I'm once again joined

by Jason Bell and Osi Umenyiora.

We all know that this

week it's hard for many,

going back to work in January

can be awful.

It's cold, it's miserable,

you have to pretend to be interested

in what your colleagues got up

to over the holidays.

It can be a time of sad reflection.

It's been a great ride.

Very grateful.

I'll miss the players.

You'll always be winners.

It's a results business,

I understand that.

The tears you see are

really tears of joy.

Really kind of disappointing.

I will miss the game.

But don't be down,

it is playoff time.

That means 20 teams get

to have an early holiday

and the other 12 remain

in contention for the Super Bowl.

Let's be grateful.

Now the playoffs, as you probably

know, have a simple knockout

formula - the NFC are on one side,

the AFC on the other.

The top two seeded sides from each

Conference have a bye and we're

going to see them next week.

This weekend, the wild card Weekend,

sees the third seed play the sixth

seed and the fourth seed play

the fifth seed.

One of the key things to remember

with this system is that the highest

seed always plays at home

against the lowest

seeded team available.

So here are the playoff teams

who are going to take

over the playoffs in

the next three weeks.

They're going to slug it out

for their place in the Super Bowl.

Just for clarification, this show

was recorded before the start

of the Tennessee v Kansas City game.

So we won't be talking in any great

detail about that game,

but if you want to, then go

to the BBC sport website and you can

follow how that game

is progressing right now.

So these are the 12 teams.

Are they the 12 that

you would expected?

Well, we've gone through so many

predictions that at some point

you will have predicted these teams.

But would you have expected

the majority of them 17 weeks ago?

I think a couple.

Well, for the most part, yes,

you would have predicted a lot

of these teams would have been able

to at least make a push

into the playoffs.

Obviously, there have been

a whole bunch of changes.

Teams that didn't make it last year,

that are making this year.

But these are all pretty

good football teams,

so you could have at least seen some

of these teams actually

being in there.

I'm surprised Dallas didn't

make it to the playoffs.

That's a surprise.

And obviously, with

Aaron Rodgers injury,

Green Bay and the situation there.

But, you know, we knew the NFC South

had some tough teams,

and they all made it.

The other thing to reiterate is,

just because the teams

are seeded this way,

doesn't automatically mean we'll get

the number one seed in the AFC

playing the number one seed

in the NFC in the Super.

Right.

The other thing is,

if people have watched it,

as long as it's contracted,

we have to mention Osi winning

Super Bowls quite near the start.

Twice, twice.

Yeah, yeah, twice, at the start

of nearly every show.

Thank you.

You're the prime example

of being a lower seed that can

still go on and win it?

Yeah, we've been in positions -

actually twice - we were the fifth

seed, I think it was and a win

with the fourth seed and we went

on to take the number one seed

in the Conference and take

on the number one seed in

the Super Bowl, and win both times.

We went against a couple of teams

actually that had rested some

players and we caught them

completely off guard.

It was like they hadn't played

a game before when we went in there.

We were so battle tested,

so battle hardened.

And you were in a rhythm.

This is a sport where you need

to find a rhythm and timing as well.

Must be.

You know the thing is,

these coaches have to strike a very

delicate balance because a lot

of these players are injured,

they're nursing little injuries,

so you want to rest them,

but then if you do rest them,

they don't have the continuity that

you would want, and then end

up getting beat down.

It's like if you've been rested one

week, sometimes you struggle

with your performance

the following week?

Right.

Yeah.

Do you know why that is?

I don't know, but I'm

finding it tonight already.

We're going to now look at the NFC

side of the playoff draw,

but first let's look back on how

the remaining playoff spots were.

Now, there were two games

under particular focus.

You're laughing too much at that,

it's putting me off a little bit.

The Panthers were at the Falcons

and a lost for the Falcons

would open the door for the Seahawks

to sneak into the playoffs

because they only had

to beat the Cardinals.

-- loss.

Surely, that result

was a no brainer.

Nobody, in their right

mind, would bet against

the Seahawks winning that one?

That's right, Jason, isn't it?

Yep...

Just the weekend.

I'm going to go with

the Arizona Cardinals here.

Osi, have you lost your mind?

What's wrong with going

with the Cardinals?

They're at Seattle,

they're at Seattle.

Are you going to bet me again?

I'm going to bet you again.

What are we doing, 20 pushups?

the division of choice

throughout the regular season.

How many would it send

into the playoffs?

Three, if the Falcons

could contain Cam Newton.

I don't know what we're doing,

but we ain't doing our job.

Three, if the Falcons

could move the scoreboard.

Matt Bryant doing exactly that.

He made it from 56 yards.

Devonta Freeman with

the single touchdown.

Devonta at the five.

Touchdown, Atlanta.

Not always pretty, but the Falcons

are in the playoffs.

Seattle then playing for little

more than their fans.

Oh God, he's right up.

To win a tenth game would be some

sort of consolation,

if only it could be done.

It was close.

Close enough to be settled

by a Blair Walsh miss.

The Seattle team, like their

kicker, just missing.

STUDIO: So here are all Week 17

results from the NFC.

We'll talk more about the number one

seeds Philadelphia in just a moment,

but the Eagles didn't get a point

at home to the Cowboys.

A very low scoring game, 6-0 there.

And the Rams go into the playoffs

on the back of a defeat as well,

beaten by the 49ers.

There are a lot of very confident

and optimist 49ers fans about next

season already with Jimmy Garoppolo.

So there is the playoff

picture for you.

The four division winners -

the Eagles, the Vikings,

the Rams and the Saints.

The Panthers and the Falcons

are the two wild card teams.

So when we put that into the actual

playoff system, you can see

that the byes go to Philadelphia

and Minnesota and our two

wild card games this weekend,

Atlanta in LA to take on the Rams.

And then an NFC South match-up

between Carolina and New Orleans.

Ready?

The Seahawks have quite

an interesting off season

ahead, don't they?

Yeah.

Pete Carroll isn't going anywhere,

but they're going to have

to do some rebuilding,

both on offense and defense?

Well, offensively they have

to reboot their offensive line.

I think that has been the problem

for them for a couple of years now,

but it really reared its ugly head

this year especially.

Defensively they've had

entirely too many injuries.

Hopefully, they're going

to be able to get...,

That was impressive Jason.

I had to give a clap at the end.

Yeah.

Initially, I'd thought

he'd fallen stage,

but that was a trick at the end.

Yeah, yeah.

Hopefully, they're going to be able

to get some of their players

from the Legion of Boom back,

Richard Sherman, Kim Chessler,

some of these guys.

Hopefully, they're going

to be able to come back.

If these guys do, then they're

going to be a pretty good

football team again.

OK, let's talk about Philadelphia.

Not a single point in that game,

losing 6-0 to the Cowboys.

But how worried, if you were

an Eagles fan, would you be

going into the playoffs?

Well obviously, they lost their

quarterback a couple of weeks ago,

which was a big problem.

We all thought that Nick Foles

was going to be able to come

in and actually replicate some

of the things that cost them.

Because he started OK?

He did start OK, but he was playing

against the Giants!

Anyway.

True.

Anyway, these past couple of weeks

he's just been a shell of himself.

He hasn't been able to get

the exact same accuracy.

He hasn't been able

to move the Philly offense

up-and-down the field the way

they are accustomed to.

So if you're a Philly fan,

you should be extremely worried.

Defensively they're fine.

Defensively they're OK,

but at the quarterback position,

which you're going to need,

going to go deep into the playoffs,

they're in big trouble right now.

He doesn't create with his feet

the same way Carson Wentz did.

He's more of a pure pocket passer.

So he's not making those

throws by creating more

time down the field.

Defensively, I think they've got

a little issue with the little

timing with those DBs, right?

You're a little out

of breath already.

Yeah.

That's working hard.

That's working hard.

So basically, you see those DBs get

beat by a lot a double moves

and that's because they've got

a great front seven.

going to get after the quarterback,

and they've got to figure that out.

Do you think that the other

teams in the playoffs,

at the Wild Card Weekend,

at the moment, that all four

of them will be thinking -

it will be great to get the Eagles

rather than the Vikings next week?

Well, you've got to be

careful what you wish for,

obviously, in the playoffs.

Of course.

But there's no question about that,

Mark, every one of those

teams will be vying,

if possible -

Which is unbelievable.

They have had such a good season.

They are the number one seeds.

Yeah, but they were just -

like they say out here

when I'm playing soccer

- unlucky, unlucky.

They were unlucky.

As it bounces off your

shins 20 yards, yeah.

So they were unlucky man,

they caught a bad break.

If it wasn't for Carson Wentz

being injured, obviously nobody

would have wanted to play Philly,

but those are the breaks.

Let's focus more on the

wild card games then.

The first NFC wild card game

is a little later tonight.

It's between the sixth

seeded Atlanta Falcons,

who are going to travel to the third

seeded LA Rams.

And we won it how we wanted, man.

Clayborn has got his

fifth sack of the day.

Gurley for MDP.

Touchdown LA.

Atlanta will clinch the sixth

seed in the wild card.

Now I'll let you into a secret

that before we came into the studio

we often chat about the games that

we're going to chat

about in here, don't we?

It may not look like it, but we do.

You all day have been tying yourself

in knots over this game

between the Falcons and the Rams.

I just don't know

which direction to go.

Osi just told me something else that

I have to put into my equation,

and that is betting

on the coaching staff.

So I'm looking at this game

and it's - do you believe

in the coaches or the players?

Atlanta, better players,

Rams, better coaches.

Stole that from you.

Yeah.

You know...

I mean, yeah, that's

all that needs to be said.

Excellent.

Moving on to the next one.

Go on.

You've got to think about it

from a scientific standpoint.

Sometimes we get scientific in here.

Yeah.

The Los Angeles Rams are a young

football team, right,

but they have an outstanding young

head coach, a genius

at the offensive position,

and defensively their defensive

co-ordinator is Wade Phillips and

he's been around for a long time.

He's an outstanding

defensive co-ordinator.

And then you go to

the Atlanta Falcons,

their coaching staff,

Steve Sarkisian, who's had

an up-and-down season.

Their defensive co-ordinator,

Marquand Manuel, I don't think he's

on the same level going up

against a guy like Sean McVay.

So the advantage lies

with the Rams in the coaching.

Players, it's going to be

the Atlanta Falcons

because of Julio Jones

and Matt Ryan, but they have

to travel to LA which is, what,

four or five hour plane flight.

They're going to be tired

when they get there.

So obviously, for me,

I'm going with the Rams,

I want the Falcons to win.

You know, my heart

is with the Falcons,

but my head tells me that the Rams

are going to win this game.

Hey, man, the players have

got to play the game.

Players have got to play

the game and that's why

I'm going with Atlanta.

I feel like now it's

everybody's undefeated.

I think they'll go in there,

pressure's off of them

and they'll figure this out.

Oh, because the pressure's off them?

Yes, I feel like all year they had

to battle that pressure of coming

back from the Super Bowl loss

and they're like - you know what,

we're in, let's do this.

Because they've been

very up-and-down this

season, haven't they?

Yeah, now it doesn't matter.

Just be good this game.

Let's get actually down

to on the field, where

could it be won and lost

between the two different units?

OK.

So Rams offensively,

Todd Gurley makes that machine go.

But we've seen this linebacker

live in Deion Jones.

Yeah.

He can match-up against Gurley,

whether it be in the run game

or when they flex him out to pass.

That's a battle that they can win

and I think that's why

players matter.

Yeah.

Now, I thought the Atlanta Falcons

had a pretty good offensively line,

but I heard Cameron Jordan,

from the New Orleans Saints, say

something that kind of alarmed me.

He said they knew that

they had the advantage

on the defensive line over Atlanta.

He said, Atlanta Falcons'

offensive line is weak.

And that startled me a little

bit because the Rams

have an outstanding defensive line.

They have a really good

interior pass pressure,

really good outside pass pressures,

so if they're not able to block

against that Rams front,

they're going to be in big trouble.

Matt Ryan's going to

be in big trouble.

He's not going to be able to get

the ball to Julio Jones.

Rams?

Rams.

Falcons?

Yeah, it's hard, tough.

Yeah, I'm not going to put pressups

on every one we do this show

otherwise next week you could be

down there for most of it.

The second NFC wild card fixture

takes place on Sunday,

that's between the NFC

South Divisional rivals,

fifth seed Carolina Panthers

travelling to fourth seed,

New Orleans Saints.

Our ultimate goal is

They've obviously played each other

twice, so you've got a bit

New Orleans 31.

New Orleans have done the double

over them this year.

And so that is the thing

we always talk about.

It's hard to beat

a team three times.

That's in the favour of Carolina.

I mean, it was the

Alvin Kamara show.

He was the guy who beat him up

the two games they played.

And obviously he is playing

lights out right now,

so they have got to find a way

to stop him.

The only way Carolina can win this

game is if Cam Newton runs

the ball ten to 15 times.

Design runs.

He has to be super, Super Cam.

Pulling the Superman chest thing

he used to do, to win this game.

He has to have the best game.

New Orleans is a better football

team than the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina, they can run the football.

Cam Newton has thrown the most

interceptions of all the teams

in the playoffs right now.

He has the lowest completed

passes percentage.

What the Saints are going to do

is be like, OK, these

guys are going to come

in and he is going to

try to run the ball.

They are going to take away that

immediately and force him to beat

them throwing the football.

And he is not going

to be able to do it.

So, I totally agree with you, right?

That is what they are going to do.

And we have discussed this before.

New Orleans had issues

in the secondary.

The young two players have

stepped up for them.

The young guys.

Lattimore we've been

talking about all year.

He had his worst game last

week and we always talk

about rookies hitting the wall.

So, yes, that is what is

going to have to happen.

Those guys in the secondary

have to play great.

Cam Newton is going to challenge

them down the field.

Are they able to hold

up to that battle?

You have got to look at who he had

the bad game against.

It is not like Tampa Bay doesn't

have some outstanding receivers.

He was going against Mike Evans,

a Pro Bowl football player.

He is a big position receiver.

The same kind of receivers,

like Funchess.

You are going to say

Funchess is like Mike Evans.

He is a big position receiver.

A guy that can put his arms out, put

it behind you and make the catch.

He is not going to run by you.

It is all about contested catches.

He is that kind of guy.

Funchess is no way in

the league of a Mike Evans.

I am just saying this is where...

This is what Carolina

is going to have to do to win.

Are you saying they

are going to win?

I am going with New Orleans.

The Saints have got more than one

way to beat the Panthers,

whereas the Panthers have one way

to beat the Saints,

to keep themselves in the hunt,

but with minimal hope

as the Baltimore Ravens

were in pole position.

They just had to beat

the Cincinnati Bengals.

They just had to beat

The most improbable long

shot for the playoffs

were the Buffalo Bills.

First they had to win and then hope.

Pittsburgh Steelers.

A 24-28 win over Cleveland.

It meant the Browns are zero

and 16 for the season.

Over the last two seasons.

I could have done better!

I could have coached the team.

Oakland's defeat against the LA

Chargers was the last game in charge

for their head coach, Jack Del Rio.

So confirmation of the

AFC playoff picture.

The Titans and the Bills

going into the playoffs.

Tennessee got fifth

because of a better record

against Conference rivals Baltimore.

-- against Conference rivals.

Buffalo.

They got six over Baltimore

because basically they have a better

record playing teams

with a better record.

That is how everything is lined up.

New England is the number

one seeds in the AFC.

Pittsburgh the number two.

Tennessee's game against Kansas City

is going on right now and also

this weekend it will be

Jacksonville against Buffalo.

And Buffalo, will come

onto the actual game shortly

between Buffalo and Jacksonville.

But that is a lovely

story, into the playoffs

for the first time since 1999.

The longest playoff drought of any

team in American sport.

Buffalo a long-suffering

franchise in every way.

There was a time when this team went

to the Super Bowl four

years in a row and lost.

And so this is nothing new to them,

but it is a really good

story because they have

passionate, loyal fans.

They show up week in,

week out and I am really

happy for that team.

And a real surprise?

A real surprise and we have been

getting on the whole

season about almost

losing this opportunity.

It is good for them.

You are happy for them

and happy for the community.

The Ravens?

Oh, man.

I realise...

Yeah.

Not the most insightful

bit of television that.

I just said the Ravens

and he just goes, oh, man.

The thing about the Ravens,

this was a team nobody would have

wanted to play if they made

the playoffs, because defensively

they are strong and offensively

Flacco could go off at any

point in time.

But the fact they did

not make the playoffs.

They had this game in their hands

and just let it slip through.

A really unfortunate situation.

What in general does the fact that

Buffalo and Tennessee

are in the playoffs tell

you about the AFC?

Well, Buffalo I am OK with.

Because they had a strong

start to the season.

They faltered little bit.

And you know kind of

came on at the end.

But the Tennessee Titans.

This is just a terrible

football team in my opinion.

They have no business

being in the playoffs and it shows

the weakness of the AFC

because those teams would never have

made it in the NFC.

The bottom half of the AFC

it is such elite quarterbacks

at the top end, that you can see

the difference on the bottom half

and why you have these issues.

Ultimately, Tennessee

have a formula.

They were just like,

we are going to run the ball

and play good defense,

and it worked out for them.

What will Cleveland do next season?

If I had to put you on the spot,

which is really hard,

because you don't know who they've

drafted, but if I had to ask

you what their record would be,

if we were sitting here this time

next year, what would it be?

I give them six games.

Right.

Six and ten?

I give them six games.

Impossible.

I tell you what, they are not

going to go in 16.

I say that.

They will not go 16 again.

No.

They will win at least a game.

You can't give them three?

They will win at least

a game, for sure.

That is a bit harsh, that.

We'll have highlights of the first

AFC wild card game between Tennessee

and Kansas City on

Tuesday's NFL This Week.

So right now we'll look

at the second AFC Wild Card game

to be played this weekend.

That's between sixth seed

Buffalo Bills who travel to thrrd

seed Jacksonville Jaguars.

I love this guy.

We know what it's about!

Touchdown!

Touchdown, Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bills are

going to the play-offs.

Very simply, how do you see it?

HE SIGHS.

Because...

That's why I keep on taking

these deep breaths.

Because you just never really know.

If LeSean McCoy is able to play

in this football game,

I'm going with Buffalo Bills.

Whoa.

If McCoy plays in this game.

If he doesn't play in this game,

then obviously I'm going to go

with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Because I think the running game

is going to be so important.

Defensively, Jacksonville Jaguars

are going to have to shut down that

Buffalo Bills running attack.

I don't think Taylor is going to be

able to beat them early

because of the two quarterbacks

the Jacksonville Jaguars have.

But if McCoy is playing,

that changes the entire

dynamics of this game.

Jason?

I am going with Jacksonville.

If LeSean McCoy is not in the game,

Buffalo does not have a chance.

But I'm going with Jacksonville

and especially if they can get

a decent lead, because that is how

they play well.

They play well with the lead.

Those pass rushers can get loose.

Not that there is going

to be a ton of throwing.

But, ultimately, that defense really

plays well with the lead.

Because Jacksonville struggle

if they have to chase a game?

Yeah, because you've got

like Bortles throwing the ball

and you don't want that happening.

And you do not want him

to turn the ball over.

That phrase is, whilst a lot

of people who have been with us

all season will recognise

the validity of that phrase,

saying about a playoff team,

a team seeded third,

by the way, you don't want your

quarterback throwing the ball.

It is sort of gobsmacking that

they've got this far.

Good coaches know their players.

They are not going to put them

in positions that fail.

They know what kind

of quarterback he is.

They know how they got there.

They got there by running the ball

and being a lead on defense.

Why are you going to change it?

Don't go in there, start throwing

the ball, getting turnovers.

You want to play your game.

The entire league is driven

by the quarterback position.

It's not about other

people stepping up.

The quarterback is the only one

who touches the ball.

Every single play.

So you don't let him touch it.

Hand the ball off.

Do high percentage passes.

Do not have him forcing

the ball down the field.

That's what we're talking about.

That's what they did.

Tom Coughlin came in and said,

do you see that guy?

He is not going to

lose a game for us.

This is what we are going to do.

We are not playing

Peewee League football.

You're not going to go into the game

knowing that all these guys can do

is run the football.

Defenses are going to

put eight in the box.

They are going to stack

the line of scrimmage

to make sure he can't...

You can't run the ball.

OK, so Fournette, the Jaguars

running back, three of his five

worst rushing totals

in the last six games.

Now, is that a rookie

who has hit the wall?

Yeah.

Or, is that teams realising that

Blake Bortles can't throw the ball

and setting up their

defense to stop the run?

A little bit of both,

but it's the playoffs.

You've just got to get it up

there and win and win

your one-on-one battle.

And I think Jacksonville as a team

can win those one-on-one

battles across the board.

OK.

I know your predictions depend
