The what a thriller we just heard on Centre Court. Everybody biting

:00:45.:00:53.

you're nails. Tim Henman beside me. Lons to analyse. Let's reflect on

:00:54.:00:57.

our Andy Murray won that match against Fognini without it going

:00:58.:01:04.

into a fifth set. He had to say five set points. He finally clinched it

:01:05.:01:10.

in the fourth set. He looked in pain at times. But Fognini is out. Andy

:01:11.:01:18.

Murray is through. Let's get his reaction, he has just been speaking

:01:19.:01:22.

courtside. Congratulations. An outstanding

:01:23.:01:28.

match for everybody watching. What are you feeling, pride, relief, a

:01:29.:01:31.

combination of everything? The end of the match was tense. Maybe four

:01:32.:01:41.

set points there. And then a tight game to break him, as well, at the

:01:42.:01:48.

5-5 game. Then, yes, I served it out well to finish. But it was up and

:01:49.:01:54.

down. I didn't feel it was the best tennis at times. It was tense today.

:01:55.:02:00.

I managed to get through. You stayed strong in the critical moments. Can

:02:01.:02:04.

you describe to the people at home how difficult that is to do mentally

:02:05.:02:07.

and physically when you are faced with such danger from a player like

:02:08.:02:13.

Fabio Fognini? It obviously difficult. When you are playing a

:02:14.:02:17.

guy who has all of the shops it's difficult. He generates power with

:02:18.:02:24.

very short swings. -- shots. It's difficult to see when he was going

:02:25.:02:29.

to hit the ball big. It was also getting dark towards the end. We

:02:30.:02:33.

probably would have had to come off and closed the roof had I lost. We

:02:34.:02:40.

were thinking about that as well. A change of conditions, a 20 minute

:02:41.:02:45.

break to change things and get ready. How was the body feeling

:02:46.:02:50.

after that titanic tussle? I am feeling OK. I did not feel like I

:02:51.:02:54.

moved as one as I did in the first couple of matches. But I have a

:02:55.:02:58.

couple of days to have a rest. Where I can work on that. You know, and

:02:59.:03:03.

hopefully get myself into good rhythm over the weekend. Come out

:03:04.:03:07.

and play good tennis on Monday. Happy to get through the first week.

:03:08.:03:12.

Anything can happen now. Enjoy your weekend. Well done. Thanks. I don't

:03:13.:03:19.

know how much he will be able to enjoy his weekend. But we can rest

:03:20.:03:24.

easy. Tim, you were watching that, what did you think what's going on?

:03:25.:03:29.

Tough battle. As Andy said, he wasn't playing his best. At times he

:03:30.:03:34.

wasn't allowed. Fabio Fognini is such a talented baseline player. He

:03:35.:03:39.

can generate a lot of power on the forehand. He was using the change of

:03:40.:03:46.

pace on the backhand was the slice. Andy can get through even when he

:03:47.:03:49.

isn't playing his best. But there was great tennis. In the context of

:03:50.:03:53.

this tournament, Andy playing the first match on Monday, to play

:03:54.:03:57.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and be through to the second week, it is

:03:58.:04:01.

ideal he has two days off now. He did a lot of running. Fognini was

:04:02.:04:06.

trying to dictate. Murray was still able to run him down. Yes, Andy said

:04:07.:04:13.

his movement perhaps hasn't been his best, but, you know, he is still

:04:14.:04:18.

moving plenty well enough to be a contender for the title. There were

:04:19.:04:27.

times when he looked sore. He could not run, it looked ridiculous, but

:04:28.:04:29.

he finds a way. He is an unbelievable competitor. He is going

:04:30.:04:36.

to need to play better, as well. Rafael Nadal's performance today was

:04:37.:04:40.

fantastic. But what and is doing and what he did at the French Open, he

:04:41.:04:43.

didn't come into the French in great form, but he found a way to get

:04:44.:04:47.

through to the semifinals. He was one game away from the final. This

:04:48.:04:51.

is no different. Not playing as best as he can. But he's still the

:04:52.:04:56.

tournament. You can certainly lose the tournament in the first week. He

:04:57.:04:59.

has a couple of days to get the balance right with rest and

:05:00.:05:02.

recuperation. But also to work on a few things. Come Monday he has to

:05:03.:05:05.

hit the ground running. Let us wrap up as much as we can. We

:05:06.:05:13.

move from the men's number one to the women's number one. Johanna

:05:14.:05:19.

Konta was in action earlier on, against the world 101, Sakkari of

:05:20.:05:26.

Greece. Jo started pretty well. Her first set point here. And Konta

:05:27.:05:34.

looking very, very strong against Sakkari. Now she is the bookies'

:05:35.:05:38.

favourite. Even if she has been avoiding the press, she's been told

:05:39.:05:41.

it enough in press conferences. She knows it. But she says that pressure

:05:42.:05:47.

is self-imposed. She tries to keep herself calm. She tries to keep her

:05:48.:05:54.

mind light, she says. Let's pick it up again, closing stages of the

:05:55.:05:58.

second set, we hope. Let's rejoin our commentators.

:05:59.:06:18.

You've got to give cred tight this young lady -- credit to this young

:06:19.:06:25.

lady as well. She could have just disappeared emotionally. Gritty

:06:26.:06:27.

performance, hanging in there. Well, she's on court one and she's

:06:28.:06:34.

going to stay here as long as pob. -- possible.

:06:35.:06:44.

Such a strong shot from Konta down-the-line there. Her

:06:45.:06:53.

positioning, she holds the baseline, doesn't give up the real estate.

:06:54.:07:17.

Forehand, backhand, it's all the same.

:07:18.:07:23.

Big shots, and a big moment for Jo Konta. An opportunity here to get

:07:24.:07:30.

into the second week of Wimbledon for the first time in her career.

:07:31.:08:01.

Jo Konta, three down, four to go! To end four years of you know what.

:08:02.:08:14.

Let us hear what Jo Konta felt about her performance today. I feel

:08:15.:08:21.

actually quite honestly blessed that I got to play two matches on court

:08:22.:08:25.

one and a really great battle on Centre Court. I got to play on the

:08:26.:08:30.

two biggest stages in the world. I feel humbled by that and also very

:08:31.:08:34.

excited to have come through some really tough matches and have given

:08:35.:08:38.

myself a chance to come back and play on Monday. It's been an

:08:39.:08:43.

interesting first week, Pliskova, who won Eastbourne and Kvitova twice

:08:44.:08:46.

a champion here, are out. How do you rate the competition ahead in the

:08:47.:08:53.

second week? Just as difficult. I think it's been proven time and time

:08:54.:08:56.

again the depth in women's tennis. Every single woman in the draw can

:08:57.:09:01.

play at a very high level on Any Given Day. I'm fully prepared for

:09:02.:09:05.

every single match that I'm going to be playing, that it's going to be a

:09:06.:09:09.

tough battle. She's so sensible and practical in her approach. You know

:09:10.:09:12.

what it's like to suddenly have the cameras on you, all the reporters

:09:13.:09:16.

asking you questions. How does she deal with it? She deals with it very

:09:17.:09:20.

well. I think she's showing her experience when you listen to her

:09:21.:09:25.

there, she's got a wise head. She's not getting distracted. She's not

:09:26.:09:28.

getting ahead of herself. She appreciates the deeper into the

:09:29.:09:31.

tournament she goes the tougher the challenges will be. She's been

:09:32.:09:34.

playing so well for a long period of time. This year he's made great

:09:35.:09:39.

strides, winning in Miami. The matches she's talked about, to have

:09:40.:09:43.

that big win on Centre Court, where she played fantastically well

:09:44.:09:46.

against Vekic. There was no let down. A big court today and produced

:09:47.:09:52.

another very good performance. Like-wise with Murray she's got a

:09:53.:09:58.

couple of days to regroup and get ready. When it comes to the lift in

:09:59.:10:02.

attention, can you go through the weekend not listening to the radio

:10:03.:10:07.

or watching the telly? Pretty much, it's not obviously easy when you are

:10:08.:10:10.

a home grown player in the biggest tournament in the world. There is a

:10:11.:10:12.

lot of attention that goes with that. But she understands it's about

:10:13.:10:16.

controlling the things you can control. That's preparation and

:10:17.:10:21.

performance. What the bookies are saying, what is being said in the

:10:22.:10:24.

press is meaningless when you're the athlete. You've got to go out there

:10:25.:10:27.

and keep delivering the goods on the court. That's what she's got to

:10:28.:10:31.

focus on. When you hear her speak and obviously, having got to know

:10:32.:10:34.

her a bit, yeah, she's got a good head on her shoulders. She seems to

:10:35.:10:38.

have all the shots. Good movement, good power, do you think her serve

:10:39.:10:42.

is strong enough? Yeah, I was very impressed. I didn't see so much of

:10:43.:10:47.

the match today on court one, but on Centre Court, she hits her spots

:10:48.:10:51.

well. She has a big serve, there's no hitting them if it's straight

:10:52.:10:54.

into the strike zone of your opponents. That's a useful weapon on

:10:55.:10:58.

any surface. On a grass court it's even more important. So she'll be

:10:59.:11:04.

looking to maintain that rhythm. I'm sure she'll practise that over the

:11:05.:11:07.

weekend. As she goes into the second week, it's that combination of big

:11:08.:11:11.

serving, big ground strokes to keep her opponents on the defensive. You

:11:12.:11:15.

can see how she might get to the final, if indeed she does. Garcia

:11:16.:11:25.

next, Williams, Wozniacki. That's the bottom half of the draw. You

:11:26.:11:31.

will hear all the players, men and women saying "I don't look ahead".

:11:32.:11:36.

She'll know who is playing well and who has lost. It is one match at a

:11:37.:11:40.

time. She'll be aware of the opportunities ahead of her.

:11:41.:11:45.

Tim mentioned how impressed he was with Rafael Nadal's performance

:11:46.:11:48.

today. Let's look at some of it. He won the first set easily 6-1. This

:11:49.:11:55.

is him in action in the second. He was up against Chachanov. He looks

:11:56.:12:06.

like a man constantly hungry. He's massively confident. I commentated

:12:07.:12:11.

on this match. So impressive the level he was playing, the shots he

:12:12.:12:16.

was hitting, his foot work and overall consistency and against a

:12:17.:12:20.

dangerous opponent. He's won a lot of sets in the row, on the back of

:12:21.:12:26.

the French Open title, Number Ten. Through to the second week without

:12:27.:12:30.

dropping a set. He'll be happy with how things have gone. Let's hear Tim

:12:31.:12:35.

in commentary and watch a bit more of Rafa in action in the third set

:12:36.:12:37.

tie-break. Oh, second serve, had to be into the

:12:38.:12:45.

court. Three donations in the tie-break.

:12:46.:13:02.

Nadal's hit good shots as well. But he cannot afford to keep making

:13:03.:13:07.

these unforced errors, Chachanov. If you open the door, even slightly,

:13:08.:13:54.

Nadal will barge his way through it. He doesn't miss too many crosscourt

:13:55.:13:59.

passes. Staying low this time and driving through on the forehand as

:14:00.:14:02.

his backhand before. Rafael Nadal advances to Monday's

:14:03.:14:41.

Fourth Round, the last 16. You're going to hear an awful lot more of

:14:42.:14:47.

Chachanov, this Russian 21-year-old who has made his debut here.

:14:48.:14:52.

But not enough artillery to see off Nadal.

:14:53.:14:56.

CHEERING I think I played very, very great,

:14:57.:15:02.

two sets. Then in the third, I slow down a little bit intensity. It was

:15:03.:15:06.

tough. He's a tough opponent. I think I played a solid match in

:15:07.:15:11.

general terms, very happy to be through in the second week here in

:15:12.:15:15.

Wimbledon is fantastic news. I'm enjoying every day. Just two days

:15:16.:15:19.

off now. You had a lot of fans already, but you have even more

:15:20.:15:21.

because they've seen you doing your own shopping. Well, I am doing

:15:22.:15:29.

always at home. Here too. We are in a house here. We are not in a hotel.

:15:30.:15:35.

So we need to buy the things to eat. I love to go. Did you ask a fellow

:15:36.:15:39.

shopper for a bit of help with the self-service? Yeah, in Spain we

:15:40.:15:48.

don't use that very often. We normally pay, yeah... At the till.

:15:49.:15:55.

Yeah. I saw it and it was quick. Some people waiting so I do it and I

:15:56.:16:01.

get lost a little bit. When guy helped me, it was very nice. He's

:16:02.:16:05.

just so lovely. He's brilliant. He is. He's so humble, down to earth.

:16:06.:16:11.

He's 15 times Grand Slam champion but there he is shopping for his

:16:12.:16:15.

groceries in the village. There'll be a few surprised locals. I did ask

:16:16.:16:23.

him how does he think he is now compared to the Rafael Nadal 2008,

:16:24.:16:30.

09, 10? He says he doesn't make those compare sons. He's looking

:16:31.:16:33.

close to his best. I think better than ever. Irrespective of how well

:16:34.:16:38.

he played on the clay this year, coming onto grass, he didn't play a

:16:39.:16:42.

tournament. He's always a little bit susceptible with his knees in the

:16:43.:16:46.

early stages. But the way he's hitting the ground strokes, he's

:16:47.:16:49.

been serving aggressively and because of the hot weather, the

:16:50.:16:52.

courts are definitely harder, the ball is going to bounce a little bit

:16:53.:16:56.

higher. You know, he really fancies his chances. Again, playing the

:16:57.:17:00.

first day on Monday, you get that Monday, Wednesday, Friday, he talked

:17:01.:17:05.

about it there, two days off. Things are falling into place nicely for

:17:06.:17:08.

Rafael Nadal. He might call you for a game of golf. He was in the locker

:17:09.:17:13.

room putting with Tony and Francisco, his stroke was looking

:17:14.:17:16.

pretty good. They were complaining about the carpet as well. Not the

:17:17.:17:22.

best putting surface. Bit of right to left break. He was playing golf

:17:23.:17:27.

last week. I asked if he won. He said, "Yes, of course." Let's look

:17:28.:17:35.

now at Heather Watson. She is the reigning mixed doubles champion. She

:17:36.:17:43.

was up against new mum Victoria Azarenka. At the beginning of this

:17:44.:17:47.

match, it looked like it might be one-way traffic. Heather lost three

:17:48.:17:51.

points in the opening game. That's where we pick it up. Watson is

:17:52.:17:54.

serving Already very early on, but to me,

:17:55.:18:16.

Azarenka looks like she's picking up Heather's serve very easily. Great

:18:17.:18:20.

timing and the distribution of her ground strokes looks a little

:18:21.:18:21.

frightening at the moment. Serve has improved. Yeah, it has. It

:18:22.:18:43.

will be very important to serve well today. Because she's facing one of

:18:44.:18:46.

the best returners in the women's game.

:18:47.:19:04.

Terrific. STUDIO: Watson has a reputation for

:19:05.:19:40.

starting fast. She won that first set 6-3. Azarenka then turned on the

:19:41.:19:45.

after burners and raced through the second set, winning it 6-1 to level

:19:46.:19:52.

things up. We're going to join it in the deciding third set with

:19:53.:19:56.

Azarenka, they've exchanged breaks already. Azarenka serving for the

:19:57.:19:58.

match. I would have loved to see Heather

:19:59.:20:12.

just step inside that court to take that second serve. Azarenka has

:20:13.:20:16.

thrown in quite a few double faults in this match. It's been a while

:20:17.:20:20.

since I've seen her do it. She did it a couple of times in the first

:20:21.:20:22.

set but not lately. At the spin of the coin, the umpire

:20:23.:20:45.

says to the players if you're going to challenge, please do it verbally,

:20:46.:20:52.

and I don't think the umpire saw Heather's arm up to challenge. Now

:20:53.:20:57.

she's saying it's probably too late. There's that, but no verbal

:20:58.:21:00.

challenge. It came late.

:21:01.:21:04.

Too late as far as the umpire was concerned.

:21:05.:21:13.

I wonder if it would have made a difference. It's well in, we are

:21:14.:21:17.

being told. It's long. Azarenka puts a silencer

:21:18.:21:47.

on the crowd. Terrific effort from Heather Watson, ranked outside the

:21:48.:21:50.

top 100. What about Victoria Azarenka? Just her fifth match back.

:21:51.:21:56.

She's booked a place in the second week of Wimbledon again. Champion.

:21:57.:22:05.

In every sense. STUDIO: Really was a tough opponent

:22:06.:22:09.

for Heather Watson. The challenge wouldn't have mattered, because the

:22:10.:22:12.

ball was in. Due feel it was a cased of missed opportunities there for

:22:13.:22:15.

Heather? Yeah, a little bit. Azarenka is a great player, but

:22:16.:22:19.

she's coming back from having her first child. She's probably a bit

:22:20.:22:23.

ring rusty. Heather has been playing great tennis. She made the final at

:22:24.:22:28.

Surbiton. She played well at Eastbourne. This is the level of

:22:29.:22:31.

tennis I expect from her. It's really important she builds on this,

:22:32.:22:36.

because before the grass court season, ranked 126 in the world,

:22:37.:22:39.

that's not where she belongs. She has to make sure she puts in this

:22:40.:22:43.

level of performance and the consistency with the training to get

:22:44.:22:47.

her ranking inside the top 50. That's where she should be. She has

:22:48.:22:51.

a fabulous forehand. Sometimes the forehand works brilliantly well and

:22:52.:22:54.

sometimes then it becomes something maybe she overrelies on. I mean it's

:22:55.:23:00.

probably can be a bit erratic. That shouldn't stop her being aggressive

:23:01.:23:03.

with it. When she's playing well, it's a dangerous shot. It's a good

:23:04.:23:07.

weapon for her. Again, all these different aspects are things she can

:23:08.:23:11.

improve on. That's exciting. If she keeps working and developing those

:23:12.:23:14.

areas, then she can get back into the top 40, top 30 in the world. I

:23:15.:23:18.

mention she is the reigning Mixed Doubles champion. She had to go back

:23:19.:23:24.

out on court, barely an hour later. Bizarrery they were up against

:23:25.:23:28.

Victoria Azarenka playing mixed doubles too. As you can see here,

:23:29.:23:34.

Kontinen and Watson won that match. They go through to the second round

:23:35.:23:39.

of the Mixed Doubles, in which Jamie Murray is playing with Martina

:23:40.:23:44.

Hingis. That's an exciting pairing. Victoria Azarenka, after that

:23:45.:23:49.

doubles match, said this: REPORTER: How much are you enjoying

:23:50.:23:53.

being in the heat of battle once again at a Grand Slam and at

:23:54.:23:58.

Wimbledon? Very much so. I think a match like today really is important

:23:59.:24:05.

for me to have. The early stages of me playing again, and to find a way

:24:06.:24:10.

to win, not necessarily when everything works on a particular

:24:11.:24:13.

day. I'm very happy I went through that, playing on Centre Court

:24:14.:24:18.

obviously is always a pleasure. How are you combining being a top tennis

:24:19.:24:22.

player and a mum at a major event like this? It's pretty tough. But

:24:23.:24:27.

it's also so fun, you know. It's something that is more meaningful

:24:28.:24:32.

than any tennis match ever will be, also at the same time, for me to be

:24:33.:24:37.

able to chase my dreams and go after what I love and do it every day,

:24:38.:24:43.

it's also very special. STUDIO: Victoria Azarenka will now

:24:44.:24:47.

play Simona Halep in the Fourth Round. If you were watching Murray

:24:48.:24:51.

earlier his mum Judy arrived late to watch his match. It's because she

:24:52.:24:57.

was watching Jamie Murray and sadly Jamie and Bruno Suarez, such a

:24:58.:25:03.

success in the doubles, went out 7-5 in the fifth set. Jamie now just has

:25:04.:25:11.

the Mixed Doubles to rely on. A real shame there. Massive crowd had staid

:25:12.:25:17.

to watch on court 18. Aljaz Bedene, we thought maybe, he's been playing

:25:18.:25:20.

well, he had a chance against Gilles Muller. Sadly, for British fans, it

:25:21.:25:26.

wasn't to be. He had a chance. He's been playing great tennis.

closing. We have to lever. Thank you to Tim. Thank you for watching and a

:26:54.:26:59.
