An absolute duty! Is this a bit of history? It is!

Coming to you live from the nation's capital, it is Saturday Night Live,

starring two of the top's most successful teams. This is the fourth

time this has happened. Featuring some of the country's brightest

talents. That is brilliant from Hayes. What a goal from Niall

McGinn! It is a glory goal. Tynecastle is rocking now. With two

of the touchline's top performers. Anything could happen. It's the

Scottish Cup fourth round. It's Saturday Night Live with your host,

Rob Maclean. I do like an understated

introduction. Taking centre stage in the Scottish capital, two teams who

have won the Scottish Cup 15 times between them, it is Hearts against

Aberdeen, live on the BBC. Our guests are Michael Stewart and

Willie Miller. The big Scottish Cup story so far today centres on lead

to Annan Athletic who only joined the senior school set up in 2008.

They have beaten Hamilton by 4-1. Plaudits for Stirling Albion who

held Inverness Cali pistol to a goalless draw and Dunfermline one

2-2 against Ross County. All the highlights later. Another Scottish

Cup story is about to unfold at Tynecastle. Our man which side is

Chris MacLachlan. The atmosphere is building up

nicely. Hearts had not scored in this competition since they famously

beat Hibernian 5-1 in the final in 2012. Let's look at the men that

Robbie Neilson turns to this evening. Juanmi drops to the bench.

Alim Ozturk comes to the centre of defence.

As for the Dons, they have a 100% record against Hearts in the league

this season, but they have never beaten them in the cup here at

Tynecastle. A recognisable starting XI.

The wide men of Hayes and McGinn are always dangerous, as is the striker,

Adam Reynolds. And intriguing starting XI. What is your thinking?

I brought Osman back in. He has been the main striker. He is ready to

come back in. I think it has make it stronger, the changes. Tynecastle

under the lights, this could be a cracker. I think it will lead great

game, two teams desperate to get through. A big crowd, it should be a

great game. I love it. You want to beat big teams. If you want to win

the cup, you have to beat the best teams. Thank you.

A familiar starting XI. Always good as a manager to go with the tried

and tested? I think so. The team is very similar to the team which won

it against Hearts a few weeks back at Pittodrie. Niall McGinn is in. We

have trusted players and hopefully we will get the level of performance

we are used to getting. It will take a good performance from us today.

When you come up against a competitive team like Hearts. Safe

to say you would rather have done without Hearts at this stage? When

the draw is made, you see similar ties. There were easier ties, that

goes without saying, but the best way of looking at it for us if it is

a brilliant game to be involved in and to win. Ultimately, McGinn will

see us into the next round. We want a performance to win it. It is a

5:30pm kick-off, Hearts against Aberdeen at Tynecastle. Less than

ten minutes away. Let's pick out a couple of key players. For Hearts,

three changes, no Juanmi, but the player who has grabbed you is Arnaud

Sutchuin Djum, the Belgian midfielder. He made a big impact

This is just superb, isn't it, from a deep area, running into a space,

prepared to take that chance? He gets the ball over the top, gets

into an area he shouldn't get out of... This goal has a health warning

for all Hearts fans. Incredible, defensively. You have to hand it to

Niall McGinn. He beat one defender, he sizes up the situation, he sees

Paterson, he seizes opportunity, picks his spot and put it where he

wants to put it, the back of the net. There are two sides to the

story. A great Aberdeen goal, but a shocker for Hearts, and presumably

they will have watched that back a few times to try to ensure it

doesn't happen tonight. Of course, but this is the thing about these

two guys, they want to go in behind defences. As a defender, that is

where you don't want guys to go. You don't want to have to turn and face

your own goal and run back. It is too seldom in the modern game, where

guys are not wanting to turn around behind. It causes problems. Hearts

will have to try and mitigate Niall McGinn's runs in behind. How does

that potentially impact psychologically and what happens in

this game? I think it helps, the manner that Aberdeen played in the

first half at Tynecastle last time. Saying that, Derek McInnes and the

players will know it will be a tough night. They know it is an

intimidating atmosphere. The page is fabulous to play on. Under the

floodlights, it should lift them. As far as Aberdeen are concerned, the

fact that they had beaten Hearts twice, the second game at Pittodrie

very close, I think that gives them the edge. I feel that they have got

be slightly more creative players. Hearts are very strong, good

defensively, but I think Aberdeen and McGinn and Hayes and McLean, and

we haven't even spoken about the main goal-scorer, Adam Rooney, as

well. When he gets himself into the right position, and Hayes and McGinn

are on form, Aberdeen are a potent force. They are huge players for

Aberdeen. Aberdeen do well, the guys Willie has mentioned are bidding in

a performance. I look at the game tonight and I think, very much like

the Celtic game at Tynecastle, if Hearts are going to get anything out

of this game they have to get on the front foot and put Aberdeen under

pressure. The games that Aberdeen and Hearts have played so far this

season, Hearts have been to posit -- passive and allowed Aberdeen to

dominate. If Hearts are going to get anything out of this, they have to

get on the front foot and put the pressure and Aberdeen. Their real

strength is at the top end of the pitch. The teams are in the tunnel

at Tynecastle. What a tie it promises to be. Hearts against

Aberdeen for a place in the last 16 of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Good evening. How many times do we hear the phrase under the lights

mentioned in the last ten or 15 minutes? There is something special

about Tynecastle when that is the case. Indeed, this evening kick-off

on a Saturday is poised, and it has certainly got a chance of being up

there with a true Scottish Cup classic. We will see. It is

certainly two sides who are by and large been good form, but it is

hardly betide that either of them dreamt of when the draw was made for

the fourth round. As we heard from Robbie Neilson, you have to beat the

good teams if you are going to lift the silverware. For Hearts and

Aberdeen, it begins to decamp from the Scottish Cup at

this stage for either of these two would be a savage blow on their

respective campaigns. Huge travelling support down from the

north east today. If Hearts fans have come out in large numbers as

well. Aberdeen have sold their entire allocation, just over 3500

have made the trip south. The conditions have been great --

haven't been great up in the north-east these last couple of

days. Robbie Neilson, dropping Juanmi to the bench, so Eeyore at

each drops to left-back. Miguel Pallardo also returns to the fold

for the first time the game at Pittodrie a month back. That was his

last start. Osman Sow replaces a suspended player. The captain, Ryan

Jack, is expected to be out until the end of February. Derek McInnes

has not struggled to shuffle his pack when it has been necessary.

Liam and -- Liam Shinnie goes into the side alongside Willo Flood. Adam

Rooney is chasing his 15th goal of the season as he spearheaded the

attack. Dons at full strength. Plenty of options for both teams.

Aberdeen's David Goodwillie scored twice when Aberdeen won it there in

September. The man in charge is 33-year-old John Beaton, who was

here when Hearts lost the League Cup at the hands of Celtic in October.

cup tie to retrieve the situation and it's not like it's a Hearts team

that is picking up clean sheet have to clean sheet. They do struggle to

keep the opposition out. Ozturk, who is at the heart of the defence

tonight, hasn't played much. August in shifts away from Rooney. --

Augustyn. Kenny McLean arrived at the club

almost a year ago. Derek McInnes was saying he doesn't expect to make any

transfers over the next few weeks, during the winter transfer window.

Hearts is certainly worth their lead at the moment. Adam Rooney has not

got into this game at all. So often, he either is in the service from

Hayes and McGinn in the wider areas. When Aberdeen on top, you are going

to get the two white players. But Aberdeen just can't wrestle control

of the game from Hearts. -- the two wide layers.

It is corner number four. You can see the confidence in the Hearts

team. Everybody is looking to get a little bit of space and get

themselves a shot on goal. Fourth corner for Hearts. Sam

Nicholson is over it again. Loads of movement in the box. It goes past.

Both Callum Paterson and Miguel Pallardo are appealing. Big shouts,

but there is so much wrestling in there, grabbing, pushing, shoving.

Difficult for the referee to make a decision. Augustyn got his head and

wit in the end. -- onto it. These long balls are causing

Aberdeen all kinds of problems. It keeps them on the back foot. As a

defender, you want the game in front of you, not to be continually

turning and sprinting back towards your own goalkeeper.

Alim Ozturk is just back in the team. He played against Dundee

United a couple of league games ago, but that was his first outing since

the League Cup victory over Kilmarnock at in the autumn. Three

months out. The man who took the armband in the summer. Just got that

away. The trajectory of the ball... So far, this is as good a Hearts

performance as there has been all season, in their return to

top-flight football. Sam Nicholson didn't know where the ball was. It

could have been another Hearts goal. Mickelson realised where the ball

was. Logan certainly didn't know. Hearts are not giving up on any ball

which is bouncing around that Aberdeen box. They are chasing and

harrying and putting Aberdeen defenders under real pressure.

Four goals this season, Sam Nicholson. He scored one of those

against Celtic recently. Osman Sow got the other. Another example of it

there. Graham said -- Graeme Shinnie was ransacked. Hearts runway again.

Loads of options ahead of them. There is a throng of Hearts players

to choose from. Cleared by Taylor. Miguel Pallardo, Nicholson. Logan

stands his ground. He does well. There is just no respite for

Aberdeen right now. Hearts are swarming all over them. Simply

haven't done this in the two games against Aberdeen this season so far.

The stakes are high tonight. They could make up points in the league.

Once you are out of the cup, you are out. There is Niall McGinn, in the

meantime, with the visitors. Augustyn does well.

It stung his fingertips. Terrific effort from Sam Nicholson. The cuts

in, and to his strong right foot, and he gets it absolutely sweet but

straight at the goalkeeper. Rossi, who scored a consolation against

Aberdeen in September. Neil Alexander will turn 38 in March.

Living the dream, late in his career, a Hearts fan as

McLean has been on the periphery of things so far. That has just gone

out. This has been the story for Aberdeen so far, poor

decision-making, misplaced passes, so we have not seen them as an

attacking force at all so far. It is a big difference tonight to

attacking force at all so far. It is earlier in the season. When Hearts

were attacking that state, they were picked off time and again on the

counterattack. Tonight, they have been flooding back in double quick

time. As soon as they been flooding back in double quick

they go hunting for it. Hearts on the ball today have been excellent.

It has been really impressive. Every time Aberdeen have the ball, there

is no time to look up and get it passed. There is a Hearts player

right in their face. Hard to keep that up for 90 minutes. When you are

head is, it is a lot easier. -- when you are ahead. But for now, Hearts

have been in a different class. you are ahead. But for now, Hearts

Gibbs, Dumbarton, Kilmarnock. Annan Athletic, in the bottom tier,

already through. They beat Hamilton 4-1. They saw one for them. They

haven't been in good form. Aberdeen are desperate to find some of the

form which has taken them to within, at the moment, just within three

points of the league leaders, Celtic.

That autumn slump around October time, in fact it was in the

aftermath of their win here and I think that Taylor's pass sums up

everything for Aberdeen in the opening 32 minutes, woeful. Taylor

has no options there, he's trying to play an almost impossible chip as

the Logan on the touchline. These players on the midfield taking

responsibility and digging Aberdeen back into the contest. Ozturk has

had a great game so far, he has won the ball back

handful, Sow just now. You know he's quick and he has tricks. He has

started every league game for Hearts up until the last one at Kilmarnock.

back post -- post, they do well to block it away but Hearts know every

time they put the ball back in there they have a 6-foot two inches guide

Don't fire it in low. If you know you have big players who are winning

headers, get in high, give them a chance to win the first header, then

if the ball drops into the box it can fall to anyone. Loads of

good history as far as injuries are concerned -- chequered history. He

wins a header, every time you do that there's a real chance you are

going to score. I just wonder if Willo Flood will be able to

continue. He is certainly toiling on the touchline just now. Aberdeen,

just where they didn't want to beat, are down to ten men. There is

movement inside the dugout for the Dons. I think a change is in the

offing for the visitors. They lost Willo Flood the injury in the first

Saturday in the League Cup defeat across the city here, the Hebburn

Ian, and they may have to make another change in an important cup

Robbie Neilson will be ecstatic with his team's performance, but he will

that they certainly had a height advantage before the game, and that

has proven to be the case. At half-time in Edinburgh, Heart of

Midlothian one, Aberdeen zero. It didn't take Hearts long, Robbie

Neilson's team, to make their intentions clear at Tynecastle.

right from the off. That is a perfect summing up, it is the

initiative that Hearts have taken right from the off, even in the

they need to be on the front foot and that Aberdeen under pressure,

and they have done that. What you see is the fact that they are

starving their star players of any possession and service, and that is

what Hearts needs to continue to do if they are going to come away with

a victory. There was an outbreak of handbags just before half-time, seen

Rooney and Rossi. Does it underline Aberdeen's frustration? Finn I think

they should be frustrated. They haven't been allowed to play. --

over. Aberdeen have to try and get themselves into the game. The way

they will get their cells into the game is by playing progressive

football and building up through the midfield. They are not doing that.

Every time they get it at the back, it is a long ball forward, to do?

You get it down and give it to the most important players. A lot of the

best -- a lot of it is down to the fact that Hearts haven't allowed

them to do that. Everybody talks about Tynecastle being so hostile

and difficult and the reason is because of games like this, when

Hearts start on the front foot and put teams under pressure. It isn't a

massive pitch so you can close down this page and make it difficult for

positions to play in and around the midfield. When you do that,

especially against this Aberdeen side, it causes them problems

because that is how they want to play. Hearts have a big presence, a

physicality. I'm not complaining, I think the game is being played

fairly, but if it is a physical battle, there is only one winner in

the first half, and that is Hearts. More thoughts about the first half

in a couple of minutes. It has been a busy day of Scottish Cup fourth

round football. In fact, a busy Friday night as well. Partick

Thistle put their name in Monday's draw with a 2-1 win at Paisley last

night, followed today by these games. Dundee United scraped

through. The big result of the game is lead to Annan Athletic. Only

through. The big result of the game since 2008 have they been a senior

football club. They took care of Hamilton in style today. That Flynn,

Josh Todd and ramming Omar with two goals. What a night they will be

having. The games at Dundee and East Kilbride were off. A cracking cup

tie at East End park. Linlithgow against Forfar Athletic, a replay a

week on Tuesday. Stephen Pearson got two of the Motherwell goals.

Craig Slater got the goal for Kilmarnock early, which proved to be

the only one. Starling -- Stirling Albion holding beholders.

A fantastic result for Annan Athletic, to come away victors

against a top-flight side. It speaks volumes of the performance they have

put in. Stirling Albion had to operate in their shadow today, but a

great result for them, to take care of the holders 0-0 and a replay in

Inverness. A fabulous result for them. They home advantage. They have

taken that and they will find it difficult making the journey to the

Highlands. I think John Hughes will be a relieved manager just to see

that one behind him, hoping he can take full advantage of the home tie.

The highlights are well worth watching tonight. I know you have a

strong say for Ross County's match against Dunfermline. That was a

cracking game at East End park. I was in the studio watching that

earlier. It was a real cup tie, traditional, end to end stuff. Lots

of action and some really good pools. To be honest, right at the

end, Dunfermline hit the crossbar. -- some really good goals. They

could have beaten them. Very much one to watch. It is Hearts one,

Aberdeen zero. It didn't take long for this to explode into life. It

didn't. Hearts played the game very direct. They won the corner kick.

For me, it is too easily won at the back post. Andrew Considine has to

be on his toes more. It is a good goal from a Hearts point of view.

Callum Paterson is definitely alert to get the long flick on it. With

that corner there, the fact that Ozturk makes a run from the edge of

the box, I mean, you are always going to beat a standing jump. He

has the run from the edge of the box and he gets above Considine. For me,

Considine has to be on the half turn. He has to see where the ball

is coming from and to recognise that Ozturk, who you are going to expect

to come in for a header, was loitering on the edge of the box. He

was a bit closed off. That was a feature of the first ten minutes,

almost incessant Hearts pressure and Aberdeen looking uncomfortable

defensively. They were not dealing with the physicality upfront, Mark

Reynolds in particular. A lot of the misunderstanding here at the back

post, Shay Logan looking for Danny Ward to come out, and Danny Ward not

coming out. A bit of uncertainty. They were knocked off their stride,

Aberdeen. They didn't cope with it, even that kind of effort, to try and

clear the chance. Danny Ward doing well, and maybe not so well in

holding onto it. There is no doubt that Aberdeen were all over the

place at that time. They didn't have their shape. In fact, they changed

their shape at the back, going from a four 283 to try and cope. -- going

from a four to three. They were not comfortable with how the game was

panning out so they had to do something. Hearts winning the first

ball, the first and second, and really maintaining that pressure.

Everything is in and around the Aberdeen box. They can't get out.

Then you talk about Tynecastle, it can become such a suffocating venue

where you don't feel you can get out of your own half, and then you end

up with guys at the back just lumping the ball up into areas where

there was nobody there, and it becomes a difficult game when that

is all you can do. What doesn't help from an Aberdeen point of view as

well is that already, minus the captain, Ryan Jack, important

midfield position, they have had to reshuffle. That was a blow to them.

They had no control in the game, no control in the midfield, that is for

sure. The way they have changed the game gives them more players in the

midfield, and I am sure Derek McInnes will be trying to emphasise

how important it is to play through that area, because they haven't

done. If Aberdeen don't do that, there is no point just playing balls

forward. Adam Rooney isn't really the type to want to play it up. You

want to get into the wide areas, the important players. They have to show

a bit of composure. They have not been allowed time at all, so they

have to do it very quickly. It has to be quick because, as Willie says,

if you are not being allowed the time to do that, the only way you

can get through that press is to play quickly. The outfall come up

and over the top, isn't there for them. That means that they have to

get the whole team looking and wanting the ball. You have got two

or three guys that start hiding, it is game over. The Hearts team

selection was a eyebrow raiser before the match. Osman Sow was

always going to before the match. Osman Sow was

are really struggling to cope with his power and place. -- pace. When

he is on his game, he is a handful for the opposition. This is against

Mark Reynolds, who is no slouch. He is quick. Because it causes real

problems, a big influence. Driving forward. Osman Sow is a real handful

for any defender in the league. Of late, Osman Sow is really coming

into his game. He is doing all those things and running in behind. We

spoke before the game with Djum and Niall McGinn. When he runs in

behind, he causes the defence real problems. The challenge for Hearts

is to maintain it in the second half. Absolutely, the physical shape

will be brought under the microscope, because everybody has

put in a lot of work in the first half. They are a strong physical

side. I am sure that that will allow them to keep going for part of the

second half. Whether it will allow them to go for the full 90 minutes

at that pace, closing down Aberdeen, not allowing them any space, only

time will tell. From an Aberdeen point of view, they have to start

playing the ball on the ground, building it up through the midfield.

They haven't done so yet. I have watched them a number of times this

season. They haven't played a fantastic 90 minutes, but they have

played some wonderful 45 minutes. They need that in the second half.

Contrasting emotions on the touchline, as we observed Robbie

Neilson and Derek McInnes. It has been pretty painful so far for the

Aberdeen manager. It has, but one thing he will be taking is that

there is only one goal in it. That is a very, very fine margin. A goal

can be scored in such a is a very, very fine margin. A goal

of time that he will be telling the team that, that they are not out of

it by a long stretch. Hearts have dominated in the first half and

Robbie will be delighted. On the flip side, he will be disappointed

there is only a one goal deficit. It is all to play for and from a Hearts

perspective, they have to make sure they replicate the first half

performance. Derek McInnes will be drilling into his players,

performance. Derek McInnes will be there and get into the game because

it is only one game -- goal. It is a big plus Aberdeen point of view. It

it is only one game -- goal. It is a could be worse. Derek McInnes has to

be thinking his team will be better after the interval. He has to be

drinking and hoping, but they have to do something about it. Hearts can

maintain the tempo, the route they are going, the physicality they have

got in their game, Aberdeen will find it difficult, no matter how

much the manager tries to change the system, no matter how much he said

at half-time. It is down to the players to get it into their mind

and to play in the way that Aberdeen should be playing, getting the ball

down, being progressive through the midfield, out to the wide players

and allowing the creative players to create something. They haven't

created anything in the first half. Is it about attitude and mentality

for Hearts in the second half? I think so. I spoke before the game

about the mentality of going after the game and not being passive. It

talks about whether Hearts will be able to continue that. It is amazing

what a crowd can do. It is a tight pitch. Energy levels, you are not

chasing too far, like Hampden Park. They can maintain it. When you do

that, you get the crowd lifted. It's amazing how much energy you can draw

from them. The mentality has to be to continue what they are doing in

the first half, going after Aberdeen, then the crowd will lift

them and keep them going. They should be able to do it. There is

the moment of the match so far, the only goal at Tynecastle. We only had

to wait two minutes before Robbie Neilson's team hit the front.

Aberdeen under pressure from kick-off. It was Callum Paterson's

fifth goal of the season, heading it in from close range. That is the

only goal so far, despite Hearts' efforts to add to their advantage.

The home team are out at the start of the second half. Osman Sow has

been hot to handle upfront for Hearts and it is Paterson with the

Paul it wasn't a favourite there, but he was bounced to the ground by

Pallardo, who was booked in the first half. He needs to be careful.

Yes, it's an awkward challenge to be making there. You know you have been

yellow carded. Look how far from the goal it is. To go into the back of a

player, you know it's going to be a free kick and you have brought

yourself to the attention of the referee are gay. What he did at

Pittodrie last month, he might have brought himself more to the

attention of his manager, be having brought himself more to the

fouls, if you like. Graeme Shinnie has come in, he's laid, possibly

because it is on the halfway line. -- he is late. For me, that's a

poorer challenge than the two yellow cards we saw in the game. Shinnie

has played half his games for Aberdeen in midfield. He is

versatile. It's Buaben. Shinnie cleared, he played right back for

college is Linda final against Falkirk in May last year. -- lifting

Graeme Shinnie right now. It's gone Aberdeen's way. We are right back at

the stand in Tynecastle, surrounded by Hearts supporters, who all

disagree with John Beaton and his linesman. Did he get it right? Hard

to tell. The fact Callum Paterson has gone backwards tends to suggest

he thought he had touched it out, but you have to argue your case

anyway. This is promising for the hosts, who has Sow, a heavy touch

from Sow. Danny Ward goes long. McGinn is going to get there. He

goes in early for that, Rooney misses it completely and Ozturk can

clear. That came from one long Danny Ward has come all the way out to

McGinn. A good spot from the goalkeeper, a great ball forward.

fancy Ozturk, who scored three free kicks aplenty for Hearts last

piece of play from Aberdeen, getting the ball into the box there, but the

background. A frantic cup tie here at Tynecastle. It's a cup tie that

Hearts lead and at the moment we are heading into Monday's draw for the

last 16 -- they are heading into the draw. It's Niall McGinn. Blocked by

the first man. Jonny Hayes gets a second chance and that's poorer as

well. Well, can Aberdeen not clicking, you can turn to look at

Hayes and McGinn because when they click its normally then that have

them clicking. Yes, they are the catalysts, they are the guys that

get on the ball and take the opposition back, take on full-backs,

it hasn't happened. He is a ball into the box game from Adam Rooney,

the arm around the shoulders not clobbered but in the first task

Callum Paterson was dragged the same way after a corner soap six of one,

half a dozen of the other. Paterson rather sliced that ball,

Taylor to clear. Ozturk took a risk, Neil Alexander

had little doubt in his mind and watches his clearance. -- he botched

his clearance. Little moments like that can give impetus to the

opposition. Yes, composure is a wonderful thing but in some areas

your first thought has to be taking your chances.

Peter Pawlett wins the free kick. Both clubs would have been cursing

the draw they were handed at this stage, but really, not often in the

Scottish Cup you get an easy type and the holders Cally Thistle were

held by Stirling Albion today, 0-0. There will be

Aberdeen supporters in good voice. Here is McGinn, against Nicholson.

McGinn gets it this time, back it comes, just a bit too far for

Taylor. That's McLean, who is capable from there. They had to take

the shot one, didn't they, but he was desperate to see that ball come

to his opposite foot. On his left to chance there was a chance of winning

the goalkeeper. Good play from McGinn, but it comes back and he

never looked confident he would be hitting the target, McLean.

As things stand, Aberdeen you would think would be delighted if they got

a replay out of this. If there was to be a replay. It is in a few days'

time, Wednesday night, at Pittodrie. Still Hearts in the box seat. They

haven't been haps quite as dominant in the opening minutes of the second

half -- perhaps quite as dominant. Still Neil Alexander hasn't really

had a save to make. It will concern Derek McInnes. Paul at this time is

upended by Rossi. -- Peter Pawlett. I think Aberdeen are stopping Hearts

playing better, but now they need to start playing themselves. Peter

Pawlett gets his toe in there, goes to ground and gets a free kick in a

good area. You just never know, do you? Aberdeen battered Dundee in the

Scottish Cup last season and went out. A different story this time

around. They have a free kick here will stop McGinn takes it, not bad.

back to Hearts. Hearts 1, Aberdeen 0, as it has been since minute

three. When Aberdeen won that cup in

they defeated Hearts en route. Aberdeen in 2006, with their own

Aberdeen. Reasons to be optimistic for

Aberdeen supporters in the last 16 minutes? Certainly better. Hearts

are not as dominating as they were in the first half. But you still

need and opportunity. You look at Neil

the tie any further? We will get that answer in a second. We will

the end? We played our best football in the first half. We were a bit

slack in the second, but we deserved the result. We had worked on the

corner during the week and there were not many going at me. It looked

like a tough shift out there tonight. It was hard. They are a

tough squad. We know that the team spirit at this club is huge. How far

can that take you in the competition? It is a massive game in

the league as well. We have got a good squad and a good atmosphere in

Callum Paterson's fifth goal of the season takes Hearts into the last

16. Always a young man who is involved in games, and their only

goal of this game couldn't have been much earlier. It couldn't, and he

took it well, reacting to the ball coming to him. He got a good touch,

good power, turning it into the back of the net. Throughout, he was

superb. Jonny Hayes was well muscled by him, that is for sure. This is

the goal. He react to it. It is instinctive. But good power, and he

finds his spot extremely well into the top corner. That goal made all

the difference. It is so important, starting a game positively and

positively. On occasions like this, it settled it. Of course. The game

positively. On occasions like this, against Celtic at Tynecastle was

very much the same ilk. They had to start weekly and on the front foot.

They have picked up a draw against Celtic and they have got a win

against Aberdeen whereas earlier in the season, performances against

Aberdeen and Celtic were far too passive. The start was vital,

because it really knocked Aberdeen out of their stride. When they came

into the game in the second half, it was a wee bit more, without being a

great deal of finesse, Aberdeen got into the game physically a bit, and

a lot was down to the fact that they were not allowed to get any passing

play in the first half. Did Aberdeen deserved more than they got? I don't

think so. Even in the second half, Aberdeen created a couple of

chances, Andrew Considine possibly be best, Niall McGinn with one at

the back post. It was a narrow angle. But you are probably talking

about two or 3/2 chances. In the first half, nothing at all. Hearts,

total domination. I was struggling at half-time to see how Hearts could

keep the tempo up. Aberdeen didn't play enough football for me, they

didn't get the chance, because Hearts were so physical in terms of

closing them down. And I thought, you know, the winners tonight were

Hearts, without any doubt. They deserved it. Robbie Neilson will not

be screaming from the rooftops, it's not his style, but Hearts will

privately believe that they can win the second -- the Scottish Cup. You

have to keep reminding yourself that this is a newly promoted team. Of

course, but they are not a typical championship side that have just

been promoted. They are a Premiership side in infrastructure,

the squad that is there. To find them at the top of the table is not

a big surprise. You are totally right, there is no reason why they

shouldn't be able to challenge for Aberdeen for the second place in the

league, and no reason why they shouldn't go further in the Scottish

Cup, as long as they don't get another typical team -- difficult
