And welcome to Sportscene... unbelievable. A spectacular opening

goal in the Derby. That was an absolute beauty. Is this a bit of

history? It is. And it's a goal. This is history.

What is it? It defines us. It makes us who we are. Names in a hat. The

look of the draw. Leading to a name we all know. We all dream of holding

not. Ross County are living the dream. The chance to make a name for

yourself. The last two years have seen two new names, two new winners.

That will win the cup for St Johnstone. This is history right

here, right now. All of the names which have gone down in history.

It's time for history to be written once more. Its name? The Scottish

Cup. Good evening and welcome. Tonight we

put a cap on what has been another fantastic day in this historic

competition. The 131st year of the Scottish Cup. 12 games made it

through the wind, rain and occasional snow.

The fourth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup is when the big guns

meet the minnows, would we get a shock this year? Annan Athletic at

home to Hamilton. It looked as though it might have the right

ingredients. Every manager wants to avoid their

team being the shock exit, Hamilton boss Martin Canning would have been

no different. Annan had other ideas and opened the scoring after six

minutes. Matt Flynn hitting the target. And Annan took confidence

from the early goal, sensing it could be their day, they wanted to

take advantage of being on home turn that on this occasion it wasn't to

be. He failed to connect and the chance went begging. Hamilton were

rattled and into the second half they were left stunned, two minutes

after the break, the League 2 side doubled their lead. This time it was

joshed hard hitting the target. -- Josh Todd. The Hamilton players were

left looking for answers. They almost got a reply. Despite staying

on his feet he could not find the target. Hamilton finally showed some

Premier League credentials after 64 minutes, Greg Doherty finding the

back of the net. But within 60 seconds the part-timers replied, the

initial shot from Todd was blocked and Omar was there to follow it up.

It was advantage Annan again. And they wanted to make it count, this

effort was only kept out from Todd either post. -- by the post. Things

went from bad to worse as Omar netted a second and Annan's fourth

of the day. Want to forget for Hamilton and one that will stay long

in the memories of the Annan fans. A couple of people are saying it's the

best result in the history of the club and it's a great feeling, just

to be in the next round. The players stuck to their guns come excellent

discipline and organisation. A good bit of quality there as well and

some of the players have demonstrated they can perform at a

higher level. It's a great result for everybody connected to the club.

Huge congratulations for Annan Athletic. The biggest result in

their 74 year history. Devastating for the axes? It's a poor result.

Losing five of their last six games. But the credit has to go to Annan.

We struggled there in the League Cup. It is not the best pitcher in

the world but there can been excuses. Jim Chapman had been

watching them often and he thought... That many times at the

ground. He was organised wealth of the game. They followed his

instructions well. The Scottish Cup always gives us new heroes and Omar

is the man of the moment. He is going really well. This is the most

important goal of the game, getting back into it, 2-1, could do either

way. He does not panic and he makes sure it is on target. Fantastic from

there and then of course he plays with massive competence. A lovely

little touch. I am sure they train on it all the time and they are used

to it. I'm sure Hamilton aren't used to a cigarette excerpt this...

to claw their way back to the top of the Scottish game against Ross

County side already there. With this act as a level? As recently as four

seasons ago today's hosts would have been big favourite in a meeting

between the sides. How times have changed. With Dunfermline trying to

get out of League 1 and Ross County challenging in the Premiership. The

Scottish Cup is a great leveller and this could be an intriguing contest.

Dunfermline nine points clear at the top of League 1 and looking good for

automatic promotion to the Championship. In Alan Johnson Bears

first season in charge. Ross County's cause has been hampered by

injuries to the top scorers. Marcus Fraser comes in at right back for

might be a popular outlet. He gets in behind the defence and goes for

releasing Schalk. It was a Japan awful finish, the keeper was beaten

at the near post and cannot get down in time. Schalk as his Ross County

B. This is not how he envisaged his side starting. He gets a second

chance and he does well to get it to Michael Paignton. This is a good

chance. Somehow it trickles behind. That was almost the Dunfermline

equaliser. What a start to the match. Michael Moffat tries to get

on the end of this and the keeper does tremendously well to knock it

away from Moffat. The home fans have been used to seeing winning football

this season. They would have been shocked as anyone to see their

it have been stopped? It should have. Definitely. We see it from

that angle, just the way he goes over, you think, there has to be

something. Not sure it is a penalty. Very rash! Absolutely close lines --

clotheslined. Ironically it is Brian Graham who did it, going on to

scored the naughty. But Brad Mackay made up for it. Scott Fawkes will

not want to see this one again. Not the best goalkeeping, but well done

to Mackay for making up for the mistake. Dunfermline top the lead by

way back for them eventually? Alan has the team playing really well.

They are attacking. I have always been a big fan of Cardle as well.

be OK. They scored twice but they could have scored more. If there is

a chance of keeping the group together they have every chance of

going through the leagues. Well -- will they struggle in the

Championship next season? Before today they had won six games

straight and had not lost since the 10th of October. They are the form

the game was over. This is a junior team as well. It was a typical

fourth round Scottish Cup tie. It's brilliant to see all of the fans in

the background not understanding. Interesting to hear them talking

about it. Feeling that they were the better team by a good distance but

with ten men they did not do bad. We talk about betting, 3-1 down, ten

men, the junior side. What a good goal as well. Look at the

celebration on the Hill! They will have to name the hill after. It's

great. We have seen a couple of really exciting and interesting cup

ties. That is the classic third or fourth round Scottish Cup tie.

Absolutely. Inverness Caley Thistle entered the Scottish Cup as holders

after their historic triumph last season. They began their defence

away at Stirling Albion. Lifting the Scottish Cup at a sun soaked Hampden

Park will live long in the memory for Inverness Caley Thistle. But

summer is gone and winter has come and for the first time in their

history there is a title to defend. The idea was fantastic, the

supporters and all of the families. Bringing their kids for the first

time to the National Stadium. It is just something else. It was great.

really good goal, the sort that we would like to score in a cup final

because as it is the sort of football we play. -- because it is.

We like to make it difficult for ourselves. The nerves really set in

at that point. We thought if it goes to extra time it will make it a bit

against the cup holders, three divisions above. We have come

through with flying colours and we have earned the right for another

game. It is soon forgotten about. I'm honest enough to tell you. They

got lucky today. We are still in there. Next to the tie of the round,

Hearts against Aberdeen at Tynecastle. A real cup tie

atmospheric spectator as the teams ranked second and third in the

Premiership lock horns in the capital.

expectations, you happily bring big performances. Unfortunately we did

not manage to do that today, at the cup, we deserve criticism. Hearts

through to the next round, Aberdeen out of the Scottish Cup. What was

the Hearts approach to this match? They worked hard, they pressed high.

They worked as a group, doing it from the first seconds of the game.

Hugely impressive. Easy to say to do this, but you need to do it

altogether. You have to close down the men at the back, so they played

long and you get possession back. It happened time and again. If you can

get it to the Aberdeen goalkeeper by pressing, you will probably win the

kick. They did it all afternoon, the two centre-backs were strong. The

job is not done, then you need to press higher up the park. Aberdeen

like to play football. They want to play through the middle. If you are

going to get pressed high, you will get put under pressure. Exactly the

right position, putting the pressure on. He is under pressure, so is he.

When you are under pressure you make mistakes, give the ball away. What

you want to do, win the ball high up the park. When you do that, they

have the chance to create opportunities, that is what they did

for the corner kick. How bad the goal was it for Aberdeen to deceive?

Good play by Hearts? Always the same, little bit of both. They

played long and higher, they know exactly what they are trying to do.

He is really good in the air, they gave him too much time. If he can

run six yards, getting the run and you, he will probably beat you. If

you are slightly more static. He is so good in the air, you will

probably lose to them even if you are close. That is a mistake, not to

stay close to him. He has been run on him, winning the easy header.

only themselves to blame. I think the first half was good, and in the

second half we took control. In the end I felt we controlled it. We are

obviously delighted to be through to the next round. Disappointed to

lose. One was a wonder strike and the other was on the counterattack.

On the second half performance the guys have done everything they can.

Hibs are a good side and they probably deserved to win.

The referee made a big call after 17 minutes. Allowing play to continue

when Ian Russell went to ground. Getting clean through on goal to go

David Hopkin did not have much time to prepare his side for the visit of

Morton. The visitors almost took advantage after 34 minutes. The

want to try and do. In terms of Celtic's match, the way to

Stranraer. Ten years since that infamous cup defeat to Clyde. It

seems only a few years ago. How much trepidation that they have? If they

turn up should be given. But it is with the case in these games. One of

the greatest upsets in Scottish football history. Maybe not quite to

the old Rangers against Berwick Rangers one back in 67. One of the

very biggest ones. One of my former clubs, Clyde. I was doing the code
