The Scottish Cup, 4th Round Sportscene

The Scottish cup has been good to both hearts and Celtic in recent

seasons. They have lifted the trophy nine times in the last 15 years

between them. Celtic have won on six occasions in that spell. Neil Lennon

was captain in 2007 and Gary Locke got his hands on the trophy in 1998.

The teams are at opposite ends of the Premiership table with Hearts

desperate for an end to their financial troubles. But Celtic are

only too aware of the challenge that Hearts can present, with recent

memories of being knocked out at Hampden Park. Hearts went on to win

the cup two seasons ago with an emphatic victory over their biggest

rivals. But Celtic are the holders, as they look to replicate last

season's league and cup double. Party time for Celtic!

Young Hearts are already looking forward to a League Cup semifinal.

Premiership survival has to be their number one aim, but they have the

chance to set off on a Scottish cup run as well, but the degree of

difficulty could not be much greater today. Celtic don't just plan to win

this one. They want another helping of Hampden Park glory. They want to

hold on to this Scottish Cup. 11 teams through to the fifth round of

the competition, including Aberdeen. 1-0 winners at Partick

Thistle. Cons are dying got the only goal of that game. We will give you

more details of that match and then our main attention turns to

Tynecastle with live coverage of Hearts against Celtic in the company

of former Hearts midfielder Michael Stewart and former Celtic striker

Mark McGhee. Let's give you the team news. And it is a Hearts side

showing one change from the team which drew here with Ross County

last Saturday. David Smith is starting on the right side and he

replaces Callum Tapping for Gary Locke. Four changes to the team

which lost in the Champions League at home to Milan midweek. Scott

Brown, Anthony Stokes and Joe Ledley returning to the team with Nir Biton

starting as well. Georgios Samaras is on the bench. Big game for

Hearts, but the big issue, the much bigger issue for our supporters, is

the safeguarding of the future of the club. How confident are you that

that is close to being settled? Obviously the proceedings on Friday

have gone in favour of Hearts. It is a step forward. It is a difficult

situation that the club finds themselves in. It is still very much

an unsure future, but what happened on Friday has taken the club one

step further to trying to secure the future. I am pretty confident that

it will not go down the liquidation route. There will be a resolution

and the Foundation of Hearts will take control of the club. A big game

facing Hearts today. What does Celtic's European exit mean for this

game? It was interesting to hear Neil Lennon talking about moving on

from that, regardless of how the pundits might see it. Any criticism

they may have had regarding their run in Europe and their failure to

qualify, they feel as if they have done fantastically well to be there

through a very difficult set of qualifying games. And they are just

going to move on from that. I expect Celtic to be back at full pelt and I

don't expect them to lose any ground. It will be a really

difficult game for Hearts. The Scottish Premiership table

underlines the scale of the challenge facing Hearts today. Minus

three for them plus 33 for Celtic. On paper, the home team have no

chance here. Of course. It is well documented, the situation that

Hearts find themselves in. It is not a pretty one. But regardless of what

the table says, anybody that has played the game will tell you that

when it comes to cup competitions, it is just what happens on the day.

At Tynecastle, the games that I have seen for Hearts this season,

especially at home, they have never been overrun too much. They always

manage to make themselves fairly in touch. The game today against the

champions, Celtic, will be as big a test as they have had this year. I

do think that Celtic are going to be the strong favourites, but it will

not be a trouncing, identity. Let's get the full story of what happened

earlier with Partick Thistle and Aberdeen. A fifth minute headed goal

from Andrew Consett iron was enough to get this cup tie. -- Considine.

Fox turned away a volley and a deflected Ryan Jack shot was stopped

as well. Partick Thistle were better in the second half but they could

not get past a solid Aberdeen defence to get an equaliser. The

goal hero Considine showed his defensive qualities blocking a late

effort from Isaac Osbourne. When Aberdeen have beaten Partick Thistle

previously in the cup, they have gone on to win. Will this happen

this year? The highlights of that match on Sportscene tonight along

with the highlights of this one and all the goals from yesterday's

matches and Friday night in the William Hill Scottish Cup. An

interesting Celtic team selection because Charlie Mulgrew is so strong

for his club and for his country. But the combination of Joe Ledley

and his partner could squeeze them out. I think this is the strongest

pairing in the Premiership and for the national team at the moment. How

is he doing as a player? He has found a new level of maturity as a

guy. He has grown up. We see him taking responsibility. Even this

season, as the season progresses, and we are not even at Christmas

yet, we have seen an improvement and he is now a proper player, enjoying

playing in midfield, and a great player for Scotland. So influential

for Celtic. They are great with each other and they have done so well

with Celtic. The natural progression is to the national team, which has

been a revelation. Let's look at a couple of key players for Hearts

today. Obviously it is really important how they defend. They have

to get that part of it right. So much responsibility for Danny

Wilson. Has his game suffered because he is having to look after

younger players round about him? Possibly. It is always more

difficult when you drop down. It is easier to play with better players.

Danny Wilson is only a youngster, only 21, I think. Identity is a

natural leader. Talking about his character, he is not a natural

leader, but Ryan Stevenson is more energetic and in people's faces.

Possibly that is what Hearts need. Somebody to grab the game by the

scruff of the collar. And when it. I think maybe Danny Wilson's game has

suffered but Ryan Stevenson is very important for Hearts. Gary, it has

been a massive week for this club off the field. Is there a new-found

optimism after that CV was agreed in principle? Yes, I think it gave

everyone a huge boost. We have still got a long way to go, but it was

great to get a bit of good news for a change. Let's talk on the pitch. A

massive game today. Yes, a fantastic game for everyone. Although they are

young side, what an occasion to play against the champions, the cup

holders, at Tynecastle. They will go out and enjoy the occasion and

express themselves and if they do that, hopefully we will get the

right result. Pressure off? For me the pressure is on Celtic because

everyone expects them to win. The boys can go out and enjoy it and if

we are disciplined and play well, then we have players that can cause

them problems. Thank you. Have you had a job lifting your squad after

the disappointment of Tuesday? Not really. I don't think they have

anything to be down about. They competed at the highest level and

that is where I want them to compete. We picked up where we left

off domestically. It is a competition we are defending and

wants to play as strong as we can today. A win against Hearts in the

Scottish Cup would provide the perfect tonic anyway. Yes, it is a

big ask to qualify in a group as tough as that in the Champions

League. We played a play in large parts of it, and that is a positive,

and we want to get out there as quick as we can next year and sample

it all again. Yes, it is a competition we would dearly love to

win. A difficult time away from home but the players will be really

motivated. Hard to say the pressure is on Celtic. Do you agree? I don't

think I have ever been involved in a game without pressure so it will

make no difference to the players. The noise level is beginning to

rise. A great venue for any football match. Lots of memories? Yes, Celtic

scored a few times here. Always a great place to come and play and a

place that you knew you could be beaten, no doubt about it. You

always had to be on your game because you were in for a tough

match. The fans are fantastic, sticking by the club the way they

have. They generate a terrific atmosphere. It is one of the games

that they enjoy, Celtic coming here. It has the makings of a great game.

Michael, realistic hopes of a cup upset? As I said earlier, as a cup

match, there is always an opportunity. A difficult game for

Hearts to get anything from, but there is always the opportunity of

getting something. We spoke about the Celtic team selection and there

is only one change for Hearts. There are not many changes from Gary Locke

because there is not much you can do. It is a thankless task at times.

If guys have dropped in form a little bit, he has got no one to

come in and injuries as well. Things that naturally happen through the

course of the season. Very little to Mitch and Max the team -- very

little to mix and match the team. We are all set for an intriguing

Scottish Cup tie. The chance to reach the last 16 with coverage

coming up from Billy Dodds and our commentator Liam McLeod.

The last two winners of the famous trophy going head to head at

Tynecastle in the standout tie of this year's fourth round. Heart of

Midlothian have bigger battles to fight off the pitch. That will

mentally boost that led to stay in the top flight and provide them with

a financial return. The problem is they are up against a Celtic side

hurting from the midweek European exit. Since their defeat at the

hands of Hearts in the semifinals the season before last, they have

cantered to victory each time they have come here. Scoring 11 in just

three games. The defeat by AC Milan will have also sparked determination

from their manager. The least they can do now is retain their league

and Scottish Cup double. We are into December, the fourth

round of the Scottish Cup, the last of the fourth round ties to be

played this weekend. Still something to be sorted out at a later date.

Aberdeen getting their place in tomorrow's draw by leading Partick

Thistle in the early kick-off today. The players could not ask for better

conditions for the game. The pitch looking good and the skies above

blue. Floodlights beginning to come on as well. As with all Scottish Cup

ties this weekend, there will be a minute's silence observed as a mark

of respect for those who lost their lives and those in injured

conditions in hospital following the helicopter crash in Glasgow on

Friday evening. Gary Locke has a small squad to

choose from. But he has decided to start young David Smith on the

right, with Ryan Stevenson supporting Callum Paterson. McDonald

in goal is the only man in that line-up who started the 2012

Scottish Cup final. Robinson came on as a late sub.

There is no one over the age of 20 on the Hearts bench. The King

brothers are on it, with Tapping left out from the start. Pukki has

two goals for the club, one of those came on his debut here.

Positive news on Friday emanating from here. The company voluntary

agreement was conditionally agreed for Hearts. There is still work to

be done on that front, with a meeting in Lithuania at the end of

January. Heart of Midlothian could have been closed during that meeting

on Friday. It's a massive, major step in the right direction. This is

normally a keenly fought contest, is it not, Billy Dodds? Absolutely.

It's going to be really tough. After the result yesterday in this

wonderful competition, Rovers knocked out, you wouldn't put

anything against Hearts to do something.

Celtic really do need to bounce back. Going out of the Scottish Cup

is unthinkable to their supporters, after their continental adventure

came to an abrupt end on Wednesday. The pre-0 defeat at home to a C

Milan. A one horse title race will not

suffice for them between now and May.

Commons gives them it. Wonderful goal from Celtic. Kris Commons had

the pleasure of finishing it off, but Hearts have been ripped open in

the opening few minutes at Tynecastle, as Celtic take a big

step towards the fifth round already. That was the start that

Hearts dreaded. Absolutely brilliant play from Kris Commons and Joe

Ledley. Hearts not in a bad position there.

You get that start, you can see Neil Lennon absolutely loving it right

away. There's a bit of pressure on this game after the result midweek.

You can't get a better start than that. He realises that with that

celebration. It was too hyper Stokes, Lustig was

there. Brown involved in that move, the Celtic captain back in the

team. He has now served his suspension in Europe, missed three

Champions League matches. A clash of heads between Stevenson

and van Dijk. How do Hearts react to this? Just stay in the game. Make

sure they don't lose the next goal. It's a hard one for Hearts to take.

Young squared, in squad. Make sure they don't lose that

second goal. Stevenson has been in good form for Hearts this season.

Kris Commons has been good, by and large, for Celtic.

Wilson have got to try and cover that cross but the shot is already

away by then. The last time they met in this competition was the

semifinals in 2012. Craig Beattie with a last-minute penalty.

It is top of the SPL Premiership against bottom.

Hearts pressure -- thing a high line. You've got to be careful what

line you hope. He's won the free kick. This is a

kind of situation that Hearts need to take advantage of. It's really

good for Walker. Once the ball was Biton, he comes in from Charlie

Mulgrew. The arm comes out, pulling him back. Too much contact. Really

good play, good response from Hearts. Ideal opportunity.

It wasn't great, but it's still in there. Hearts fans wanted a penalty

there. It almost worked out for Hearts

there but the delivery wasn't great. When you put it low like that,

there's no problem for him there. It's a free kick this time. Hearts

had a penalty shout a couple of seconds ago. You have to use your

upper body in the game. Jordan McGhee is just 17 years of

age. Celtic came flying out of the

traps, they scored inside three minutes to lead this cup tie.

As a dear knocking the ball into the middle. -- Izaguirre. Hearts just

trying to stay in this game. Joe Ledley, had he found Brown, that

might have been a free shot on goal for the Celtic captain. It was

brilliant from McGowan, the first header. Stokes was in behind him for

a tackle. Turned over by Biton. You can see

David Smith just switches off, facing the ball. That allows Biton

just to get in behind him. I think Hearts are struggling to get

this Celtic system. They may have to allow Hammill to drop onto Kris

Commons. Get Stevenson on Charlie Mulgrew.

This will be the third time Hearts have had an opportunity to get the

ball in. They haven't taken full advantage of the free kick chances

they've had already. David Smith, who played against

Celtic for Raith Rovers on loan last season, takes the corner.

The ball looped up the left channel. There you go. Just that half hourly

yard -- half a yard, we are talking about. Celtic played the same four

along the six yard box. And we saw this excess AC Milan had in that

area. They could not handle it. The two goals from AC Milan came from

corners. It looked like Dylan McGowan was

going to try and divert the target. The second goal they got was headed

right across and they stuck to the back post but nobody reacted from

Hearts. The first header was far too easy again for Celtic.

Danny Wilson, the Hearts captain this season. He won the Scottish Cup

with Rangers. He is the captain but it is sometimes easy to forget that

he is only 21. He has done a lot in his young career so far. Rangers,

Liverpool alone, then back up here. We know what Ryan Stevenson can do.

Celtic won here earlier this season 3-1. Hearts seem to be holding their

own. Just seven minutes after they equalised in that game, Anthony

Stokes got a late one. He is flagged again. The good thing for Hearts,

from their point of view, despite losing the early goal, they have not

looked to Rocky. They -- have not looked to Rocky.

Jamie Hamill has had a couple of goals this season in the cup.

Forster made his England debut in the international friendly

double-header, in the game against Chile. England lost that one 2-0,

with Sanchez getting both. The referee allowing the advantage

for Celtic here. Celtic undefeated in the league this

season. One tie is the only time they have dropped points.

Virgil van Dijk looked the most impressive of the summer signings

brought in by Neil Lennon. He has been a good replacement for Wilson.

Big shoes to fill, but bigger issues were Victor and Gary Hooper.

Neil Lennon trying to find the right mix up front has had to rotate his

front man week by week every month. Trying to find the players that will

bring them the kind of goals that Gary Hooper brought them and Anthony

Stokes has brought them in the past. Celtic free kick. They have taken it

quickly. Kris Commons makes it two! Celtic take out their insurance

policy in the capital and it is Kris Commons with a double. It is Hearts

zero, Celtic two, so is the game over already? You would think so.

You can see Kris Commons to the right. The others switch off. Kris

Commons puts it in, but when he gets there, he is showing a ready left

foot. That was for the first goal. Right foot for that one. Hearts just

switch off. Kris Commons into double figures this season. Hearts are

breaking at Tynecastle. All in the opening quarter of this fourth-round

tie of the Scottish Cup. And a card for Charlie Mulgrew as well. Hearts

get the free kick. It is a long way back now for Hearts.

Doesn't matter that inexperience. You must communicate. There is no

talking. No communication. No awareness. They could have been

telling each other it was on the right shoulder. One quick pass and a

seven yard run and he sticks it away.

The boys will pick the bones out of it. But you cannot work it away from

Celtic. Plenty to talk about if you are Hearts supporter.

Defensive mistakes has been a problem for them this season. They

are very young squad and they have bigger issues to contend with just

now, but the goals they have lost in the league games this season have

come from switching off. That inconsistency with young lads. A few

great performances this season and then they switch off. That is what

has happened in this game. Closing the gap to 12 points, is it? Yes, 12

now. The minus 15 points that they started with as a result of going

into administration. They have got back up to minus three.

They simply cannot concede another one. Hearts need the next goal. Good

run from Stephenson to his right and he did not spot it. He just does not

get ahead. That upper body strength we were talking about. Paterson is

on the right-hand side and one good password have them through

one-on-one. Seven defeats and a draw is all they

had to show for their efforts between Aberdeen matches in November

and August. Ryan Stevenson did not catch that

one but he had no other options. Good run. Nobody in front and he

have to take on the shot. Very difficult at the moment to see

how Hearts can get back into this. Comments went for the chip and it

would have been some way to get a hat-trick. -- Kris Commons. Thee is

not the quickest, but once he gets the ball back, you can see the

awareness of where McDonald is. Decent save. Brilliant from Kris

Commons. Hearts are getting a chasing now.

Hibernian are already through. Dundee United, Caledonian Thistle,

St Johnstone and Aberdeen as well, who defeated Partick Thistle earlier

in the day to get through. Eight teams, four replays, including Queen

of the South, St Mirren. Dundee United, Jamie McNamara and assistant

manager and coach Darren Jackson, two former Celtic players of course.

Wonderful form that they are in just now. 5-2 victory against Kilmarnock.

I enjoyed it. They must be having a day off today. Two quick goals just

after the break. Never write them off. They keep going at you.

They are just weaving tapestries outside the Hearts penalty area,

trying to get that defends open again. They are shifting the Hearts

formation about so well. Commons coming off, Ben Stokes. Brown will

step in there. That's what I'm talking about, they have to

communicate. It's pretty difficult when Celtic are shifting about the

way they are. Paterson was strong against van

Dijk, he was unfortunate there. Van Dijk scored a couple in the recent

victory in Dingwall against Ross County. His first two for the club.

Celtic could do with a winter break, they are not getting one this year.

That was great play by Jamie Walker, driving it back. Ambrose is there.

Hearts need something to grasp onto. Better from Walker. He's been a

bright spark so far in terms of getting forward, couple of runs.

Good first touch from Anthony Stokes. This is on. Celtic are

surely now through to the fifth round. We are just beyond the

half-hour mark at Tynecastle. It is the Celtic captain, Scott Brown. It

is 3-0 to the holders. It's that every again. He's got him, and then

he's not. He is onside, but that movement is killing that. Even

though he is young, McGhee, he's got to do more here. Hit the shot,

deflected onto the post from Joe Ledley and then it just falls to the

one that Hearts fans just didn't want it to fall to, Scott Brown. It

really is game over. Young McGee is getting killed down

that side, isn't he? Hearts are absolutely stunned.

Little wonder. It was always going to be a massive challenge for them

to knock Celtic out this afternoon. You look at the time and the

scoreline. You can fear for them now.

The Celtic captain celebrating being back in the team after that European

suspension. There were plenty Hearts supporters

making for the exits there. I think the game is a bogey.

A huge mental test for this young Hearts team.

You do not want this to be a trouncing.

He raps a foot around it, get it set. There you go.

Celtic were in Amsterdam when the draw was made. The day before they

played Ajax in Amsterdam and the draw was made. He is shaking his

head a little bit in the media box when he was asked about the draw and

his reaction. He acknowledged how difficult he thought it was going to

be. The last time they met in the

Scottish Cup at Tynecastle, it was pre-see that Celtic won by in

February 2004. Martin O'Neill's team. Paul Hartpury and Alan Maybury

were both sent off late on in that game.

You feel for the Hearts young lads. It's a tough one for them. Here is

this movement again from Celtic, threatening through by Ledley. They

are 3-0 down, it might just be damage limitation for Gary Locke.

You would think at some point they would open out a little bit. But if

they open out... Celtic might just find more room. You worry about

Hearts because Celtic look like they can just cut through them when they

want. It doesn't get any easier for

Hearts. The weekend they go to inform Dundee United in the

Premiership. Celtic go to Motherwell on Friday

night. A challenge across from Kevin

McHattie. Last season, Kevin McHattie made

that back left slot his own. We've talked about the movement from

the Celtic front players and the midfield players, but you've got

these two fullbacks bombing forward at will. So hard to communicate,

talks, switch about, realise who is where in the park.

What do you do with five minutes to half time? What do you do at

half-time for Gary Locke in this situation? The only thing that will

get them back is getting the next goal. To do that, you've got your

work cut out. You feel that Celtic have just ripped them apart.

Sometimes you just have to say damage limitation. It's a hard one

for him, he's a young manager as well, he's got young players out on

the pitch. They have to try and get back in the game. Try and match up,

maybe even play a diamond so that the inexperienced boys out there...

They know what they are doing, it's a basic job, they will see where

they go. The fourth arrives. Joe Ledley, who

scored in last season's final, ensures that Celtic are taking a

Sunday stroll down on easy Street in this fourth-round tie. 4-0, not even

half-time. Talking about those fullbacks

getting forward, Lustig, what a ball that was. Just throwing yourself in

there to get a tap on it. Ledley does exactly that. Brilliant again

from Celtic. It was the Welshman who added the

cherry to the top of the kick in the final win over hip Ernie and in May.

-- Hibernian. The Celtic fans will be absolutely

loving this. And that's the fifth! What a fit it

was from Lustig! That is an absolute stunner!

Lustig breaks forward in a central area, get in this right, cutting

into the central area. He has Stokes making the run. He's not using

Stokes, he's hitting it from 25 yards. It flies over MacDonald! A

great strike. You fear for Hearts, you really do. Young manager, young

players, all over the place will stop where can they go from here? I

don't think there are many managers have to face this. Unbelievably

Celtic find themselves doing high-fives before the interval. The

Hearts fans have spent the last year and a half enjoying five goals when

they beat Hibernian 5-1 in the final. A taste of their own medicine

in this cup tie. The quality of the majority of the goals were sent it

-- for Celtic have been exquisite. There was a concern for Hearts that

there would be a backlash from Celtic's point of view because of

what happened in the Champions League on Tuesday. The nightmare is

reality here. Brown looking for Celtic's six and

nearly finding it. He gets himself round the back. On a sixpence. The

only man in that six yard box for Celtic. It could have been six, you

are right. He doesn't look too happy that he will be ecstatic, Neil

Lennon. One minute of stoppage added onto

the end after that great play from Jamie Walker. Nearly consolation

before the interval. A great shot saved well but he keeps his clean

sheet. A great shot from Forster. Not the best of times recently. Good

effort. And it is half-time and from

Hearts's point of view they will be gutted it is not full-time. They

want this game over and done with an Celtic looked to have done it

already. Kris Commons with a double. This was the opener, with Joe Ledley

finding him. The second arrived after a quick free kick that found

Kris Commons, 2-0. The third came from the former Hibernian midfielder

Scott Brown after Joe Ledley's efforts deflected off the post. Joe

Ledley himself got on the scoresheet at 42. The ball coming in with

Mikael Lustig finding the back post. They just before half-time, the pick

of the bunch from Mikael Lustig, the Swedish international, and we have

an unbelievable scoreline at half-time of heart of Midlothian

nil, Celtic five. I think we can safely assume that the name of

Celtic is in tomorrow's draw for the fifth round of the William Hill

Scottish Cup. And already embarrassing scoreline could get

considerably worse before we finish. Let's hear from Michael Stewart,

former Hearts midfielder, and former Celtic striker Mark McGhee. What a

performance from the lemon's team. -- from Neil Lennon's team. After

they lost to AC Milan, they have changed the shape completely, going

to a diamond, and the way they have executed it is textbook. The

movement, the exchange of play and positions, as just bamboozled

Hearts. You could see how they wanted to put Celtic under pressure

but they could not get near them and Celtic have picked them. Celtic have

been amazing. You work on most in training. They would not have even

got the goals that they have got here today. They have shaped like a

diamond at I did not think it would be a trouncing before the game but

it well and truly has turned into one. They have picked the Hearts

off. All credit to Neil Lennon and the coaching staff because Hearts

have not been able to live with Celtic with that diamond in

midfield. What can they do? It is very difficult. You talk about them

matching up, or the Hearts fullbacks trying to engage with the Celtic

fullbacks, but then you are opening up and offering gaps and holes. We

have seen so far in the first half that Celtic exploited every hole

that Hearts offered to them. The Hearts players will be in there,

talking about it, saying someone had to pick up the right midfield

player. And Hearts will be saying, who is the right midfield player?

One minute Joe Ledley is over there, Mikael Lustig is over there, and the

interchange is just... You cannot draw the position is that the Celtic

players have played in because they have interchanged so much. It is so

difficult. Then at the end of it, as individuals, they have played well.

Control has been good, they have been strong on the ball, they have

played well. They have played very well. Hearts in the second half,

well, they have a big job on. We will talk more about this match

shortly. Hearts fans might want to disappear! Let's recap what happened

in the other Scottish Cup tie which was played at Firhill at 12:45pm.

Andrew Considine got the only goal of the game for Aberdeen and they go

through to the last 16 of the competition. You can see highlights

of that one and this one as well and the best of Friday and Saturday in

the Scottish Cup tonight. Games are so often about setting the tone from

kick-off. Celtic could not have done it any better. They were slick,

quick, and so effective. And ahead after two minutes and 21 seconds.

They did not want Celtic to get an early goal because it confirms

everything they have been working on. It gives them confidence, spring

in their step, the platform to go on and win the game. You could see

Hearts wanting to step on and get close to Celtic. Already the

movement and positions that they took up with Hearts trying to work

out who was playing well. Really difficult. Celtic passing the ball,

making lots of passes. Everybody wanting the ball, everybody taking

everybody on the move. You do not see a Hearts player getting within

two yards off the ball. Getting into the final third and showing that bit

of quality, it is just textbook stuff from Celtic. And the finish

was fantastic. Right across the goalkeeper. And it is clipping the

post. It could not have been better place. No chance for the goalkeeper.

There is no pressure on the ball because of the movement and the work

that Celtic are dimming. It does not allow Hearts any opportunity to get

anywhere near. Going one goal behind after three minutes is bad enough.

Hearts could not afford to switch off, but they did. Massive credit to

Celtic for switching on at this moment when the free kick was

awarded but Hearts could not afford to switch off. When they get a free

kick, you have to switch on, the opposite. You can see the two Hearts

players looking at where the free kick will be taken, with their backs

to the player. Then he makes his run. You can't be doing that. You

have to have an urgency, regrouping, calling people, facing

the ball, getting Hearts players in front of the ball. The referee goes

to tell him to take it quickly, they turn away and he scores. This

epitomises the character that he is full Celtic, the exact opposite of

everything we have spoken about from a Hearts perspective. He is switched

on. He has taken the ball, take on it, walking forward. He is already

looking and thinking what can I do? Straight on the ball, boom. Celtic

have been so clinical today. I think the build-up to goal number three

underlines the difficulties that Hearts are having in coping with the

Celtic system. Yes. We spoke about it for the first goal as well. He

starred in the left back position. Over to the right, there is no

pressure on the ball, they have all the time in the world. You have

quality players like that. Great control from Anthony Stokes. Then it

lands at Scott Brown's feet. The Tynecastle crowd are devastated. But

there is no pressure from Hearts on the ball because of the movement

that Celtic have been making in the middle of the pitch. The movement

has been fantastic. When you have got quality, you cannot be affording

that time and space because you will be punished and Celtic have done

that so well today. 3-0 with Scott Brown scoring there. But worse to

come for Hearts. It is gratifying for a football team when what you

work on on the training ground comes to fruition on match day. This may

be exemplifies that, number four. Gary Parker and the staff must be

looking at this. It could not have gone as well as it has. It has been

off the training ground. The quality as well. This ball across, that is

just inviting the ball to be put in the net. That was about my distance!

Fantastic bit of play. From the foot. The previous goal when it was

switched from right to left, and then the diagonal, and onto Anthony

Stokes. This switch in play. Charlie Mulgrew at the centre. A fantastic

cross. A lot of Celtic players have come into that, through the middle,

which is attracting the Hearts players into the middle. Then the

Celtic fullbacks have given them whip at the top. Emilio Izaguirre

came into Mikael Lustig. They have punished them as well because Kevin

McHattie was too far over. There has been no margin for error for Hearts.

Every time they have made a mistake, they have been punished. In this

one, Mikael Lustig drove forward and then planted one in off the

crossbar. It is a ridiculous shot that gives the keeper no chance. It

is borne out of confidence. The full-back does not score a lot but

he has a pop because anything can happen today. The effort stuns

Hearts. Four was bad enough but then five in off the crossbar is getting

beyond. Very difficult. How worried is Gary Locke in the dressing room

about this taking an record-breaking proportions? Very worried. There is

no sign of an improvement in the first half. It is not as though in

the last five minutes they seemed to be on top of the game. A very

inexperienced team and we were talking about this during the first

half. It is not as if it is a team of experienced guys who know what is

going on. There is no one who can say, right, this is what we need to

do to shore things up. An inexperienced team will get

overwhelmed and does not know how to come back. Gary Locke will be

anxious in the changing room to get the message over about how to stop

this dominant performance from Celtic. It has not been difficult

pulling together the Hearts shots on target because there were not many.

This one from Paterson was never going to find its way past Fraser

Forster. They have ventured over there rarely. Up until the second

goal, if you edited out the first goal, Hearts were up for it. They

were trying to secure whatever plan they had. Trying to get the Celtic

back four under pressure. It was terrific play there. Unlucky not to

end up as a goal. It will be a consolation, whatever they get. The

manager has now got a difficult task. He have to change the shape or

make some allowance for the shape that Celtic are playing. He also

have to convince his players. Look at the Celtic team and what we are

at the moment. You are a group of young guys. He have to give them

something, something to feel better about, something to give it a go in

the second half and have some pride. They are entitled to do that because

if you look at the difference between the teams, Celtic are the

Champions League team, the Champions League players are melting, --

emerging. I think the manager has got to forgive them and send them

out with a little bit of help, as it were, to go into the second half and

give it a go. Discount the first half. It is gone. Now work on the

second half performance. It is 5-0 at half-time. Let's recapture rest

of the story this weekend in the fourth round of the William Hill

Scottish Cup. Dundee United had a difficult time against Kilmarnock

but came through in the end. Scoring for fun at the moment. 5-2 winners.

Hibs, Terry Butcher's first winners manager there.

We will show you some of the key moments from some of those other

games a little bit later on. Its eyes down for the second half of

this one at Tynecastle. Is it all about what Celtic want to do, do

they want to score another five? How many times have we been in a game

like this where rates five at half-time? Celtic didn't want that

game to end, they will have wanted to keep playing and playing and get

as many goals as they possibly could. They have to pick it up again

now. It will be interesting to see if Celtic can maintain that

performance. Is a damage limitation for Hearts? It's got to be. You've

got to get some sort of pride out of the game. That will come from almost

discarding the first half, looking at it starting 0-0. The Celtic crowd

want to get the same score in the second half. There's been some sort

of tactical change from the Hearts manager here. They had to do

something. They couldn't have gone out and carried on the way they did

in the first. Halfway through, Celtic are five goals in front. Here

is the second half with Billy Dodds and Liam McLeod.

Hearts, it was a 7-0 loss to hip Ernie, that match on New Year's Day

in 1973, here at Tynecastle. They will be looking to salvage some

kind of pride from proceedings tonight. Dusk has fallen on

Edinburgh. It is van Dijk for Celtic, who go hunting a sixth goal.

How does it look as though Hearts are going second half, Billy? Brad

McKay has gone into the right centre half and they pushed McGowan into

midfield. Trying to get a defensive midfield, protect, try and get a

hold of this Celtic movement. Paterson has come to the right hand

side as well. No changes for Celtic at the

interval. They are onto the back four again.

Lustig, just getting himself high up the pitch. It's another quality

cross. Nobody on the end of that one.

This is the 25th time they've been drawn together in the Scottish Cup.

Including repays -- plays, it's the 30th meeting.

The first meeting was in the final in 1901. Hearts won at 4-3.

It was a lovely touch from Stevenson.

Just make sure they don't lose this second-half, get some pride back.

Gary Locke had so many injuries as a player. He was suited up for that

final. He has Brown on his right shoulder

but realises the cross is going to the front post area.

We know how dangerous the left foot of Charlie Mulgrew is.

This is as good as Celtic have zipped the ball about all season.

Gary Locke will stick this on the analysis and go through what Hearts

could have done. You need to teach young lads, make sure they know not

to switch off. It is the only way you will learn as a youngster.

Apart from three players, everyone is 22 or younger in the heart

line-up. -- heart line-up. I mentioned there were a lot of

Hearts fans leaving in the wake of the fourth and fifth goals. But

there are plenty who have stayed. Jamie Walker is a talent. Kevin

McHattie was one of the players who came in last season when they did

have a bigger squad. Jamie Walker is another. The Hearts Young Player of

the Year is in. -- season. McGowan, his brother, Ryan, scored

in the Scottish Cup final of 2012. Dylan won't be repeating that feat

this season. He has hurt himself. I don't know if

he has landed awkwardly, holding the ankle. He was on his way out for the

header. It was from a long way out as well.

An awkward one for McHattie to defend, the way it was zipped in.

You want to be positive but sometimes you learn better with a

negative. Neil Lennon celebrating his 200th game in charge of Celtic

this afternoon. If you think back to one of his first in this

competition, when he lost to Ross County in the semifinals, it has

been a turnaround. A couple of Champions League adventures as well

in the midst of all that. OK, it hasn't gone as well as he would have

liked it to have gone this season in that very, very challenging group.

But to get there, having come through three qualifiers as well,

he'll be quite happy with that when he looks back at this season, even

happier if he's got two pieces of silverware to go with it again.

It's a penalty kick. Celtic do have the chance for a sixth. You can bet

Kris Commons will try and find this ball. He will want his hat-trick.

It's just rubbing it in, isn't it? Ledley could have had the strike.

Mulgrew could have taken himself, goes back to Commons. That is

harsh. I can't believe he has given that. His hand is down, it's the

Poor decision. -- poor decision. There should be no sympathy. That's

not a penalty. He's only a yard away, kicks off him, hand down. When

it's not your day it's your day. It could be Kris Commons' day. A chance

for his hat-trick. Celtic looking for their sixth, and

they have it. That is clinical from Collins, I didn't expect anything

else on the day he is having. There was no chance of stopping that. A

wonderful free kick from him, right into the bottom corner. And they got

this penalty because of the handball from Danny Wilson. Individually you

have got to look at that goal. It is a poor decision. Celtic making a

change. What Hearts don't want to see is a midfielder being replaced

by a striker. This is a chance for the substitute

to get some confidence. Neil Lennon is desperate for him to get on the

scoresheet. Celtic are getting plenty of

opportunities so I wouldn't put it past him to score. Celtic are going

into a situation where they have league fixtures coming up, but they

need to be in contention to stay up. Celtic trying to keep the pressure

on here. Kris Commons taking his tally to 11

this afternoon. I think that sums up the way things are going for him

right now, a little slip in the box. Celtic have been hungry this

afternoon, they want more. Hearts, sending everyone back to defend.

Ledley. Another break of the ball goes Celtic's way.

That will be a goal kick. It is all or nothing from him, and Commons not

happy, as you can see. He quit the national team in May, Commons. We

have seen this season the Kris Commons we saw when he first arrived

at Celtic. He was a star for them in the second half of that season.

Still Celtic come, and Ledley to McDonald. How Hearts would love to

have that man in the maroon shirt once again. He scored twice in the

final against Hibs. He scored in the 2006 final as well in penalties. You

think he could have made a difference today? No.

Almost! That was a really good strike for him. That was a good

strike for Hamill. Earlier today, Aberdeen going through against

Partick Thistle, Andrew concert -- Concerdine with the goal.

Kris Commons looking more like himself and Izaguirre looking more

like himself at times as well. This will be the second change for

Hearts, Ryan Stevenson being warmly applauded by the supporters, most of

whom have stayed to watch this horror movie that is playing out in

front of them on their home patch. Good play from Celtic again, they

have been passing the ball well all day. Ledley involved there. He is

still to sign the contract that is on the table with Celtic if he wants

it. Will he stay or will he go? It just gets over his head, a let

off for Hearts. Celtic looking for cup number 37 this season, nobody

has won it more. Used a little touch, a little Bohm,

coming together. It is a free kick. What can Hearts make of this? Trying

to put some kind of respect on the scoreline.

Here is Stokes. Four team-mates with their arms stretched, asking, "where

is the past? " -- pass. Fisher will be on for Celtic in a

moment. Celtic will wait until this corner kick is defended. Jamie

Trying to keep this alive, the hosts.

Fair play to Hearts, they have continued to fight for the cause.

Hearts, claiming an arm. It is going to be a Celtic goal kick. Nothing

there. Nothing doing. Here is the change, it is like for like. Lustig

off, Fisher on. That was a great save by MacDonald.

Still alive, though. Brown! That's seven! Hearts are heading for a

record defeat. Scott Brown leather is home Celtic's seventh. It is

seventh heaven for the holders! It was McKay's legs, Brown just had

to strike. Takes a deflection, MacDonald had gone the wrong way.

He's going for it. Celtic have been brilliant.

It's been a horrible afternoon for Hearts. We keep going back to it,

they have got a bigger fight on their hands. They will know more

about the future of the club come January. Boerrigter, about to come

on for Celtic. The foundation of Hearts, they can't

-- third bidder, will hopefully take control of the club then.

It doesn't matter how many Celtic put past them today, that is

obviously more important to them long term. But this will hurt.

Boerrigter comes on to replace Kris Commons. Listen to the ovation this

man is about to receive. Quite rightly so. His finishes are

excellent. The first two, one left foot, right in the corner, and then

a right foot finish as well, and then gets a hat-trick with a

penalty. It's a great day for Kris Commons.

May be as good a performance he has seen domestically away from home

since he took the reins. Final change for Hearts. They are

going to bring an Adam King. He has been in and around the first team

for a wee while now. He is replacing Jamie Hamill. Not a

good day for Jamie Hamill and cold. It's a debut for Adam King. Not

ideal. As easy game Celtic have had here at

Tynecastle, it means so titanic tussles between these two clubs at

Tynecastle in particular over the years. This never threatened to be

one of them. Anthony Stokes has still not scored today.

The 2012 winners have been well beaten by the 2013 winners.

Hearts don't want to be the team that goes into the record books 8-0

defeat. We know that van Dijk has been

watched by the Dutch national side scouts.

The one thing you have to say is that Hearts, their players, they've

kept trying. It's not like they've thrown in the towel. Can they take

anything from the second half? That is professionalism, that pride we

were talking about. Call it what you like.

The midfielders have come to the fore for Celtic today.

Already through to tomorrow's drawer, Hibs, Alloa, Albion Rovers,

Raith Rovers, Inverness, St Johnstone and Aberdeen. Celtic about

to join them. Celtic corner. That deflection

nearly got him that hat-trick. Celtic have been insatiable,

rampant. They just want to go home now,

Hertfordshire. You tend to forget these lads, especially with the

17-year-old, it's a lovely run from him, good ball by Carrick, delivers

a wonderful cross. When you think back to the size of

the Hearts squad from a few years back, their years under Vladimir

Romanov, at the different nationalities that were here as

well. When you look at the back of today's match day programme and you

looked at the players, all but one are Scottish. Dylan McGowan is the

exception, the Australian. With the wages being thrown about

them as well. What a task Gary Locke has had this

year. MacDonald has missed that time. Swept away by McGee.

Izaguirre. Is it going to get worse for Hearts?

Celtic fans would happily watch this all night. Still stringing the

passes together. I heard a whistle, he doesn't agree with the decision.

It is a Hearts free kick. Well into the 90th minute. We are about to

find out how much longer Gary Locke will have to suffer. They will have

two grams up their players when they go into training next.

One minute being added on to the end. A bit of sympathy from the

match officials, you feel. But they had to prioritise, Gary Locke will

tell them to try and forget about it. He will show them a few things

that can make them better players but they have a few games coming up

over the festive period so they have a few games that can put them back

into that relegation battle and close the deficit. Sadly, one of

those games is against Celtic in Glasgow. Well into the final minute

now. There is the final whistle, that

torture is over for Hearts. Celtic celebrate a magnificent victory, and

Neil Lennon's 200th game in charge of the club.

It was 5-0 before the interval! A wonderful performance from Celtic,

but this equals the worst ever result for Hearts, they lost 7-0

against him Bernie and in January 1973. Now they have lost 7-0 in the

fourth round of the William Hill Scottish cup. Scott Brown goes up

the tunnel, two goals himself today. He has his eye, double

himself. -- his eye on the double. Conclusive, emphatic... You can come

up with your own objective to describe that crushing defeat for

Hearts. Celtic through to the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish

cup. How good, Mark McGhee, were Celtic? I thought they were

brilliant. Their movement, if you could have watched it from above the

pitch you would have seen a variety of movement, interchange of play,

quality of passing, good decisions and fantastic finishing. The Hearts

team were exposed. Maybe it could have been three, four, five, not

seven, but they have to put this aside. Kris Commons is pitch side.

It is good to get confidence from this, and now onwards and upwards.

There was always that feeling that you could slip up. Know, every time

we are playing we are expected to win and when we put our minds to it

we are match for anyone inside Europe. Is that as good as you have

played in a Celtic jersey? I think the whole team performance in the

first half was outstanding and it is the players around me that make me

the player I am. Without Charlie and the other players I am useless but I

am blessed with a group of good players around me. You have your

shooting boots on today. Yes, it is the hardest one that I have ever

scored, the tap in, and the deflection for the second one, but I

will take them all. How difficult was it to bounce back from the

disappointment of Tuesday? We had faith in ourselves, and the tempo we

set was incredible. Is there a feeling within the squad but when it

clicks for this side, it really clicks? Yes, I think it is the same

for every side. The lads are on fire and hopefully it will continue.

Obviously there is no one you would fear in the draw, is there anyone

you would like? We will see what happens. The most important thing is

that we try to retain this cup. Thank you, well done.

Five goals between them, seven in total for Celtic. How do you

describe that from a Hearts viewpoint? Extremely disappointing.

In the grand scheme of things, it is a result that was possible because

there is a huge gulf in class and experience of the two teams. Celtic

were on top form today and Hearts were way below par but goals change

games, and we saw the first goal after two minutes and 20 seconds

which really set the tone and emphasised the difference in the

teams, in what went on to be a theme through the day. A great interchange

in the movement from Celtic and Hearts hardly got anywhere near the

ball. There were five goals in the first half. Yes, they were blown

away. I think they would have prepared well for this game, they

would have been talking about Celtic and their shape, and then I think

their shape would have been a surprise to them. Before they had

chance to get to grips with their shape, they found themselves two

goals down and it is difficult to make the change while it is

happening. This is a real self-inflicted goal. The other

ones, great play from Celtic obviously. We spoke about Hearts not

being able to get to grips with their shape, but their second goal,

a quick free kick, that is one that will irk the Hearts management. You

felt the roof really fell in for Hearts. The Celtic shape caused them

to switch off, they were already feeling sorry for themselves, and

when Charlie McGrew took his free kick, several of them were already

walking away. This happened right through the game, the two fullbacks

were up the pitch for Celtic, exploiting the narrowness of the

Hearts defence, which have been caused because of Celtic's shape.

This was a wonderful goal and it is because of the confidence flooding

through the team. They think, "I am going to have a pop and anything can

happen. " how much was this Celtic making a

statement? We wondered if they would have any hangover from going out of

Europe, if they would be feeling sorry for themselves. We heard that

that would not be the case, and that they wanted to win the cup and win

the league, so I think they have put down a marker. Everybody knows they

are the team to beat. They have shown huge intent because everybody

knows Celtic are going to win the league, but going out of Europe it

falls on the Scottish cup and there is an incentive to make the season a

success because if they only win the league it is fairly disappointing

season for Celtic. They need to do the double again to emphasise having

a successful season and today they really showed that they are going

all guns blazing to do double again. There was certainly no sympathy vote

from the referee in the award of the penalty, which we will get two in a

moment, but let's get more reaction from downstairs. We have heard from

Kris Commons, and Scott Brown scored twice as well. We will hear from him

shortly with Gary Locke, but now Neil Lennon. It is the best

performance I have had in my time as manager. In terms of Utopia, that is

as good as it gets. That is the way we want them to play and the -- it

was everything I could have asked for. People getting the ball,

getting in the box, the passing, it was all there in evidence today and

it wouldn't have mattered who we played today in that form. Right

from the start, it really clicked today. Yes, obviously I wanted a

reaction from them after Tuesday night but they are great team, some

great players, and they showed that today. There is no shame in going

out of the Champions League, they were competing at the highest

level, and now they have put down a marker for the rest of the season.

You must have been pleased that even 5-0 ahead at the end of the first

half, they still pushed. We asked them to play the game as if it was

0-0, and like I said we couldn't have asked for any more. It has been

an all-round fantastic day. Do you feel it was a statement after

Tuesday? Yes, there has been a lot of criticism, some justified, some

unjustified, but we wanted to let everybody know that we are still an

excellent side. The players have set the bar high, haven't they? Yes, I'm

not expecting them to play like that every week, but particularly the

first 45 is as good as I have ever seen and it could have been more.

Everything you want from your team, I got today. Not a bad way to

celebrate 200 games in charge. Yes, it is a nice milestone, a great

privilege being in the manager 's' club. A lot of managers first time

round don't see 50 games, so it is very pleasing but I want longevity

in the job and 200 is a nice marker to hit. No one would have hurt more

than him at Celtic's campaign in Europe ending during the week. You

can sense a warm glow of satisfaction about today. He's right

what he said. I'd be surprised if they played, in terms of the purist

sense, the football they played in the first half. He talked about the

Speed, the fitness, quality of touch of the team. It all came together.

It was a sensational performance. You look at the opposition, you have

to look at it and wonder about the quality. I don't doubt they would

have beaten anybody today, whether it would have been seven against a

better side, I don't know. You can't take anything away from Celtic

today. They certainly didn't need any help, did they get some from the

referee? It was an extremely harsh decision. Apart from the fact it is

point-blank close range. You see here in the close-up that Danny

Wilson's arms are effectively behind his back almost. It's not as if what

people talk about an unnatural position. Just down by his side. A

yard at best. I think he could have given himself a second and realised

that it is a harsh penalty and, given the fact that Celtic five up,

he should maybe have just let that one go. That is not taken away from

Kris Commons, who got his hat-trick with that. It was a sublime finish

right in the corner great penalty. A keeper has no chance of saving a

penalty like that. That was 6-0 Celtic, that scoreline pretty

quickly became 7-0. Goals are fairly rare commodities, maybe becoming a

bit more regular of late, a double, he will be celebrating that one.

With his left foot at well. It comes after a decent pass. We looked at

how quickly Hearts reacted to the save. Stokes reacts first. Big

deflection. You expect Hearts, even at this stage in the game, you do

expect them to react better to that. They don't really go to it. They

allow him to cross the ball. You expect Hearts to have someone flying

in to try and prevent the cross. Hearts lost a goal last weekend at

Ross County and they had nine players around the box with nobody

closing the ball down. Very similar to that. Ross County got the ball

and put it back in, broke to the edge of the box and that was very

similar to the goal there from Scott Brown. MacDonald makes a fantastic

save, breaks Anthony Stokes on the byline. He's got ten yards of space

but he's not quick enough. They are too slow to react. They don't get

out into Scott Brown's face and make it difficult for him. He has still

got two yards before anyone is on him to get a left foot shot off him.

That is just not good enough. Bike back row the home dressing room door

is still bolted shut. We will hopefully get a word before the end

of the programme with Gary Locke. You've been a manager of a team

dismantled, destroyed by Celtic. You will have some sympathy for him. A

huge amount. I hope he is in there not slaughtering these young lads,

I'm sure he's not, I'm sure he's trying to convince them, as Michael

rightly said, the gulf between this Champions League team and this young

Hearts team is huge, and this result was possible. At no point did that

Hearts team today throwing the towel. They weren't beaten 7-0

because they didn't try. They get a grips with Celtic's shape. I think

he has to go in there and explain that to them, to give them a

justification. Why they can go out next week and expect to win. They

are not playing Celtic will stop Dundee United are in great form but

they are not the Celtic team they played today. They kept running in

the game, they need to take that to the next game. Let's hear from Gary

Locke. An afternoon to forget or want to

learn a hard lesson from? A bit of both. We need to try and get it out

of our system as quickly as possible, though we've got a lot to

learn from it. We lost a two goal at the start of the game. We are young

side but we were completely outclassed today. Was it basically

down to naivete? I don't think so. If you have world-class players and

you give them a lot of time on the ball they will hurt you. We did not

get close to them at all. I know they passed the ball well and moved

quickly from side to side and in and around the box, but we've got to do

better. As much as trying to get closer to people. The writing was on

the wall early on. As a coach, did you have your head in your hands?

I've said all along, one of my worries this season was having such

a young side, we knew we were going to be on the end of a result like

that. One of the things is we've got to learn from it, pick ourselves up.

We are out of the cup, but we will try and stay in the league. It was a

harsh lesson for us today. Celtic were outstanding. There's a lot of

lessons to be learned. Only time will tell, but what do you think

this will do psychologically to that young side? It's not great for us.

One thing we can't do, we can't feel sorry for ourselves. It's important

that we learn from that. You have seen the way that Celtic passed the

ball, the way they worked off the ball. They were playing with a lot

of confidence and have world-class players. But it's important that we

learn that harsh lesson today and respond in the might -- right man at

Tannadice next week. And I supposed evidence of how big a rebuild is

needed at this club when it finally gets on its feet. I'm not going to

stand here and make excuses. I can only apologise to the supporters for

that because they didn't deserve it. But we are where we are. We are a

young side, 14 outfield players, the average age of the team is 19. Even

with a really experienced side, they would have been up against it today

because Celtic played that well. There's nothing we can do about

that, but we can't feel sorry for ourselves. I've told the players

that. We come in tomorrow morning dust ourselves down and make sure

that we respond in the right manner next week. He doesn't hide away from

the grim reality. He faces the music. Is there a fear about damage

done to these young Hearts players? The time to evaluate that is at the

end of the season. There is a very real risk that there can be. I was

talking about, remember Gordon Strachan talking about when he was a

youngster at Dundee and had thought of himself as a top player. He came

against a really good Hibs team and got a doing. He said it took him two

years to get over it. Sometimes you can be affected as a youngster, you

are formed by your experiences. The risk is some of these youngsters,

who are undoubtedly good players, are going to have a lasting effect

from not just games like this, but throughout the season when they are

going to come up against it. That's the real risk that Hearts find

themselves with. There's nothing they can do about it, there's no

alternative. Gary Locke has got a really difficult task in terms of

trying to balance out not being too hard on them and trying to keep

their heads up, and make sure their futures are continuing to be bright.

The confidence of youth may be the best thing to have in these

circumstances. That ability to bounce back. That's an asset that

young player s bring. One of the things lacking in couple of

experienced players. If you had one or is a couple of experienced

players. If you had one or two that could pull it all togetherand it was

going wrong, pulling it on the pitch, they don't have that, they

are all out there as inexperienced players, they don't really know how

to change it out there. They really need a little bit of experience

brought in to help them. But they have any -- and they could go on to

have a decent season. 7-0 Celtic in that match. Let's have a look at

special and so enjoyable for everybody to watch. Manager James

Ward will need that smile surgically removed from his face! It's just a

shame that because of safety reasons that couldn't be played at

Cliftonhill. I think it will be surgically removed from his face if

tomorrow they draw Celtic, after today. They will be watching the

draw with interest. Even if it is a draw like that, Celtic at Parkhead

would be a fantastic draw for the likes of them. Queen of the S.

Knocked St Mirren out of the league cup. They've got a replay in the

Scottish Cup to come. It's going to be at Paisley. This was on the

artificial surface at Palmerston. Twice behind, Jim McIntyre's team,

twice they came back. The one thing we were talking about as well that

is quite intriguing to see, the number of games in the cup that are

on the artificial surfaces. This is another one here. Queen of the

South, they will be going to St Mirren park full of confidence.

Disappointed to see a former colleague of mine, a really good

goalkeeper, disappointing to see him at fault there. That's a rare

mistake, he's been really good for St Mirren. This is a really good

goal from St Mirren. Nicely worked down the left. A good finish. A

horrendous moustache. How much is familiarity with an artificial like

that a factor in a result like this? Is a factor because they will train

on it more often. St Mirren and the other teams have come up against

this occasionally. Of course you need preparation for a game on a

surface like that, you have a couple of training sessions on it. But,

generally speaking, a lot of these teams will be playing on it all of

the time. It gives them an understanding of it will stop it

gives them confidence that teams who play on grass don't necessarily

have. Hibs threw at the first time of asking. They won in Dingwall

against Ross County. It was Terry Butcher's first win as Hibs manager.

Composed finish. A notable difference for Hibs is there is Liam

Craig, right on top of the ball in the box. Hibs have been accused of

not having enough do about them. That's something that wouldn't have

happened under Pat Fenlon. Winning the ball high up and sliding a good

ball through to Hanlon, who finished it well. This is the first yellow

card for Paul Kenny, for alleged time wasting. I think it was time

wasting. They were winning at the time. He clearly thought that... You

don't know how often in the game previously he's been guilty of it or

if he's been warned. I thought the referee was entitled to book him

there. It became significant because he was yellow carded again here with

this one. This is a great run. Really positive run, which is

another thing Hibs have been missing. I think it is harsh. Mark

Brown get enough of the ball that it's not a penalty, but that is one

of those instances where you can have an incident that is not a

penalty, the guy has gone down and it's not a yellow card. Mark Brown,

the ball deviates enough. But there has definitely been contact there.

What is not recommended is falling out with Terry Butcher. He came on

as a soap, then he was taken off. There was the reaction. The wagging

finger looked pretty serious from Terry Butcher. A difficult decision

for a manager. I once did it at Motherwell with Steve McGarry. We

had to make a change. It became light-hearted and I'm sure they will

deal with that. The boy will understand why the substitution was

made. Reflections on what has happened here today. A stunning show

from Celtic. It was. Gary Locke mentioned that even an experienced

Hearts team would have been up against it today because Celtic were

on top form. Neil Lennon said it was probably best that -- best he has

had under his stewardship. I don't think it would have been a 7-0

school with an experienced team, but it could have been an easy win for

Celtic. Not surprised at all. I thought Celtic in the first half, I

was so pleased to be here. It was a brilliant performance, to see it up

close was fantastic. We will be rounding up all of the Sunday
