COMMENTATOR: Mark Selby will be over University. | :00:53. | :00:52.
COMMENTATOR: Mark Selby will be over the | :00:53. | :01:12.
COMMENTATOR: Mark Selby will be over first time. STUDIO: Is Mark Selby | :01:13. | :01:16.
feeling that this evening? Very good evening and welcome to highlights of | :01:17. | :01:21.
the 2016 World Championships, we have had another super Saturday, | :01:22. | :01:24.
with Mark Selby looking to book his place in the last eight. | :01:25. | :01:43.
Mark Selby against Sam Baird from Devon, making his second appearance | :01:44. | :02:34.
at the Crucible, he won his first ever match last week against Michael | :02:35. | :02:39.
White. Mark Selby led 11-7 when we left the match earlier in the | :02:40. | :02:47.
evening. Sam Baird won the next two frames, and now we will show you | :02:48. | :02:48.
what happened after that. COMMENTATOR: What a shot. If it | :02:49. | :03:00.
slows up he will have a chance of the yellow to the middle. You would | :03:01. | :03:06.
think he has enough angle to stun down for the red at the top cushion. | :03:07. | :03:15.
That is a good pot. He is thinking about the snooker. Nice angle on the | :03:16. | :03:23.
yellow to stun down, that has got to be the way to play. Well played. | :03:24. | :03:27.
Superb shot. He is a bit straight. To think of | :03:28. | :03:41.
moving the black and screwing into the black. If he had a side angle | :03:42. | :03:46.
that might be a possibility, but these pockets are very difficult and | :03:47. | :03:51.
long the cushion. A couple of big shots. I would favour the black and | :03:52. | :03:58.
leaving myself a good angle, but I would rather have more angle than | :03:59. | :04:02.
this. You would like to play the black in such a way that if it did | :04:03. | :04:08.
not go in it would stop the red being possible, but now he will have | :04:09. | :04:13.
to fully commit to this. He will have to play this with more pace | :04:14. | :04:18.
than he would have liked. Just off the cushion, you have got to be so | :04:19. | :04:24.
accurate. He could not have played it better. APPLAUSE | :04:25. | :04:30.
Could not have played it any better. He made it look easy. They always do | :04:31. | :04:37.
when they go in. There was pressure on that. He has got to be careful. | :04:38. | :04:43.
Because I think he would like to go up for the blue. The pace he puts | :04:44. | :04:53.
into the shot, the more it makes the red missable. Three points behind. | :04:54. | :05:02.
He campaigned with top spin and right-hand side for the black, but | :05:03. | :05:05.
he is playing the screw shot, and that pace, as you rightly say, it is | :05:06. | :05:13.
missable. The danger of missing it with pace. It needs good cueing and | :05:14. | :05:27.
this black. -- on. He did that beautifully and now it needs to run | :05:28. | :05:32.
past the blue. He is looking for a straight yellow, but he has not got | :05:33. | :05:36.
it, can he reach without using the rest? He looks as cool as a | :05:37. | :05:50.
cucumber. He looks calm and cool on the top, but the feet are going 100 | :05:51. | :05:57.
mph under the water might a duck. -- like. So far he is playing well | :05:58. | :06:06.
under pressure. Oh! That is the problem, you are stretching. You | :06:07. | :06:11.
have got to ask the question, do you get right in line with the shot? Ami | :06:12. | :06:17.
times do we see that, when the player puts the extension and the | :06:18. | :06:24.
end of their cue? -- how many times. We see that so often. So, Mark | :06:25. | :06:32.
Selby, five points behind. He has a chance of this yellow, the brown | :06:33. | :06:37.
will be the cable in this frame. Both players need it -- will be the | :06:38. | :06:40.
key ball. Great pot. What is on? It is a bit | :06:41. | :07:01.
thinner than he would have liked. Can he pot the green and cannon for | :07:02. | :07:10.
the brown? He needs the pink, of course. He timed it so well. | :07:11. | :07:18.
Excellent shot. Lovely shop that is. -- shot. He got the link in play, a | :07:19. | :07:25.
quick glance at the scoreboard, the points are level -- he got the pink | :07:26. | :07:31.
in play. This brown, if he is going to get good and be blue with pace, | :07:32. | :07:40.
this is no gimme -- if he is going to get good on the blue with pace. | :07:41. | :07:48.
It was never a gimme at that pace. It is running on the Sam Baird. He | :07:49. | :07:56.
now needs brown, blue and pink, to get within one. Never easy, those. | :07:57. | :08:04.
If you have your hand on the table. But what a chance now for the young | :08:05. | :08:07.
man. So, now, all about position from | :08:08. | :08:24.
blue to pink. He has a natural angle to cut the blue into the middle and | :08:25. | :08:28.
he will come off the baulk cushion and it is all about judging the | :08:29. | :08:32.
pace. I think the line is guaranteed. Judging the pace. He | :08:33. | :08:41.
needs it to run for the middle. It is perfect! APPLAUSE | :08:42. | :08:51.
He has the momentum now. Mark Selby had a few chances, but Sam Baird is | :08:52. | :09:03.
now right back in it, just one behind, 11-10. STUDIO: Into the next | :09:04. | :09:12.
frame, Sam Baird is to play, and he is behind. COMMENTATOR: By dating he | :09:13. | :09:21.
will be playing the pot, just the containing safety, I would have | :09:22. | :09:24.
thought -- I don't think he will be playing the pot. He has not left | :09:25. | :09:29.
anything easy, that is the only thing you can say for that. Well, | :09:30. | :09:34.
although it is not easy, Mark might be tempted into taking the difficult | :09:35. | :09:42.
red into the left-hand centre, playing it as a screw shot with | :09:43. | :09:46.
right-hand side, checking the cue ball off the side cushion and the | :09:47. | :09:52.
baulk cushion for the corner pocket. Tough shot but a great shot. Yes. | :09:53. | :10:04.
That is a good pot. No position, but a chance to put Sam Baird in lots of | :10:05. | :10:15.
trouble. Now, how do you get this safe? You just feel that if Mark | :10:16. | :10:29.
gets the chance for the next red, he will clinch the frame. OK, he needs | :10:30. | :10:37.
three of the remaining reds but two of those are nicely in the open. I | :10:38. | :10:50.
can't see one at red which it can make contact with. That would not | :10:51. | :11:02.
leave a pot on. Is it hit and hope time? Certainly faced with a very | :11:03. | :11:07.
tricky situation. I can see what he was thinking. Hit | :11:08. | :11:43.
the red which is at this end of the table. I would be surprised if Mark | :11:44. | :11:50.
takes this on. I know it cuts back but he's not guaranteed position on | :11:51. | :11:57.
a colour. Maybe he feels in potting this it can run into the red on the | :11:58. | :12:06.
left-hand side. -- he can. He can bring the red interplay, and as I | :12:07. | :12:13.
say, it is clear the remaining five reds -- into play. I'm surprised he | :12:14. | :12:23.
is taking this on. He did not get the can on and the red, but he took | :12:24. | :12:29.
this on because he thought, if he makes it, he has a chance of winning | :12:30. | :12:35.
the frame. -- he did not get the cannon on the red. He has now. He | :12:36. | :12:48.
has played this nicely. 37 ahead, 59 remaining, and when he makes this | :12:49. | :12:55.
red there will only be 51 remaining. He needs red, colour, red, to go | :12:56. | :13:01.
within one frame of a place in the quarterfinal. This black will put | :13:02. | :13:10.
him 45 points in front. With 51 remaining. It is no formality just | :13:11. | :13:22.
yet. He has a slight angle but he is straighter than he would have liked. | :13:23. | :13:28.
He has options. Maybe the deep screw across the table. He has a terrible | :13:29. | :13:37.
contact there, terrible contact. The cue ball has gone nowhere because of | :13:38. | :13:43.
that. The black jumps and that takes the pace out of the cue ball. Maybe | :13:44. | :13:50.
tempted to play a double with a safety in mind. 45 in front with 51 | :13:51. | :14:02.
remaining, just needs this red. Yes. I don't think the red on the | :14:03. | :14:08.
left-hand side, you can double. The one closest you can double. This one | :14:09. | :14:16.
you certainly can. We will know before him if it is going in. Not | :14:17. | :14:31.
there. Big favourite. But can't count your chickens in this game. | :14:32. | :14:36.
Made sure he got a good cue there, Mark. There was a chance that he | :14:37. | :14:42.
could leave a cross table double with the red on the left-hand side | :14:43. | :14:45.
cushion and by getting such a good cue ball he made the shot | :14:46. | :14:53.
impossible. That is a good reply from Sam, the safety shot. Yes, made | :14:54. | :15:06.
it look easy. He was not to thick or thin. If he pots the red he will be | :15:07. | :15:19.
further ahead. Did not want to risk the pot, took | :15:20. | :15:54.
the opportunity to put the red safe. I would be surprised if Sam does not | :15:55. | :16:02.
play safe office red that Mark has just pushed to the side cushion, it | :16:03. | :16:08.
looks straightforward enough -- off this red. That is better than it | :16:09. | :16:18.
could have been. The reason it was short, he did not want the red to go | :16:19. | :16:24.
over to the other side. Mark might be tempted to pot this red, it is | :16:25. | :16:31.
frame ball. The only red you could leave is the one that you are | :16:32. | :16:35.
playing, and if it goes in it is a frame and. -- frame-winner. | :16:36. | :16:58.
Playing no risk snooker. I don't know whether he thought of the | :16:59. | :17:11.
cannon on the black. Not something you do, really. You would like to | :17:12. | :17:16.
have the cue ball tight against the cushion. We mentioned cross double | :17:17. | :17:22.
before. I'm wondering if it can avoid the yellow if he plays that | :17:23. | :17:26.
way. Needs to rattle the jaws, and it didn't. Where is the red going to | :17:27. | :17:35.
finish? If Mark Selby has an angle on this, it can play the double and | :17:36. | :17:40.
bring the cue ball back to the top cushion. He will play at. He can | :17:41. | :17:50.
still play the red near the brown spot. | :17:51. | :18:04.
Is he going to play the double or just the safety? You don't want to | :18:05. | :18:12.
inhibit yourself too much. Only need one more pot. Oh! He did play the | :18:13. | :18:23.
double. It looked in for a moment, just a fraction out. I think he | :18:24. | :18:28.
thought that was in. So did I. That was much to thick, if you are | :18:29. | :18:47.
going to miss those you have got to her on the side of heating it -- | :18:48. | :19:00.
hitting it too thin. Interesting to see how he plays this, if he plays | :19:01. | :19:04.
it with left-hand side and gets through it a bit quick he did hit | :19:05. | :19:11.
the red a bit thick. Beautifully cued. | :19:12. | :19:51.
So, with a lead of 46 points and just 42 remaining, Mark Selby looks | :19:52. | :19:59.
to be one frame away from a place in the quarterfinal. STUDIO: He went on | :20:00. | :20:04.
to win that frame, into the next, Sam Baird to play and there is no | :20:05. | :20:05.
score. COMMENTATOR: He has played that very | :20:06. | :20:17.
well, under the circumstances that was an excellent shot. The red near | :20:18. | :20:28.
the right corner, that is gettable, even though it is a thin one. One of | :20:29. | :20:38.
those type of shots, you hit that as thin as you can, but where the cue | :20:39. | :20:46.
ball goes, it is anybody's guests. Taking it on and he needs to get it | :20:47. | :20:55.
-- guests. He has got it. Is he going to be on a colour? The flick | :20:56. | :21:01.
off the yellow and he will settle for that and the leg Trip To | :21:02. | :21:11.
-- he will settle for that on the blue. The flick on the yellow slowed | :21:12. | :21:22.
the cue ball down enough. It has not left in nicely on the blue, but on | :21:23. | :21:25.
the blue. Not certain where the pink will go | :21:26. | :22:30.
when it is re-spotted. I do think he's worried about things like that | :22:31. | :22:42.
at the moment. -- I don't think. We have not seen Mark Selby at his | :22:43. | :22:47.
best. Like Hoover, when he who was the balls up, that is what he will | :22:48. | :22:54.
be of right now. -- when he Hoover 's the balls up. Get as many as you | :22:55. | :23:04.
can. Has he hampered himself? Can he cue passed this red? Is a bit | :23:05. | :23:14.
careless if it can't. It was a bit heavy. That was a kick. Just OK. | :23:15. | :23:30.
If he can just cue passed the red... So, 69 is the target and he already | :23:31. | :23:41.
has 20 of them, another 49 points for a place in the quarterfinal. | :23:42. | :23:51.
Just a case of the second red, nicely. He will have to play a | :23:52. | :23:58.
little cannon, just left of the pink. And hold the cue ball in the | :23:59. | :24:02.
middle of the table. Could have worked out slightly | :24:03. | :24:21.
better than that. He is on the red to the corner but the pink is not | :24:22. | :24:26.
available. He's badly hampered with the red to the left of the one is | :24:27. | :24:34.
straight on. Can he force this round the angles or can he stun for the | :24:35. | :24:41.
pink in the opposite middle? That is what he has tried and he has played | :24:42. | :24:48.
it absolutely perfect, great shot. What a shot that was, brilliant shot | :24:49. | :24:56.
from Mark Selby. This is very impressive stuff. When he needed it | :24:57. | :25:02.
most. What an incredible shot that was. | :25:03. | :25:20.
Judge the cannon and beeping perfectly. -- judged the cannon on | :25:21. | :25:33.
the pink perfectly. You can always tell when a player is doing well, no | :25:34. | :25:44.
time for thinking. Sam Baird, sitting there wondering, has he | :25:45. | :25:52.
played his last shot? It has to be said, there have been times in this | :25:53. | :25:55.
match when he has had the world number one on the ropes. But he has | :25:56. | :26:06.
played such an experienced competitor in Mark Selby, you have | :26:07. | :26:09.
got to keep him on the ropes, and just a few chances that Sam has let | :26:10. | :26:15.
go begging, it looks like they will cost him the match. One of the | :26:16. | :26:23.
hallmarks of being an outstanding champion is handling the greatest of | :26:24. | :26:34.
pressures in adversity. Mark Selby has done that time and time again. | :26:35. | :26:39.
He's doing it again right now. Could not avoid the kiss and the | :26:40. | :26:58.
second red. It has not worked out well. The potting angle is taking | :26:59. | :27:06.
him away from the reds at this end. He is pointing where he probably | :27:07. | :27:14.
finished, rolling the red into the bottom corner, leaving himself a | :27:15. | :27:20.
middle distance red. I don't see any value in going for the straight | :27:21. | :27:25.
blue, so just pot the pink. Playing with bottom. Easy going to try and | :27:26. | :27:35.
come in and out of baulk? He is. He got a nudge on that. He will not be | :27:36. | :27:43.
playing this red now, hampered as he is over the yellow. That is the end | :27:44. | :27:55.
of the break for me. This red and the side of the table, surely too | :27:56. | :28:03.
risky -- on the side. A good safety is the order of the day. | :28:04. | :28:28.
Yes, he has played that well. The object ball on the side cushion. | :28:29. | :28:40.
STUDIO: It was very tense in this one, and it is not over yet. | :28:41. | :28:46.
COMMENTATOR: A glance at the scoreboard, pot the brown, he would | :28:47. | :28:51.
be 23 points behind, with 18 remaining. Well, don't tell me he is | :28:52. | :29:03.
going to pot the blue, I don't know why he wanted to get this close to | :29:04. | :29:05.
the blue. No, right. And he's got the snooker | :29:06. | :29:24.
behind the pink. Nice to see a little tap on the table from Mark | :29:25. | :29:29.
Selby, even in the heat of battle, sportsmanship steel shining through. | :29:30. | :29:37.
Fabulous touch from sunbed. Should be easy enough to hit off one | :29:38. | :29:50.
cushion. But another chance to lay that snooker to type. | :29:51. | :30:03.
There you see it, 5-point penalty would leave him 18 points behind | :30:04. | :30:12.
with 18 remaining. And OK, if he potted the blue, one snooker on the | :30:13. | :30:18.
pink to be able to win, but you want a couple of balls to snooker behind, | :30:19. | :30:20.
not just one. Misjudged it. That's it, that is a tremendous pot. | :30:21. | :30:53.
She knows now that the end, and so does sunbed. Unbelievable. Sunbed | :30:54. | :31:03.
looked down and out, he dug in, battled hard, but when he got to | :31:04. | :31:10.
11-11, the experience of Mark Selby came to the fore. He will run out a | :31:11. | :31:17.
very relieved winner. You feel for sand bed, few chances that could | :31:18. | :31:20.
have gone the other way but it's Mark Selby. Made hard work of it but | :31:21. | :31:28.
he's in the quarterfinal. He wins 13-11. STUDIO: Delighted to say Mark | :31:29. | :31:33.
Selby joins us. Many congratulations. I saw some of your | :31:34. | :31:39.
body language, looking to the skies, very angry when chalking your cue, | :31:40. | :31:45.
what happened? I lost my head a bit. Some bad bounces, as there have been | :31:46. | :31:52.
throughout. My concentration seemed to be nonexistent. Whatever reason | :31:53. | :31:55.
that was, I don't know, but I managed to regroup. No reason for | :31:56. | :32:02.
the lack of concentration? Even during the season I can get zoned in | :32:03. | :32:08.
but for whatever reason I lose focus quite easily, old age, I don't know. | :32:09. | :32:16.
Fairplay to sunbed, he played well. I have rated in the years -- | :32:17. | :32:20.
Fairplay to Baird. He put me under pressure. When you've been in a | :32:21. | :32:25.
situation like this, such a late night, does it help you in | :32:26. | :32:29.
preparation for the next round? A little bit. Thankful just to get | :32:30. | :32:35.
through, really. Just to get through is nice. Couple of days off now, | :32:36. | :32:39.
back to the practice table to regroup and come back fresh. Mark | :32:40. | :32:44.
Allen or Wilson, how is your luck against those two? I haven't played | :32:45. | :32:51.
Wilson many times, I think I am about even with Mark. But whoever I | :32:52. | :32:58.
play it will be a tough game. Got to ask about the table conditions, we | :32:59. | :33:01.
saw Alan McManus and Ali Carter frustrated with their table, Mark | :33:02. | :33:06.
Williams and Michael Holt complaining specifically about the | :33:07. | :33:11.
bounce, your view? I don't know what it is. Even just throughout the | :33:12. | :33:16.
season the tables have been like that, so inconsistent from one day | :33:17. | :33:20.
to the next. I know they changed a set of balls a few years ago, | :33:21. | :33:23.
whether it is that or not I am not sure. They are changing the tables, | :33:24. | :33:29.
as soon as you finished, the fitters are working on them. There will be | :33:30. | :33:35.
people watching saying, here we have snooker players once again | :33:36. | :33:37.
complaining about conditions, it seems to happen in a lot of | :33:38. | :33:41.
tournaments. It is frustrating, you can be really struggling, you win a | :33:42. | :33:47.
frame and get momentum, play a safety shot, get in and have a bad | :33:48. | :33:50.
bounce through no fault of your own, and you cannot allow for that. I | :33:51. | :33:55.
played in the UK against Neil when the table was playing like that and | :33:56. | :33:59.
at some point I was trying to play for the bounce because I was | :34:00. | :34:03.
expecting it more times than not. Some people say you are just putting | :34:04. | :34:07.
it down to the table and maybe it is about your performance. No it's not. | :34:08. | :34:13.
It is the same for both players, I understand that, but it is | :34:14. | :34:16.
frustrating, it is not just me, it is happening to everybody else. Sam | :34:17. | :34:22.
had some shots with bad bounces to run out of position. Frustrating | :34:23. | :34:26.
more than anything else. Many congratulations and thanks to Mark | :34:27. | :34:31.
Selby for joining us. Looking to join him today Alan McManus and Mark | :34:32. | :34:37.
Williams. Allan McGregor must won the first three frames against Ali | :34:38. | :34:40.
Carter and he retained his lead, after the next two were shared. | :34:41. | :34:46.
Several heavy kicks and bounces off the cushions, Carter fell 12-10 | :34:47. | :34:49.
behind after a terrible miscue on the black, but produced a fine break | :34:50. | :34:53.
of 100 to prolong the much. But another missed shot from Carter | :34:54. | :35:05.
enough for McManus to take the frame he needed to inflict a 13-11 defeat. | :35:06. | :35:13.
Conditions are pretty difficult out there. Some of the kicks both of us | :35:14. | :35:19.
had, the bounces, it became really tough. It's difficult to explain. | :35:20. | :35:27.
The cue ball just finishes where it shouldn't. Meanwhile Michael Holt | :35:28. | :35:31.
overcame his own difficulties on the table with this big bounce against | :35:32. | :35:40.
Mark Williams. Later a brilliant shot helped Williams take an 11-6 | :35:41. | :35:49.
lead. After a re-rack, Holt replied with a brilliant opening red and a | :35:50. | :35:53.
marvellous break of 120 to take the next two frames. But it was not | :35:54. | :36:02.
enough as Mark Williams held on and won the match 13-8. Happy with the | :36:03. | :36:13.
wind. Played quite good, except for the first session, I was pretty | :36:14. | :36:19.
poor. Had a miracle to get out for- four, could have easily been 6-2, | :36:20. | :36:28.
7-1 to him. Rather than getting frustrated, you can have a laugh | :36:29. | :36:33.
about it. Some of the stuff going on out there was laughable. One of the | :36:34. | :36:42.
score to bring you up-to-date with. Barry Hawkins leading 5-3 against | :36:43. | :36:51.
Ronnie O'Sullivan. That is the first session, they resume tomorrow. Let's | :36:52. | :36:56.
show you what is happening. Mark Selby was with us here. These are | :36:57. | :37:02.
live pictures from the Crucible. You heard Mark Williams and Alan McManus | :37:03. | :37:05.
complaining about the bounce, Mark Selby also said the performance of | :37:06. | :37:09.
the table, the cushions are being changed right now, hopefully we will | :37:10. | :37:14.
see an improvement tomorrow. We've seen to veterans go through to the | :37:15. | :37:17.
quarterfinals, Mark Williams and Alan McManus. John Higgins hoping to | :37:18. | :37:22.
join them, taking on Ricky Walden. We will show you what happened in | :37:23. | :37:27.
the final frame with Higgins to play. | :37:28. | :37:35.
COMMENTATOR: He will be on the practice table to stop that | :37:36. | :37:49.
happening. John Higgins has made three out of the four. That was half | :37:50. | :37:59.
handy, but he pushed the black off its spot. Pink is available, | :38:00. | :38:04.
obviously. Got to play power off that black. Makes the shot that much | :38:05. | :38:17.
more difficult. First time we've got half a bounce off the cushion. The | :38:18. | :38:25.
table has not played well, but we should give them credit, the | :38:26. | :38:32.
fitters. Got it back to normal. How they've done it, I don't know. | :38:33. | :38:40.
Because these players are playing well, there is no tension in their | :38:41. | :38:45.
arm, maybe that makes a bit difference. They are both cueing | :38:46. | :38:50.
beautifully. We've hardly had any kicks, I can't remember one. | :38:51. | :39:20.
Big target to get on a choice of rates, but that one did fly. That's | :39:21. | :39:28.
the first one we've had fly off the cushion. That's gone about two feet | :39:29. | :39:33.
further than John Higgins thought, you can see why he's shaking his | :39:34. | :39:38.
head. Just look how it comes off the third cushion. Whoosh. | :39:39. | :39:46.
No problem with the red, if he plays it slow he will finish virtually on | :39:47. | :39:50.
top of the black. Not quite. He'd be very brave to | :39:51. | :40:15.
take this black on. Is he going to go for this? Could | :40:16. | :40:38.
play a very thin cut on the black with right-hand side, go past the | :40:39. | :40:46.
reds down to the baulk area. Doesn't look like it, though. He's taking it | :40:47. | :40:54.
on. You can't even start to think of how difficult the shop is. He was | :40:55. | :40:59.
leaving everything on, if he missed it. All credit to you, John. There's | :41:00. | :41:05.
many who would have played safe off that. | :41:06. | :41:22.
Another very clever positional shot. He now knows this is a fabulous | :41:23. | :41:31.
chance to take a two frame lead going into the second session. He's | :41:32. | :41:36.
done all the hard work in this part of the break. Now he's got the pink | :41:37. | :41:42.
and the black open. He'll be disappointed if he doesn't score | :41:43. | :41:43.
enough to win the frame. This match is amazingly enough being | :41:44. | :42:37.
played over three days. They play their second session at 2:30pm | :42:38. | :42:44.
tomorrow, 7pm on Monday it finishes. Wouldn't it be great if they both | :42:45. | :42:52.
kept in this kind of form. Ricky Walden shouldn't be disappointed | :42:53. | :42:55.
with the way he has played this evening. Played poorly in the first | :42:56. | :42:59.
game, but it was just about getting over the line. | :43:00. | :43:22.
Virtually every little cannon has been played perfectly. | :43:23. | :44:22.
John Higgins will definitely be taking a 5-3 lead into the second | :44:23. | :44:36.
session. Now to try to finish with his fifth century of the tournament. | :44:37. | :44:50.
If he makes it it will be the 50th century of the tournament. Still got | :44:51. | :44:59.
a lot of big break-builders left in. Played a forcing screw, there. Try | :45:00. | :45:41.
to get on two rates, missed the desired one but is perfect for the | :45:42. | :45:43.
other one. -- two reds. John Higgins has done everything | :45:44. | :46:00.
this evening apart from make a century. The way he's played he | :46:01. | :46:02.
certainly deserves one. This is to take the lead in the | :46:03. | :46:49.
centuries made by one person. To make his fifth at the Crucible this | :46:50. | :46:57.
year. Very well done. Excellent. Very well done. Been a pleasure to | :46:58. | :47:06.
watch and to commentate on. Both players almost at the top of their | :47:07. | :47:08.
game. Ricky can only sit there and admire, | :47:09. | :47:21.
really, because he's played well himself. Apart from his safety being | :47:22. | :47:31.
a little bit poor. But in the balls he's looked exceptional. Magnificent | :47:32. | :47:40.
. They will both be pleased with their night's work. Don't miss this | :47:41. | :47:49.
one in the second session tomorrow. STUDIO: Excellent break from the | :47:50. | :47:52.
four-time world champion, and that match resumes in the afternoon | :47:53. | :47:57.
session. That's it from us, snooker extra follows us shortly on BBC One | :47:58. | :48:03.
if you want some more action. We are back at 10am on BBC Two. A fantastic | :48:04. | :48:11.
day of snooker to look ahead to. Goodbye for now. | :48:12. | :48:13. |
