Evening. Well, what an afternoon it turned out to be in the Npower

Football League. While the majority of Championship sides played out

their penultimate round of games, in Leagues 1 and 2, it was the

final day of the season - and with it an incredible finish. 16 teams

had something to fight for - seven of them desperate to keep hold of

their league status. And who better to join Leroy tonight than a man

who has won seven promotions as a manager - a warm welcome to the

referee's best friend - the shy and retiring Neil Warnock. Here's what

we have got in store for you tonight. Watford needed at least a

point at play-off chasing Leicester on Friday to keep their automatic

promotion dream alive. We've action from a dramatic night at the KP. On

Saturday, Hull had the chance to seal their return to the Premier

League at relegation-threatened Barnsley - our featured match from

Oakwell. Having climbed out of the drop zone, Peterborough suffered

their first defeat in 11 last week at Derby. Next up for the Posh, the

visit of Sheffield Wednesday - a side also not yet safe from the

drop. And as the race for automatic promotion from League One goes down

to the last day, I'm at Griffin Park to see whether it would be

Brentford or Doncaster booking their place in the Championship

Right, well, let's start with the crucial Championship game from

Friday night, as Watford looked to heap further pressure on Hull in

the battle for the second automatic promotion spot. Four points adrift

of the second-placed Tigers with just two to play, could Gianfranco

Zola's side keep that dream alive at play-off chasing Leicester?

Schmeichel. Abdi's run again not checked, but Schmeichel was equal

to the task. Deeney scores for Watford! Five minutes before half-

time, it is Troy Deeney! And a vital, vital goal here at the King

Power Stadium for Watford. Leicester paid the penalty for

allowing the corner to go right What a goal. That is absolutely

sensational! Nathaniel Chalobah, surely one of the goals of the

season in the Championship. You will not see many better strikes

can put this one out of sight... It is Vydra! Off the line! Ritchie De

Laet with a goal-line clearance to arriving in the middle. Deflected,

and in! Harry Kane! Watford are sure he is offside, but it was

deflected on its way through. I think he was just about level

anyway. What an impact for Ben Marshall denied by an elastic

save from Manuel Almunia. No matter what happens, we were doing

everything we can to go up straightaway. No complaints. The

team is really doing everything. Good win for Watford, and we will

look back at that cracking goal from Chalobah later. The question

was, how would Hull respond? They needed three points from their last

two games to guarantee promotion. They were taking on Barnsley,

fighting for their Championship fighting for their Championship

lives, and without a win in five. Two sets of supporters who may well

be experiencing vastly different emotions at half-time. Hull have

brought more than 5,000 fans, hoping to witness their team's

return to the Premier League. The Barnsley faithful, meanwhile, are

desperate to get some points to keep alive their hopes of staying

missing for Hull because of a calf problem. Jack Hobbs is only fit

enough to be on the bench. George Boyd will play up front, alongside

strike partner, but it was cleared by Cranie. Chris Dagnall, O'Grady,

lovely touch. Off the underside of the bar, and did it cross the line?

Yes, it did! Barnsley are in front! It is a goal that will have

reverberations around the-hour -- around the whole of the

Championship this afternoon. Barnsley are in front against

promotion-chasing Hull. Well, for the neutral, that is probably the

best thing that could happen in this game. I'm sure many of you

equaliser. Boyd loops it over the goalkeeper, but Kennedy was in the

way. Dickie Bird, the former Test match umpire, one of the most

famous Barnsley fans. He recently was never really going to present

too many problems for Luke Steele. Boyd has got four goals for Hull

this season. The noise is all coming from the Barnsley supporters.

Go down the other end, to the Hull fans, not a lot of joy pension. --

in his way... O'Grady! What a fantastic strike from Chris O'Grady,

and Barnsley have doubled their advantage. They scored early in the

first half, and they have done likewise in the second. It was a

brilliant strike from Chris O'Grady, who initially looked as though he

had foiled his teammate's efforts Proschwitz! What a chance that was

for Hull. The header was from Nick Proschwitz, but it was always

assistant on the far side has hurling himself at it. Had it been

a fraction lower, Luke Steele would Barnsley have won it, to give their

chances of staying in the Championship a huge shot in the arm.

But for Hull City, they needed three points today to claim the

second automatic promotion slot, but those three points were not to

be theirs, because Barnsley, with a goal early in the match from Jacob

Mellis, and another one early in the second half from Chris O'Grady,

have claimed all three points, and we will now have to wait until next

Saturday lunchtime to see who goes up automatically alongside

imagine the main emotion you will be feeling his immense pride in

your players. Yes, since I have taken over, they have given me that,

they have given way those performances over some period of

time now. It is a massive step towards staying in the league. The

job is not done, but I am immensely proud. They'd do it every day in

training. I work with this group, and I can see a group of players

who do not want to lose their Championship status. I do not want

to lose its status as a manager, either. Not just the players, my

staff and the town, the football club has United as one, which is

key. One point from your last three games, no goals, it is a worrying

time for you. It is, particularly after today. We have got a huge

falling behind us, and we have had a tough game against Barnsley, who

played very, very well. You can see why they have done so well since

the turn of the year. But it is a worry for us, the lack of cutting

edge at the moment. We have got one week to put that right. We have got

a big game next week. It is going to the wire. Still everything to

play for. A hugely impressive performance from Barnsley,

considering what was at stake. You would have thought it was Barnsley

who were going from promotion -- going for promotion... Yes, it but

having been there, we got battered by Barnsley. I had a sense last

night that they were not going to go there and have it easy. Barnsley

are going to score goals if you give them the opportunity, they

have got some good players up front.. And it was the timing of

what they did, they put pressure on Hull. They never let Hull become

fluent at any time during this game. They got their bit between their

United when I left there. He is developing into a good player now.

The position they are in it will be a hell of a game at Huddersfield

they could win and go above Huddersfield. It is a pressure game.

Have Hull choked? I don't think they have choked. They have tried to dig

out results. The pace.Or the pace. 24-hours earlier it was down to

fantastic. He wouldn't have done that if he was five years older. You

Hull will be happy they are playing Cardiff. They will play. That will

suit them instead of teams trying to stop them playing they might get the

result. Everything to play for of course.

Well, as for the Championship play-off race, five clubs were

chasing the remaining three available places.

After outclassing Blackpool last week, Brighton seemed to be hitting

form at just the right time. Gus Poyet's men were at Neil's most

ball rolling for the second week running. A win would guarantee a

that are irrelevant towards football has to stop. I hope he learnt today

the right time down at the bottom. Crystal Palace can't buy a win at

failed to end his recent goal drought. Palace were firmly in their

stride. It wouldn't go in. Mission accomplished for Blackburn who have

secured their second tier status. Palace will have to go down to the

final week. This late penalty claim fell on deaf years that added to his

manager's frustration. We hit the bar, missed a sitter and the the

shove on Murray is ridiculous. came to salute their heroes,

promotion and Championship titles secured, no pressure on Cardiff. No

let-up for Bolton to strengthen their chances of going up. Bogdan

was an in inspired form stopping Mutch. When Ricketts picked out

Eagles the fern was assured. The carnival atmosphere spoiled. Cardiff

had lost twice at home on the way to the Championship. They tried to

preserve their record. Smith was kept out by Bogdan. Bogdan was

finally beaten. Noone Noone scored to leave Wanderers perched on six on

goal difference. The Bluebirds got their hands on the Championship

trophy. Freeman wants to be sipping champagne next month too. I'm good

friends with Mark, I explained what the situation was before we got here

a few days ago. I was comfortable to help him enjoy himself and his

party. Make no mistake the two are fierce competitors. When that

whistle went we were at each other. Special for a lot of people at the

football club. Lifting the trophy feels we have won the league in

front of the 20,000 people here. Way the players applied themselves on a

day when officially it didn't mean anything to us. You saw what it

meant to the team. Billy Davis knew his Forest side couldn't have any

wrong steps, victory was a must at Millwall. For heist the perfect

start. 1-0 after eight minutes. Forest's first game in four games.

Millwall's defence was back pedalling again. This shot drew the

best from the keeper. Forde saved them again. Tudgay's snap volley on

the end of cross. Their final chance came late on thanks to Feeney. The

shot lacked power at the crucial moment. Millwall will be safe if

they beat Palace. A great three points today. Battling performance.

Our work ethnic was good. We kept a calm head which was important. A

difficult place to play, no doubt difficult place to play, no doubt

about it. Forest keep their season alive. The play-off situation looks

brilliant? No-one can tell who is going to get what. It's up in the

air, isn't it. I have never known a situation like it. Let's look at the

Forest, Leicester? I mean, it's unbelievable how the fixtures panned

mentality they will not lose a game. Like Hull, for example, Steve won't

see where a goal is coming from. Everything goes through your mind at

this time. Leeds featured in that last round-up. How do you look back

at your time It has been difficult. It was difficult to start with with

previous Chairman and then the new people came in. It's not... It has

not been easy. We have turned the club round with all the play and

playing staff. Brian has something to build on. They will invest in two

or three quality players I think. El-Hadji Diouf had him tearing his

hair out being sent off seconds after scoring the goal. You of all

people will know what you get from him? His ability is fan fast I

believing -- fantastic. He gets abused like you never heard. You saw

the abuse he got at Millwall. He gets abused every game. I'm sure the

fans were... Nobody seems to do that on players. You can't react. As you

react you have gone, haven't you? Can't do it. He should know, that is

what they wanted him to do. He has risen to the bait they got him sent

off, he can't play football. Well, to the fight for Championship

survival now and up to 10 clubs were still in mathematical danger of the

drop. We start at Molineux where crisis

club Wolves faced the very real threat of successive relegations as

they took on Burnley in their COMMENTATOR: Maximum points would be

the only thing to avoid the drop. The last thing you needed was to see

your side concede within the first few minutes. Burnley should have

been comfortable. Vokes was kept at bay. The home side faced a huge 45

minutes. Their stomach for the fight appeared to have desserted them. In

the second-half, with nine players back in their own box, Paterson

still managed to score. Atmosphere was turning sour by the minute.

Wolves were given a life line when Michael Duff fouled Kevin Doyle for

a second time. Already booked, Duff refused to protest. That was left to

the home fanes who turned on the club's owner at the finish. This

late strike almost seemed irrelevant. Wolves need a win at

Brighton on the final day and help from elsewhere in ford survive.

Normally the people in charge of any business gets the stick, but I think

the blame should be shared out between all the people involved,

it's not just one person or that, like I said, we are not dead yet. I

am talking as if we are. We are not dead yet. We go next Saturday and

hopefully we get luck on the day and we can manage to pull it off.

Bristol City's anxiety was behind them, already down. They the chance

as Delfouneso and Cathcart were denied. There were waves of relief

as Sylvestre scored. Their gaffer a put the tie back on today.

If only Ipswich could extend their season. Since beating Birmingham,

Mick McCarthy's taken the side from bottom to mid table. No other

side's kept more clean sheets. Birmingham never looked like

spoiling Ipswich's recovery. And this suggested they'd need a

new boy regularly. Cresswell's free kick fell on to

the Head of Chambers. The pink shirts will surely have seen red

over the marking for that one. The second half continued similarly.

Murphy rattled one in. Ipswich up to 11th, Birmingham stay

10th. 60 points to be safe. I said you

are bonkers and looked elsewhere. I would have said it's 50, that's

enough. I thought long and hard about getting 50. 60 might be a bit

too far, I think. Charlton's excellent form in the

past six weeks has put them in with an outside chance of sneaking a

play-off place. Inside a minute on te side, the

Addicks twisted the knife -- Teesside.

This won't have helped Mowbray's mood.

The home side were thinking they'd scored with their best chance to

recover. Not so. This pass gave an opportunity for redemption. Another

miskick. Charlton have finally let a goal slip. Fuller tapped in the

pass. McDonald's late header salvaged a draw for Boro.

It was hard for them to look on the bright side. We recovered. We got a

point. Still disappointing. All respect to Charlton finishing the

season very strongly. In my opinion, we should be beating Charlton at

inches taller than his fellow players.

He's never faltered. They deserve a bit of that. They are not a bad

Saunders at Wolves, four defeats in the last five games. It goes from

bad to worse. Look how many wolves players there are in the box.

There'll not be a more distraught place than at Molyneux tonight.

How's it got to this point? I don't think anybody knows in football.

Seems like a domino effect when you get these runs when nothing goes

right. They've spent money over the years, had good crowds and

everything, but it's hard, once you get on that downward spiral, it's

difficult. Even though they've got some, everybody said they've got

Premier League players, but the Championship's a cruel league, if

you don't have the people up for the Championship. Let's have a look

at the table. Stark reality for the Wolves fans. It's looking against

them now staying up, isn't it? I saw Dean's body language. I think

Dean thinks they are down now after today. He'll put a face on for next

week, but to go to Brighton and to have to win, it might not be enough.

The last few weeks they've played as if they were down and they've

behaved as if they think they are down, with the anger and

frustration. Who else do you worry about looking at the last remaining

games? Millwall. They haven't scored enough goals. Since the FA

Cup semi-final, they haven't got the results. That's going to be a

pressure game. When I was at palace, Millwall was not a place you wanted

to go to. They both need the points for different reasons, Palace and

Millwall. So apart from being a manager, it would be a cracking

game. You get to the FA Cup semi- final, come out of that no matter

what happens with a positive frame of mind, but because of what

happened on the terraces, there's been negative press about the place

so it's a difficult place to go to. Certainly not a place teams have

feared to go to because they've lost 11 now? He's the best manager

there is, the longest serving manage ir. He is, yes.He can come

up with something. Barnsley play Huddersfield and if Barnsley beat

them, they go above them and Sheffield Wednesday, you know, you

might say it's a good time to play Middlesbrough at the moment;, be

you can't say what. They are all in peril, aren't they? They are.

nerve jangling final weekend, for certain. To League One. Griffin

Park, after 45 games, two points separated Brentford in third and

second place Doncaster. We sent Clem along for a tense and dramatic

afternoon in West London. The script writers have pulled out

all the stops with this one. League One's best team at home

against the Football League's best win. They've managed that six times

in the last seven matches at Griffin Park. But they did slip up

in identical circumstances against Reading 11 years ago. If the worst

comes to the worst, they've never been promoted by the play-offs in

six attempts. Doncaster have been virtual ever

presence since the turn of the year and need just a draw.

But, they've lost three of the last six, including the chance to go up

last weekend. It's going to be tough. That's what

you play football for though. on heart, if I offered you this

scenario on the first day of the season, would you take it? I would

have snapped your hand off. Better season than expected? After

relegation of the Championship, we are in a strong position. It was

always going to come down to this whatever. Two best teams.

this. Who could believe you play 46 games and end it all on the last

Very good, yeah. Sleepless nights. It's tense. One thing about

Brentford, never fail to disappoint so I'm hoping today it will be

totally different. Do not go anywhere. You are about

to witness one of the most dramatic finishes in football history, in a

match that neither side could afford to lose, Wright-Phillips

went close to settling nerves. After surviving that, Doncaster set

about seizing the initiative. Moore getting down sharply to keep out

fans had been waiting for arrived. This clear handball had Brentford

dreaming of a second tier return for the first time in 20 years. With

both sets of supporters biting their nails in unison, the home side's

promotion hopes fell on the shoulders of Trotta. What a nervous

moment this is for Trotta. He's hit the bar! He's missed. It a right

scramble in the six-yard box. It's cleared aby Doncaster. The break is

on. Paynter is on the edge of the penalty area. They put it into the

empty net by Coppinger. Don cast verdict won promotion to the

Championship. What drama. Penalty missed at one end. Doncaster go to

the other. Brentford 0, Doncaster 1. We all put in a shift, not just

today the whole season. Look at it. That is what it is for. What were

you thinking? What an extraordinary 45 seconds? I knew he was going to

miss. Just knew. For drama it's unbelievable. We did so well and for

the penalty right at the death... them to it? That is their place. I

stayed out there a while. The players have done it. That is the

key to it. They have done it. It was in the script. I had written the

script. The script's come true. # don't think I've ever seen a minute

in football like that? No. Difficult to to find words. Put it that way,

I'm speechless. Do you want to leave it there? No, I think it's very

difficult to cope with that sort of scenario. Everybody is down in our

camp, including supporters. But, we will not throw our season away. We

will be assured that we will be up for it from Tuesday on wards and

preparing for Swindon. Can't even begin to think what is going on in

his mind this evening. Very many congratulations to Doncaster. They

are going back to the Championship. What a finish? I've never seen

anything like it me. I am nce convinced that a 19-year-old lad

convinced that a 19-year-old lad on-loan take as penalty like that. I

want to know went off behind-the-scenes. That can't happen

a young lad like that with that responsibility. Paynter here. He

pass. Coppinger has been a good servant for Doncaster. The fans. Who

would have thought that? A minute before and they were in the

When you have Saunders who takes penalties, shocked to see that a

young lad take the penalty. They must be devastated. The Chairman's

fourth pro promotion in the 10 years they will am. 20 years to the day

since his last promotion at Wrexham. He must have brought that same

script out. He is on about that script. Got the cog webs off it and

brought it out. Brian has done a good job. Dean left them in a good

spirit. John Ryan deserves credit. spirit. John Ryan deserves credit.

Not panicked and stuck with it. Great for the lads. Penny for the

thoughts of Dean Saunders? He will be pleased with them. First time

Brian will manage in the Championship. After that career,

managed at international level, never managed in the Championship.

He will be distraught for what happened today. He will be chuffed

about Doncaster. He can take credit for the work that went on in the

first half of the season. More from the last day in League One

now starting at the Wirral, where Bournemouth had the chance to cap a

memorable season with the League One memorable season with the League One

title at Tranmere. The pre-match build-up was dominated by Tranmere's

refusal to allow Bournemouth to receive the trophy should they fern

as champions. Talk of the title was previous. Pitman couldn't find a net

on a day when the goals dried up for the division's top-scorers. They

dominated a Tranmere side whose promotion challenge collapsed. Mark

Pugh and Mc McCoid couldn't break the deadlock. They then heard about

events at Griffin Park. cruellest way to be snatched away.

What can you do? Out of our control. We did everything but win the game.

That was our main focus. Performance was excellent. Tranmere didn't have

chances. We bombard their goal second-half and didn't get the break

we needed. It's been a season to forget for relegated Bury. Yeovil

have a place in the play-offs. It got Bert thanks to the free-kick

Clark Harrison found a way through again. The Glovers couldn't contain

the loanee. A jose is another Posh recruit. He gave the scoreline a

one-sided look with Bury's third. They were in complete command. A

second-half comeback saw Hayter head in a corner from close-range. In

stoppage-time they scored again. This time after good work from Lewis

Young. Dawson brought it back to 3-2 to set up a frantic finale. Young

almost claimed an equaliser, but it wasn't to be. Yeovil are left to

concentrate on a play-off semi-final against Sheffield United next

weekend. One final work out for Sheffield United before start of the

play-offs. Preston proved to be a decent test. King brought out the

best in Long. After one win in seven Blades fans are worried the season

will finish in disappointment. The goals have dried up. United drew

another blank despite Porter's best efforts. The striker failing to fool

play-off places. Despite a first career goal from 18-year-old Waite

who was in the right place at the right time. Coventry season's

fizzled out when they were deducted 10 points for falling into

administration. Fleck reminded us they could have been contenders.

County were ahead again. Coventry didn't clear the free-kick. Hughes'

angles weren't quite right as he guided on the up and under, Pearce

was quickest to react. With four minutes of the season to go, Pearce

had a role in another equaliser. Moussa ensured Coventry's fan woos

have a good final memory from a stressful and turbulent campaign.

Hartlepool had their manager watching from the stands he served a

touchline ban. His players were up against it. Jones looked to have the

bidding of Flinders. Pools cleared the danger. Simpson crossed for the

grateful Jamie Proctor to get his first of the afternoon. Hartlepool's

response was that of a team determined to put on a late show.

James' perfect centre was headed by Andy Monkhouse. Their confidence

grew. Flynned we ares a clearance. James with a flick on. Monkhouse

with a terrific finish. His second and they led for the first time in

the encounter. The travelling contingent who dressed up for the

occasion with something to smile about. Crawley got a point in the

a set back as Goldson sent them into a lead. Jabson's free-kick sent

has been thrown at them, Portsmouth had the character to make a fist of

it. This shot was spilled, Harris was first on the scene to cut the

deficit. They were still -- there was still half an hour to play.

their way back from the football league basement. Shrewsbury town

They have not done so well the last couple of games. When the play-offs

start and there is something at stake it's more vital am you can't

on the fight for survival. With Bury, Hartlepool and Portsmouth

already down, the battle against the drop would be between two clubs,

Colchester and Scunthorpe. The Iron needed not only to win, but

close a three goal disadvantage in to intervene in the United goal. It

took Colchester until 20 minutes into the second half to make the

breakthrough. Clifford struck the cross bar. This header just dropped

in, despite the best efforts of Mark Gillespie.

A second followed. Gillespie came but failed to collect. And full

advantage was taken as Colchester were going to witness a second

relegation in three years. A late flurry of goals proving irrelevant.

Collins looked to have given Swindon momentum as they headed to

the play-offs, but there was a quick response in the final three

minutes which ultimately was to come too late for them.

Even though news of Colchester's sick trifiltered through to Lynn

onshire exthere was no lack of defiance as there was a forced

challenge allowing Duffy to score as the match ticked into injury

time. The Iron manager was in charge when

they last played in the fourth tier. Despite the even later third goal,

there was no excuses. I said to the players, it doesn't

rest on this one game, our season, it's about 46 games and we haven't

They are that type of club that they'll bounce back, they've shown

that over the last few years, they'll regroup. Scunny fans will

Scarborough against Wolves and he was the manager. I think Shrewsbury

have done brilliant. And Crewe have had a great season. Yes, a great

story there. A good season for them as well. Much to admire, not least

for Yeovil, but who else for you? We were talking about Leyton Orient

and Yeovil. They've done well this season. As for the play-offs then,

this is how they line up. Two teams who'll be desperate for their first

lay-off -- play-off success. I just fancy Sheffield United. You have

got to fancy Yeovil when you look at their away kit. It will get

anybody going that kit! I have a sneaky feeling for Sheffield United

looking at that now because Yeovil have a few injuries as well.

Brentford, it will be difficult for them. 20 seconds away from the

Championship. They are going to take some picking up? That's going

to be a hell of a managerial job to turn that around. As far as League

Two is concerned, with Gillingham crowned champions an Port Vale all

but guaranteed promotion due to goal difference, the remaining

automatic place would be realistically contested by two

Cheltenham had the flags out early but the celebration of the

Steve Evans' manager 12 months ago were in full party mood as the

stoppage time goal launched a wild promotion party. Incredible. We

talked about this. We have taken it on the chin when we've had downs

and we've bounced back. That support today was absolutely

fantastic. You get relegated, it doesn't just impact us, it's staff

and players. It has a wider impact on the fans and the club as a whole

and everyone who works for the club. Your old club, Neil. They had a few

changes then. New stadium this season, 30 players in and out over

the summer? It tnt feel like Rotherham before. -- it didn't feel

like Rotherham before. Steve Evans is not daft. Tony Stewart, he's

done bill yant for him backing him -- brilliant. They got what they

deserve. Congratulations. Look at these scenes. It was said that it

would be a miracle if they went up. Administration twice in the last

five years? Absolutely, but he's invested in that club. They were

going to try and lift Steve Evans up, you know. Only you can say

that! He'll laugh when he hears that, I hope!

We saw Cheltenham there as well. They missed out on automatic

promotion so disappointment there, but they are in the play-offs. If

there's light made of that hangover... No disrespect, they are

not the biggest football club in the world. They've come a long way.

Mark Yates coming from non-league, has turned things around in a short

space of time. To bounce back, incredible, well done. Just two

home defeats in the regular season? I think you look at all of them,

there are a few good stories, there's some good stories this year.

It was interesting because they faced administration. I don't think

there was a training kit or a player registered literally two

weeks before the start of the campaign. It's amazing what you can

do when you get on a run. It's about getting good team spirit.

Look at the top teams, they all have good squads, lots of teams.

Well done to all those sides. Aldershot's relegation is confirmed

at Rotherham. The question was, who would be joining the Shots. Six

other clubs were threatened on the last day. One of them was Wimbledon,

up against Fleetwood. On a day when only a win would keep

Wimbledon up, their fate seemed determined to be decided by a cross

paid off. What a time for Alexander to head home his first since mid-

February. Survival in their grasp.

But it wasn't long before they were staring conference football in the

face once more as their heads began to drop.

They haven't won a game lately. They need add hero. They managed to

find one after Atkinson tripped an opponent up. There was arguably the

club's most important goal. The jubilant homen ifs were not

concerned. After a fairytale finish for the club who've been on the

fairytale ten year rise back from the dead.

The stadium was packed. Hitchcock exploited the defending.

United could feel the rest of the relegation pack breathing down

their necks. The start of the second half had the fans fearing

coffin. The complexion of the contest was changed. Torquay seized.

Three minutes later, Jarvis inadvertently restored Rovers' lead.

Only one way to put that type of howler behind you. When Downs was

denied by Mildenhall, Jarvis made up for his mistake and made sure it

was back in Torquay's hands. Goal difference would be sufficient to

keep them up, but three points would make the maths simpler. And

this goal had them in front for the first time. Rovers' season would

see one more goal too and serve up a heart-warming surgery. Harold

hadn't played since last September after knee surgery. This will make

Blanchard to stop him which gave the referee little option.

That raised the tension for Argyll even more. Although Rochdale only

had pride to play for, they won the game, thanks to this first touch

from Bunney. I've come in and said I'm

concentrating on keeping the club up. It's really pleasing for

everyone in the club. Massive support. Hopefully we can push on

next season. Both teams here knew they could

drop out of the Football League. Woodall will wonder how he missed

that chance pore the hosts. This free kick provided the moment.

Northampton needing a result it was always going to be flat, I would

Torquay and Plymouth, desperate for them to stay up. Sorry about Barnet.

It's every man him himself on a day like today. So nerve whacking today.

Barnet go out. Eight years since the team came straight back into the

Football League. It is getting more difficult? I feared the worse. Where

we are, Plymouth and Torquay, to get players to come there is hard

enough. To get them to compete with the level they are talking about

it's difficult to get back up now? Interesting to see whether Dave

individual stays on at the new ground. What about the relief at

Kings Meadow. What a job the manager has done there. They have scraped

through in their second season? Delighted. He is a good lad. A

legend down there. The fans, look at. It I know it's a celebration.

You wouldn't want them to go out after how hard it has taken to get

where they are. The history they have. Midson scoring on his 100th

appearance. I'm sure he will have a little thought for Barnet. He has

done the important job. Neil isn't the most experienced candidate he

went in for Terry Brown who left the season a month in. I'm sure he was

delighted as well. There is a depth of feeling about that football club.

All the managers down there will have learnt more in the last four

weeks than they will ever learn it will stand them in good stead. The

younger manager in particular. The pressure at that level is so

difficult to get back up out of that league, financially and everything.

Our last look at League Two begins at Neil's old club, Burton, whose

chance of automatic promotion all but disappeared after last week's

defeat at Bradford. But already assured of a play-off

place, the Brewer's last game of the League campaign was at home to

lead. After that it was action all the way. As the storm clouds passed

the sun shown on Burton. Phillips rattled the post. Phillips made it a

testing day for Romeo. The midfielder's second assist helping

Symes get on the scoresheet. Zola made the advantage more comfortable.

Allen could unleash what he calls "the weapon" that is Muggleton's

massive throw. The leaders went down fighting, much to their manager's

delight. Burton will do battle with Bradford in the play-offs. Zola and

co would need to be at their most clinical against the Cup

specialists. Port Vale just about got the job done last week. Not even

the most pessimistic follower would think Cheltenham would great this

swing. Dean Morgan put Wickham ahead. Port Vale didn't have to rely

on the maths. Hughes confirmed their promotion after five years in the

basement. Considering the club's recent financial problems, it's no

surprise some of their fans got carried away. At the age of 37, Jack

Lester is calling time on a productive playing career he led out

Chesterfield for the last time. O'Shea was intent on giving him a

special send off. His strike was one of the highlights of the game. The

second frifd a set-piece, Richards afforded too much space.

Chesterfield had a two goal cushion. It was fitting that Leicester got in

on the act. He won his side a penalty. Moore's Taylor's ill judged

challenge left it with them actual do. They marked the occasion in

style. They completed the scoring as Chesterfield eased to victory. He

scored his second short of the hour mark. His tally to 149. A fitting

Oxford's second goal. Constable was fouled by Peter Murphy. Smalley made

Marsh made all the running before setting up Rigg. They know what is

expected next year. A mid-table game between two sides with nothing

thrift play for. This chance couldn't be converted to give the

Southend fans something to smile about. The last goal came due to

this miss judged attempt to see the ball out, Fleming getting the goal.

season fizzles out in disappointing fashion. It will be a busy sum
