Evening. After the international break, today saw all three divisions

of the Skybet Football League back in action. And barely six weeks in,

the sacking season has already started, with the League's third

longest-serving manager, Gregg Abbott, becoming the first casualty,

ending his five years in charge at Brunton Park. And expect more player

movement, too, with the emergency window now open for business for the

next seven weeks. Leroy is here to see who could do with a fresh face,

and who's doing just fine after Saturday's round of games. Owen

Coyle has been ringing the changes at recently-relegated Wigan. The

Latics were at Leicester, who could have gone joint top with their

fourth win in seven. We have the best of the action from a terrific

contest between two promotion candidates at the KP. They haven't

beaten Blackburn in nearly 25 years - but after a good start, could Sean

Dyche's Burnley overcome their local rivals in a Lancashire derby at Turf

Moor? -- in 34 years. Two former England internationals are finding

the transition to management something of a challenge at the

bottom of League Two - I'm at Hartlepool for the visit of

Accrington. And as ever, we've got plenty of

goals to squeeze after another bursting fixture list. 103, in fact.

Well, despite missing out on a play-off place by the narrowest of

margins back in May, Leicester have got their new season off to an

encouraging start with ten points from their opening five games. The

Foxes, though, tasted their first defeat last time out, so were

looking to bounce back against a new-look Wigan side, who appear to

have adapted well to life back in the second tier. Commentary comes

from Paul Walker. Two of the Championship's big

hitters, head to head on the same Two of the Championship's big

score in the previous two meetings. But they start of today's match

ahead of their opponents. Promotion for both this season is of paramount

continue. Leon Barnett read that one well, using his muscle. It is a

throwing to Leicester City. Nugent takes it early, that was a good

effort. Wigan were caught napping. The strike was crisp, but not on

target. It will be Anthony Knockaert with the Leicester corner. Moore!

Oh, the youngster is off the mark! with the Leicester corner. Moore!

Look at the celebration. That is exactly what it means, as he puts a

hole in the advertising board. The marking was awful. Anthony

Knockaert's delivery, but look at the space for Moore. It was a

thumping header. Leicester are ahead.

This set piece is a long way out. Surely they will not strike from

here. Watson hits it. Well, that was a venomous drive from Ben Watson. It

was a really good hit. But it was not on target.

That is needlessly given away, and Vardy will chase it. Good save,

Carson. That could have been two, and it all came from a Wigan

mistake. Gomez was sloppy in possession, and suddenly, Wigan were

retreating. Vardy had the pace, but Scott Carson covered his front post

well. Watson urging everybody forward.

Barnett does well, and Schmeichel does equally so. And that is the

last action of the half. It was a half in which Leicester City took

the lead, with Kasper Schmeichel the hero at the end of it. Leon Barnett

with a thumping drive, but the goalkeeper did well.

That goes over the head of Rogne, and it might reach Vardy... Well,

Nugent, for a man of his experience, he has got to be hitting the target

there. James Perch, into the area... Schmeichel, equal to that effort.

Boyce did well on the overlap, but Leicester's keeper comes up with the

goods again. Drinkwater, Vardy will chase, Chris

Wood goes down! Will it be a penalty? Yes, it will. The look on

both a short's face tells you he is guilty. Vardy was causing him a

problem, and Beausejour could not get out of the way, and there was

contact. With ten minutes left, it is an opportunity for Leicester to

put the game to bed. Can David Nugent make it count and wrap up

three points at home? Nugent against Scott Carson... It is 2-0, and three

points for Leicester City, surely. This time he does make Wigan pay.

Scott Carson did his best but could not get enough on it. Leicester are

surely home and hosed. Carson, moving around on his line, but

Nugent puts it past him. Beausejour with the header away.

Hammond lifts it over the top. Where is this going? Just wide, from Leon

Barnett. If one passage of play sums up Wigan's afternoon, this is

probably it. Total miscommunication. And it almost led to another goal.

It is a good team performance, a good victory, against a side whose

expectations will be very high this year. They have got a talented

squad. And for us, it is a bit of a benchmark for us today. It was

always going to be a difficult game, but I think that we are fully worth

our three points today. We are disappointed to lose any game, of

course. We came here against a very good side, a beautiful stadium and

everything else. We started slowly, but having said that, we have lost a

soft goal from a set play, a free header at the back. We have done it

in training, and ultimately, somebody has not taken the

responsibility to match the runner. First Leicester City goal, you must

be delighted. Yes, it is my I did about five celebrations in one. So,

it was an afternoon to remember, then. Leicester came through that

test impressively. Yes, I was very impressed with them today. I know he

said they started slowly, but I thought that was down to the

intensity of Leicester's play. Wigan came into it in the second half, but

they really missed Grant Holt, who is out for another month. They did

not ingratiate themselves with their defending. They gave Leicester the

freedom of the penalty area. Certainly, Wes Morgan is a big lad,

and I am sure they were told to keep a close eye on him, but you cannot

leave the other centre half with all of that space on the back post. I am

surprised that was his first goal, he finished it so well. Yes, Wes

Morgan having been on international duty in midweek, but also, Jamie

Vardy has come on in leaps and bounds. Yes, his runs were full of

energy, we will talk about his haircut later, because he needs to

go back and finish that. But what he did today was to put the Wigan back

for under intense pressure. The timing of his runs was excellent.

Here, he tests the keeper. Although he did not get a goal, he got his

reward by winning this penalty. In the end, Beausejour, through no

fault of his own, has to bring him down. As for Wigan, they only had a

handful of chances. As you mentioned, without Grant Holt. There

is a lot of flair in the team, but mentioned, without Grant Holt. There

maybe not enough penetration? Yes, Grant is a big miss, that is why he

was brought to the club. You can hit him and get up the pitch. That was

just missing for them. They have not kept a clean sheet in their last 14

games, either. That will be a concern, the way they conceded, as

well. As for the other Championship pacesetters, early leaders Blackpool

went to Bournemouth, who have looked a different proposition at home,

with Eddie Howe's men searching for their fourth straight win at home.

Bournemouth are enjoying life in the Championship, and the flags were

out. Blackpool wasted no time in making themselves at home. It was

Ricardo Fuller who followed on from Jack Robinson's long throw.

Bournemouth's response was of similar construction, following a

long throw from Steve Cook. And it was a fifth goal of the season for

Lewis Grabban. Back Paul gave a first start in more than a month to

comments, who had been suffering from a groin injury. This run nearly

time, Neal Bishop got his first goal for Blackpool. But then left-back

Jack Robinson, on loan from the Vincent -- on loan from Liverpool,

bottle in frustration at this late miss by Nathan Delfouneso. He tried

underneath the fence. Fourth official has made that call. The

funds available for Harry Redknapp and Lee Clark may be poles apart,

but Harry Redknapp maintains that is no guarantee of success in this

division. And Lee Clark's men gave QPR a run for their money. Andrew

Shinnie's effort cleared the QPR a run for their money. Andrew

crossbar on this occasion. When Birmingham did get the ball in the

net, after the break, there was a sigh of relief around the ground

thanks to the linesman's flag. It meant Jonathan Spector missed out on

his first league goal in almost three years. The victory for QPR was

clinched when Tom Adeyemi was spared embarrassment by the bar, but it was

put in. Joey Barton's free kick nearly made it two. We keep edging

the games 1-0 at the moment. I thought Birmingham played well. They

came and played with three centre halves, pushing the fullbacks on,

with one up, and they were good in the first half, they were better

than us, really. I have got to look at the bigger picture and the

general performances, and that is leaving me with a lot of positivity,

because I am hoping that sooner rather than later, these lads will

get the rub of the green. Lovely approach play from Forest.

Another chance here. It must be a goal this time. Although the keeper

saved it, there was no stopping the man on the follow-up. Forest lead.

They are very good value for that lead as well.

Penalty kick within a minute. Bradley had the -- Barnsley had the

opportunity to draw level. The Forest fans are booing, this is

Chris O'Grady for 1-1. A man in-form doesn't miss from 12 yards out.

Chris O'Grady has his fourth goal of the season on the return to the city

were value for the win. We created numerous amounts of opportunities

different day it could have been 8-2. Delighted. Zola walked into

Vicarage Road with a call for stout hearts in west hearts. It was

Charlton who came closest to a first half goal. Wood bundled in a lose

ball, the flag saved Almunia's blurbs. Wilson was foul fouled. The

referee said penalty, after a brief moment of contemplation, Kermorgant

said, thank you. The Frenchman scored twice against the Hornets

last season. The home side's response was rapid. They are the

Championship's leading scorers. Deeney was denied a sixth goal by

Hamer. When Hamer failed to hold Fabbrini's shot, Pudil provided the

equaliser. There after, both sides flirted with a winning goal. Jackson

spurned an inviting chance for Charlton. Then at the other end,

Murray's drive appeared to catch Dervite on the arm no. Penalty.

Plenty of recriminations at the end of Watford's 1,000th draw in League

football. We were not playing our best football. The I had a feeling

they could nick it. It didn't happen. A couple of opportunities we

were unlucky. Maybe a little bit (inaudible) The fans pre-season

optimism about Bolton's prospects is diminishing fast Leeds are showing

promising signs. This header was the first time they opened the scoring

in a Championship match this season. No need for one of the fightbacks

that has been a feature of their previous wins. Eagles whistled in

a century. There is a lot of suggestions there. We had a lot of

game off. That is the frustrating thing. Went in front early. We could

have scored a couple more goals in the first half. We got the right

result. Delighted for everybody. Leeds climb up the table and pile

the pressure on Bolton and their manager. The worst start for 50

years at the Reebok Stadium, three blanks in the last four. They

haven't got a great amount of money to play with to try and bring

someone in to solve their goalscoring crisis? They have enough

quality at the club to solve that. They have only scored three games

and not won a League game. Not a shot on target until the 93rd

minute. Now, you know, no matter what you do defensively, when you go

into a game of no confidence of scoring games you are under pressure

and his team are suffering because of it. Nottingham Forest, it was

another good Saturday. They registered their fourth win of the

season in a terrific game against Barnsley. Henderson popping up late

to score the third and winning goal. If Davis was being picky he wants

goal from his strikers. Two on Saturday? Absolutely, they scored

10, into double figures. A slight concern. What will please Billy is

pegged back they got back in front and got the three points. PR and

Blackpool extend their fine starts to the season. We can sit here and

predict how well Blackpool will do, they are confounding the critics at

this early stage. They are showing they are confounding the critics at

mental strength. To hold out for that win on Saturday at Bournemouth

with 10 men for the last half an hour will please Paul Ince?

Absolutely. Especially watching part of the game from the stand. They

have always had their noses in front this season. When they manage to get

in front they are holding onto it with a real desire.

The Championship's early game involved one of the fiercest

rivalries in the division as Burnley took on Blackburn in an East

Lancashire derby. With third place up for grabs for

the winners for a few hours at least, for Burnley there was also

the chance to claim their first win over Rovers since 1979.

Just one change for the Clarets, as new loan signing Michael Kightly was

given his full debut. As for Rovers, also just the one

change as Corry Evans made his first start in place of the injured David

Charged down wide. Major let-up for Blackburn's goalkeeper. Kean is the

luckiest man inside the stadium. Trippier. Off his own crossbar

there. Off the defender's touch. As that ball came zipping in, it was

almost a touch that put his own-goal keeper (inaudible) King again, with

a double save to ensure it stays goalless. King has been the busiest

goalkeeper in the match. Good save, Heaton. Down low to his

left. A fine, low save. Stretching away, Heaton. It would have found #

the bottom corn corner this shot but for the goalkeeper's intervention. A

free-kick, foul against Arfield. Marshall's shot. On target. Heaton

made a neat and clean save. Good pace. Here goes Trippier with

purpose. Jones. Stanislas. Stanislas! A belter for Burnley.

It's brilliant. It's brutal. It 's Stanislas here for Burnley. Takes,

turns. Back to him. He just let fly. Stanislas, what a hit! What a

moment! What a way to break that Derby deadlock in Lancashire. It's

wonderful. The backpass has come, now Jordan

Rhodes. A big mistake. An own-goal as well. Blackburn have equalised.

Arfield's backpass was wretched. It flies past Heaton. It's 1-1.

Tucked away from almost on the goal-line. Ings, was he pulled back

by Williamson? He has just come on here. He will go off as well. It's a

clear red card. No doubt. Ings was away. We were good first half. A

mixture of good football in order to away. We were good first half. A

create chances. Second-half of the game, eased slightly. They went more

direct and gave it a different feet field. It turned into a Derby, more

scrappy. We never looked into too much trouble. A moment of squat from

play, in my opinion. We remarkably showed great character and spirit to

get back in the game. Blackburn get a point. For Burnley that painful

wait to beat their bitter rivals goes on. Can they count themselves

unlucky? Definitely. They played really well first half. Didn't test

the keepers as much as Sean would have liked. Second-half more even.

Outstanding goal. When you score a goal like that, with 15 minutes to

go, you think you will go on and get the three points. Stanislas on the

pitch for three minutes. That finish is as clean as a strike you will see

this weekend. A wonderful strike into that bottom corner. They felt

they were going to win the game. This backpass from Arfield. He has a

lot to do. You think, they have no chance now, as soon as he turns

inside. He gets a bit of luck. Blackburn come away with a point.

Burnley, it continues has been a solid start to the season. It is

fair to say there was scepticism, I suppose, around Turf Moor when Sean

arrived, he is winning them over? Certainly. Burnley wanted to fit the

template with Sean. They wanted an up-and-coming manager full of

enthusiasm. They got that. They have a coach developing players. They

have a small squad who soo seem to have a great spirit. I was impressed

with how they knocked the ball around. The one touch play was

exceptional. He is turning the fans around, I think the players are in

his favour as well and right behind him.

Our last look at the Championship now and Steve Lomas was hoping that

successive draws for Millwall were the early signs of a recovery

following their poor start to the new campaign.

The Lions went in search of their first goal and win at home against

Nigel Clough's Derby. another bleak day for Millwall,

beaten heavily at home and lead them another bleak day for Millwall,

Will Hughes worked the opportunity for Bryson to complete his

hat-trick. The first league treble for the club since Paul Simpson 17

years ago. The first away from home since 1967. And there was still time

for Mason Bennett to score his first league goal. Five for drama and a

drama threatens to become a crisis for Millwall. You can see the fans

coming down to the front of the pitch and getting a little bit

worried, to be fair. That is why we made a quick decision to get at them

off and get Kieran Freeman on, because it could have got out of

hand. Me and the staff have to look at ourselves and see whether we are

doing the right things and preparing the boys properly. First and

foremost, we will look at ourselves and see if we can do anything

better, but today was unacceptable. Doncaster's search for a slice of

luck continues. Without an away win this season, they had Huddersfield

on the ropes at times, after Alex Smithies had saved from Chris Brown,

the striker's second effort was disallowed for Theo Robinson's

another facet of his game, dropping deep before Aaron Cresswell spotted

Luke Chambers loitering with intent. Portman Road loving the turnaround.

Middlesbrough stuck on one win for the season so far. McGoldrick coming

up with the coolest finish since Tony Loveridge pitched up in lands

end last week. McGoldrick has left McCarthy feeling flush. The 20

minutes, until we went behind, not particularly good and the

disappointing to concede from a corner but it kicked us into life

and I thought we played well, deserved equaliser and deserved the

three points. Second half, we were dominant. Still without a win this

season, Wednesday couldn't have asked for a better opportunity than

this. They took the lead when Yeovil

failed to play but the whistle. They stopped when Atdhe Nuhiu was flagged

offside, but the referee played on, allowing him to finish from

Antonio's pass. A quick conference confirmed that Mister Eltringham had

overruled his assistant and Atdhe Nuhiu wasn't interfering. In fact,

he wasn't offside at all but the flight had gone up and Yeovil felt

hard done by. Perhaps that had a bearing on Webster's red card, Saint

of just before the interval after taking out his frustration on the

goal-scorer. Eltringham correct again in spotting the punch and

reducing Yeovil to ten men for the whole of the second half. But whence

they have mastered the art of surrendering leads and somehow threw

it away for the fourth game in a row -- Wednesday. Yeovil's fourth league

goal since the opening day of the season. The ten men held on, despite

Wayne Hennessey mishandling and Antonio shot. Another bad result the

Sheffield Wednesday, which will do nothing to improve their shattered

confidence. We looked a little bit scared to play, to get about an

asset, and you can't do that when you are at home. You have got to be

able to rise above it and when they went down to ten men, it affected us

more. So Yeovil get that elusive goal since the opening day, and

something to build on. An incident packed match at the Den. On the

footballing side, a positive result the Derby. All five goals against

hat-trick, amazingly, in a Derby shirt for 17 years. It was a great

one as well, three great strikes from Craig Bryson. He makes a lovely

late run into the box for this one and drills it into the corner. A

real positive, after that defeat to Burnley. It was a great way to

bounce back. It is the nature of the defeat that sticks in the throat of

the Millwall fans. They are still without a win, Steve Lomas started

his tenure on the back foot. It is a shame to report tonight that there

was a fan who ran onto the pitch, he pushed Nigel Clough, the Derby

manager before making his way out of the stadium. He didn't get caught,

which is incredible. You can see the work Millwall do with the community

to get rid of this tarnished image, but idiots like him don't help their

cause. Speaking that they will be disappointed that not only has he

been allowed to get on the pitch but he has been allowed to assault a

manager. Idiots like this, we don't know where they come from, or what

is in their heads when they come onto the pitch, but there didn't

seem to be a lot of people showing any urgency to catch on. From start

to finish, a really poor day at the Millwall football club. For Steve

Lomas, the pressure has intensified. He doesn't know what his best side

is, 23 players he has used this season and that performance won't

help. They can't get a win, but he needs to galvanise the squad and

they need to get together, put this needs to galvanise the squad and

behind them and move forward. And a moment for Ipswich on that

behind them and move forward. And a convicting victory against

Middlesbrough. And League One, Leyton Orient went into the weekend

top of the table thanks to the only perfect points tally in the football

league. For Orient, it is their best start in their 131 year history.

Russell Slade was unsurprisingly named manager of the month and saw

his team welcome Port Vale. At first, it seemed the well worn

manager of the month curse had struck again when Tom Pope's cross

was finished emphatically by Louis Dodds to put Orient behind the first

time this season. But they level with grid in controversial

circumstances. The linkup between Kevin Lisbie and David Mooney was

superb, but even a scorer looked for the flag before celebrating. But no

doubt about his second. Chris Robinson forced into a cheap

concession before David Mooney was picked out again. But Port Vale

weren't prepared to become the latest victim of the leaders without

a fight. Jamie Jones didn't deal with a cross and Jennison

Myrie-Williams rammed the ball back through the crowd. And he almost

created the story of the day in League One with a free kick which

rattled both the crossbar and the leaders. But Orient are still

invincible, and six out of six was achieved with a flourish by Kevin

Lisbie. Can anyone stop them? I thought it was a good

advertisement for League One football, both teams trying to win a

match and that bit of quality from Kevin Lisbie got us the points. With

that level of performance, I think we deserved at least a point but

they have shown what a good side they are. If you switch, they can

cause you problems. Only the scorer will learn whether

his first goal for Wolves was a complete fluke or shot, but they

seemed to take a stranglehold on the proceedings before the break. Leigh

Griffiths with terrific work and Kevin Doyle's first ever goal at

this level doubled the lead. But Swindon have been in sparkling form

themselves and very nearly cut the deficit is just past the hour. Ryan

Mason out of luck. But he was becoming a major influence, and it

was from his pass that Dany N'Guessan got the Robins back into

the game with just eight minutes left. Wolves were under real

pressure now, but in the last minute after 90, Kevin Foley latched onto a

quality pass to provide a 2-goal cushion for a second time. And they

needed it. Because less than 90 seconds later, Mason lashed home a

wonderful goal from 35 yards. But Wolves had just about done enough.

It was a fantastic performance. We dominated the game from start to

finish. We dominated the football. With school two good goals and ended

up losing 3-2. -- we scored. I'm so proud of the players, they were

fantastic. It has been a worryingly slow start

for Bristol city, with no win in five league games and facing the

country's highest away scorers, Peterborough. But Craig Alcock's

shot put into the path of Tyrone Barnett, all of his goals this

season have come on the road. Assombalonga has started brilliantly

and was too much for James O'Connor to handle. But Frank Fielding made

an excellent save from the spot. The second half was Assombalonga's. His

first goal was all about fearsome power. Simply unsaleable, this is

first goal was all about fearsome already number six in Posh colours.

-- unassailable. But his game is more than goal-scoring. There is

pace, dribbling and finishing like this. Money well spent by Darren

Ferguson. With wins over both of their big

former Sampdoria defender Lanzoni handled, Daniel Nardiello made no

mistake from 12 yards. Oldham are not in the same positive frame of

with no doubt about how to deal with it. But going down to ten men seemed

to galvanise the visitors, and they turned the match around either side

of the break. First, Colombian Cristian Montano showed some South

American flair before Lanzoni purged his first goal in English football.

timed his run perfectly to restore parity. And as the clock ticked into

the first minute of injury time, heavy pressure eventually brought

its reward, as Nardiello was kept at once, but not twice, as Rotherham's

strong start continues. -- kept at once. The slick finishing of Nahki

Wells has been a major factor in Bradford's impressive start to the

season. Once again, he was composed inside the box. But Colchester

responded with two splendid goals of their own. Jeffrey Monakana buried

the equaliser, a fine finish from the on loan teenager. Four minutes

later, it was a sweet finish into the opposite corner from Jabo

Ibehre. But it was Wells who got his 17th goal in the last 16 games for

Bradford. Colchester might have won it through substitute Gavin Massey,

but he struck the upright. Unfortunately, the game ended on a

sour note, with a red code after this heavy challenge. He had only

been on the field for five minutes. It was entertainment at its finest

at Deepdale. Stuart Bevan and Iain Hume were denied before Joel Biron

fired wide. Rory Deacon almost found a way through for the away team. It

was kept out by Declan Rudd, and then the rebound was put over the

bar. This was Graham Westley's first return to Deepdale since he left

Preston in February. He reckons Preston are stronger for the work he

did when he was there. The first goal came from Paul Huntingdon just

on half-time, following a cross from Scott Laird. And it was Scott Laird

with the second himself, his first goal of the new season. Kevin Davies

scored his first for Preston from the penalty spot against Oldham on

Monday, but today saw his first from open play.

For to say, Graham Westley has had better days in the office. We saw

eight dramatic late winner for Leyton Orient, continuing their

great start to the season. Another late win, this time for Rotherham,

and somehow, they have clawed back 11 points this season from losing

positions. There is a feel-good factor around the club, Leroy.

Certainly, and they have carried it on from last season, with this

fantastic unbeaten run, and they managed to get a late win, thanks to

the winner from Daniel Nardiello. At Ashton gate, we saw Peterborough on

the road, winning again, and keeping a clean sheet. The quality of the

goals is incredible, but to think, after this game, 13 points

separating these two teams, at this early stage, it is quite something.

Yes, and as you said, it shows where the two clubs are. Fantastic

finishing by Assombalonga, as you said, by the way. I think Sean

O'Driscoll is trying to make progress at Bristol city, but that

gap is massive already. Bristol city have got to get their act together.

He is trying to change a lot behind the scenes, no doubt. Yes, when you

get a turnover of managers in a short space of time, you need to

settle down and follow your plan. I short space of time, you need to

have got the plan, they need to bed it in and start moving forward.

Elsewhere in league one, Crawley followed up their sensational win at

Peterborough with victory against jailing last week. On Saturday, they

were hoping to make it three wins from three at home to Shrewsbury.

an opportunity to do so just before half-time, when Darren Jones gave up

on the subtle approach to stop Micky Adams, but the penalty was missed,

although Chris Weale was some way off his line when he stopped it.

their six league games before kick-off, it took MK Dons just five

Chadwick's first goal since November was put away sweetly after some

composed play from Patrick Bamford. Notts County got just one point from

their opening five matches, but MK Dons midfielder Sean Williams

doubled the lead with a delightful Dons midfielder Sean Williams

free kick. Notts County were on the way to their worst league start in

56 years. There was some brief hope after Callum McGregor raced onto

this pass to cut the deficit. The young Scot was getting his second

goal in consecutive games. But Patrick Amphlett, on loan from

Chelsea, was to have the final word by starting and finishing the move

to get the final goal. -- Patrick Bamford. It puts them back up into

the top six. Uwe Rosler tightened up his defence with Martin Taylor, on

loan from Sheffield Wednesday. He had an impact at the other end, with

a debut goal inside three minutes. The Bees kept possession, and

Clayton Donaldson converted, after a mistake from Ian Goodison. Six home

league games without a win was the worst home run for Tranmere in eight

years. They pulled a goal back through on loan Chris Atkinson. Loan

players are a constant theme in this one. And on loan from Crewe town, it

with just his fourth career goal. Donaldson then got another one for

Brentford. Cole Stockton then got his first goal since February. But

later still, with effectively the last action of the game, the referee

saw a handball by Dugdale. Adam Forshaw went for brute force, and

won the game with the odd goal in seven. Two defeats in around was a

shock to a Walsall side with big ambitions this season, but two goals

in three minutes helped them restore their poise. Both came from Craig

Westcarr, who punished crew for their less than decisive defending.

He then capitalised on even more slack defending for the second. It

was Westcarr who forced the error and won the penalty, which he then

scored with a minimum of fuss. And Crewe worldwide open yet again when

James Baxendale strode through to set them up for their visit of

Wolves in midweek. I thought the first goal was crucial. It changed

everything and gave us a lot more belief. We then pressed higher up

the pitch. Following Greg Abbott's sacking, caretaker manager Graham

Kavanagh took charge of Carlisle for the visit of Sheffield United. And

it brought about a change of luck for the Cumbrians. Matty Robson's

second-half header just about crossed the line. It was enough for

Carlisle's first league win of the season. They overtake the blaze,

whose Wotan start continued. -- the Blades. David Weir could become the

next managerial casualty. Great start, could not have asked for any

more. As I said earlier, it has been a difficult week, most definitely.

The manager leaving on Monday was quite upsetting. He was incredibly

gracious and dignified in the manner in which he left. He said to myself

and the staff, look, as a parting gesture, do your best to get us a

win. To say it has been a difficult week would be a bit of an

understatement, and that was a perfect response. Certainly, it

lifted the spirits it was a sad day for the young players at the club

especially, he had a Biggin plans on them. I think he did really well at

Carlisle, getting them to two Wembley finals. Let's hope he gets

back soon. Where does this leave Sheffield United? It is hardly ideal

for David Weir, with a new owner at the football club as well.

Absolutely. This Prince Abdullah, they say it is a game changer, but

you cannot just come in and all of a sudden everything is different

because you have got money to spend. David finds himself in a difficult

position, he has gone in, trying to build something, and all of a sudden

it is not going so well, but you build something, and all of a sudden

need to stick with your principles build something, and all of a sudden

which you have gone into the club with, but all of a sudden, with this

massive investment, it is going to be difficult to deal with. At

Brunton Park, Tranmere thought they had got an equaliser, but up popped

Adam Forshaw with the winning penalty for Brentford, for their

first away win of the season. It will bring back what happened

towards the end of last season? Yes, I thought they had put that to bed

at the end of last season. As soon they missed that penalty against

Doncaster, a lot of people, including myself, thought they would

capitulate, but they didn't, they got to the final, and got beaten by

the better side on the day, Yeovil. But it was a great victory today. In

league two, a battle to rid chain Football League status was probably

not what Lewis Alessandra and James Beattie had in mind when they

embarked on their managerial careers. Clem joined the two former

Three Lions on their chest may have been a common thread for these two

as players, but their paths into management have taken rather

different routes. BT has moved seamlessly from the pitch to the

dugout, taking control of the club accustomed to struggling at the

wrong end of the Football League since their return in 2006, while

Cooper has spent nearly a decade behind-the-scenes at Middlesbrough

and, briefly, Bradford city. He inherits a side which has spent all

but one season over the past decade in league one, before this year's

relegation. Has your apprenticeship being by default or by design? By

design, definitely. The last eight years of my life have been to try to

get to this point, really. What has been the biggest culture shock for

you, because you have played at the highest level? I do not think there

you, because you have played at the has been a culture shock. I think

the hours that I work is probably the difference. You can see the

would give me the opportunity and now I have got to repay it by trying

matter how many e-mails I get, saying how well we have played, but

what matters is points on the board, and we need to start getting them.

Nobody gets to see them, these are my happy socks, the best of the

happy socks I have. Show it to the players, and everybody can have some

happiness. If I am not smiling, maybe it will give them something to

smile about. But we are working hard to try to get some results on the

table for ourselves, or the players, for the fans. You can only keep

working hard, day in, day out, on the training ground, and hope that

the tide turns in your favour. Hartlepool were almost the early

beneficiaries of eight perfect, defence-splitting backpass, but the

striker did not show enough composure. The home side's pressure

paid off soon afterwards, when Jonathan Franks was given plenty of

time to measure his finish. Hartlepool quickly seized the

initiative, with this backheel wrong footing everybody, apart from Andy

Monkhouse. But some classic Route one football got Accrington back

into it. James Gray with the tidy finish. That set up a very tense

final half an hour. Scott Flinders stayed alert to keep out this

cross, as Hartlepool dug in to claim that first win.

Fair play to Accrington for having a right go, a game that should have

been finished on the hour. We should have been Fife or six up. As much as

we get anxious and are getting, the voice box obviously, they thoroughly

deserved it. We have a fight on our hands. I have never been one to

shirk a fight. We can either sulk and not do anything about it, or

roll our sleeves up and get stuck in and get some wins. Happy socks?

Happy manager today for a change. Good result for Hartlepool at the

end of. It out of those two, who has the toughest job? What a question?

They are both extremely tough jobs. I would say the level of expectation

at Hartlepool is slightly higher. They had a couple of rough seasons.

Colin has to stop the slump before they can move forward. Hopefully

that will have happened. For James at Accrington they operated around

the lower reaches of the division. When you are losing games week in,

week out that is when your true ability comes out. They talk about

hard work. You can work the players when you are losing games. You have

to manage it correctly so they get rest and light heartedness to lift

their spirits. A tough job for both managers. They are learning quickly.

When they come through it, they will be better managers. We wish them

luck of course. More from League Two now and we

start with Friday's game at Roots Hall between Southend and

Scunthorpe. Phil Brown looking for a response

from his side after last week's home defeat at the hands of Morecambe.

Southend went into the game off the back of three consecutive defeats

but had the better of the first half, Leonard went closer than

anyone else without looking like scoring. Brown's men were meant to

regret failure to turn craft into goals when Iwelumo claimed the

points for Scunthorpe. It will take something special to break leaders

Chesterfield's stride. Wimbledon arrived in good form, but couldn't

keep Roberts quiet. He got his scoring in September underway with

his fourth goal of the season. Richards was the width of an eyebrow

of making the cushion more comfortable after the break. The

honour fell to Hird. He bagged his first goal for a year. Four wins in

a row for Chesterfield. If it wasn't for the post the score could have

been better. They stretch their lead at the top. Cheltenham had struggled

to recapture last season's form. Oxford were tough opponents. Right

from the off the Robins were in determined mood. Harrison put them

ahead after eight minutes. The lead didn't last. Kitson slotted in his

first goal for the club. Lowe rattled the woodwork. This was

hailed as their best performance of the season so far. A first home win

of their league campaign looked on the card when this shot went

straight to Gornell, who couldn't miss. Oxford are nothing if not

resilient. They preserved their unbeaten record thanks to Mullins'

leveller. From Hunt's corner, Cheltenham twice failed to clear

their lines, allowing Mullins to salvage a point. Oxford will be

their lines, allowing Mullins to pleased with that. It could so

easily have been nothing. Mullins getting away with what looked a

clear handball as this entertaining game ended on alcontroversial note.

Two goals up we have to keep the ball and frustrate people. We are

pleased we did that today. Couldn't say we have done enough to win the

game. That is a disappointment from my behalf. A late Clive Platt

equaliser earned Northampton a point last weekend. Blyth put them ahead,

they should have had a point against Exeter. The young striker, who has

now netted three in four, starts the this season could have doubled the

lead from Blyth's kick on. Northampton needed a second goal,

you sensed. Plait was unlucky from close-range. Exeter levelled the

match past the half-hour. Bennett arrived the Woodman corner. It was

anybody's game now. After the Kryslak denied Platt, Exeter got the

points in the final moments. Wheeler with the cross. O'Flynn secured

Exeter's first away win since February.

bailed out by Pidgeley and Worley. Newport took a lead into half-time

when more came were guilty of failing to close down. Willmott

fired in the sort of goal which would have sparked Hawkeye into life

in the Premier League. The second-half saw the Naylor show

resume again. He tried to take matters into his own hands

way to a fourth successive defeat and could do without the suspension

Cresswell now faces. As a result, both sides finished the match a man

down. The scoreline stayed unchanged.

Neither Dagenham nor Bristol Rovers have been prolific scores so far.

Ogogo put them ahead as they chased a first win in five. Only two teams

in League Two have scored less goals. This spot-kick was saved by

Chris Lewington. That put the spring back into the Daggers stride. How

points. Plymouth had unwon three of their

previous four league matches. Wycombe had started well too. The

his side on level terms. Centre forward Donnelly probably should

have scored. Rochdale secured a second consecutive 1-0 victory 13

minutes from time thanks to a Henderson finish. After a slow start

to the campaign, they are now just two points outside the top seven.

It's not a huge surprise to see Rochdale of course challenging at

the business end of the table. It is surprising however to see more cam

do that. They were on the last four. I hope someone buys Tom Naylor a

drink tonight. He has had better days? Maybe some of the Morecambe

players will buy him a drink tonight. A couple of own-goals which

didn't help Newport's plight. They had a good record at home up until

today. He will be disappointed to that. This is a wonderful header, it

has to be said. He glides it past the keeper, who doesn't communicate

very well and ends up in the back of their net. Not a good day for Tom.

You did that without mentioning he conceded the penalty. Wycombe won

their last three. The last three away trips, they have accumulated

the Air Miles, Exeter, Hartlepool and Plymouth? I wonder if he has a

CD of his band's music on the coach. If they keep winning they will keep

playing it. A really happy coach on the way back. Good platform to have.

When you are a small club and going on long journeys and picking up

results I'm sure the spirit has been well enhanced. The results more

impressive by the fact he is no longer playing Gareth Ainsworth.let

leadership he brings to the team is no longer well. They have done well

considering. Let's look at the tables then in the wake of

Saturday's results: . Blackpool and QPR are the early

pacesetters at the top of the Sky Bet Championship, after they both

won on Saturday, with both those sides still yet to taste defeat.

Forest and Leicester both won at home, while Leeds' victory at Bolton

sees them move into the top six. Millwall drop to the bottom of the

Championship after that 5-1 thumping at home.

The Lions, along with Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday, are all still

winless. Russell Slade's Leyton Orient keep

going and now have six wins from six and top League One.

Peterborough got back to winning ways on Saturday while Wolves,

Rotherham, Preston and MK Dons all won as they all keep up their

respective unbeaten records. Notts County continue their early

season struggles and are still without a win after their fifth

defeat in six. Bristol City lost and are also still

searching for that first victory. Coventry host Gillingham on Sunday

with both sides knowing a win will lift either out of the bottom four.

Chesterfield are flying at the top of League Two, they won on Saturday

to keep their unbeaten record going. Oxford in second could only draw,

but they also remain unbeaten. Fleetwood, Exeter, Wycombe and

Morecambe all won to maintain their solid starts.

Accrington Stanley prop up the Football League after a fifth

consecutive defeat. York and Northampton can also

reflect on difficult starts. Hartlepool picked up their first win
