Evening. Or should that be morning. There is nothing quite like kicking

off the new Football League season with a bang. Saturday has already

seen a third round of games, and the early signs point to the

Championship being as competitive as ever. With just five teams of

the 72 desperate to register their first points of the season. With me,

hoping to make points of his own is Leroy. Yours what is coming up. --

here is what is coming up. You would think the pressure on Steve

Kean was letting up after a draw and a win but not chance. On

Saturday, his team faced one of the pre-season favourites for promotion,

Leicester City. There was relief as Bolton registered their first win

of the season against Derby. Find out whether they could follow that

up with another East Midlands scalp. After failing to build on their

opening day come back, Gianfranco Zola's Watford will be finding that

winning feeling at Birmingham. And in his first full season as a

manager, Chris how all led Charlton Athletic to a League 1 title. Might

his team be able to capitalise on the feel-good factor to be the

third team in three years to win back-to-back promotions? We start

tonight with Blackburn, why readjusting to life in the

Championship after 11 years in the top flight. With friction between

the club and supporters, for Steve Kean, it is all about winning games

as he tries to appease the fans -- the fans. Could he oversee a second

the fans. Could he oversee a second home win in four games? Blackburn

supporters voted with their feet on Wednesday as their victory over

Hull was watched by the club's lowest league crowd for 20 years.

Many are not ready to consign last season to history just yet.

Blackburn's only scorer so far this season, making his debut. He is

joined in attack by Nuno Gomes. Bruno Ribeiro makes his first start

on the opposite flank. Andy King's reward for two calls from the bench

is a start for Leicester. Jermaine Beckford drops out. David Nugent is

preferred. Despite four points from the opening two James, Steve King

knows that he remains a man under play by Marshall. You will not see

gift from Scott Dan. It was a hopeful ball forward. Scott Dan

never got enough on the past. It was a cool finish from Vardy. He

has scored 34 goals in the Conference last season, but the

Championship is an entirely different matter. That is a very

have been inches away from a penalty. It was a tangle of arms

and legs as much as anything else. It will be Marshall. Konchesky! It

is off the line by Murphy, he gave away the free kick, he concedes the

corner. Leicester knocking on the door again. Konchesky, all the way

Jamie Vardy again! But de Gaulle has not been given. The flag was up

for offside. David Nugent clearly is not aware of it, but Nigel

Pearson is. An excellent ball in. Jamie Vardy may believe he was on

the shoulder of the final defender Pedersen with some Premier League

quality to light up Ewood Park. There is a rarity, Steve Kean

smiling. Morten Gamst Pedersen may be making the point to some people

here at Blackburn who believe that his time should be coming to an end.

He brought it down superbly. He found the opportunity and finished

season since they were last promoted in 2001. Just for once,

those Blackburn fans can celebrate. Full-time here at Ewood Park, Black

Leicester City 1. We knew it was going to be hard. I do not think we

played to the rhythm that we would like to have got into, but we kept

at it and when you have the quality players that we have got in the

squad, they can score special goals. I think we kept chipping away and

it is worth saying that it has been a long week but I think it is a

solid start. A four to Nathalie the a officials caught the headlines, -

- unfortunately today, the officials caught the headlines.

There was a player in the offside position, but Jamie body was onside

and scored a perfectly good goal. We get a little frustrated. It --

Jamie Vardy. The bottom line is that it is a disappointing four

days because we deserve an awful lot more than we got. We have to

deal with it. Nigel Pearson clearly feels hard done by and I am not by

us about this but we have some sympathy. Should that first

Blackburn goal had stood? It should not have. It was a fantastic finish

by Nuno Gomes, but if you look at it again, Pedersen is in line. That

is why Schmeichel dives so late. There are two Blackburn players

between him. If that is not interfering with play, I do not

know what is. It was a great finish but Schmeichel has no chance. There

but Schmeichel has no chance. There is not a Leicester player that

objects or goes for the linesman. By ironically, this one is tighter

for a start I think Nugent is onside. The first one was more

blatant. The flag went up by the blatant. The flag went up by the

the other end. Pedersen put away what was a terrific finish. Not bad

on to private -- prize assets, Blackpool are looking like the team

to beat in the Championship. Ian Holloway's side of the only club in

the division with a 100% record going into Saturday's games. We

Ipswich. You are looking at the star of Blackpool's latest success.

Being the son of a former England captain cannot be easy but it

his tally for the season but he refused to leave it at that. Four

minutes later he delivered a cross that led to the 5th. He added to

the spin, Blackpool are top of the pile. Dicko adding more to the

scoreline. But there was any one We are fortunate to have a man like

Tom Ince in form. The third one really killed it off, so I'm

delighted he's in that vein of form, them, Sheffield Wednesday find

themselves in the top two. Having marked their return to the

Championship with two victories and a draw, they might be wise to

target more than consolidation, especially with Germaine Johnson in

this form. His third of the season already. But Wednesday did not have

it all their own way. Osborne might have equalised five minutes later

but contributed the finish of a central defender. It didn't prove

costly. Millwall were level later. James Henry demonstrated a great

touch. Millwall came from behind to win at Peterborough in the week and

also had this one turned around by half-time. Henry slid it into

Trotter who added a classy finish. By Wednesday are nothing if not

resilient and are still unbeaten under Dave Jones, largely down to

the efforts of Nick Wells air -- Miguel Llera. And with Hills brat

making an almighty racket, Miguel Llera did it again, ensuring three

points and the 17th game unbeaten. Millwall are entitled to feel hard

We gave Sheffield Wednesday some problems. They have power at Sheppy

she's -- set-pieces. We came in winning a half-time deservedly

because we have the best of the last 15 minutes, but the second

half we applied the pressure and when you have this crowd behind

Duke you have something to shout they crossed the bridge to face

Bristol City in the early kick-off. Bristol City took the lead after

half an hour when John Stead, and Stephen Pearce and was there.

Cardiff, without Craig Bellamy, responded well. But all Mark Hodson

could do with hit -- was hit the bar -- Mark Hudson. On half-time,

Bristol City were 2-0 up. John stared into the path of Martin

Woolford. In the second half, Cardiff brought on Joe Mason with

immediate reward, heeding in -- heading in from Peter Whittingham's

corner. 3-1, but only after a fortunate rebound and Sam Baldock

had the rebound. But back came Cardiff to make it 3-2. Helguson

getting his first League goal for the club since joining from QPR

after Kevin McNaughton had a miscued. Could the Bluebirds fans

see the unbeaten run continue? No, because Bristol pretty -- Bristol

City made it four goals in three games, securing their own the

second league win over Cardiff in The bedrock of the performance was

hard work and we made life difficult for Cardiff. Have we

fully expect Cardiff to be up there, so that makes it extra special, to

make it -- Peter good side. -- beat What a way to open his account for

the new season with eight sensational firecracker of a goal

for Nottingham Forest. Just Bolton are level. Chris Eagles

scored here against Derby County on Tuesday, and three days later, he

has levelled the game for Bolton just before half-time. It comes

back out here with Forest wrong footed. The tempo it shows no sign

of abating. Ricketts towards Kevin all over the place. Davies Nick sin.

There is the finish. Martin Sordell will take that and claim his first

goal for the club. -- Martin move from Bolton. They are not the

lose. It would not fall for Sordell. I think Andrews had the best chance

in the melee. Lee camp is normally the post has scored. So this

tremendous game is now chock full like Sordell, he scores via the

last season. I have known Sean a long time and he is exceptional as

a manager. The team seems to be coming together nicely. He has done

really well. But there are other things that will concern him. I

think they let Bolton back into it. In a funny way the Bolton manager

will be disappointed. But when they A wonderful goal from Lewis McGugan.

He is difficult to close down because he let it run across his

body and it's a tremendous strike. In credibly, Blackpool have done

what they couldn't do last season, string three victories together,

but can they keep hold of Tomkins and Matt Phillips? Because that

will make a world of difference -- Tom Ince. I am 99% sure they will

do that. The chairman says they do not need to. What is the value of

Ian Holloway says they are on contract, and that is how it should

be. Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten in 17 and that has brought

the momentum through. These are exciting times. Early signs there

from Rhodri, and they are playing for each other. They have won their

last four away games, so I thought something would come up -- and

stuck with Millwall, but Dave Jones unbeaten, and he must be so happy.

Brisk or stress seat -- Bristol City struggling last week, and now

eight goals, what do we know? Managing a Championship club was

Hornets came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 but on Tuesday

they lost a home to Ipswich, so how would the new-look side respond

have to start performing, all of us. We have to start getting better

results and better performances. Better performances will get you

better results. We have to do that very quickly. I have been backed

fantastically to bring the players in that we have. Lee Clark clearly

deflated. Watford have six points from a possible nine. We got a

glimpse of what Zola is doing. The passing, that movement, he is

sticking to his blueprint. -- the movement. They had full control of

the game. The penalty help them. -- helped them. The second really

settled them down. Control the ball means control of the game. No win

for Birmingham after three games. How worried should they be? It is

very early. The thing that has frustrated me is that they have

never looked in at the chance to get anything out of the game. That

was the case against Sheffield Wednesday. And that was the case

today. There was no drive. After seeing Norwich and Southampton

reinvent themselves in Leek 100 -- and getting to the Premier League,

Charlton fans are hoping for the same. How far can they go this

season? We sent them to the valley. If supporters at the Valley thought

that the relegation from the Premier League was traumatic, the

years that followed 2000 and date had them pulling their hair out.

Instead of challenging the elite for a Champions League place, a

club record run of games without a win saw them back into the third

cheer for the first time in three decades. -- third division. And

their immediate return was thwarted by a penalty shoot-out. So the

revival under club legend Chris Powell, will lead them to the

League One title with a record number of points, has been all the

more sweet. It was an amazing year. First season in management. More

than 20 new players. We had a sensational season. But it is gone

now. We had a good close season. We celebrated. But we are back on it

now. A hard-earned point at Birmingham. And maybe should have

been three. Then we played a very good side in Leicester City on

Tuesday. Chris Powell? Legend. Amazing. He has been a blessing.

Great manager. Plenty of the busy Azam and motivation. Whip the

amount of money in the Premier League, I think most managers will

think, have we got enough? Have we got a chance? Cameo -- can we be

around that a top-six? It is very competitive. It is going to be very

difficult. It is a tough league. Like everybody else, I have been

studying the table and the fixtures. Can you do Norwich? I think so.

want the fans not to get carried away. We want to achieve and we

want to believe in what we're doing. I need everyone. Not just my

players and my staff. I need my supporters to go along with that as

apparently. I used to put him to sleep quite a lot when he was a

baby. That game put me to sleep a day! He needs to get his finger out.

Jordan Rhodes put all of these their fans looking for their first

win since gaining promotion. Their opener was controversial. Lynch's

header was allowed. With Jordan Rhodes in their line-up, others

that will always threatened. After 15 minutes, he hit the bar. He

scored 40 goals in all competitions last season. It was not to be their

day. David Edgar was given offside. In the 50th minute, Jordan Rhodes

gave Huddersfield their first home win over Burnley for 56 years.

Simon Grayson will be a relieved man when the transfer window closes.

From start to finish we were very good. We passed it well. But in two

areas to hurt the opposition. We defended well. -- we got into areas.

No doubt Wolves fans will be glad to see the back of the transfer

window. Having seen Steven Fletcher and Matt Jarvis leave this week,

the question on everybody's lips is, who is next? If reports are Crow

wrecked, Kevin Doyle could be on his way -- correct. Everton are

interested. Derby have made their worst start to the season in four

years. Jamie Ward was unlucky not to opened the scoring. If clubs are

looking at Doyle, he increased his price tag 10 minutes before half-

time. As simple finish had Molineux rocking. Despite that, Wolves never

really looked comfortable. In injury time, Robinson equalised. A

frustrating 24 hours for the new Wolves manager. It is always

difficult to lose two quality players so late in the transfer

window. We have to work hard to find a solution with new players

and rebuild the team. Middlesbrough sound a little -- sailed a little

too close to the wind against Crystal Palace. They dominated for

the first 20 minutes. Middlesbrough had all the chances but had to wait

until just before half-time for the opener. Heinz got the final off-

cutters. -- Syd Hynes got the finest of touches. Palace

demonstrated how not to build a defensive wall and the goalkeeper

was left hopelessly exposed for Zemmama to score. Four minutes

later, Germaine Easter was brought down in the box. His penalty proved

the catalyst for Palace's best period of the match. The Eagles

sensed an unlikely equaliser. It was far closer than perhaps it

should have been. Keep calm and carry on is the message from Tony

Mowbray. The whistle has gone, we won a two-to-one. Lot of positives.

-- 2-1. We had a very young side out there today. On the back of the

Barnsley game last week, when we were disappointed, to take six

points in the home games is great. Leeds manager Neil Warnock's team

have made a solid start. They made the early running against

Peterborough. Becchio scored his third of the season. Leeds work two

up after the half-time interval, Ross McCormack planting the perfect

chip onto Becchio's head. The travelling fans began to sense the

second league victory of the season. But when the showers cleared,

Peterborough pot some moves together, and suddenly Paddy Kenny

was called into action. From a corner, Peterborough did score.

David Norris failed to clear or safely and Bostwick pulled a goal

back. It is the first time poss have lost their opening three games

since 1972. Leeds have bounced back after their defeat at Blackpool.

You never get up to down if you lose, you never get too high if you

win. It is going to be one of those years. I have seen a lot of

promising things. I have got a good group of players. Leeds have a

large support. A lot of teams would have rolled over. We kept going and

going. They know they have been in again. It's as for Brighton and

Hove Albion to make their mark on the season after a slow start. They

went into this game as the only Championship side yet to score a

goal. It did not take them long to get the ball going. The goalkeeper

made a mess of the free-kick and Barnes scored. Wayne Bridge brought

his long wait to a close in spectacular fashion. The outlook

appeared bleak for a Barnsley side who had not tasted success on the

road since the turn of the year. The Yorkshire club were back in the

hunt for the points when they won a penalty. Craig Davies did the

necessary from the spot. His third goal of the campaign. Brighton went

straight down the other end to restore the two goal cushion. Craig

Nick Carle Smith was the scorer. -- Craig Mackail-Smith. He scored the

4th as well. Albion were coasting to their biggest ever when at home.

Barnes made sure of that, smashing in the 5th nine minutes from time.

I am pleased. It was a matter of time before we scored three or four.

It was a good day. As you can imagine, everybody felt happy in

the dressing room. I must mention the supporters who have travelled

all the way from Barnsley. They do not deserve that. I will apologise

for the inept performance from the Keith Hill apologising but

extenuating circumstances. He has been training with 13 players,

which is difficult. He expected better. But a result that sums up

the Championship. No goals in three League Cup games. And suddenly you

had five, including one from a player who has not scored in the

player who has not scored in the league for eight years. I think it

was a threat that seemed to work. What will happen when he gets his

striker? You just don't know. Huddersfield have been struggling

for goals but they got a couple on Saturday. Well done to them, their

first win after returning to the Championship. The questionnaires,

will they still have him this time next week? The Huddersfield

supporters want the answer to be supporters want the answer to be

yes. -- the question is. They lost Marcus Stewart and their season

capitulated. They should remind them and that Jordan roads has to

stay. Sher is pre- entertained surprise leaders Tranmere, having

flirted with relegation last year. There have won their opening two

games so could they make it three games so could they make it three

the early-season pace-setters. A terrific Mark Wright free kick

Canio's side took control early on. Jamie Collins was denied by a

superb save from David Martin. Injuries and suspensions meant that

Karl Robinson could not fill the bench. His personal problems

worsened when Dean Lewington saw red. This was the Dons's before

sending off in successive games. Lewington is no stranger to an

early bath. He can expect further punishment after appearing to

confront the 4th official. On the stroke of half-time, Swindon made

the extra man count. Martin was alluded. Collins was trying to

claim the final touch. A call and the man down, it was uphill

struggle for the Dons. And the millions -- Andy Williams nearly

ended with a finish. A single goal was enough and that was a club

record 11th home clean sheet on the bounce for Swindon. Aiming to get

their first points on the board this season, Scunthorpe were denied

the opening goal after a smart piece of work from Ed Upson kept

out David Mervin's header. The Oval new a win would give them their

best ever start to a Football League season and they went ahead

shortly before half-time. Marsh- Brown finished off a neat move. The

iron have not lost a match for... Reuben Reid opened his brother's

account just after the interval following another slick passage of

play from the visitors. Gary Johnson's pre-match assertion that

his team is full of goals certainly seems hard to deny. The substitute

was the next man in Army Act, Ugwu. This was the first of two strikes

that the 19-year-old backed in the closing minutes. The second owned -

- owed more to quick thinking from James Hayter. Johnson's men surged

to the top of the table and style. -- in style.

You would not think it from John Coates the's opener but Sheffield

United's progress is being hampered by lack of composure. -- John

Cofie's. The Manchester United loanee is still a diamond and the

rough. Look away, Sir Alex. This mess is not one you are young

striker wants you to see. The Blades were the better side in the

side -- in this one. Colchester barely mustered a short before

Clinton Morrison level the scores. -- a levelled the scores. It might

have been even better for the home side. On another day, this

deflected shot would have crept in. Not this time, though. The Blades

stay unbeaten but need more goals. Tony McMahon was denied just at the

death by Mark Cousins. The planes will see this as two points dropped.

More will follow unless the developing cutting-edge. -- they

develop a cutting edge. A solitary goal was enough for

Stevenage. A masterclass in how not to do fancy a bouncing ball proved

their undoing. Marcus Tagoe was pulled down in the penalty area.

Lucas Akins made no mistake from the spot. Stevenage remain one of

four undefeated teams only one. -- in League 1.

At this rate, Bournemouth will become everyone's banker on the

pools coupon as they have drawn 1-1 in all three of their leaf games so

far. Bournemouth were reduced to 10 midway through the first half. This

late lunge earned a second yellow card in six minutes. Despite the

setback, the Cherries are opened the scoring. Tommy Elphick glanced

in his first since moving across from Brighton. Graham Westley had

accused his side have not been clinical enough recently. Akpo

Sodje did his best to remedy that. After 49 goals in their colours,

Crewe did not need warning about the threat posed by Clayton

Two draws represent a good start to the season for a hastily assembled

Pompey squad but they were up against it. Jake Jervis scored 13

minutes into his home debut. Another McGovern delivery was

headed home after the break and Pompey fans might have wondered why

they had made the round trip. This thunderbolt was a rare moment of

promise. But when Kevin Long picked up a second booking six minutes

from time, the writing was on the wall.

But things are never dull when Pompey are involved. Four goals in

a remarkable period of added time. First, Ashley Harris popped up with

his first senior goal. With a boisterous support, they have less

than a minute to celebrate. Anderston saved well only for James
