COMMENTATOR: Right out of the top drawer! An absolute beauty! Oh yes!

:00:16.:00:35.

It's unbelievable, unbelievable! What a finish! It is not a dream, it

:00:36.:00:51.

is reality. No two teams are bigger than Aberdeen and Celtic. ROCK

:00:52.:01:02.

MUSIC. Aberdeen are true to their first Scottish Cup final in 17

:01:03.:01:08.

years! Celtic take another step towards the treble. The 71st

:01:09.:01:19.

Scottish League Cup final. It is Celtic's League Cup. It was

:01:20.:01:46.

Wallace who scored. Celtic are invincible!

:01:47.:02:02.

Those fans banging the drum for Celtic today, they want their team

:02:03.:02:10.

to keep the tag of invincible is. Unbeaten in Scottish football so far

:02:11.:02:14.

this season. Brendan Rodgers' team is one day away from celebrating a

:02:15.:02:20.

domestic treble. Aberdeen have been runners-up in the Premiership and

:02:21.:02:26.

losing finalists in the lean -- League Cup. Can they win the

:02:27.:02:30.

Scottish Cup for the first time since 1990? It's the 132nd Scottish

:02:31.:02:35.

Cup final, it is Celtic against Aberdeen and it's live on the BBC.

:02:36.:02:42.

We'll Brendan Rodgers' first year as Celtic manager end with a glorious

:02:43.:02:46.

treble, or can Aberdeen emerge from the shadow of the champions when it

:02:47.:02:50.

matters most? I'm hoping these three can help answer those questions.

:02:51.:02:56.

Michael Stewart, Willie Miller and the man who had his arms wrapped

:02:57.:03:02.

around betrays the year ago, former Hibs manager Alan Stubbs. Alan a

:03:03.:03:05.

triple winner as well with Celtic, winning the Scottish Cup in 2001.

:03:06.:03:17.

And of course, at this very time last season, he was the manager of

:03:18.:03:21.

Hibs, taking delivery of that piece of silverware and ending 114 years

:03:22.:03:31.

of pain. How it did that feel, and also does it feel like a year has

:03:32.:03:37.

passed since? It was amazing on the day. I think to have been part of,

:03:38.:03:43.

you know, it was a really good game. But to have come out the other end

:03:44.:03:47.

as winners, it was fantastic for the players. I can't believe it's been a

:03:48.:03:53.

year. It really has gone nowhere. You've got a great relationship with

:03:54.:03:59.

this trophy, so have Willie. When we look at these, and these are

:04:00.:04:02.

separate pictures by the way. They all look much the same! Four times

:04:03.:04:10.

you help this aloft in the 80s. It's a magnificent trophy, I must say.

:04:11.:04:15.

The occasion today is fabulous. It's good to see my old team back here in

:04:16.:04:20.

the big stage, at the end of the season with an opportunity to do

:04:21.:04:24.

what I did all those years ago. It wasn't a year ago that these photos

:04:25.:04:32.

were taken by the way! LAUGHTER It's is likely further back! Michael, is

:04:33.:04:37.

it going to be Celtic's trouble? Is it their day in this incredible

:04:38.:04:41.

season or will Aberdeen and the trophy for the first time in 27

:04:42.:04:45.

years? It's quite clear Celtic are the favourites, it's understandable

:04:46.:04:49.

why. They've gone the season undefeated domestically. They are up

:04:50.:04:53.

against a team who have run as close as anybody else. For Aberdeen to win

:04:54.:04:56.

they've got to believe they can do it. I think in the management team,

:04:57.:05:04.

they will be instilling belief in the team. If they perform to their

:05:05.:05:07.

best and if you things fall their way there is no reason they can't

:05:08.:05:12.

get their hands on the trophy. When the PA strikes up it may try to

:05:13.:05:16.

drown us out but we will lift our voices. 100 minutes until cup final

:05:17.:05:20.

kick-off. You know it's going to fly by when you find out what we've got

:05:21.:05:26.

in store for you. We've even got a bit of culture for you! The Scottish

:05:27.:05:42.

Cup in first and read first. The fan's wild screams. Its 27 years

:05:43.:05:47.

since Aberdeen last won the trophy. We had a very good team at that

:05:48.:05:51.

time, probably the best in the country. Remembering that football

:05:52.:05:58.

fairy tale from 1967. Here was the conquering of Europe by a bunch of

:05:59.:06:05.

players drawn from a small nation. The Dons have a team within a team.

:06:06.:06:18.

They say there's no cliques in the changing room, there's the Irish

:06:19.:06:26.

clique. COMMENTATOR: Outstanding piece of finishing! Taking the

:06:27.:06:31.

Michael would be Celtic skipper. That was me celebrating. I love

:06:32.:06:43.

watching my players. I don't get nervous or apprehensive when I watch

:06:44.:06:46.

my team, I really look forward to it. Brendan bids to complete the

:06:47.:06:51.

season of his dreams. This experience as a special experience

:06:52.:06:55.

for me. I'm not sure I'll ever get this again, managing the club that

:06:56.:07:03.

I've supported since I was a child. Looking a lot further ahead, our

:07:04.:07:08.

commentators for the big match today Art Liam McLeod and Steven Thompson.

:07:09.:07:13.

Let's get an early shout from those two. Good afternoon. The Aberdeen

:07:14.:07:19.

players and the manager just walked out of the tunnel in front of us. I

:07:20.:07:24.

don't know if you can see it, the pitch is looking magnificent. You

:07:25.:07:28.

can maybe hear the Aberdeen supporters, those who are here nice

:07:29.:07:33.

and early, welcoming their heroes. Stephen, I was sitting down having

:07:34.:07:37.

my breakfast reading the newspapers, as I do in the morning. Not many

:07:38.:07:42.

people are giving Aberdeen much of a chance against what has been a ramp

:07:43.:07:46.

at Celtic this season. I would probably agree with that. I think

:07:47.:07:51.

Aberdeen have the quality in forward areas to hurt Celtic. But can they

:07:52.:07:55.

stop Celtic from scoring at the other end? I don't believe they can.

:07:56.:08:00.

They've got a limit Celtic to just trying to concede one goal. They've

:08:01.:08:04.

got to get the balance right. If the balance is wrong between over

:08:05.:08:06.

committing in attack they'll be exploited by the Celtic team. Will

:08:07.:08:12.

be neither team lines just after 2pm, starting with Celtic. Perhaps

:08:13.:08:16.

the biggest decision for Brendan Rogers is in the midfield. If it

:08:17.:08:26.

Rogic or McGregor? Also will Dembele be fit enough to start. Dembele

:08:27.:08:30.

hasn't played for a couple of weeks and in that time I think Griffith

:08:31.:08:35.

has been exceptional. McGregor has been a big favourite of Brendan

:08:36.:08:39.

Rogers. He's played fantastically well so I would expect McGregor to

:08:40.:08:44.

start as well. Big decisions for Derek McInnes for Aberdeen. Most

:08:45.:08:48.

notably Ryan Jack who's off at the end of the season. It's been

:08:49.:08:53.

reported in several places he's going to Rangers. Anthony O'Connor

:08:54.:08:56.

has performed pretty well in the midfield, that's probably the

:08:57.:08:59.

biggest decision the manager has to make, albeit Jayden Stockley played

:09:00.:09:04.

very well against Celtic a few weeks ago in the league match. Yes he did.

:09:05.:09:09.

He gives that physical threat up front. One thing about Ryan Jack, he

:09:10.:09:13.

brings composure to the midfield. He can control the game. He always

:09:14.:09:18.

takes the ball in difficult areas and circumstances. I would expect

:09:19.:09:22.

him to come back into this side today. Stockley upfront, I'm not

:09:23.:09:26.

sure, Rooney is the callous man. Stockley gives you the physical

:09:27.:09:30.

presence and he played well in the last game but I would be surprised

:09:31.:09:34.

to see him start. Team needs just after TPN. Whatever happens, history

:09:35.:09:40.

beckons for one of these illustrious football clubs as they top two in

:09:41.:09:46.

Scottish football go head-to-head. Will it be a trouble for Celtic or

:09:47.:09:51.

will Aberdeen in their 27 long wait to lift the Scottish Cup? STUDIO:

:09:52.:09:57.

It's the time of year when we speculate about what these two

:09:58.:10:01.

line-ups might be. Derek McInnes and Brendan Rodgers there. They will

:10:02.:10:08.

have a surprise in store files about the line-up. We know already that

:10:09.:10:14.

Graeme Shinnie will Aberdeen today, so no armband for Ryan Jack. Do you

:10:15.:10:20.

still think a key role in this game? For Ryan Jack, absolutely. I think

:10:21.:10:24.

when he is in the team, Aberdeen have a better chance of controlling

:10:25.:10:29.

that area. When he's not they don't have the same control. The change of

:10:30.:10:33.

captaincy, I think probably expected. Ryan has made up his mind

:10:34.:10:39.

he is leaving. Graeme Shinnie is vice captain anyway so he's a

:10:40.:10:42.

natural progression for him to take over the role. He's been outstanding

:10:43.:10:48.

this season. But why make that decision now? Why not wait until the

:10:49.:10:53.

season is out? He's made an issue of it now. Had he not just kept Ryan

:10:54.:10:56.

Jack has the captain, there wouldn't have been this discussion, and the

:10:57.:11:03.

whole circus surrounding it. I think the issue was made when Ryan made it

:11:04.:11:08.

clear he wasn't staying at the club. That wasn't common knowledge, up

:11:09.:11:12.

until he leaked it. There have been various rumours about where he's

:11:13.:11:15.

going to. There's been a lot of unrest for the fans. I think Derek

:11:16.:11:23.

has taken the right decision here. What about playing him? From my

:11:24.:11:28.

point of view, if I'm Ryan Jack and I'm leaving, I would expect

:11:29.:11:31.

something to happen. In fact I would have said to the manager, if you

:11:32.:11:36.

want me to stand back to captain, I'm moving on next season, then do

:11:37.:11:41.

it. That discussion might have happened. In terms of Celtic the

:11:42.:11:45.

expectation is Moussa Dembele will be in the squad but he will be on

:11:46.:11:51.

the bench. I think it would have been a really big called to start

:11:52.:11:57.

him in the game, especially with him being out with the type of injury he

:11:58.:12:00.

had. It's a difficult one to come back to click from. You're never

:12:01.:12:04.

quite sure with a hamstring, even though he's probably done enough. To

:12:05.:12:11.

actually start him, if it is what we think it's going to be with Leigh

:12:12.:12:16.

Griffiths starting, I think it's the right way to go. The minute we have

:12:17.:12:20.

team news, you will have the team news as well. This is the Scottish

:12:21.:12:24.

Cup final on the BBC. There's something poetic about our coverage.

:12:25.:12:31.

Poet Liam MacCormack will add a badly needed touch of class as he

:12:32.:12:40.

talks us through the Road to. -- the road to Hampton.. He stood in the

:12:41.:12:53.

shadow of the scoring roar. That one screamed about the emerald green.

:12:54.:13:01.

His face lined like time and worry. He never could keep his eye on the

:13:02.:13:06.

ball. As his son tears down the street, his feet kick up the dust of

:13:07.:13:09.

industry. His easy smile through gritted teeth. The ball comes to his

:13:10.:13:22.

feet. And fits. Like the Pearl and the world's waster. -- the world's

:13:23.:13:36.

oyster. Whether you bore the brunt in this land, you're probably

:13:37.:13:48.

getting these texts, same as me. Great result, chief! 6-0. At the

:13:49.:13:58.

final whistle, the enemy's dismissal. When I wake up, I'll

:13:59.:14:08.

know. They are going to be the men who put three past them. In this

:14:09.:14:14.

country and this cup we dream of these teams appearing on wide

:14:15.:14:22.

screens. Playing and making history. STUDIO: Liam will be back with us

:14:23.:14:30.

shortly to talk us through the poems. An almost permanent fixture

:14:31.:14:37.

in the 80s so it's incredible to think it is almost 27 years since

:14:38.:14:41.

this special piece of silverware had its home in the north-east. It was

:14:42.:14:45.

the first time the competition had ever been won on penalties. We go

:14:46.:14:47.

back to the shoot out drama of 1990. We had a very good team that the

:14:48.:14:57.

time. Probably the best in the country.

:14:58.:15:01.

I was unaware at the beginning of the game how it was going to unfold.

:15:02.:15:07.

But excited to play in the first Scottish Cup Final. My best moment

:15:08.:15:13.

in football, having a big say in the outcome that, it was a great

:15:14.:15:21.

feeling. On the Scottish Cup Final is on the

:15:22.:15:26.

way. That is a great first time ball.

:15:27.:15:32.

Into space for Nicholas. Aberdeen in the box. One of them is Hillhouse.

:15:33.:15:39.

In a game of limited chances Aberdeen and Celtic could not be

:15:40.:15:43.

separated. No scoring here at Hampden and that is the end of the

:15:44.:15:49.

match. The cup will be settled on penalty-kicks. It was an exciting

:15:50.:15:56.

game. We had done our job, not losing goals as a defender. Then the

:15:57.:16:00.

penalty shoot-out was going to take it to another level. Strange because

:16:01.:16:05.

you didn't think before the game it would end up going to penalty, it

:16:06.:16:09.

was going to the next step. I didn't think it was part of the game. I

:16:10.:16:14.

didn't agree to that. I would have rather won the game through the

:16:15.:16:19.

playing of it. I must say, most of the penalty were taken quite well.

:16:20.:16:28.

Brilliantly taken by Bett. Into the corner.

:16:29.:16:40.

Celtic bound Charlie Nicholas had to score to make it sudden death. .

:16:41.:16:57.

This would have given Celtic qualification to up yoo, he was

:16:58.:17:01.

going to be playinger for them. When it came to his turn, in the last of

:17:02.:17:05.

the normal five penalties he put it in the top corner so it was

:17:06.:17:08.

brilliant or he meant to miss it, I don't know.

:17:09.:17:15.

Calmly and confidently, he ties up the penalty shoot-outs. Half way

:17:16.:17:19.

through the shoot out I was starting to feel indifferent about it. I

:17:20.:17:23.

wasn't feeling that for our own side, I was feeling that on the

:17:24.:17:27.

Celtic lads going up as well. I remember that Graham Watson took the

:17:28.:17:32.

penalty, that in half way line, the Celtic players were winding the

:17:33.:17:39.

Celtic end up. He was threatened by a serious injury a year ago, the

:17:40.:17:42.

Celtic fans trying to build up the tension for the youngster.

:17:43.:17:50.

You have to hand it to the young man, a little smile appears on hiss

:17:51.:17:56.

face. I did the same, what they did, with our crowd. And luckily, I think

:17:57.:18:01.

Aberdeen had 25,000 supporters over, but they were in the goal behind

:18:02.:18:07.

myself. And especially with the roof, the noise was immense.

:18:08.:18:15.

And it is a magnificent save. It might win the cup for Aberdeen. That

:18:16.:18:25.

is a magnificent save from the Dutch goalkeeper.

:18:26.:18:31.

In the last man before the goalkeeper, in the position, if I

:18:32.:18:37.

could score we would win it. The ones before big Alec McLeish, they

:18:38.:18:40.

have to score to keep us in the game.

:18:41.:18:45.

That is beautifully taken by McLeish. As I go forward to score to

:18:46.:18:50.

win it, and what a feeling when the ball hit the back of the net.

:18:51.:19:02.

Aberdeen have won! Won! I knew it was going to go in, Pat bonner had

:19:03.:19:09.

dived the wrong way. It gives me goose bumps thinking about it now

:19:10.:19:15.

now, 27 years later. In Holland, my mum was watching the game. Before

:19:16.:19:19.

the final penalties it went to a different programme and they

:19:20.:19:23.

couldn't tell the score. So in the hotel, I had to phone her to tell

:19:24.:19:28.

her what the score was, that he won it in the end.

:19:29.:19:32.

Going back up to Aberdeen the next day on an open deck bus, down Union

:19:33.:19:40.

Street going into Town House and celebrating in front of 25, 30,000

:19:41.:19:44.

Aberdeen fans. Lining the street. That is the sort of thing you

:19:45.:19:48.

dreamed as a boy doing, to be doing it for real is incredible. We had

:19:49.:19:52.

the League Cup with us and the Scottish Cup. As I came off the bus,

:19:53.:19:57.

I had enjoyed it so much, and I thought it was great managing

:19:58.:20:02.

Aberdeen, till an old supporter slapped 30,000 Aberdeen fans. Lining

:20:03.:20:05.

the street. That is the sort of thing you dreamed as a boy doing, to

:20:06.:20:08.

be doing it for real is incredible. We had the League Cup with us and

:20:09.:20:11.

the Scottish Cup. As I came off the bus, I had enjoyed it so much, and I

:20:12.:20:14.

thought it was great managing Aberdeen, till an old supporter

:20:15.:20:16.

slapped me on the back, "Well done Alex, you brought back the Fergie

:20:17.:20:18.

day, now for the treble". From the Scottish Cup of 1990 to the

:20:19.:20:21.

2017 version, and that is Brendan Rodgers going to have the perfect

:20:22.:20:24.

ending to what has been an already remarkable season in his first

:20:25.:20:28.

season as Celtic manager, there is the skipper Scott Browne, Lee

:20:29.:20:32.

Griffiths who we understand will start, with Moussa Dembele on the

:20:33.:20:36.

bench, all the team news on the way and maybe an intriguing Aberdeen

:20:37.:20:39.

team selection to come as well. More of that, but let us go back 27 years

:20:40.:20:46.

and you were heading to the knackers yard Willie, at that stage, you

:20:47.:20:51.

career was almost over. Injury stopped you living that particular

:20:52.:20:55.

trophy. I played half the season and got injured for Scotland, playing

:20:56.:21:00.

against Norway, here at Hampden, and almost made it back, but just didn't

:21:01.:21:03.

quite get there, but I was part of the squad. I went down with Alex and

:21:04.:21:10.

the rest of the team and watched the game. Experienced ex kitement of

:21:11.:21:16.

lifting the trophy. You weren't going behind the crowd working up

:21:17.:21:24.

the frenzy? No, I sat up there, I watched it going to penalties and I

:21:25.:21:29.

thought I'm glad I'm not taking one. There was one goalkeeper making an

:21:30.:21:35.

outstanding save. Another one was doing all he could to divert out of

:21:36.:21:43.

the way, Packie Bonner. E plain yourself. My word. I wish Wally was

:21:44.:21:49.

taking one, with that tash and the hair, I had him psyched out many

:21:50.:21:53.

time, so unfortunately, listen, when you are watching it back and you

:21:54.:21:59.

look at the penalties you wish you had to go the right way. Listen for

:22:00.:22:04.

Aberdeen it was a great occasion, but for a Celtic team to lose a

:22:05.:22:08.

final and the first shoot out, can I say also was a big disappointment. I

:22:09.:22:14.

feel sorry for Anton, the goalkeeper doesn't have to really, he has never

:22:15.:22:18.

been the one expected to save penalty, if you do you become a

:22:19.:22:21.

hero. What a good save that was. In the corner. That is nice of you to

:22:22.:22:26.

give credit. I like to see them getting credit as you know, but we

:22:27.:22:31.

missed the first penalty. And that put us under severe pressure on the

:22:32.:22:35.

day, it was never nice, the last couple of days I have been reflected

:22:36.:22:41.

on it, looking back, I forgot about it probably the week after it, once

:22:42.:22:45.

we went on holiday, when you win things like that it stays in your

:22:46.:22:50.

memory. It is a great lesson to Bryan and Alec, and probably living

:22:51.:22:57.

it as if it was yesterday. If we mad a camera on you at the time you had

:22:58.:23:01.

gritted teeth. That summer was great for me in other ways. Did you save a

:23:02.:23:05.

penalty in I learned from that final. That was the great thing, you

:23:06.:23:08.

have to reflect on these things and that is what I did. Enjoy your

:23:09.:23:17.

afternoon. And just on that theme of the decade of dominance, let us look

:23:18.:23:22.

at one of those Cup Final win, Scottish Cup Final wins for

:23:23.:23:29.

Aberdeen, this was 19th May 1984. Aberdeen 2 Celtic 1. Eric Black

:23:30.:23:34.

getting the first one. You will want to analyse the defending for the

:23:35.:23:39.

equaliser. I think we had a habit. Who is that full-back? It was his

:23:40.:23:43.

fault. We had a habit of going to extra time and coming out on top.

:23:44.:23:48.

When you get here, to the big game, you know, at the end of the season,

:23:49.:23:52.

it is one you want to remember, and you know, I remember this goal.

:23:53.:23:57.

Looking at the back post. Was that off his shin? If you ask Mark it

:23:58.:24:03.

wasn't. It was a sweet strike. But the most important thing it ended up

:24:04.:24:08.

in the back of the net. These are wonderful memories for Aberdeen. But

:24:09.:24:12.

not knowing what is going to unfold today. The two best teams are here

:24:13.:24:18.

today. It is great that they will be here, I hope Aberdeen really take

:24:19.:24:22.

the game to Celtic, and try and put them under pressure, because it is

:24:23.:24:27.

amazing what happens in these occasion, it will be about whoever

:24:28.:24:31.

settles early on, and if Aberdeen can get an early goal it will be

:24:32.:24:34.

interesting to see how Celtic respond. It is about squeezing the

:24:35.:24:39.

negative thoughts for Aberdeen and there are plenty of them against

:24:40.:24:42.

Celtic. Squeezing those out and putting the action on the positive.

:24:43.:24:46.

Easier said than done. It is, but something they have to do. I was

:24:47.:24:52.

saying before that the management team have to try and instil that

:24:53.:24:55.

belief in the team they can do it. And you know, it is going to be a

:24:56.:25:00.

difficult job. No question of that. Talking about the historical games

:25:01.:25:04.

that have been here and whether they have an influence, I don't think the

:25:05.:25:07.

finals will have an influence but they have to try and draw strength

:25:08.:25:10.

from the fact that they are the team that is closest to Celtic, and they

:25:11.:25:14.

are a club that are capable of winning trophies and if they can do

:25:15.:25:17.

that, as I say, there is a chance for Aberdeen. I think what doesn't

:25:18.:25:21.

change in these game, is that you have to come down. You have to be

:25:22.:25:25.

able to handle the occasion the atmosphere, it is Celtic, it is

:25:26.:25:29.

different from playing any other team, Rangers and Celtic Cup Finals

:25:30.:25:32.

here are difficult. Mentally you have to be able to handle it. So

:25:33.:25:37.

fair Aberdeen haven't handled it on the big occasion, in the League Cup

:25:38.:25:40.

they didn't play particularly well. That I have to or Celtic will take

:25:41.:25:44.

the trophy. We know our reporter Jane loves a celebrity, she is on

:25:45.:25:48.

patrol outside Hampden, for anyone vaguely famous to be honest, she has

:25:49.:25:53.

found someone really famous early on, Harry Redknapp is here now. He

:25:54.:25:59.

was the Birmingham City, he is the current Birmingham City manager but

:26:00.:26:03.

he managed Portsmouth to their first FA win of 2008. This will be one of

:26:04.:26:08.

his rare interviews not out of the car, window, here he is with Jane.

:26:09.:26:11.

Is Harry, lovely to see you in Scotland. It begs the question what

:26:12.:26:15.

are you doing at the Scottish FA Cup Final? The English one is on you

:26:16.:26:20.

know. No, it was just, you know, I took over at Birmingham and trying

:26:21.:26:26.

to get in as many came agames as I can. I just thought I would come and

:26:27.:26:31.

have a look and see if there is any players who might want to go to

:26:32.:26:36.

Birmingham. I doubt, there is some good players on show. You might want

:26:37.:26:40.

to keep your plans quiet to Brendan Rodgers and Derek McInnes. What game

:26:41.:26:45.

do you expect today? Celtic, they are, they have had an incredible

:26:46.:26:50.

season. Derek has done a great job at Aberdeen. Celtic have won, they

:26:51.:26:55.

have the upper hand, and they have had the upper hand with everybody,

:26:56.:26:59.

it has been an amazing season for them but full credit to Aberdeen as

:27:00.:27:03.

well. To finish second, it has been fantastic. Celtic going for the

:27:04.:27:09.

treble. That will prove a good incentive. They will want to finish

:27:10.:27:13.

the job today but I am sure Aberdeen will want to stop that. It will be a

:27:14.:27:16.

great atmosphere, I am looking forward to it. Enjoy it Harry. That

:27:17.:27:24.

was nice of Jane. Harry Redknapp there and more VIP interviews to

:27:25.:27:28.

come between now and kick off. If Celtic do land the treble, and of

:27:29.:27:32.

course Brendan Rodgers and company have already got the Premiership

:27:33.:27:36.

trophy and the League Cup tucked away, just one game away from the

:27:37.:27:41.

clean sweep, it through be with impeccable timing. 50 years in a

:27:42.:27:44.

couple of days since the Lisbon Lions won the European Cup. That is

:27:45.:27:48.

an anniversary well worth celebrating.

Clark, number six, proud to be with the Lisbon Lions. I covered the

:28:30.:28:36.

European Cup final for The Observer newspaper. Jock Stein brought talent

:28:37.:28:42.

and elements of personality to the job of managing a football team,

:28:43.:28:48.

that have never been surpassed. We trained the day before and all of a

:28:49.:28:52.

sudden he picks the pace and the ball. The entire team was standing

:28:53.:28:57.

in the enclosure and the boss must have seen it. Whenever they saw us

:28:58.:29:03.

training in the past, the pace, the determination and the fun, that was

:29:04.:29:06.

the most important thing, we did it with passion. He said these people,

:29:07.:29:13.

that was Inter Milan of course, these people, he liked to talk about

:29:14.:29:18.

that, he said these people are defensive, that is their business,

:29:19.:29:22.

but that is not our way. He said we want to win this. In manner that

:29:23.:29:28.

will make every neutral happy we have won it. We have left the

:29:29.:29:33.

dressing room and the Italians were standing, all greased up. They

:29:34.:29:38.

looked better than us. They have the tan, and the oil. There is no doubt

:29:39.:29:43.

Bertie started it We have to go to war. He started singing in the

You walked up the stairs and out, it was a mass of people in green and

:30:13.:30:26.

final. The referee blew the whistle and we were on the way. The chances

:30:27.:30:37.

where he was going to pollute back on the left foot. I deliberately ran

:30:38.:30:42.

across his path. I didn't think many referees would have given a penalty

:30:43.:30:46.

kick in the first six or seven minutes but this one did. You feel

:30:47.:30:56.

no matter how great Celtic are, this is a job of work. We believed in the

:30:57.:31:09.

bass, we believed in ourselves. Wonderful save! At half-time the

:31:10.:31:14.

manager to told us to keep going, just push it a bit more. Through the

:31:15.:31:21.

whole of the European Cup they were probably the easiest opposition we

:31:22.:31:26.

played. After a short time we were playing to hang on. It's a goal!

:31:27.:31:35.

He's not giving it. Celtic, of course, performed in a way you felt

:31:36.:31:46.

had to win the match. He's done it! When they scored the goal, you

:31:47.:31:56.

looked at them and you thought, they're gone. Celtic have scored!

:31:57.:32:09.

Only five minutes to go in the European Cup and it's on its way to

:32:10.:32:19.

Glasgow. They had taken a wrecking ball to the theories about the

:32:20.:32:24.

percentages of defensive football. The whistle is going and Celtic have

:32:25.:32:32.

won the European Cup. We've won the European Cup. That was my favourite

:32:33.:32:44.

memory of what happened. He was the conquering of Europe by a bunch of

:32:45.:32:51.

players drawn from a weed corner of a wee nation. That's the best way

:32:52.:33:01.

I've ever seen any captain receiving a cup. It looked as if Caesar ruled.

:33:02.:33:13.

Even then, I had no doubt that that support, I'll never guess. Every

supporter comes up to shake your hand, they are delighted because it

:33:54.:33:58.

There's a great documentary on the go at the moment on the BBC iPlayer.

:33:59.:34:07.

Glasgow 1967, the Lisbon Lions. It's a fantastic watch so have a look at

:34:08.:34:12.

that. It evokes feelings of joy and sadness. Sadness for the Lions who

:34:13.:34:16.

are no longer with us, those suffering ill health and joy for the

:34:17.:34:21.

ones who are with us. Joy, an everlasting memory of the Lisbon

:34:22.:34:25.

Lions. The Scottish Cup connection is this because this was them a

:34:26.:34:30.

month before Lisbon, winning 2-0 against Aberdeen in the Cup final in

:34:31.:34:40.

front of a crowd of 126,102 crammed inside Hampden Park. That was the

:34:41.:34:45.

last time Celtic beat Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final which is an

:34:46.:34:53.

amazing statistic. But the spirit of 67, it is evident, for everyone who

:34:54.:34:58.

has anything to do with Celtic ever since that famous day in Lisbon.

:34:59.:35:02.

Yes, I think the biggest tribute you could pay to them is that the season

:35:03.:35:06.

reflects the success that they had. It's great they've had that to mark

:35:07.:35:14.

50 years. Not just are they incredible footballers, they are

:35:15.:35:19.

incredible people as well. They are great personalities. That comes

:35:20.:35:26.

across. They were saying there that the plaudits came from all over

:35:27.:35:31.

Scotland. It's not just about Celtic supporters appreciating the Lisbon

:35:32.:35:35.

Lions, I think the whole country appreciates what they achieved. They

:35:36.:35:39.

were a fabulous side. It was a football fairy tale. Back to our cup

:35:40.:35:47.

final poets, Liam McCormick has been retracing the road to Hampden in his

:35:48.:35:52.

original style. There are one or two David versus Goliath confrontations.

:35:53.:35:59.

He was in his late 20s, had a trial for Man City when he was just 16. He

:36:00.:36:08.

was the best player in his village. When he wasn't selected, he went

:36:09.:36:14.

home and perfected his touch, his pace, he chases his chance to shoot.

To touch pass to Scott Barber, finds the back of the net. David flicking

:36:23.:36:29.

the final whistle. Next round they've got Goliath. The fearsome,

:36:39.:36:43.

the great Don Baroness Warsi. 5-3, Dunfermline. They put in a good

:36:44.:37:03.

shift but not enough to win. 6-0, disappointed. Get some tea and

:37:12.:37:16.

from kick-off at Hampden. It's the Scottish Cup final on the BBC.

:37:17.:37:20.

Hopefully we are getting your appetite whetted ahead of the big

:37:21.:37:25.

match. Have you heard the one about the three Irish men? They lead the

:37:26.:37:28.

attack of Aberdeen and have scored 44 goals between them this season. I

:37:29.:37:33.

didn't Rooney, Niall McGinn and Jonny Hayes. -- Adam Rooney.

:37:34.:38:16.

Are you guys joining a team within a team? Are you pretty matey? We've

:38:17.:38:25.

got our own little corner. They say there are no Hampden in the changing

:38:26.:38:31.

room, there's the Irish clique. It's a weird thing that Irish players

:38:32.:38:39.

just seem to get on well. You've got to ask the boys, any club they've

:38:40.:38:45.

been to, guys with similar backgrounds coming across. Adam had

:38:46.:38:55.

eight or nine bedroom houses, a bit of a difference. We just seem to

:38:56.:38:58.

find each other at every football club. I've known as a long time. We

:38:59.:39:10.

just seem to get on. Similar backgrounds. To be honest, most

:39:11.:39:17.

Irish lads get on as well. He's got a picture on his phone showing you

:39:18.:39:22.

two very close and attentive to each other. He's a jealous lad, Reynolds.

:39:23.:39:31.

Is it just jealousy? Yes, he's always trying to worm his way in.

:39:32.:39:40.

Produce tape fake Irish passport! COMMENTATOR: Brilliant! What a goal

:39:41.:39:46.

from Niall McGinn. I've seen him do some wonderful things, he's got that

:39:47.:39:50.

ability. I've not played with many players of that calibre. Brilliant

:39:51.:39:57.

from Niall McGinn. He beat 34 lads and puts it in the box. His pace and

:39:58.:40:14.

fitness is incredible. For me personally, I haven't come across a

:40:15.:40:16.

lad like him. It hits Adam Rooney and goes in! At

:40:17.:40:32.

long last they have found the breakthrough. You don't go them too

:40:33.:40:43.

much about Northern Ireland's success, do you? Everyday! When I

:40:44.:40:51.

got 50 caps it was a special moment for me. It's been an unbelievable

:40:52.:41:00.

international career. Definitely the club football has stood me in good

:41:01.:41:09.

stead for that. How is the McGinn campaign going? I've got the post is

:41:10.:41:14.

ready for the Cup final. He's a good pal of mine. Whatever decision he

:41:15.:41:18.

makes, he'll have the best wishes from everyone here. He's produced

:41:19.:41:33.

performances on the pitch. Reynolds will be asking for number ten. Is

:41:34.:41:40.

that an ambition of his? He'll be thrilled! How much are you looking

:41:41.:41:50.

forward to Hampden? As a group, the last number of years we've always

:41:51.:41:53.

been confident about winning trophies. Hopefully we can do it

:41:54.:41:58.

this year. Seeing the three of you must give you confidence about the

:41:59.:42:05.

ability you've got in the team. I think we've won the trophy a few

:42:06.:42:10.

years ago, we've been to Hampden and lost, we need to use both

:42:11.:42:17.

experiences of winning and losing. There will be no better way than to

:42:18.:42:24.

get the winner 's medal. Thank you very much. STUDIO: Jonny Hayes'

:42:25.:42:37.

haircut was the highlight of that interview! LAUGHTER Every Saturday

:42:38.:42:43.

on the radio you talk about their every moment. Seeing Adam Rooney,

:42:44.:42:46.

there's a whisper at the moment, we'll confirm it very shortly, that

:42:47.:42:51.

Adam Rooney might not start. How would you react to that? I think

:42:52.:42:58.

going through Derek McInnes' mind was the last game against Celtic

:42:59.:43:06.

more mobile, goes from side to side more mobile, goes from side to side

:43:07.:43:14.

-- Stockley played up front. It gave the Celtic centre-backs a lot to

:43:15.:43:19.

think about in that game. If Rooney doesn't start and Stockley does I

:43:20.:43:22.

think it's because of his performance against Celtic last

:43:23.:43:27.

time. For me, he's not the goal-scorer Adam Rooney is. Yes, he

:43:28.:43:32.

may have performed OK but goals are vital. Adam Rooney is the go to man.

:43:33.:43:36.

He's what you look for in a number nine striker. He gets in the areas

:43:37.:43:41.

you want him to. Jayden Stockley doesn't have that about him. If that

:43:42.:43:45.

is confirmed it will be a surprise for me. It didn't take Rooney long

:43:46.:43:49.

to strike in the semifinal against Hibs. It was a disaster starting to

:43:50.:43:58.

Hibs. He took his goal really well. It was a really accomplished finish,

:43:59.:44:02.

that early on in the game. He was ready right from the whistle. It's a

:44:03.:44:08.

shock. The fact that he's not playing. Is that Derek McInnes

:44:09.:44:13.

thinking, I've just got to try something out of the ordinary,

:44:14.:44:15.

something that maybe most people aren't predicting? I think what he's

:44:16.:44:22.

doing is putting his football knowledge to the test. It's a big

:44:23.:44:27.

call, there's no doubt. For me, Adam Rooney would have been in the team.

:44:28.:44:30.

Obviously the manager is employed to make the calls. This is a huge

:44:31.:44:36.

stage. He's putting his neck on the line a bit. In terms of making that

:44:37.:44:40.

decision, if in fact but if the decision but that is what he's to

:44:41.:44:49.

do. To be means team news. -- two o'clock means team news. We're just

:44:50.:44:53.

an hour away from kick-off of the William Hill Scottish Cup final.

:44:54.:44:58.

We have the official teams. That Celtic side features McGregor, not

:44:59.:45:08.

Tom Rogic. Griffiths start, Dembele has made the bench. It is not a

:45:09.:45:14.

surprise. Griffiths has been in sparkling form. Dembele hasn't

:45:15.:45:18.

played. He probably won't wouldn't be match fit. If he is on the bench,

:45:19.:45:23.

he is a great player to bring on later. McGregor has had the

:45:24.:45:27.

sensational season, under Brendan Rodgers, he is a big favourite and

:45:28.:45:32.

he has had an impang in big games here at Hampden, there is no

:45:33.:45:37.

surprises for me. We were talking at the start, perhaps Derek McInnes had

:45:38.:45:42.

the one big decision to make. He has made two. Ryan Jack does start. He

:45:43.:45:47.

lost the captaincy in midweek. It will be his final game for Aberdeen.

:45:48.:45:54.

Rooney has been benched. He is their top goal scorer and he has been

:45:55.:45:57.

brought on to the bench, and Jayden Stockley replaces him. Now, this

:45:58.:46:01.

isn't the first time Derek McInnes has thrown a curve ball in this

:46:02.:46:06.

fixture. He started Burns earlier in the season. He was on loan in the

:46:07.:46:10.

first half of the campaign. He started Stockley the last time

:46:11.:46:14.

Aberdeen faced Celtic. They lost 3-1. Played well for 80 minute, he

:46:15.:46:20.

is going for the direct approach. Without a doubt Stoch caused them

:46:21.:46:23.

problems. He has a physical presence. I am surprised by Jack

:46:24.:46:29.

coming into the team. I don't understand the psychology of

:46:30.:46:32.

stripping him of the captaincy, a game of such importance, for him

:46:33.:46:37.

coming into the team. Rooney is goal scorer. It's a big goal to take your

:46:38.:46:43.

main goal scorer out of the team. Stockley will give a big physical

:46:44.:46:49.

presence. They will have the pace of Hayes and McGinn.

:46:50.:46:56.

McClean scored a volley in training and had his team-mates applauding.

:46:57.:47:00.

That will be a first! Less than an hour to kick off. No less than three

:47:01.:47:05.

of the Aberdeen players played for the last game in. What an afternoon

:47:06.:47:10.

this could be. Thank you. What a bold decision for Derek McInnes,

:47:11.:47:13.

here he is in conversation on the pitch with Jayden Stockley, the man

:47:14.:47:17.

who comes in today for number nine Rooney, he will lead the attack for

:47:18.:47:23.

Aberdeen against Celtic in this Scottish Cup Final, and well, the

:47:24.:47:26.

Aberdeen fans will be taking onboard that information as we speak about

:47:27.:47:31.

it, as well, and my feeling I think was pretty much the feeling you were

:47:32.:47:35.

voicing there, which is yes, he can be a menace to play against for the

:47:36.:47:39.

Celtic defence but if he gets a chance, will he score the goal? Yes,

:47:40.:47:43.

I mean, I think about it from Celtic's perspective, they are in

:47:44.:47:47.

the changing room and think see Rooney is not play, they will be

:47:48.:47:53.

happy with that. Yes Jayden Stockley has a more physical presence, he is

:47:54.:47:56.

probably better in the air, but I think there is other ways you are

:47:57.:47:59.

talking to Willie before about is Derek McInnes just trying to do

:48:00.:48:03.

something that is unexpected to be different? Different? There is many

:48:04.:48:09.

things you can do, alter the shape but for me when you have number nine

:48:10.:48:13.

main guy striker you don't drop him in a Cup Final, you have him up

:48:14.:48:17.

there as the target man, the guy that will score you goals. You saw

:48:18.:48:22.

it in the semifinal. Semifinal. Rooney will get you a goal. It is is

:48:23.:48:26.

a big call and a big surprise for me. So the news headlines, Jack

:48:27.:48:34.

plays alongside Shinnie, it is Stockley for Rooney up front,

:48:35.:48:36.

Griffiths starts for Celtic, Dembele on the bench and in the midfield

:48:37.:48:41.

area it is McGregor and Armstrong who have the nod. Rogic doesn't make

:48:42.:48:46.

the starting 11. Christie has played for both Celtic and Aberdeen this

:48:47.:48:49.

season, loaned out to the dons for the second half of the campaign, so

:48:50.:48:52.

he can't feature for either today. That is why he is currently on

:48:53.:48:56.

holiday in Florida, where it is probably cooler than this this,

:48:57.:48:59.

rather than wrestling with his emotions here, before he left he

:49:00.:49:03.

gave us inside information as a man with a foot in both Camps.

:49:04.:49:16.

Yty. That is brilliant. Outstanding piece of finishing by the onloan

:49:17.:49:30.

Celtic player. Faces eest player is Jonny Hayes, when he gets up to 40,

:49:31.:49:38.

50 yards he is incredible. Celtic, there is a few Forrest is up

:49:39.:49:43.

there. He has a very good turn of pace. Roberts as well. I would say

:49:44.:49:52.

either one of them two. Skillful at Aberdeen, I would say

:49:53.:49:58.

McGinn. Think in training when sometimes he stands there, you don't

:49:59.:50:01.

know what skill he will pull out on you.

:50:02.:50:10.

Celtic, I will say, a tough one Sinclair I'll say, just because the

:50:11.:50:15.

same situation, it's frightening when he has the ball at his feet.

:50:16.:50:22.

The worst dressed. At Aberdeen I would say Adam Rooney, he is this

:50:23.:50:26.

changing room and every day I kind of see him walk in to the changing

:50:27.:50:32.

room, with a question what went through his head hen he went into

:50:33.:50:39.

the cupboard. Celtic, it will say Sviatchenko. He comes in shirt tie,

:50:40.:50:46.

blazer which is, a bit too smart for some of the most Carayol boys. There

:50:47.:50:52.

is a few on the field at Aberdeen. Rooney if you don't pass him the

:50:53.:50:55.

ball, you haven't done the right thing. At Celtic the same, there

:50:56.:51:02.

Griffiths there is a common theme of triker, if you don't give them the

:51:03.:51:06.

ball they will not be happy. Aberdeen. Taylor without a doubt,

:51:07.:51:11.

probably the most built man I have seen in football. Incredible the

:51:12.:51:15.

body strength he has. At Celtic I would have to say Scott Browne

:51:16.:51:18.

because he is not going to pull out of it.

:51:19.:51:24.

Aberdeen, Reynolds, he is up to something in the changing room.

:51:25.:51:32.

Messing with somebody's gear, Celtic, Lustig, he is similar, he is

:51:33.:51:36.

always up to something, you can never quite trust him. I haven't

:51:37.:51:43.

seen many from Aberdeen. I heard Patrick Roberts sing when he came to

:51:44.:51:47.

Celtic, he threw in a bit of R B which was a bit strange coming from

:51:48.:51:53.

him. Both times I had to sing a Song, I

:51:54.:52:01.

sung the same one. I sung can't keep Keep My Eyes After You. It is a

:52:02.:52:06.

strange one but it is quick so I am up and back down.

:52:07.:52:11.

# I love you baby # I love you baby

:52:12.:52:19.

# If I's quite all right... # Strange day for him. He is probably

:52:20.:52:23.

in Florida, could have played for either team, ends up playing for

:52:24.:52:27.

neither. Found himself in a very difficult position, you know, we had

:52:28.:52:33.

a similar position at, ourselves last year, with, whether Liam

:52:34.:52:35.

Henderson was going to play if Celtic got to the final. It is a

:52:36.:52:39.

tough one, going out in the semifinal, and performing, but even

:52:40.:52:43.

knowing that no matter what happens he doesn't want to play in the

:52:44.:52:46.

final. Mixed emotions but that is probably why he has got himself

:52:47.:52:51.

away. He was raising questions about Rooney and his dress sense, that is

:52:52.:52:55.

the least of his worries and problems. He will be devastated to

:52:56.:52:59.

be left out of this. He must be. It is a huging on casing, the pinnacle

:53:00.:53:03.

of the season, I think that Derek McInnes would have had to worked

:53:04.:53:08.

very hard with Adam, to you know, convince him that his decision was

:53:09.:53:13.

right and playing Stockley ahead of him, and he, the reasons why. You

:53:14.:53:20.

know, I think, I think maybe players take it too easy, you know, in the

:53:21.:53:26.

modern day but when you were used to playing and you know your best team.

:53:27.:53:30.

I believe that Adam Rooney in the team is the best team so it is a big

:53:31.:53:34.

call from the manager. Rooney must be really disappointed but you know

:53:35.:53:38.

what, I am sure Derek McInnes will be saying you still have a big part

:53:39.:53:43.

to play in this Cup Final. I don't think Stockley will stay on for the

:53:44.:53:47.

whole game. I am sure Rooney will come on at some point. We mentioned

:53:48.:53:52.

Celtic's reaction to Rooney not being in the starting XI for the

:53:53.:53:58.

Aberdeen side. Will Aberdeen be relieved that Tom is not involved? I

:53:59.:54:04.

don't think they would have expected Rogic to be in the side. He picked

:54:05.:54:11.

up that bad injury. He has had too many happy days in Aberdeen. You

:54:12.:54:15.

look at McGregor and the goals he scored in big games, he has come on

:54:16.:54:18.

to real form in the second half of the season s and I think you know,

:54:19.:54:22.

the way that Brendan Rodgers has spoken about McGregor as well, there

:54:23.:54:25.

was no doubt he wasn't going to be starting this game. As said in big

:54:26.:54:30.

games McGregor has come up with big goals, so yes Rogic has had good

:54:31.:54:34.

form against Aberdeen but McGregor is somebody they will have to keep

:54:35.:54:38.

an eye on as well. Surprising that McGregor wasn't named in the

:54:39.:54:40.

Scotland squad for the England game. Scotland squad for the England game.

:54:41.:54:47.

. We have been rewinding the game in poetic fashion. Liam is our man of

:54:48.:54:53.

words. Here he reflects on the romantic team of Bony Rig can be

:54:54.:54:55.

rose. Bony rig, rose to the challenge,

:54:56.:55:06.

scored 30 goals on the road to Hampden, Echeverria if one more game

:55:07.:55:10.

was all they could manage they had a wee bit of history to brandish.

:55:11.:55:18.

141 years old. Three cups, it is like he is 11 men inside. But he

:55:19.:55:23.

rose to the challenge. Scored 31 goals on the road to Hampden. The

:55:24.:55:28.

Hibs scored one. Then two. Then three. Then four! Then five. Then

:55:29.:55:37.

six. Then seven, then eight. It is not about how many times you lose,

:55:38.:55:42.

it is about the small ways you can claim smaller victories like out of

:55:43.:55:47.

the box shot or eh getting their name in history books our Elgin

:55:48.:55:52.

getting Inverness's Derby day delayed because there is more fans

:55:53.:55:54.

on the way. His soul is leopard print. He takes

:55:55.:56:05.

camera left but a spotlight. That is what he gets.

:56:06.:56:11.

Hibs -- Hibs lips are dry, Hearts are pounding, don't you just know

:56:12.:56:17.

Raith Rovers or Heart of Midlothian. Raith Rovers or Heart of Midlothian.

:56:18.:56:24.

. Co-on stubs Stubbs, let me know. We will have an Edinburgh Derby in

:56:25.:56:35.

the fifth round. Shinnie. Aberdeen's acting shy. Looking for an answer.

:56:36.:56:41.

Come on staggy, let's spend the fifth round together.

:56:42.:56:49.

It found its way in. Aberdeen into the quarterfinal of the William Hill

:56:50.:56:52.

Scottish Cup. Hit happened plunges like a swan,

:56:53.:56:58.

bobbing for apples. He bellows, realises he has picked his team and

:56:59.:57:07.

says if if you want it easy, come on Stubbsy let me know. What a finish

:57:08.:57:17.

by the captain. Hamilton's Matthews saving three

:57:18.:57:22.

penalties is exactly as good as a riff from do You Think I'm Sexy.

:57:23.:57:38.

# If you really need me... # Rod Stewart seemed relaxed for that

:57:39.:57:43.

draw? He was in good form. He was great. You know, obviously he is a

:57:44.:57:50.

personality but on that day he just seemed to have an added influence.

:57:51.:57:55.

He did seem to have an influence on a memorable day. Let us hear, we

:57:56.:58:01.

have had the team news of course, fromer for both. Let us have an

:58:02.:58:04.

interview with Brendan Rodgers and Chris is talking to him.

:58:05.:58:09.

Brendan, let us start with the team news. Griffith starts Dembele is on

:58:10.:58:14.

the bench. Is that based on match fitness or merit? Well, a bit of

:58:15.:58:19.

everything really. I think it is April 27th Moussa has been out. He

:58:20.:58:25.

has done great to come back and make himself available having had the

:58:26.:58:28.

hamstring injury. The team is in a good moment. It is fluent, playing

:58:29.:58:33.

well. Lee is scoring goals, so there is no need for me to change it. But

:58:34.:58:41.

delighted that the likes of Moussa is back, Rogic is back. So gives a

:58:42.:58:47.

strong bench if we need it. Sum up what this would mean to you in this

:58:48.:58:51.

club, to complete the domestic treble? Yes, of course it's huge,

:58:52.:58:57.

but we have tried not to think about that. We can speak about it after,

:58:58.:59:04.

if it takes place, but Celtic has a great record in this competition, we

:59:05.:59:08.

want to honour that tradition of winning the Scottish Cup. It is a

:59:09.:59:12.

fantastic and historical competition, you know, the Scottish

:59:13.:59:17.

FA Cup is a wonderful tournament, and obviously, of course, we want to

:59:18.:59:20.

finish the last game of the season and it would mark a fantastic season

:59:21.:59:25.

for us. Brendan, thank you. Good luck. We will hear more from him

:59:26.:59:34.

later, Celtic against Aberdeen, the Scottish Cup Final. Celtic aiming

:59:35.:59:38.

for the treble live on the BBC. Brendan there spoke about the bench

:59:39.:59:43.

and that is a significant thing, because I was looking at Adam

:59:44.:59:47.

Rooney, he could play a big part in reserve but when you look at Celtic,

:59:48.:59:53.

Dembele, Rogic, Forrest there, all three could be involved, could be

:59:54.:59:56.

instrumental in deciding who wins this. When you look at the bench, he

:59:57.:00:01.

has Game Changers on the bench. As well adds in the starting XI he has

:00:02.:00:05.

them on the bench. If he needs to. It is a really strong bench. Dembele

:00:06.:00:11.

being fit for the game is a huge shot in the arm for them. But he

:00:12.:00:15.

obviously felt that he just probably wasn't right to start the game. That

:00:16.:00:17.

is why Lee starts. There's something psychologically

:00:18.:00:25.

boosting the Celtic having Moussa Dembele waiting in the wings. You

:00:26.:00:29.

have a top-quality striker who looked as though he wasn't going to

:00:30.:00:33.

take part, who all of a sudden has declared himself fit. To have him on

:00:34.:00:37.

the bench is a huge bonus for Brendan Rodgers. Leigh Griffiths is

:00:38.:00:45.

a fabulous player, but if it's not happening for him, if it's not

:00:46.:00:49.

working, he turned to the bench and you've got this goal machine sitting

:00:50.:00:53.

on the bench. It's a fabulous position to be in. Having Dembele on

:00:54.:00:58.

the bench, Leigh Griffiths will be aware of that. Leigh Griffiths has

:00:59.:01:01.

done very well coming into the side but he will know Dembele is sitting

:01:02.:01:05.

on the bench, and if he doesn't come up with the game he needs to play,

:01:06.:01:08.

then I'm sure Brendan Rodgers when think twice. He could put the two of

:01:09.:01:20.

them on. It's not a straight swap. He's done it before. If Aberdeen

:01:21.:01:26.

fans are worried about the teams, it's not showing at the moment, as

:01:27.:01:34.

we look at the Dons supporters arriving outside. I'm going to say

:01:35.:01:43.

2-1 Aberdeen. 2-1 after extra time. Hopefully it'll be a good

:01:44.:01:56.

atmosphere. 2-1 to the Dons. 2-1 Aberdeen. 10-0. I'm not going to be

:01:57.:02:07.

so confident, I'll say 2-1 Aberdeen. Go the Dons! I'm not sure about Adam

:02:08.:02:14.

Rooney first scorer now that we know the team news. The question was, who

:02:15.:02:19.

could we get to interview Scott Brown about his ten years at Celtic.

:02:20.:02:23.

Hopefully someone with relevance and credibility. We couldn't quite

:02:24.:02:28.

manage that but his former Hibs team-mate Michael Stewart stepped up

:02:29.:02:29.

to the plate. The most influential player in

:02:30.:02:52.

Scotland, Brendan Rodgers came out with a couple of weeks ago. Did that

:02:53.:02:58.

sit well with you? It was a nice read. For me it's different this

:02:59.:03:03.

season compared to last season, due to injuries. The manager has taken

:03:04.:03:08.

my game up a level and you're thinking of different ways to play

:03:09.:03:11.

different structures. It was great to learn and see what he wants to do

:03:12.:03:17.

for Celtic. I jumped in right away, I understood what he wanted to do.

:03:18.:03:21.

That's the way I wanted to play as well, high up the park. Here you go

:03:22.:03:28.

with Mr Strachan when you were getting paraded when you signed. Ten

:03:29.:03:33.

years at Celtic is a long time, going back to when you joined,

:03:34.:03:37.

you've evolved and changed so much as a player. How big an influence

:03:38.:03:42.

was Gordon and what did he say to change you as a player? He brought

:03:43.:03:46.

maturity to my game. He said he wanted to build the team around

:03:47.:03:50.

myself and a few other ones. He sees me more as a defensive midfielder.

:03:51.:03:56.

Get the ball back and keep it simple. It was great for me. My

:03:57.:04:02.

confidence went sky high, then you played in a Champions League game

:04:03.:04:10.

I've ended up in behind the strikers I've ended up in behind the strikers

:04:11.:04:18.

! Half-time came and he looked at me and said, what are you doing? I

:04:19.:04:23.

thought, I've done all right here! He said, playwright midfield. For me

:04:24.:04:32.

I just didn't understand, it was a huge learning curve in the first

:04:33.:04:38.

season. In training there were claims everywhere in the middle of

:04:39.:04:41.

the park. It was just understanding where to play. How did that one go

:04:42.:04:49.

down when you sign for them? Quite well, to be fair. Went up to win the

:04:50.:04:53.

ball and obviously upper body strength is a lot better than his.

:04:54.:05:00.

He was off balance and fell over but ended up sticking his leg into my

:05:01.:05:07.

chest. He got a straight red, came in, signed, was sitting in the

:05:08.:05:10.

training room in the first couple of days. He was being -- I was chatting

:05:11.:05:19.

being chirpy. I said, you getting sent off against me, he said, you

:05:20.:05:26.

dived! He chased me about in training for about 45 minutes. I

:05:27.:05:35.

wasn't going to touch the ball. You're all mate, you have the ball!

:05:36.:05:42.

LAUGHTER The back-end of last season, thinking about your future

:05:43.:05:45.

at the club, was there any point when you were thinking, I need to

:05:46.:05:49.

get out of here? I thought my playing career was coming to an end.

:05:50.:05:53.

It was one injury after another. It was a hard season for me. Gordon

:05:54.:05:59.

came to my house and said, how are you feeling? I said, my legs have

:06:00.:06:03.

totally gone the season. I wasn't feeling myself. He said, I see that.

:06:04.:06:09.

He said, everyone sees that. How are you going to fix it? What are you

:06:10.:06:15.

going to do. He said, go out there and prove everyone wrong. I had to

:06:16.:06:19.

go out and change a lot of things, try and get myself as fit as

:06:20.:06:23.

possible, maintain that level. Since the manager has come in I've done

:06:24.:06:28.

that. You got a good relationship with Brendan Rodgers, haven't you? A

:06:29.:06:32.

great relationship. He puts a lot of trust and faith in me. The training

:06:33.:06:37.

he's given us throughout this whole season, he's made everyone fitter

:06:38.:06:49.

and better. You talked about the internationals, you've come back, a

:06:50.:06:52.

U-turn, what was going through your head? We've spoken about your

:06:53.:06:59.

relationship with Gordon, that was pivotal. I had a great pre-season,

:07:00.:07:03.

through the Champions League and we got into the Champions League. I was

:07:04.:07:07.

feeling proper good about myself, I was as fit as I probably been for a

:07:08.:07:12.

long time. We had a chat... It was you that drove it? It was me. I love

:07:13.:07:18.

playing in Scotland. At the time I was captain of Scotland, I was sad I

:07:19.:07:22.

had to give that up. It's the first selfish thing I've probably done in

:07:23.:07:27.

football and it was the best decision I've probably made. This

:07:28.:07:30.

season everybody recognises the transformation has been massive. Are

:07:31.:07:36.

you annoyed you've not got a Player of the Year nomination? Or is it

:07:37.:07:40.

just because everybody hates you?! It's probably a bit of both! I don't

:07:41.:07:46.

like getting beat. I demand a lot of other people and people demand a lot

:07:47.:07:50.

from me as well. They might think I'm arrogant on the park but that's

:07:51.:07:54.

just me, I want to win games. I want to do the best I possibly can for

:07:55.:07:59.

myself and for Celtic as well. If I'm part of it that's great, if not,

:08:00.:08:05.

we've got team of the year. How does this current side compare with the

:08:06.:08:07.

teams you've had over your ten years? Looking wise? LAUGHTER We

:08:08.:08:14.

probably aren't the best looking bunch I've ever played with.

:08:15.:08:17.

Footballing wise, it's been a death of fresh air. This season is the

:08:18.:08:23.

best I've probably played in the whole of my career. Some things will

:08:24.:08:31.

never change. Story of my life! You've got a few years left, do you

:08:32.:08:37.

see them at Celtic? Yes, I want to finish my career at Celtic. I love

:08:38.:08:41.

the place and for the last ten years it's been phenomenal. It's been a

:08:42.:08:45.

great experience and here's hoping I can finish my career here and Gordon

:08:46.:08:51.

Strachan says I can play the 14th! So if they give me another 80 deal

:08:52.:08:55.

it would be much appreciated! LAUGHTER The only goal I'd score

:08:56.:09:01.

that's probably been worthwhile! What was said, nothing or just a

:09:02.:09:07.

stair? Nothing whatsoever! The Cup final, you win this, the treble, a

:09:08.:09:11.

bit of pressure on your shoulders. There's always pressure on our

:09:12.:09:15.

shoulders. The expectation level at Celtic is to win every game, every

:09:16.:09:20.

cup, every league. This is the closest we've been so far, it's what

:09:21.:09:24.

we wanted to do, ever since I signed for Celtic and this is the best

:09:25.:09:32.

opportunity we have to do it. STUDIO: That was a great interview

:09:33.:09:37.

but the most intriguing thing for me was that key -- keepy-up sequence.

:09:38.:09:51.

For some people, Scott Brown is misunderstood. Probably. You heard

:09:52.:09:56.

him saying that he was a demanding person. He's quite mouthy as well. I

:09:57.:10:01.

think that filters through and people get the wrong perception. You

:10:02.:10:05.

ask anybody who has dealt with him in a changing room, he's such a good

:10:06.:10:10.

character, he's a genuine leader. He's got a great way about him. He

:10:11.:10:15.

likes a laugh and a joke but when it comes to the football, very serious

:10:16.:10:25.

and wants to win. Jayden Stockley starts up front for Aberdeen today,

:10:26.:10:27.

in preference to Adam Rooney. Ryan Jack starts with the Dons as well.

:10:28.:10:30.

Let's hear from Derek McInnes. I'm going to start with the obvious,

:10:31.:10:33.

Stockley and Rooney on the bench, what you're thinking there? I felt

:10:34.:10:38.

in the last game, Jayden Stockley imposed himself on the centre-backs,

:10:39.:10:43.

allowed us to get up the pitch and get our midfield on the side of

:10:44.:10:46.

their midfield a bit quicker. I think he occupies defenders a lot

:10:47.:10:52.

more. And played the last final here and he was too detached, we never

:10:53.:10:57.

got bodies close enough to him. I think that in the last game at the

:10:58.:11:01.

Pittodrie Stadium, it was probably the most effective we've been in

:11:02.:11:06.

terms of attacking play. I think Jayden had upon to play. He was in

:11:07.:11:13.

pivotal in everything, he missed a chance and he was in a lot of the

:11:14.:11:18.

right areas a lot of the time. His presence hopefully will help us gain

:11:19.:11:21.

some territory and help us to play the game more in their half of the

:11:22.:11:27.

pitch. Celtic are excellent in both attacking and defending and in our

:11:28.:11:31.

half of the pitch and their half of the pitch. It's important to try and

:11:32.:11:35.

pass that pressure at the right time. Hopefully Jayden will have a

:11:36.:11:41.

positive influence, but we've picked a team we feel can win. Thank you,

:11:42.:11:49.

good luck. We'll hear from Derek McInnes in more detail before

:11:50.:11:53.

kick-off. Ryan Jack starts for the Dons. Jayden Stockley as well. What

:11:54.:11:58.

a day in the rain at hand Hampden Park, that young man taking the

:11:59.:12:05.

place of Adam Rooney in attack. How was that explanation? Pretty much as

:12:06.:12:10.

I thought. He's looking back on the last game against Celtic at the

:12:11.:12:14.

Pittodrie Stadium. There's no doubt Stockley is a big target man. Rooney

:12:15.:12:19.

is and, he isn't the type of player whose more mobile. Stockley took

:12:20.:12:27.

care of both centre-backs, they both struggle to cope with him on the

:12:28.:12:31.

night. I think Derek knows against Celtic that they haven't done enough

:12:32.:12:35.

in the Celtic final third. He needs to get up there a bit quicker. He

:12:36.:12:43.

explained it all entirely how I thought he was thinking. For me,

:12:44.:12:48.

you've got two guys in their crew would put the fear into the Celtic

:12:49.:12:55.

defence. If you play them in a position, not write up top but in

:12:56.:12:59.

behind the midfield, they can be your release. If you slide balls

:13:00.:13:08.

into McGinn and Hayes, they can go and attack the Celtic backline and

:13:09.:13:12.

then you can get your team further up the Park. You still have Adam

:13:13.:13:16.

Rooney who's there to capitalise on the chances that can be made. We

:13:17.:13:21.

interrupted our conversation that talking about Derek McInnes. We were

:13:22.:13:26.

on the topic of Scott Brown and Brendan Rodgers and what a

:13:27.:13:29.

partnership that has been this season. Here they are the other

:13:30.:13:36.

night when Celtic won with style. They have plenty to say to each

:13:37.:13:42.

other and it's obviously a key relationship. I think whenever

:13:43.:13:45.

you've got a group of players, you need your go to man. I think in

:13:46.:13:50.

terms of a manager and a captain, they have to have a really good

:13:51.:13:54.

Bond, to be able to get the points you want to get across the players,

:13:55.:13:58.

through him. You don't always want to be that voice of the manager.

:13:59.:14:03.

Sometimes you want it to come from the players, especially the captain,

:14:04.:14:07.

rather than hearing the manager's voice all the time. Brendan would

:14:08.:14:11.

have leaned dons got to do a lot of that this season. There is always

:14:12.:14:16.

either a word of well done or, will move onto the next game. He likes to

:14:17.:14:22.

set targets, Brendan. If you think back to the start of the season, all

:14:23.:14:27.

the chat was that Scott Brown was finished and Brendan Rodgers was

:14:28.:14:30.

going to move him out. When I spoke to Scott he said he met him in

:14:31.:14:34.

London early on before going to training and straightaway he knew

:14:35.:14:38.

this was a guy he was going to get a relationship with. Scott said we all

:14:39.:14:44.

feel fit and strong this season, they probably aren't that fitter

:14:45.:14:48.

than last season but psychologically they feel as if they are five yards

:14:49.:14:52.

quicker, so much stronger physically. That is what a good

:14:53.:14:53.

manager does. Now he is talking as if he might

:14:54.:15:05.

play till his 40. Alasdair Strokosch said he wouldn't play -- Gordon

:15:06.:15:09.

Strachan said he wouldn't play until he was 40. Scott Browne,

:15:10.:15:13.

misunderstood, think opposition fans don't like him because he is good.

:15:14.:15:18.

He is a winner. By the way it is not a popularity contest, when you are

:15:19.:15:20.

out there, you are out there to win. Who cares at the end of day, if you

:15:21.:15:24.

are popular or not with the opposition fan, as long as you are

:15:25.:15:28.

popular with your home fans. What he wants to do is lift that piece of

:15:29.:15:33.

silver wear that was with us earlier, the Scottish Cup Final

:15:34.:15:36.

Celtic against Aberdeen and we are just about half an hour from kick

:15:37.:15:41.

off. Let us have one last helping of our Cup Final poet who has been

:15:42.:15:45.

retelling the story of the competition. We are talking prematch

:15:46.:15:48.

rituals and the part played by superstition.

:15:49.:15:55.

If we are no winning at half-time, it's because he hasn't shaved. His

:15:56.:16:00.

magic Trings have saves us more than once. I imagine the manager in the

:16:01.:16:04.

dressing room on the phone to my stepmum saying get him in the

:16:05.:16:09.

bathroom now. She makes us a cup of tea. Brings through biscuits and dad

:16:10.:16:14.

Parretts the patter he has held on to. St Mirren is the best team

:16:15.:16:22.

Celtic have played this season. Why do I always come back? There must be

:16:23.:16:31.

a reason. At last Celtic are level. In the space a minute Celtic have

:16:32.:16:37.

turned this game on its head. Did you see Rangers hammer Hamilton?

:16:38.:16:45.

Can he get a hat-trick? He can't. Aye. McGregor, the opening goal of

:16:46.:16:55.

the second semifinal. Hibs getting Aberdeen, only took them 12 seconds

:16:56.:16:59.

to take lead. In the opening minute and that is an unbelievable start

:17:00.:17:03.

for the Dons. He shoots, McGregor takes a knee.

:17:04.:17:08.

It is ambitious but deflected into the net! Net! And in every village

:17:09.:17:18.

and every town and every city stories the same. An alien would

:17:19.:17:24.

find it strange the chant and the dance with the paints faces saying

:17:25.:17:29.

us when they mean 11 men, what is a week and why is it so important when

:17:30.:17:35.

it end? Dad leans back on the couch. He come poetses his text. Good

:17:36.:17:39.

morning boys and girls what's crack. Hampden is bathed in sunshine, you

:17:40.:17:44.

would think it was set for a party. It is line Spain, minus the

:17:45.:17:50.

flip-flops. Keep you updated. Now, now, Celtic, Aberdeen.

:17:51.:17:59.

That has been great. Liam's build up to this big match and of course the

:18:00.:18:02.

road to Hampden which is a traditional part of the Cup Final

:18:03.:18:06.

coverage. The Celtic fanses were in good voice on Thursday night at the

:18:07.:18:11.

Glasgow hydroas they celebrated the 50th anniversary of Lisbon 1967. Let

:18:12.:18:17.

us find out what they are saying prematch here. Scott Brown is going

:18:18.:18:23.

to score first. Score any time of day. 2-1. He thinks 3-0. 3-1 to

:18:24.:18:32.

Celtic. Come on The Hoops. Come on The Hoops. Hopefully maybe 3-0. You

:18:33.:18:41.

are confident then? Definitely. 4-0. Griffiths, Dembele. McGregor, I

:18:42.:18:45.

would like to see score a goal today. A few, aye, I think we will

:18:46.:18:51.

do well. Come on Celtic! I think we just about heard that. Optimistic

:18:52.:18:59.

and why not going into the big match, the invincible. Can they do

:19:00.:19:03.

the treble? We have heard about Derek McInnes about the team, let us

:19:04.:19:07.

listen to him in more detail. I sat down with him the dug out. A chance

:19:08.:19:14.

for McClean. Aberdeen are turning it on. I love watching my player, I

:19:15.:19:20.

don't get nervous when I watch my team. I I look forward to 3.00 on

:19:21.:19:25.

Saturday. That is an unbelievable start for the Dons. We played a lot

:19:26.:19:35.

of big games, meaningful games. Try to deliver training sessions and the

:19:36.:19:39.

way we are working, to enjoy it as a player. An outstanding late winner

:19:40.:19:45.

surely for Aberdeen. I quite like the thought that we are mixing it

:19:46.:19:55.

with Celtic. I think it is important that myself and the staff set the

:19:56.:19:59.

pace, really and we have. The way we are working is demanding on the

:20:00.:20:04.

players. Couldn't think of anything worse if

:20:05.:20:12.

there wasn't an expectation to be successful We were the bottom six,

:20:13.:20:16.

in a poor place, we weren't be respected. We were irrelevant as a

:20:17.:20:21.

club, we were living on history and I feel how we are prominent and we

:20:22.:20:26.

are a club that is expected to win more trophies in the time we are

:20:27.:20:29.

ear. So a third Cup Final in four year, we have won one, lost one, we

:20:30.:20:32.

know how that felt. Rogic on the edge of the box. A

:20:33.:20:51.

wonderful goal by Tom Rogic. Forrest attacking the box. This Cup Final

:20:52.:20:59.

may be won already. It is going to hark head. It was disappointmenting.

:21:00.:21:04.

It is a long way back up the road after this performance.

:21:05.:21:10.

Remining of the Cup Final, it was as if there was a fall out in the

:21:11.:21:14.

family and we have had to get results again, get the supporters to

:21:15.:21:18.

believe in us again. I think the players' response to losing that has

:21:19.:21:24.

been magnificent, you know, to go on a record winning home run in the

:21:25.:21:28.

last 25 years and going two or three good spells has gone a long way, I

:21:29.:21:34.

think, to showing that we are not as bad has the team that played in the

:21:35.:21:37.

cup fine. Are you sure that won't happen again? As sure as we can be.

:21:38.:21:42.

It was a shock to me, how we played. You know. But, you know, Sir Alex

:21:43.:21:48.

spoke to me after the game. He phone add few days later, he spoke about

:21:49.:21:53.

how I think he had lost 11 Cup Finals as a manager. A lot of people

:21:54.:21:57.

wouldn't have realised that. It is only by revisiting them and getting

:21:58.:22:02.

yourself familiarised with the whole day, and the whole situation and the

:22:03.:22:07.

intensity of the whole day, you start to become at home within that,

:22:08.:22:11.

we have to respect opponent and the point can do that to any team in

:22:12.:22:15.

Scotland. What we need to try and do is make sure that anything Celtic do

:22:16.:22:19.

get, they will have to earn that and work for it. We have to try and deny

:22:20.:22:24.

space, deny they are better players touches of ball. We will have to

:22:25.:22:29.

become forward and be aggressive. We have to make sure how we respond to,

:22:30.:22:34.

if we go behind, are we going to accept that is it? We will show we

:22:35.:22:40.

are more than that and we have to show ael determination and attitude,

:22:41.:22:44.

that we believe the trophy is coming back to Aberdeen. Big moment. Huge

:22:45.:22:49.

goal from Jonny Hayes, it is Aberdeen who go in front.

:22:50.:22:56.

When Rangers were promoted people felt we would be pushed aside to get

:22:57.:23:00.

to a second Cup Final and be the only team that can stop Celtic now,

:23:01.:23:05.

winning all three trophy, that pleases me, it is us. That is is a

:23:06.:23:13.

brilliant ball. McGee has put Aberdeen into the lead. The Scottish

:23:14.:23:19.

Cup is seen as a special trophy for Aberdeen. It was synonymous with

:23:20.:23:23.

successful periods within the club's history. I want that for my players.

:23:24.:23:28.

It would be some achieve to beat Celtic and bring the Scottish Cup

:23:29.:23:34.

here for the first time since 1990. Celtic have top players but we can

:23:35.:23:39.

beat them. Holding on to that real belief and confidence, if we can

:23:40.:23:41.

achieve that. I can't give them the medal. I would love to put it in

:23:42.:23:46.

their hand and walk back in dressing room and look at them and all have

:23:47.:23:50.

winners' medals in their hands. It is important we see the bigger

:23:51.:23:55.

picture. We want to try and be the best team in the Cup Final and the

:23:56.:24:03.

winning team. What an impact he has had in his

:24:04.:24:07.

time at Aberdeen. He has improved them year on year, that takes some

:24:08.:24:13.

doing, that is for sure. Big days, big decisions as well for Tony

:24:14.:24:18.

Doherty alongside Derek McInnes with Jayden Stockley a starter and Adam

:24:19.:24:21.

Rooney left out of the starting line up. The Aberdeen fans I guess will

:24:22.:24:26.

be wondering what part the League Cup Final will play in today's game.

:24:27.:24:32.

Has it drained Aberdeen's belief of getting the job done on the big

:24:33.:24:37.

occasion, or can they use this, Celtic's 3-0 win from the 27th

:24:38.:24:41.

November, 2016 as motivation, to get it right today? Simply they have to.

:24:42.:24:45.

You know, you listen to Derek there, I am sure they have spoken about it

:24:46.:24:51.

on many occasion, it is St no an occasion where you want want to put

:24:52.:24:55.

one side. They were hurting coming off park. The fans didn't enjoy it.

:24:56.:25:02.

They didn't turn up that was the most disappointing aspect of League

:25:03.:25:05.

Cup Final. We are talking about the two best teams in Scotland now.

:25:06.:25:09.

Aberdeen have got to go out and at least prove that they are the second

:25:10.:25:13.

best. And hope on day they can be the best team in Scotland. But they

:25:14.:25:16.

have to use that experience, absolutely. I have been there myself

:25:17.:25:21.

in losing Cup Final, you have to use that experience, you have to have

:25:22.:25:25.

that inner strength to make sure you perform. So much of this is

:25:26.:25:30.

psychological and is sorted out before the teams come on the pitch.

:25:31.:25:35.

You have to to be in the right state of mind. He spoke brilliantly well.

:25:36.:25:43.

I really do believe that you have to experience the disappointments here,

:25:44.:25:46.

before, and they make you stronger. I spoke about it with the Hibs team

:25:47.:25:50.

when we got beat. On the day I thought we were the better team but

:25:51.:25:54.

we made fundamental mistakes we cost us the result. I kept driving

:25:55.:25:57.

forward all the time, saying you have to learn from this experience.

:25:58.:26:02.

You have to be able to, when you go back next time you experience the

:26:03.:26:06.

jubilation of winning, and you can see Derek saying there, that yes, OK

:26:07.:26:12.

we haven't performed well but if we can perform to a certain level, he

:26:13.:26:17.

honestly believes he can beat Celtic. If you look at the two Cup

:26:18.:26:21.

Finals last year. There was fundamental mistake, you shot

:26:22.:26:24.

yourself in the foot at times. You think about the League Cup in

:26:25.:26:28.

November there, Celtic breaking on Aberdeen. They lost possession in

:26:29.:26:35.

areas where they were attacking, they got counters too Lesley. They

:26:36.:26:38.

have to recognise they can't do those things so when they get in

:26:39.:26:42.

those positions they have to be more clinical. This Celtic side are well

:26:43.:26:46.

capable of countering an putting the game out of sight. We have spoken

:26:47.:26:51.

about the significance of the Celtic captaincy and their relationship

:26:52.:26:56.

between Browne and Roger, we have spoken about Jack and Shinnie. That

:26:57.:27:01.

is key isn't it, and, that how Jack performs, what state of mine he is

:27:02.:27:06.

in as Graeme Shinnie leads the team out? Yes, this is a great

:27:07.:27:09.

opportunity for Ryan, a young player I know well, he has been at the club

:27:10.:27:15.

from age 12 all the way through, was a stand out. So if will is one

:27:16.:27:20.

person within the development programme that you would say is

:27:21.:27:23.

going to make it to the top, it was going to be Ryan Jack. He has made

:27:24.:27:27.

it there and been captain, I don't think he is a natural captain. You

:27:28.:27:30.

look at Graeme Shinnie, for me watching him on the, park, he looks

:27:31.:27:35.

like a natural captain. He looks like one who wants to take the

:27:36.:27:38.

responsibility and grows as a person, on the field. So that is why

:27:39.:27:43.

I don't think it is is a big deal. He has been sitting there waiting,

:27:44.:27:46.

he hasn't been waiting for his turn, this is his turn, he is another

:27:47.:27:50.

Aberdeen lad. He has the opportunity to go out and lift the trophy again.

:27:51.:27:55.

He has already lifted the trophy. I remember speaking to radio room on a

:27:56.:28:00.

last season and it was Shinnie's first year, he spoke about Shinnie

:28:01.:28:03.

being the main leader in the team, but he had only joined, he didn't ex

:28:04.:28:08.

pent him to get the captaincy. As the next captain. Captain. I do

:28:09.:28:15.

think taking the captaincy off Ryan Jack, I just, it was surprising for

:28:16.:28:19.

me when he is going to be a pivotal player in the game. Brendan Rodgers'

:28:20.:28:25.

first season in the game as manager has ripped up the domestic book, it

:28:26.:28:29.

could be treble time. # Out of the tree of life I pick me

:28:30.:28:39.

It felt like it was destiny It felt like it was destiny

:28:40.:28:44.

# You came along and everything started to hum. #

:28:45.:28:48.

club club

:28:49.:28:50.

# It's a real good bet # It's a real good bet

:28:51.:28:53.

# The best is yet to come # What we have done this year has been

:28:54.:28:57.

truly remarkable. I have really loved every minute of

:28:58.:29:03.

it. From the first day walking out. At Celtic Park, you know, I think

:29:04.:29:08.

the supporters showed their commitment to me then. By turning up

:29:09.:29:13.

and giving me that ovation on arrival. And from that point then, I

:29:14.:29:18.

knew that my commitment to them was to be the very best that could be,

:29:19.:29:24.

that I couldn't let them down. McGregor. It is 3-0. They have had

:29:25.:29:32.

enjoyment and I think they are proud of watching the team. I can see that

:29:33.:29:37.

on the faces, I can see that in the stand and that is something that

:29:38.:29:41.

makes me really happy. Most goals they have scored in a

:29:42.:29:45.

season. Most points they have attained in a season, their biggest

:29:46.:29:51.

title margin of victory. Celtic are invincible. I would suggest it is

:29:52.:29:57.

probablies a once in a lifetime achievement you only need to look at

:29:58.:30:01.

history, history tells you how difficult they are to achieve. With

:30:02.:30:06.

a hub like Celtic, the many great managers they have had here, so for

:30:07.:30:12.

us to do it we are in a privileged position, but we have earned the

:30:13.:30:15.

accolade. I don't think it should take away from the fact you can

:30:16.:30:24.

still improve. We might win one less trophy next year, we might lose some

:30:25.:30:28.

games but we might progress in the Champions League. That can be

:30:29.:30:32.

improvement. My focus is on improving everything in the club.

:30:33.:30:35.

What is fantastic is there a lot of growth here at Celtic. The longer I

:30:36.:30:41.

am here, the more I see, the more we can develop, and I can say that is

:30:42.:30:44.

the exciting part. It is just beginning.

:30:45.:30:49.

That's audacious. Another Moussa Dembele hat-trick. The players have

:30:50.:30:56.

been remarkable, what they've given to the season, the professionalism

:30:57.:31:02.

and focus, and quality. That self-improvement is there to see. It

:31:03.:31:07.

is a remarkable achievement to have gone through that period, and

:31:08.:31:15.

beaten. -- unbeaten. I'm not worried about my reputation, that's not the

:31:16.:31:18.

worry for me. My only worry at this moment is to do the best I can for

:31:19.:31:25.

Celtic. I've worked down south, I've worked in the Premier League, I've

:31:26.:31:29.

worked in the championship. I think everyone is pretty clear of the

:31:30.:31:33.

qualities I have, whether they are good or bad. This experience is a

:31:34.:31:39.

special experience for me. I'm not sure I'll ever get this again in my

:31:40.:31:46.

life, managing the club I've supported since I was a child,

:31:47.:31:52.

managing a club I was born into. It is Celtic's League Cup and it is an

:31:53.:31:57.

early silver lining to the Brendan Rodgers heiress. It was a really

:31:58.:32:03.

special occasion, of course. The supporters enjoyed it. It was more

:32:04.:32:11.

important that it was the club's 100 trophy and something tangible to

:32:12.:32:15.

show for the early part of the season. CHEERING

:32:16.:32:25.

A wonderful goal by Tom Rogic. We know it's going to be a really tough

:32:26.:32:28.

game against Aberdeen. We played them five times this season already.

:32:29.:32:32.

Even though we've had five victories, they'll come into the

:32:33.:32:35.

game exactly as you would expect. You want to win, and irrelevant of

:32:36.:32:42.

the performance, and we want to play well. We want to win the Cup and

:32:43.:32:47.

finish off what would be a glorious season for us. STUDIO: The vital

:32:48.:32:53.

statistics are mind boggling. Stillborn milestone to be achieved,

:32:54.:33:15.

he will hope, today. He wants the treble. Yes, I think this is the

:33:16.:33:22.

icing on the cake. They've had a fantastic season. They've been

:33:23.:33:26.

fantastic to watch, they've been entertaining. He's made a couple of

:33:27.:33:30.

additions to the team that have been a revelation. And now, you come to

:33:31.:33:37.

the final game of the season and he will want the team to keep doing

:33:38.:33:41.

what they've been doing in the previous nine months. Others have

:33:42.:33:45.

come into Scottish football and had a big impact. This has been pretty

:33:46.:33:51.

spectacular from Brendan Rodgers, hasn't it? Absolutely. If he does

:33:52.:33:55.

want today it will be magnificent, if he doesn't, it will still have

:33:56.:33:59.

been a fabulous first year for him. Taking some of the players we had

:34:00.:34:03.

questions about last season and turning them into this machine that

:34:04.:34:07.

just produces wins, even when they aren't playing well they'd find

:34:08.:34:11.

something to produce a win. He's made better players of them and he's

:34:12.:34:16.

made his mark. That is the hallmark of a good manager. There's been a

:34:17.:34:20.

couple of additions who have been revelations but on the whole, you're

:34:21.:34:27.

talking about a squad who really questioned last season, they didn't

:34:28.:34:30.

perform the way they should have. Brendan Rodgers has come in, taking

:34:31.:34:35.

them to a different level. There have been a couple of other players

:34:36.:34:39.

he's taken from the periphery to be mainstays in this team. As I said, I

:34:40.:34:43.

think that's the hallmark of how good a manager Brendan Rodgers is.

:34:44.:34:48.

His one player who's had the Brendan Rodgers treatment, Scott Sinclair

:34:49.:34:51.

who's been around quite a few clubs in England. His career was on the

:34:52.:34:56.

starter. To Glasgow, and this was his goal of the bench, his first

:34:57.:35:01.

goal at Tynecastle against Hearts. He's barely stopped scoring sense,

:35:02.:35:06.

or setting up goals as well. When you look at the additions, you look

:35:07.:35:11.

at Dembele who's had a great season. For me, Scott Sinclair has been the

:35:12.:35:16.

most important player. Not only as he scored goals, he's created, his

:35:17.:35:21.

flexibility within his game is fantastic. He'll make runs through

:35:22.:35:25.

the middle, he goes down the left, he cuts inside, ghost on the right.

:35:26.:35:29.

As a defender or as a team, to be able to adjust to that is very

:35:30.:35:36.

difficult. It's been big games he scored in. The flexibility he gives

:35:37.:35:39.

to the team. Celtic in possession, a lot of the time they rotate the tree

:35:40.:35:45.

at the back. Tierney pushes up to the left and it allows him to step

:35:46.:35:48.

up the line, it means it's difficult for opponents to pick up. I couldn't

:35:49.:35:53.

agree more that he's been a real top find. Not even a find, a top player.

:35:54.:35:58.

He's turned his career around. Brendan Rodgers has brought him to

:35:59.:36:06.

Celtic and I'm pretty sure he feels it's the best decision he's made.

:36:07.:36:08.

Talking about players he's relaunched, you could go through the

:36:09.:36:12.

entire line-up. I think individually he's improved every player. But, you

:36:13.:36:18.

know, another important aspect of any manager is taking individuals

:36:19.:36:21.

and blending them in to 18, and a team who know what they are doing. I

:36:22.:36:27.

haven't watched Celtic this season and had any thoughts that they

:36:28.:36:30.

didn't know exactly what they were doing. Last season, absolutely. This

:36:31.:36:36.

season, no. He's taken players, improved players, he's blended them

:36:37.:36:41.

into a fabulous side. Derek has done it as well. I know we are speaking

:36:42.:36:47.

about Brendan but Derek has done the same. He's improved his players

:36:48.:36:51.

season upon season. That's why they both deserve the credit. They've

:36:52.:36:56.

been fantastic. One key element in his team this season is Jonny Hayes.

:36:57.:37:02.

He broke the Celtic monopoly of the Player of the Year nominations for

:37:03.:37:07.

PFA Scotland. He broke into that and well-deserved too. He's got such a

:37:08.:37:14.

great attitude, Michael. This is intelligence. He recognises where

:37:15.:37:17.

the defenders are, gets on the end of the cross. He's got a great

:37:18.:37:21.

attitude. His work ethic is phenomenal. He couples it with real

:37:22.:37:27.

ability and he's so direct as well. Such a great finish. He's so direct.

:37:28.:37:33.

If you get into areas of the Park, he has got the potential to hurt

:37:34.:37:39.

Celtic. You don't want to him tracking back, chasing full-backs

:37:40.:37:42.

and ending up in the back himself. You want him in those areas in and

:37:43.:37:46.

around the box. He is capable of scoring goals and hurting Celtic.

:37:47.:37:52.

Aberdeen bon Jonny Hayes to be on Sun today. They also want Niall

:37:53.:37:57.

McGinn to go out in style and produce his best. There are two key

:37:58.:38:03.

players. Whenever I watch Aberdeen, if they have been influential, if

:38:04.:38:08.

they've been in the opposition half of the Park, if they are in and

:38:09.:38:13.

around the goal, they are going to create opportunities. Jonny Hayes

:38:14.:38:16.

with his directness, Niall McGinn with his intelligence. He just gets

:38:17.:38:24.

his shoulder and puts the cross into the box. These are two key players.

:38:25.:38:30.

You can't have Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn tracking back. When you've

:38:31.:38:33.

got the ball these two have got to get themselves up the Park and cause

:38:34.:38:37.

problems for the Celtic full-backs. Let's face it, the Celtic full-backs

:38:38.:38:42.

don't have many problems to take care of during the season. They need

:38:43.:38:49.

a problem this afternoon. Look about, colourful and amazing

:38:50.:38:53.

pre-match at Hampden Park, with the Scottish Cup final just minutes

:38:54.:38:57.

away, Celtic against Aberdeen. Not a seat to be had. Aberdeen would love

:38:58.:39:01.

to think they can be asserted from the start, and impose themselves.

:39:02.:39:05.

That's easier said than done against Celtic. Celtic make you feel

:39:06.:39:11.

inferior because they've got those good players. That creates doubt

:39:12.:39:15.

amongst the players. That's why you see some teams who feel like they

:39:16.:39:20.

are always on the back that all the time. They need that belief and

:39:21.:39:25.

confidence to say, we are going to have a go at Celtic and try and put

:39:26.:39:28.

them under pressure. You just never know. You're talking about the

:39:29.:39:36.

teams, nobody has beaten Celtic this season and most teams are playing a

:39:37.:39:40.

containment game against Celtic. Celtic get into the rhythm, and

:39:41.:39:43.

eventually they are going to break you down. In a cup final you've got

:39:44.:39:48.

to take the risk. In the guys with Niall McGinn and Jonny Hayes,

:39:49.:39:52.

they've got two players capable of exploiting those areas down the

:39:53.:39:56.

centre halves, getting some penetration and putting balls into

:39:57.:39:59.

the box. Jayden Stockley may get on the end of it but I would rather

:40:00.:40:04.

have Adam Rooney in there. We are talking about Aberdeen going

:40:05.:40:09.

forward. What about Aberdeen defending. At times they've been

:40:10.:40:14.

very rocky at the back. They've got to be solid. The two centre-backs

:40:15.:40:18.

have got to make sure there are no errors today. You don't give

:40:19.:40:22.

anything to Celtic. It's going to be difficult enough out there feeling

:40:23.:40:26.

and coping with a team like Celtic. If you give them opportunities it is

:40:27.:40:30.

really impossible. I was part of a team that when we went out, we felt

:40:31.:40:36.

we were superior. And other teams were inferior. Aberdeen have an

:40:37.:40:40.

opportunity to show that they are a very good side to take on this

:40:41.:40:45.

partly superior Celtic side and overtake them. To do that this

:40:46.:40:49.

afternoon would be immense. It would be immense the Derek, the team and

:40:50.:40:53.

the city. I asked Brendan Rodgers if this final hurdle this season

:40:54.:40:57.

brought extra pressure and made this much more difficult. His answer is,

:40:58.:41:01.

we have that pressure week in, week out, gaming, game out, always

:41:02.:41:06.

expected to win. Brendan has given the players a huge amount of

:41:07.:41:11.

confidence and belief to go and play. You can tell that by their

:41:12.:41:15.

performances this season. Every one looks five times better than last

:41:16.:41:22.

season. That will be the same today. Aberdeen have got to put all of that

:41:23.:41:29.

out of the equation and go, our mindset is, we've got to play the

:41:30.:41:33.

best game we've played all season. We talked about captains, there's

:41:34.:41:36.

got to be 11 captains out there today. They've got to have 11

:41:37.:41:40.

performances above anything they've done this season in order to get a

:41:41.:41:44.

result. If they can do that, they can cause an upset. It's going to be

:41:45.:41:48.

difficult but they can cause an upset. Do you see it happening to

:41:49.:41:53.

Aberdeen, Michael? It's a long shot. There's no doubt Celtic are the

:41:54.:41:57.

favourites. It's football and anything can happen. You just never

:41:58.:42:02.

know, as Allen said. If you stick to the game plan, you get a slice of

:42:03.:42:06.

luck, something falls your way, you never know. That's what you've got

:42:07.:42:10.

to believe in. You've got to believe you got the chance and you can do

:42:11.:42:17.

it. There they are, the teams in the tunnel for this 2017 William Hill

:42:18.:42:21.

Scottish Cup final. Will it be a trouble for Brendan Rodgers and

:42:22.:42:25.

Celtic? Can Aberdeen land the Scottish Cup for the first time

:42:26.:42:29.

since 1990? You are about to find out in the company of our commentary

:42:30.:42:32.

team Steven Thompson and Liam McLeod. COMMENTATOR: It was a fairly

:42:33.:42:43.

forgettable final back in 1990, that memorable conclusion for Aberdeen

:42:44.:42:45.

when Brian Irving scored that decisive penalty. A chance to follow

:42:46.:42:54.

legends. Two clubs with a wonderful history. The invincible is against

:42:55.:43:02.

the Dons. It's been 15 years since the top two sides in Scotland met in

:43:03.:43:07.

Scottish football's showpiece. The first time these two clubs have gone

:43:08.:43:13.

head-to-head in a 27 years at this stage of the Scottish Cup. The

:43:14.:43:19.

inescapable spectre of the troubles it is tantalisingly close for this

:43:20.:43:23.

Celtic team. 47 domestic games have come and gone and they haven't lost

:43:24.:43:30.

one of them. Just one more, just the fourth time in their history, they

:43:31.:43:34.

will sweep all three of Scotland's's major trophies. Many believe that if

:43:35.:43:39.

that is to be stopped, Aberdeen are the only side capable of doing so

:43:40.:43:44.

right now. However, the five meetings this season have yielded

:43:45.:43:51.

five Celtic victories. So, a big afternoon for Mr Rogers and Derek

:43:52.:43:58.

McInnes. Graeme Shinnie has picked up the armband for the last game of

:43:59.:44:06.

the season. Ryan Jack will be the the parting stage left after this

:44:07.:44:13.

afternoon's showpiece. Moussa Dembele is back but he is on the

:44:14.:44:18.

bench for Celtic. Leigh Griffiths continues up front. Colin McGregor

:44:19.:44:21.

gets the Lords having score that wonderful opener against Rangers in

:44:22.:44:26.

the semifinals. It's strong, very strong. As you would expect, threats

:44:27.:44:30.

all over the place in that Celtic side. No Adam Rooney for Aberdeen,

:44:31.:44:39.

what a decision that is by Derek McGuinness. The Dons top scorer, he

:44:40.:44:44.

will cut a frustrated figure among the substitutes. Jack returns for

:44:45.:44:55.

his first start in a month. He, Taylor and McGinn look like they are

:44:56.:44:59.

playing their final games for the club. Dembele is on the Celtic

:45:00.:45:05.

bench. The other five outfield substitutes, full internationalists.

:45:06.:45:09.

Rooney joined by his countryman O'Connor.

:45:10.:45:29.

Fabulous scenes as Aberdeen do their warm up, their biggest day for a

long time. Sinclair has been man of the season. The football writers

:45:56.:46:29.

unnecessarily cut short and Hampden Park will fall silent to pay tribute

:46:34.:46:36.

to those killed, injured and affected by what happened at the

:48:10.:48:15.

Celtic have been celebrating a very special anniversary this week, the

:48:16.:48:23.

50th anniversary of their most famous triumph, when they became the

:48:24.:48:29.

first British club to win the European Cup in the Portuguese

:48:30.:48:33.

capital Lisbon. Aberdeen looking to provide Celtic with a fly in the

:48:34.:48:39.

ointment. Not many are giving them a chance today. Unless you are of a

:48:40.:48:55.

red-and-white persuasion. The 13 the end Scottish Cup Final. It hasn't

:48:56.:49:01.

finished goalless since 1990. Will it be a treble for Celtic or will

:49:02.:49:07.

Aberdeen end a wait of 27 years for a trophy they grew accustomed to

:49:08.:49:13.

picking up across the 1980s? The Scottish champions on an unbeaten

:49:14.:49:17.

run of 32 games and even then that defeat was inflicted by Barcelona,

:49:18.:49:28.

and Messi's double. The great Milan side, Arsenal, Conte's Juventus,

:49:29.:49:36.

Celtic matched them last week with an unbelievable league season.

:49:37.:49:39.

Aberdeen need to start better than they did in the Cup Final at the end

:49:40.:49:43.

of November. They have to believe they can win today, they need to

:49:44.:49:47.

play for me, the perfect game to win today, they cannot afford to have

:49:48.:49:53.

even one of their players below par. An early chance. Looking for

:49:54.:49:58.

Stockley. Here is Shinnie, lovely play from the captain. He couldn't

:49:59.:50:05.

dig it out in time. Considine. Celtic clear, positive start for

:50:06.:50:08.

Aberdeen. Really positive start. Jonny Hayes

:50:09.:50:13.

showing his worth on the right-hand side. Getting a decent ball intoy

the box. Aberdeen had a brilliant league season themselves, beating

:50:20.:50:23.

their own record points tally they set under McInnes a couple of years

:50:24.:50:36.

ago. MacLaine. -- McLean. Tierney, who has had a terrific

:50:37.:50:41.

season, Griffiths is offside: That is an early warning shot for Logan.

:50:42.:50:47.

He was caught up the park there. Givet should have timed his run

:50:48.:50:51.

better, he looks as though he might have been onside when the ball was

:50:52.:50:55.

played through. It is easy from an Aberdeen perspective.

:50:56.:51:06.

Moussa Dembele picked up that happen string injury in the semi against

:51:07.:51:16.

Rangers, he made it to the bench. Bench. Bobby Madden, an emotional

:51:17.:51:23.

day for him, the referee, he was diagnosed a year ago today with

:51:24.:51:26.

thyroid cancer, his quick recovery sees him take change of his first

:51:27.:51:31.

major final. Terrific moment for him.

:51:32.:51:40.

Celtic in the green and white as you would ebb expect attacking Mount

:51:41.:51:46.

Florida Aberdeen shooting east. This is a first touch for Robert, on loan

:51:47.:51:51.

from Manchester City. How Celtic would like to get him back. Slips it

:51:52.:51:55.

through to Armstrong. Jack following him.

:51:56.:52:02.

A heavy touch from Armstrong. They have not said that too many times,

:52:03.:52:06.

he has been outstanding, a great wee bit of play from Celtic. Keeping the

:52:07.:52:11.

ball. Rotating as that he do, in the final third, Armstrong just overrun

:52:12.:52:15.

it. Just over a year to the day that

:52:16.:52:20.

Brendan Rodgers was paraded at Celtic Park.

:52:21.:52:25.

What an impact he has had on the club. Only two Celtic managers have

:52:26.:52:35.

won a treble before him. He was on to win it today. Jock Stein and

:52:36.:52:42.

Martin O'Neill. Stein did it twice. Hayes. Taking on Tierney.

:52:43.:52:49.

Really good defending by Tierney who is a wonderful attacking threat for

:52:50.:52:53.

Celtic. He knows how to defend. People for get that at time, he is

:52:54.:52:58.

is a top defender, Jonny Hayes is quick, believe me, when he turned

:52:59.:53:02.

with the ball there, against most defenders in the league he would

:53:03.:53:05.

have been away to get a cross in the box. Tierney got his body in front

:53:06.:53:11.

of him. Fantastic defending. Griffiths. 18 goals this season. He

:53:12.:53:17.

scored 40 last campaign. Doing well to repeat the trip.

:53:18.:53:24.

Celtic have improved tenfold in this kind of situation this season.

:53:25.:53:31.

Playing out from the keeper. Considine trying to stick to

:53:32.:53:40.

Roberts. Aberdeen fans appreciating the

:53:41.:53:46.

effort of their left-back. Griffiths.

:53:47.:53:58.

Aberdeen free kick. It is good play initially from

:53:59.:54:02.

Griffith. I think he felt Shinnie gave him a nudge into Considine and

:54:03.:54:15.

he was looking for the foul himself. It has been five different winners

:54:16.:54:20.

of the Scottish Cup in the last five season s Hearts, Celtic, St

:54:21.:54:22.

Johnstone, Inverness and Hibernian. Misunderstanding there between

:54:23.:54:47.

Griffiths. Griffiths went too early on that occasion the last one was

:54:48.:54:50.

tying but he was yards offside there.

:54:51.:55:01.

Stockley will need better service than that from Taylor. If you are

:55:02.:55:06.

playing as a loan striker, the service up to you is pivotal to the

:55:07.:55:10.

whole system working, and the service has to be right. When it

:55:11.:55:15.

comes up to Stockley, the link has to be right. The players McClean,

:55:16.:55:23.

Hayes have to get round him in support. Aberdeen will play that

:55:24.:55:27.

way, try and miss out the midfield where Celtic are strong and try and

:55:28.:55:32.

get a foot hold further up the pitch in the Celtic half.

:55:33.:55:43.

McGregor. What a game he has come on to in the closing months of the

:55:44.:55:47.

term. Tierney. Sinclair. Sinclair. Taylor. He is

:55:48.:55:58.

away from them as well. That will be a Celtic corner, it is their first

:55:59.:56:06.

of the match. Sensational from Sinclair. He looks

:56:07.:56:10.

like he has nowhere to go. He dinks it over Taylor. Poor defending from

:56:11.:56:14.

Taylor. He is lucky the final ball wasn't the best from Sinclair.

:56:15.:56:20.

They will still aim to profit though. Seven minutes in. Aberdeen

:56:21.:56:25.

were 3-0 down after 11 minutes in the most recent league meeting.

:56:26.:56:32.

Griffiths, looking for Boyata. That is not a bad effort from McGregor.

:56:33.:56:36.

He slices away. It shows you the confidence he has

:56:37.:56:40.

got. A decent clearance but he takes the touch and wants to hit it first

:56:41.:56:44.

time. It is always going away when he slices it with his left foot. He

:56:45.:56:53.

knows how to score here at Hampden. He burst on to the scene after

:56:54.:56:59.

Diyala gave him his debut in Iceland. Fell away a bit McGregor,

:57:00.:57:07.

but he is part of the furniture under Brendan Rodgers.

:57:08.:57:18.

Hayes and Stockley combine, not once, but twice. That is an earn

:57:19.:57:25.

corer. Good play from Aberdeen, a good interchange with Stockley,

:57:26.:57:29.

again, Tierney showing what a top defender he is s closing the space

:57:30.:57:33.

down, it is a conner this time. Certainly physical Stockley, he has

:57:34.:57:37.

been sent off three times this season.

:57:38.:57:50.

Hayes puts it in! Well, well, that wasn't in the Celtic script.

:57:51.:58:00.

Aberdeen are out early on. What a finish by Hayes, the Dons lead the

:58:01.:58:04.

final. That is a set play. Something they

:58:05.:58:09.

have worked on. Stockley goes from back to front. Hayes comes round the

:58:10.:58:13.

back. It is a fantastic left footed finish.

:58:14.:58:20.

He has been one of their star men this season. Once again and Aberdeen

:58:21.:58:25.

have drawn blood, nine minutes into this Scottish Cup Final. What a

:58:26.:58:28.

moment for Jonny Hayes. When Derek McInnes went to his bed

:58:29.:58:44.

last night he would not have been able to dream of a better start.

:58:45.:58:49.

Against a rampant Scottish champions, Aberdeen are in front.

:58:50.:58:52.

I was going to say, from an Aberdeen point of view, they want to hope

:58:53.:58:57.

Celtic don't concede in the first ten minutes, no, you know and they

:58:58.:59:02.

have gone and got the goal. It was a fantastically well worked set play.

:59:03.:59:11.

That will certainly galvanise Aberdeen. Many thought if they were

:59:12.:59:16.

going to win they would have to score the first goal. This will be

:59:17.:59:20.

important times for the Dons as they try to prevent Celtic from replying

:59:21.:59:27.

instantly. Simunovic. McGregor. Great challenge

:59:28.:59:39.

by Shinnie but it brakes to Armstrong. Oh he levels it

:59:40.:59:44.

immediately! Just over a minute after going

:59:45.:59:50.

behind, Armstrong smashes Celtic back on terms.

:59:51.:59:55.

What a reaction from Celtic from a player who has had an incredible

:59:56.:59:59.

season. Who the ball come, he has onening in his mind. On his left

:00:00.:00:04.

foot and there is the touch in a sensational finish into the bottom

:00:05.:00:05.

corner. He's having a terrific campaign,

:00:06.:00:16.

Stuart Armstrong. That is his 17th goal of the season. What a return.

:00:17.:00:22.

Derek McInnes will be furious. To take the lead and then give it away

:00:23.:00:30.

so quickly. We've just been saying they were important times for

:00:31.:00:38.

Aberdeen to try and prevent the immediate retaliation. Every single

:00:39.:00:44.

time Celtic have been asked a question this season, they have come

:00:45.:00:46.

up with an answer. In the build-up to that, she needed

:00:47.:01:07.

really well to get the ball for Aberdeen.

:01:08.:01:13.

Stuart Armstrong was a young man at a club just north of Aberdeen back

:01:14.:01:35.

in the day. A terrific finish. Could Aberdeen have defended better, could

:01:36.:01:39.

the goalkeeper have defended it better? I think the quality of the

:01:40.:01:44.

finish was superb. He had one thing on his mind, he hit it well and it

:01:45.:01:48.

dipped right into the corner. I don't think you can blame the

:01:49.:01:52.

goalkeeper. Celtic haven't started the way they would have planned.

:01:53.:01:58.

It's been a sluggish start. They aren't controlling the match as they

:01:59.:02:06.

normally do. It's a wonderful strike. I don't think anybody can be

:02:07.:02:13.

at fault, individual brilliance from Armstrong.

:02:14.:02:32.

A couple of goals early on. Another Scottish Cup final will go by

:02:33.:02:45.

without a goalless draw. The last time that happened was between these

:02:46.:02:54.

two, all the way to penalties. We are back where we started, Stephen.

:02:55.:03:03.

Yes. Hayes tries to take on Simunovic. I think Aberdeen will be

:03:04.:03:09.

the happier of the two sides at this stage, they've threatened more than

:03:10.:03:13.

I thought they would. Celtic yet to find their rhythm.

:03:14.:03:29.

The Dons with a free kick. Aberdeen playing in a new kit this afternoon,

:03:30.:03:39.

the one they will be wearing next season. They did that the last time

:03:40.:03:48.

they played in the Scottish Cup final, it was in 2000 against

:03:49.:03:55.

Rangers. They lost Jim Leighton early on, didn't have a keeper on

:03:56.:03:58.

the bench. Step forward Robbie Winters. Nice spin away from Brown.

:03:59.:04:05.

McGinn couldn't find a team-mate. Scott Sinclair has got Tierney

:04:06.:04:33.

rampaging. It's a decent overlap from Tierney. I think he slipped as

:04:34.:04:36.

he was about to put the cross into the box. Brilliant play from Jonny

:04:37.:04:41.

Hayes at the other end of the pitch, just before that, with his turn on

:04:42.:04:50.

Scott Brown and his cutback. A foul thereby Boyata. He is disputing it.

:04:51.:05:00.

It was always going to be a good tussle. He probably went down a bit

:05:01.:05:07.

softly, there. Celtic maintaining this incredible scoring record they

:05:08.:05:11.

have against Aberdeen. They've only failed to do it once since December

:05:12.:05:15.

2000 and one. The Scottish Cup replay in Glasgow for Aberdeen. The

:05:16.:05:26.

only goal in a replay. Less than two minutes between the two goals in

:05:27.:05:34.

this final. Hayes looking for McLean. A real anti-climax for

:05:35.:05:38.

Aberdeen. Scott Sinclair has it back. 64 games now, then. And only

:05:39.:05:46.

in one of those have Celtic failed to score. Stuart Armstrong's

:05:47.:05:52.

equaliser ensuring that continues. Patrick Roberts could have been away

:05:53.:06:21.

on World Cup duty, chose to play for the club. He's been sublime this

:06:22.:06:34.

season. The unsung hero in the Celtic team, Lustig. Mr dependable

:06:35.:06:35.

at right back. The Celtic fans and Callum McGregor

:06:36.:06:54.

felt he was fouled but they have it back anyway.

:06:55.:07:03.

Getting the ball out there down by the corner flag. Nice bit of

:07:04.:07:19.

possession for Celtic, that's more what we are accustomed to from them.

:07:20.:07:24.

Keeping the ball, rotational movement, dragging Aberdeen around

:07:25.:07:33.

defensively. A good challenge thereby McLean. Aberdeen trying to

:07:34.:07:40.

get the ball to stick, a free kick here to take the heat out of the

:07:41.:07:46.

situation. Kenny McLean does well initially to get the ball of Scott

:07:47.:07:50.

Brown. Scott Brown has dominated so many matches for Celtic in the

:07:51.:07:54.

middle of the Park this season. Aberdeen need to get someone on him,

:07:55.:07:58.

tightly. Kenny McLean did that, there. Years of mediocrity for the

:07:59.:08:09.

Aberdeen supporters, and a fabulous four years and the Derek McInnes.

:08:10.:08:18.

Shinnie is an side here. Celtic almost forgot about Graeme Shinnie,

:08:19.:08:22.

he ghosted in behind. Excellent, a fantastic ball in. Shinnie does

:08:23.:08:28.

well. The angle wasn't right for the shot. It's been wonderful for

:08:29.:08:39.

Aberdeen this season, Graeme Shinnie. Still no Scotland cap, even

:08:40.:08:46.

in the squad for the game here in England in a fortnight. -- the game

:08:47.:08:53.

against England in a fortnight. Celtic can perhaps feel lucky not to

:08:54.:08:58.

be included. As Gordon Strachan says, it's an area that the Scotland

:08:59.:09:06.

squad is blessed with. At full-back, Kieran Tierney played right back for

:09:07.:09:11.

Scotland against Slovenia in the recent World Cup qualifier and will

:09:12.:09:15.

likely do so again against England. A really strong match, even though

:09:16.:09:19.

he was out of position, showing again the quality he has. That

:09:20.:09:30.

looked a foul to me. It looked as though Chris Evans was pushed in the

:09:31.:09:37.

back -- as though Griffiths was pushed in the back. Brendan Rodgers

:09:38.:09:43.

and his assistant asking questions of the fourth official.

:09:44.:09:58.

Kieran Tierney has gone down. He's got a bleeding mouth. Here we go.

:09:59.:10:09.

Stockley has been done for this plenty this season. Three red cards,

:10:10.:10:12.

they've all been for that kind of offence. He definitely swings his

:10:13.:10:18.

elbow towards Kieran Tierney's mouth. He has got previous. He came

:10:19.:10:29.

on against Rangers at Ibrox and was booked for it, a couple of minutes

:10:30.:10:33.

later was booked again, sent off. Aberdeen can't be doing with that

:10:34.:10:37.

today. They can be doing with more of this, this is Jonny Hayes' goal.

:10:38.:10:43.

Aberdeen drew everybody in the pitch, and then he ghosted and the

:10:44.:10:47.

Celtic goal then, an incredible strike really from Armstrong.

:10:48.:10:59.

Jonny Hayes part of the Republic of Ireland squad these days under

:11:00.:11:05.

Martin O'Neill. He was the last Celtic manager to win the treble.

:11:06.:11:17.

He's got a bust lip. Trip to the dentist, I think, personal on

:11:18.:11:26.

Monday. Looks like it. He's still in a bit of discomfort. Jayden Stockley

:11:27.:11:30.

needs to watch that. 100%. He is known for it. I think he does

:11:31.:11:38.

actually mean to do that. That's really, really poor from Stockley.

:11:39.:11:47.

Well, he's got away with it. It's the kind of thing Derek McInnes I'm

:11:48.:11:53.

sure would have warned him not to partake in it when he named his

:11:54.:12:00.

starting XI. You can have a physical presence, be a target man, without

:12:01.:12:05.

that. You don't have to be throwing elbows, making fouls all the time.

:12:06.:12:09.

You can be physically strong and use your body without being nasty.

:12:10.:12:20.

Brendan Rodgers is asking whether or not he can continue. I don't know

:12:21.:12:29.

whether it's gone damage as well as teeth. Well, I'm looking at the

:12:30.:12:46.

bench. Cristian Gamboa is a right back. If he does have to go off it's

:12:47.:12:54.

an incredibly disappointing way to go out of the Scottish Cup final.

:12:55.:13:00.

Kieran Tierney and Scott Brown both come out. They are the two Celtic

:13:01.:13:06.

players who race for the warm up in T-shirts. He's made of hard stuff,

:13:07.:13:14.

Kieran Tierney. That was a fair bank to the face he took. -- bang to the

:13:15.:13:26.

face. They are having a discussion, Derek McInnes and Scott Brown. Shay

:13:27.:13:37.

Logan is also getting involved. It's a good job for Jayden Stockley that

:13:38.:13:42.

Bobby Madden hasn't seen that. Kieran Tierney can't continue.

:13:43.:13:48.

Massive blow for Celtic, that. He's been superb this season. They are

:13:49.:13:55.

going to bring on Tom Rockett -- Tom Rogic. What a disappointment for the

:13:56.:14:02.

young man. To go out of a final like that because of an elbow to the

:14:03.:14:10.

face. You imagine Celtic will maybe change formation. Tom Rogic has got

:14:11.:14:20.

a very, very decent record against Aberdeen. He scored the winner at

:14:21.:14:27.

Pittodrie in their first meeting between the two this season. Scored

:14:28.:14:30.

in the previous one at Parkhead, scored in the League Cup final here.

:14:31.:14:35.

Set up a second and played his part in the penalty that led to the

:14:36.:14:39.

third. He has been a thorn in the side of Aberdeen. It's not a great

:14:40.:14:47.

site for the Celtic fans and Kieran Tierney is pointing an accusing

:14:48.:14:52.

finger at Jason Stockley -- Jayden Stockley, you can understand why.

:14:53.:14:56.

Stockley is very fortunate he is not off.

:14:57.:15:10.

Is it a straight red if the referee spots it? Because of the force of

:15:11.:15:21.

impact it could possibly been a red. We play on then. Three minute

:15:22.:15:27.

stoppage there as brown heads clear. Is -- Brown. Expect Stockley to be

:15:28.:15:33.

roundly booed for the remained other this game. Considine slices one

:15:34.:15:41.

away. Got a hat-trick earlier this season, his 30th birthday. Tierney

:15:42.:15:44.

was up the tunnel to be patched up but he will not play any part today.

:15:45.:15:50.

McLean almost taking Gordon, who was sloppy that time.

:15:51.:15:55.

That is something that Celtic have improved op and Gordon playing from

:15:56.:15:58.

the back. If Aberdeen are to go high, they can win it back and they

:15:59.:16:04.

need to be careful Celtic. He had no choice to become better,

:16:05.:16:10.

he was dropped for De Vries who is the sub goalie today. Brendan

:16:11.:16:13.

Rodgers worked with that keeper at Swansea City. When he signed said he

:16:14.:16:20.

was as important to him, perhaps second best signing out with Suarez.

:16:21.:16:25.

Immense character, to fight his way back into the team, and to improve.

:16:26.:16:34.

Sinclair is going to get there first, Jack's challenge taking it

:16:35.:16:35.

back in to his own half. Lustig. When you slice it up, break

:16:36.:16:57.

it down, it is bad for Tierney on a personal level but it is bad for the

:16:58.:17:00.

Celtic team because he is such a weapon and so good at the back which

:17:01.:17:05.

we had already spoken about. He is. It gives them so much going forward.

:17:06.:17:11.

His defending against Jonny Hayes was superb. It is is a big miss for

:17:12.:17:16.

Celtic. I really feel for him. Brown is

:17:17.:17:22.

going to get it back here... To Logan.

:17:23.:17:27.

Relatively comfortable save for Gordon, though he was lucky there

:17:28.:17:34.

was nobody in red, Jacks! They have tested the Celtic keeper twice in

:17:35.:17:39.

the last couple of seconds. Almost a couple of widesical saves for Craig

:17:40.:17:42.

Gordon. Beating both away out of the box. Decent hits.

:17:43.:17:49.

He doesn't score many Ryan Jack. He scored his first if two years this

:17:50.:17:51.

season. He has managed a couple. We will get you an update on

:17:52.:18:15.

Tierney's condition in interval. 16 minutes to the break. Hayes opening

:18:16.:18:21.

the scoring for Aberdeen. Less than two minutes later, Celtic were level

:18:22.:18:23.

through Armstrong. Celtic have lost their rhythm since

:18:24.:18:38.

Kieran Tierney went off. A corner by the way. It is a corner. Yes,

:18:39.:18:43.

Aberdeen have been pressing them high. It is their second. They

:18:44.:18:49.

scored from their first. The sun is coming out. Derek McInnes

:18:50.:19:05.

discarding his jacket. It wouldn't be Scottish Cup Final day without

:19:06.:19:12.

the sun. Half an hour in. Hayes to take.

:19:13.:19:24.

It must be so frustrating when you get a corner you are getting set and

:19:25.:19:29.

you hear the whistle for a push. Stockley spinning round the back. It

:19:30.:19:33.

looked as though he was going to header it, and it was McLean

:19:34.:19:37.

involved in a tussle that ended up in a free kick.

:19:38.:19:51.

A little disjointed from Celtic now. They haven't always performed to

:19:52.:19:58.

their best this season, a lot of single goal victories among all the

:19:59.:20:04.

Mullerings they were real particularly handing out.

:20:05.:20:10.

The referee not happy with how close Griffiths was to Lewis. Had to come

:20:11.:20:16.

off the Celtic striker there. It has been an afternoon of frustration for

:20:17.:20:20.

Celtic, other than the goal. Yes, you saw that with the long ball from

:20:21.:20:24.

Boyata. I don't think Griffiths has done too much wrong. He turned his

:20:25.:20:29.

back on it. Boyata playing a long ball. You don't often see Celtic

:20:30.:20:33.

missing out their midfield, before that, he punted a long one and ran

:20:34.:20:37.

through to Joe Lewis, they are unsettled.

:20:38.:20:44.

Jonny Hayes scoring Aberdeen's first goel in a Scottish Cup Final at

:20:45.:20:56.

Hampden since Billy stark in 1986. Lustig feels that Jonny Hayes took a

:20:57.:21:01.

dive. It was good play from Hayes knocking it past him. It is not a

:21:02.:21:16.

lot of contact. Is Taylor up for it? Stockley,

:21:17.:21:28.

Considine there. It is an important intervention from Simunovic. Is it

:21:29.:21:32.

at the expense of another Aberdeen corn sne It is a very important

:21:33.:21:37.

intervention, if not Taylor was on the end of this. He does well to put

:21:38.:21:44.

it bah bahst for the corner. Put it back. Aberdeen aon the corner

:21:45.:21:48.

count. Three to one. McGinn. Stockley. And Craig Gordon

:21:49.:22:04.

was there. Either side and Aberdeen could potentially have been 2-1 up

:22:05.:22:08.

there. That is why Derek McInnes has got him in the side, because of his

:22:09.:22:12.

aerial presence, he is making it felt.

:22:13.:22:17.

A decent ball into a good area. He does well to peel off his marker,

:22:18.:22:21.

but can't get any direction on the header.

:22:22.:22:24.

Aberdeen are getting under Celtic's skin.

:22:25.:22:27.

That is them had three or four efforts in goal. There is no doubt

:22:28.:22:30.

that Aberdeen have been the better side so o in this half. Causing

:22:31.:22:36.

Celtic a lot of problem o Celtic not getting into their usual fluid style

:22:37.:22:39.

of play. Simunovic coming forward. He was

:22:40.:22:43.

heavily involved in Celtic's first goal in the League Cup Final here in

:22:44.:22:45.

November. McGinn for Aberdeen.

:22:46.:23:59.

Stockley. Jack is onside here. Taking an eternity to arrive at his

:24:00.:24:05.

feet. Logan. Wray from Boyata. Oyez.

:24:06.:24:15.

McLean. Left by Simunovic.

:24:16.:24:20.

Knew what he was, knew where the goal was, ten to half-time. Won one.

:24:21.:24:27.

This is as uncomfortable I have seen Celtic this season. They are making

:24:28.:24:32.

mistake, they are disjointed. Aberdeen can be very pleased with

:24:33.:24:33.

their work so far. Sob often this Celtic team, when

:24:34.:24:54.

they haven't been at their best and just when the opponents think they

:24:55.:24:58.

are getting somewhere, up they pop, just before half-time, and it

:24:59.:25:02.

completely changes the complexion. There is a warning shot, Liam, that

:25:03.:25:06.

didn't look as if it was much trouble. All of a sud season

:25:07.:25:11.

Griffith is through in behind the back four, he couldn't gather it to

:25:12.:25:12.

get his shot away. Derek McInnes was happy with the way

:25:13.:25:46.

Aberdeen played for 79 minute against Celtic a few week back. They

:25:47.:25:53.

roughed Celtic up and feasibly, could have got something out of it.

:25:54.:25:57.

Denied a penalty when Shinnie was taken out by Gordon. Stockley missed

:25:58.:26:02.

a brilliant opportunity to bring it back to 3-2 in the first half and

:26:03.:26:06.

they just adopted the same tactics and it was working that night for

:26:07.:26:10.

big spells of that match. Why would you change it? You wouldn't. What

:26:11.:26:14.

Aberdeen are doing very well are harassing Celtic, closing them down.

:26:15.:26:20.

Here they go. That is a throw in only. Bounces off

:26:21.:26:26.

the flag. Tracking back from Hayes, superb. Celtic when they have the

:26:27.:26:32.

ball in defence don't seem to have as many options as they usually do.

:26:33.:26:37.

They usually have four, five six options for the passer. Boyata when

:26:38.:26:41.

he has had the ball has looked up and gone sideways or played long and

:26:42.:26:45.

Celtic don't seem to be able to get on the ball. In key areas as easily

:26:46.:26:52.

as they do. That is down to Aberdeen's organisation.

:26:53.:26:59.

We have a corner here. Twice this season, Boyata has scored from this

:27:00.:27:04.

kind of situation. Against Aberdeen. Last time it was a Griffiths's

:27:05.:27:09.

corner. McLean. There is Armstrong.

:27:10.:27:15.

I think Kenny took a knock as he Claired it. He is going to be all

:27:16.:27:16.

right. right.

:27:17.:27:25.

-- cleared it. Armstrong in the form he is in, he gets it wrong.

:27:26.:27:34.

Domestically this season, Celtic have scored in every single match.

:27:35.:27:41.

They have scored the opening goal in all but four domestic games coming

:27:42.:27:44.

into today. That fifth time they have been behind or lost the first

:27:45.:27:49.

goal in season. They were behind to Kilmarnock, won 6-1. Behind to

:27:50.:28:00.

Rangers, won 2-1. Behind to St Mirren in this very competition, won

:28:01.:28:06.

4-1. They seem to find they way. The one that sticks in mind the one at

:28:07.:28:08.

Motherwell. Extraordinary second half. The brilliant from Ches

:28:09.:28:12.

Brendan Rodgers tactically, way he changed it round to win the game.

:28:13.:28:17.

Burr this is, as I said, it is uncomfortable as I have seen Celtic

:28:18.:28:24.

all season. Is A long way to go. Cellino they

:28:25.:28:30.

can click in to gear at any point. This is Armstrong.

:28:31.:28:41.

Again Boyata, no options in front of him. Coming back. Sinclair against

:28:42.:29:06.

Reynolds. Five minutes to half-time. You can see the frustration, there

:29:07.:29:32.

five options. five options.

:29:33.:29:35.

-- normally he has four or five options.

:29:36.:29:45.

There is a fine line between sitting in and doing what Aberdeen are doing

:29:46.:29:49.

at the moment and being able to do it for 90 minutes.

:29:50.:29:58.

They've both had the threat of their own at the other end. The game,

:29:59.:30:04.

Griffiths couldn't quite get enough on the cross. It should have been

:30:05.:30:08.

more along the six yard line. It's too close to Joe Lewis. An easy save

:30:09.:30:15.

in the end. That looked a foul to me. The referee doesn't think so.

:30:16.:30:21.

Joe Lewis has been using Kenny McLean as without ball for kicks.

:30:22.:30:33.

That's a clear foul. They are going to be team-mates pretty soon, Brown

:30:34.:30:43.

and McLean in the Scotland squad. Well defended by Taylor. Telling his

:30:44.:30:54.

team-mates to calm down. Derek McInnes celebrated four years in

:30:55.:30:58.

post on the 25th of March. Three full seasons before this one. This

:30:59.:31:08.

season he collected 76 points. Before that they were averaging

:31:09.:31:12.

about 40. Sometimes less than that. It shows you the job he has done. A

:31:13.:31:31.

foul one Armstrong. Scott Armstrong is getting frustrated in this match,

:31:32.:31:34.

he can't get on the ball as he normally does.

:31:35.:31:54.

Very intriguing William Hill Scottish Cup final, this. I think a

:31:55.:32:04.

lot of people thought it would have been a foregone conclusion. It

:32:05.:32:09.

certainly hasn't been that way. Celtic haven't had it all their own

:32:10.:32:12.

way. I think Aberdeen have had the better of this opening half. Was

:32:13.:32:23.

Armstrong fouled, he was, says Bobby Madden. Suddenly Celtic have a free

:32:24.:32:30.

kick and very handsome territory. Shinnie clips his ankles as he runs

:32:31.:32:34.

past him. This is a dangerous situation. It's going to be five

:32:35.:32:41.

minutes of injury time in. Of course, Kieran Tierney's injury

:32:42.:32:51.

resulting in that. Here Celtic, after facing a dog-eared Aberdeen up

:32:52.:32:55.

till this point, have been presented with a chance to go in front for the

:32:56.:33:06.

first time in the final -- dogged Aberdeen. The Aberdeen supporters

:33:07.:33:12.

hold their collective breath. It's over. He certainly struck it well.

:33:13.:33:21.

He's gone for power and catches it very cleanly. It turns past the

:33:22.:33:28.

goalkeeper's post. It's a wonderful strike and Italy just turns up the

:33:29.:33:34.

last minute. He's got a pretty decent record against Aberdeen,

:33:35.:33:40.

Leigh Griffiths. Knock them out in the semifinals when he was at

:33:41.:33:48.

Hebburn yen in 2012. -- who Bernie and -- Hibs. Derek McInnes will be

:33:49.:33:57.

the happier of the two managers. I think the players can take a lot of

:33:58.:34:06.

belief from this first half. Kenny McLean has played that role superbly

:34:07.:34:10.

in this first half. From the kick outs of Joe Lewis. It's been 13

:34:11.:34:22.

years since the team that scored first lost the Scottish Cup final.

:34:23.:34:28.

Dunfermline in 2004 against Celtic in what was Henrik Larsson's last

:34:29.:34:34.

game for the club. Since then, every team that's gone in front has lifted

:34:35.:34:40.

the silverware. Aberdeen have a corner. On the same side from which

:34:41.:34:45.

they scored the opening goal of this final. Stockley and Taylor have gone

:34:46.:35:00.

to the back post for this one. In from McGinn. It's over from McLean.

:35:01.:35:05.

Who, going by his reaction, feels he should have done better. Again, he

:35:06.:35:10.

gets the better of Brown. He'll feel he should have got that on target.

:35:11.:35:17.

Rewarded for a superb season for Aberdeen, particularly in the second

:35:18.:35:22.

half. Do you feel the Scotland call-up is long overdue? Absolutely,

:35:23.:35:27.

he's been superb for Aberdeen this season. Absent Mirren he was

:35:28.:35:34.

inconsistent. -- at St Mirren he was inconsistent. I think at Aberdeen

:35:35.:35:39.

he's found a consistency, he brings A-level of performance on a weekly

:35:40.:35:42.

basis which I think is what has got him into the Scotland squad. That

:35:43.:35:51.

Jonny Hayes goal just the second Celtic have conceded in cup

:35:52.:35:53.

competition domestically this season. What a pass. Yeah. That's

:35:54.:36:06.

Hayes. Stockley is there! It's another corner. We are into double

:36:07.:36:10.

figures in the corner count against Celtic, last time out. A

:36:11.:36:16.

conventional ball down the line from Hayes. Wonderful defending by Boyata

:36:17.:36:20.

who reacts to get a last-ditch tackle in an Stockley. Aberdeen have

:36:21.:36:29.

shone a spotlight on their opponents. In from Hayes. McLean

:36:30.:36:39.

jumped a little too early there. It's cleared by Boyata.

:36:40.:36:59.

A couple of minutes of injury time remaining. Great play by Roberts. I

:37:00.:37:10.

think what's really impressive about Aberdeen's performance in this first

:37:11.:37:15.

half is that Celtic's key players, Roberts who has been in sensational

:37:16.:37:20.

form, Sinclair, the Player of the Year, Griffiths, have all been kept

:37:21.:37:22.

very quiet. Derek McInnes will be desperate to

:37:23.:37:56.

get his team into the changing room, level at half-time. How often have

:37:57.:37:57.

we seen Celtic do this to opponents? Aberdeen just trying to see this

:37:58.:38:36.

out. Cleared by Logan, not decisive though. All hands to the pump for

:38:37.:38:43.

Aberdeen. It's Griffiths Paul! Scott Sinclair. Great bit of play from

:38:44.:38:53.

Celtic, one of the few times in the half, and this is a sensational ball

:38:54.:38:57.

in from Griffiths. You'd expect Scott Sinclair to have the net

:38:58.:39:05.

ripple. What an opportunity. His manager agrees with you. A big, big

:39:06.:39:11.

moment. It was the last kick of the first half. An intriguing Scottish

:39:12.:39:16.

Cup final. Hayes gave Aberdeen the lead, less than two minutes later

:39:17.:39:21.

Armstrong put the champions level. Half-time in the Scottish Cup final.

:39:22.:39:33.

If Celtic thought they were cruising to the treble, Aberdeen have stopped

:39:34.:39:37.

them in their stride in the first half. Aberdeen, what a finish by

:39:38.:39:49.

Hayes! Stuart Armstrong smashes Celtic back on track! Stockley...

:39:50.:40:05.

STUDIO: 50 minutes has flown by in the first half of this 27 William

:40:06.:40:09.

Hill Scottish Cup final. Let's get the half-time thoughts of Michael

:40:10.:40:13.

Stewart, Willie Miller and Alan Stubbs. He had his arms wrapped

:40:14.:40:19.

lovingly around the trophy just 12 months ago. Aberdeen have got this

:40:20.:40:23.

right, right from the start. They have, they've pressed onto Celtic,

:40:24.:40:29.

they've really made Celtic look unbalanced in their play. They've

:40:30.:40:35.

been on the back foot, they've made Gordon kick long, they've won the

:40:36.:40:41.

second balls. And this is probably the most uneasy we've seen Celtic

:40:42.:40:46.

all season. Aberdeen need to take a huge amount of credit for that.

:40:47.:40:52.

Until now, Derek has got his game plan spot-on. But, there's a big

:40:53.:40:58.

butt. No matter how well Aberdeen have done, Leigh Griffiths free kick

:40:59.:41:01.

wasn't far away and you would say Scott Sinclair probably should have

:41:02.:41:05.

scored and Celtic would have been in front. On balance of play, the

:41:06.:41:09.

happier manager has got to be Derek McInnes. Tactics perfect, taken on

:41:10.:41:17.

from the last game at the Pittodrie At half-time he'll be looking for

:41:18.:41:21.

more of the same. What does Brendan Rodgers do? They haven't been

:41:22.:41:25.

allowed to play because of the tactics they have employed. Not

:41:26.:41:31.

allowing Craig Gordon to spread the passes out. The two centre-backs are

:41:32.:41:35.

the two full-backs, and having to kick it long. They don't have anyone

:41:36.:41:39.

up there who can win the ball in the air. I think it's been Aberdeen's

:41:40.:41:44.

first. They've had a couple of strikes, a header as well that might

:41:45.:41:51.

have sneaked in. I think the happier manager has got to be Derek McInnes.

:41:52.:41:55.

It's been a great response from Aberdeen, Michael, to what happened

:41:56.:41:59.

or didn't happen in the League Cup final. At 100%. If Leigh Griffiths'

:42:00.:42:06.

free kick put them 2-1 down, but it didn't. Aberdeen are right in this

:42:07.:42:09.

game and they will be much the happier. The whole build-up is a

:42:10.:42:17.

real difficult task to compete with Celtic and potentially beat them.

:42:18.:42:21.

But Aberdeen have put a game plan in place in the first that shows they

:42:22.:42:26.

are capable of getting the victory. It's hats off to Derek McInnes and

:42:27.:42:29.

his players. The only question I've got is are they going to be able to

:42:30.:42:34.

do it for 90 minutes? A second goal could be vital. If they get a second

:42:35.:42:38.

goal it will lift the energy levels and they will have something to hold

:42:39.:42:45.

onto. If it's sticking at 1-1, or go to maintain those energy levels.

:42:46.:42:51.

It's a high-energy tactic to close Celtic down, not allowing them to

:42:52.:42:55.

play. And turning and getting back into your shape. Full credit to

:42:56.:42:59.

Aberdeen because they have set the tone in the first half. There have

:43:00.:43:03.

been lots of examples of Celtic being shaken out of their comfort

:43:04.:43:07.

zone. He is Patrick Roberts giving the ball away and descended with

:43:08.:43:12.

Aberdeen scoring. There's plenty of space around them, that's not a

:43:13.:43:21.

Celtic thing, to turn. Aberdeen win it, they then get the ball back

:43:22.:43:24.

down. This leads to the corner where they score the first goal. That's

:43:25.:43:29.

all because of Aberdeen shaking them out of their rhythm. It's a

:43:30.:43:32.

wonderful ball in the back, Leigh Griffiths drops his run and Jonny

:43:33.:43:38.

Hayes gets the goal. It's a good finish, but that all comes from

:43:39.:43:43.

Patrick Roberts being shaken, not showing the composure you would

:43:44.:43:46.

naturally associate with him, to take the ball down and get the ball

:43:47.:43:52.

past and playing. That is 100% Aberdeen's tactics working there. It

:43:53.:43:57.

was a bit of a switch from Celtic. I don't think by chance. It looked as

:43:58.:44:04.

though it was a worked on set piece when Jonny Hayes gets the

:44:05.:44:07.

opportunity. Leigh Griffiths definitely switches. Celtic get a

:44:08.:44:14.

great opportunity very quickly after. You see Ryan Jack playing in

:44:15.:44:21.

front of the back four. He had to maintain his position. Rather than

:44:22.:44:25.

getting sucked out of the ball. If he had maintained his position he

:44:26.:44:29.

would be able to shuffle across and stop Stuart Armstrong. In the back

:44:30.:44:32.

four, Logan and Taylor have got to get up on the ball quicker and stop

:44:33.:44:38.

that strike. Ryan Jack was holding his position, instead of getting

:44:39.:44:42.

dragged out, if he just shuffled across, the chance wouldn't have

:44:43.:44:45.

been there and they still would have been one up. At that moment you fear

:44:46.:44:49.

for Aberdeen. Celtic having equalised within two minutes.

:44:50.:44:57.

They have grew into the game again. You have an overload of waves of

:44:58.:45:04.

attack from Celtic. There wasn't. Aberdeen, there was a calmness about

:45:05.:45:09.

them. They have a belief, the game plan and you know, you could see

:45:10.:45:13.

what they wanted to do and what they were trying to put in practise and

:45:14.:45:21.

Celtic looked unruffled by it. They looked uncomfortable and flustered

:45:22.:45:27.

at times. It was from an Aberdeen point of view it was good the see.

:45:28.:45:32.

Flustered... You heard the coach there, saying it was potentially the

:45:33.:45:38.

most uncomfortable Celtic have been and Alan mentioned it. There is no

:45:39.:45:41.

question this is the most uncomfortable Celtic have been this

:45:42.:45:44.

season, I go back to the point. It is not down to Celtic playing poorly

:45:45.:45:49.

but down to Aberdeen implementing their tactics perfectly. And using

:45:50.:45:53.

the pressing game, which is what they have done from kick off. It has

:45:54.:45:59.

worked here. They have pushed, taken the chance, no doubt about them

:46:00.:46:04.

taking the chance, McLean pushed it up. Jonny Hayes as well is way up

:46:05.:46:09.

the park, you know, and even in the midfield areas, they have been

:46:10.:46:12.

hounding the ball, working very hard, they haven't given Celtic the

:46:13.:46:21.

opportunity. Three on three, he has to play the ball long. You would

:46:22.:46:25.

take that all day long, thumping the ball up the park from Gordon and you

:46:26.:46:30.

have got, you know, Considine, Taylor, Reynolds at the back.

:46:31.:46:35.

Sinclair or Robert, that is what you want from Aberdeen's perspective.

:46:36.:46:39.

Every time they have played Celtic, whenever they have gone to the

:46:40.:46:42.

player they have had their back to opposition goal. They have never

:46:43.:46:47.

been faced to go forward. From an Aberdeen point of view, they are

:46:48.:46:50.

happy to go in and press them tight ands for them away from the goal all

:46:51.:46:55.

the type. It has been good from Aberdeen. Celtic want to play a

:46:56.:46:59.

short sharp passing game. Go back to Aberdeen's goal which led, when

:47:00.:47:04.

Patrick Roberts got the ball. That is because psychologically it feels

:47:05.:47:06.

like he is under pressure there a guy up his backside when he gets the

:47:07.:47:10.

ball. You want Craig Gordon to be the one that is in control, free all

:47:11.:47:13.

the time and he is having to play it long. You can't allow players on the

:47:14.:47:17.

depence to step in and be on overload. Aberdeen have done it

:47:18.:47:22.

perfectly. Closing Celtic down and not giving them any time. You have

:47:23.:47:28.

been no to flash your elbow round Alan Stubbs. Was Stockley fortunate,

:47:29.:47:35.

was this deliberate? I think it's, if you look at his body movement

:47:36.:47:40.

just before impact. He turns and swivels. Whether he knows Kieran

:47:41.:47:50.

Tierney is that close to him, only he will know. I don't think it is an

:47:51.:47:55.

absolute deliberate elbow. I think he has turn and his elbow has caught

:47:56.:48:00.

him. If you have a Celtic fan you are saying it is sending off, if you

:48:01.:48:05.

are a Aberdeen fan you say it is not. It is in that area. He has a

:48:06.:48:12.

bit of a history Jayden Stockley, of using his elbows. On that occasion

:48:13.:48:16.

they are very close, it isn't one of these where it is high, it is almost

:48:17.:48:22.

his movement to turn into Tierney when he has caught him. To me it is

:48:23.:48:27.

borderline. The reef re-has a great vantage point. He doesn't see

:48:28.:48:30.

anything wrong. Neither does the rest of the official, you have to

:48:31.:48:35.

give the striker the benefit of the doubt. For some that will be a

:48:36.:48:42.

problem, but for Celtic you bring on Tom Rogic and shuttle McGregor

:48:43.:48:46.

further back. It is a loss for Celtic because Kieran Tierney is

:48:47.:48:51.

such an attacking threat down the left-hand side, McGregor is not

:48:52.:48:55.

naturally left-back. It's a big loss for Celtic. You get Tom Rogic on the

:48:56.:48:59.

park, the record he has got against Aberdeen, that will play in the

:49:00.:49:02.

minds of Brendan Rodgers making that substitution, knowing he has got a

:49:03.:49:05.

good record against Aberdeen. But losing Kieran Tierney is a massive

:49:06.:49:11.

blow nor Celtic. Shows on target is encouraging for Aberdeen. 4-2 with

:49:12.:49:17.

that late effort, here is a quick fire double from McGinn and Jack,

:49:18.:49:29.

forcing saves out of Craig Gordon. Aberdeen were overwhelms favourites

:49:30.:49:33.

in this stat. It was 4-0 before that, Celtic have had a couple of

:49:34.:49:37.

opportunity, this was a really good period for Aberdeen, you know, they

:49:38.:49:41.

really pinned Celtic back and they were defending at 18-yard line. That

:49:42.:49:46.

was the first corner they had put into the middle of the goal, which

:49:47.:49:52.

nearly resulted again in a goal. Goal. Anything that comes in from

:49:53.:49:57.

corners and free-kicks Aberdeen seem to be on the end of it. At half-time

:49:58.:50:01.

Brendan Rodgers has a big 15 minutes to turn this game round. You see the

:50:02.:50:07.

two strikes from McGinn, it is all because Aberdeen are on the front

:50:08.:50:14.

foot. Both of them. Niall McGinn not Jack McGinn. They are winning the

:50:15.:50:19.

ball, getting the strike off, rather than as we Spock about teams playing

:50:20.:50:23.

a containment and dropping off and allowing them to play. They are on

:50:24.:50:27.

the front foot. They are breaking it down and getting chances. We will

:50:28.:50:32.

let you know how Kieran Tierney is, he has gone to hospital so we will

:50:33.:50:37.

check on how he is later, we will get more information on that but a

:50:38.:50:40.

loss to this game. That is a real disappointment for a player who has

:50:41.:50:43.

been outstanding for Celtic this season. So is Scott Sinclair and I

:50:44.:50:49.

guess you had your money on him nailing this. It is a fantastic ball

:50:50.:50:55.

in. A real problem for a defender because it has real pace on it, you

:50:56.:50:58.

have no time to react, and what Scott is trying to do is trying to

:50:59.:51:04.

guide it. But as on impact he is Shriening back, that helped it lift

:51:05.:51:07.

over. But a fantastic ball. It is is a great ball. Taylor is a fortunate

:51:08.:51:12.

defender because he stretched his leg out. If he makes contact with

:51:13.:51:16.

that that bah it ends up in the back of net, no doubt. It goes by his

:51:17.:51:22.

foot. Falls to Sinclair. That is why it's a great ball. You can't leave

:51:23.:51:28.

it because you have striker who will tap it in. You have zero time to

:51:29.:51:34.

react with your neat, because it has been put in that quick, it is

:51:35.:51:38.

virtually, sometimes you look, you can say the defender should have

:51:39.:51:42.

been there, sometimes you have to go what a ball, that is one of them I

:51:43.:51:49.

think. We are uttering phrases about Celtic we haven't all season. We are

:51:50.:51:53.

seeing body language that tells you they are frustrated at the way the

:51:54.:51:57.

game is playing out. There is no question about it. If you are in a

:51:58.:52:02.

side who are used to finding the rhythm quickly, it has not happened

:52:03.:52:06.

today. There will be a level of us from traics, you saw Scott Brown and

:52:07.:52:10.

Derek McInnes having a few words when Jayden Stockley caught Kieran

:52:11.:52:14.

Tierney was his elbow. That gives you, an idea of what is going on,

:52:15.:52:19.

Celtic aren't happy, Brendan Rodgers has a massive 15 minutes to refocus

:52:20.:52:24.

Celtic, come up with another idea, another game plan how they will get

:52:25.:52:29.

past that initial press of Aberdeen and get the natural game going. It

:52:30.:52:32.

is an interest value Derek McInnes will give his players a good pat on

:52:33.:52:36.

the back with the emphasis on those words so far, because they have to

:52:37.:52:40.

maintain it. Absolutely. Everything has went to plan. You know, he has

:52:41.:52:44.

laid out that plan and these players have taken it out there on to the

:52:45.:52:49.

pitch. You know, they have sapped their strength. They will be asked

:52:50.:52:54.

for more in the second half. He will ask if they create a chance, two

:52:55.:52:58.

strikes from outside the box and a header from Stockley. Take the

:52:59.:53:02.

chances, the opportunity. They have Celtic rattled. Whether they can do

:53:03.:53:07.

that in the second half is the big question that has to be answered. It

:53:08.:53:09.

has to be answered by Brendan Rodgers, he has to do something to

:53:10.:53:12.

change the bah tern of this game, because if you are comparing the

:53:13.:53:18.

managers, then Derek McInnes has won the first half. Here is the story of

:53:19.:53:24.

the first 45, it ended up 50 minute, here at Hampden. Jonny Hayes

:53:25.:53:28.

sneaking in on the back of McGinn's corner kick. Partners in crime

:53:29.:53:34.

striking for the Dons, they weren't ahead for long and it was Stuart

:53:35.:53:40.

Armstrong on his left foot rifling the shot past Joe Lewis to have us

:53:41.:53:47.

level pegging half way through in this 2017 Scottish Cup Final at

:53:48.:53:52.

Hampden, and let us get back to the action, it has been pulsating so far

:53:53.:53:58.

and hopefully more of the same to come, 1-1 half way through, Stuart

:53:59.:54:03.

Armstrong cancelling out Jonny Hayes opening goal, back to the commentary

:54:04.:54:07.

with Steven Thompson and Liam MacLeod.

:54:08.:54:11.

Very interesting. This game of football.

:54:12.:54:19.

Showpiece final. Aberdeen, rejoin the party. It is the seventh time

:54:20.:54:24.

these two have met in the final of the Scottish Cup. Celtic won the

:54:25.:54:34.

first three, in 37, 54. Aberdeen have won the last three in 70, 84,

:54:35.:54:42.

in 1990. Aberdeen bossed this competition for a spell in the '80s,

:54:43.:54:45.

winning it three years in a row. They are the last club to do that,

:54:46.:54:50.

in each of those seasons they beat Celtic, once in the final, this is

:54:51.:54:55.

semis, beating Rangers in the two other finals.

:54:56.:55:05.

Who is lifting the Scottish Cup? A bit later than billed, because of

:55:06.:55:10.

the injury time, it is Aberdeen in the red, shooting towards their own

:55:11.:55:14.

fans in the west stand. Celtic likewise. Shooting east.

:55:15.:55:25.

Some news on Kieran Tierney, who you might have heard has gone to the

:55:26.:55:28.

hospital, we here he hasn't lost any teeth in that incident, in the first

:55:29.:55:35.

half. Gone through his top lip the challenge by Stockley. Aberdeen look

:55:36.:55:38.

to begin on the front foot. McGinn's ball.

:55:39.:55:49.

Brown. Here goes Rogic. Celtic were not finding the pockets

:55:50.:55:54.

of space, Steven, in that first half they were in the League Cup Final.

:55:55.:56:00.

No, and they have done all season. The question is, can Celtic be as

:56:01.:56:04.

poor as they were in the first half this second half? They are found a

:56:05.:56:08.

way all season to show a reaction when things haven't been going their

:56:09.:56:11.

way, they have always found their way, you know, as I said and the

:56:12.:56:16.

guys said in studio, I have not seen them as uncomfortable in a match as

:56:17.:56:20.

this. I haven't seen a team have as many efforts in goal. The goalkeeper

:56:21.:56:33.

has been busy. Jack.

:56:34.:56:42.

McLean. Lustig. These Celtic players know that history beckons.

:56:43.:56:52.

Hayes went early. Hayes went early.

:56:53.:56:58.

, a brilliant ball in from McLean, he has had a fine match so far, it

:56:59.:57:02.

is a dangerous area, Aberdeen working the space very well again.

:57:03.:57:08.

And I think Hayes might have strayed offside but brilliant from McLean.

:57:09.:57:18.

Armstrong. Unchallenged at the moment. Rogic, to Roberts.

:57:19.:57:25.

Halted by Considine. ? Jack sticking to his task They

:57:26.:57:44.

have been so energy tech this Aberdeen side.

:57:45.:57:52.

At times Celtic have looked pedestrian by comparison. It can be

:57:53.:57:57.

draining all that running round, a very humid day in Glasgow south

:57:58.:58:03.

side. Selwyn a free kick. Very useful area for Leigh Griffiths to

:58:04.:58:04.

swing this in on top. Here he goes.

:58:05.:58:30.

Too high for Lustig. A good area from Griffiths. In

:58:31.:58:35.

Lustig is just an inch or two above him at full stretch.

:58:36.:58:52.

Simunovic was unlucky. He mistimed his jump. If Jonny Hayes had been

:58:53.:59:01.

alert he would have been through on Craig Gordon's goal. Quite a turn

:59:02.:59:06.

round for Aberdeen in the cup competition, reaching the first time

:59:07.:59:13.

for both since 2000. Going out at the first Hurd in first last term.

:59:14.:59:20.

McLean, to McGinn. Boyata.

:59:21.:59:29.

Sinclair, he has popped it through to Griffiths who has Rogic and

:59:30.:59:33.

Sinclair out on the left. Griffiths goes himself. Had to get deflection

:59:34.:59:39.

and it is a corner. Wow the deflection that might have gone in.

:59:40.:59:43.

Griffiths movement, good. He drifts out wide and comes in on his left

:59:44.:59:50.

foot. He has one thing in his mind, can I get a shot off? And spins

:59:51.:59:53.

round for a corner. Better from Celtic.

:59:54.:59:58.

Is Third corner of the match. It did come off Boyata. The

:59:59.:00:20.

goalkeeper will defuse the situation. Now it is Jack, who is on

:00:21.:00:31.

his own. The Aberdeen fans screaming for a free kick there. Just a throw.

:00:32.:00:46.

BOOING. Jonny Hayes took a knock earlier on when he won that ball

:00:47.:00:52.

when Aberdeen were pressing high. Scott Brown actually catches him

:00:53.:00:57.

high up in his hamstring. Yes, he did. Swung in... Almost. Stockley,

:00:58.:01:09.

didn't gamble. It's all about the quality of the cross. It's an

:01:10.:01:13.

unbelievable cross into the box. Stockley tries to get across that

:01:14.:01:19.

front post and he's just too late. The quality of the ball in from

:01:20.:01:21.

Kenny McLean is sublime. Celtic were 4-1 on to win the Cup

:01:22.:01:46.

this afternoon. Made to work for it, though. Here

:01:47.:02:07.

goes Rogic... Sinclair is in hair. Joe Lewis matches in. A good stop

:02:08.:02:13.

from Lewis. The movement of Scott Sinclair in behind was brilliant. He

:02:14.:02:20.

timed his run perfectly. A decent touch. It's a good save from Joe

:02:21.:02:30.

Lewis. What a ball by Rogic. Lewis has been a real find for Aberdeen

:02:31.:02:35.

this season. Griffiths with the corner away by McLean. Celtic trying

:02:36.:02:44.

to pin Aberdeen back but they will have two... McGregor has lost out to

:02:45.:02:53.

Hayes. He's got McLean screaming for it in the middle! What a let off for

:02:54.:02:57.

Celtic and specifically for Callum McGregor. What a waste. It comes

:02:58.:03:03.

from Scott Brown's poor pass to McGregor. Brilliant pressing from

:03:04.:03:09.

Jonny Hayes. He plays it behind him and Kenny can't quite reach it. A

:03:10.:03:14.

massive opportunity. You know what they say about taking your chances

:03:15.:03:21.

against Celtic. No team has created as many opportunities against Celtic

:03:22.:03:27.

and Aberdeen this afternoon. There goes Rogic. It's a free kick to

:03:28.:03:35.

Celtic. It's a silly one from Logan, diving in. It's a clear free kick

:03:36.:03:40.

and a really, really dangerous position. I think Armstrong will

:03:41.:03:47.

fancy this one. I think he makes the right decision to square it to Kenny

:03:48.:03:52.

but he can't react. You won't get a better chance in a final than that.

:03:53.:03:58.

The reaction from the Aberdeen fans just about summed it up. Celtic are

:03:59.:04:06.

looking to rub some salt in the what is a fresh wound. Armstrong or

:04:07.:04:15.

Griffiths? It's Griffiths and it's deflected. I thought Armstrong would

:04:16.:04:24.

have fancied this. It breaks through the wall. Luckily for Aberdeen spins

:04:25.:04:33.

past the post. 5-5 in the corner count. Away by McLean.

:04:34.:04:45.

Aberdeen are at their posts. Logan took a gamble. Griffiths couldn't

:04:46.:05:02.

find a team-mate. Extra time and penalties, if required today.

:05:03.:05:09.

Incredible to think that the Scottish Cup final occasionally went

:05:10.:05:17.

to two or three replays. Sometimes three Scottish Cup finals. Before

:05:18.:05:26.

extra time was the choice. Only twice has the Scottish Cup final on

:05:27.:05:29.

penalties. Aberdeen beat Celtic the first time. It is too high for

:05:30.:05:44.

Stockley. Good play a game by Aberdeen. Ryan Jack has had a fine

:05:45.:05:52.

game. Putting that one into the box. Just evades Stockley.

:05:53.:06:41.

Celtic missed out on the most dominant season in Europe ever in a

:06:42.:06:48.

league campaign. Paris Saint Gibran's margin of victory over Lyon

:06:49.:06:55.

and Monaco last season stands. Celtic 30 points ahead of Aberdeen

:06:56.:06:57.

at close of play last week. Well played by Aberdeen. Good work

:06:58.:07:16.

by McLean. Bobby Madden allowing the advantage here. Very composed

:07:17.:07:25.

performance by Ryan Jack today in his final game for this hometown

:07:26.:07:31.

team. There was a lot of pressure on him coming into the game. He's had a

:07:32.:07:38.

fine match so far. Great challenge by Hayes on Brown. Brown gets it

:07:39.:07:48.

back. Roberts... I think it was an Kenny McLean. He just had a wee

:07:49.:07:56.

nibble at Roberts and he goes down. It's what you want to see. It is a

:07:57.:08:01.

cup final after all. High stakes. Callum McGregor breathing a sigh of

:08:02.:08:18.

relief if you minutes back. Aberdeen really should have re-established

:08:19.:08:21.

their lead in this final. Here comes Celtic with Roberts. That's what

:08:22.:08:29.

we've been saying of Roberts all season. Just couldn't find the angle

:08:30.:08:34.

on: Shot. I wonder how long it'll be before we

:08:35.:09:01.

see Dembele coming on. Tick the words out of my mouth, he is warming

:09:02.:09:08.

up at the moment. How good was that? Brilliant from Shinnie. BOOING.

:09:09.:09:25.

Everyone knew that Aberdeen needed to turn up and Sun today to stand

:09:26.:09:32.

just a chance of winning this final. It needs to be an almost perfect

:09:33.:09:35.

performance. They can't have any players playing under par. And they

:09:36.:09:40.

aren't. Roberts isn't getting their... The one thing that will

:09:41.:09:49.

annoy Derek McInnes is that they should be 2-1 up. Absolutely, but it

:09:50.:09:54.

will also give them hope. They created a number of chances in the

:09:55.:09:59.

first half, you wondered Celtic would come out with a better

:10:00.:10:02.

performance in the second. It's marginally better from Celtic but

:10:03.:10:05.

Aberdeen are still the better side for me. There he is, Adam Rooney.

:10:06.:10:10.

He's going to get the last half hour. He'll have been disappointed

:10:11.:10:20.

not to start the match. He's had a fine season in terms of

:10:21.:10:23.

goal-scoring. Stockley was an obvious choice for Derek McInnes as

:10:24.:10:27.

he wanted to play a more direct style of football. If Aberdeen get

:10:28.:10:30.

another decent chance and it falls to Rooney, you can be guaranteed

:10:31.:10:32.

he'll take it. Brilliant touch by Armstrong and

:10:33.:10:45.

maybe a yellow for Taylor. It is. He knew it was out of position. It was

:10:46.:10:55.

cynical. If you're going to do that, I suppose it's not the worst area.

:10:56.:10:57.

Here's Armstrong. He presented the ball to consider --

:10:58.:11:20.

Considine there. Beyond the hour mark at the National Stadium. Hayes

:11:21.:11:26.

and Armstrong exchanging goals in the space of a couple of minutes.

:11:27.:11:38.

That's where this game stands. Classy from Ryan Jack. A foul by

:11:39.:11:50.

Lustig on Shinnie. Stockley will come off and will be replaced by

:11:51.:11:56.

Adam Rooney, the first man since Joe Harper to score 20 or more goals in

:11:57.:12:00.

three successive seasons for Aberdeen. And a fabulous signing.

:12:01.:12:06.

He's been such a callous man for them. Derek McInnes feels it is time

:12:07.:12:21.

for his top scorer. I think that would always have been his plan. To

:12:22.:12:26.

bring an Rooney for the last half an hour.

:12:27.:12:39.

Celtic have seen more of the ball in the last five minutes or so.

:12:40.:12:52.

Armstrong is round Logan, Armstrong! Joe Lewis beats it away. Innovative

:12:53.:13:04.

play from Armstrong, he's right to take the shot on. A decent stop from

:13:05.:13:13.

Lewis. Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele has been Brendan Rodgers

:13:14.:13:20.

start players this season. It has been an improvement in some of those

:13:21.:13:27.

already there that has been so startling for Celtic this season,

:13:28.:13:30.

Stuart Armstrong is one of them. Scott Brown is another, although I

:13:31.:13:34.

think you'll be disappointed with his performance today. He has

:13:35.:13:37.

managed to get a grip of the game in the man and he normally does and

:13:38.:13:39.

dictate things. Roberts, swaying away from Reynolds.

:13:40.:14:06.

And again. He's unlucky! What a hit that was from Roberts. We know this

:14:07.:14:14.

is what he's capable of and loves to come on. I think Joe Lewis gets a

:14:15.:14:19.

fingertip on this. He touches only the post, that's a fantastic save.

:14:20.:14:30.

Just under 50,000 inside Hampden Park for this one. Griffiths takes

:14:31.:14:37.

the corner. Lustig! Two big, big chances for Celtic in quick

:14:38.:14:42.

succession. Joe Lewis does well to get a fingertip on it. He can't get

:14:43.:14:47.

a connection away. I think Joe Lewis has heard himself, maybe an awkward

:14:48.:14:55.

landing. He can't quite get enough on his shot to directed goal would,

:14:56.:15:07.

Lustig. Fantastic goalkeeping. He was almost ready for his trademark

:15:08.:15:10.

celebration, Brendan Rodgers. Not quite.

:15:11.:15:17.

We know Patrick Roberts has mash of brilliance in -- flashes of

:15:18.:15:30.

brilliance in him. He has been so good, Joe Lewis for Aberdeen this

:15:31.:15:39.

season. He really has. What is he thinking just now? I

:15:40.:15:44.

think he is really comfortable. I think he is pleased. He will be

:15:45.:15:48.

pleased his keeper is smiling. Hopefully he will think his

:15:49.:15:51.

goalkeeper is back on his feet now. That is good news for Aberdeen.

:15:52.:15:58.

Derek has been dids you, to do what no other team in Scotland has

:15:59.:16:02.

managed to do, and so far it has, whoed but they have to go Orr the

:16:03.:16:05.

final hurdle. You wonder if they will get another big chance in the

:16:06.:16:09.

match they have had several opportunities in the last ten

:16:10.:16:13.

minutes it has been Celtic who have had better of the opportunities. If

:16:14.:16:16.

Aberdeen get another one you feel they have to take it.

:16:17.:16:29.

Brown fouls Shinnie. That was a very cynical foul from

:16:30.:16:37.

Scott Brown. He knowship is past him. That is is a booking all day.

:16:38.:16:51.

I think the Aberdeen fans they saw Taylor get booked for a cynical

:16:52.:16:55.

foul. That was equally cynical and should have been a booking.

:16:56.:17:08.

About to go into the final quarter of this Will ham hill Scottish Cup

:17:09.:17:13.

Final. 1-1. Considine wins it. Taylor couldn't get there as the

:17:14.:17:18.

dark clouds roll in above here in Glasgow.

:17:19.:17:27.

The rain beginning to tumble down. Shinnie, cleverly away from Roberts.

:17:28.:17:33.

Well like Patrick Roberts Jonny Hayes is capable from there.

:17:34.:17:39.

Taylor took one in the ribs as the corner came in, he seems to be

:17:40.:17:43.

struggling. Hopefully for Aberdeen he is just winded and the rain is

:17:44.:17:45.

now torrential here at Hampden. Through the rain the Celtic

:17:46.:17:55.

supporters are doing what they have done all season, and celebrating the

:17:56.:18:02.

1967 team, in the 67th minute. 50 years on. From their finest moment.

:18:03.:18:12.

Well celebrated this week. Sinclair, he is away from two. And that from

:18:13.:18:19.

Griffiths is not the fitting tribute to the 67 side. No, initially really

:18:20.:18:24.

good play from Sinclair, cuts in to the box, he is trying to get his

:18:25.:18:27.

shot off, his can't. He finds Griffiths on the edge of the box and

:18:28.:18:31.

he is leaning back, it is always going over the bar after that. You

:18:32.:18:36.

wonder whether that will be his final involvement of any importance.

:18:37.:18:39.

I would expect to see Dembele very soon.

:18:40.:18:48.

Hayes goes down and it was a free kick. It was Simunovic.

:18:49.:18:56.

Yes, a clear foul. It is really rash from Simunovic, he is going nowhere,

:18:57.:19:00.

let him take his touch. Follow him into the corner try and make him put

:19:01.:19:04.

out for a throw in and depend him. It is stupid. It gives Aberdeen the

:19:05.:19:08.

opportunity to put the ball into the Celtic box. Aberdeen have won a

:19:09.:19:12.

number of headers here in this box. Hayes and McGinn. Conspire. McLean

:19:13.:19:29.

does get a touch but it is going nowhere.

:19:30.:19:35.

This time, he makes a decent run, but it is a terrible angle for him.

:19:36.:19:41.

He might have been better served to scoop it with his right foot a her

:19:42.:19:47.

than his left. A difficult chance. Only smudges in the Celtic copy book

:19:48.:19:52.

four draws in the Premiership. Here is Rogic who has beaten

:19:53.:19:56.

Reynolds to it. And now it is Roberts. Griffs and

:19:57.:20:00.

Sinclair waiting in the middle and Taylor gets there.

:20:01.:20:05.

Top class defending from Taylor. Initially Rogic does well to hold it

:20:06.:20:09.

up up. If you are going to stand it to the back post make sure it gets

:20:10.:20:12.

to the back post but brilliant defending from Taylor.

:20:13.:20:27.

A free header for Boyata! Boyata! Celtic are creating the better

:20:28.:20:37.

opportunities in the last 10, 15 minute, good delivery. He really

:20:38.:20:41.

must score. That goings down as a big, big miss. You have to hit the

:20:42.:20:43.

target as Leith. target as Leith.

:20:44.:20:47.

-- at least. Dedryck Boyata scored twice against

:20:48.:20:57.

Aberdeen this season from headers. Missing out as Rooney gives chase.

:20:58.:21:00.

Gordon is there. Guarding the back.

:21:01.:21:06.

O'Connor is coming on in a moment for Aberdeen.

:21:07.:21:12.

Seems as though McGinn is the player who is going to come off.

:21:13.:21:17.

Just in behind Armstrong but he has done well to regain it. With 19 to

:21:18.:21:23.

play. Celtic 1, Aberdeen 1. Sinclair. Not

:21:24.:21:30.

happening for him today. As yet. Someone is going to have to have the

:21:31.:21:36.

final say. Rooney misunderstanding and there is

:21:37.:21:40.

not many of them between Adam Rooney and Jonny Hayes. Yes, he thinks

:21:41.:21:45.

Hayes is going to meet the diagonal run but he stayed central.

:21:46.:22:08.

If it is McGinn who is coming off for Aberdeen, it will be the end of

:22:09.:22:16.

his Aberdeen career by the looks of thing, unless he has a change of

:22:17.:22:22.

heart. Brown to Roberts.

:22:23.:22:26.

It is Patrick Roberts, well done there from Graeme Shinnie.

:22:27.:22:32.

So difficult for a defender when Patrick Roberts is coming at them.

:22:33.:22:36.

Jack, for Rooney, who is in a great position. Sizing the goal up ahead

:22:37.:22:40.

of him. It was closed down by McGregor.

:22:41.:22:47.

Should Rooney have done it quicker? Yes, a great break from Aberdeen.

:22:48.:22:51.

First touch has it bad, second touch he hesitates and it gives McGregor

:22:52.:22:55.

the chance to come back and make a fantastic sliding challenge. But

:22:56.:23:00.

yes, that is where he misses that pace in the final third to take the

:23:01.:23:06.

touch out and get the shot off. McGinn who scored that memorable

:23:07.:23:12.

goal for Northern Ireland in Lyon, against Ukraine at the European

:23:13.:23:15.

Championship finals last year. He will take the corner.

:23:16.:23:22.

Taken away from Rooney by Lustig. This has gone straight to Shinnie.

:23:23.:23:31.

He couldn't resist the shot and why not? That opened up for Graeme

:23:32.:23:38.

Shinnie, he takes a brilliant first touch and dives forward. We have

:23:39.:23:41.

seen him score from that range before. Craig Gordon has a decent

:23:42.:23:46.

save to tip it around the post. Celtic were heavy favourites coming

:23:47.:23:49.

intoy this, but now you feel it could go either way. -- into.

:23:50.:23:59.

McGinn takes again. It has broken out for Roberts but he

:24:00.:24:02.

can't find a team-mate this is Griffiths.

:24:03.:24:10.

Shinnie. Cut down by Roberts. Derek McInnes is kicking every ball down

:24:11.:24:19.

there. It looks like Niall McGinn's

:24:20.:24:23.

Aberdeen career will end prematurely. And what a contribution

:24:24.:24:29.

he has made to that club, since Craig Brown signed him almost five

:24:30.:24:36.

years ago. Former Celtic man. And he comes off having served Aberdeen

:24:37.:24:40.

with distinction, with goals, with assist s and it looks as though his

:24:41.:24:45.

time is up. O'Connor comes on, similar change to the one Derek

:24:46.:24:50.

McInnes made in the semi against Hibs when he took Christie off and

:24:51.:24:55.

replaced him with O'Connor. We are into the final 15 here. Hayes take,

:24:56.:25:07.

too close to Gordon, and it is. It was too floaty the Paul. A very

:25:08.:25:13.

easy take for Craig Gordon. He has taken off an attacking player and

:25:14.:25:17.

brought on a defensive minded player, maybe with the idea that

:25:18.:25:23.

Celtic have come in more attacking. Striking a balance isn't it.

:25:24.:25:30.

It is balance they have struck, decent fashion. In the 75 minutes

:25:31.:25:35.

that have comen and gone, in this Scottish Cup Final.

:25:36.:25:40.

Scott Brown. To Armstrong, to Rogic.

:25:41.:25:46.

O'Connor's first act is to try and stick to Tom Rogic. He loses out to

:25:47.:25:51.

Jack. Aberdeen are getting joy down that far side. That is where they're

:25:52.:25:55.

two big opportunities really in this second half have come. Kths" injured

:25:56.:26:01.

in the first half -- Kieran Tierney injured in the first half.

:26:02.:26:09.

Hayes. Gordon holds on. Could have been awkward given the conditions.

:26:10.:26:19.

Taylor is delighted the ball pop out to him otherwise Sinclair is away.

:26:20.:26:29.

Griffithings might be away here. It is on his right side at the moment.

:26:30.:26:35.

Great save. Sinclair. That was a fabulous save. Not for

:26:36.:26:39.

the first time this afternoon. Griffiths again.

:26:40.:26:46.

Oh, you can hear the screams Downes on the pitch, of frustration. Lustig

:26:47.:26:52.

made this overlap and run on the you side S it had at shot on goal. It's

:26:53.:26:58.

a good strike from Griffiths and a brilliant one handed save.

:26:59.:27:05.

Sensational save. He has a few of them. Joe Lewis, Aberdeen last

:27:06.:27:13.

season felt the departure of Danny Ward back to Liverpool after his

:27:14.:27:22.

lone spell. Spell. He loan spell, he was summoned by Jurgen Klopp.

:27:23.:27:26.

Aberdeen had Scott Brown in goal. They felt that Ward was the better

:27:27.:27:30.

option, lost Adam Rooney towards the end of the season as well. That

:27:31.:27:35.

didn't help matters as they tried to pull Diyala's Celtic for the title.

:27:36.:27:43.

-- Delia's Celtic for the title. More the minutes take away, the more

:27:44.:27:57.

the nerves jangle. The thicker the tension and we are down to about 12

:27:58.:28:05.

minutes. You are playing in a Cup Final.

:28:06.:28:09.

There is 12 minutes left. It is all square, how do you feel? Feel? I

:28:10.:28:18.

think you are just trying to remain focussed and that is one thing

:28:19.:28:22.

Aberdeen have been the whole of this match. Focussed.

:28:23.:28:27.

Getting to point where anything that happens is dramatic t as we saw a

:28:28.:28:32.

year ago. Aberdeen have put so much into the game and they will be

:28:33.:28:36.

feeling tired now, but sometimes when you are tired your

:28:37.:28:39.

concentration levels can drop. It is very important that you keep the

:28:40.:28:44.

concentration levels up as Celtic push to get this goal. Look at

:28:45.:28:48.

Considine sticking to Roberts where ever he goes. Shea Logan was doing

:28:49.:28:59.

that earlier this season. McGregor, to Roberts. Away it goes. Celtic

:29:00.:29:04.

have Aberdeen pinned back against the ropes here.

:29:05.:29:12.

Rogic. Looking for the knock out blow.

:29:13.:29:19.

Griffiths did so well there. It is is a good ball for inClaire. And

:29:20.:29:24.

another chance comes and goes. For the Player of the Year. Scott

:29:25.:29:30.

Sinclair has missed two sitters, one right at the end of the first half

:29:31.:29:36.

and that one there, it is as if it gets stuck under his foot as he goes

:29:37.:29:42.

to volley init to the net. Both teams have missed gilt-edged

:29:43.:29:46.

opportunities in the second half. That could have been the cup. That

:29:47.:29:51.

could have been the treble for Scott Sinclair.

:29:52.:30:01.

Aberdeen are sitting a bit deep in the Derek McInnes' comfort. I always

:30:02.:30:13.

feel if you sit in, you invite Celtic with their quality, then

:30:14.:30:20.

eventually break you down. Jack reacts. Rooney makes it stick. Now

:30:21.:30:28.

it's Shinnie. Bundled over, was he? No, says Bobby Madden. He's happy

:30:29.:30:36.

with that. Logan blocks from Rogic. Aberdeen survive. Shinnie is loose

:30:37.:30:53.

with the past. Making a wrong decision again, fatigue coming in

:30:54.:30:57.

again. They had a good counter on with at least three or four players.

:30:58.:31:05.

Wrong decisions. Less than ten to play. It's Roberts' ball.

:31:06.:31:21.

It's Leigh Griffiths! Its wide. Its good play by Leigh Griffiths again.

:31:22.:31:36.

He hasn't quite got his eye in, as yet. That was a great ball in for

:31:37.:31:42.

Sinclair, who will feel he should... He absolutely should have. It just

:31:43.:31:47.

gets caught under his foot. With his technique you expect him just a

:31:48.:31:52.

slide that passed Joe Lewis. Scott Sinclair is playing his 50th game of

:31:53.:31:59.

the season today. Craig Gordon in goal, 54. Despite his missing a few

:32:00.:32:05.

matches in the autumn, he has more appearances this season than any of

:32:06.:32:07.

the other Celtic players. Aberdeen are beginning to encourage

:32:08.:32:24.

Celtic onto them and that might not be the best ploy, if indeed it is a

:32:25.:32:28.

ploy. They put so much into this, it's been a sweat soaked shift for

:32:29.:32:37.

Aberdeen. I think it's fatigue. They've given so much. McGregor has

:32:38.:32:43.

pulled it back for Roberts! Corner only. Celtic are turning the screw.

:32:44.:32:49.

Aberdeen are defending well. They threw their bodies on the line.

:32:50.:32:54.

These last ten minutes have been difficult for them. Celtic fans will

:32:55.:33:04.

try and suck the ball in to the net here. Just over seven left, plus

:33:05.:33:09.

stoppages. at the stage now where a goal could

:33:10.:33:29.

win you the Cup. Away by Rooney. Hayes waiting for a team-mate to

:33:30.:33:33.

help him out. Might have been better to just get rid of it. Foul by

:33:34.:33:39.

Logan, Celtic free kick. They will continue to knock on the Aberdeen

:33:40.:33:46.

doors. He's received that ball. He's expending so much energy he chose

:33:47.:33:50.

not to do anything and allowed Celtic to win the ball back. The

:33:51.:34:01.

momentum shifted with Celtic now. You do not want to be losing cup

:34:02.:34:06.

finals, at this stage. Winning them, it would be so dramatic. A chance

:34:07.:34:16.

again for Celtic. It's Lustig. Aberdeen can't get out here. Way off

:34:17.:34:32.

target. That was another big opportunity the Lustig. I don't know

:34:33.:34:36.

what he did with his header. You think he's going to knock this down

:34:37.:34:39.

into the ground, it's almost as if it ends up being behind him. He

:34:40.:34:44.

misjudges the header and it's another really, really big chance.

:34:45.:34:48.

There's been a lot of big chances in this final. They are all coming

:34:49.:34:55.

Celtic's way. Jonny Hayes is struggling. Aberdeen can ill afford

:34:56.:35:01.

to lose their talismans. Reynolds reads it. A respite for the Aberdeen

:35:02.:35:19.

defence here. Not for long. There's Rogic. He steps away from Reynolds.

:35:20.:35:26.

He's backtracking. The referee lets it go. Final five minutes of the

:35:27.:35:33.

William Hill Scottish Cup final, all square, Hayes Aberdeen, Armstrong

:35:34.:35:38.

equalised less than two minutes later. We'll wait to find out what

:35:39.:35:48.

the final chapters will yield. Stormy conditions above.

:35:49.:36:10.

the possibility to be bit relaxed, there is

:36:11.:36:15.

There will be concern on the Aberdeen bench for the way this

:36:16.:36:31.

final is going. Brendan Rodgers encouraging his team on. It's

:36:32.:36:38.

Roberts away by Reynolds. Celtic are in total control. Have Aberdeen run

:36:39.:36:50.

out of gas right at the death? Patrick Roberts. Derek McInnes is

:36:51.:37:02.

down on the touchline demanding his players get higher up the pitch. He

:37:03.:37:04.

knows they are inviting Celtic on. Logan putting pressure on Armstrong.

:37:05.:37:34.

This is hard work for Aberdeen right now. He's an side, Griffiths.

:37:35.:37:45.

Tormenting Reynolds. Away by Jack. Excellent play by Griffiths. I feel

:37:46.:37:49.

Patrick Roberts should have gambled earlier to make his way into the

:37:50.:37:53.

box. You know from that angle it's going to be a cutback cross.

:37:54.:38:04.

It's Roberts! Aberdeen are swimming against the tide here. It's

:38:05.:38:11.

threatening to swamp them. Two minutes of the 90 to play.

:38:12.:38:30.

Aberdeen might be happy with extra time despite the fact it's been

:38:31.:38:34.

energy draining, it's been energy sapping on them. Hayes is tired

:38:35.:38:43.

looking there. Tom rocket ship. -- Tom Rogic. It's Sinclair! Great

:38:44.:38:52.

interplay again from Celtic. Some of their passing in this last 20

:38:53.:38:56.

minutes has been excellent. Sinclair again couldn't find the angle for

:38:57.:39:04.

his shot. Can you stand it? Can you stand it.

:39:05.:39:18.

The final minute, plus whatever Bobby Madden wants to add on at the

:39:19.:39:29.

end. Celtic have won all but four domestic games this season. They

:39:30.:39:32.

still picked up points in the other ones. The only reason they didn't

:39:33.:39:37.

win at least two of those was because of an inspired goal keeping

:39:38.:39:52.

performance. They've been imperious, Aberdeen, trying to keep them at

:39:53.:39:56.

arms length but it's getting harder and harder with every passing minute

:39:57.:40:01.

for the Dons. Celtic collect a corner right at the end of the 90

:40:02.:40:05.

minutes. Its exceptional running from Leigh Griffiths. It was a long

:40:06.:40:09.

ball from the goalkeeper. To have that energy in the last minute of

:40:10.:40:13.

the game, to go and win the corner for your team was superb. Three

:40:14.:40:18.

minutes of injury time to play. Celtic click to collect their third

:40:19.:40:22.

honour of the season. Griffiths takes it. Lewis... He's been fouled

:40:23.:40:29.

which takes the pressure right off Aberdeen, who are here to spoil what

:40:30.:40:34.

many felt would be a Celtic party. It might still be but Aberdeen had

:40:35.:40:40.

stepped up to the plate today. Derek McInnes will be desperate for the

:40:41.:40:44.

final whistle so he can regroup with his players for a couple of minutes,

:40:45.:40:50.

get some fluids in. And just get a respite from what has been an

:40:51.:40:54.

onslaught for the last 15 minutes. The red Army behind Craig Gordon's

:40:55.:41:01.

goal doing their best to roll Aberdeen on. To at least extra time.

:41:02.:41:12.

Considine. We haven't had extra time in the Scottish Cup final since

:41:13.:41:16.

2006. Looked like we were getting it last year. Is there to be a late

:41:17.:41:21.

winner this time around? Here is Rogic, two to play. It's Tom Rogic!

:41:22.:41:34.

CHEERING Celtic get the treble and it's about

:41:35.:41:40.

to be duly delivered in the most spectacular and dramatic fashion!

:41:41.:41:48.

Tom Rogic does it again. The Aberdeen players half broken, they

:41:49.:41:54.

are on their knees, they've put so much into this game. It looks like

:41:55.:41:58.

it would take a moment of brilliance from a player to win it for Celtic.

:41:59.:42:02.

This was certainly brilliant from Rogic. Albeit a bit easy for me.

:42:03.:42:13.

Tired, tired legs. Joe Lewis has kept him out all match. He couldn't

:42:14.:42:23.

stop this one. It is Tom Roderick's fourth goal against Aberdeen this

:42:24.:42:28.

season. He keeps doing it, as does that man -- Tom Rogic. Celtic have

:42:29.:42:38.

only managed to win three troubles in their entire history. -- trebles.

:42:39.:42:51.

The impact Brendan Rodgers is right up there. The Aberdeen supporters

:42:52.:42:57.

know it is done now, surely. What a way to do it, what a way to end the

:42:58.:43:05.

season of their dreams. For 70 minutes they gave absolutely

:43:06.:43:10.

everything they had to this game. They were exhausted come the last

:43:11.:43:16.

ten, 15 minutes there. You felt there was an inevitability about

:43:17.:43:20.

Celtic's goal coming. Joe Lewis had kept them out with a string of

:43:21.:43:25.

exceptional saves. In the end, the pressure was too much. Scott Wright

:43:26.:43:32.

on fat Aberdeen, Sviatchenko on for Celtic. Do Aberdeen have anything

:43:33.:43:42.

left? An extra minutes of added time because of the celebrations that

:43:43.:43:46.

understandably greeted that Rogic goal. Taylor wins the header and

:43:47.:43:52.

Gordon holds an! Free kick to Celtic. Taylor wins it well and

:43:53.:44:02.

Rooney is an inch away from getting an equaliser.

:44:03.:44:15.

It's all but done for the Dons, who put so much into this final. They

:44:16.:44:27.

will get credit for it. That will be no crumb of comfort for Derek

:44:28.:44:35.

McInnes 's side. Celtic are standing on the shoulder of Giants! CHEERING

:44:36.:44:41.

The season of their dreams. Ends in the most dramatic style. Brendan

:44:42.:44:49.

Rodgers is a treble winning Celtic manager. The league, the League Cup

:44:50.:44:57.

and now the Scottish Cup, as clean a sweep as you can get. Not a single

:44:58.:45:01.

defeat in any of those competitions, and Brendan Rodgers ensures

:45:02.:45:13.

immortality status at Celtic. Rogic wins the day, Rogic wins the Cup. It

:45:14.:45:21.

is Rogic who scripts tomorrow morning's headlines. At the end of a

:45:22.:45:25.

week that has celebrated the greatest team in Celtic's history,

:45:26.:45:30.

the current wearers of the green and white hoops will now rightly take

:45:31.:45:33.

their place among the legendary figures at Parkhead.

:45:34.:45:39.

Aberdeen didn't have quite enough today. But then no-one has had

:45:40.:45:45.

enough all subpoena to match Celtic domestically.

:45:46.:45:53.

A stunning campaign. And Tom Rogic pops up, with yet another goal

:45:54.:45:59.

against Aberdeen. McLean and his team-mates put so much into this

:46:00.:46:07.

one. A heartbreaking finale for Aberdeen.

:46:08.:46:12.

Who will go through a big summer, a summer of change that they haven't

:46:13.:46:17.

experienced in recent times. Adam Rooney who didn't start today, will

:46:18.:46:25.

wonder what might have been. We dehear from one of the Celtic heroes

:46:26.:46:29.

now, the man who equalised o the day. Stuart Armstrong is with Chris

:46:30.:46:36.

McLoughlin. Can you quite believe it We had belief. I the you saw in the

:46:37.:46:41.

second half we grew in confidence in our passing, and we created chance

:46:42.:46:44.

after chance, I thought, as the game went on we were going to get one,

:46:45.:46:49.

and Tom has done magnificent for the goal. I thought we got what we

:46:50.:46:54.

deserved at the end. Did you think at times it was going to be one

:46:55.:47:00.

those days? Maybe, maybe it is not going to be your day but we kept

:47:01.:47:05.

going and you know, let that sink in we have managed to do it.

:47:06.:47:08.

Congratulations, enjoy your night. Thank you.

:47:09.:47:17.

Just the 47 domestic matches unbeaten for Brendan Rodgers, and

:47:18.:47:24.

his team, a number of 47 means only the fourth treble in Celtic history.

:47:25.:47:29.

A couple for Jock Stein. One for Martin O'Neill featuring Alan Stubbs

:47:30.:47:33.

with us in the studio and now one for Brendan Rodgers. What a

:47:34.:47:41.

performance, all season long, but what a painful moment for Aberdeen,

:47:42.:47:46.

deep into stoppage time. A couple of minutes added when Tom Rogic scored

:47:47.:47:51.

his fourth of the campaign, against the Dons, to give Celtic the

:47:52.:47:57.

Scottish Cup. Yes Yes for one moment it looked like it was going to go

:47:58.:48:01.

into extra time. Celtic were a different team in the second half.

:48:02.:48:05.

They looked everybody though I don't think they have played as, they have

:48:06.:48:10.

played better, but the second half performance was more like them, you

:48:11.:48:14.

know e and as the game was going on, they were started to -- starting to

:48:15.:48:19.

create a lot of chances, and Aberdeen couldn't get out at all.

:48:20.:48:22.

They just couldn't keep the ball long enough to give themselves a

:48:23.:48:26.

breather. Those are emotional scenes. Aberdeen can take a lot of

:48:27.:48:33.

pride from their performance, we will maybe get to Will will in a

:48:34.:48:37.

moment on the Aberdeen angle on this. This. It is all about

:48:38.:48:43.

celebration for Celtic. Tom Rogic, before you join the celebrations,

:48:44.:48:47.

sum up your emotions as that ball hit the back of the net. It is hard

:48:48.:48:52.

to put into words. What a dream moment. We have been working so hard

:48:53.:48:58.

this season, we knew what was at stake, we knew what it meant to the

:48:59.:49:04.

fans. Sum up what it means to be treble winning invincibles. It is

:49:05.:49:08.

unbelievable. People think these couple competitions are easier than

:49:09.:49:13.

they are, but, to go through the whole season unbeaten domestically

:49:14.:49:17.

shows the quality we have and how around we have been working we

:49:18.:49:20.

deserve nothing less. Party time? Exactly. Congratulations. We reflect

:49:21.:49:29.

on both sides of the store I. It is jubilation, delight, a moment of

:49:30.:49:34.

history for Celtic and they will rightly lap it all up, but mixed in

:49:35.:49:39.

along the way those pictures of Aberdeen players in tears. I think

:49:40.:49:44.

so, congratulations Celtic, it has been a magnificent season, and

:49:45.:49:48.

towards the end of the game, that was a real Celtic, wasn't it, they

:49:49.:49:53.

were too much for Aberdeen. The players in the red jerseys can be

:49:54.:49:56.

proud of their performance. Performance. I think the manager can

:49:57.:50:00.

be very proud. Tactics, and the first half in particular worked a

:50:01.:50:04.

treat. Second half, not so well. They had opportunities in the first

:50:05.:50:08.

half, but so did Celtic in the second half. Just on half-time,

:50:09.:50:13.

second half, plenty of tonnes. Let us hear from the Celtic captain

:50:14.:50:16.

Scott Brown. Congratulations, congratulations I am sure that is a

:50:17.:50:20.

career high for you. This is exceptional. For this season to go

:50:21.:50:24.

all the way through the league, without getting defeated and to win

:50:25.:50:27.

two trophies and to clear up the treble. The best feeling we could

:50:28.:50:32.

experience. Can you sum up how you felt when that ball hit the back of

:50:33.:50:35.

the net? Relief. I never thought it was going to come. Air gave us a

:50:36.:50:40.

great game. They have been outstanding, they got to two Cup

:50:41.:50:43.

Finals and chases news the league. League. Fair play, we knew our

:50:44.:50:48.

fitness levels would kick in and we scored a goal and it was a great bit

:50:49.:50:52.

of play by Tom Rogic again. Talk to me about your pride standing here

:50:53.:50:57.

taking the adulation of the fans. This is the best feeling ever. You

:50:58.:51:01.

couldn't expect anything better. It is a huge fact every one of these

:51:02.:51:05.

behind the dressing room, the staff, that has worked hard all through the

:51:06.:51:09.

season s what we dedicated all there the season is phenomenal.

:51:10.:51:15.

Congratulations. Cheers. It has been compelling viewing, all

:51:16.:51:19.

way through all 98, 99 minutes of it. Michael Stewart's Celtic have a

:51:20.:51:24.

habit of finding a way to win. Fitness levels, you know, he spoke

:51:25.:51:29.

about that last week, that the difference from last season to this

:51:30.:51:33.

season is fitness levels, and so many occasions this season they have

:51:34.:51:36.

ground the team out, playing good football, but they are able to

:51:37.:51:40.

maintain that intensity, you saw Aberdeen putting everything into the

:51:41.:51:43.

first half but they couldn't maintain that intensity in the

:51:44.:51:48.

second half. You know, the story is, a treble for Celtic, unbelievable

:51:49.:51:53.

achievement, undefeated, all the credit has to go to Celtic, and in

:51:54.:51:58.

this game and this season, obviously we will look at the dynamics of the

:51:59.:52:03.

game and how things bore out and Celtic won it. Aberdeen played a big

:52:04.:52:08.

part in it. All the credit has to go to Celtic for an unbelievable

:52:09.:52:12.

season. The worry Alan Stubbs for everyone else is that Celtic are

:52:13.:52:15.

going to get better. I think that is guaranteed. It is a worry but if you

:52:16.:52:19.

look at the managers it is a great challenge. It is an incentive: It

:52:20.:52:25.

has to be. Celtic have been way ahead of anybody this year and you

:52:26.:52:30.

know, they deserve a lot of credit, they will get all the adulations.

:52:31.:52:35.

Glt that is Patrick Roberts of course with Kieran Tierney's shirt

:52:36.:52:38.

on as a tribute to his pal of course who was taken away to hospital after

:52:39.:52:43.

that painful looking bang in mouth he got. Every Celtic player, a hero

:52:44.:52:50.

here today. Yes. Echeverria though Celtic have won it, Aberdeen have

:52:51.:52:54.

showed today they can put up with a challenge. They have caused Celtic

:52:55.:53:00.

today what no-one else has done this season. You know, they have really

:53:01.:53:05.

questioned them. And it has been, they have had to dig deep. Look at

:53:06.:53:11.

that emotion spilling out. Second prides again for Aberdeen. Yes, they

:53:12.:53:16.

have been here recently, losing the League Cup Final, as they did under

:53:17.:53:22.

Willie Milner the early 0s Aberdeen runs up in all three competitions,

:53:23.:53:28.

this campaign. But the job that Derek McInnes has done, has been

:53:29.:53:31.

nothing short of remarkable. I make no mistake they put it up to Celtic

:53:32.:53:37.

today. They have been left heartbroken.

:53:38.:53:41.

Ryan Jack has played his last game for the club. He is off. There are

:53:42.:53:46.

reports he might end up at Ibrox, keep an eye on that one. Celtic will

:53:47.:53:52.

get their moment very soon. Peter Pawlett is off to MK Dons, he didn't

:53:53.:54:00.

play a part today. Niall McGinn was in tear, he is off is certainly the

:54:01.:54:05.

indication. So it will be a big rebuilding job for Derek McInnes,

:54:06.:54:10.

whereas this Celtic side will get stronger. They will aim for the

:54:11.:54:21.

Champions League. They grew inthat campaign this year and Derek McInnes

:54:22.:54:26.

will hope to sign the right players over the summer there, they have an

:54:27.:54:30.

interest in the former Celtic man Shaun Maloney, and that is the kind

:54:31.:54:33.

of player you feel Aberdeen will have to bring in, if they are going

:54:34.:54:38.

to give Celtic a go again next season. Scott Brown, a decade a

:54:39.:54:44.

Celtic player. You can see what it means to him. Too powerful to be

:54:45.:54:54.

defeated or overcome and that that has certainly be the case, yes they

:54:55.:55:01.

lost some games in Europe. Lisbon Lions here to watch on, of

:55:02.:55:04.

course. They have all be in and around the

:55:05.:55:09.

club recently. The 50th anniversary of that famous triumph, likes of

:55:10.:55:12.

Willie Wallace, John Clark you saw there.

:55:13.:55:20.

And the great Billy McNeill. Scott Brown, he begins one off the finest

:55:21.:55:31.

walks in football. What a season it has been from the heat of Gibraltar,

:55:32.:55:40.

and the defeat to Lincoln Red Imps others could have melted in the

:55:41.:55:47.

temperature, resulted in the scale of the tabloids. Brendan Rodgers was

:55:48.:55:52.

icily cool. Scott Brown is about to get his hands on the Scottish Cup

:55:53.:55:57.

again. It will be the 37th Scottish Cup

:55:58.:56:09.

victory for Celtic Football Club. The Invincibles. The treble. It is

:56:10.:56:15.

Celtic's Scottish Cup again. The seventh time than Celtic have

:56:16.:56:37.

won the Scottish Cup since the turn of the century. They have just won

:56:38.:56:45.

their 48th league title, their sixth on the bounce, they're shooting at

:56:46.:56:50.

ten in a row by 2021, then there will be a special cheer for the man

:56:51.:56:59.

who delivered the treble. They beat their own previous record of 32

:57:00.:57:09.

league game unbeaten, having gone through the entire season without

:57:10.:57:13.

loss, scored 106 goal, that beat their old record. The best points

:57:14.:57:17.

return of 106 and the biggest points margin at the top of the

:57:18.:57:21.

Premiership. I think everyone has to take their

:57:22.:57:26.

hat off to what Celtic have achieved under Brendan Rodgers, let's hear

:57:27.:57:29.

from Patrick Roberts, who is with Chris. It is the final piece of the

:57:30.:57:34.

jigsaw, one of your team-mates say it is relief, does it feel that way.

:57:35.:57:39.

It been a long old season and we had objectives and today we can say we

:57:40.:57:52.

completed them all. So... Kfrgets It is good to see Kieran Tierney back.

:57:53.:57:58.

Talk me through how close you have become? He is a good mate. No matter

:57:59.:58:04.

where I am. Kieran is a great lad and great player. An incredible way

:58:05.:58:08.

for you to say your goodbyes. I mean, to win the treble, it was an

:58:09.:58:18.

amazing occasion and I am happy. Go and see your friends. Great to see

:58:19.:58:26.

Kieran Tierney made it back from hospital to get his hands on the

:58:27.:58:30.

trophy. He looks rather dazed after that altercation with Jayden

:58:31.:58:33.

Stockley's elbow in the first half, but he is back to be part of the

:58:34.:58:38.

party. And what party it is going to be. What a transformation in the

:58:39.:58:46.

team. Celtic were champions last season, but the team has been

:58:47.:58:52.

reinvigorated, revitalised, reassembled by Brendan Rodgers and

:58:53.:58:56.

his team have done this treble in style. It is a special moment, you

:58:57.:59:00.

know, you only have to look at hour many teams have done it, to tell you

:59:01.:59:06.

how difficult it is. No matter who, what people say, it is an incredible

:59:07.:59:11.

feat they have done, and he has had a remarkable effect, not just on the

:59:12.:59:16.

pitch but off it as well. You know, he has really took club in a

:59:17.:59:20.

completely different direction and his main aim now he has done this,

:59:21.:59:26.

Italy be Europe necks season and to try and establish Celtic, among you

:59:27.:59:31.

know, some of the greats in Europe. In the real world, people have a bad

:59:32.:59:34.

day at the office, Celtic don't seem to have that. They don't. They had a

:59:35.:59:41.

good day, a good second half. Aberdeen had a very good first half.

:59:42.:59:45.

We got an excellent game of football this afternoon. Most people coming

:59:46.:59:49.

outside the Aberdeen supporters thought it would be one way traffic

:59:50.:59:54.

and it would be easy for Celtic. They are a magnificent team, Brendan

:59:55.:59:58.

Rodgers has made a huge difference, turned them into a team of real

:59:59.:00:03.

quality. I thought Aberdeen played their part today. They certainly

:00:04.:00:09.

turned up. They had a magnificent occasion but Celtic worthy winners

:00:10.:00:11.

this afternoon. The greatest condiment you can pay

:00:12.:00:18.

to Aberdeen is that they pushed Celtic to the brink. Definitely.

:00:19.:00:24.

Talking about moving forward next season and relation to that,

:00:25.:00:28.

Aberdeen have shown, for me, the way you've got to play against this

:00:29.:00:33.

team. It's difficult, it's tough, but the only way you're going to

:00:34.:00:36.

actually get a victory or push Celtic is if you front up to them.

:00:37.:00:41.

If you sit back they will beat you down. They show that in the second

:00:42.:00:47.

half. Aberdeen, inevitably at times they got dropped further and further

:00:48.:00:53.

back, and Celtic picked them off. It is difficult to criticise Derek

:00:54.:00:55.

McInnes today but I don't understand why he picked Jayden Stockley. He

:00:56.:01:05.

wasn't central to that tactic. He could have been the guide to fire

:01:06.:01:08.

the ball further up the Park and allow them to get out. Adam Rooney

:01:09.:01:14.

isn't that type of player as it happened and Aberdeen were

:01:15.:01:16.

entrenched at the back and they couldn't get out. I don't know why

:01:17.:01:21.

he picked Jayden Stockley when he could have potentially brought him

:01:22.:01:29.

on. It is a fantastic achievement. It is an example of how you should

:01:30.:01:37.

try to tackle Celtic. Maybe they should try and take that on board

:01:38.:01:41.

for next season. The problem is, Celtic will go up to another level.

:01:42.:01:54.

That's the problem, the other teams can't catch that up as quick. With

:01:55.:02:00.

Celtic, you look to press and the better teams will be able to do it

:02:01.:02:04.

to a certain extent. The ones who aren't as good will get cut open.

:02:05.:02:11.

Lets sample the atmosphere as the Celtic fans celebrate the treble.

:02:12.:02:20.

# With hope in your heart # And you'll never walk alone

:02:21.:03:02.

# You'll never walk alone # CHEERING

:03:03.:03:17.

APPLAUSE We mentioned it more than once in

:03:18.:03:21.

the course of the programme, Celtic have done this with impeccable

:03:22.:03:26.

timing. The 50th anniversary, 50 years and a couple of days since the

:03:27.:03:30.

Lisbon Lions pulled off that football fairy tale in the Europe

:03:31.:03:36.

cup final against Inter Milan. What a fitting tribute this achievement

:03:37.:03:44.

of Celtic this season is and what they did all those decades ago. It's

:03:45.:03:53.

a fabulous occasion... We are going to hear from Brendan Rodgers now.

:03:54.:03:59.

Very well done and a huge congratulations. Can you sum up your

:04:00.:04:06.

emotions? There are so many emotions going through my mind. But I thought

:04:07.:04:10.

we deserved it in the end, it was a very tough game as you would expect.

:04:11.:04:16.

The first half was a bit nervy. We'll give credit to Aberdeen. I

:04:17.:04:24.

said at half-time to stay calm. Eventually, the space opened up. We

:04:25.:04:28.

kept moving the ball and moving quickly. Players can start to Tyre

:04:29.:04:34.

and I think that's what happened as the second half wore on. I'm

:04:35.:04:37.

disappointed we didn't score more goals. An incredible way to win a

:04:38.:04:45.

cup final, right at the end. I'm really happy for the players and

:04:46.:04:54.

supporters. All sorts of records broken today. You said you had

:04:55.:05:02.

targets, how many did you take off? We ticked off six of those. We

:05:03.:05:11.

wanted to ensure the impetus with the players continued. Listen, it's

:05:12.:05:17.

been a dream. For any manager, coming in at the beginning of the

:05:18.:05:20.

season, you couldn't write down what we've done. I said to the players,

:05:21.:05:25.

before they went out, this is a game where you want them to write about

:05:26.:05:30.

it afterwards but you have to make history, it doesn't just happen. The

:05:31.:05:34.

players went out and did that and I thought in the second half in

:05:35.:05:39.

particular they were brilliant. The club has fallen in love with you and

:05:40.:05:42.

I get the feeling you've fallen in love with the club. No, I was born

:05:43.:05:49.

into Celtic. There's been no grown, there is only pride for me. It's a

:05:50.:05:53.

huge privilege to manage Celtic. I was born into Celtic, into a Celtic

:05:54.:05:59.

family, I always wanted to manage Celtic. To come here now was the

:06:00.:06:04.

right time for everyone, myself, the club. We've created an identity that

:06:05.:06:08.

hopefully allows us to build on this and improve over the coming years.

:06:09.:06:12.

To achieve what we did this year, it a spectacular achievement. It's

:06:13.:06:18.

surreal, really. You've been so focused for so long. Will you allow

:06:19.:06:23.

yourself to wind down and relax? I need a rest. It's been so intense

:06:24.:06:33.

since the middle of June. We've all put in. Now we need to get away and

:06:34.:06:39.

have a breather. Six weeks' time as the Champions League qualifier so

:06:40.:06:42.

we'll look forward to that. Congratulations again. It's been the

:06:43.:06:50.

dream season for Scott Brown, Brendan Rodgers, all the Celtic

:06:51.:06:56.

players, management, supporters. It couldn't have gone better for them

:06:57.:07:03.

and may you're feeling a bit of exhaustion there about Brendan

:07:04.:07:06.

Rodgers, and all he's poured into the campaign. And only realises he

:07:07.:07:12.

will continue to pour in next season. He'll have do. This is a

:07:13.:07:17.

fabulous day for him, the club and the players. They know that the

:07:18.:07:21.

demands will be back on them to do it again next season, and everyone

:07:22.:07:25.

will be expecting them to do it next season. He's set the bar so high.

:07:26.:07:34.

Absolutely, he'll need that rest. He won't get too long before it's June

:07:35.:07:37.

again and then he'll start thinking about next season and the challenge

:07:38.:07:44.

that lays ahead. Let's hear from Leigh Griffiths. This is the stuff

:07:45.:07:51.

that dreams are made of, isn't it? Yes, of course. I've been dreaming

:07:52.:08:00.

of this all season. It's a fitting tribute to the way we've played all

:08:01.:08:04.

season. The pressure has been immense knee for so long, is there a

:08:05.:08:09.

sense of relief now? We can handle pressure. If you can't handle

:08:10.:08:12.

pressure there is no point being hair. We've proved today how well we

:08:13.:08:19.

can cope with that. I imagine there will be a big party now. Yes. I can

:08:20.:08:27.

imagine a few boys will be up for days. I'm one of them! We do it for

:08:28.:08:32.

the fans. They come in their numbers every single week. They don't stop

:08:33.:08:41.

backing us. Enjoy your celebrations. If there's a big party going on you

:08:42.:08:45.

can count on Leigh Griffiths being a big part that. The summer is going

:08:46.:08:52.

to be interesting, in terms of what Celtic do next, who they might lose

:08:53.:08:56.

and who they might bring in. There will be a lot of interested clubs

:08:57.:08:59.

looking at players like Kieran Tierney. Yes, whenever you're

:09:00.:09:05.

successful, there's always prying eyes. Especially, you look at the

:09:06.:09:09.

quality that Celtic have got in the team now. There will be clubs in

:09:10.:09:14.

England looking at getting him. When you are winning things it is easier

:09:15.:09:19.

to keep those players. Brendan is talking about having a rest but the

:09:20.:09:22.

plans he's already put in place for next season will be going on in the

:09:23.:09:26.

background. He'll have the recruitment people, they will

:09:27.:09:29.

already be working hard. This is their time of the year to produce.

:09:30.:09:34.

Brendan would have identified who he wants, and that will take care of

:09:35.:09:39.

itself. He'll have a couple of weeks and then it's back again. Managers

:09:40.:09:43.

don't give themselves much time, maybe a couple of days knowing him.

:09:44.:09:49.

These plans, as Alan says, they don't kick off now, they've been in

:09:50.:09:53.

place for months about what Celtic do next. Absolutely. You don't

:09:54.:09:58.

really get a break if you are a manager in football. Maybe a couple

:09:59.:10:03.

of weeks of to think about things other than football. Even then, it

:10:04.:10:10.

creeps back in. Brendan Rodgers isn't any different. The good thing

:10:11.:10:13.

from a Celtic point of view is the players respect the manager. It will

:10:14.:10:21.

be up to Celtic whether they want to release these players are not. I

:10:22.:10:25.

think he's got the trust of all the players. They talk so highly about

:10:26.:10:32.

him. They might get offers they can't refuse. Not only that. If you

:10:33.:10:37.

want to keep Brendan Rodgers, you can't go down the route of selling

:10:38.:10:41.

his best players. For example Kieran Tierney, big club down Saab are

:10:42.:10:45.

looking at him. Kieran Tierney won't be in any rush to leave. He is

:10:46.:10:50.

working with a manager who is top drawer. What if they get offered ?30

:10:51.:10:57.

million? What I would say if I was Celtic, are they going to offer me

:10:58.:11:01.

30 million next year? Yes they will. Brendan Rodgers is a huge attraction

:11:02.:11:06.

for these guys to remain at Celtic. Celtic are moving forward, they are

:11:07.:11:11.

going places. You might be happy with settling in the Champions

:11:12.:11:15.

League group stages, they want to get out of it and progress. As a

:11:16.:11:18.

footballer you want to progress all the time. Working with a manager

:11:19.:11:22.

like that, that is what you are doing. Do you think Scott Sinclair

:11:23.:11:26.

regrets coming to Celtic? It's the best decision he's probably made in

:11:27.:11:31.

his career. You see the bond between the manager, coaching staff and

:11:32.:11:38.

players. I think there was a lot of suspicion about Brendan Rodgers, but

:11:39.:11:42.

when he signed a four-year contract that was a signal of intent. The

:11:43.:11:47.

biggest thing for Celtic moving forward is Brendan is calling the

:11:48.:11:52.

shots. The way he is now and how strong his position is, if he

:11:53.:11:57.

doesn't want someone to leave, it should only be on his say-so. It

:11:58.:12:02.

will be Brendan who sanctions anyone leaving. He'll only do it if he

:12:03.:12:12.

knows he's got a replacement. 100%. It is someone who they are going to

:12:13.:12:16.

try and develop again, the way they have done. They've done a fantastic

:12:17.:12:23.

job with Tierney. He will go one day, hopefully not seem. You can

:12:24.:12:29.

see, he's comfortable with everything here. He's playing great

:12:30.:12:34.

football. He's still got to learn but he's fantastic. He's still only

:12:35.:12:43.

19. Champions League is the stage on which Brendan Rodgers will look to

:12:44.:12:47.

Celtic to develop. He'll want to win everything domestically next season

:12:48.:12:52.

but Celtic will be graded and regarded further afield on what they

:12:53.:12:59.

achieve in Europe. How far you can take this club in Europe will be the

:13:00.:13:04.

big question, how far this man Brendan Rodgers can turn around the

:13:05.:13:11.

quality that he's got domestically to the higher level of the quality

:13:12.:13:15.

that is expected in Europe. That's a big question for him. It's a huge

:13:16.:13:18.

challenge and I'm sure he's relishing it. He does, 100%. He is

:13:19.:13:28.

looking at ways to unlock that Celtic team. He's doing the same at

:13:29.:13:33.

European level. The games against Man City, he went toe went toe to

:13:34.:13:36.

toe and showed a lot of English clubs had to go up and play against

:13:37.:13:41.

them. He will relish the chance to go and pit his wits against the top

:13:42.:13:49.

teams in Europe. Of course he's going to concentrate on his bread

:13:50.:13:52.

and butter in Scotland but you heard in his interview, he wants to

:13:53.:13:56.

continue to progress in the Champions League. If that means they

:13:57.:14:00.

may be don't win the treble next year, but progress further in the

:14:01.:14:07.

Champions League, he will still view that as progression. There has

:14:08.:14:10.

clearly been progression and a Brendan Rodgers but there is also

:14:11.:14:13.

clearly a part way to continue that. Brendan Rodgers and Celtic are the

:14:14.:14:21.

Invincibles. 47 domestic matches unbeaten, it's the treble for

:14:22.:14:30.

# Invincible # Invincible

# COMMENTATOR: Aberdeen, what a finish by Hayes! Stuart Armstrong

:14:46.:14:54.

smashes Celtic back on track. Stockley. Griffith' ball! Scott

:14:55.:15:01.

Sinclair! He's got McLean screening for him in the middle! He's unlucky.

:15:02.:15:19.

A free header for Boyata. Celtic win the treble! More reaction to come on

:15:20.:15:35.

the Cup final, BBC radio Scotland and online.

:15:36.:15:42.

It was a fantastic watch and I'm sure even the Aberdeen fans would

:15:43.:15:47.

agree with that. Their team couldn't have done much more. Second prize

:15:48.:15:51.

for them and it's the treble for Celtic. A big family moment

:15:52.:15:57.

obviously for Brendan Rodgers as well.

:15:58.:16:01.

A big deputation of family and friends here, to join him in this

:16:02.:16:10.

massive moment for him, and it is obviously hugely emotional for him

:16:11.:16:13.

and I would imagine he is about to lie down in a crumbled heap in a

:16:14.:16:19.

darkened room to recover from the last ten or 11 months or so of

:16:20.:16:27.

effort, but those efforts have been richly rewarded here today. So we

:16:28.:16:35.

have had all the thrills and spills of the Scottish Cup Final. Careful

:16:36.:16:39.

Brendan, you don't want to pull a hamstring at this late stage of the

:16:40.:16:47.

season. But, the three fingers held aloft to signal a clean sweep of the

:16:48.:16:53.

domestic prizes in Scottish football. Just one last word for the

:16:54.:16:59.

man who had the trophy in his hands, a yearing a, Alan Stubbs. Enjoy the

:17:00.:17:03.

night, you don't know when the next one is going to be. He deserves it.

:17:04.:17:08.

I am sure there will be great celebrations today, and once again,

:17:09.:17:12.

congratulations to his staff, the players, because they have just

:17:13.:17:15.

achieved something which is really difficult to do.

:17:16.:17:21.

You know, so... Have a great night and have a good rest, because it

:17:22.:17:25.

will soon come round again. I think he and his players management team

:17:26.:17:29.

and everyone else sobered with Celtic will be having a big night

:17:30.:17:35.

tonight, to celebrate the Scottish Cup win which Jonny Hayes scored the

:17:36.:17:40.

opening goal. It was cancelled out by Stuart article strong and what a

:17:41.:17:45.

dramatic finale it was. Just when it seemed as if we were heading towards

:17:46.:17:52.

an extra half hour, Tom Rogic had other ideas. He has been a major

:17:53.:17:57.

problem for Aberdeen all season long, and he has done it again. Joe

:17:58.:18:02.

Lewis had pulled off a string of superb save, but he was beaten here

:18:03.:18:09.

in the 92nd minute by Tom Rogic, and there was no extra time, it was

:18:10.:18:14.

Celtic's Scottish Cup, the treble for them, and the ball was on the

:18:15.:18:17.

spot at Wembley and it is the English fun final. It is Arsenal

:18:18.:18:23.

against Chelsea, and we will joining the commentary team of Danny Murphy

:18:24.:18:25.

alongside
