Well, this is penultimate weekend

of the regular season

which means in eight days' time

we will know which 12 teams

will be in the playoffs,

and therefore still in the running

for the Super Bowl.

To get to those playoffs you either

need to win in your division

or sneak into one of the two wild

card spots of your conference

by having one of the best

win loss records.

There's no better example

of this playoff race then

what is going on in the NFC West.

The LA Rams travel to Seattle

to play the Seahawks,

hoping to shore up that top spot

and therefore automatic

qualification.

As far as the Seahawks

are concerned, they were in danger

of getting a lump of coal

in their stocking!

COMMENTATOR: If you do not sneak it

right away, here with Gough,

you come right at him with Gurley...

That is what they do!

Gurley!

Touchdown!

You will see an easy wedge here

by the offensive line, look at that.

Sullivan, 65.

Brown, 68, they create great space.

And he manages what they do!

It is a dominating first half

for the Los Angeles Rams.

mesh of offensive line

As bad as this is looking

for Seattle, the reality

is their chances to make

the playoffs have taken a hit

but they have a shot here.

There is a late flag.

I wonder if it is a safety here?

gone on today for Seattle,

That is the bottom line.

An impressive win for the LA Rams.

42-7, for the Seahawks to take

control in the NFC West here today.

STUDIO: Well, it is difficult

to think of a more defining

performance, really,

in a season than that.

Really making a statement, the Rams?

No question about that,

the LA Rams put their foot

on the neck of the Seattle Seahawks

with an outstanding performance.

They dominated every facet

of the football game.

It's impressive to see a young

team perform this way

when it really counted.

Does that lay a marker down

for the coming seasons

as well as this one?

Or do you only focus

on what is happening this season?

No, when it comes to the divisional

games you always have

to think of the next year,

and how the division is shaping up.

It's going to be an

interesting division.

You have great quarterback play

and these people need

to continue to face each other.

They do not forget

a beating like that!

98% chance of winning

the division, now.

You wouldn't put it anything...

Nothing is going to stop

them doing that, surely?

When playing like that,

nothing is going to stop them.

They have the entire package.

Offense, defense, special teams,

great coaching, every single thing

you would want from a football team,

the Los Angeles Rams have it.

is the most special football player

on that team.

Why?

Well, he does everything.

He missed the first couple

of weeks and he came back

like nothing happened.

as being the defensive MVP

because of what he does.

He makes impact plays

in the run and in the past,

special football player.

I would have to agree with that.

But, Todd Gurley, man.

He is special right now.

McVay is doing for him.

It's like he trusts

the play calling.

Not like we saw last year.

He knows those holes will be

there and they will be open.

One final thing on the Rams.

A lot of other teams have lost

a crucial player at some point

in the season due to injury.

It doesn't feel, you might

correct me, it doesn't feel that has

really happened with the Rams

so that must be a benefit for them.

How far do you think

they could go in the playoffs?

Health is wealth, and as long

as this team keeps healthy

and all of the other teams keep

on losing players in

the ways that we have seen,

the Los Angeles Rams can go

all the way to the Super Bowl.

Will that happen?

I don't think so but it could happen

if they stay healthy.

I don't think they will

beat the Vikings...

Of course!

I don't think they can

because the Vikings will attack

the quarterback and they will

shut that down...

It's a whole other

conversation, Osi!

But ultimately, like Osi says,

later on in the year,

it's all about being healthy, right?

And they've had that luck.

And the Vikings are his friends!

Getting into the playoffs is one

thing but it isn't the whole story.

Once in, teams get seeded

by their win loss record.

The top two escape the first

round of playoffs while the other

four battle it out and the top seed

overall will get the home advantage

all the way to the Super Bowl.

Seeding matters, and that is why

the AFC matchup between

the New England Patriots

and the Pittsburgh Steelers had such

significance, but not only that -

we had our first gentleman's wager

last week as to who

would win the game.

The forfeit?

50 press ups!

Osi chose the Patriots,

Jason picked the Steelers.

If only Tom Brady and Big Ben had

known what was really on the line?

We will join the game

with two minutes left

in the fourth quarter...

New England had the

ball with Tom Brady.

They are trailing by five

points at this stage.

He finds Rob Gronkowski

for a 26 yard game.

Then, immediately, the two

of them pair up and do

exactly the same thing.

In fact, with both of these

quarterbacks, Jason,

you know that they can manage drives

going deep into the

fourth, don't you?

Two of the best, that is

what makes them dangerous.

Whenever they have the ball in hand,

they can make plays happen

and you see that going

down right now!

I mean, that is an amazing catch.

Even if you were a small man, Osi.

But Gronkowski is massive!

So, that one was for 17 yards.

They match up a third time, and then

they switched to the run game.

Dion Lewis goes in,

from eight yards.

It gives them a 25-24 lead and now

they need to go for two points,

rather than just the point after,

so if Pittsburgh got a field goal,

it would tie the game.

Exactly.

This is what a really good

Head Coach, well actually,

all Head Coaches in the NFL

would make that call and Rob

Gronkowski got it done for them.

Sean Davis is having

and get this win for Pittsburgh.

He finds Smith-Schuster

for 69 yards, another

example that we have seen.

We have seen a few recently, Jason,

of people getting way down

the sideline and not being put out?

It shows such a lack

of awareness by defenders.

They know the sideline

is there but they are not closing

out players and trying

to avoid penalties.

It gets them to the 10-yard line.

Anyhow, so, Big Ben

finds Jesse James.

Everybody thinks that

is the go-ahead score.

However, they review,

as they do, every touchdown.

They judge that he didn't

complete the catch, Osi.

As we talked about a lot

on Tuesday night as well,

because the ball hits the ground.

It does hit the ground.

You see his elbow hit the ground,

he did not have full

control over the football.

It hit the ground.

No way is that a catch.

So, that is the rule.

They are devastated.

They are just three yards.

The clock is winding down.

They are out of time-outs.

So, you could spike it and kick

a field goal to tie the game.

What they actually do

is fake the spike...

notable results from week 15.

Detroit, Buffalo, and Baltimore

still hanging in the playoff race,

with important wins.

Minnesota clinging to the division

by beating Cincinnati.

Yeah yeah!

New Orleans continuing to make

the NFC South so competitive,

a big win against the Jets but not

as big as Jacksonville

who thrashed Houston by 45-7.

Let's have a look at the AFC here.

And the standings.

The New England Patriots

and the Pittsburgh Steelers have

taken their divisions.

Jacksonville have guaranteed

themselves a playoff

spot too in the South.

It is still very tight in the AFC

West, the Kansas City Chiefs

got that important win

over the Chargers.

That means those are the four

divisional winners, as things stand.

Tennessee and Buffalo

in the playoffs but it is tight.

Baltimore are very close to getting

in there and still come

at the moment, the Chargers,

the Raiders and the Dolphins

are not out of it yet.

That was a vital win for the Chiefs,

wasn't it, over the Chargers.

Not many predicted it?

Yeah, not this guy you

are talking to, either!

They've really found a way

to turn things around.

You thought they were going

in the wrong direction

but they bounced back,

they made some adjustments.

That was a huge win for them.

Coaching, coaching, coaching.

I keep on saying this.

When you have a superior coach

in the National Football League,

he's going to be able to overcome.

Especially later on in the season,

when the going really gets tough

and Andy Reid is a superior coach.

Now, more than ever,

it's really important to look

at the fixtures coming up for both

sets of teams, really, in this race.

The Chiefs have Miami at home,

and then they go to Denver.

The Chargers go to the Jets,

and then they welcome Oakland.

You'd see both teams winning

both games, would you?

It depends, it depends

on which Jay Cutler shows up

for the Miami Dolphins, man.

The thing that goes skibbidy bop,

or the one who cannot

make a complete pass!

It all depends on which

Jay Cutler shows up.

Hang on...

absolutely have the ability

to run the table here.

who will be in the playoffs.

And how the much maligned

Blake Bortles has turned things

round, really, this month.

We spoken all season about what

a great defense Jacksonville have,

but he is getting them points?

You've man a lot of credit, right?

He is ballin', and the reason is

he didn't give up on himself, right?

He was the focal point of,

this guy has to play well

for us to have success.

He didn't let it get to him.

He got his skill set together

within the confines of the team.

He is playing well.

Tennessee still have to play

the Rams and they still had

to play Jacksonville.

Buffalo, also in that playoff race,

have to play New England and Miami,

whereas Baltimore, the other team

in this mix, really have

Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

Baltimore have the easiest run.

No question about that.

Indianapolis is going to lay

down and Cincinnati

is a shell of themselves.

They absolutely, Baltimore

is going to be the team

that is going to be able to get in.

Given their strength this schedule.

Let me show you the NFC standings

after the results from this week.

Philadelphia and Minnesota have

clinched their divisions.

Confirmation, if any were needed,

of just how tight the NFC South is.

The Saints and the

Panthers, ten and four.

The Falcons, nine and five.

In the West, the Rams have that two

game gap after thrashing

the Seattle Seahawks.

As far as the playoffs

are concerned, Philadelphia,

Minnesota, the Rams and the Saints,

as things stand, are

divisional winners.

The Panthers and the Falcons

are the wild cards, with the Lions,

the Seahawks and the Cowboys

still very much in the hunt.

Was that a statement win

for the Panthers over Green Bay?

Without a doubt.

Now, Aaron Rodgers wasn't himself,

but that is no excuse.

I was talking to Osi

about this earlier.

Man, they look scary!

Carolina looks really

scary right now.

They play as Cam Newton goes

and he is playing very well by now.

Defensively, they are outstanding.

Cam Newton, running the football

and finding it easy.

Christian McCaffrey,

these guys are making plays

all over the football field.

They look to be a really

dangerous football team

going into the playoffs.

Does too much depend on the mood

and the form that Cam is in,

or could you say that

about most teams?

Like you just said,

about their quarterback,

you can say that about most teams

but the way that Carolina is built,

if they are able to continue to run

the ball and play defense,

they are going to be in every single

game that they play.

That was an important win

for Minnesota as well?

Yes.

Yes.

Minnesota needed that.

Speaking of Minnesota...

I don't think anyone can beat them.

They have great players on every

level of their team.

As I say, Minnesota have clinched

the division and Green Bay are out.

There's nothing on that fixture.

Some really interesting ones around.

The Buccaneers at the Panthers,

but the Falcons at the Saints.

The reverse fixture of the one that

we were at a couple of weeks ago.

That's the game, right?

I'm not betting you either, Osi,

but that is the game

that is going to be the battle.

How do you see that one going?

The Atlanta Falcons have just

defeated the New Orleans Saints.

I do not think the Falcons will be

able to go into New Orleans,

which we like to call

the Bermuda Triangle,

and win a game in New Orleans.

I don't see it.

I want them to win but I don't think

that is going to happen.

I wanted a chance to beat him

in a bet but I agree with him.

I would have went in

this direction anyway.

So, you'll go for the Saints?

Some other big games

around in week 16...

The Seahawks are at the Cowboys.

Whoever loses that is out

of the playoff race.

Do you want me to go to him first?

I'm going with Dallas.

The Seahawks are a shell

of themselves right now.

Too many injuries on defense.

I don't see it.

And psychologically,

that pummelling against the Rams has

surely got to have an effect?

It has.

If they had their regular players

I would say that they would bounce

back but they got some weaknesses.

We saw some conversations back

and forth between two

of their defensive players that

lets me know that there is some

chitter chatter in the locker room.

Definitely going with

the Seattle Seahawks.

The Dallas Cowboys have

been playing well.

They have, no question of that.

But going off the Seattle Seahawks,

getting throttled the way they did,

I think they are going to come out

with a bunch of intensity.

They are going to go

and try and win this game.

Because if they do win,

they have a chance to

get to the playoffs.

They can stop the run?

I think they are going

to win this game.

Oh, my God!

Do you want another 25?

My chest is sore.

I'm chilling out.

That's what I thought.

The 49ers are completely out

of it but Jacksonville

are playing the 49ers.

They are on a very good run.

You kind of think this must be

the worst time to be

taking on San Francisco?

He is playing outstanding in that

position but the Jacksonville

Jaguars are just too tough.

On defense, the defensive line,

secondary, linebackers,

and Blake Bortles...

I mean, I just don't see

that the 49ers are going to be

able to overcome that.

I agree, but we are going to get

a chance to see Jimmy G

and what he can really do.

It's great for the 49ers

organisation to really check him out

as a top-level defense.
