more. It's been seven years since her husband went missing. Now I | :00:29. | :00:29.
more. It's been seven years since Hello! It's been a record`breaking | :00:30. | :00:31.
start to the new Super League season. There were big crowds and | :00:32. | :00:35.
some big scores, as a dozen teams set out on the road to Old Trafford | :00:36. | :00:39.
over the last few days. Warrington's Richie Myler and Robbie Hunter`Paul | :00:40. | :00:42.
have joined us to review the best of Round One. Here's what's coming up. | :00:43. | :00:49.
Start Your engines ` Warrington and Saints get into gear for 2014. | :00:50. | :00:56.
It's opening night in Hull. The Black and Whites must pass an early | :00:57. | :01:00.
French test. And beware of the beast ` | :01:01. | :01:07.
Castleford's top try`scorer on the Tigers targets. | :01:08. | :01:16.
Warrington celebrated ten years at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on | :01:17. | :01:21.
Thursday night. Nathan Brown's new`look St Helens were their | :01:22. | :01:25.
opponents. Both teams are looking to go one step further than they have | :01:26. | :01:29.
done in recent years. Between them, they've lost the last seven Grand | :01:30. | :01:35.
Finals. They cannot believe what has just | :01:36. | :01:41.
happened... It is Wigan! It is a look of bitter disappointment. | :01:42. | :01:42.
Battered and bruised. And with the short pass. Here comes | :01:43. | :02:37.
Michael Monaghan. Are going wide! Finishes in the corner! Two minutes | :02:38. | :02:42.
played and Warrington already have an opening score. Conceding very | :02:43. | :02:52.
early in the opening game of the season. Good effort. Lomax, the | :02:53. | :03:08.
fullback, is in the line. Oh! What a pass! Still had to dive to finish. | :03:09. | :03:16.
But the flick from Jordan Turner was sensational! A suggestion it might | :03:17. | :03:22.
have been forward. Take nothing away from the quality! Terrific. | :03:23. | :03:31.
He is going to have a go. He has flipped it away and Walsh has picked | :03:32. | :03:40.
it up. Stepping off that left foot and testing that Warrington defence. | :03:41. | :03:42.
They are not to be found wanting. Nobody saw him coming! Leapt to pick | :03:43. | :04:00.
his own line and has started in for Saint Helens' second try of the | :04:01. | :04:07.
night. Into double figures with 60 minutes played. He is going to go | :04:08. | :04:13.
for the kick... He is behind the 40 metre mark when he lets fly with | :04:14. | :04:19.
that! It is tantalisingly good! It just bounces on the line! It is a | :04:20. | :04:25.
spectacular 40`20 from Luke Walsh. Who announces his arrival with a | :04:26. | :04:32.
moment of absolute kicking perfection. | :04:33. | :04:39.
A little bit of a stumble but has picked himself a decent position. | :04:40. | :04:50.
He will try the muscular route but there were plenty of defenders. Oh! | :04:51. | :04:57.
Has he got it down! It looked very innocuous! Asking for the replay. | :04:58. | :05:07.
Lots of defenders there and it was almost too easy in the end! Try | :05:08. | :05:14.
confirmed! Three tries in seven minutes for Saint Helens, and he | :05:15. | :05:22.
might well be! Here is Walsh, who is having a splendid evening tonight. | :05:23. | :05:26.
Close enough. Two runners down! The referee is not | :05:27. | :05:42.
sure. No, he has had a look and it will be another video decision | :05:43. | :05:47.
required. Is there enough there to suggest the ball has hit the | :05:48. | :05:54.
ground? Yes, there was! Saint Helens underlining their dominance. | :05:55. | :06:01.
It is Gareth O'Brien who hoisted that one high and it has hit the | :06:02. | :06:08.
post! He is quick to it and when he gets there, it is a try. He has | :06:09. | :06:15.
finished some classics in his time but all he had to do here was | :06:16. | :06:18.
captured touchdown because O'Brien's boot had finally unpicked | :06:19. | :06:25.
things but not without an awful moth of good fortune! Well, if you plan | :06:26. | :06:30.
to that, it was spectacularly good. `` an awful lot. Looking as though | :06:31. | :06:38.
they are very much still in control of their emotions, and Tony, | :06:39. | :06:42.
likewise. Saint Helens still in the box seat. He has the pace! Enough | :06:43. | :06:54.
defenders back there to make sure it is a cul`de`sac into which he runs. | :06:55. | :07:00.
He held it back into the middle and here comes Lomax, looking to the | :07:01. | :07:06.
bridges. A pick`up and a turn! And in at the corner! Saint Helens with | :07:07. | :07:13.
another! As long as the grounding is OK. A touch in goal is what they are | :07:14. | :07:22.
looking for. This will certainly be their night and there is nothing | :07:23. | :07:26.
wrong with that. Absolutely spot`on! There can only be one decision and | :07:27. | :07:30.
it is a tri`! Saint Helens are running riot at times! `` it is a | :07:31. | :07:39.
try! First much experience for Warrington. And Walsh is a way! To | :07:40. | :07:49.
cap a wonderful debut. His kicking game has been outstanding. And just | :07:50. | :07:54.
to make it even more memorable, he will pick up the easiest of | :07:55. | :07:58.
interceptions and, unopposed, run for a debut try. He is a name we | :07:59. | :08:05.
will be talking about an awful lot, I am sure, in the weeks and months | :08:06. | :08:06.
ahead. I'm sorry to make you relive that. I | :08:07. | :08:16.
am sure that is a game you would like to forget. No, that will stay a | :08:17. | :08:22.
bit bitter in the tail for a long time. A quality side. | :08:23. | :08:27.
They played really well and knew how to beat us in that game and, | :08:28. | :08:33.
unfortunately, we weren't good enough. What is being focused on | :08:34. | :08:39.
after the game? I didn't play too great! It is never a good thing. You | :08:40. | :08:44.
have got to say some credit to Saint Helens. They came over with a game | :08:45. | :08:50.
plan and their way of playing. Nigh on perfect, so they did really, | :08:51. | :08:56.
really well. A tough time at the start of last season. How was it for | :08:57. | :09:03.
you? It was perfect. Great to see what Brown brought to Saint Helens. | :09:04. | :09:08.
A very dynamic type of offence, and especially attacks, and he has a lot | :09:09. | :09:12.
of players moving in numbers and it makes it even doubly so when the | :09:13. | :09:16.
forwards get good purchase. They were just punching holes into | :09:17. | :09:20.
Warrington's line, giving their harvest time and space to move. What | :09:21. | :09:25.
did you make of Luke Walsh because he was a big and important signing? | :09:26. | :09:30.
You can see here is a smart player. He enjoyed having that space and | :09:31. | :09:34.
time on the ball. You can see that. He came into the game at the right | :09:35. | :09:40.
times. In this game, you know, he didn't need to because the players | :09:41. | :09:44.
around him were doing their jobs properly. He was able to find a | :09:45. | :09:48.
couple of good kicks in the game. This, you probably put down to a bit | :09:49. | :09:52.
of miscommunication from Warrington's point of view. `` he | :09:53. | :09:57.
probably put. But I would like to see when the game becomes a bit more | :09:58. | :10:01.
physical to see exactly what he can bring to the table when he is taking | :10:02. | :10:09.
the line on. Warrington didn't have any time and space on the ball, so | :10:10. | :10:13.
that makes a big difference when you are a halfback. Saint Helen Scott | :10:14. | :10:20.
purges, Warrington didn't. That was the difference. A great debut for | :10:21. | :10:25.
him. He has come into a side and they are reaping the rewards from it | :10:26. | :10:29.
and they turned on us in our own park, which is never a nice thing! | :10:30. | :10:34.
There was one high tackle in the match. No charge. Has there been a | :10:35. | :10:41.
shift or are we just picking up on something? We were talking about it | :10:42. | :10:49.
downstairs. You see these flows of referees and it is like they get a | :10:50. | :10:51.
mandate at the beginning of the season. This is 1... You can see | :10:52. | :11:01.
that is the referee's camera as well. Not saying anything against | :11:02. | :11:06.
him but he has a perfect view, he is right behind the tackling, and for | :11:07. | :11:10.
me to hear another referee say on television it was a sending off, it | :11:11. | :11:16.
has been missed by a couple of people and he could have got it from | :11:17. | :11:20.
elsewhere. And I think the point that we can make here is, sometimes | :11:21. | :11:25.
referees are given a mandate at the beginning of the season. If there is | :11:26. | :11:29.
any high shoulder, I am ready going to knuckle down, send them down | :11:30. | :11:32.
straightaway, make it clear straightaway. In other years, they | :11:33. | :11:37.
are focusing on other areas of the game. That's make sure the plays on | :11:38. | :11:44.
the ball are clean. So maybe we will see them get a bit tightened up on | :11:45. | :11:48.
that. We shall see. It was time for the talking and the | :11:49. | :11:52.
spending to stop in Salford on Sunday, as the expensively assembled | :11:53. | :11:55.
Red Devils and owner Marwan Koukash had their first game of the new | :11:56. | :11:58.
season. Their opponents were Wakefield, who've seen plenty of | :11:59. | :12:01.
changes of their own during the winter months. | :12:02. | :12:07.
A record crowd of just over 7000 on hand to get a first look at the | :12:08. | :12:11.
brand`new red Bulls. Expectation amongst the locals was sky`high, | :12:12. | :12:16.
though Wakefield, with their own winter overhaul, were not simply | :12:17. | :12:20.
there to make up the numbers. The two teams coming onto the pitch at | :12:21. | :12:27.
the moment and it is a slow walk up! Just how super will the Super League | :12:28. | :12:30.
turn out to be for the Salford Reds have all is? | :12:31. | :12:37.
The chase is on and that will be a drive. Third! The Red Devils with | :12:38. | :12:42.
the lead! `` a drive forward. A Salford try! A little step by | :12:43. | :13:01.
Smith... Turned it inside. Another Salford try! | :13:02. | :13:07.
The second half was a complete contrast to the first, as the | :13:08. | :13:11.
Wildcats got back into the game. However, that first missed of two | :13:12. | :13:17.
conversion attempts would ultimately prove costly. | :13:18. | :13:21.
COMMENTATOR: He is in right behind the sticks! Salford are in trouble! | :13:22. | :13:29.
Lauer tiki driving from the corner! Big defensive effort! The referee | :13:30. | :13:36.
has given it. But Salford held on, bringing a huge sigh of relief for | :13:37. | :13:40.
all of their supporters. Their future feels a whole lot | :13:41. | :13:43.
brighter. Mixed emotions because I've felt we had more than enough | :13:44. | :13:47.
opportunities to win the game. And that second half performance was | :13:48. | :13:53.
outstanding. But I felt we could get this together. We were very, rated | :13:54. | :13:57.
in the first half and we just went away from what we were doing so | :13:58. | :14:02.
well. We didn't have any ball away as a result of that. | :14:03. | :14:07.
Important for Salford to win? I think it really was. With all the | :14:08. | :14:15.
noise, the highest profile and driven Super League club pre`season, | :14:16. | :14:18.
we know the reasons why for the colourful chairman and the owner | :14:19. | :14:22.
that they have and it was just said, that man there, there was a lot of | :14:23. | :14:25.
expectation on Brian Noble's shoulders. He had to come out and | :14:26. | :14:29.
prove the squad they had put together could compete and we saw in | :14:30. | :14:33.
the first 40 minutes that, yeah, they have got real talent within the | :14:34. | :14:38.
squad. You have got Rangi Chase putting in the kick and Tim Smith | :14:39. | :14:43.
coming into his own once Rangi Chase came off. They needed to show they | :14:44. | :14:48.
are for the full 80 minutes and Noble will be dus appointed `` | :14:49. | :14:53.
disappointed they allowed Wakefield back into the game. Wakefield lost a | :14:54. | :14:58.
huge amount of players. Tim Smith there on the opposition. A lot of | :14:59. | :15:02.
people were surprised how well they went? Is It is very inspiring forhe | :15:03. | :15:10.
Wakefield fans. They dug deep and to lose a player like Tim Smith, a lot | :15:11. | :15:14.
of the play went through him and to be on the opposite side, it is a | :15:15. | :15:18.
tough one. They came back well in the second half and that will be | :15:19. | :15:22.
encouraging and stuff for them to work the week after. They have | :15:23. | :15:30.
Jarrod Sammut to come in having left the Bradford Bulls? Wakefield were | :15:31. | :15:35.
professional. They contacted the club and everyone came to an | :15:36. | :15:40.
agreement where all parties were left happy to a certain extent. I | :15:41. | :15:45.
don't think it is a nice time for players to walk`out this close to | :15:46. | :15:50.
the start of the season, but the way that Wakefield took to it as a | :15:51. | :15:56.
professional outfit, I think, you have got to pay homage to them as a | :15:57. | :16:01.
club. You both played at Salford. 7,000 fans they had through there. | :16:02. | :16:06.
That bodes well? That's great. That's what the chairman has been | :16:07. | :16:08.
shouting about and that's what the club needs and the supporters want | :16:09. | :16:12.
and the big fanbase is what they need and if they can tap into that | :16:13. | :16:16.
and tap into that area, it would be great for the club. They have signed | :16:17. | :16:19.
some quality players. They have got big international players. So | :16:20. | :16:22.
hopefully they can keep doing the business on the field and the fans | :16:23. | :16:27.
will keep coming. We have seen wins for the Saints and | :16:28. | :16:33.
the Devils, let's see how everyone else got on. | :16:34. | :16:43.
Catalan calling, the Dragons are in town to turn up the heat. Will there | :16:44. | :16:52.
be glory for Castleford's Carney? Who else enjoyed a smiling start to | :16:53. | :16:56.
the rest of the action from Super League, round one? | :16:57. | :17:07.
It's been another turbulent week in the life of the Bradford Bulls who | :17:08. | :17:10.
lost another player on Friday as Jarrod Sammut left to join | :17:11. | :17:13.
Wakefield, following on from Gareth Carvell's move to Hull FC. | :17:14. | :17:16.
Robbie is Chief Executive of the club. To the outside world it has to | :17:17. | :17:20.
be said two players leaving in the one, it doesn't look good, does it? | :17:21. | :17:26.
It has been a tough week as well. That's not the type of adversary you | :17:27. | :17:31.
want. It creates confusion within the ranks of the players and creates | :17:32. | :17:35.
confusion on the terraces as well. I will say this, it was a tough week | :17:36. | :17:41.
because as I found out last week, sleep is over rated! | :17:42. | :17:47.
Is th it? Are any more going? No, I'm confident that everyone is set | :17:48. | :17:52.
in their ways. They have really bought into, I have got to take my | :17:53. | :18:00.
head off to Francis Cummins he has worked through this pre`season and | :18:01. | :18:04.
he knuckled in with the team. The players as well, they have had to | :18:05. | :18:07.
really bed down and you know what, they are all in it together and the | :18:08. | :18:11.
reality, the ethos they have now, if you don't want to be with the team, | :18:12. | :18:17.
they don't want you there. Where are we with the ownership? The current | :18:18. | :18:22.
team which I am a part of are running the club and running it to | :18:23. | :18:27.
the best of our abilities. There was the club, the club was put into a | :18:28. | :18:33.
period of time, we are on show. And effectively, it rests with the | :18:34. | :18:37.
governing body and the administrator. If another party is | :18:38. | :18:41.
interested, they have got to come and prove to the administrator that | :18:42. | :18:44.
they are better for the business than we are and better for the | :18:45. | :18:48.
creditors. Effectively, it is all over to them, but we're confident in | :18:49. | :18:52.
what we're doing. We are starting to bed down into the business and we | :18:53. | :18:55.
have got a number of really nice income generators lined up. Do you | :18:56. | :18:59.
think you will have a points deduction? I can't answer that. | :19:00. | :19:03.
That's down to the governing body, but we have publicly stated that we | :19:04. | :19:06.
are looking to work with all the creditors and whether or not that | :19:07. | :19:09.
bodes well for us from a points deduction point of view, we will see | :19:10. | :19:15.
how that pans out. I should imagine it was a relief to get down to | :19:16. | :19:19.
playing against Castleford? It was. It was a great game as well. The | :19:20. | :19:25.
scoreline really bodes well and in Castleford's way, but the game was | :19:26. | :19:29.
on the edge of a knife for 60 minutes. Both teams had their say. | :19:30. | :19:33.
Both teams were putting pressure on each other. Both teams came up with | :19:34. | :19:45.
fantastic play. At the end of the day, it is the team that gets the | :19:46. | :19:49.
most points on the board and Bradford were the dominant team for | :19:50. | :19:56.
about 60 minute,s, but it is an 80 minute game. What did you think of | :19:57. | :20:01.
Castleford minus Rangi Chase? They did play each other in a friendly a | :20:02. | :20:06.
couple of weeks early. They had more time on the ball. Bradford were off | :20:07. | :20:14.
the pace a bit. I think Finn had more time on his hands so that will | :20:15. | :20:17.
get harder as they go through the season. They looked very good. It is | :20:18. | :20:24.
call Cas in the last 20 minutes? Yes. Carney was a handful for the | :20:25. | :20:30.
players. They had some nice things, lucky things or when you have got | :20:31. | :20:34.
enough numbers, you make your own luck and Cas turned it on at the | :20:35. | :20:38.
right time. They got a grip of the game and they started dominating and | :20:39. | :20:42.
getting field position and they opened it up. They poured everything | :20:43. | :20:48.
on to Bradford. A couple of times Bradford could have got a grip of | :20:49. | :20:52.
the game, but he he with just `` but we just let the ball go. A few silly | :20:53. | :21:00.
mistakes allowed Castleford get a stranglehold on the game. Nice to | :21:01. | :21:16.
get back playing. Lovely. Justin Carney was the top try scorer for | :21:17. | :21:23.
Castleford last season. He known as the beast. I am not a fancied | :21:24. | :21:30.
player. I am too much straight down the line. Doing me best every time, | :21:31. | :21:34.
I get the ball I just go 100mph and hope for the best. You get in the | :21:35. | :21:39.
space and put him in one on one situations and you know he will be a | :21:40. | :21:43.
threat. We have got good quality and positions all over the field and you | :21:44. | :21:46.
want to get the ball to your better players and he is one of the better | :21:47. | :21:50.
players in the league. You will be a big part of our success this year. | :21:51. | :21:56.
We are hopeful that he will carry on where he left last season. | :21:57. | :22:07.
It is a great club and everyone is down to earth and that makes this | :22:08. | :22:15.
place home for me. I grew up in my country and I probably miss that | :22:16. | :22:19.
more than anything especially living over here and the weather. I grew up | :22:20. | :22:25.
in a country riding horses and I did a bit of rodeo riding, it is not a | :22:26. | :22:32.
big career that! You are only as good as the next. You can get very | :22:33. | :22:39.
hurt in those eight seconds. I wouldn't take that childhood away | :22:40. | :22:44.
from me again if I had my time over. When you watch him play, it is not | :22:45. | :22:48.
what you expect. You don't expect this real nice, mild, top quality | :22:49. | :22:55.
bloke. You expect this snarling, charging, individual that he is on | :22:56. | :22:59.
the field, but no, he is a great bloke. He is a pleasure to have | :23:00. | :23:05.
around the place. He gets cranky now and again, but no, he has been | :23:06. | :23:10.
fantastic for the club. I didn't know Darrel when I first came over. | :23:11. | :23:15.
I sat done and had a chat and he picked me straightaway. He knew how | :23:16. | :23:23.
I worked and I knew how he worked. We love playing for him. He played | :23:24. | :23:26.
the game before. He played it at a real high level. We respect that. He | :23:27. | :23:30.
knows what he is on about. He is smart. He is an exceptional player | :23:31. | :23:38.
and the fans love him. I went to a fans forum last night and somebody | :23:39. | :23:41.
asked me a question about him and the whole room lit up and that's | :23:42. | :23:44.
what he has done to the club. He is one of those players that you get a | :23:45. | :23:48.
sense from the crowd, as soon as he p gets the ball, there is a bit of a | :23:49. | :24:01.
raise, yeah, he is a special player. They came up with all sorts of | :24:02. | :24:06.
nicknames and songs. It is great support here. Castleford is a big | :24:07. | :24:12.
town. Especially for rugby, it is a real pleasure to play in front of | :24:13. | :24:17.
those guys. We have got a lot to prove with relegation. I don't know | :24:18. | :24:22.
the ins and outs of that, but it is a big year for Cas. We are hoping | :24:23. | :24:28.
for a top four spot. If we play how we're playing, we'll get there, | :24:29. | :24:36.
there is no doubt about it. Ritchie, have you tried to stop him? | :24:37. | :24:41.
You have got to lie down in front of him. He is so big and powerful and | :24:42. | :24:47.
he is out wide and out wide and defending on the wings. You have a | :24:48. | :24:52.
lot more space around players. He is getting that space and the size of | :24:53. | :25:00.
him and the power and... It is not even a fair fight! There was a | :25:01. | :25:06.
record crowd on Sunday. The Robins opened a new stand. For the | :25:07. | :25:10.
first`half this was tough, wasn't it? Yeah, the first`half, Hull | :25:11. | :25:15.
played Well Refreshed against them. It was really, really close. You see | :25:16. | :25:20.
the quality of Leeds. You don't know if he is going to run inside or | :25:21. | :25:26.
outside. Then he puts a kick in, unfortunately it was an error. This | :25:27. | :25:32.
is the replacement. That's a good signing. He has taken the line on | :25:33. | :25:36.
and it is a great try from him and the dominance from Leeds really | :25:37. | :25:40.
showed and they have got two flyers on this wing. And you will be out on | :25:41. | :25:47.
this side trying to stop Watkins? Those two guys can move at speed, | :25:48. | :25:52.
but they are dynamic as well. We were talking about Carney and when | :25:53. | :25:55.
he gets into space, that's what Leeds have got now on both their | :25:56. | :25:59.
edges and when they enjoy space around them, they creativity comes | :26:00. | :26:08.
alive. Leeds look like, Brian McDermott put together the finished | :26:09. | :26:13.
package. They know how to accentuate each others strengths and they seem | :26:14. | :26:16.
like on the right`hand side, they have got a strike force that can | :26:17. | :26:21.
score tries for fun. They look, they make it look so easy and scoring | :26:22. | :26:26.
Super League tries is not as easy as they are making it look. They are a | :26:27. | :26:31.
very, very good side. Now they have got that extra depth with Briscoe on | :26:32. | :26:35.
that wing and he can finish the try. The thing he brings to them is how | :26:36. | :26:41.
strong he is. He is very good carrying the ball and that's a big | :26:42. | :26:48.
plus for Leeds. It will be a big job for Hull, but he has got big shoes | :26:49. | :26:53.
to fill. Dobson used to direct everything. When Dobson was good, | :26:54. | :27:01.
Hull KR were good. During this game, obviously you can see, it is the | :27:02. | :27:06.
game has got away from them. The meeting of Hull and Catalan | :27:07. | :27:11.
brought together the youngest coaches in Super League. | :27:12. | :27:15.
Dave Woods was watching. Sanderson. They have got a few | :27:16. | :27:27.
numbers here, have they? Yes, the gap is created. Cordace is claiming | :27:28. | :27:38.
the try here. The referee wants a second opinion. It is all about the | :27:39. | :27:44.
grounding. It is a try. Confirmed. Catalan after 11 minutes. | :27:45. | :27:51.
A testing little chip. It is taken mid`air by Whitehead. They have | :27:52. | :28:02.
silenced the KC Stadium again. There are one or two roars of | :28:03. | :28:11.
approval. They get it away. Here is Hull and Whiting has picked the gap | :28:12. | :28:18.
and scored the try off the back of the run. | :28:19. | :28:24.
Henderson. It is Lyon Price. It is promising on this left`hand side and | :28:25. | :28:40.
an easier finish for Cardace. It is his second of the night. | :28:41. | :28:51.
Into the gap! Off`loads! And a try just before the break! | :28:52. | :29:07.
Just grabs him by the ankle. Ooh! Something untoward going on here. | :29:08. | :29:18.
The suggestion is that he twisted the ankle illegally after the tackle | :29:19. | :29:26.
was finished, and look at the pain. It is a penalty for the flop, as we | :29:27. | :29:32.
hear from the referee. And it is going on report, so he might have a | :29:33. | :29:34.
case to answer. A lovely pass from Rankin! Second | :29:35. | :29:56.
for the `` of the night for him! Rankin with a lovely ball! Want to | :29:57. | :30:03.
get on with it quickly. Here comes whiting. Lovely off`load from | :30:04. | :30:10.
Richard Whiting. And Rankin is turning it into something very good! | :30:11. | :30:14.
Never mind something very good! It is something very special! He's | :30:15. | :30:19.
going to go the distance! What a try that is from whole town FC! `` | :30:20. | :30:29.
Hull. It is one to live long in the memory! We're going to see a boot | :30:30. | :30:36.
here and it is Rankin who will set it higher. He gratefully accept the | :30:37. | :30:44.
gift! Jordan Rankin is having a golden few minutes, scoring tries | :30:45. | :30:46.
and making tries. Jordan Thomson has seen a bit of a | :30:47. | :30:57.
gap in which to run and has found it, and he will go all the way! | :30:58. | :31:03.
Wonderful! Great effort from Jordan Thomson! Appreciated by his | :31:04. | :31:06.
team`mates. Going wide where they've got the | :31:07. | :31:16.
numbers and they've got the pace as well! He has options right and left | :31:17. | :31:24.
and he is going to go inside! And they are on their way. Turning the | :31:25. | :31:30.
tide in their favour inexorably now, surely! | :31:31. | :31:36.
Catalan still hoping and still battling here. Taia will score and | :31:37. | :31:47.
there is a harm of discontent around the stadium now, though it still has | :31:48. | :31:51.
to be checked here. Obstruction is what they are looking for. You can | :31:52. | :31:56.
see Price gets the ball. They Catalan runner, so that should be | :31:57. | :32:04.
OK. And it is confirmed. There is still life in this game yet. | :32:05. | :32:12.
A cheeky little chip over the top! And he touches down! And if this is | :32:13. | :32:23.
given is surely confirms it will be Hull's night. Having a look at the | :32:24. | :32:30.
grounding. And that looks OK and the try confirmed. He has put it wide, | :32:31. | :32:41.
he has put it wide! That is six out of six conversions Hull have missed | :32:42. | :32:51.
in this half and that is a worry. Henderson has the ball, throws it | :32:52. | :32:56.
left. An air of desperation around Catalan now. A hat`trick for | :32:57. | :33:08.
Cardace! Early celebration! The question hanging heavy now is, is | :33:09. | :33:11.
there a possible comeback in the air? You bet there is! Back within | :33:12. | :33:24.
six points! 36`30 and still time on the clock! Henderson again. This | :33:25. | :33:32.
might be the last play. Chip by Bosc, collected by wood`mack... Wide | :33:33. | :33:46.
it goes. `` collected by Bosc. It has to be adjudicated. It is not a | :33:47. | :33:56.
knock`on, surely?! Looks good! It is a try! And the KC Stadium is | :33:57. | :34:09.
stunned. All eyes on Thomas Bosc. Can Catalan get away with a draw? He | :34:10. | :34:18.
misses it, it is a win for Hull. Bosc has put it wide! He can't | :34:19. | :34:25.
believe it! But Hull hang on for a tight victory. | :34:26. | :34:39.
And Lima has been charged for a grade D offence. Yes, a bit of a | :34:40. | :34:49.
goose step and around the fullback. Put one on the plate for his centre. | :34:50. | :34:54.
A great cutout ball from Rankin. Looks very dangerous. Goes right | :34:55. | :35:00.
through the middle, and then, had the speed and the foot speed to get | :35:01. | :35:06.
away because he had Price chasing him, so to do the fullback and then | :35:07. | :35:14.
outsprint one of the quickest blokes in the sport! A great ball on the | :35:15. | :35:19.
line. He sensed the centres and being able to put that right on the | :35:20. | :35:24.
money, as I say, that was great. They finally solve their problems, | :35:25. | :35:32.
do you think? Likewise say, `` like I say, he hopefully kicks on now and | :35:33. | :35:37.
gets that partnership going. But there have been halfbacks coming in | :35:38. | :35:40.
so hopefully he can cement his place. A helter`skelter game but | :35:41. | :35:47.
probably both coaches will be looking at the fence over the weeks. | :35:48. | :35:54.
Yes. Catalan really got into it. But then they died. Hull came into the | :35:55. | :36:04.
game, a bit like last year. There was relief for the London team they | :36:05. | :36:08.
had actually made it to the start line in the next. This was a big | :36:09. | :36:12.
score against them. Yeah, it has been tough for London and they only | :36:13. | :36:18.
put their team together in January. They have had to struggle to get | :36:19. | :36:22.
those numbers together. So it will be tough for them to work out their | :36:23. | :36:27.
combinations, get their systems in order defensively and | :36:28. | :36:31.
attacking`wise. So they are going to need some time before they get into | :36:32. | :36:35.
the flow of things but on the flip side, Widnes are good with that. | :36:36. | :36:42.
Really settling into this game. We talk about new halfbacks, how key | :36:43. | :36:53.
could their new addition be? They put a lot of tries on and scored | :36:54. | :36:58.
some themselves. That is a very big plus forward missed town. And that | :36:59. | :37:02.
continuity of having them play together. `` a very big plus for | :37:03. | :37:14.
Widnes. They looked ready good in this first game. It is also amazing | :37:15. | :37:20.
what a win like this... OK, we know that Harlequins haven't had the best | :37:21. | :37:24.
preparation but a confident win in a Super League match like this can | :37:25. | :37:29.
really kick`start your season. Your combinations come together really | :37:30. | :37:34.
well. It is in contact. Everybody knows this isn't the easiest stadium | :37:35. | :37:37.
in the world to go and play at the cost of the unique playing pitch. | :37:38. | :37:41.
And I think Widnes might be able to surprise a few people. We should say | :37:42. | :37:50.
Broncos, not Harlequins! What else to Widnes need to maybe move up, | :37:51. | :37:56.
make that top eight? I think Danny Tickle is a strong back row but, | :37:57. | :38:01.
like you say, it is getting the two halfbacks playing together. That is | :38:02. | :38:07.
the key to those two. Playing week in, week out. They are a berry | :38:08. | :38:12.
dangerous side and score some tough tries. A hard side to beat. London | :38:13. | :38:17.
going back to the drawing board and just get the players in? Vain to get | :38:18. | :38:23.
some time on the field, get their combinations worked out and come | :38:24. | :38:28.
together as a squad. So, round one of the first utility Super League is | :38:29. | :38:32.
complete, and before we leave you, let's check what is in store for the | :38:33. | :38:34.
teams in round two. Leeds against Warrington is the | :38:35. | :38:50.
standout fixture in League Two. The Super League show returns next | :38:51. | :38:54.
Monday night at 11:50pm in the North. It is repeated in the early | :38:55. | :38:59.
hours of Wednesday morning on BBC Two and will be available all week | :39:00. | :39:04.
on the eye player. Don't forget to follow the Thursday and Friday night | :39:05. | :39:12.
matches. Before we go, it has been confirmed Sam Burgess will move in | :39:13. | :39:19.
October to Bath. We don't know what Sam would have chosen to do but does | :39:20. | :39:23.
Rugby League need to look at hanging onto these key players? It is a | :39:24. | :39:29.
tough one. People are shouting about having that. Sam personally, he is | :39:30. | :39:34.
such an athlete and such a great sportsman that he should be taking | :39:35. | :39:38.
that challenge. It is a sad thing for Robbie league but for him | :39:39. | :39:41.
personally, it is a big challenge I hope he does well. But there is a | :39:42. | :39:47.
fear of losing players? There is but there is a couple of dynamics we can | :39:48. | :39:52.
look at and hopefully we can get it right. My thanks to you for your | :39:53. | :39:57.
contributions. That is it for this week. We will see you next Monday. | :39:58. | :40:00.
For now, goodbye. | :40:01. | :40:06. |
