The World Championship was the girl for me. I'm hungry to get back | :00:51. | :00:59.
there. Hello and good evening. Welcome the highlights of day four | :01:00. | :01:04.
of the 2016 World Snooker Championship. Neil Robinson looking | :01:05. | :01:08.
to join a number of other former world champions in the second round | :01:09. | :01:12.
draw the ceiling. The Australian has fond memories of lifting the trophy | :01:13. | :01:16.
in 2010 and watching the action from the Crucible as a youngster. I | :01:17. | :01:23.
always used to have to wait for the video tapes. Someone in the UK would | :01:24. | :01:27.
be recording the World Championships and then eventually, they would make | :01:28. | :01:32.
their way over to Australia. It was always... The Stephen Hendry, Jimmy | :01:33. | :01:39.
White finals. Those were a match as I grew up watching. The first visit | :01:40. | :01:45.
was actually won the first year I qualified for the Crucible. I went | :01:46. | :01:49.
down with their day early to just watch a match. Just being in there, | :01:50. | :01:54.
watching it as a fan, if you like, was absolutely amazing. I've never | :01:55. | :01:58.
been so nervous to walk down the stairs and to play Stephen Hendry. I | :01:59. | :02:06.
said, don't trip or fall down those stairs! The whole city is buzzing. | :02:07. | :02:09.
It's a really nice city. The first time I went there, it wasn't that | :02:10. | :02:14.
great. They've made a lot of modern changes to the city and there's | :02:15. | :02:17.
always a tremendous buzz around the city when the tournament was on as | :02:18. | :02:22.
well. It is definitely the best time and best tournament to play in. The | :02:23. | :02:27.
tournament gets dashed changes when it gets down to a one-table set-up. | :02:28. | :02:31.
That is when the tournament opens up. The crowd is so knowledgeable as | :02:32. | :02:36.
well. It's always a sell-out. It creates a brilliant atmosphere which | :02:37. | :02:39.
in turn can create a lot of pressure as well but that is what I love | :02:40. | :02:43.
about playing snooker. It's playing under pressure and playing in front | :02:44. | :02:49.
of so many millions of people on TV, and a big crowd as well. The World | :02:50. | :02:53.
Championship was the dream goal for me. It's always a very proud moment | :02:54. | :02:57.
when I go back there and see myself on the Honours list. I see pictures | :02:58. | :03:02.
of myself backstage, lifting the trophy. I had some really good runs | :03:03. | :03:06.
in the tournament as well but I'm obviously really keen to get back to | :03:07. | :03:09.
another final and hopefully win it again. But Robertson has a | :03:10. | :03:17.
potentially tricky tie against Michael Holt, who has only made the | :03:18. | :03:22.
second round on one previous occasion in 2005, against Steve | :03:23. | :03:27.
Davis. He got off to a blistering start, ending in front. We pick up | :03:28. | :03:32.
the action intake -- frame ten, the very first frame of the evening | :03:33. | :03:37.
session. Thank you. Frame can. Michael Holt to break. | :03:38. | :03:53.
Michael Holt gets the first session of this final dash first frame of | :03:54. | :03:59.
this final session under way but that was not the break off he was | :04:00. | :04:04.
looking for. He caught it too thick and was left uneasy starter for Neil | :04:05. | :04:08.
Robertson. Played so well in the first session this morning. | :04:09. | :04:27.
There is a tremendous atmosphere here tonight. A lot of people | :04:28. | :04:37.
fancied Neil Robertson at the start of this tournament but they know he | :04:38. | :04:41.
has got to produce the goods if he is to advance to the second round. | :04:42. | :04:52.
He played that well. He judged the positional side perfectly. | :04:53. | :05:40.
A good sign at the moment for Neil. Everything going right in the heart | :05:41. | :05:50.
of the pocket. Still one loose read that he can play for, without cannon | :05:51. | :05:55.
ink into the cluster and it's the type of shot... You would like to | :05:56. | :05:59.
leave yourself low on the red so it to bring the other reds into play. | :06:00. | :06:09.
And that looks about perfect. It's always a risk involved, of course, | :06:10. | :06:18.
can you keep good control of the cue ball? But he should be OK. Couldn't | :06:19. | :06:27.
have played much better. He may be a little bit disappointed he didn't | :06:28. | :06:31.
bring more reds into play but he's got another three into the open, he | :06:32. | :06:32.
can work on. Just checking to see where the pink | :06:33. | :06:53.
will go after he's potted it. You will be playing for the pink, off | :06:54. | :06:56.
this thread. As I say, there are two reds in the | :06:57. | :07:09.
open, easy to get on, that he is going to have to get onto that | :07:10. | :07:13.
cluster at some time, to clinch the frame at this visit. But this was | :07:14. | :07:19.
just what he was looking for, a good start in the opening frame. And it | :07:20. | :07:24.
was gifted to him, in all honesty. A poor break of shot from Michael. | :07:25. | :07:40.
That has ruined his position. Just a straightforward shot, to road it | :07:41. | :07:52.
through. Watch it bounce. Enough to take the pace out of the cue ball. | :07:53. | :07:58.
Unless he takes on a very risky blue, it's the end of break. | :07:59. | :08:11.
Well, it was risky. It was risky and the worst thing that could happen | :08:12. | :08:21.
was the blue came down and opened up the cluster of reds. A double | :08:22. | :08:22.
whammy. I think he just about who's on the | :08:23. | :09:00.
blue. Maybe the pink goes as well but I think he played for the blue. | :09:01. | :09:09.
Yes, I think the blue will be the choice because he has got all the | :09:10. | :09:12.
pocket available for the pink. Quite an aggressive shot and it has | :09:13. | :09:33.
worked out absolutely perfectly. So, that very risky blue that Neil | :09:34. | :09:37.
Robertson went for could well cost him this first frame of the evening. | :09:38. | :09:44.
Doesn't to play any more cannons. All the reds are in the open. The | :09:45. | :09:49.
colours are on their spots. What a chance to get a full frame advantage | :09:50. | :09:51.
over the number four. You see, I always believe you've got | :09:52. | :10:39.
to get 90% or above. 93% for Michael Holt. When he was introduced | :10:40. | :10:44.
tonight, Rob water got it right. The best performance... Can he keep it | :10:45. | :10:49.
going? He's just gone slightly out of | :10:50. | :11:25.
position there. OK, he's played the red to the left middle but he's got | :11:26. | :11:29.
a little bit of work to do now with the cue ball. He has decided to play | :11:30. | :11:35.
another red but this will be taking him out of the ball end. | :11:36. | :11:47.
He has played it absolutely inch perfect. | :11:48. | :12:09.
He is finding trouble here. Can he get past the pink? He is just on it. | :12:10. | :12:25.
And that was an important road to get rid of because in porting the | :12:26. | :12:32.
pink, he plays to the ones at the right middle. | :12:33. | :12:46.
Decided to play for the blue. It's OK. He's got the right angle. He | :12:47. | :13:11.
will be feeling it out there. Points, all square. | :13:12. | :13:46.
Well, decided to go up purposely for a baulk colour. He will put the | :13:47. | :13:53.
yellow and of course spotted again when it is re-spotted. It is hard to | :13:54. | :14:03.
see a problem now. Neil Robertson was unlucky. He was going well but | :14:04. | :14:07.
got a bad contact. Should he have pushed the boat out and gone for the | :14:08. | :14:12.
blue? He will be thinking, maybe not now, because missing that blue looks | :14:13. | :14:18.
also -- looks almost certain to have cost him the first frame of this | :14:19. | :14:24.
important final session. Ten points, the lead. Green, brown, blue. | :14:25. | :14:56.
Just roll the blue in and he goes 22 points in front, with just 13 | :14:57. | :15:00.
remaining. Played very well in the first | :15:01. | :15:27.
session, did Michael Holt. He is still in that form. Neil Robertson | :15:28. | :15:33.
will be disappointed. Should he have gone for the blue? It is history | :15:34. | :15:38.
now. So the Hitman looking to take down | :15:39. | :15:41.
Robertson but the Aussie pinched one back. We are going to show you what | :15:42. | :15:48.
happened in frame 12. Robertson to play with a 44 point lead. | :15:49. | :15:55.
Not that one. And this time, he has not got away with it. It shows you | :15:56. | :16:06.
the difference, when you get the cue ball close to the question, how much | :16:07. | :16:15.
more difficult it makes the pot. Michael Holt comes to the table 44 | :16:16. | :16:23.
points behind. First priority, reduce your arrears and get right | :16:24. | :16:27.
back in the frame. Can't think about winning at this visit. Not yet. | :16:28. | :16:39.
Still, a little bit short of pace there. Not certain where the pink | :16:40. | :16:49.
will go once it has been re-spotted. He's had a look at the green but | :16:50. | :16:56.
that is much too straight. Just wanted to be straight on this pink. | :16:57. | :17:01.
It would have been so much easier to get position on the next red. | :17:02. | :17:25.
Well, he has decided on the green. This is a big shot. This is a very | :17:26. | :17:40.
big shot. Well, looking at his body language, the blue is covering the | :17:41. | :17:43.
red near the corner. You thought if I pot the green, I will have a thin | :17:44. | :17:48.
snake. There you see it, the blues in the way. | :17:49. | :17:58.
Well, maybe there is a red near the pink spots include the left corner. | :17:59. | :18:05.
It doesn't look as though all the pockets are available, as you can | :18:06. | :18:13.
see. Oh, but there was enough. What a tremendous part that was. Needs a | :18:14. | :18:17.
good kiss on the green. It could have been worse. It could have run | :18:18. | :18:23.
past the green and it would have been nothing. What a good pot that | :18:24. | :18:29.
was. This yellow sneaks in, I'm thinking he can avoid the kiss on | :18:30. | :18:33.
the brown to get the cue ball up to this end of the table. | :18:34. | :18:44.
He has looked at the blue. He has looked up the yellow. He is now | :18:45. | :18:49.
looking at the green. Decision time. It is the yellow. | :18:50. | :19:20.
Just got to be a little bit wary about the cue ball heading towards | :19:21. | :19:25.
the right middle pocket here. He is trying to avoid the brown. Can he | :19:26. | :19:31.
avoid the brown? Well, not really, but he has left himself a chance of | :19:32. | :19:37.
this thin snake. The reason he didn't play it, he was worried about | :19:38. | :19:41.
the right middle. So purposely screwed into the brown. He has left | :19:42. | :19:50.
himself a chance at this thread. But when there is a thin potting angle, | :19:51. | :19:53.
it's not guaranteed where the cue ball is going to finish. | :19:54. | :20:08.
He will settle for that. He has finished nicely on the blue. Will he | :20:09. | :20:20.
risk the cannon on those two reds that are together? If you could roll | :20:21. | :20:23.
the blue in and play for one of those reds in the left middle, he | :20:24. | :20:27.
would do, but he cannot do that. Will he play the cannon? Well, one | :20:28. | :20:37.
of them in pots. It is a chance. Not an easy one. | :20:38. | :21:17.
Held that nicely. The reason I say it is not an easy one, if the brown | :21:18. | :21:25.
was on its spot, you would have a normal table to go at but that brown | :21:26. | :21:30.
is in an awkward position. You don't want to be looking that far ahead. | :21:31. | :21:35.
You just want to concentrate on the shots in front of you at the moment. | :21:36. | :21:53.
Just looking to see if this red passes the black to the right | :21:54. | :21:57.
corner. It looks as though it does. Decided to play for the black and I | :21:58. | :22:34.
presume, when the black is re-spotted, it won't interfere with | :22:35. | :22:41.
this red being available. And it doesn't. So, nine points behind now | :22:42. | :22:51.
and the only problem ball I can see is the brown. | :22:52. | :23:18.
Played it nicely. Now, he needs a good angle. He needs a good angle on | :23:19. | :23:26.
the green. Then he can get down to the brown. Just one point behind. | :23:27. | :23:33.
You will need up to and including the pink. Then he will be able to | :23:34. | :23:36.
steal this very important frame. Doesn't want to be too straight on | :23:37. | :23:51.
the screen. I'm surprised he played it like that. I thought he would | :23:52. | :23:58.
leave himself a ball pot. He looks very straight and if you screw in | :23:59. | :24:02.
back, you've got to be careful you don't screw back into the left | :24:03. | :24:08.
middle. He is a little bit careless to leave himself the way he has. | :24:09. | :24:26.
Now, if he pops the green and screws back, he will leave the cue ball | :24:27. | :24:33.
where it is now. -- pops the green. People have a go at the brown. | :24:34. | :24:55.
As you can see, no problem putting the green. He's got to bite the | :24:56. | :25:05.
bullet here. Just leave yourself a shot at the brown. Don't risk | :25:06. | :25:09.
screwing in-off or something silly like that. | :25:10. | :25:24.
Well, there you go. Trying to get position on the brown, missed the | :25:25. | :25:36.
green. What a mistake. And what a chance he has let go there. | :25:37. | :25:47.
Having said that, what a poor shot that was from Neil Robertson. | :25:48. | :25:58.
He thought long and hard about this. He was frightened about screwing off | :25:59. | :26:06.
into the middle pocket. In the end, he tried to pot the green into a | :26:07. | :26:10.
pocket that wasn't there. He's had a reprieve, because Neil Robertson has | :26:11. | :26:18.
played a dreadful safety there. This green will pot and he's had a look | :26:19. | :26:20.
at the potting angle. I can see that he has got it. The | :26:21. | :26:43.
brown and blue will put in 13 points in front. With 13 remaining. Good | :26:44. | :26:57.
pot. You feel he has got to play the brown into the middle. Surely it is | :26:58. | :27:02.
a natural, just to drop it in. You've got to fully commit though, | :27:03. | :27:06.
to this. This is a golden opportunity. | :27:07. | :27:19.
Not perfect on the blue. The blue, as I say, will put him 13 points in | :27:20. | :27:39.
front with 13 points remaining. He has got to fully commit to this. | :27:40. | :27:43.
Neil Robertson played a very poor safety shot on the green, when he | :27:44. | :27:47.
was given a let off. This is a natural to roll this in and come of | :27:48. | :27:52.
this -- side question to the pink, under normal circumstances. Played | :27:53. | :28:03.
it perfectly. In a frame that could have gone either way, it looked as | :28:04. | :28:07.
though it was going to be Neil Robertson's for most of it. But it | :28:08. | :28:13.
has slipped away and Michael Holt will be mighty relieved. Neil | :28:14. | :28:17.
Robertson, really in bother now. The outsider, Michael Holt, leads the | :28:18. | :28:23.
world number four by four frames. And Michael Holt edged even closer | :28:24. | :28:28.
to victory, taking the next frame. Can Robertson find a way back into | :28:29. | :28:31.
this one? Frame 14. It looks like he is trying to play | :28:32. | :28:40.
three cushions and get into the pack. It's a decent effort. It's a | :28:41. | :28:47.
bit wide. A fraction wide. A great try. Now, the situation Neil | :28:48. | :28:58.
Robertson is in, when he gets these opportunities, he will be getting -- | :28:59. | :29:04.
looking to try and win the frame in one visit. When you are playing | :29:05. | :29:08.
catch up like this, you don't want to be winning scrappy frames. You | :29:09. | :29:13.
want to try and score heavily. But every shot now, there is that extra | :29:14. | :29:22.
little bit of pressure on it. He's got to say, as we call it, no miss | :29:23. | :29:25.
snooker. Thank you. Ideally you would have | :29:26. | :30:25.
liked to be low on this black but he couldn't play the shot from the | :30:26. | :30:30.
position he was in so he had to try going for the back cushion which is | :30:31. | :30:41.
always harder. It is a lovely outcome. He got a lot of action on | :30:42. | :30:54.
the cue ball. 23. Just the right side of the blue. | :30:55. | :31:07.
Not wasting much time now, Neill, getting on with it and trying to | :31:08. | :31:12.
make something happen. Trying to get a buzz on. 29. This is perfect. He | :31:13. | :31:23.
can open up the pack here. A realistic frame-winning chance now. | :31:24. | :31:31.
Split them nicely. It is really a case of one shot one frame at a time | :31:32. | :31:44.
when you are in this position. It is no good looking at the scoreboard. | :31:45. | :31:56.
Winning a couple of quick frames could slightly put the heat on | :31:57. | :32:02.
Michael Holt. 37. Can you just clean the white, | :32:03. | :32:36.
please? Sure. 34. | :32:37. | :32:47. |
