Day 3 UK Snooker Championship

What a sporting weekend it has been. Tiger Woods is back in the winner's

circle, Martin O'Neill is back in Premiership football and we are

firmly back in the snooker group here in York in this William Hill

.com United Kingdom championship. We have been rattling through the

first round matches, 12 are already through to round two with four more

births are to be claimed and this afternoon we are set to welcome the

boy wonder who wowed us all at the Judd Trump's irresistible run to

the red -- World Championship final had everybody talking and what more

is expected of him now? But Dominic Dale has got... Legions

of fans as well. Might the Spaceman down the snooker's newest star?

Shropshire's Adrian Gunnell has had to win three matches to get to York,

the second lowest ranked player to make it.

And his reward - a match against Northern Ireland's exciting Mark

Allen who is targeting another run to the semi-finals at least.

So both of those matches are due into the Barbican Centre Arena very

shortly but the great thing for this crowd here in York is that

with no dividing screen this year, they get to keep a close eye on

both matches and in the Spanish are straitened times, that has got to

be good value for money before Christmas. -- in these financially

difficult times. This is Table 1 Seven months since Judd Trump amaze

us in Sheffield but this is no one- hit wonder, he is hungry for more

success. I think now I am looking towards the end of the tournament

and hoping to win them whereas before I was just trying to get

through the first game and play well but now I have got a lot of

confidence and hopefully if I bring my game plan then it will be a good

chance. Dominic Dale is hoping to be a man who came in from the cold

and the idea of playing Super's hottest talent is an exciting one.

something at Bridgend and I have got a good record on him but he has

risen to fame in the past few seasons and he is a real force to

be reckoned with. Judd will not take Dominic likely, he knows the

pedigree of the Welshman but he is determined to enjoy the moment.

know too much about him from the fans at home but we know he is a

very good player. Yes, he has won three matches already. A constant

campaign on the snooker calendar but he is he is against a great

Judd a few times but it will obviously be a tough match if he

plays as well but I am looking forward to it. Ladies and gentlemen,

brightest young star. His bold, attacking style was simply

sensational on the route to the world final in May. The pride of

Bristol, the ace in the pack, Judd Trump!

Judd, it has been an amazing 12 months. What is it like to be in

these major championships now as the man everybody else wants to

beat? It is a lot more fun. Since the World Championship, there has

been a lot more publicity but it brings a bit of extra pressure. I

am hoping to enjoy it. Ladies and gentlemen, it will be a great match.

Britain, he has been in Vienna for four years, he likes to move about

but he is now down at the south- west Academy in Gloucester and that

practise being with some of the other professionals has really

benefited him. He seems to think it has made huge dividends for him.

there is plenty of fresh news about the growth in the organisation --

I am here with Chris Lovell and John Higgins who is not only one of

the head coach's but also heavily involved in the Hunter Foundation.

Anybody who does not know what it is, what is it? It was set up by

Paul and his wife, Lindsay, after he sadly passed away. It is to get

able-bodied disadvantaged youngsters off the Street available

to play free snooker. A certain amount of money was raised and that

was used to get get these children playing. Absolutely. The real

objective is to get a smile on people's faces, make them happy and

bring them into a world of sport and that as we can see is a great

one. It was thought that that pot of money would evaporate and that

will be the end of it but it has grown. Things seem to be growing.

People seem to be supporting us and we have had some staggering

statistics. Lancashire police say we apparently saved hundreds of

exactly what has happened to Dominic Dale. He had Judd Trump

firmly on the reds, got a few breaks in that frame at 4-2 down,

and suddenly the match has changed on its head and it is the other way

round. Dominic has missed a few chances that he was not in the

first few frames and his head is in a jam jar and Judd Trump is on top.

Do you see the pressure beginning to exert on Dominic? Obviously, yes,

when something like that happens, even when Dominic was still 4-3 in

front, you sort of, because you have seen it happens so many times

before, you fear the worst, as if it is then going to go wrong, and

it seems to be amazing how a player with good competitive momentum

behind them, like Judd Trump, always seems to find a way to win a

match, even if he is not supposed to or should not have done on the

day. So Dominic will be sitting there saying, oh, no, it is not
