Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to Sportscene.

The top flight are back in action after the international break,

we'll round up all the remaining Premiership fixtures of the weekend

plus results from all around the country and all in the company

of two familiar faces, Steven Thompson and Craig Paterson.

The action is well underway so let's get around the grounds starting

with champions Celtic at home to Motherwell

1-0 to Celtic, they have just had another chance, Mr Bimbo Leander the

bar, -- over Motherwell have contained them very

well. They were on the end of a 5-0 hammering this season. They did not

need like that this day, Sinclair with the only goal. After the Mr Dem

a fabulous piece of skill from Kieren Tierney which could have

resulted in goal of the season. Smashing the ball of the bar. Celtic

are playing within themselves. 74 minutes on the clock and may lead

1-0. Aberdeen are at home to Ross County

and Scott Davie is at the drudgery. They are leading by 3-0, but rather

like at Celtic Park, it is flattering to the away team. It

could have been six or seven. Goals from Hayes, Logan, Niall McGinn just

swept in a delightful third. It has been a disastrous day for Ross

County who had Tim Chow marked his first starting appearance with a

straight red card midway through the first half. Ross County's 's chances

of salvaging anything went with it. They have now gone over 370 minutes

without scoring a single goal. It is a full house at Tynecastle for

heart against Dundee. The Dundee manager will be scratching his head

trying to work out how his side are trailing. Four times, Dundee have

hit the woodwork this afternoon. They have not been the dominant

force, hearts have created plenty of chances and they just made the

breakthrough. Callum Paterson, such a goal threat for Hearts, finding a

way through. They have still feel for Dundee. Twice, hitting the wood

block woodwork. And a smashed header off the crossbar as Dundee try to

find a breakthrough goal here. Goals hard to come by here for Dundee.

That is how it is proving this afternoon. Partick Thistle started

the day at the bottom of the table, have they moved from that? They are

on course to do so, they lead by two goals to one. They had to come from

behind, starting really well, a beautiful save from Ryan Scully. Ali

Crawford sent the ball in from the corner and Massimo Donati getting

them in the lead. They have only won one of their nine games this season,

and the frailties at the back were again evident as Partick Thistle got

a quick equaliser. The cross was headed from Hearts, and Ryan Edwards

was on hand to knock the ball into the net for the equaliser. And Liam

Lindsay was up from the back to head past 40 third goal. It was all in

the first half. The second half has been just as captivating, they are

pressing for an equaliser, they will feel very hard done by if Hamilton

lose. Last but not least, Perth for St

Johnstone against Kilmarnock. Still goalless, St Johnstone better but

needing some kind of spark with Kilmarnock when old -- relying on

some great saves. Martin Smith hesitated in defence allowing

someone to slot home. The downfall has been a lack of effort. Chris

Cain came close to the second-half header. Jordan Jones has threatened

down the left, McKenzie said one header in. All of the action has

been towards the Kilmarnock goal in the second half. One bizarre moment,

and I do know that the ball has just hit the back of the net and it is

Kilmarnock! It is Scott Boyd who has got on the end of it, and strangely

as often happens in football, the visitors who have been so good at

the back have gone ahead at this game.

Good timing from the Premiership. In the championship, Queen of the

South, let's find out what is going on there. Around 1700 here this

afternoon at 150 Morton fans are making all of the noise. They

currently lead 5-0. Jim Dudley has spotted a weaker than the of the

South. Forbes scored, and Gary Oliver made it 3-0 before the break.

More of the same in the second half. Quitongo adding to the scoring, the

fifth coming from Thomas oh well. A real shock for Queens.

Now to Raith Rovers where they host Hibernian. It is goalless, Hibernian

down to ten men, their third red card in four league matches,

reacting angrily, Barkley kicked out and the referee had no hesitation in

sending him. Raith Rovers have had and the referee had no hesitation in

very little to show their efforts. In the second half has been one to

very little to show their efforts. not waste paper taking notes.

Here are the results, and the results that really stands out is

the Morton results. The score at the moment. That is incredible, with

them building on this semifinal, you take your foot off the gas often.

Jim will be hoping that players want to play that semifinal and perform

today, and they will play against Aberdeen next week. Aberdeen have

just scored again so let's go back there. Jade and Stockley showing

strength and depth that Aberdeen has. -- Jaden Stockley. They are

conceding their fourth of the afternoon, Ross County. Just a few

minutes to go here. Aberdeen have hit a bit of form as late. Four wins

going into today and they have found the form that saw them challenge and

spent last season. They have been outstanding today, helped the

sending-off, this will be the fourth league win in the road. A perfect

warm up, much like Morton, going into the semifinal. It is setup to

be cracking game. You have had eight brief look at the sending-off for

Ross County, we will see it in more detail tomorrow, but your initial

thoughts? I thought it was tough on the player. Two players, going in

opposite directions, Tim Chow has jumped into the tackle a little bit

but he has led with his left foot and brought his right foot into

tackle the ball, and the left foot has gone down the shin of Johnny

Hayes, that is what the referee has seen. But I saw it once thought it

was a tough decision. But referees are told now they have got a on

this. It probably cost Ross County their chances of taking the lead.

You would have got a pat on the back! It was too fitted and he was

off the ground, so as soon as you do that, it is an opportunity for the

referee to send you. You can see that tomorrow. Another goal here? I

said that Hamilton were to feel hard Bandara if they would lose, but they

have pulled themselves level. -- hard done by. The substitute gets

the equaliser, he was able to tuck the ball past the keeper. It is no

more than they deserve. There could be a winner.

The Premiership action got underway last night in Inverness, Caley

Thistle were unbeaten in five as they welcomed Rangers and it was a

100th goal of the club, secured in sensational fashion. You were there,

in the Highlands, it was some finish? A brilliant goal, Cali Cecil

should have scored earlier. -- Caley Thistle. Rangers started to get

It was half a chance, he could not hit it better. I thought Kenny was

going to spend this year coaching, he is playing too well. It is a

great ball, a sensational finish from the striker. He just keeps

going and going. It is to the credit of him, I and the similar age to him

and I can tell you it is hard to maintain this level. He keeps

producing, the three goals have all been match-winning goals. Motherwell

at the last minute, at Dundee and this one getting three points. He

probably should start next weekend at the Old Firm but he is one of the

options Rangers have. He tried an overhead bicycle kick. I am just

full of praise for him. He has been sensational once again. Rangers were

much more like the Rangers that we saw last season, they were directed

and controlled a lot of the game. They did not quite take their

chances and Inverness rallied in the second half and could have sneaked

something. They refused to go away, they keep themselves in games. He

could have saved that. A brilliant save, well cleared, and having mist

header earlier in the game, Alex Fisher off the bench and what a

chance. I could see the manager head in hands. He knew they were not get

a better opportunity. The ball from Aaron Doran, it in acres of space.

You can see he was trained to get across to where the keeper was

coming from but it is a 50p ball. You have touched on the Old Firm

derby, do you feel that Rangers are better equipped this time? We have

got the background story of Joe not playing, have equipped with a? --

how equipped are they? It is going to help that they are in a neutral

ground, they will be equipped. The midfield was all wrong going into

the previous game. The confidence and momentum going into the previous

this game. They have back-to-back wins. I think Rangers will get a

better account but Celtic will win. Do we ever see Joey Barton in a

Rangers shirt again? I cannot see it, the suspension going on and on,

the captain was involved in the argument, I think the manager was

telling everybody where he stood. Let's go back around the grounds and

see what is happening this afternoon. Let's start at Celtic

Park. You come just as Celtic are awarded at penalty. Dembele upended

as he was running away, Celtic have been huffing and puffing, 1-0 up

with Scott Sinclair. The ball breaking to the back post after a

Dembele fresh air shot. Motherwell have remained disciplined and

organised in this match so far. 5-0 for them earlier in the season.

Dembele places the ball on the spot, he will take it, 12 goals already

for the French man this season. And it is right into the back of the

net, 2-0 Celtic, 86 minutes on the clock. Three points are secure. That

was good timing yet again. We are going well this afternoon. Let's go

to Tynecastle. Hearts against Dundee.

Sorry, we do not seem to have Jonathan there. Let's go to Martin

Dowden at St Johnstone. Five minutes left of the 90, St Johnstone zero,

Kilmarnock one. I was going to sake smash and grab but it has not really

been that way. St Johnstone have dominated for long spells, but they

have not created enough going forward. Jamie MacDonald has only

had a few says to have. One goal ruled out for offside. This could be

a precious three points for the ruled out for offside. This could be

clock. Thanks to Scott Boyd, they are one up. Let's go to Hamilton

now. Almost impeccable timing again, as close chance for Hamilton, but

saved by its Thistle. They have had a few opportunities, Thistle,

Elliott and Booth denied. We are heading for air draw which would

extend the winless runs for both sides. It is probably a fair result.

Celtic continuing their run in the Premiership, just that one game

where they did not get maximum points, and Dembele knocking in a

penalty, what a player he has been for Celtic. But we have now got

Leigh Griffiths fighting for place, what a headache for Brendan Rodgers.

The best kind of headache. It is since the Old Firm game where he

scored a hat-trick, he has been scoring in the high profile games,

veggie every week, looking like a real talent. He has been scoring for

the U21 national side as well. It will be frustrating for Leigh

Griffiths. But Dembele was out of the team at the beginning of the

season and had to wait in the wings. It is a fantastic problem for the

manager. Leigh Griffiths has to try and prove himself again to get a

place in the team. He has hurdled every challenge he has been given

since going to Celtic, he has matched every challenge, this is the

next one. The manager knows what he has got in Leigh Griffiths, he is a

real good player, guaranteeing 15 or 20 goals. He has been injured, they

need to be careful it does not come back to haunt him. When you have got

people scoring every week, Leigh Griffiths will not like being on the

bench but he will understand that these guys are in full, he has to

bide his time and get his chance and once he gets in he will get the

goals and it will be hard to get him out again. There has been a goal at

Tynecastle. It is for Hearts, and it is going to be 2-0 four Hearts at

Tynecastle this afternoon. The goal scored by Bjorn Johnson, the

substitute for Conor Sammon. Here he is, helped by the Hearts support as

he makes sure of the three points. It is tough on Sunday, they have hit

the woodwork four times this afternoon. And also a header wide of

the post not long ago. Hearts are grinding it out this afternoon.

Keeping pace with Aberdeen today, both of them winning, they have been

on a great run, one defeat in seven matches, they are hitting form and

looking good under Robbie Neilson. They are, we were watching it coming

in here today and in the first half Dundee defended really well. They

have been unlucky. They have hit the post on four occasions. Hearts were

struggling to create once again. But a towering header from Callum

Paterson, two well earned points, and they have upped their game.

Dundee will be disappointed because a large part of the game they

offered so much. Chiquita Dundee but the full-time score. To come in. --

it has been a tricky time for Dundee. Queen of the South now. A

result that few could have predicted as their visitors Morton have taken

five goals from the league leaders. They were a bit short going into the

game, Queen of the South, and they looked under strength in midfield,

Morton exploiting that a great effect. Ross Ford put them in front

after five minutes. That was then doubled, and then Gary Oliver made

three, all of the goals from the right wing from Morton. Queens had

more pressure in the second half but failed to turn it into anything

tangible. Thomas sealed the victory 18 minutes

from the end. It finishes 5-0. And incredible results for Morton. They

have the semifinal on the horizon. A game at Hampden, it is saying, go

out and put yourself in my final team. People do not want to miss out

because they have played poorly. They are going well at the moment,

they have been kicking of good results. Last season they won at

Easter Road, they drew at Ibrox. Away from home they are good at

playing. The results, I can see Morton winning the game but 5-0,

could not see that coming. The first defeat in the league for Queen of

the South. Let's go to Dumbarton. It is three for Ayr, Alan Forrest

getting all three points. He started after he went to go on after three

minutes, almost carbon copy at the beginning of the second half. He

blasted home to make two, Street was on the hour mark, from the penalty

spot. -- the third was on the hour mark. Ayr United are now five points

clear of second bottom Dumbarton. The first of the Premiership

full-time schools are in. Let's go to Partick against Hamilton. It

finished 2-2, it extends the winless run for both sides, Thistle eight

games, Hamilton five. Not a result but does either side any favour. But

on balance the right result. Academical started really well,

Massimo Donati heading in a corner. The Thistle equaliser was not come

in coming, -- 's slow in coming. And then they went ahead just before

half-time with Liam Lindsay. The substitute came in to get the

equaliser in the 80s admitted. A really entertaining match

throughout. To Celtic against Motherwell. 2-0 to

Celtic. Efficiency rather than entertainment from the champions

this afternoon. The visitors contained Celtic pretty well for the

first 18 minutes, and then across found Sinclair in deep back post and

then goal number eight for Sinclair, but the steelmen failed to crumble.

Celtic pushed on, Dembele hit the bar, 1-shot resulting in a standing

ovation. The game progressed, Celtic hot and puffed but Motherwell

remained disciplined and organised. Five minutes to go, Dembele was

upended in the box, stepped up and made no mistake, giving Samson no

chance. 13 of the season for him. Motherwell fell 5-0 here earlier in

the season but three points for the home side ahead of a huge Champions

League match on Wednesday. Three points to Celtic and I am sure

it must be three points for Aberdeen, they were cruising against

Ross County. Aberdeen 4-0 to Ross County, it could easily have been

double that. It is a day for Ross County as miserable as the weather

here this afternoon. It started badly because Johnny Hayes rifled in

the first goal of the afternoon in 20 minutes, Marcus Fraser backing of

understandably because he had already been booked for flattening

the Irish winger. Tim Chao got a straight red card to mark his first

starting appearance for Ross County and from then on, it was backs to

the wall for them. It was a bit like shooting practice. Adam Rooney

making some good moves and making some good space but surprisingly for

him, lacking his usual touch. Probably just as well for Ross

County. It was left for Logan to make it two, his second of the

season. He clipped in a rebound. In the second half, Ross County showed

plenty of determination and effort to keep the score down but Niall

McGinn swept home the third after 68 minutes after more fine play from

Logan who was able to attack at will. And neglect defensive duties

this afternoon. Then Stockley coming off the bench to show the strength

and depth in Aberdeen, had his good on the 80 -- 78 minute. He will be

satisfied with the fifth win on the trot, the manager. Second successive

one for Ross County. They have not scored for awhile.

Let's go now to Hearts Dundee. Hearts take all three points. But

Dundee should take home the woodwork, they hit it four time. It

must be hugely frustrating for Paul Hartley. His side struggling for

goals these last few weeks, he created chances. A free kick was

cold over the bar, grazing the bar. He hit it again -- cold over the

bar. The bar with hit again in the second half, but let's not get

carried away with Dundee. Hearts second half, but let's not get

carried out lots of chances, maybe not as good as the Dundee chances

but they peppered the Dundee goal for large parts of the match. Callum

Paterson a goal threat. It was Patterson who would make the

breakthrough in the match. He crashed hammerhead. It was, some's

replacement who made sure the point of the home side. Another three

points for the coach Robbie Neilson. Paul Hartley will be scratching his

head. Let's go to the final Premiership

fixture, St Johnstone against Kilmarnock. Scott Boyd earned

Kilmarnock three points, a close range effort proving decisive late

on. The visitors can thank the goalkeeper Jamie Donaldson who

produced fantastic saves to keep his firm level. The second was a

produced fantastic saves to keep his fingertip denial. They had more

possession, territory and corners but not goals, St Johnstone. They

lacked the cutting edge in the last third. Cummings looked likely to

have been earning an equaliser but his strike was blocked. Kilmarnock

dug in and dug out a result. The goal is the first ever effort on

target in over 180 minutes. That rounds up the Premiership,

let's go back into the championship. Falkirk against undetermined. --

Dunfermline. It was a straight win against the team, a scoreline that

could have been much greater. Sibbald latching onto a lovely

through ball. Number two was a magnificent solo effort from Miles

Hippolyte. He went through four defenders before getting a great

shot. There should have been a third, a volley blocked. They

thought they might be able to snatch a point, Dunfermline, but there was

no way to a strong Fulco regard. Was this a great advert for

Championship football at Raith Rovers? In a word, no. Goalless

here, a first half punctuated by niggling challenges, numerous

appeals from both sides for the referee for decisions to be given in

the favour of the teams, it got quite tiresome. The talking point of

the first half came after 13 minutes, Hibs clearing, Raith Rovers

conceded a free kick, but Barkley kicked out in front of the referee

who showed a straight red card. In the second half, a booking for

simulation as a dive for a penalty. Hibs were not prepared to sit back,

they set a low cross a cross but they could not find a finishing

touch. Neither manager will view this afternoon with great fondness.

Your former team Hibs, another game without a win, but they go top just

after that point. So bittersweet afternoon. More to do with Queen of

the South losing 5-0, so the goal difference works in Hibs's favour.

They cannot keep doing this with ten men, that is five games without a

win. I think it was Barkley off, he has been off twice, Hibs are making

it difficult. Queen of the South are still involved, Falkirk are just a

point behind, Dundee United are getting close. It will be a race at

the table of the table for the automatic promotion.

Dundee United Web visiting Saint Mirren and Kenny Crawford was there.

No dream start for Jack Ross in his first game in charge. They are now

without a league win in nine games. Dundee United's former Hamilton man

who is on loan was at all things good about the Tangerines' play. He

had a nice flick that played in Scott Fraser who calmly slotted into

the corner to put Ray McKinnon's men ahead. Murray's effort was blocked

by the edge of the box. It was a wonderful, perfect chip into the top

corner. I think it makes them championship top corner scorer at

the moment. Shanklin and Clarkson also went very close. But Dundee

United make it four games unbeaten. Let's round up the afternoon as we

bring you the classified football results.

In the Scottish premiership Celtic is on top and Aberdeen and Hearts

are second and third after their wins. Dundee now props up the table

at the bottom on goal difference. In the championship Hibernian are the

new leaders just. St Mirren is still rooted to the bottom of the table.

Manchester City's lead has been reduced after a draw. At the bottom

half of the table Sunderland is still rooted at the bottom. Swansea

are into the bottom three and Stoke City moved out after the win against

Sunderland. Huddersfield town played tomorrow.

Rotherham United is still at the bottom. Aston Villa play later

tonight. Let's check in with some of the top matches south of the border

in the English Premier League. We will start with the champions

Leicester city who were at Chelsea. A convincing and controlled victory

for Chelsea that was settled in the first dominant 45 minutes. Diego

Costa gets his seven of the season. Lester did not threaten at all. In

fact David Louise might have had a third in the first half. Leicester

City showed more desire and tempo in the second half, but they did not

threaten the Chelsea goal. Victor Moses got his second league goal of

the season. Back-to-back wins for Antonio Conte's team. Real problems

for Leicester. So to the league leaders and

Manchester City at home to Everton. There were two fine penalty saves

which ultimately denied Manchester City all three points in a game that

they dominated. Kevin De Bruyne was denied from the spot. After the

break Everton took the lead. Lukaku got his sixth goal of the season.

Sergio Aguero gave away a second penalty. But it was missed. Nolito

headed an equaliser on his 30th birthday. It is always a tricky trip

to the hawthorns. West Brom against Spurs, Martin Fisher was there. It

looked as though Nassir Chadli had won it against his former club. But

eight minutes from time it was his fourth from four in the Albion. But

Dele Alli squeeze one hand, I very much deserved equaliser for

Tottenham. They were largely dominant throughout. Ben Foster

produced four great saves in the first half. Toby Alderweireld was

stretchered off, so worrying for him. With Manchester City's drawer,

Arsenal could go level with a win against Swansea. And it has finished

3-2, six wins out of six for Arsenal, but only just. The Arsenal

supporters are filing past me and shaking their heads, frustrated with

their players for not taking their chances and for making errors in

defence. Mesut Ozil Bollywood home on his birthday. But there was poor

Arsenal defending. Xhaka was shown a controversial red card for a

cynical, but not too dangerous pal. Swansea should have equalised in Bob

Bradley's first game in charge. Dreadful finishing from Swansea.

Arsenal fans are just relieved. Mike Phelan was officially announced as

Hull city's new boss this week, but it was not a great start as he went

to Bournemouth. Chris Weitz was there. A great afternoon for

Bournemouth, but a crushing defeat for Hull city. It is Bournemouth's

biggest ever Premier League win. Stanislas Wawrinka central figure in

the game. Callum Wilson and Dan Gosling added the late gloss as Hull

city completely capitulated. Ryan Mason's goal had them level at one

point, that SMM goals conceded in four games. It was a good day for

Stoke City and a good day for Joe Allen. Absolutely. Stoke

accomplished Sunderland's anguished, they were well below par. This was

another worrying performance by them. Stoke were much more like

their old selves. There are big names came out to play. The natives

are happy. We will get some reaction from around the Scottish grounds in

a minute and we will start with Aberdeen, another good performance

from them. You are watching it on the screen. A good performance and

great result. It is a massive result and it gives them momentum going

into the semifinal next weekend. They are playing with confidence and

place, they are not conceding goals. In the last two games they have

scored eight and you have to take them for next weekend. Let's hear

from Derek McInnis after their win over Ross County.

A second successive 4-0 win, is that satisfying afternoon? Very much so,

it is not easy to win five games in a row. From that first game, and the

players have played individually very strong, but as a team we have

that killer instinct to win the game. Today we had to overcome the

conditions and a tough opponent. A sending off can make the game a bit

more comfortable for us, but you have still got to keep on top of the

opponent because they are a competitive team. Before we knew

play against teams with ten men, you still have to do and play well. I

thought we were well in charge of the game and we missed umpteen

opportunities. One goal was disallowed. It was a good day's

work. You are able to bring on a player the quality of Jayden stop.

You also suffered an injury to Matt Taylor and you were able to bring

somebody on in his place. We are hoping it is not too bad, but it

does not look too bad. Reynolds was ready-made to come on. Jayden

Lockley has been training extremely well. During the international break

he was doing his work and he was training very well. All in all it

was a good, strong team performance. Another clean sheet, four goals. The

subs contributed again, it is all Another clean sheet, four goals. The

good. Scott Davie with the questions. At the opposition, Ross

County, they just cannot score goals. I know Scott Davie said the

actual number of they have not scored, but it is four games without

a goal. When you take Liam Boyce out of the team, what a difference that

makes. They have got seven goals this season and six from him. Nobody

else is scoring on the pitch and that is what they have to rectify

and they have got to get midfield players playing and last year they

had a magical season, the top six and a cup victory. They will come

back, but they need a top striker. Let's hear from Jim McIntyre who

spoke to Scott Davie after the match.

Difficult to come to Pittodrie at the best of times, but with a player

sent off, it makes the more difficult. It made it amounted to

for us, losing Tim so early. He has got to learn from it. He went in

with two feet and he went in on a side foot and that is something he

has got to learn, but it put us up against it against a good side who

have strengthened this season in terms of the squad. That made it a

difficult day for us. But we had a couple of good opportunities in the

first half. We really needed one of them to re-energise us and to make

things a bit brighter for us. We knew the next goal would be crucial

in the second half. We were hoping to get it. But as soon as it was

3-0, the game is done. Two of your strikers are out injured at the

moment. It was great play from Mike, he was unlucky, it was a couple of

inches too high and the keeper got a he was unlucky, it was a couple of

touch on it, so you have to give him credit for a good save. Losing Alex

and Craig for a couple of weeks is not a great deal, but we have got a

good squad. It was good in terms of the effort, but we need to get our

decision making better. When you are making tackles and when you are in

the box and putting balls into the box. That is where we fall short at

the moment, but that will come again because the quality in the dressing

room is good. I wonder if it was also frustration for Martin Canning,

how the academical still looking for their first win away from home.

I suppose in some ways you must be pleased you got the point, but on

balance you deserve more? Yes, probably. A slightly shaded it. Away

from home we will take a point and move on, but for us we missed

opportunities, but you can say the same for them. I thought for a large

swells of the game we controlled the game. If we can take chances, we can

definitely win games. There was a lot to be pleased about. I know that

going ahead in eight games out of nine is a great start, but you have

only got one victory. If you keep the way you are playing playing,

that eventually you will get victories? I think so. I am

reasonably pleased with the performance today. But when you

switch off from a free kick, you get done and it seems that teams do not

give as easy opportunities to score goals. I think a lot of it is

pleasing the eye and it looks good and we create opportunities, but we

conceded two goals. But we have got enough quality to win games. There

is one result we have not touch on and it is significant and that is a

big win for Kilmarnock today. It was a massive win and it is surprising

big win for Kilmarnock today. It was if you look at the last two results.

It was important for them today to stop conceding goals. I thought it

would be difficult for them and I did not see them getting a win, but

it is a massive win. It lifts them up into a bit of safety and it

really stopped the rot as it were. Dundee are in the bottom spot, it is

a tough place for them to be. They are struggling at the moment. They
