First Round Draw The FA Cup

Hello and welcome to the city of Bradford. One of the major stories

of last you's FA Cup was Bradford. We have taken a trip to West

Yorkshire with the season's cup proper just a couple of weeks away.

Phil Parkinson's side epitomised what this competition is all about.

Cup upsets and capturing the imagination. So, who will create

this season's headlines? Welcome for the draw of the first round of the

FA Cup. Welcome to Thackley Juniors FC in

west Yorkshire. Just like last year, we will take the cup draw around the

country and I can tell you that Thackley Juniors FC is an FA Charter

Standard Community Club. They have over 30 teams across 12 age groups,

and Matt Everitt is their chairman. With 70 teams and so many players,

you must play an important part in the community. We currently provide

football in a safe and fun environment for up to 450 children.

A growing section as the girls, that we are proud of. And our philosophy

is about creativity, ownership, allowing the kids to make their own

decisions and learning the game through play. We're now going to go

into Matt's clubhouse and talk to the current Bradford City manager.

Whilst we go in, here is a reminder of what they achieved last year in

the FA Cup. That was a belter! And Bradford City are heading into

the fourth round of the FA Cup! Jose Mourinho says it would be a disgrace

of his side are knocked out by Bradford City. Bradford City have

come from 2-0 to level it up at Stamford Bridge. He's looking for

the goal! This is to seal it. Another incredible cup season is

written in Bradford's city. Out they come to a wonderful Valley Parade

welcome. It's come all the way, it is deflected, Bradford City score!

He beats the goalie! Bradford City do it again. The Bantams reached the

quarterfinals for the first time in 39 years. Here come riding once

more. 3-0. There is no doubt Bradford City have been the standout

story of the season's FA Cup. Well, that was last season. The draw for

this season's first round will take place in around eight minutes time

so just after 7:10pm live on BBC Two. Just watching that in the

clubhouse, everybody smiling, you are still smiling. It brings back

great memories from last year. We had a great journey. Everybody

connected with the club. And Bradford enjoyed every minute of it.

The Chelsea win, is it still freshest in the memory? It has to be

because everywhere you go, people want to talk about that game. I

don't think we will ever get tired of talking about it. Ian, you played

here, and left here to join Bradford. Yes, it was a great club.

I have fond memories of playing here. I was only here for a year but

fantastic grassroots club. I went on to play for Bradford after and I

played in the top flight, so I was lucky. Do you think it could still

happen? It is rare nowadays. More rare than ever. A fuel lads have

done it. It is easy to do nowadays, really. I was fortunate, I think.

James Hansen was the last player you paid money for. I know you'll be in

this first round, but some of the non-league sides, you might be

looking out for players. Without doubt. I still feel there are

players out there who have slipped through the net for the top clubs.

And late developers, physically, and that can come back into the game.

There's been lots of examples over the years and I'm sure somewhere

along the line someone will sign from a non-meat club. The Straw will

be different because you'll be there to be shot at rather than an under

dog. Well, we drew Halifax a way which was a tough draw, so let's

hope it will be kinder to us this year. In the fourth qualifying

round, sporting council were the lowest ranked side left in the

competition. They took on FC United of Manchester, and this is what

FC for the draw of the first round of the Emirates FA Cup. Arsenal are

of course the competition holders after their 4-0 win against Aston

Villa in May. Many teams pulled shocks along the way including

Bradford City. We have 40 ties to be drawn this evening. Teams from

League 1 and two join the com petition for the first time ever.

Didcot Town are the lowest drawn team. FC United of Manchester and

Worcester City are also in this ear's competition. With me we have

Stuart McCall and Lee Robinson. Stuart McCall is well-known, playing

almost 400 times for Bradford City. He also played in the 1989 FA Cup

final for Everton, scoring twice but still ending up losing to their

rivals, Liverpool, in extra time. Lee is the secretary of Thackley

Juniors FC. They have over 30 teams and 12 age groups, and they are our

hosts this evening, and they have already been incredibly hospitable,

and there you can see the great work they do in their community. So,

Coventry, they are at Sheffield United. Didcot Town, the lowest side

left in the competition, they are at home to Exeter City of League 2 who

will have memories of losing to Warrington last year. FC United of

Manchester will take on Chesterfield. Wealdstone will take

on cultures to United in the final tie.

This is how you will be able to follow the FA Cup on the BBC. The FA

Cup is back with a bang with the first round on the BBC. The

fireworks begin with our live match on Friday night. Someone tonight is

Parkinson from a Bradford perspective, we said it could be

similar to last year and that is the case with Aldershot. Yes, a top

drawer but we will be ready for it when it comes. We will give them the

utmost respect and we know that if we are not on our game, it will be a

tough afternoon. Dave, I will let in, AFC Fylde, that is a tough tie

in stature and places to go. They don't come much tougher but we will

look to enjoy it and to win. We have an important league game before next

Saturday so we will concentrate on that and then look forward to an

eventful tie at Millwall. Let's talk to Danny Webber. Salford City at

home to Notts County. Delighted for everyone, all the work that everyone

has put in, it was important we got a league club and everybody will be

happy. Just to increase the profile and stature of the club? Definitely,

and for the lads to pit their wits against the league club to see where

we stand. Are you the kind of person they will pick your brains with you

having played league football? I would like to think they can draw on

some of my experience but in general it is a one-off occasion and

everybody will be up for it. Dion, from a Worcester point of view,

Sheffield United, similar to last season? It's a great draw. Doing it

last season against a League 1 team, the boys will be raring to go. And

the players that played will draw on that experience? Definitely, that is

what drove us through that last round, having that experience last

year of getting to the second round. Quickly, Tom, I'm going through my

list, you have Chesterfield. A few of our old boys play for them so

nice to catch up with them. Important to get a league club so

fingers crossed we can cause that upset for the you will be trying to

get some inside information? Definitely, we will be pitting their

brains but I'm not sure we'll get any! But fingers crossed, we can

cause an upset. And important to be at home? Definitely, I'm sure the

fans might have loved and away day but it is great to get us on the map

and fingers crossed we can give them a good game. Thank you very much to
