and England captain. Hello there.

With August virtually done and dusted, it's been another

relentless start to the new Skybet Football league season.

A month which saw the almost inevitable

outcome at Leeds, as Dave Hockaday became the latest to be handed his

P45 by the club's colourful owner. While for the likes of MK Dons

and the other Cup giant killers in midweek, a chance to round

off a memorable week. Leroy's with me to reflect

on Saturday's 35 games. And here's what's coming up.

Having suffered four straight defeats, Fulham found themselves

anchored to the bottom of the table. We'll find out whether Felix Magath

could get his first point against fellow Championship new boys

Cardiff in our feature match. With three wins in the last three,

does Neil Adams have Norwich back on track for a quick return to

the Premier League? I'm at Carrow Road for the visit

of Bournemouth. Top of the table and scoring

for fun, Stuart Pearce is clearly enjoying life at Nottingham Forest.

We've extended highlights form their match at unbeaten

Sheffield Wednesday. And after a slow start, Brighton are

finding their feet under Sammi Hyppia, we'll see how the Seagulls

got on against an in-form Charlton. got on against an in-form Charlton.

Well, he may've come under-fire this week from the club's previous owner,

but Fulham boss Felix Magath insists promotion back to the

Premier League is still possible despite four straight defeats.

On Saturday they hosted Cardiff, who so far had adapted far better

to life in the Championship under manager Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer.

Watching this one for us was Alistair Mann.

There is no more fascinating tale in the championship than that of Fulham

and the current woes. They face Cardiff at a beleaguered craving

Cottage. Vidic progress make five changes including the goalkeeper for

his first Premier league start. -- Craven Cottage.

Free kick taken quickly. Harper goes in alone. Just flashes by the

upright. Really quickly taken free kick by McCormick. Parker saw a gap

and thought, why not. And you can see how close he came. Here is

McCormick. Parker in support. Given away surprisingly by him. Nice play

from Fulham. McCormick within a whisker of putting them in front. A

lovely ball inside the defender and full-back. A little bit of

encouragement for the Fulham supporters midweek. This is in

league terms their first start since 1956. -- worst start. Corner.

Corner rather wasted. And another corner. 21 minutes gone. Good early

pressure from the hosts. Goes for the near post this time,

Parker. Add a touch from Hoogland! A great start for full. And a goal

that their early efforts have merited. Lovely ball in. Just the

neatest of flicked header is by Hoogland. His second in the season.

Makes him top scorer for Fulham. They only have three in total. The

ball given away unnecessarily by Morrison. Fulham winning everything

at the moment. Great ball in. It is all Fulham. A fabulous start. 27th

minute and they are just hemming Cardiff City in. Good corner. Almost

found its way straight in. Marshall just about got it. The frame of his

goal helped him out as well. Has hurt himself in the process. The

post came to the aid of the goalkeeper.

Just off target. Terrific from Fulham. You wonder just why they are

bottom of the table. Second attempt. Marshall saved the

first. Woodrow on the turn and as far as it over the mark. -- fire is

it. In towards Jones who was onside. And

scores! You have to score more than one goal when you're on top and a

Fulham have paid the ultimate tries were doing so. -- ultimate price.

And the scorer Kenwyne Jones. This right through the body.

McCormick get fit a second time. Straight into the body of Marshall.

Could not get enough purchase on it. Good opening.

Hoogland. Took a deflection. His short of target but then just

catches the thigh of the man in front of him. And it spins

dangerously towards the goal. Fulham corner. Hoogland could not get to

it. Never got into the right shape. It

was a presentable opening but the header miles of the target.

We had some chances in the first half and we played well. We played

emotionally but did not score. Often in football you do not get a second

goal and then you concede. We have a lot of talented players and it is

hard to pick them up. When you look at the fixture list for the season,

you take a point away from Fulham and you're happy with that. Well

Cardiff might look back at that as being invaluable. But Fulham, are we

seeing some recovery, taken into account their results midweek as

well? I did fear for their confidence but getting the results,

they played with a lot of confidence. They were pleasing on

the eye apart from the result. They did dominate for that period. But it

is not good enough for the championship. You need to man up and

show some strength and power. Which Cardiff did to get the equaliser.

This young side. But if they want to be successful they need to be

stronger. An interesting tussle midfield. Scott Parker is going to

be instrumental for Fulham. He will be at the forefront. He was

instrumental, he set the tempo. He plays a terrific ball out to Ross

McCormack. And finishing with a really neat header. The crowd were

back on their side. But they let Cardiff back in. Cardiff were much

more with it in the second half. Much more aggressive. That initial

challenge, they finish off really nicely. And that is worth Fulham

have fallen short, in the physical battles. It is a long season in the

championship. I think these young players have got it in them. They

have the technique and the ability to win games. Well Norwich are back

in the championship after three years away. They seem to have found

their feet winning their last four games in competitions.

There is always a lot of talk about the eye watering financial benefits

of getting into the Premier league. But imagine what it is like to deal

with the collateral damage if you're going in the opposite direction.

Norwich City were relegated on the 11th of May. Instantly their

turnover fell by half from 100 million, to 50 million. And their

share of the championship rather than Premier League part of

television and commercial revenues dropped from 66 million, to 26

million. On the plus side they have balanced

the books this summer with the sale of players like Leroy Fer and Robert

Snodgrass. And after three seasons in the Premier league they are debt

free. On the field they have placed their faith in the permanent

managerial appointment of former player and under 18 's Academy

coach. We surprised the club were willing to make an internal

appointment as opposed to going outside? A club of this size of

course you have got to go and have a look. I was naturally delighted. I

am Norwich through and through. I have been here 20 years and this is

my club. People know what I am about. I got offered the opportunity

and grabbed it with both hands. Did it take long to get relegation out

of your system? Yes, it hit us hard. It was shock. We were clinging to

the hope that we would somehow avoided. How do you manage the

disappointment of relegation? All we have done is being positive,

focusing on what we are doing. We wanted to win the division, and last

year is done and dusted. You lose your first two games, three games,

four games, managers have gone, and everything is on the line. But you

have to believe in your own ability. I have been coaching a long time,

played a long time, and now I am a highest level, so I've been

fortunate to get the opportunity. You get into it, you have a go at

it. Last season everyone was doom and gloom, but this season it is all

cheering. Neal Adams seems to have got us gelling as a team. It will

start to show in the results. Anything other than targeting

staying in the Premiership would be setting the bar tool oh. At three

o'clock, it is up to them. Norwich had yet to lose at home. Lewis

Grabban was facing his former club. He settled in quickly to his

surroundings and claimed his fifth goal of the season. The visitors

levelled through one of their own new recruits, Callum Wilson, ought

from Coventry, looks an excellent acquisition.

They had been beaten in their previous two games, but this was an

improved display. Dan Gosling might have done better when presented with

a goal-scoring opportunity. Lee Camp produced a brilliant save.

If we don't win games at Carrow Road, we have let points slip, and

we know that. It is a frustrating one, we felt we should have won

today. Neil Adams left to reflect on what could have been. It was

certainly in in courage and point for Bournemouth. But what about

Norwich at the start they have made? I think it has been good. I

was pleased with the appointment of Neil Adams. He is very grounded. He

is someone the fans relate to. It is what Norwich needed. It was a poor

season in the Premier League for them, and there hasn't been a big

turnover of players. That has been important. Jerome has coming. But

the key signing, Grabban, speaks volumes. They have plenty of talent,

Michael Turner is a good centre-half. He has kept that group

together, and they seem to have a good spirit. They will be

disappointed not to pick up three points, but they will be strong in

this division. Do you see them challenging? I do. The chief

executives disappointed that they went down last year. 50 million in

turnover. They want to go back, but they need a solid foundation. They

have given them a realistic chance of an sing back. And that is the

thing as far as the fans are concerned. The worst thing last

these was the lack of goals. I might Gary Hooper before the transfer

deadline ends. But bringing in someone with improving goal-scoring

at this end, they have totally dealt with that. If they manage to keep

Cooper, that'll make them even eager favourites to go up -- Cooper

Hooper. Sheffield Wednesday took on the early leaders Nottingham Forest,

who scored an impressive ten goals in their opening four games. They

are two of the only three teams hunting for a win.

Giles Coke. Could this be an early goal? No!

Just good enough from Michael Mancienne. What a wonderful,

threaded pass this is, trying to set up the ball, but Mancienne made a

superb challenge. A useful cross, and the header is

in. Henri Lansbury for Nottingham Forest! His best season for goals in

his career last season, he provided seven. And on the marquee at

Hillsborough. A long ball from Mancienne, Antonio was a handful

there. And a beautifully timed run, Henri Lansbury. The leaders in

front. The flag stays down. He has the

pace, but not the accuracy. He was onside. Atdhe Nuhiu was off, but he

didn't play any part in the play. Stuart Pearce frustrated there.

Full of rage as he thought this man, Stevie May, was offside. He stings

the hands of Karl Darlow. Darlow trying to hold onto that.

That was illegally hit by Maguire. Still the pressure on the league

leaders, Forest. Maguire again, and that was heading on target. Until it

struck Antonio, he is threatening. That is a terrific save, from

outside of his six yard area. That was a fine save from Darlow.

That was creeping under the bar, I fancy. An excellent effort here from

Atdhe Nuhiu. Away by Coen. Sent back in again, and sometimes somehow it

stayed out. Desperate defending. This was cleared by Coen. Nuhiu

denied. It nearly dropped again for Loovens. I can't work out how we

didn't score, how we got beat. Sometimes you don't get what you

deserve will stop the way we started the game was fantastic, I thought we

should have gone 1-0 up in the first human. Standing he disappointed

shows how far we have come. We have to get back to be successful in this

league, and there is more for all come from us. It is disappointing to

think that we are a better football side than we have shown over the

last seven days, but overall, I think the results of been good. The

only thing we know and I am acutely aware of is that the only important

thing is the next game. A great start for Nottingham Forest

under Stuart Pearce, going into the rake at the top of the pile. A

deserved win? He is a real handful of front, but Nottingham Forest have

had that extra bit of quality. There appear to be games where they

control it with their passing, and as soon as they have a goal, you

felt that there were more likely to go and win the game. And they did

that, they played well, they passed it well.

Nottingham Forest have had exciting squads in different seasons,. He has

shown again what a valuable player he is, Henri Lansbury. This is what

he does. He was out of the side, came back in a midweek, got his

goal, and continued that track. Stewart didn't know what a pick, he

left Matty Fryatt out. It was a really good move. It is a dream

start for Stuart Pearce, at his old club? Wins a dream start. I think it

is an opportunity that you could have predicted knowing his

connections. But it is the real passion to keep a clean sheet. At

the end of that game, Sheffield Wednesday put them under pressure,

and they were a bigger side than Forest. They showed grit and

dissemination, like Stewart ears, is get the results. And that is any

courage Insigne from Stuart Pearce. Sheffield Wednesday came in on

November two and now have four wins. Hugely encouraging.

Absolutely. Considering one of the main players was sold to Nottingham

Forest at the start of the season, I think they have done it if it job.

Four games on the way for you. Watford travelled to Huddersfield.

This goal here was his 12th in his last ten home games. Gomez was

demonstrating the type of goalkeeping that made him famous.

Fortunately, the ball was offside. The keeper's luck didn't hold.

Parity didn't last long. His first goal of the season restored

Watford's lead. But Huddersfield were not down. Gomez grasping thin

air as he was headed level at 2-2. The momentum seemed to swing towards

the terrors Terriers. -- Terriers. But the ten men of Watford rose to

the challenge, and made it 3-2 to the Hornet. Then in injury time,

pressing hard for an equaliser, Abdi hit them on the break with his

second. It was backs to the wall in the last 20 minutes, half an hour,

when the player got sent off, so that is the pleasing side of the

squad. They showed a lot of courage, a lot of resilience. There are a lot

of games to come. Not for sale at any price.

Blackburn's warning for any club hoping to snare Jordan Rhodes before

the window closes. Opponents will have plenty of it, having seen off

all three relegated sides already, Miller Dicko got the side off to a

cracking start. Ben Marshall charged down this clearance, which needed

Carl Ikeme's intervention to think about the scoreline. The home side

refused to break their rhythm. This perfectly executed free kick. The

Wolves boss has had the luxury of naming the same is side of the fifth

league game on a spin. Consistency is elections in to be paying off.

Matt Hetty would have extended the lead. -- Matt Doherty. 2-1 with

still 30 minutes left to play. Hopes of a recovery soon disappeared.

Eight minutes later Sakho killed off the game. Lifting Wolves up to

third. In Jordan Rhodes they have one of

the best strikers. We did well to cater for that. And then we could

have had more goals especially in the second half. Derby's third home

game in the space of a week was always going to be their toughest

according to Steve McClaren. This attempted clearance went horribly

wrong. Chris Martin pounced on the rebound. 25 goals last season, he

already has four goals this time around. Things went downhill after

that for the Rams. A suspected dislocated shoulder for the island

International. -- Ireland. There have been concerns about the lack of

creativity this season. But there was plenty of it in this move almost

finished off by Paul Anderson. Ipswich looked for their first win

since the opening weekend. Jamie Ward keeping them on their toes. But

Derby could not get the gold they needed to continue their 100% record

at home this season. We had a terrific start with the

early goal. Second half, a great response.

Charlton had their unbeaten league record to protect against a reshaped

bright side. After three successive wins in league and cup, a shock for

the whole team. -- home team. Brighton fans were impressed with

their Liverpool loanee, a slippery customer. This superb stop prevented

the hosts from pulling level immediately. Lewis Dunk got his

first ever league goal. But they played themselves into trouble with

15 minutes to go. The Angola international restored the lead for

the London club. After that the red shirts proved impenetrable until the

third minute of stoppage time. When three players were left unmarked.

And Lewis Dunk struck again. It was an exciting game to watch.

When you come twice from behind that shows the character of the team.

The players gave me everything. It looked as if we were going to win

but it everything can change. Watford, boasting goals from all

areas of the pitch. It was a good one against Huddersfield. And what

about Troy Deeney, signing a new deal? That was a big one. I think a

lot of people were looking at him. He chose to stay at Watford and that

shows real loyalty. This club helped him resurrect his career. He has a

young family as well. But he is now back at Watford but he struggled in

the Premier league. And now he is coming back to get his confidence

back. He wants to go forward with Watford. Sometimes for championship

strikers that is the best way to go. Stay with your club, show some

loyalty. And you will be repaid by eventually get in into the Premier

league. There are good group of players and some quality added as

well. Sakho again showed loyalty. He has been a major part of what is

happening there. And why not keep that momentum. They started as they

left off last season. Your thoughts also on David McGoldrick. Not in the

squad for Ipswich at Derby. A dead leg was the reason given but he is

always linked with the Premier league side. Nervous times in the

transfer window. Perry -- Premier League clubs can cherry pick the

best players. If they take McGoldrick will be difficult to

replace him. Well as for the rest

of the Championship, we start at Elland Road where

Leeds United fans were reacting to the news that Dave Hockaday's spell

as head coach had failed to make it to the second month of the season.

I think letting David Hockaday club -- letting him go was one of the

best moves of the season. I think they need an experienced manager to

pull people together. It is diabolical at the minute, no

defence, no midfield. They should stick with someone who

has been proven especially at this level. They should stay clear of an

Italian manager, definitely. Leeds were looking for an improvement.

Marcus of Ystrad just did enough to divert the ball to the crossbar. --

Sylvester. An angled cross found the bottom

corner. Leeds had to survive some worrying moments. Silvestri thwarted

him once again. Jermaine Beckford was brought on. Fresh firepower. And

almost the perfect introduction for the striker playing against his

former club. Leeds held on. What has the president said to you,

keep it going until someone new comes in? He asked me to help him

and this is what I'm doing. They are good bunch of players, a young side.

It is not a problem. We just take it game by game.

We did not take the chances today. We have got to get out of these

silly mistakes. After three league and cup games

within -- without a win Millwall were soon back in business. Scott

McDonald at the sharp end of the free kick routine. Millwall lost to

Southampton in midweek. But they played better than the scoreline

suggested. Here the side got what they deserved. McDonald revelling in

a deeper role this season. Six minutes into the second half he

provided the assist for Scott Malone.

Blackpool made them sweat. 20 minutes from time substitute Nile

Ranger buried in his first goal for his new club.

The Tangerines suddenly sensed an opportunity for their first league

point of the season. But the side still lacked quality. This shot

never looked threatening. I'm delighted with the club and the

people and pleased with the fans. We have had three games at home this

week. We have lost two of them but you would not have known that.

We were not effective through the whole game. We conceded a second

goal. We had enough opportunity to get at least one point but we did

not. Middlesbrough one at home to Reading

last season. They almost did so again. But Reading found the net in

the opening stages. Simon Cox rounding off a neat move seven

minutes in. It is now back-to-back home league defeats for Boro. It

came close when kite could not quite get the necessary connection on

grand Leadbitter's ball. If we want to be in the highest

position on the table we cannot lose those kind of games.

We did well in the first game of the season. Today the defence have not

really had any save to make. Brentford have gone behind so far in

every league game and were almost in trouble when Broadfoot found the

woodwork. Both sides are still finding their feet. But the Millers

saw this as a chance to take maximum points. Paul Taylor was sent home

ill on Friday but showed no lasting effects as he also chipped the

paintwork. But Brentford showed that they can also be a threat going

forward. Andre Gray brilliant in the first half stoppage time. The

Millers aimed for a quick response after the break. Taylor once again

denied as the Londoners continued to hold firm. They also had Scott Hogan

structured off. But they could finally relax when the giant German

had this simple tap in. We should win the game, same as

Watford a week ago. Some fantastic play. Still have to get the ball in

the net. A well organised team. We knew the threat that they posed. It

is a good result and a good performance. Wigan hoped their first

win of the season over black all would be a springboard for better

things. -- Blackpool. James McArthur also almost returned to the Premier

league with Leicester this week but the deal collapsed. This was a romp

through. McManaman finishing again. City were suffering at the back once

more. The scoreline got even worse with Wigan running rings around

them. Sean Maloney setting up this goal.

Paul Caddis got this long range shot. Scott Carson kept his sheet

clean. Wigan appeared to have their Mojo back.

I'm lost for words, really disappointed. We had a bit of a go

at them in the second half. We were so flat from the first whistle.

We made their keeper worked, never stopped attacking them. A real

appetite for the goals today and a top-class performance. Two lovely

goals from Callum McManaman. They unveiled a lovely striker at The

DW, when the president hasn't decided where he is going yet! Andy

thinks he is going to Wigan, but they obviously haven't finalised the

deal. We heard from some of the Leeds fans

as to what happened, because of course they dispensed with his

services, Hockaday's that is. A sense of relief, you got from that

piece there. There are two arguments to this. Who is going to want to

manage Leeds, or perhaps who would pass up the opportunity to work with

such a big club. Leeds is one of the biggest clubs in this country, and I

think you would take the gamble. If you turn that club around, with the

fan base it has, you will be hero. If you don't, you won't get much

blame. You are working for a chairman who sacks managers. So I

think a lot of people will want to take that job and take that gamble.

Contrast in emotions with that Stephen Warnock golfer leads meaning

they go into the break on a high as opposed to Bolton. Bolton are

struggling now. Very uncomfortable there at the moment for Dougie

Freedman, the fans are not happy. Against Leeds side without a

manager, having gone through what they have gone through, they

expected better from this season. Dougie Freedman has had time to

bedding, and I'm sure he feels bad. Former Blackpool boss Ian Holloway

and Millwall, after struggling to buy a player, he couldn't buy a win.

It is incredible the manager only met with the chairman face-to-face

after a five-week break. This is their worst start ever. You don't

have a working relationship with your chairman of black wool, you

have no chance. -- Blackpool. To League 1, and Fleetwood started

the day at the top of the pile. Leyton Orient were fresh from their

League Cup win on Wednesday night. Fleetwood started brightly, but

found their opponents' power hard to get a grip with. Darius Henderson

would not be denied, only the second league goal Fleetwood have conceded

this season. Russell Slade's men paid the price. Fleetwood groundout

the late opportunity that observed an unbeaten league record. Sub

Stephen Dobbie sent the opponents back to London frustrated.

The Peterborough bandwagon rolled impressively into Colchester, and

took just three minutes to walk up -- Walmart. Sam Walker put his hand

out to save this one, and the home side somehow survived the ensuing

chaos. But Conor Washington made amends shortly afterwards when he

timed his run to perfection and got his angle just right to put the Posh

in front. The foundations of Peterborough's surged to the upper

echelons of League 1 have been built on their away form, and they looked

to be heading to a third win. Then could go see -- Kgosi pounced at the

far post. But the flight back was rewarded

when Freddie Sears was allowed to enjoy the freedom of the town for

exchanging passes and finding the back of the net. He and the mascot

will enjoy that. Posh are a class act and re-establish their 2-goal

cushion thanks to Jermaine Anderson. The visitors ended the match with

ten men after a seemingly innocuous challenge brought a second yellow.

It made for an uncomfortable last ten minutes, but Peterborough were

sitting pretty at the end. I have been delighted with them, they are

good bunch. We made Asamoah start last season and it didn't quite work

out. But the three away games shown me that they have the determination.

These two came down together three years ago, but is strongly tipped to

return this time around. Ahead of the international break, this would

be a good result for both teams. Preston got an early lead, but the

Blades still had plenty in the tank. United chased a fourth win on the

bounce in all competitions. The second fast and furious as both

sides pushed for a winner. Mark would ensure this one finished all

square. -- Mark Howard. Buttons Lee Lucas decent yet to be

among the promotion hopefuls this season. They dominated the first

half. But they were second best after the break. Martin Cranie was

born and raised in Yeovil, and even had two separate loan spells there,

but had never scored for the Glovers. It could've been worse.

Dodgy defending, but Conor Hourihane save the day. The County Ground

tends to be a tough place for teams to go. Foderingham's hand was

further in the second half. The keeper's excellent save kept Swindon

in touch, and while Cooper admitted that his side were struggling after

many hours of football midweek, they served a draw. Nathan Byrne picked

up Raphael Rossi-Branco. On Friday night, they play at their proper

home. Coventry have already sold their

initial batch of tickets for that return to the Ricoh. They are going

to a tremendous stadium and they will be a tremendous atmosphere. The

supporters haven't been able to go for over a season. We saw

Peterborough get a good away win. As Colchester, that inflicts further

misery on Joe Dunne and his young side. It is one to remember for

Jermaine Anderson full. He will certainly remember this one with a

lot of emotion. They seem to be able to deal with that, sell players and

move on, bring players through, so well done Darren Ferguson. Talk to

us about Yeovil Town. What is going on there? It was a dramatic one

season in the championship, some people would think that maybe they

were going to battle against the tide to stay up, but here we are in

League 1, and they are still waiting for their first home win since

March. They have to put the championship behind them. You talk

about the momentum when they get promotion. So there is a hangover?

There is. I just feel that Garry Thompson is the right man to turn it

around. He knows the club inside out, and will make the club a

fortress again. Plenty of talent within the squad. Let's round of the

other games in League 1. Stadium:mk, scene of one of the

biggest cup shocks in midweek. MK Dons had to face Crawley Town at

home. And follow-up of 4-0 cup win over

Manchester United? The answer: With another professor -- impressive

performance. Stadium:mk has become pretty much a fortress this season.

They started with two wins, lost their way, but found their form

again. Macfadyen saw red. The MK Dons keeper was at it again shortly

afterwards as Crawley pressed for an equaliser. Conor Henderson tried his

luck from distance, and Martin pulled off the spectacular. The

majesty defence can certainly testify to the talents of Benik

Afobe -- Manchester and defence. After their shock win over Leeds in

the cup, Bradford almost received one themselves. The linesman's Flag

ruined what had been a bright start for Rochdale, who were trailing on

the hour mark. Jason Kennedy spent a memorable for years here, and use

this game to account for the new season. Out of respect for his old

club, he kept his emotions in check. Six minutes later, James Hanson

finished up with this one. Doncaster problems at home have

becoming problem chronic. The home side found themselves further behind

in the second half. Paul Dickov felt that Luke McCullough took the ball

here. Jonathan for once of Doncaster confirmed old's first win of the

season. An end to end feisty affair Vale

Park. Gary Roberts curled his shot against the post. The woodwork at

both ends took a battering. But the Valiant is made their

breakthrough shortly before half-time. The power of Mark

Marshall surged into the box. Suddenly, having looked comfortable

for much of the first half, the The Spireites were forced to hold on.

Marshall on the charge again. Chesterfield regrouped at the break

and struck straight after. Gary Roberts had his goal after all. Paul

Cook's men didn't rest on their laurels. Soon Sam Morsy was driving

forward, earning full marks for ambition. Still just the one goal in

it, which turned out to be enough, even though Ian Evatt was lost to a

second booking at the end of match that ended acrimoniously. Heated

scenes after the final whistle when a player allegedly suffered racial

abuse from the crowd. After losing heavily at Barnsley

last weekend to a series of wonder goals, Gelling's players have been

keeping notes, especially Bradley Dack. Peter Taylor's side had only

won once at home since the start of the season, but they were in the

mood to entertain, especially Cody McDonald, who was unlucky to find

Ben Garratt on top form. Having struggled for much of last season,

crew are finding it difficult again, especially the back. The 13th league

goal they conceded this month was slightly unlucky. Fans are still

waiting for their first league points, but they did it least test

keeper Stephen Bywater. Gelling were just too good. -- Gillingham.

Two teams facing that elusive first win, finding goals hard to come by.

Down at the other end, 18-year-old Hakki della can -- Hakeeb Adelukan

was causing problems as well. He stepped on the Gas once more after

the break, and couldn't be caught. A fantastic solo goal, and

Scunthorpe's first time this season. No better time to strike them when

the Iron is hot. Six minutes later, Gary McSheffrey conjured up

something equally as special. He couldn't have idiots we does. All

smiles -- he couldn't have hit it sweeter. All smiles on the home

bench. A good win that one, Scunthorpe

beating Walsall. We saw two of the midweek giant killers, Radford and

MK Dons, in action, and it wasn't a case of after the Lord Mayor's

chauffeur either of them. To really impressive performances. I thought

the MK Dons would have the biggest hangover, in all honesty. But Benik

Afobe scored late on in the first half. Then the second there. But

after that Yorkshire derby against Leeds, it is well done to Karl

Robinson and Phil Parkinson for those performances. How hard is it

to pick yourself up? Well you get an error of complacency that it is just

going to happen. But you have got to go out and work. Both sides went out

with the right attitude. MK Dons played really well in the first

half. You have to give credit to both managers for getting the

mentality right. It has been a tough opening section to the new season

for Steve Davis. At Crewe it is almost a case of deja vu because

they had the worst defence in that division last season. And it is

happening again. They have now conceded 13 goals in five games.

They do not close down. And that is finished brilliantly. There are

unfortunate, the spin on the ball takes it into the back of the net.

But this has been happening much to regularly. Perhaps a little bit

jaded going into that game but they have got to defend better. And

lacking goals. I think they may be looking to go into the loan market

again. to the second month of the season.

Time for League Two now and few would've predicted Morecambe to have

a chance of ending August with a 100 per cent start to the new season.

The Shrimps went in search of their fifth win in five away to Tranmere.

It looks set to be business as usual for Morecambe with Captain Mark

Hughes making the most of generous Tranmere defending just before

half-time. But things would go downhill after the break. First slip

presented this opportunity. The 20-year-old still had plenty to do

but did it eventually. Then Mark Hughes had his afternoon brought to

an early end after an off the ball incident. And in the final minute,

Stockton swept in Mathilda's cross to earn Rovers just their second win

of the season. -- Matt Hill. Newport posmack with Burton had

ended their losing start. -- Newport's when. Ryan Taylor should

have made an impression but dragged this shot wide. Jed Wallace also

threatened but there was no way past and the stalemate remained. The free

kick eluded everyone including keeper Paul Jones. Newport given the

first victory of the campaign. It was a fantastic result against

the team that has 11 games unbeaten. A fantastic away performance.

It is frustrating. They frustrated us all afternoon.

The game plan worked. Cheltenham hit the ground running against

Hartlepool and stated their early attempt. John Marquis only arrived

on loan from Will Wall this week but found his bearings quickly. --

Millwall. John Marquis was denied yet again. Hartlepool must've

thought they done enough to secure a much-needed point is the game

drifted into injury time. But the footballing gods favoured

Cheltenham. After grabbing the winner and his third goal of the

season. -- Oscar. -- after. Alex MacDonald gave the Brewers

deleted Mansfield. Burton's performance did not quite hit the

heights of their cup win. Then came this match clinching second.

Mansfield came back into it shortly afterwards. The Stags created more

chances but Burton were lethal in front of goal.

This was a bruising encounter that was no surprise when tempers flared

later on. Robbie were lost his patience with three minutes to go.

-- Weir. The allegedly headbutt may not have been worth the red card.

But it was asking for trouble and trouble came.

A terrible game on a terrible pitch was the verdict. Matt Ingram kept

out look Somerfield and Steven Craig was denied by a smart stop from

Michael Ingram. Ingram could not hold the free kick. It could've

worse for Middlesbrough. Paul Hayes just about kept at bay.

Shrewsbury were looking to carry on where they had left off against

Leicester City in the Capital one Cup. Jordan Clarke proved the

difference. Matt Tyler left badly exposed from his opening

contribution. No complaints about Shrewsbury's second. Scott Brennan

had been brought in upfront and struck the other side bar and then

squandered the second attempt. The forgettable afternoon for illusion

was complete when Matt Robinson was red carded. They finished the game

with ten men. It is now five games without a win in all competitions.

As a manager you look at the passing and the way we defended and the way

we continually did the things we were asking them to do. So I have to

be delighted with that. Very start of the campaign like a

proverbial train. -- Bury started. But the visitors went in front and

the home side had it all to do. Fortunately they had Danny Rose and

his fourth goal in as many games restored parity. The visitors were

undone by a double dose, Danny Rose and Danny Meier. He does not score

too many goals but when he does they tend to be special. Jimmy McNulty

was sent off for a second yellow card following a tangle of legs with

James Gray. But of little consolation to Accrington who are

now bottom of the league. Southend's chances of return to form

suffered an early blow at Plymouth. Bolger finding himself outfoxed.

Collecting a yellow card on both occasions. Plymouth made the extra

man count in the second half. An enterprising run allowing Alessandro

to find his first goal of the season. The Plymouth flying

full-backs were a feature of the game. The Pilgrims's second win of

the season was eventually confirmed with 22 minutes to go. Alessandro

the creator this time. Read the scorer.

This was a cracking game including a crazy goal. Matt Tubbs, his fifth

goal in six games. Dean Wells opened his Stevenage account following this

free kick onto the bar. Next came the goal everyone was talking about

afterwards. Graham Westley said he was convinced that Cameron Lancaster

was aiming for a team-mate in the box rather than the top corner. A

more conventional effort gave Westley side some breathing space.

Little has gone right off late for Oxford United. So an early goal was

welcome. The response was not long in coming. Ashley Hemmings put them

level on an eventful afternoon. No shortage of goalmouth incidents as

the Douglas restored parity with the easiest of finishes. Potter got away

from his marker only to hit the base of the post. Dagenham Redbridge

went in front for the first time. Danny Hilton showed his aerial

strength to make it 2-2. The contest back in the balance. The Daggers

were troubled by power and pace. Hilton claimed his second of the

match. In sight of that long overdue league success. Abu Ogogo left the

best until last. No chance for George Long in that home goal. And

the adventures approach of the Daggers had been rewarded.

We conceded three goals but scored three very good goals against a good

Oxford team. It looks as if the wretched season

for Exeter could have been on the turn. With no wins and many

injuries, they needed luck and the judgement of goalkeeper Christy Pym.

But they thought they were getting a point, without reckoning on Richard.

The rest is history. Carlisle hopes of a first win of the

season and were effectively over by half-time. Cambridge going ahead

with this goal to trigger a terrible 20 minutes for the Cumbrians. Robbie

Simpson also opened his Cambridge account. The manner of the defeat

heaped more pressure on the Carlisle boss. It was a day to forget but the

visitors. But Jayden Stockley enjoyed a debut to remember. He came

on with just a quarter of an hour to play but still managed to bag to

goal. -- two goals. Completing a very good day at the office for

Cambridge. If your objective is to win the game and score goals and

keep a clean sheet. We have been able to do all of those three today.

I think we were much better in both boxes today, but I think the result

was burned not just today but last weekend as well.

It was a bit of a wait for Cambridge's next win after that

opening-day success. But it was worth it. Really impressive from

Richard Money's men. A bit concerned, to go without winning a

game since the opening day, to win by that sort of margin will give

them a lot of confidence. As Tranmere against Morecambe,

first-ever league meeting against the two. But they turned the table,

Tranmere, after Morgan took believed. It was a fine way to get

their first home win of the season. Stockton signed a new contract

recently, 20 years old. They have a good young group of players, local

players, and they are trying to add more youngsters. It bodes well.

Morecambe ruling Christian top spot to Burton. A fantastic start to the

campaign, and this after successive disappointment. Morecambe gave up

their top spot. There is a rid resilience there. I fancy Burton to

do well this season. I don't think they will make that mistake again,

and they are team to be reckoned with. Have we seen an early

contender for goal of the season from Cameron Lancaster? A lot of

people will be asking, did he mean this? He says he did! He was aiming

for that top corner, and that is where it ends up. Growing up, Mark

Robins epitomised the tag of super sub. Koby Arthur for Cheltenham

Town, what a story. Five appearances, five substitutions,

three goals, top scorer. Keywords like that tag! -- he won't like that

tag. But they should try him starting a few.

Exeter, no win in six, a turbulent start to the new campaign. Yes,

concern from the supporters. He has a transfer embargo and can only work

with the players he has got. He has actually registered himself as a

player as well. But there are things they can be proud of, a couple of

players picked for the under 20s, so they need to be given time to find

their feet. Lets have a look at the tables.

Nottingham Forest remain top of the championship. Newly promoted Wolves

move up to third. Blackpool remain the only side without a point after

a fifth straight defeat, their worst ever start to a season. Bolton

slumps to a third straight loss. Peterborough go top. Giant killers

MK Dons and Bradford both enjoyed wins. Crewe are bottom after the

worst start to a league season in 33 years. No side it has conceded more

goals so far. Burton move to the top to cap a great week for the Brewers.

Shrewsbury Town Cheltenham are the only other sides to remain unbeaten.

Oxford moved off the bottom after their first point of the campaign to

be replaced by Accrington. York trot to 17th. A reminder before we go
