Good morning. Welcome to the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Can

you believe it is day 11 of the 20 16th Betfred World Championship.

Another big name has gone, Ronnie O'Sullivan knocked out by Barry

Hawkins in late-night drama last night which means the 2014 world

champion Mark Selby is one of the favourites to lift the title again.

Mark Selby 2014 world champion, three times Masters champion, a

formidable match clear. He is in the mould of John Higgins. Every

department of his game is top notch. He is very difficult to beat. He

plays a lot of superior tactical shots. A very clever player. Amongst

the best in the world. A very formidable opponent. As kids there

is a lot written about how we are good mates of the table. We came

through the juniors together. As a child he was as tactically aware as

he is now. He practised a lot with Willie thought and other

professionals. He learned the right from the wrong shots and as a kid he

always played the right tactical shot but he could not score like we

could score at the time. Towards his late teens he learned how to score.

Very accurate, position like, Sir John Mike. Good pure power. The

movement, head movement, swaying backwards and forwards before he

plays the shot. It is only before, in the build-up. It is his whole

upper body that moves. It looks like head movement but as he's ways to

add through with the cue. -- he's ways back and forth. For him to undo

that would prove him a problem. One of the biggest problems is

confidence in himself. Even though he has won so much and has been up

there on top of the game I do not think like some of the other players

he has that ultimate beliefs every time he goes out there, in himself,

which he should do. I would not say he is overconfident. He is very

technically minded, interested in the technique of how to strike a

snooker ball. How many feathers he has, length of backswing, that type

of thing, he is constantly looking for the secret ingredient, whereas

the sat back and realised he has achieved everything he could have

wanted to he be all right. Mark Selby, who left it very latency

of the qualifier Sam Baird on Saturday night, lines up against

Kyren Wilson. A man who had to play three matches before getting to the

Crucible. Also in won his first ranking title in Shanghai this

season. How will he be filling this morning on the biggest stage of all?

He knocked out Mark Allen. Will he be the shock story of this year's

tournament? On the other table, Mark Williams, twice a day and at the

tournament, looking very relaxed. He takes on Ding Junhui. He is in the

Please welcome a player whose achievements have inspired a new

generation of snooker fans back home. Winner of 11 ranking titles in

all, this year he has done it the hard way, coming through qualifying

to book a fourth Crucible quarterfinal, beating Judd Trump

yesterday, he will be full of confidence, the Chinese dragon, Ding

Junhui! His opponent, a player who first

appeared in" a final 18 years ago, pricey champion of the world, he is

without doubt one of the finest sportsmen his country has ever

produced. After victories over Graeme Dott and Michael Holt, one of

the most laid-back characters in the sport, the Welsh legend Mark

Williams! On table two, please welcome a

player who this week joins the sport's elite, after a brilliant

second round win over Mark Allen he has climbed into the wild's top 16

for the first time as he can test his first Crucible quarterfinal. A

fabulous fortnight so far for the warrior Kyren Wilson.

Multiple Masters champion, UK champion, completed snooker's

trouble-prone winning the big one here two years ago, his finest

moment in the sport so far, the world number one, the Jester from

Leicester, Mark Selby! We are ready for another great day

of snooker in Sheffield. Mark Williams against Ding Junhui is

available on the red button. With John Virgo and Peter Ebdon. We have

Mark Selby against Kyren Wilson. Good morning to Stephen Hendry.

Kyren Wilson breaking of what is going to be very interesting match.

Contrasting styles. Been very aggressive in this World

Championships so far. Mark Selby used to be very aggressive player

but seems to rely on a containing sort of game. He is capable of

scoring very heavily. He goes out and sees how things go. He is very

good at winning when he is not at his best. That is for sure.

Different challenge, this, for Kyren Wilson. Beat Mark Allen in the last

match. Mark is very aggressive. A quick player.

He has overdone mat. It must have caught the second red. You can see

it pretty full. I am not sure if he is looking for the brown in the

middle. He has got his aggressive head-on.

What is striking that was. This was not a given by any stretch. I think

this will be a good test of Kyren Wilson, this match. Mark Selby is

going to be tough but he is the toughest match player out there,

even when he is not scoring, he manages to find wins. With his

second or third game. Do you think with Ronnie O'Sullivan

going out the other players fancy their chances more? Yes, I should

think so. A lot of the big seeds have gone out, not just Ronnie

O'Sullivan. You felt as if if Ronnie O'Sullivan got to the semi-finals he

would be strong favourite. Believe a lot of good players in. A few of the

old days, the over 40s. My old friend Mark Williams is still

in fighting away. Looking as focused as ever this morning. What do you

mean old? I think this young man at the table has impressed me a lot

this tournament. I think he will fancy his chances in this event. He

looks very confident indeed. Very impressed with his play. Very

aggressive. In his first two matches he has been able to pot himself out

of trouble. It has been great to watch.

Did not pot it. Good shot. Pink or black. Once again he has slightly

overscrewed but he is better up there.

He will be trying to stamp his authority on this match early on,

Mark Selby, as the world number one. That was a nice position or shot.

Finishing dead straight you have to screw back for the blue.

After that pot, excellent cueing. He will be trying to imagine he can

make a cannon on the pink. He wants to hit the red between the pink and

black. He obviously felt the angle was too

thin on the black. I thought he could still have made that shot. It

has turned out well. He could play a cannon here, the red

closest to the middle pocket. He has just missed the cannon. He wants

that cue ball to stop. Quite a big target with the red just

off of the cushion. He is having a look. If it is tight

on the cushion, which it is, the one closest to the corner, he might be

tempted. If it was just off of the cushion I would not see him taking

this on but because it is tight it makes the pot a little bit easier.

There is just a little bit between the red and aggression. -- the

ocean. You could not say he played negatively.

Half expected him to make that one. A bit early in the day yet perhaps

for those type of shots. A bit more time on the table.

Another good pot. Pretty tough to win with room from this visit.

Looking so confident at the moment he sees any visit to the table as

the chance to win the frame. He has a good air of confidence

around the table, Kyren Wilson, something almost bordering on

arrogance, that is too strong a word, but that is what you need.

That is what has impressed me. Nice play to leave himself the

double. The angle he has got to cannot play at as a shot to nothing

so he is not going to play the double. He is going for the double.

It was not really 100% effort because of the speed he played it

at. He overhit that a bit. Put a fast

one in. He heads the ball quite hard. -- hits.

That is the third or fourth shot that Mark Selby has overscrewed this

morning. Maybe it is that time of day again, that you were talking

about. It is only the long ones that are harder in the morning. You are

not a week. You cannot see. We would expect them to start halting about

11am? Something like that? -- potting.

Controlled that one nicely. 22 ahead. 22 on the table. Just this

brown. It has taken him four or five

opportunities but finally Mark Selby looks as if he has taken his first

frame. Not going to bother with the pink.

Mark Selby, the favourite, the world number one, takes the first frame of

this quarterfinal. We were talking about Mark Selby overscrewing shots.

We have a couple of examples. He is one of the best exponent in the game

of the screw shot. I've got the table might have been uncovered last

night because you are getting such area action this morning off of the

cue ball. He has overscrewed this one by about a foot. Maybe has

alarmed did not go off on time this morning. That long shot you

mentioned of Kyren Wilson. When you miss long shots it looks as if you

have hit them hard. He is a powerful striker of the ball.

This is the one. If it goes in... Nobody says a word. But miss it by

that distance. And it bounces around. Unfortunate to leave it. Was

easy for Mark Selby. Mark Selby breaks off in the second

frame. O'Sullivan out so he's the favourite. 10/3. Kyren Wilson, 11/1

for this tournament. These are the shots he's played well

so far. Risky shot. Made a lot of them. Close. On the black if it had

gone on. Has he left anything on for Mark Selby? Having a look at the red

in the middle. Must be tight. Blue, pink and black to play for

there. Good angle. Needs to get the red out of the way of the black. Bit

of a nuisance. Don't know if it is pottable to the left. He'll want

that as soon as possible. Finished low on the black here.

Red at the back of the pack... Will release a red to the right. Bit of

insurance. An angle on the black will make a bigger target. Might

have landed with enough, to come off the cushion? I was sure he played to

land low on the black. Red to black, last one, was poor, for me.

Started off well in the first frame then broke down. Same again. You

have to say, not the best safety shot from Mark Selby.

Looks like a natural angle. Gap between red and black, but had stun

on it. Made it harder. Hasn't been lucky. Big part of the game, that,

when your opponent misses. Leaves you it, or covers it. Changes things

quickly. A bad shot could gain you an advantage. Kyren Wilson didn't

play a good safety, but forced Mark Selby to take it on. It was a

pressure shot. That was horrendous contact. Bounce

as soon as the cue ball hits it. All the pace out of it.

Soul destroying for a snooker player, when that happens!

Especially when you have a chance. Black is still pottable. Off two

cushions. Nice pot. But needs another good

one. Playing into the Reds. Wanted a thicker contact. This is a tester!

Very well played. Tough shot, that. Took the black with a lot offside.

Didn't quite turn out as intended. Another half awkward red...

Missable. He knew he should have got better position. Yeah. Never had the

cue ball under control. Unfortunate with the kick, but... After that...

Never had pinpoint position. And he has to take his chances, Kyren

Wilson because if it goes tactical, scrappy, you have to fancy Mark

Selby for the majority of those. Good shot there.

Not 100% sure what he played there... Thin edge of the red on the

left? And he hit the pink. Skim off that? Not an easy escape. Could

leave something on if he's not careful. Here we go.

That's one of the poorest safety shots I've ever seen Mark Selby

play! Nowhere near the pink, the cue ball.

Forced himself into playing a pot, possibly. Long yellow? Safe place

for the cue ball, the yellow pocket. Taken a few risky shots on. That's

the way he plays. Missing them won't bother him. But the distances he's

missing by will. Miss it or you pot it!

I think when you miss it by a mile, you've hit it bad. All in,

disappointed to miss. I cannot believe I am loving this demented

with you. -- having this argument. Great effort. Can't get enough of

the red to stun the cue ball, snooker. Send the red to baulk.

Played that off two cushions to knock the red down the table. Missed

completely. 21 points, the difference. Mark Selby in front.

Just needs the yellow. But going over the brown has made it more

difficult. Asking for the spider. Looks as if he's playing a safety.

Behind the black? That's so tough. Even when he's not

scoring heavy, he still wins such a high percentage of frames. Why it's

going to be a big test for Kyren Wilson. Good hit. Big test of his

game and patience. Pink and black, not easy to play a

good safety from here. 27 behind. So can only tie. Second favourite at

the moment. Not his best, that. Blue is OK.

Tight on that cushion and tougher to clear up. Mark Selby could take it

on... Didn't get close! Hard to say if he took that one or

not. Got the snooker! May force a chance out of Mark Selby.

Look at his hand. Wiping something. Left hand. Not sure what happened.

His bridge hand. How good is this? Great shot! This

is nasty! Doesn't give a miss. Because it's 27

points. They change that rule. Used to be a miss... Now, makes a big

difference. Tough shot to get out of.

Clever shot. Deliberately used the blue. Snooker.

Has it run far enough? Got the potting angle? Even if he can't see

it, can play a good snooker. Bit of left hand side on that.

Couldn't quite get the potting angle. That's the important one.

Nothing special so far. Good safety. Few small breaks.

28 minutes. It goes to Mark Selby and he leads 2-0.

Kyren Wilson breaks of in frame three. Never had an idea what sort

of match he was in for this morning, if not, those first few frames are

going to give him a clue. Get the frames won early or you are going to

end up in a small tactical battle. -- slow. He never seems to lose many

of those frames, Mark Selby, those slow tactical frames, so clever.

Good try. I think he was concentrating on the cue ball as

well, but he can get on a baulk colour and get started. 25%, Kyren

Wilson. Not great at the moment but I am sure they will warm up.

As the yellow cup to Mark Selby's rescue? I suggest now. -- no. Seeing

of the black is available to the right corner. Play at pace to stay

on the black. That was a very attacking shot. It

was the right shot that when you are 2-0 down it is much more difficult.

Mark Selby has a very good chance here. Really nice set of reds.

I was just looking at my watch first to see the time. Joking aside, this

is an excellent chance to win the frame. The reds are perfect. The

action he gets on the cue ball... Watch the cue ball accelerate when

it hits that red. Incredible timing. I honestly do not think there is

anyone in the game gets as much action on those screw shots as Mark

Selby. Coming up for his fifth black. You

would not put the reds in a much better position if you were thinking

about making a maximum. I am sure he is not thinking about that yet. He

certainly will not be now I do not think.

I am sure Mark was thinking of maybe a cannon on the red next to the

pink. You would still expect him to get this. Not the red he was playing

for. This is what he can do. He can grind you down for two frames. Small

breaks and excellent tactical snooker and then the next frame hit

you with a big century. If he had got the cannon he might have had a

big century. That is very care for Mark Selby. Cannon the red

underneath the pink. Thinking about it. He is going towards that red.

You wanted to be full ball cannon on that red.

The plant, the pink could be on the way of the red. If he can just get

past the pink... XD -- 69 in front. Just this black

needed. You would think he has probably done

enough to win this frame. The amount of time players do not pot the next

ball just stop their opponent coming the table. This frame could last ten

or 15 minutes longer than it should have.

Probably going to go cushion first off of the black by the look of it.

Very gentle. Excellent shot. Lovely touch. Yes, the reason he had to

play at that pace was because he had to keep the black over the pocket.

Very well played. The red closest to the pink, he might keep that one and

pot the other three reds, that would be ideal to get ease snooker behind

the pink. Did not want that. Did not want that

at all. He still has options. The red to the left of the black is an

option. That red he just kissed was perfect for eight snooker.

He is struggling a bit now. Looking at the scoreboard to check if it

would be OK to go for the blue possibly. Any hole for the black.

Not much point in playing a snooker at this stage. There are two reds

that are easy to hit. 47 behind with 43 remaining. He is

going to need one snooker to tie for the opportunity to pot two reds and

two blacks. More likely to pot their son get onto that red and end up

higher on the pink. He should not have kissed this red

when he did. He has a is again right behind it. Not the easiest shot to

escape from. The pocket on the right-hand side to hit the cushion.

Yes, and if he misses this he will not want to put the cue ball into

the baulk area because there is every chance of leaving a free ball.

If he has to play this to the side makes it more difficult to play it

slowly. I think he had to play with pace to

get the side on. He was swerving round. Good hit. I cannot think of

many more difficult players in the game than Mark Selby to try to get a

successful snooker against. This looks very good. Excellent shot. He

would possibly have liked that red to come away from the cushion more.

It is a much bigger target where it has landed.

REFEREE: foul. The obvious problem is he needs a

black to tie. Up and down the table. He needs to miss the brown. After

that brilliant snooker he is back to square one again. Worse than that.

He needs two snookers. I thought he might have refused that

red, said the red back up the table, play a safety, it was always going

to be tough to get back down to play that black. Yes, he had to force the

white. If it had been slightly thinner he would have been OK. Still

in it. The brown is in a good position to get a snooker. Then the

blue, if he gets that far. He does not seem too happy with that one.

He is looking to screw behind the blue. Not easy from where he has

stopped. He is potting it. The pace is always difficult when

you are playing that thin. Mark Selby with a break of 69 in

that frame helps him to take a 3-0 lead in this match. We were talking

about the spin that these players get on, especially Mark Selby. You

can see him get into the pack. Watch the cue ball. Hits one red and a

second and accelerates so those two reds are going to take some of the

pace and he still has a tremendous amount of spin, and it gives him a

great chance. You can see it spinning backwards as it goes

forward. Then enter the path of reds it is going almost sideways. It

comes along to move a few reds about. Very skilful shot.

Mark Selby has a 3-0 lead. An unfamiliar position for Kyren Wilson

who had a 7-0 lead in his last match against Mark Allen. He is on the

other side of the coin. He has to keep his belief and concentration.

A huge test for Kyren Wilson to get a good result out of this session.

He must find -- I always find even if you have a bad session it is

about damage limitation, trying to get out with as good a result as you

can. Sometimes you can lose a session 5-3 or 6-2 and the

difference can be massive. It is very tiring out there, it is the

pressure rather than the physical side that you go through, tight

matches. You are on again the next day. It is not easy to sleep after

things like that either. You have been through it enough. Yes, and

also three qualifiers still in the quarterfinals who have played three

matches prior to this main event. That is a poor shot.

He lost 4-0 twice against Mark Allen in the second and third session, he

lost four frames, but it was a different situation, he was still

well in front. This time he has nothing on the board so far. Good

shot, good position, and other good pot. It is always a sign of someone

who is not striking the ball as good as they would like, because you are

always struggling for position. The last black he should never have been

typed on the cushion for the red and he have to force it. You are always

fighting for perfect position. It is tougher and tougher. " flowers or

not too bad if you are 3-0 in front. You can deal with the rest with

spin. It makes it more difficult when you are behind. Mark Selby does

not seem to have done that much but he is so efficient. He plays so well

most of the time. He comes through getting results and you think, what

did he do? He is a winning machine. I love that.

Another example of a screw shot played perfectly by Mark Selby. If

he has landed straight on this red it is unfortunate. Perfect striking.

This red just to the left of the cue ball opens up more reds. To the left

corner pocket. Go for the pink this time. Possibly up for the blue, but

I think role of obligation for the pink to the right corner.

He has quite an unorthodox cue action, but it works, it is very

good, it is all you want, it delivers the cue at different speeds

every time and pulls it back quite a long way, the final backswing. Then

with instinct he delivers the cue at different speeds to get the spin and

the judgment and the pace he needs. No, he is not on it. He is shaking

his head. Looked Burton to be on one of those reds for an easy pot, but

he is not. Very unfortunate. Just brushed the green. Could be end

of break. The double. Risky. If you miss the

double, no idea where the red goes. 26 point lead.

Could have gone wrong. Never sure where the red finishes up. I only

said it was dodgy because I was useless at doubles! These guys seem

to do it so easily. Nice cannon. Looks like 4-0. Worrying for that

young man in the seat. I am sure Mark Selby will just be

pleased to win the frame, but always nice to get a century at the

Crucible. This will be his fifth if he gets

it. 59th of the Championship so far. Played for the green. Magic figure

on the Reds is 73. Looking smooth out there now. Good

player, in control of himself, the cue action. Very composed.

Excellent, from Mark Selby, world number one, Kyren Wilson behind 4-0.

We will get back to that, shortly, we can talk to Stephen Hendry. It

has been incredible, how Mark Selby plays matches. Started off not doing

a lot, but you expect him, to win the tacticals, killer blow, it is

going to be a big test, for Kyren Wilson. And what have you made of

him? Obviously, going to be nervous, semifinal? Obviously, after the

result last night, Ronnie O'Sullivan, going out, so many are

going to fancy their chances. Missed some long balls. By a long way. That

is not to do his confidence any good. And just against a tremendous

match player. Does not seem to be doing a lot, but frames on the

board. Mark Selby came over, for a chat, on Saturday, just getting over

the line but he was furious. That is the mark of a champion? Meticulous?

Very rarely wins easily. 11-7 up. Then it was 11-11. He wants to start

killing matches off, making it easier, he could always do Kyren

Wilson's brains in! Because of you does not get going, I would be

worried. We will rejoin that, and if you have just woken up, you could be

wondering what has happened to Ronnie O'Sullivan. It was cracking,

against Barry Hawkins. Well done. How's the cue ball? Perfect! Ronnie

will be at least 40 behind in a few moments.

That is all you ask for in the final frame. A chance. Can he hold himself

together? Beat Ronnie for the first time in 14 years? At the biggest

stage of all? Then if he clears up from here, you

could give him the title! And this, it has been drumming this --

tremendous pressure. So quiet! So important. Bounce in his step as

well. Because even if he does break down, such a big lead. This is the

first pressure shot. Straight on the black? All pressure shots here! Even

the easy shots! If Hawkins, what he can't do... Try too hard.

Takes special players to be calm in these circumstances. They've done it

before but it's tough. Very, very good. Potted 16 of 17 with the rest.

That was the most important. Kick off the table the last three

frames, lead has dwindled. But an excellent break at the right time.

Ronnie may get back to the table, before Barry's in the position where

he needs snookers. 47 in front. Needs at least two

Reds. Played for the one nearest the left pocket. Wanted an angle for

blue or brown. Doesn't want to rest in between!

Ronnie will come back to the table! In almost an impossible position to

win. Touching ball? That would be a result. Push the pink safe? Just

double checking it's touching! White on the left hand side? Ronnie could

be in big trouble. Under the circumstances, one of the best

breaks of the match. That has brought two into play. Not

too sure if the red in the middle cuts from here. It doesn't. Barry

doesn't want to bring Reds off the cushion. Could play a thin one.

Surprised at that. I thought he'd have cut the other one.

Wow! Oh... On the black. Just nudged from the pocket! Perfect! If Ronnie

gets back and wins it, I believe in miracles!

Trying to get big colours for these Reds. So when it gets to the nitty

gritty, he doesn't need a big one. Worth the risk. Yellow still in

play. Barry sitting there... Wondering.

Oh! That should be the end of the match. Didn't get the spin on. I

thought, a good chance there. Brown could have brought the other red in.

Barry feels it passes. Remarkable match. Barry Hawkins hasn't beaten

Ronnie for 14 years. All the top seeds going so far. Apart from world

number one Mark Selby but that is the end! An old, then Ronnie

O'Sullivan, so disappointed, having got back into it. He will be

buzzing, Barry. Undoubted match of the Championship, so far. Handshake!

Barry Hawkins has done what he has not done for 14 years, defeated

Ronnie O'Sullivan, for the first time in 14 years. That was tough.

Really tough. He threw everything at me. I do not know how he think he

was pleading, but overall the two sessions, he was not missing

anything, my safety was good, I was treating chances, so to finally get

one over him, after 14 years, whatever it has been, and the last

few performances, so pleasing. I just want to say that Barry has

played a fantastic match, and I want to wish him well for the rest of the

competition. But it was difficult, because I thought I was getting

beaten to the punch, unless I won in one visit. I was losing, all those

frames, it could've been a different story. I do know what it was like,

but goodness knows what it must have been like for them. It was sporting,

from Ronnie, to be watching Barry all the best? Did he have some luck?

As Ronnie had said, all the tactical frames, Barry seem to be winning.

And he thought that if he got one visit, it could have been over. But

I think that is harsh, to say that it was run of the balls. Ronnie was

getting break after break what Barry was keeping focus, doing so well. Do

you think that Barry has got what it takes, to reach the final?

Absolutely. No doubt about that. And that he cannot take enormous

confidence from a result like that, then you are never going to do it.

It is important not to start thinking ahead. It would be easy,

for people to tell them, you have defeated Ronnie, so you have done

it, what's the long way to go. And on social media, a lot of

disappointment, for the casual snooker viewer, because Ronnie has

gone out, what do you make of how he has done? And off the table? I do

not know. You just never see him. That is the correct we to be. You do

not want to be mixing, getting overfamiliar. But on the table, he

has the sharp, immense. Key has been doing exhibitions, and all the team,

getting big breaks, but could be rusty with tactical frames. And who

is going to win? I think all the major keys for themselves, but Selby

is going to be difficult to beat. Thank you. Back to the commentators.

15 minutes for the interval there, after four frames. This has been all

Selby till now. Looking good. Very smooth. Potting

the balls clean. That came as a shock! All missable,

of course. But he has been looking so good, so far.

Can he squeeze a mistake out of Mark Selby with that safety shot? You can

see, snookered on all the Reds. Don't think he can get past the

blue. The red to the right of the pink? Have to be careful here.

Looks to me, no matter which way he goes in, how many cushions, danger

involved. Can't believe he did it that way.

Such a difficult shot to take on. Had to hit that much thinner. Caught

it half ball. Oh... Again. Not the most positive

strike. Mark Selby is going to take this red

on, far left. Just looking at where he would leave the cue ball if he

missed. I think this red near the baulk is

pottable. Everything now, at 4-0, the difficulty is magnified. Not

taking it on. Looking to see where he would leave the cue ball. Or...
