think so. This can bring them all together. It is a good squad. Any

team that could beat Hibernian as last week, that is no mean feat. We

know to expect a tough match. always enjoy coming to Glasgow and

have a goal. Will it be this seemed today? I always think that the best

way to try and get at Rangers or Celtic is to have a go and try and

score goals and get them on the back foot. You League form has been

up and down. Could this be a good chance? We have had some good teams

in the last few years. We will have to work hard, but we are up for it.

I am sure that Rangers players will be. It has all the makings of an

entertaining game. Not too many changes. Do we expect to see the

new boy at some point? We hope so. He has could spark, good pace, I am

excited. Hopefully, we will do well enough I will not need to use them.

with you. He is a good signing. He certainly looks like he has a good

pedigree, with a good movement. Dundee United have a decent side.

When you look at the starting line- up, what do you think? There is not

that much in it. But Dundee United will attack. Teams goal thinking

they can get results, whereas in the past, you were going to Ibrox

hoping not to lose badly. But teams now think they can get things from

Ibrox. And they are going to be on the front foot, expect at difficult

game for Rangers. Some significant players have been lost, replacing

them with the likes of Gary Mackay- Steven. There is a lot of youth in

there. David Goodwillie's shoes are huge wants to fill. I agreed that

they have to go and attack. If anyone is looking worried, it is Mr

White. He will want a run on this. This is it 9 -- this is Rangers's

best chance, having to go out. Having to do well. What you need

from defenders his experience. There is a good amount of

experience in Rangers, which will be important until the end of the

season. Looking at people like Goian and Papac. How much pressure

is Ally McCoist feeling? I think he is feeling quite frustrated, but he

will not let that sure. He has to get the best out of the boys.

Walter Smith did not have much money to spend previously, but

managed to keep Rangers on top and pick up titles. Other McCoist has a

really difficult job, keeping everything settled and get results.

This could be their best chance of silverware this year. Rangers

should be motivated and we should see that in the performance.

Dundee United a full of energy and drive. Rangers looked disjointed.

They look at the minute a bit flat footed and unsure and hesitant.

That is transmitting from the stands as well which will make the

second half it even more difficult from them. They will have to find

the energy from somewhere to get back in the game. The game are

still there to be got back into but United thoroughly deserve their two

goal lead. United had been very good, no doubt about that. Rangers

have been the opposite and you saw the look of concern on Craig

Whyte's face as he looked around Ibrox and saw all those empty seats.

A matching look of a worry on the face of Ally McCoist. He has a big

job to turn this around. A lot of this is down to Dundee United. They

were on the front that and put Rangers under immense pressure from

the kick-off pushing high into the pitch. Rangers never recovered.

They do not look confident on the ball and Dundee United are fully

deserving leaders at the moment. What does it mean for Rangers to

exit this competition? Their behind Celtic in the title race, is this

Rangers in meltdown? I don't know if I would use the word, meltdown.

Another day, another crisis. I am surprised by the attitude of the

Rangers players, not up for it at all. Ally McCoist will get into

them at half-time and I suspect he will make some changes because it

is not working. 2-0 is a dangerous calling for Dundee United because

Rangers have nothing to lose. It is up to Dundee United, what they need

to do, is to start the second half the same way as the first half. Do

not sit back and think you're in a lead at Ibrox but chase down and

closed down and really go for it and they could stretch the lead.

The next goal will decide where the United have good players,

tightening the pace. United have the players that can counter attack

and get a third goal. Rangers have to try and impose themselves more

than up to now. United can be dangerous. United have the players

that can do it again. Let us look at that first goal. A good header

from Gavin Gunning. Everything looks fairly tight, Gavin Gunning

picks up, everyone picks up. But when the ball get booked through,

one is picking up Gavin Gunning. United are attacking the ball, with

some purpose, not enough from Rangers. You see Bartley trying to

pass on Gunning. He is shouting around, maybe not loud enough.

Gunning wanted that, you have to also acknowledge the quality of

delivery from Mackay-Steven. Gavin Gunning has shown capability of

scoring in that way. It is a poor marking, which will be annoying,

especially with the experience and presence on the back line, where

they should be dealing with that It helps if you go ahead early.

Players want to get forward all over the pitch. We can talk about

about Dixon. When he got himself on the ball, particularly for the

second goal, he flies forward. He can defend, but wants to play on

the left wing. You could see him up at the bottom of the pitch, his

arms out, shouting, give me the ball. There is massive gap between

the two Rangers centre halves. You Dixon is the one forcing it. He

forces players back to defend time and time again. He knows what he is

doing. Certain players get their heads down, but he knows what he is

doing. He knows that he has a player there, someone who can be

trusted. If you look like personalities of people like Johnny

Russell or Jon Daly, does can smell The initiative is being taken all

the time. You have Bartley playing it right-back there. Dixon has a

good delivery. He is a striker's dream, lending that ball into the

middle of the box. He gets himself forward and asks questions of who

other is playing his area. There are decent players, getting close

to people. We often talk about the art of defending. You need to time

it right, wait for the right moment. He could have died in earlier. The

ball comes to him, is he a left- back or left-winger? You think he

has made a mess. Against St Mirren earlier in the season, he put in a

dozen quality balls and Jon Daly is waiting in the box, more than happy

to put an end to it. Dusan Pernis has played an important part, with

two really important saves from him. The first one from Aluko. And the

second save from Healy is terrific. It was a good save, a good height

for Pernis, which you would expect. Fantastic skill in dangerous areas.

The keeper is there when required. The part of the problem for Rangers

is to see what can be expected from Davis. It will all come from him,

not much creation from elsewhere. This is a big moment in the match,

it is 1-0, if that goes in, it will be 1-1. You see Davis moving in,

that then let's Healy get the shot away. The two Wake was have got to

get more weight supporting. -- the two white boys have got to get more

-- wide boys. Rangers need to get onto the front foot, having been on

the back foot. There needs to be more creativity. Papac planted

several long balls with no real quality up to Healy, who does not

want the ball in those areas. There needs to be more quality, Rangers

still get this. There is much more to do. You do not expect Dundee

United's performance to decrease. I believe that Rangers were 3-1 up in

a past match, then Dundee United came back. The crowd need to come

in, show more passion, then the game could turn. We are trying to

reflect the two sides of the coin at Ibrox, Rangers have been poor,

Dundee United really good. If you are the smaller team, you catch the

big teams on bad days. If you are Ally McCoist, you have limited

options. There are not a lot of options on the bench. As a manager,

he has to think what to do. It is not just the players, it is maybe

the system as well. What would you do to change it? Change the

position of a number of players? You need to do something to get

Davis on the ball more often. Maybe at up late for that? You could

maybe get Lee McCulloch ball into the middle off the park, involve

Wallace and Edu more. They have to get on the ball and tried to play

and take the responsibility. McCulloch will give them that, up

faced difficult situations before, and could go on and give them

something. That may be the most -- that may not be the most positive

change. But it will allow to Wallace and Edu to get forward. You

will width on that side. Papac is playing in front of Wallace. Maybe

McCulloch could come on and get them going. Let us look at that two

goal plural again. -- let us look -- the two goals again. Both were

great, thoroughly deserved. Very similar to ones from yesterday.

When you look around the wide open spaces at Ibrox, it is a grim

outlook for Rangers. It is and could get worse before it gets

better. I think Rangers could do with some good news at momentum and

feel-good factor. The cap can generate that, so there is work to

do. The empty spaces are worrying. Fans will get behind the team if

optimism comes back. That can be a massive turnaround. This is one of

Ally McCoist's most important half- time team discussion. There is a

lot to do, with 45 minutes to change the situation. A better

start is needed, imposing themselves on the game and getting

the fans there into it. United's plan at the start would be to get

the fans against the team, that seems to be working. I think we are

hearing there could be a change for Rangers. It is not the one we

expect. Kerkar is coming on for Celik. Kerkar has scored in very

few games. The doubt would be how much she would affect things. -- he.

What is more important is getting Davis on the ball, he is the player

that will open up the defence. That is a good defence growing in

confidence. You have one team enjoying the game, another one

struggling, and it is important for Dundee United to make sure that

they are recognising what was good in the first half and keep up that

head on that and flight into there. Dundee United were the last team to

matches. More than a year since losing the Old Firm game. This is

the scale of what Dundee United are Jon Daly with the physical presence.

Gary Mackay-Steven as well. This is what Rangers do not have. That is

what I said about Lee McCulloch. Rangers seemed to be hitting the

ball against a brick wall. We can see what Dundee United can do,

getting it up to Daly and Russell, then Mackay-Steven and get it off

that Rangers needed to put Dundee United under pressure, but it was a

comfortable result. Dundee United have put Rangers out in the past. I

think it was the manner of the performance. It impacts totally on

the performance, the lack of investment, hope, optimism at Ibrox

at the minute. I feel for Ally McCoist. I know he expected more

today. That is only part of that. When you see Andrew Little and

Salim Kerkar going on... I will interrupt you, let us go back to

Ibrox. Well deserved result? I think so.

No one can deny as that. The first half was very good. I was

disappointed we could not get a third goal. I was delighted with

the effort. We did not play so well on the second half, but a good

result. Can you believe you went up so quickly? We are an attacking

side, creating chances. The biggest part of this week, I have said, we

have to take chances. Fortunately, we did that today. Was the dilemma

to consolidate? If you sit back, you invite people on to you. I

wanted to make sure we were squeezed on to the halfway line up

to the pitch. -- up the pitch. couple of cracking goals. Yes. --

yes. Gavin Gunning did well putting us into the lead. Delighted with

the performances. Did you expect more from Rangers? I do not think

so. The Rangers players tried hard, but it that -- but it did not come

Ally McCoist. I would have preferred the Dundee United bench

to the Rangers bench. There were a more attacking options. There was a

quality on the Dundee United bench. It was strange to see the Rangers

squad with no real quality. I don't know who he could have brought on

to make a real difference. That is the main story for Rangers at the

moment. The Dundee United goalscorers are Gavin Gunning.

Wiping the blood from your brow. You have been in the wars. When you

come to Ibrox, you expect a difficult game. We gave as good as

we got. I am sure when you manager put you in, you did not expect to

get on the -- to get on the scoresheet. It was great. Johnny,

talk me through your number match. Luckily, I got back good touch and

got my shot away. Talking about Europe up and down League form, did

you expect to win this game? always expect to get something from

a game. Rangers did well today, working hard, we were brilliant in

the second half, the second half following a way, but we got the

success in the end. Gavin, we know Rangers have had some problems on

and off the field, did you expect more? They were probably better in

the second half. I thought we dug in well. At this club has a taste

against the Rangers team, was it chaos? I think the first half,

Dundee United played incredibly well, but did not have to play

their best in the second half. You expected Rangers to come on. I do

not think they were looking stressed, we were comfortable

defensively, without having to play at their very best. That is a sad

indictment that Rangers find themselves and. I think every

Rangers fan will look at this today, you bring on three substitutes,

Wylde, Little and Kerkar. If that is what you have to do to stay in

the Scottish Cup, it is the shape of things to come and what Ally

McCoist has to deal with. If that is the limitations of the squad,

looking at what Celtic have, the rest of the season will be long for

them. Well done to Dundee United. I was impressed. Mackay-Steven was

fantastic. And Armstrong as well. I was impressed with him. All the way

through the team, it was a bunch of people you could see were not

fearful walking into Ibrox. knows what he is talking about. The

past goal summing it up, lots of desire to get that within a 15

minutes. Lots of questions about the organisation within Rangers.

It is more hunger from Gunning to attack that. There needs to be more

appetite from centre half's. When you have an extra body there, it

was indicative of the first half, Rangers were hesitant, flat footed,

pedestrian at times. All the energy and purpose was coming from Dundee

United. I know we talk a lot about Rangers, but Dundee United were a

good side. There have been some good additions. Mackay-Steven and

Armstrong, I really like. And Johnny Russell taking the

goalscoring mantle from David Goodwillie. Looking excited, full

of energy, hitting form at the right time. I think the team

fancies themselves for another Cup run. What you are used to wit

Rangers is the response. And there was not one. There was no reaction.

We expected 1 at half-time, which did not come. Dundee United

defended in the second half, but were never under any real pressure.

Rangers never really had anything clear cut or in the real quality in

their last third plate. Dundee United were extremely comfortable.

And become for what -- Andy Comfort was underlined by the second goal.

A terrific goal for them. It kind of summed up their play. It was

very good, well what, stretching Rangers by pulling them white.

Dixon played a major part. And he had the vision to find Russell.

McCoist will get his team going again. It is unfair that it is all

down to Ally McCoist. That performance shows a lack of

investment. Losing the top striker in the match. -- losing the top

striker in Nikica Jelavic. I know Ally McCoist will want his team to

get a better performance, which she will in the weeks ahead. But if

ever a performance showed a manager needed support, and a club needs

investment, it is that performance. It is a struggle for Ally McCoist.

He will make sure he gets the best out of the players. That

performance needs to be better and he knows that. Hopefully, he will

get more players. It looks like it possibly could get worse before

getting better. Let us look at another big moment. Rangers were

one down. A terrific save from David Healy. Dusan Pernis is really

important to Dundee United. It was strange taking it with his right

foot. That would have confused the goalkeeper slightly. It was

definitely going in the corner there. He gets it round the corner,

exactly what you want. It does not matter if Rangers a week, there

will still be some chances. That was a time that could have given up

Rangers are left. But I am not sure if it would have. I think Dundee

United were quite simply the better team. Dundee United might have had

years to cope if they had had to do it. There were some decent chances

to get that the goal and squeeze out of Rangers' completely. They

were in control of the game. There was a shot back Garry Kenneth there.

-- shot by. A great delivery, but maybe some disappointment by Jon

Daly. It is Dixon's delivery again. Rangers need to stop things coming

in so easily. I do not think Dundee United needed to move themselves

for work too much. The team had the better opportunities. Any time you

go to the Old Firm, you keeper needs to play a blinder, you need

an element of luck. United were very comfortable. If anyone was

going to score in the second half, it could have been them again.

combination you could make of Rangers in the second half was This

was as close as putting any pressure on the United goal again.

Some pressure on Andrew Little? People are a way if Rangers are

lacking in creative players from middle to front. Nikica Jelavic,

their top scorer, has now gone. They are not seeming to create a

lot of opportunities. Aluko was taking a lot of the ball to deep.

Rangers need him on the pitch against United's back four. He is

unlucky. He needs to do his work closer to the 18-yard box. He can

get a shot away, but was receiving blue ball 40 yards from the coal,

which is no help to anyone. What about the rest of the season for

Rangers? I am fearful for them. We wonder we're the creation will come

from. Aluko has had a great start to this season, but is a player

that will flit in and out of games. It is back to that think of sending

a message, not just to Rangers fans or Celtic fans watching gleefully,

but at the other team will think, we are not going to stand off them.

We will have a go at that team. That is another problem Rangers has,

they are a squad that looks weekend. At a single other team will be up

100% to get that scalp. It is a terrible time. It is a long way to

the end of the season. If Ally McCoist wins at the League from

here, it will be the best I have seen it in 50 years. You are still

waiting to clinch a place in the last date. A trip to Dingwall

coming up. On Valentine's night. You might have been out yesterday.

Ross County are a good side. If they were in the SPL, they would be

holding their own. It was a difficult team to play against,

working hard. Defensively, they were going back into a 4-5-1

formation. I was lucky to get on the end of one cross. He was

blowing his own trumpet earlier. And this is in the last-minute. I

think it is a penalty. It is at double penalty. The same player...

And Richard Brittain, wasn't it? A good chance for them. I was

speaking to the second half, who said they could do without the

another game for them that they were probably not wanting. We are

still happy to be in the cap. It will be a difficult game in

watched. Where does that leave Rangers and Dundee United? Rangers

are in trouble. There is still the cloud over Ibrox with the of stuff

off the field. But it is also disappointing on the field. They

are desperate times. This could -- Dundee United should be proud of

their performance to date. There is a bunch of teams pushing into the

top 6 in the League, with Dundee United getting credit for a superb

performance. Dundee United fans hoping for a repeat of two years

back. It was X-rated for Rangers fans. Back and try to think of

something positive to say for Rangers. -- I have been trying. I

think what it is, there is such a small squat with limited amounts of

players, you want to concentrate on the League. You can have more

injuries between now and the end of the season. It is a very small

comfort you get from that. They will be delighted if they are

through. Hearts might have a chance to get through. Yes, they have just

kicked off at Tynecastle and Hearts are one goal against St Johnstone.
