got space and Ashley Barnes Barnes made it 5-1, equalling Brighton's

best win of the season. Still they weren't finished. Orlandi's cross

their last 10, Leicester were in danger of missing out in the play-

offs. No sign of anxiety when they drew level 11 minutes later. Dyer's

cross ended a slick passing move, finish by King. Palace were showing

their cutting edge, Dobbie's free- kicks were a constant threat. They

nearly got the lead going into the break. The theme continued in the

second-half. Another Dobbie set- piece delivered to perfection.

Wilbraham beat the keeper, but not the crossbar. This goal midway

through the second-half curling this effort past the keeper. While

the cameraman struggled to keep up with an end to end game, Palace

looked like -- likely to concede another goal. Chris Wood got his

20th campaign. Still all to play for in the race for the play-offs.

If we got a draw here on most occasions you would say it is a

decent result. I think there are still a lot of positives to take

forward into the last couple of games from today's efforts from the

players and we know what we have to do over the next two games. In the

dressing room it feels, oh, we might have got three points when we

got in front. We will take that and get on with the next three games.

Leicester dropping points gave bolt the opportunity to climb back into

the top six. They face Middlesbrough whose promotion

challenge fizzled out some time ago. There was no mistaking the side

with the momentum. Steele was force into a flying stop early on. Medo

went closer. He got a better save from Steele, one that the Bolton

man could hardly believe. This Eagles opener takes the business

kit cut.he will claim to be aiming for the far goner, Middlesbrough

will bemoan their good fortune. Six minutes later, Kieron Dyer was on

Eagles slipped in, but to Middlesbrough's display a penalty

was given and saw Woodgate as the cult operate. Sordell scored to

give Bolton an eighth consecutive win. Middlesbrough finished the

game with 10 men. Sordell got a yellow card. Bolton are back in the

play-off place and could secure their participation next week.

Credit to the players. I had high expectations. I believed in these

players. That is why I came to this club. They are showing their

qualities and determination to get into that top six. Right now

momentum is with us. Any Forest fans dreaming of box office draws

like Chelsea and Liverpool will be worried. Barnsley frustrated them.

us what they gave us today, I'm sure we will win the next two

matches. We weren't going to beat Nottingham Forest, we had to keep a

cleansheet. Mission accomplished. They certainly did, hit the

woodwork four times. What a great few days for Cardiff, were moated

on Tuesday after half a decade. Now, they have a title on Saturday. How

impressed have you been by Malky McKay? Last season he built a

really well organised team go the to the play-offs. They were

embarrassed by West Ham thesm reactsed postively to that. He was

given the backing and made fantastic signings along the staff

there they have worked extremely hard and deserved the credit they

The play-off contenders, Brighton six goals against Blackpool. The

most consistent side of those sides, alongside Bolton, six against

Blackpool is perfect timing? Ashley Bairns comes back, when he was

suspended we thought he might suffer. They didn't. He has led the

line. He has had a rest. Other plays have come back in to

supplement that squad. They are in a good place. His players are

looking tired. Let's look at the play-off contenders. Bolton have it

in their hands twofplt teams from four. Palace to Forest. I don't

know who will get in there. What will be a factor are players'

availablity. Palace have some back is going down to the wire, three

games to play. Wolves managed to climb out of the drop zone with a

win on Tuesday. Earlier today, they travelled to Charlton. Dean Saunders

called for another show of real character to follow that extinct

Brighton. With nine first team players injured or suspended, Wolves

were second best in a disjointed second half but they very nearly

side, Robinson did well to block the initial effort but there was

Jonathan Obika in the right place to fire home. Charlton have an outside

chance to make the play-offs. Wolves dropped back into the bottom three.

For us to score near the end, the fans are getting their moneys worth.

It is tremendous, three home wins after really struggling at home this

season. It leaves a good taste in the mouth for everyone connected

with Charlton. I would like to have got the job done today. We could

have had two games where we needed one result, but it looks like we are

going to need to. The fans of Birmingham and Leeds hoped to be

celebrating more than mere survival this year, but difficult campaigns

have left them grateful for small mercies. Morrison may only be on

loan but he has enlivened Birmingham recently. Blues fans will hope to

have another look at him next season. A blend of youth and

experience, City had the best of the first half. Hayden Mullins went

close. Leeds were looking for their third straight win under Brian

McDermott, but Ross MacCormack's free kick is the best effort they

could muster. Birmingham's age diversity brought them victory.

Teenager Nathan Redmond with the shot, Hayden Mullins, 15 years his

senior, making the most of the rebound. Leeds briefly threatened

and recall I -- equaliser but it was kept out. Not the greatest game and

not the best of seasons but plenty for both clubs to build on.

we've won two games. We can build now. It could go as far as 56 or 57

point to be save or even a third bottom team. -- safe. We have got

that out of the way and we can hopefully take maximum points to

finish as high as we possibly can. With 38 years in management between

them, Mick McCarthy and Dave Jones will hope next season continues

their record of success. For now, this is about securing a place in

with a division's form side and looked like being extended.

Wednesday's defence, Jay Tabb kept it simple, his first goal for the

club. Wednesday's defence was caught flat-footed. Chris Kirkland was at

three nearly forced an equaliser just before half-time. Leroy Lita

bought the best out of Scott Loach. Smith was on hand to clear.

Wednesday and Leroy Lita were not denied for long. The cross fell

perfectly and in went goal number five in 15 appearances. Leroy Lita

thought he had scored number six. The striker made his role look easy

but an official's flag ruled him offside. By the end, Wednesday were

again indebted to Danny Pugh. Aaron Cresswell's throwing was flicked on

and he was in the right place at the right time to secure an important

point. Ipswich set their stall out to defend and try to capture is on

the break, which should not happen to others but it did. You can't win

it and certainly can't lose it. After starting the season with seven

straight defeats, Peter Boro are making a strong finish in their bid

for survival dash Peterborough United. They were on the back foot

from the first whistle at pride Park. Craig Bryson broke through

before the break. The Ottl-macro -- the Rams were dominant. Chris Martin

doubled the lead with a neat turn and left footed finish, before

Richard Keogh rose highest. It was Derby's 16th corner of the

could not quite get to fellow substitute's Grant McCann's well

taken penalty. It never looked like being anything other than a

comfortable derby win. A well taken goal was ruled offside. Derby are

safe. Goal difference keeps Peterborough United above water for

now. My players have been magnificent, I will not criticise

them for one game even at this part of the season. We have had a right

go at it and most teams would be out of it after losing the first seven

games. It is still in our hands, which is pleasing. The worst goal

difference in the Championship saw Huddersfield start the day in the

relegation zone. That pressure brought the best out of the

Terriers, who outplayed Millwall. Jermaine Beckford was at the centre

of things. He forced a save out of David Ford early on. Jack Hunt was

unable to turn in the rebound. Blink and you'll miss Millwall's best

moment. James Henry curling free kick onto the woodwork. It was a bad

day for the Lions. Jermaine Beckford did a showstopping goal from a man

dubbed unstoppable by Mark Robins. Huddersfield showed greater energy

throughout and almost got a second before the break. Hunt was denied.

The Lions keeper had his world -- work cut out. James Vaughan was

running Beckford place for man of the match. He doubled the Terriers

league ten minutes in the second half. The Norwich Looney got his

tens of the season. Huddersfield three points clear of the drop zone.

The Lions have games in hand but will have to do a lot better than

this. The irrepressible Jermaine Beckford finished them off with his

register their biggest win of the season. It has Mark Robins all over

it. Bristol City have showed they are not going to throw in the towel

but his own club -- old club, Barnsley, Barnsley have everything

to play for, as have Huddersfield, so it is a big game. We have seen

Charlton continued their strong end to the season, unbeaten in six. What

a blow, for Wolves' survival hopes, winner in the 90th minute. Dean has

got to pick them up again. They are a club under massive pressure and it

is showing. He has lots of experience and it will be a

devastating blow if there were to go near League one. Wolves one of three

sides on 51 points. You have Peterborough. Barnsley, who got a

good point against Nottingham Forest. It is an encouraging point,

particularly after two demoralising results. It is a good result for

Barnsley to get a clean sheet at Nottingham Forest. They finished on

48 points last year and they were safe. It shows how much more

difficult it is to stay in the division. 51 points you would think,

would keep you safe. You need 55, or 56. The two teams that have come

down from the Premier League, Blackburn and walls, 18 years ago

the last side were Swindon who plummeted from the top flight to the

third tier. I think the reason why, they have taken their eye off the

ball. Both teams expected to bounce back and have made numerous changes

and it has not worked out. They will have to stay in this division if

they are to bounce back. How big was that point for Burnley? All the

focus was in Cardiff but Edgar Davids came up with the point that

lifted them, gave them leaving space. It has been a difficult job

for him but everybody who has been in has been such a concertina at

league, you think you are safe, you lose a couple of games you are out

of it. Despite being reduced to nine men and missing a penalty at Bramall

Lane, Brentford and a priceless draw on Tuesday to stay in the hunt for

automatic promotional. Next was the trip to Teeside to face Hartlepool,

who slipped through the trapdoor in over the top. The first slave for

kicks, the -- the proposed -- the promotion push. Luke James has

scored four Hartlepool United. They might be down but they have dealt a

huge blow to Brentford in their bid wonderful finish. Marcello Trotta

to slip into the usual rhythm. This shot cleared away by Jeff Hughes.

Their best effort of a lacklustre first half. It was Billy Painter who

returned to form with two goals at Crewe last weekend who was denied by

Christian peers. Doncaster through their veteran goalkeeper forward

late on but they need to avoid defeat in the automatic promotion

showdown with Brentford next Saturday. Ella Bobbin it was always

going to go down to the Brentford game, whatever happens today. It was

going to be Brentford which is key. We prepare ourselves for that.

been asking the team to defend as a unit and I thought we were excellent

Portsmouth feeling on the up, even if they know they are going down.

The fans needed that today. It was a euphoric day and that has put the

icing on the cake. And the players, for the way they have laid

themselves. I have had the job for three games and you look at the

first two performances, and the first half performance wasn't a

million miles away from what we have been, so we have to look at

that and look at what changes we possibly need to make. We are not

going to make any knee-jerk reactions, because we have a good

group of players. Bournemouth's victory meant

Yeovil's automatic promotion champ -- chances were over, but James 80

setting up young defender Joe Edwards set them up for a victory

over Crewe Alexandra. Yeovil continued to put together some

excellent approach play. Crewe Alexandra have now lost all of

their games since they won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, and even

though they squandered a great chance to equalise, they needed a

terrific goal line clearance to avoid a heavier defeat. Great stuff

from that Lubbers, who could be hard to beat in the play-offs. --

home game knowing victory would extend their season into the play-

offs -- Swindon Town. The goal came from an unlikely source. Aidan

fleet last celebrated a legal a year ago. The 23-year-old clearly

had a taste for some goal action, and nearly had a second before the

break, but credit to Chris Day, who clawed the ball to safety. But the

contest got away from Graham Westley's team before the break.

they made the most of the numerical advantage. Gary Roberts smartly

An impressive way for Swindon to seal their place in the play-offs,

despite the injuries mounting up at the County Ground. What a story for

Bournemouth, up into the second here for only the second side in

their history and all this after winning one game in their first 11.

Despite that managerial setbacks so early in his career, we are talking

about Eddie Howe again. And so we should be, he took over when they

were in the relegation zone. Brett Pitman has been coming back and

scoring goals, but Eddie Howe has done a magnificent job. He likes to

take over when they were in big trouble, they were facing

administration and going out of business and they play some great

football. It has been a funny few hours, I think is the most accurate

way to describe it, for Portsmouth. A good win on Saturday and huge

celebrations, despite relegation. Yes, relegated and deducted 10

points and they are the happiest fans in the land, and so they

should be. They have overcome some real adversity and Guy Whittingham

epitomises everything about the club, they really care about it and

whatever it takes, they will come at the other side. As for the

battle for second place, it is tantalisingly close going into the

final weekend. How about that, Brentford against Doncaster, the

best home record against the best away record, you could not have

scripted it better. Of course not. It is a massive setback to lose

that game, Brentford do not have a great record in the play-offs, so

it is a massive game. I have a feeling Brentford might get the

resort. It is going to be the real cauldron of an atmosphere at

Griffin Park. More from League One there, with Bury, Hartlepool and

has been mentioned Art -- Portsmouth already down, Scunthorpe

had to win their last two games and hope the sides above them slip up

if they are to avoid being the 4th side relegated. The latest

games can save Scunthorpe. And just before half-time, they got the type

of break that can turn a season. Jimmy Ryan got away from Darren

Potter and Karl Hawley gave the side the crucial lead. In the

second half, like the first, the United goalkeeper was the star,

keeping MK Dons at bay. Saving from Potter and then Patrick Bamford on

the follow-up. In fact, the home side were grateful for a post as

Anthony Ford almost doubled Scunthorpe's advantage. Their

battle to avoid the drop goes to the final game at home against

Swindon. Walsall's sparkling end to the

season had seen them rack up a 14 game unbeaten run and after

teenager Clarke Harris went mighty close for bottom club Bury, they

opened the scoring in a match which could have kept them in the hunt

for the play-offs. A first goal in 13 matches. But with Swindon

winning, this game turned out to be academic, and the same could be

said about the equaliser. One of only two substitutes for a cash-

strapped Bury side. Long-since relegated, but the gallant effort

from Walsall. It is disappointing, because we wanted to hold up our

end of the bargain and win the game and make Swindon have to win theirs,

which they did, so it bears no significance, really, to reaching

the play-offs. After last week's defeat at Crawley,

commentary by Steven Pressley made four changes, and Darren

Philliskirk was only denied a goal on his debut by Nathan Clarke.

Another clean sheet for Leyton Orient. Their recent improvement

came too late to affect the bail standings but they left with a

third win in four outings, courtesy of Dean Cox.

For so long the division's pace setters, Rovers are only just in

the top 10. One of their former players John Welsh almost increased

their pain, only to see his free kick rebound off the post. Bailey

Wright looked to have headed an own goal past Declan road, only for

John Welsh to spare his blushes on the road -- on the line. Joe Ghana

and will a Hirst combined in the second half before presenting a

chance. Preston remain unbeaten at home since Simon Grayson took

charge. The last eight weeks have been an

absolute nightmare. Today, at least we showed why we have been top of

the Lea for such a long time. I thought today, they have given

everything we have asked for. How we have lost the game, I will never

know. Matt Smith's colt had secured back-

to-back victories for Oldham and the man who scored against

Liverpool and Everton in the FA Cup set the Latics on the way to a win

that would dismiss any worries about relegation. It did not turn

out to be the winner. Mark Connolly levelling up for Crawley, with just

his second senior goal. They point would have been sufficient to

effectively guarantee safety, but in stoppage time, old and grabbed

the winner, and when it really mattered, the Oldham players have

produced the goods. It is Everything, Julie elation, I am

proud, and basically, we have to move on -- joy and elation. Well

done to everyone, big pat on the back and a fantastic win and

performance but it showed that mentally, we have gotten stronger

as time has gone on. Colchester kicked off five points

clear of the relegation zone. Shrewsbury were all but safe. That

enabled Graham Turner to make six changes and David McAllister marked

his recall by warming the hands of goalkeeper Sam Walker. Gavin Massey

was unable to finish here, and the draw means the Essex then go to

Carlisle on the final day still fighting for survival -- Essex men

relegation zone back in September, what the term. Yes, it is a great

achievement in the first season back in the one to stay up, so well

done to them. -- In League One. team who are feeling the pressure,

but they have to win at MK Dons at Saturday, of Scunthorpe. -- had to

win. They live to fight another day. Yes, I am very impressed with the

way he goes all the way in and that sit on a plate for Karl Hawley.

That is all they could achieve, taking it to the last day of the

season and applying that pressure to Colchester. It still looks like

they are up against it, but they have given themselves a chance.

ultimately between Scunthorpe and Colchester. Yes, and you look at

the goal difference, a three goals wing. We have seen so many things

this season, you can't rule it out. Certainly not at Colchester will be

under pressure. They only managed to get a point today, not in great

form and they have nothing to lose, Scunthorpe. Brian Laws knows that

and if they do come out and get at the other side, it will be a

massive achievement. On to lead to now, and the season wouldn't be the

same without an annual end-of- season visits to Barnett that

League Two. Having avoided that of a dog fight, they dropped back into

the drop zone. But today, they welcomed Whickham for the last ever

game at Underhill, and who would have thought the Barnet manager on

this occasion would be Edgar one of football's most famous Lopes

was always going to be a gut- wrenching, heart rendering occasion

it is seven miles away at their state-of-the-art training ground

that Barnet will kick off next season. The question is, which

and for us it is the change of an era. We want to get through this

season, and it is a shame that what should have been a celebration to

date is being overshadowed by another relegation battle -- today.

A how Liz Edgar Davids coping? is coping well. -- how is Edgar

Danvers coping question of it is a new experience for him, he has been

one of the world's greatest footballers. I used sad about

good day as well. Every year, we just about pull it off, but today

hope there isn't about relegation. I like to think that the players

can forget about the history and emotion and focus on getting three
