Good evening. It has been some week for the clubs, tend giant killers

are flexed their muscles in the League Cup. But thankfully for fax

machines and League managers, the transfer window has finally closed.

All that mattered today were league points. Steve Claridge run-making a

few of his own tonight. So far so good for the new Nottingham Forest

manager, unbeaten in three matches, all ready stamping his mark on the

side. This week they were at home to Charlton. It has been another

indifferent start of the season for Leicester City. They were blown

away by Burton midweek. They had a point to prove that the visit of

league leaders Blackpool. Yeovil Town I usually one of the

perennial favourites for relegation, but with Gary Johnson firmly back

at the helm, they have been the pace-setters. What is the secret?

new life into Nottingham Forest. The new manager O'Driscoll is

making his mark with a familiar brand of football. They were at

It was a very good performance from Nottingham Forest. A bit nervy at

the end, but considering all that has gone on in the summer, new

owner, a new manager, said the new signings in the starting 11, all

ready there is a real fluency about them. There is no reason players

cannot settle in. Charlton be did in many new players very quickly.

If you bring players in and you ask them what they are used to dealing,

not things they are not comfortable with, you change systems that don't

suit them, but if you bring them in and buy a right-back at right back,

no reason why they will not settle in quickly. If you want them to

play a certain way, which Sean O'Driscoll has been able to get

across quickly, we saw that with one of the goals to. The move from

reached. But that failed to knock Palace out of their stride. This

time, Wilfried Zaha are tied Jones up in knots before steering the

ball into the path of Glenn Murray. They will say he got it right,

which he did, but he changed the complexion of the game. He changed

the whole atmosphere around the place. The fans are now baying for

blood and we are on the back foot, we have been put on the back foot

by a decision that he should never have made. You cannot be doing that.

If he says to me he got it right in debut at least United. Rovers were

within a whisker of losing this one despite a stirring start. Olsson

gave Blackburn the lead. Nuno Gomes has seen more big games than most.

He added to his career goals. Leeds United cannot really compete but

have confirmed El-Hadji Diouf's services until January. He got them

back into the match. Ross McCormack's equaliser was better

looking. The momentum was firmly with the home side. Blackburn

buckled under the pressure and soon fell behind to Becchio. But Leeds

United could not hang on. Rochina did not need much room. It finished

3-3. A marvellous game. Two goals behind everybody would have written

us off. We have got to keep going. We feel a bit let down at the end.

Bristol City looked aside for Barnsley to fear. Barnsley decided

that Haq would be better than defence. They made light of their

continued lack of resources. When Davies had the goal in his sights,

the goalkeeper reacted quickly. Five minutes into the second have,

It was a busy transfer deadline day for Gianfranco Zola. Watford added

five more players. Derby County were looking to put an end to five

games for Wigan, Conor Sammon made an excellent first impression for

his new employers with a fine cole mack. Poor defending was to blame

combined to pull them back. It has been a week to forget for Watford.

I know it has not been a good game. We are disappointed and sorry for

the supporters. We will make up for that as soon as possible. We need

to make sure that we are a little bit more positive if we want to

Championship. Just as important was their ability to hold onto comments

and Matt Phillips. They put six past Ipswich last week. -- Tom Ince.

Next for them was a trip to Leicester, who have lost three in

all competitions. The latest was a humiliating defeat against Britain.

referee? I do now think that is a penalty. I think this one is. This

have been a couple of incidents which have went against Leicester

so far this season. It was not so much about the performance. It was

Last season Burnley had the edge over Brighton. This looked friendly

enough to start with, but there was a determination in Albion's racks

to change the pattern. Nobody looked more fired up than Craig

Mackail-Smith. That superb strike was Brighton's first goal in their

travels since March. Not that Bernie would make it easy. Charlie

Austin reminded Gus Poyet's men this match was far from decided.

Coyle demanded a performance by his team after their humbling midweek.

That is what he got. Chris Eagles got the first game -- goal. Sony

Aluko scored his first goal for the club. More poor defending led to's

second. Three minutes later Stephen Quinn capped an impressive home

debut with a goal of his own. He could hardly miss 24 hours after

signing from Sheffield United. Balkan's indecision was exploited

when Simpson ran on and the referee failed to gather the ball. We have

played some really good stuff today and we have got good, big

performances from individuals making their debuts and it has been

a good day for us against one of the favourites. It is a decent

start. A frustrating 24 hours for

Huddersfield boss Simon Grayson after attempts to sign Jermaine

Beckford fell flat. They were desperate to find a replacement

after losing Jordan Rhodes. The fragile defence was breached again

nine minutes before the break, Adam Clayton driving the visitors into

the lead. Daryl Murphy headed into the path of Luke Chambers, his

first goal in 17 months. It gave the home side the momentum. Michael

Chopra then made the finish look simple. His second of the campaign.

With 10 minutes left Danny Ward found space down the left and

provided the perfect cross for James Vaughan. It was a frantic

finish and Ipswich went for broke. But Michael Chopra or rattled the

post. Then a terrific run from Adam Hamel had the Ipswich defenders

back-pedalling. Jack Hunt's surge into the box was cut short by

Murphy. James Bond then had the chance to grab the headlines. But

there was one final piece of business to take care of. James

Vaughan was denied for a second time and both sides had to settle

for a draw. To come here and get a point against a good team shows

that we are doing OK. It was hard to work out which manager was under

pressure. There will be a measure of relief before Lee Clark now that

Birmingham are up and running. On another day this effort would have

crept in. The goalkeeper was well beaten. The only goal also had more

than an element of good fortune about it. Robert Olejnik put just

enough backspin on it took out foxed everyone. It is not that the

Blues did not create chances, they just did not take them. Greg

Eastman's follow up spoke volumes about the sort of game that this

was. This is their worst start in 14 years. In a match between two of

colour sides it was the blues who got the lucky break. We are looking

for the first win of the season, and you take whatever comes. What

you can tell that he is on top of his game. He has certainly got his

confidence back. He had a good start to the last season. He tailed

chances like that. They have also added Stephen Dobbie. It will keep

knocked the ball around, so his next club will be Nottingham

Forest! We saw Hull scoring three against Bolton. For Bolton is it a

case of carrying over the negativity from last season? I do

not know, maybe it is a rude awakening, this is a tough division.

They have got a few players that could serve them well at this level.

They will be scratching their heads. They have got to cut out the

individual errors. They will have expected better. They will not want

to finish where they are now, that is a certainty. But you do not have

to win every game. A Reading last four of their first six Games and

look where they are. Yes, they stick a couple of results together

and everything is different in a couple of weeks' time. Next to

League One and Gary Johnson seems to be working his old magic at

Yeovil Town. They have carried on where they left off, storming to

the top after their first three Games. We meet the man himself.

This was a fantastic first half display, Sheffield United were

applauded off the pitch. But the points were far from safe. Lee

ended up, brought one or two in, they looked in good nick. It is a

tough job, because of all the pressure, the expectation on the

club. And they brought in Kitson, an interesting acquisition. Maybe

plenty of goals to come for him. Brentford have struggled for

consistency, they have put in two in different performances before

the Saddlers could have done without seeing this thunderbolt

bouncing off the bar. They needn't have been concerned. Their tenacity

opened the way for Paterson to put the home side in front. And Dean

Smith's team gave Brentford no chance to regain their composure.

Brentford could hardly believe it, but they hammered five past Crewe

Alexandra last time, so this was still far from over. They looked

for a way back and rattled the woodwork. The home side's nerves

began to jangle. The accuracy of Jonathan Douglas had the Londoners

back in with a shout. Just before the final whistle, all they could

do was look to the linesman and hope. But there was no flag.

where they have struggled at this level, but I think they will be OK.
