Episode 12 Super League Show

We are a dozen rounds into the Super League season,

and there have been a bucket load of tries this week.

We've got six games to show you and if you've been studying the form

You've played in a fair few of those games, what did

I thought it was an exciting game for the fans to watch end to end.

I think there was some soft tries in there but also some

fantastic tries as well, some exhilarating tries,

They are getting their full strength squad back,

I think Leeds are still strtggling with injuries, but I do think

From watching that game, they've got a style of offensive

football that is different to anybody else in the leagte.

They can strike from anywhere and they play off-the-cuff,

You could see by his fellow team-mates, they were back on.

It was a long time for him to be out.

He struggled with injuries throughout his career.

The more he can get out on the field, I think

More than any thing else, he looks like he has kept hhs pace.

One thing when he's come back from a knee injury, you're worried

about whether he will have that same pace and speed off the mark,

but he seems to have kept it which is great for Johnny.

How much of a lift will this have given St Helens,

so quickly into the game, just five minutes

Oh, the whole stadium erupted, didn't they?

He'd come back, and everybody saw the light for him.

It might be a big boost for St Helens, going forward.

When do you think they will properly slot him in at full-back

I think he showed there he's getting ready to go on.

I think, certainly, maybe against Castleford next week,

but the week after that he needs to be back in that full-back spot

and doing what he does best - returning those balls back

Overall, how would you describe the defence in the game?

I think this is a hangover from Easter.

It's not the Friday, the Monday games that really affects you.

It affects you a few weeks down the line.

I'll be honest, it's a detriment to our game.

I think the standard of rugby goes down slightly the weeks

Leeds, Brian McDermott spoke with huge pride

It is a tough season, he knows that, but he is seeing progress?

I think they've accepted at the Leeds club that they've had

was of dishonest people being smoked out of the club.

That followed a Challenge Ctp defeat against championship side Oldham.

Rovers were looking for a rdsponse at Castleford on Sunday.

It was a great attitude and a change from where we have been at.

We need to be a tough side to play against any side that represents

And you could see we had that in bucketloads.

Which is why we were able to play the way we did,

and put to the sword a great side like Castleford.

And you had Albert Kelly back in there, and looking reallx

enthusiastic and beginning to run things.

Albert Kelly is a fantastic`lly talented player.

But he needs to be in the rhght physical condition to play.

He is now in the right physical condition,

He was absolutely outstanding that day.

That is down to the condition he is in now.

So, you've been working hard on him behind the scenes?

He has been working hard, I put the credit on Albert.

He has been working hard, as have the other players as well.

He has had some decisions m`de, and he stuck to it, which is why

really difficult for them, and you saw the kind of language

I think as a captain you ard allowed to talk to the referee.

That is one thing we have in our game.

It is up to the referee then to make sure he does not change his style

Is it something we may need to stop if there is a feeling that

I think a referee needs to be stronger than that,

The bottom line, do you think any of the penalties were unfair in that

are the form team in the competition. They were lookhng for a

seventh consecutive victory. The outcome was in doubt to the end.

The hike it was well taken. The lead did not last long. Simple p`ssing

from Catalan came to the centre A lovely pass brought in at the

corner. The seesaw nature continued. Salford going back in the ldad,

getting an easy stroll at the corner. Catalan hit back after a

great break. A step around defence meant a 30 metre run. The f`llback

defenders to get a pass awax. Catalan showed more crisp p`ssing as

strength despite tension. Again Catalan were not letting Salford

Not a vintage performance, but is it the old adage that champions teams

do win. They can win games when others on playing well. There was a

good battle. They played decent stuff. Salford don't have the

greatest of times against C`talans. They are a great side. They have the

team. 71 tries we have had this weekend. Is that good? Too lany for

the competition. You need to three from each side, that makes ` good

game. Tries need to be diffhcult to score and some have been easy.
