of redemption. He's done it! That's it. The chance of revenge.

:01:00.:01:15.

There is a new man at the helm of men's tennis, Rafael Nadal! The

:01:16.:01:23.

chance to conquer your past. Game, set, match, Becker. Sport, and

:01:24.:01:32.

I know, there is a second chance. He's done it, he's won it! The

:01:33.:01:57.

chance to write a wrong. Game, set and match, Miss Venus Williams.

:01:58.:02:09.

Game, set and match, Serena Williams. The chance to get it

:02:10.:02:21.

right. She's done it, it's over. And it's always different second time

:02:22.:02:22.

around. Isn't it? SUE BARKER: And we are ready for the

:02:23.:02:37.

rematch. Will Centre Court be the place for Rafael to get his revenge

:02:38.:02:47.

on Lukas Rosol? And it is also the venue for Heather Watson and

:02:48.:02:52.

Angelique Kerber and Roger Federer will also be returning to Centre

:02:53.:02:55.

Court. 40,000 come through the gates each week. But it is not just the

:02:56.:03:02.

Centre Court, it is all around the ground. People are dressed for the

:03:03.:03:06.

occasion. Some better than others. But they end you at home or in for a

:03:07.:03:14.

real treat today. Rafael Nadal takes on Rosol, the man who sensationally

:03:15.:03:18.

beat him at this stage two years ago. Will the sequel have a happy

:03:19.:03:23.

ending for the world number one? Inform Heather Watson is aiming to

:03:24.:03:28.

beat her previous Wimbledon best of reaching the third round, but the

:03:29.:03:32.

British number one faces a tough task against the ninth seed

:03:33.:03:37.

Angelique Kerber. Seven time champion Roger Federer suffered a

:03:38.:03:40.

shock defeat at last a's second round. 12 months on, the king of

:03:41.:03:50.

grass will be looking to sidestep a similar problem against Gilles

:03:51.:03:57.

Muller. Serena Williams is on quest for an 18th Grand Slam title. She is

:03:58.:04:02.

up against Chanelle Scheepers. Maria Sharapova has lost three times in

:04:03.:04:07.

the second round this year. Today the 2004 champion faces Swiss

:04:08.:04:21.

qualifier Timea Bacsinszky. Rafael knows what to expect from this man,

:04:22.:04:27.

big hitter Lukas Rosol, his ranking is 52 in the world but he's always

:04:28.:04:32.

dangerous on the surface. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knows all about

:04:33.:04:36.

this club. He is making his fourth day in a row on court. He is

:04:37.:04:40.

resuming his match against Sam Querrey. Nine games all in the fifth

:04:41.:04:46.

set. That resumes on Court Two. Andy Murray has the day. He was only on

:04:47.:04:50.

court for an hour and a half yesterday. Plenty of for him. He

:04:51.:05:00.

will be on court tomorrow against Roberto Bautista Agut. We will be

:05:01.:05:06.

keeping an eye on Court number three. Milos Raonic is on court. He

:05:07.:05:15.

is up against Jack Sock, the 21-year-old from America. There are

:05:16.:05:18.

three of four Americans who have made it into the second round. Here

:05:19.:05:24.

is Milos Raonic. He is seeded eighth at these championships. He could be

:05:25.:05:27.

a real threat well into this tournament. And Court Two, Richard

:05:28.:05:37.

Gasquet, the 13th seed, he is up against a 19-year-old, the youngest

:05:38.:05:41.

player left in the draw, Nik Kyrgios of Australia. I accidentally said

:05:42.:05:51.

Gilles Simon instead of Gilles Muller. He was a great player. Here

:05:52.:05:56.

we are with John Lloyd and Laura Robson. How are you enjoying

:05:57.:06:02.

Wimbledon without playing it? The hours are definitely longer. I am

:06:03.:06:06.

being put to work. I am really enjoying being able to watch as many

:06:07.:06:11.

matches as possible. You have got the brace on and you have had

:06:12.:06:14.

surgery. We have been talking about a new brace of women's players

:06:15.:06:19.

coming through. It is exciting times. It is and I have seen so many

:06:20.:06:23.

great matches already. We have Heather playing on Centre Court

:06:24.:06:29.

later. Hopefully she will do well but there are so many other matches

:06:30.:06:38.

to watch. It is rougher and Lukas Rosol back on Centre Court. You were

:06:39.:06:42.

commentating on the match two years ago and it was a big upset. We did

:06:43.:06:56.

not know over a much about Rosol. We thought he would start to miss but

:06:57.:07:01.

he did not. Once the roof came on he started playing better and better. I

:07:02.:07:05.

really think Rafa could have stayed there for another week. He was in

:07:06.:07:09.

that mindset where everything he hit turned to gold. There was a bit of

:07:10.:07:14.

aggro in the match which was fun. It was great. Lets remind everyone

:07:15.:07:19.

about that match. It happened two years ago on Centre Court. It

:07:20.:07:25.

featured five amazing sets. Some big hitters and it left a bouncing.

:07:26.:07:40.

What a shock maker this man is. Ladies and gentlemen, due to the

:07:41.:07:52.

fading light, the roof will be closed. Outstanding tennis from

:07:53.:08:00.

Rosol. We are seeing something special. Seven unforced errors in

:08:01.:08:08.

this set. He could win tournaments with that.

:08:09.:08:22.

A man ranked 100 has simply outplayed the man ranked two in the

:08:23.:08:29.

world. Sustained brilliance. That was extraordinary.

:08:30.:08:39.

I wonder is there is no love lost between them now. It was a frosty

:08:40.:08:44.

handshake. There was a lot of controversy. Rafa appealed to the

:08:45.:08:50.

umpire a few times. He was not happy when the roof was closed. And

:08:51.:08:54.

Rosol, it was one of those stunning matches that happens now and again,

:08:55.:08:59.

he was seeing the ball like it was a football. You kept thinking, he

:09:00.:09:06.

can't go on, and he did. 22 aces, 65 winners, 20 of them in the fifth

:09:07.:09:11.

set. He was going for it. Rafa was appealing to the umpire all the

:09:12.:09:16.

time. He was trying to put him off. But it is all part of what you can

:09:17.:09:22.

do now. I think a lot of players do every kind of tactic that they can,

:09:23.:09:26.

especially someone as high ranked as Rafa. I think he took it a bit

:09:27.:09:32.

personally in the end. I'm sure they are fine now but it will be

:09:33.:09:36.

competitive on court today, I would say. This was match point. It was

:09:37.:09:42.

really frosty in contrast to what we saw with Stepanek and Djokovic when

:09:43.:09:47.

he gave him a point. The sportsmanship was unbelievable. They

:09:48.:09:53.

really did not get on. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

:09:54.:09:57.

Sometimes lower ranked players are intimidated when they play top

:09:58.:10:02.

ranked players. They do not too too much about it. Rosol did not care

:10:03.:10:06.

who he played. He was going to beat him that day. He was in the zone

:10:07.:10:10.

from the start of the match to the end. We look at the big four and who

:10:11.:10:15.

had they have got with their coaching. Federer with Edberg,

:10:16.:10:25.

Amelie Mauresmo with Andy Murray but Rafa Nadal has stuck with his uncle

:10:26.:10:27.

Tony. Let's hear from him. The match was really difficult

:10:28.:10:39.

because we remember what happened in the last two years. If he loses

:10:40.:10:48.

against -- he lost against Steve D'Arcy 's in the first round and

:10:49.:10:51.

then he lost two years ago against Rosol. He is so much better, I do

:10:52.:11:00.

know, it is difficult, but he can try. Is he feeling fine? No aches

:11:01.:11:06.

and pains? We play always with pain. The last two years was really

:11:07.:11:19.

difficult. You should play so much down. This year, I hope, is

:11:20.:11:28.

different and I hope Rafael can make a good tournament. For him to go

:11:29.:11:34.

forward in this tournament, how does he manage the pain? Does he do

:11:35.:11:39.

different things on grass than he would at Roland Garros in terms of

:11:40.:11:44.

preparation and rehabilitation? No, no, the preparation is different

:11:45.:11:50.

because Roland Garros is easy for us. But I remember some years

:11:51.:11:59.

before, grass was very good for rough file. 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010

:12:00.:12:11.

and 2011 for Rafael to play on grass, is a good thing. Will we get

:12:12.:12:18.

to the stage where Rafa is still on the tour but he will choose not to

:12:19.:12:24.

play on grass? No, never, because for us to play Wimbledon is always a

:12:25.:12:31.

dream. When Rafael was young, my dream was to win one time here, to

:12:32.:12:38.

come every year here for me is a dream. And finally, Rosol in the

:12:39.:12:43.

next round, you hope history does not repeat itself? You hope! But I

:12:44.:12:51.

know Rosol is a very difficult player because he has a good serve,

:12:52.:12:57.

it is complicated to play against a player like Rosol because you are

:12:58.:13:08.

always in water up to here but I hope Rafael is good for trying to

:13:09.:13:14.

beat Lukas Rosol. We try. I don't know what happens later but I hope.

:13:15.:13:24.

He does not sound too confident but then he never does! How tough is it

:13:25.:13:28.

to go one against an opponent where you have had a big shock? I think

:13:29.:13:33.

Rafa was really confident so I do not think he will be thinking too

:13:34.:13:41.

much about their previous match. He came out of a tough one will stop he

:13:42.:13:44.

is dangerous if he hits the ball like he did last time. It was huge

:13:45.:13:48.

in his eyes. But everyone is going to be looking forward to watching

:13:49.:13:52.

that match. I would say Rafa will come out on top today. It is also

:13:53.:13:58.

tough because the French Wimbledon double has only been done by Rafa

:13:59.:14:03.

and Bjorn in the open era. His body is weary after the French. Without

:14:04.:14:07.

question, it is the toughest thing to do. It is the toughest thing.

:14:08.:14:13.

Next year there will be three weeks gap so it will not be as tough. If

:14:14.:14:19.

Rafa does it, it will be a magnificent performance. So we are

:14:20.:14:27.

not expecting another big shock? No, but he will be dangerous. Roger

:14:28.:14:31.

Federer loves being on Centre Court. No one is talking about him as a

:14:32.:14:35.

potential winner but you cannot write him off? You cannot write him

:14:36.:14:43.

off. He is playing Gilles Muller. He is ten set to zero at the moment. A

:14:44.:14:49.

fellow lefty. I think Federer is playing well. No one is really

:14:50.:14:54.

talking. It is all about Djokovic and Murray. Federer is happy about

:14:55.:14:58.

that. He has Edberg in his corner now. He is dangerous. Heather

:14:59.:15:06.

tweeted that she is in a Rafa Roger sandwich on Centre Court! She is

:15:07.:15:10.

playing some of her best tennis now because she has finally got herself

:15:11.:15:14.

fit and healthy. All of the other players are so happy to see her

:15:15.:15:18.

doing well again. It has taken a long time to get back but she had a

:15:19.:15:23.

really good result in Eastbourne. Her first-round opponent was really

:15:24.:15:26.

tough. I thought it would be a lot closer. She pulled it out and played

:15:27.:15:30.

very aggressive and I'm sure she will be looking to do the same

:15:31.:15:39.

against Kerber. This is her warming up for her warm up. Such a big day

:15:40.:15:43.

and a big occasion. You know what it is like going out on Centre Court.

:15:44.:15:49.

It is a daunting prospect. It is, but an exciting one. It is an

:15:50.:15:57.

enjoyable experience. She has won twice out there already. Angelique

:15:58.:16:00.

Kerber is a difficult opponent and was a finalist at Eastbourne last

:16:01.:16:05.

week. Yes, I played her here couple of years ago and that was before she

:16:06.:16:09.

started doing well. She has improved out of sight in the last two years

:16:10.:16:15.

or so. She's always a tough opponent. She hits shots that you

:16:16.:16:20.

have no idea how they go in. We will see later on. Let's hear from

:16:21.:16:25.

Heather because in keeping with her centre stage appearance today, she

:16:26.:16:29.

has been rubbing shoulders with a superstar.

:16:30.:16:38.

I was walking down the stairs and I had a mini panic attack because I

:16:39.:16:44.

saw Samuel L Jackson. I asked him for a quick selfie and Grigor

:16:45.:16:50.

Dimitrov photo bombed our selfie! He looks really fit and healthy like he

:16:51.:16:55.

plays tennis as well. When I took the selfie I took it with my broken

:16:56.:17:01.

phone. He said with that broke as phone? ! I have known I love a long

:17:02.:17:14.

time. We played doubles and won the title together. It is tough playing

:17:15.:17:20.

a friend of the court. I knew it would not be easy. I had a game plan

:17:21.:17:24.

and I stuck to it and it worked well. How were the nerves out there?

:17:25.:17:32.

It is not easy, British number one, full stands, how tough was it to

:17:33.:17:36.

cope with? I was quite nervous going into the match. I did not sleep

:17:37.:17:40.

great the night before but I never do. I was eating a banana for and my

:17:41.:17:46.

jaw was not opening properly because of my nerves. Once I got out,

:17:47.:17:50.

stepped onto court before the warm up, I was feeling good and I just

:17:51.:17:56.

got rid of the nerves. In terms of the fashion out there, it looks like

:17:57.:18:02.

you have a new dress on with their high waistline and it is floaty.

:18:03.:18:09.

Talk us through the dress. Yes, this is my tennis dress. It has a wasted

:18:10.:18:15.

skirt look about it. But it worked today! It worked. It is pretty windy

:18:16.:18:26.

today. Angelique Kerber, you know how to beat her, you did it back in

:18:27.:18:30.

2011, what where the tactics you used and are there any weaknesses?

:18:31.:18:37.

Back when I played her, I had not won a match at Wimbledon. I was

:18:38.:18:42.

super nervous. I do not know what that celebration was! We were

:18:43.:18:47.

outside court. Both my parents were watching. Angie, she is pretty low

:18:48.:18:52.

on confidence. She she started to do well that year. Then she made it to

:18:53.:18:57.

the top ten and kept going and won a couple of titles. She seems a dog

:18:58.:19:02.

with opponent, she keeps you in those rallies? Guess, she moves

:19:03.:19:09.

extremely well. She can keep the rallies going much longer than I

:19:10.:19:12.

would like and fortunately! What about Heather? She has got to be

:19:13.:19:18.

really aggressive like she was in the first round, play her own game

:19:19.:19:21.

and not get caught up in the situation but I think she will be

:19:22.:19:26.

fine. There are a number of up-and-coming women on the tour. Sam

:19:27.:19:30.

Smith has been looking at some of those who are rising up the

:19:31.:19:31.

rankings. There have been many legends of the

:19:32.:19:43.

women's games over the years but there is a new group waiting in the

:19:44.:19:48.

wings, ready to write their own places in history books. There is

:19:49.:19:55.

definitely a group of younger players who are finding their games

:19:56.:20:00.

and figuring it out a little bit more. The younger generation will

:20:01.:20:04.

eventually come through and surpass the current generation. White macro

:20:05.:20:11.

one woman who is already on highway is Simona Hallett. I set my dream is

:20:12.:20:23.

to play the big final. I am willing to be disappointed because I lost

:20:24.:20:27.

it. Still, I am very happy for the result. I have to enjoy this moment

:20:28.:20:40.

because it is the best. I'm happy to be here now. Teenager Madison Keys

:20:41.:20:50.

is not fazed at the tag of being one of America's hottest tennis

:20:51.:20:56.

talents. Really, I'm trying to play tennis for myself and do as best as

:20:57.:21:05.

I can. This is the youngster in the pack. Last year, she won the girls

:21:06.:21:11.

title and she has the ideal game for grass. She has got it! She has added

:21:12.:21:20.

the Wimbledon title to her resume. And then there is Canadian Eugenie

:21:21.:21:25.

Bouchard. She was the 2012 junior champion and she is a contender for

:21:26.:21:32.

some of tennis's biggest prizes. This motivates me to work even

:21:33.:21:37.

harder. I just want to give it my all and I am enjoying it so much.

:21:38.:21:44.

Life is good. The youth brigade are on the march at the Championships.

:21:45.:21:51.

The top women had better watch out. We have picked out as many as we

:21:52.:22:00.

could. Did we miss one? Wozniacki is playing a girl called Anaconda

:22:01.:22:03.

tomorrow and she is 16. She makes me feel really old! -- Ana Konjuh. It

:22:04.:22:15.

will be really tough for Caroline. I'm surprised she was not in there.

:22:16.:22:19.

Too many to choose from. Who has impressed you? Eugenie Bouchard. I

:22:20.:22:26.

look back at some of the olden days when you had Steffi Graf, Martina

:22:27.:22:33.

and Chrissy, a lot of women were intimidated by them. But this breed

:22:34.:22:38.

coming up, they are not scared of the top women. They regard it as a

:22:39.:22:42.

challenge and a scalp and there is no fear factor any more. You really

:22:43.:22:48.

grew up in some ways with each a knee. You know her well? Guess, we

:22:49.:22:58.

all played in junior matches -- you shame you douche. -- you shame the

:22:59.:23:03.

Bouchard. You know Madison Keys well. These

:23:04.:23:14.

are the rankings. Madison Keys once some champagne at

:23:15.:23:45.

Eastbourne. She won some champagne and sent me a message promising to

:23:46.:23:50.

share it and I have not seen it yet! I do not know if she is saving it

:23:51.:23:53.

for after this tournament but I will be waiting. How do the younger women

:23:54.:24:00.

in the locker room with the likes of Maria and Serena who have been at

:24:01.:24:03.

the top of the game for so many years, are they intimidated or not

:24:04.:24:10.

so much? The seeded players are separate in a different locker room

:24:11.:24:15.

that everyone is looking to beat whoever is opposite the net. I am

:24:16.:24:26.

looking forward to a potential Eugenie Bouchard Williams fourth

:24:27.:24:30.

round. And we are looking forward to getting you back on a tennis court.

:24:31.:24:37.

It is a day by day thing. I am doing my scar massages when I am not on

:24:38.:24:48.

TV! OK, we are all -- almost ready for our live matches on BBC Two. But

:24:49.:24:53.

what about the weather? Carole Walker did allow a building with a

:24:54.:25:00.

large bouquet of flowers. Who were they for? -- Carol Kirkwood walked

:25:01.:25:10.

into our building with a large bouquet of flowers. Did you make

:25:11.:25:18.

these hats yourselves? We did. My grand daughter showed me how to make

:25:19.:25:24.

the reset, very easy. Where have you come from? We have come from

:25:25.:25:29.

Plymouth. We started camping out yesterday morning. What was that

:25:30.:25:34.

like? The sun was shining, we had some wine and it was fine. I notice

:25:35.:25:43.

you have brought me some! That is mine, nice try! Hope you have a

:25:44.:25:50.

fabulous day. We do have some cloud across us at the moment. We are

:25:51.:25:54.

likely to hang onto that for a time yet. It is high cloud. It will then,

:25:55.:26:00.

it will break and there will be some sunny spells. The top temperature

:26:01.:26:05.

will be 19 or 20 Celsius. Into the evening we are looking at a very

:26:06.:26:15.

similar scenario. It should stay dry. The light may deteriorate. And

:26:16.:26:18.

the pollen levels are not very high today. They are going down over the

:26:19.:26:23.

next few days as well. Thank you. I know you have predicted

:26:24.:26:27.

some rain for tomorrow but we will not worry about that now. They have

:26:28.:26:34.

got a lot to enjoy up on the hill on the big screen.

:26:35.:27:03.

Laura was just telling me that Stanislas Wawrinka was out for a

:27:04.:27:08.

long run this morning prior to his match.

:27:09.:27:17.

Play is underway on the outside courts.

:27:18.:27:34.

The match on number two court is on the red button.

:27:35.:27:59.

You can follow that match online. Coverage of 12 court online.

:28:00.:28:29.

We are heading to court number 32 C Milos Raonic, big server from

:28:30.:28:39.

Canada, up against Jack Sock, the 21-year-old from America. We can

:28:40.:28:41.

join that one. After the first two games went a

:28:42.:28:58.

point without serve, Milos Raonic has a second break point in the

:28:59.:29:01.

fourth game. Rannoch unable to put the ball back

:29:02.:29:16.

in play. -- Raonic. He wants to see if there is any

:29:17.:29:49.

paint on the ball. The umpire is announcing the second challenge.

:29:50.:29:57.

They are both wrong. Sock. You can see how very

:29:58.:30:36.

comfortable Milos Raonic is. That is wonderful wrist action around the

:30:37.:30:37.

outside of the ball. Jack Sock is still struggling to get

:30:38.:31:09.

the ball to the background of Milos Raonic. Jack Sock is definitely not

:31:10.:31:23.

as comfortable as his opponent. A third break point for Milos Raonic.

:31:24.:31:32.

He tried to do something different. He tried to surprise him.

:31:33.:31:51.

That was a very loose backhand from Milos Raonic. There are no surprises

:31:52.:32:04.

from these tennis players. Everyone knows everyone else's strengths and

:32:05.:32:10.

weaknesses. The coaches can figure it out very easily.

:32:11.:32:21.

Milos Raonic breaks. Break point could be a right -- rarity today.

:32:22.:33:04.

You can see the coaches there. These guys are very into his matches. They

:33:05.:33:06.

love giving him support. That is a bad start from the

:33:07.:33:29.

American player. His opponent is ranked a lot higher. You must get

:33:30.:33:34.

off to a good start and it has been shaky from this man. Milos Raonic is

:33:35.:33:42.

putting allsorts of pressure on him. He is frustrated. It is

:33:43.:33:54.

self-inflicted. It is. One of the things his people talk to him about

:33:55.:33:57.

was that he had to stay with this man throughout the match. The paint

:33:58.:34:06.

blew up. It was beyond the service line. That was not. He made a lovely

:34:07.:34:14.

little adjustment to keep it inside the lines.

:34:15.:34:36.

Only the second point that Jock sat -- Jack Sock has won on the Serb of

:34:37.:34:42.

Milos Raonic. -- on the server. He keeps missing that I can. --

:34:43.:35:24.

missing that backhand. Milos Raonic comes into this tournament with some

:35:25.:35:29.

great confidence. He knows he can hold up his seeding and it is not

:35:30.:35:32.

easy to do. The first double fault. Milos Raonic

:35:33.:36:08.

has some tape on his arm. There is something wrong with it and he is

:36:09.:36:15.

trying to protect it. That's what allowed him to make a great first

:36:16.:36:21.

serve. The case has gone from his serve. -- the pace.

:36:22.:36:50.

Jack Sock is picking on the backhand but the trouble is can he allow

:36:51.:36:57.

himself to pick on those areas and get into this match? There is a big

:36:58.:37:02.

difference between the first-served and the second serve of Milos

:37:03.:37:04.

Raonic. A huge difference. That is a big serve out wide. Even a

:37:05.:37:37.

wide search, he had said very hard. -- wide serve. Finally Milos Raonic

:37:38.:37:42.

holds. Just the one break at 4-1. We talked

:37:43.:38:02.

about Milos Raonic. We talked about what his coach has done for him. My

:38:03.:38:09.

view is that because his coach is from Croatia but spent a lot of his

:38:10.:38:14.

childhood in Italy, he was born in Bosnia, his coach groups that Balkan

:38:15.:38:23.

and European mentality. Milos Raonic was born in Montenegro. He lived

:38:24.:38:29.

there until he was three years old and his parents then went to Canada.

:38:30.:38:34.

I suspect he has found that mixture in his coach. Part of that mentality

:38:35.:38:42.

is that his coach was always a great thinker on the court, he thought of

:38:43.:38:47.

himself as mentality and he thinks that of his player. Milos Raonic, he

:38:48.:38:56.

looks you in the eye when he talks to you. Not a lot of players do

:38:57.:38:58.

that. I told you it was a Canadian net!

:38:59.:39:35.

That was a wonderful first-served and Milos Raonic was very lucky to

:39:36.:39:37.

get that all back. -- that ball. He is serving too many double

:39:38.:40:08.

faults. Three of them in total. He is serving and volleying quite a

:40:09.:40:15.

bit. That is where he is most comfortable.

:40:16.:40:49.

That is a little bit silly from Jack Sock. You cannot lob at someone who

:40:50.:40:56.

is 6'5". That is a weak shot. Milos Raonic

:40:57.:41:18.

seems to have trouble concentrating. There are a lot of unforced errors.

:41:19.:41:25.

Jack Sock is playing fast now. He almost wants this set to be

:41:26.:41:36.

finished. That is a lovely volley. I think rail and each is complaining

:41:37.:41:41.

that the server was wide. -- Milos Raonic. You are supposed to play to

:41:42.:42:05.

the rhythm of the server. If Milos Raonic does not like what is

:42:06.:42:09.

happening, he can try to slow the server down by turning his back.

:42:10.:42:21.

That was an elementary error. Jack Sock came in and played his folly

:42:22.:42:28.

and then watched it. He was not ready for this at all. -- played his

:42:29.:42:32.

volley. Jack Sock calls from 13-40. Maybe

:42:33.:43:03.

this set is not over after all. Jack Sock is not happy with how he is

:43:04.:43:09.

playing. He is rushing with his serve.

:43:10.:44:49.

This is the problem for Jack Sock. When you have lost your serve, it is

:44:50.:44:55.

very difficult to get it back from Milos Raonic.

:44:56.:45:28.

That is one of the problems for Milos Raonic. When he comes forward,

:45:29.:45:37.

he is not ridiculously comfortable. You can see yet. A lot of the balls

:45:38.:45:43.

drop at his feet and he is not getting close and not to be able to

:45:44.:45:53.

volley them. But he still manages to hold and leads by five games to two.

:45:54.:46:07.

We have heard that a physio may be called for Jack Sock. There is

:46:08.:46:16.

nobody inside at the moment. The umpire is leaning forward to try and

:46:17.:46:19.

get some information. But here comes the trainer. SUE BARKER: let's take

:46:20.:46:48.

around -- take a look around the other matches. This is what is

:46:49.:46:51.

happening on Court Number Two. So much to look forward to later on

:46:52.:48:08.

today. We are enjoying this match. COMMENTATOR: the doctor has come on

:48:09.:48:15.

court. I have a problem with this, I really

:48:16.:48:32.

do. It causes an interruption to his opponent. He is winning, there is

:48:33.:48:45.

nothing wrong with him. He has just taken some medication. There is no

:48:46.:48:54.

need for a break for that, is there? He could have just taken that at a

:48:55.:48:57.

change of ends without there being any delay at all. There was no need

:48:58.:49:03.

for all this commotion. That was a great body serve. Ever

:49:04.:49:28.

since he lost his serve, he has not been the same person. It just shows

:49:29.:49:36.

that the break of serve is such a premium in this match.

:49:37.:49:59.

The fourth double fault for Jack Sock. But I think that is a

:50:00.:50:06.

reasonable double fault because he was going for a great second serve.

:50:07.:50:14.

I really like the fact that he is coming into the net as much as he

:50:15.:50:19.

is. But I would like to see him coming in more. He seems a lot more

:50:20.:50:24.

comfortable in the front of the court. Jack Sock was tentative in

:50:25.:50:44.

that and he could not convert them. Jack Sock still had a chance to win

:50:45.:50:51.

the game. Milos Raonic serving to take the first set.

:50:52.:51:03.

At what point should his opponents start to read the serve? I do not

:51:04.:51:11.

think he can. One thing about that serve is that he throws the ball

:51:12.:51:16.

toss in the same place, each and every time. It is very hard to

:51:17.:51:22.

anticipate what is coming. Even when he is in the right position, he is

:51:23.:51:26.

trouble -- has trouble getting the ball back in play. He has not tested

:51:27.:51:33.

the serve up his opponent. -- the serve of his opponent.

:51:34.:51:59.

We thought this match would be one on Serbs. -- would be one on Serbs.

:52:00.:52:23.

It is set point. That was a fairly easy set for Milos Raonic. He takes

:52:24.:52:30.

it 6-3. Just the one break of serve. We talk a lot about the serve of

:52:31.:52:43.

Milos Raonic. He hit six aces. Here are the statistics. The serve was

:52:44.:52:56.

dominant. Look at what happened. Milos Raonic putting all kinds of

:52:57.:53:01.

pressure on the serve of Jack Sock. He only converted one out of six.

:53:02.:53:07.

Jack Sock is not even getting a look in on his serve. If the match

:53:08.:53:11.

continues to play out in this fashion, there will only be one

:53:12.:53:17.

winner. Here is the service action of Milos Raonic. Nothing goes wrong

:53:18.:53:25.

with the serve, it is fluid, it is relaxed and he is a very tall man.

:53:26.:53:33.

He fully extends. All he has to do is hit it at the peak and he is so

:53:34.:53:37.

confident with it, whether it is the first serve or the second serve. He

:53:38.:53:43.

hits the ball on almost a downward trajectory and I absolutely love it.

:53:44.:53:48.

I think it is one of the best in the game today.

:53:49.:54:09.

He needs to get away from that first set and forget about it. He needs to

:54:10.:54:17.

get more versed serve sin. He needs to play with more passion and

:54:18.:54:21.

energy. His spirit has been broken slightly. -- get more first serves

:54:22.:54:24.

in. That is the second time that Jack

:54:25.:55:07.

Sock has attempted to lob the ball. You do not see singles players doing

:55:08.:55:13.

that. But is more likely in doubles play.

:55:14.:55:40.

Milos Raonic is not entirely convinced about that one. The

:55:41.:55:48.

problem with that is that he was in control of the point and did not

:55:49.:55:52.

actually want to come forward. He had Jack Sock on the run all over

:55:53.:55:54.

the court. Right now, he has got to be feeling

:55:55.:56:17.

all kinds of pressure. All of those double faults. Before you know what,

:56:18.:56:25.

if he goes down an early break here, it might be the last of his hopes

:56:26.:56:27.

for this match. Well played. That was a great

:56:28.:56:56.

forehand played on the run. This is explosive. Look at this. It does not

:56:57.:57:12.

get any better than this. Break point to Milos Raonic.

:57:13.:57:59.

He has missed it. That approach shot from Jack Sock came perilously close

:58:00.:58:09.

to being long. But you have to give him credit for having the courage to

:58:10.:58:17.

come forward. Milos Raonic did not even make Jack Sock play that folly.

:58:18.:58:21.

-- that volley. That was a great shot and he read

:58:22.:58:52.

that perfectly. That first volley was nice and tight and then he

:58:53.:58:55.

guesses correctly. Absolutely perfect.

:58:56.:59:02.

That is a great serve out wide. That will do a lot for his confidence. It

:59:03.:59:20.

keeps the match competitive. If you think that Wimbledon is only about

:59:21.:59:23.

grass courts, there are hard courts here as well, there is red clay,

:59:24.:59:29.

there is dark green clay. This is just across the road, we find the

:59:30.:59:36.

golf course. If you are not happy with your tennis, you can just go

:59:37.:59:38.

and jump in the lake! When you have ground strokes as big

:59:39.:00:01.

as that, to accompany that wonderful serve, it makes coming into the net

:00:02.:00:05.

so easy. There is no reason to panic. Jack Sock is way off the

:00:06.:00:08.

court. It is the first time he has had to

:00:09.:00:26.

play a volley. He kept the racket in front. His technique was not great.

:00:27.:01:17.

He was on the defensive but at least get it over the net.

:01:18.:01:34.

I think the one advantage Sock has is that he can move. He was asked to

:01:35.:01:43.

take his pullover off at the start of the match because it has some

:01:44.:01:49.

black trim on it. These guys should know better. They are being very

:01:50.:01:53.

strict on the rules this year about all white.

:01:54.:02:06.

Raonic stopped because he was not sure where the ball was going to go.

:02:07.:02:13.

He has got to keep going. He stops. He is waiting to see what happens.

:02:14.:02:18.

That shows me he is not that comfortable moving forward.

:02:19.:03:01.

He has an interesting looking forehand.

:03:02.:03:09.

It is almost like if he had a hockey stick in his hand.

:03:10.:03:22.

And ice hockey stick! We make the difference over here.

:03:23.:03:34.

Six double faults forward Jack Sock. He is pressing. He feels how

:03:35.:03:46.

difficult it is to return. He is giving Raonic so much credit.

:03:47.:04:06.

He has a good second serve. Raonic as to make him pay. You have

:04:07.:04:31.

to take advantage. That was a poor forehand by Sock.

:04:32.:05:01.

That may be the one that concedes the match. I know we are long way

:05:02.:05:08.

from the end. It is hard to see him breaking Raonic. Raonic leads with a

:05:09.:05:10.

break in the second. It is not the warmest day of the

:05:11.:05:23.

week so far. But there are plenty of people enjoying their picnic and

:05:24.:05:24.

watching the big screen. This is the players' restaurant. We

:05:25.:05:41.

should perhaps call it players and players associates because there are

:05:42.:05:51.

a lot more associates than players. It is still a good day for the

:05:52.:05:52.

suncream. That is the millennium building,

:05:53.:06:12.

completed for the year 2000. There is a footbridge to Centre Court.

:06:13.:06:23.

Jack Sock is in trouble here. A set down, 1-2 with a break. Raonic's

:06:24.:06:31.

main concern is the son. Seven double faults tells me he has

:06:32.:06:52.

come into the match shaky, not confident.

:06:53.:07:16.

He is really starting to lose the plot.

:07:17.:07:58.

Are we perhaps undervaluing what Brown which has achieved here?

:07:59.:08:02.

Here's the night in the world -- Raonic has achieved? He's just

:08:03.:08:08.

coming off his fourth quarterfinal at the French Open. Sock is 77 and

:08:09.:08:14.

never been in a singles final. Surely the school we have got now is

:08:15.:08:21.

entirely natural. We are not devaluing how good Raonic is. It is

:08:22.:08:26.

about that Sock is playing so poorly.

:08:27.:08:47.

This is a classic combination of one player playing pretty well and the

:08:48.:09:17.

other beside himself, not knowing what to do.

:09:18.:09:48.

I get the sense that the crowd want this to be more of a contest. That

:09:49.:09:53.

was really warm applause for Jack Sock.

:09:54.:10:07.

A good body serve from Sock. He is hanging in there. That is about all

:10:08.:10:39.

you can say for him at the moment. SUE BARKER: We will be back with

:10:40.:10:41.

this match in just a moment. Gael Monfils looks to be in trouble

:10:42.:11:04.

out on court 12. You can follow that match online.

:11:05.:11:29.

Lee's Cornet has been improving her world ranking every year. -- Lee's

:11:30.:11:33.

Cornet. It is important that he keeps his

:11:34.:12:22.

focus. How many net calls as he had? Every

:12:23.:13:27.

time the ball has bounced off the top of the net, it has worked

:13:28.:13:34.

Raonic's way. He is not getting in close enough. He waits for the ball

:13:35.:13:37.

to come to him and he just gets lucky.

:13:38.:14:00.

We have seen it a lot where a player makes a shot and the ball goes

:14:01.:14:09.

behind them. On the change in direction they fall. It was the

:14:10.:14:13.

change in direction. There is still a fair bit of grass there but it has

:14:14.:14:16.

lost its that. That was a much better return from

:14:17.:14:41.

Sock. He is more relaxed. It is a second serve and he decides he will

:14:42.:14:43.

just go for it. Once again, Jack Sock having a

:14:44.:15:43.

reasonable shot at that return. He pops it down the middle of the

:15:44.:15:44.

court. Sock needs to slow down. He is

:15:45.:16:01.

playing fast. He is angry. get excited happy when he hits a

:16:02.:16:48.

shot like this because in the back of his mind he is thinking, how am I

:16:49.:16:53.

going to break serve? I am already down a set and down a break. There

:16:54.:17:03.

is a lot of negativity coming from there.

:17:04.:17:28.

That was a good game for Jack Sock. He stays in contact but still a

:17:29.:17:34.

break down. People have talked about Milos

:17:35.:17:53.

Raonic through while as leader of the next generation, whoever you

:17:54.:17:56.

include, whether you include Nishikori, Dimitrov and Dolgopolov.

:17:57.:18:05.

He has re-established himself in the top ten. Do you see himself as a two

:18:06.:18:14.

or three times Grand Slam champion, once the likes of Djokovic, Nadal

:18:15.:18:18.

and Murray have retired or past their best? I think he has the

:18:19.:18:24.

potential to be a Grand Slam champion. Certainly, the forehand is

:18:25.:18:34.

Grand Slam Championship worthy. The rest of the game needs to get a

:18:35.:18:35.

little bit better. When you are playing against someone

:18:36.:19:31.

serving like this and you're down a set and down a break, it is hard to

:19:32.:19:35.

see the silver lining. Sock has had a few points off the

:19:36.:20:04.

Raonic's serve. Even the second serve is hard to get

:20:05.:20:57.

back into play. We were watching Raonic out here. He

:20:58.:21:09.

was saying how Sock is 21 years of age. He is 23. It is almost as if he

:21:10.:21:16.

is the elder statesman. He has been around longer. He did not break into

:21:17.:21:21.

the top ten until earlier this year. It was after his run to the

:21:22.:21:25.

quarterfinals in Miami where he beat Murray in the fourth round.

:21:26.:22:26.

That was long. Raonic tried a drop shot and he hit the ball right to

:22:27.:22:38.

wear Sock was standing. Every time Sock has played a drop shot, he has

:22:39.:22:47.

not known what to do on the shot afterwards. Dazed and confused.

:22:48.:23:05.

That is the strategy, pound away at the backhand. When he can get to the

:23:06.:23:10.

backhand. That was a lovely touch. I did that

:23:11.:23:28.

come from? Raonic will have to serve out the set.

:23:29.:23:50.

Shows what the American can do. Was his head right or was that devil may

:23:51.:23:59.

care? Throwing caution to the wind? It was gorgeous but if he had missed

:24:00.:24:07.

it, you would say he had checked out mentally. Exactly. But the motion is

:24:08.:24:14.

good. That shows you what he's capable of doing. Right now he is

:24:15.:24:19.

putting himself in a bad position by not playing his best against someone

:24:20.:24:21.

who is awfully good. Raonic got that right onto the

:24:22.:25:04.

baseline. That was a nice second serve. That

:25:05.:25:53.

was faster than his first serve. If it was anyone else you would say he

:25:54.:25:57.

was showboating but this is the way that Raonic can put his foot on the

:25:58.:25:59.

gas pedal. And able to play the most casual of

:26:00.:26:18.

half volleys. In control of this match, Raonic leads by two sets to

:26:19.:26:22.

zero. SUE BARKER: So Raonic is two sets to

:26:23.:26:31.

love up. We will leave that match. If you want to follow it you can

:26:32.:26:38.

online. We are heading off to Centre Court shortly. Let's just drop in on

:26:39.:26:44.

Course 12 where Gael Monfils is there. He is struggling in his

:26:45.:26:49.

match. When he played his first round match he looks rather

:26:50.:26:55.

sluggish. Lee McKenzie is there. You watched him in the first round, what

:26:56.:27:02.

is wrong here? He has dropped two sets. I spoke to him on the other

:27:03.:27:06.

night. He was explaining that although he had had a lot of

:27:07.:27:10.

discussions with the umpire, that is how he plays. He is very relaxed

:27:11.:27:14.

when he gets onto the tennis court and he has to do something to

:27:15.:27:20.

motivate himself. He almost causes problems for himself but also for

:27:21.:27:24.

his opponent, tries to get under his skin. His exact words were, I am

:27:25.:27:29.

sneaky. At the moment it is not really paying off. He has dropped

:27:30.:27:35.

two sets. He also told me that he knows instantly when he wakes up in

:27:36.:27:39.

the morning whether he is going to win or not. I'm guessing this

:27:40.:27:44.

morning it was not. Thank you. Up against a guy who is six foot six

:27:45.:27:49.

and won the junior boys here and knows how to play on grass. So Gael

:27:50.:27:54.

Monfils, the 24th seed is in trouble. You can follow that match

:27:55.:27:59.

on the red button. We will turn our attention to the Centre Court.

:28:00.:28:03.

Coming up, it is the world number one.

:28:04.:28:28.

Well, Rafa will be returning to Centre Court with the rematch of the

:28:29.:28:36.

man who beat him two years ago, Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic.

:28:37.:28:41.

He won it in five thrilling sets. Jonathan Edwards is here, by the

:28:42.:28:45.

look of it. Many people wanting to see this one. A great programme with

:28:46.:28:50.

Rafa, Heather Watson and Roger Federer on. But all the talk has

:28:51.:28:56.

been about Rafael Nadal and Lukas Rosol. Can he pull off another big

:28:57.:29:01.

shock? I am joined here courtside by Mark Petchey and Peter Fleming. We

:29:02.:29:05.

talk about that match two years ago, not only was it a five set

:29:06.:29:14.

thriller, it was quite a testy encounter, wasn't it? It certainly

:29:15.:29:39.

was. Lukas Rosol got under his skin two years ago, moving around the

:29:40.:29:47.

court. He did, and it went into a rain delay with Rosol just a couple

:29:48.:29:58.

of games from winning a bit -- it, and when they came back out, a

:29:59.:30:04.

series of races, he was amazing. We await the arrival on centre, and

:30:05.:30:08.

Rafa probably has more routines than most people to get ready. He adjusts

:30:09.:30:14.

all sort of parts of his attire and the tennis rackets and so on. It is

:30:15.:30:19.

tough on the body. The knees have been an issue for him, the back has

:30:20.:30:23.

been an issue, and grass is an unforgiving surface. That is why he

:30:24.:30:30.

has been an advocate of trying to play as much on clay as possible.

:30:31.:30:36.

CHEERING A huge ovation for Rafa, he is such

:30:37.:30:54.

a popular player, and a gracious champion. He is terrific. Watching

:30:55.:31:10.

his match against Clyde -- Klizan in the first round, he just ground him

:31:11.:31:14.

down. By the end of the third or fourth set, in between points, he

:31:15.:31:24.

was walking, but as soon as the point started, he was sprinting

:31:25.:31:27.

around the court as quick as ever. He has an amazing pain threshold. He

:31:28.:31:35.

was talking about the back being an issue during the French Open. It has

:31:36.:31:42.

been part of the whole year, I think. He had to change his service

:31:43.:31:48.

motion a bit at Indian Wells. Just try to take some of the strain off

:31:49.:31:53.

the back. So it has been a bit of a problem for him throughout the

:31:54.:31:58.

course of the year. Last year was very reminiscent of the first year

:31:59.:32:05.

he won the French Open. Once he won his first French Open, he was

:32:06.:32:10.

exhausted coming into Wimbledon, he was emotionally drained. And having

:32:11.:32:19.

had that incredible run in 2013, to in his winner Roland Garros, he was

:32:20.:32:25.

a little flat last year. He will be ready to challenge. His game is very

:32:26.:32:30.

physical, but that is the only way he knows how to play. That's right.

:32:31.:32:37.

Even on the camera behind the court, it is very difficult to tell how

:32:38.:32:40.

hard he swings at the ball, every single ball. He hits it almost as

:32:41.:32:45.

hard as he can, and when he is feeling confident, he is virtually

:32:46.:32:51.

unplayable. And when you look at Lukas Rosol, and they are taking

:32:52.:33:03.

their time. He hit 20 aces in a match, and he will have to play that

:33:04.:33:13.

well again. Yes, Rosol is forcing Nadal to break his routine and out

:33:14.:33:17.

first. There are mind games going on a tween them. It looks like they are

:33:18.:33:26.

ready for a prize fight, jumping up and down. Let's just see. Rosol has

:33:27.:33:36.

won the toss, and there he goes. He is ready, and we're ready this

:33:37.:33:40.

match. I wonder if Lukas Rosol is ready as well. It is a repeat of

:33:41.:33:44.

their match two years ago, and he came into our office to relive some

:33:45.:33:46.

of those memories. When you look back at that, do you

:33:47.:34:05.

still remember the pressures? Yes, I was feeling strange watching these

:34:06.:34:11.

moments of the match. The emotions are good for me, and it is something

:34:12.:34:16.

special to watch this match, because everything was working well for me.

:34:17.:34:21.

UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, due to the fading light, the roof will be

:34:22.:34:29.

closed to finish the match. Rafer didn't want that, did you? I wanted

:34:30.:34:36.

to finish the match. They told me it would be 30 to 40 minutes to close

:34:37.:34:41.

the roof. So I went to take a shower, eat something, come back to

:34:42.:34:45.

the court. You came back out with such incredible intensity. You wear

:34:46.:34:55.

in the different worlds. You have to stay with your mind on the court,

:34:56.:34:58.

you use your habits to free your mind. If you feel all the pressure

:34:59.:35:03.

around the court, it is very difficult to even step on the court.

:35:04.:35:09.

We saw that incredible picture of Rafa where he looked shell-shocked.

:35:10.:35:13.

Could you feel his nerves coming through at that stage? No. I was

:35:14.:35:21.

only thinking of myself. Just try to concentrate on my game and it was

:35:22.:35:27.

working. After you won that much, you said, maybe it is once in your

:35:28.:35:30.

life that you can play like this against Rafa Nadal on second court

:35:31.:35:38.

and beat him. I guess you are hoping maybe it is twice in your life now!

:35:39.:35:43.

The game is open and everything is possible. After this match I know

:35:44.:35:48.

that I can play with any player, and if it is really working, my game, it

:35:49.:35:55.

is difficult to play against me. And in terms of experience, how much do

:35:56.:35:58.

you think that you can learn and take from what you went through

:35:59.:36:04.

against Rafer last time -- against Rafa. I think it means that any

:36:05.:36:16.

player can play against the top five for the top three. After this match,

:36:17.:36:24.

I know more that every player is beatable. You don't fear Rafael

:36:25.:36:32.

Nadal? No, why should I? I have nothing to lose. He can fear. Just

:36:33.:36:39.

watching Rafa on this court, and listening to how heavy he hits the

:36:40.:36:45.

ball, incredible. It is, and Rafa has a way of punishing you when you

:36:46.:36:51.

beat him, as well. Generally, when that has happened in his career, he

:36:52.:36:54.

has gone out and made a statement the next time. There is a real sort

:36:55.:37:00.

of ferocity about him right now, about his facial expressions. He is

:37:01.:37:06.

the ultimate competitor, Rafa. He just has to go out all guns blazing,

:37:07.:37:14.

and so does Rosol. He does. Most people will go into a match

:37:15.:37:19.

thinking, what is Rafa going to do, what can I do against it? But he is

:37:20.:37:23.

going into it thinking, I know that when I play well, I can challenge

:37:24.:37:33.

anyone. We are in French challenge. Definitely. Just looking at the way

:37:34.:37:36.

he was sitting in his chair, not going out, we are looking mind games

:37:37.:37:42.

here. Can he blast Nadal off the court in the same way? I wonder if

:37:43.:37:49.

that is going to be one of the big things as well. It is a little

:37:50.:37:55.

easier to serve under pressure with the roof closed, maybe he will try

:37:56.:37:59.

that today. We are already for this match. We have the world number one

:38:00.:38:04.

here. Over on Court Number One, we have the ladies number one, Serena

:38:05.:38:08.

Williams making her way out onto court in her 15th Wimbledon. She is

:38:09.:38:14.

five times the champion here, and she is looking for her 17th Grand

:38:15.:38:20.

Slam, looking for an 18th. So that is on Court Number One, Serena

:38:21.:38:23.

making her way up against Chanelle Scheepers. That match is on the red

:38:24.:38:28.

button if you want to follow her progress. But here we are

:38:29.:38:32.

concentrating on Centre Court and the rematch between Lukas Rosol and

:38:33.:38:37.

Rafael Nadal. Your commentators are John McEnroe and Simon Reed.

:38:38.:38:53.

SIMON READ: This is a revenge match. JOHN McENROE: It certainly is. He is

:38:54.:39:13.

a big guy, look at the size of him. He is just going to swing for the

:39:14.:39:17.

fences. The other question is, do you want to be tested? Do you feel

:39:18.:39:23.

like you are more settled in the second week? The answer is, if you

:39:24.:39:32.

know you're going to win, yes. Right now, Nadal is going to come out, he

:39:33.:39:43.

knows what to expect now. Obviously two years ago he had injuries that

:39:44.:39:50.

we didn't know about. That is an interesting look, that threw me

:39:51.:39:58.

then. This is the stage. And he is going to come out, he willed himself

:39:59.:40:05.

to win in the first round, and he is going to be more constable and more

:40:06.:40:09.

ready for what he is up against. Does that mean anything will

:40:10.:40:14.

change? Not necessarily. I suspect that early in this match he will

:40:15.:40:21.

really trite take it to Rosol and get into his head as early and as

:40:22.:40:24.

quickly as possible, and not give anything away. He will hit a couple

:40:25.:40:35.

of great shots, and then go through a period where he seems not to know

:40:36.:40:40.

where the court is. And Rosol, he is 52 in the world, he has established

:40:41.:40:43.

himself as a legitimate tour player, not a flash in the pan. The results

:40:44.:40:49.

haven't been anywhere near what people would have thought when he

:40:50.:40:54.

beat Nadal, he lost the next round pretty easily and not a lot has

:40:55.:41:02.

happened since. UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, Lukas

:41:03.:41:06.

Rosol won the toss and elected to receive.

:41:07.:41:11.

He didn't seem to charmed by Lukas Rosol. There was a little barge, it

:41:12.:41:20.

wasn't Luis Suarez like, but it was an incident. When I saw a Luis

:41:21.:41:30.

Suarez, I thought, think of my worst possible moment, I don't think I was

:41:31.:41:35.

that bad! They have only played twice, and the most recent time was

:41:36.:41:43.

a tight second set. Rosol succeeding in getting under the skin of Nadal

:41:44.:41:50.

the way step neck -- Radek Stepanek did. He is the guy, if you were

:41:51.:41:56.

watching a football game, he would be falling and looked like he'd

:41:57.:42:01.

broken his leg, someone hit him in the head, he'd be on the ground ten

:42:02.:42:14.

times. But he made an interesting match yesterday. Hate to play the

:42:15.:42:19.

guy, but afterwards, he has earned my respect. Let's see if this check

:42:20.:42:40.

-- Czech can do the same damage to the Dahl he did two years ago.

:42:41.:42:46.

UMPIRE: Ready. Play. And Nadal, even with his 14 slams,

:42:47.:43:36.

he will still feel nerves. To the last point, you do feel it. And

:43:37.:43:41.

Rosol will be trying to back-up what he did two years ago. What are the

:43:42.:43:50.

odds of this happening again? Second round again? Same place?

:43:51.:44:27.

So, a comfortable hold a Rafa. His uncle and his team have done some

:44:28.:44:36.

more studying to make sure they have got a very good idea. No surprises

:44:37.:44:42.

this time. They have studied some tapes, I've got a feeling. Set this

:44:43.:44:48.

guys tendencies out, make sure they are not fooled by anything that

:44:49.:44:50.

comes along in this match today. Rosol served 22 aces last time they

:44:51.:45:07.

met here. Here we go! That was very poor, that

:45:08.:45:54.

drop shot. It should have been over. That is an excellent low volley.

:45:55.:46:30.

He was hardly missing a couple of years ago.

:46:31.:46:57.

Easily picked off. I think you were going to see a lot of short balls

:46:58.:47:07.

from Nadal, forcing Rosol in. He is a big guy, so the slice is going to

:47:08.:47:11.

stay low, it will be tougher for him to handle.

:47:12.:48:07.

And Rosol opens his account. He certainly packs a punch. If he

:48:08.:48:18.

conserve well, it will be problematic for Nadal. This is what

:48:19.:48:25.

this big guy wants, is to control points and get ahead with the serve.

:48:26.:49:31.

serve and the second, the proverbial kitchen sink.

:49:32.:49:51.

The forehand working really well there.

:49:52.:50:54.

Misfiring a little, but Nadal holds. UMPIRE: Nadal leads by two games to

:50:55.:51:04.

one, first set. Let's have a closer look at the

:51:05.:51:09.

Rosol serve. We start with the fact he is six foot five. That alone

:51:10.:51:14.

allows him to pick his spot more easily than us mere mortals. The key

:51:15.:51:21.

to any serve is the legs. The power springs from the legs. You combine

:51:22.:51:37.

that with some torque around your core area. He can go into the 120s

:51:38.:51:45.

when he wants to, but he prefers to play it safe, get 70% or more serves

:51:46.:51:50.

in. There are not too many lefties out there, so they are not used to

:51:51.:51:56.

the spin. It is a tool more than a weapon for him.

:51:57.:52:06.

UMPIRE: Time, please. One of the events he played, he went

:52:07.:52:11.

to a challenger in Dallas which he won, and I'm looking at the people

:52:12.:52:14.

he beat. Four of the five people he beat, Michael Russell, Ryan

:52:15.:52:20.

Harrison, Steve Johnson, all in the main draw here. It gives you an idea

:52:21.:52:26.

that the minor leagues can be pretty tough times. The only guy that

:52:27.:52:30.

wasn't in with Daniel Brands, a former top 50 player.

:52:31.:52:46.

So the depth clearly is better and better in our sport.

:52:47.:53:04.

Is there a danger that he would try to make a statement early on to

:53:05.:53:08.

often? This serve, we showed it, it will be

:53:09.:53:28.

Keith Fahey. -- key for him. He is going to have to serve really big.

:53:29.:53:45.

Wow. That is the kind of return he wants. Again, the serve is going to

:53:46.:54:13.

set that shot up. He needs to cut that slice little

:54:14.:54:55.

more, not let it float. It gives Rosol time to get under it.

:54:56.:55:16.

So, Rosol staying with him. You can see what happens when you lose your

:55:17.:55:25.

balance. It is the biggest problem the tennis player would have. Once

:55:26.:55:34.

that goes, you are in big trouble. That's what a big hitter does to

:55:35.:55:41.

you. It unknown to you. Denise Lewis always had perfect balance.

:55:42.:56:05.

What a rally! A surprise, but well done. This is a good reply. Take it

:56:06.:56:17.

in the air. I don't know how often he will do that. He made Rafa hit a

:56:18.:56:20.

very tough pass. Fantastic! What a pick-up. The

:56:21.:57:15.

return had to be hit at 100 miles an hour. Look at that. This is why he

:57:16.:57:21.

has got such a light racket, so that you can generate that speed in a

:57:22.:57:23.

flash. Slotted that home calmly. Here is

:57:24.:57:48.

the previous point. Look at that, it was virtually a half-volley. The

:57:49.:57:54.

first car I saw that do that consistently was Andre Agassi. He

:57:55.:57:56.

somehow made it look easy. UMPIRE: Game, Nadal. Nadal leads by

:57:57.:58:16.

three games to two, first set. SUE BARKER: And we will be straight

:58:17.:58:24.

back with this match on Centre in a moment. Kei Nishikori is through

:58:25.:58:30.

comfortable in straight sets over the qualifier from the United

:58:31.:58:36.

States, Denis Kudla. He goes through to face either Kohlschreiber or

:58:37.:58:44.

Simone Bolelli in the next round. And Milos Raonic is also through in

:58:45.:58:50.

straight sets against Jack Sock of the United States. He has gone

:58:51.:58:53.

through 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. So, the number eight seed goes

:58:54.:59:04.

through there. A couple of updates to bring you. Gael Monfils is in

:59:05.:59:09.

trouble, two sets to love down now against your Reeva silly -- Jiri

:59:10.:59:21.

Vesely. That is on the red button. But no problems the Serena Williams,

:59:22.:59:27.

4-1 up against Chanelle Scheepers, that match also on the red button.

:59:28.:59:34.

We will continue to keep you up-to-date. Back we go to Centre.

:59:35.:59:53.

SIMON REED: He has got some tapes there. We are still on serve.

:59:54.:00:15.

It doesn't seem to be impinging on making his shot. Not at all.

:00:16.:00:30.

He wants to continue to be unpredictable. Nadal will not expect

:00:31.:00:38.

him to serve and volley. A big tattoo there on the leg.

:00:39.:00:46.

That has to be painful, on the calf. Not as much muscle. If tattoos were

:00:47.:00:53.

round when you were starting you would have had one. I do have a

:00:54.:00:55.

couple. Do you? You can see why he is so difficult

:00:56.:01:17.

and point. He has some major firepower.

:01:18.:01:28.

-- point. Did you have a bogey opponent who came out of left side

:01:29.:01:43.

and mugged you? I saw a guy like Boris berk, who was 17, 16-year-old,

:01:44.:01:48.

who is this guy? -- Becker. Big, strong, you know, serving a tonne. I

:01:49.:01:55.

didn't realise he would be that good. I knew he was going to be

:01:56.:02:03.

good. Seven Wimbledon finals later...

:02:04.:02:37.

Olympic champion quietly contempt mating that magnificent effort.

:02:38.:02:51.

-- contemplating. It is not much compromise, is there

:02:52.:03:55.

from Rosol? That is the way he has to play. Keep the point short, not

:03:56.:04:01.

let Nadal relax, get in a real rhythm.

:04:02.:04:11.

First set they played here two years ago went to a tie-break.

:04:12.:04:40.

Forehand finishing that, a lot people reckon his forehand is the

:04:41.:04:58.

best ever, do you go along with that? I think that is certainly

:04:59.:05:03.

arguable. If you look at the way he is able to manoeuvre himself round

:05:04.:05:07.

the court. The footwork, the side stepping that he does, to get - look

:05:08.:05:13.

at this, to get himself in position, to get over there and he, nowadays,

:05:14.:05:18.

the players put weight on their back foot, and they push off their back

:05:19.:05:23.

foot, as we were taught, take the shorter swing, and then move forward

:05:24.:05:26.

and have your weight on your front foot. But they figured out a way to

:05:27.:05:31.

give themselves maybe that extra split second of time, which allows

:05:32.:05:37.

them to sort of purr ruse court that bit more, and then they deliberately

:05:38.:05:41.

got much lighter racquet, smaller grips, with this unbelievable

:05:42.:05:46.

racquet head speed that causes, you have never seen a guy hit top-spin

:05:47.:05:50.

like this. He does it time and again. The most admirable part to me

:05:51.:05:54.

is the footwork, the way he moves round and how quickly it is so much

:05:55.:06:00.

more difficult you would think. Try it. Go out there and try do what he

:06:01.:06:06.

does. Yes. Forget hitting the ball. To get yourself in that position

:06:07.:06:13.

that quick. You don't have a whole lot of time when you are playing

:06:14.:06:24.

guys like Lukas Rosol. New balls now. Trying to impose

:06:25.:06:28.

himself somehow on this guy's serve. You can see the new balls really

:06:29.:07:10.

moving. That is the hardest he has hit. 130 there.

:07:11.:07:18.

Rafa can't get anything going on the Rosol serve at the moment. That is

:07:19.:07:43.

exactly what he couldn't want -- doesn't want to happen. He doesn't

:07:44.:07:48.

with to allow Rosol to not have much stress. He wants to make him work.

:07:49.:07:55.

This is unlike Nadal, to see a game end in like a minute. Usually, gets

:07:56.:08:00.

himself, figures out a way to at least work the guy over a bit. Make

:08:01.:08:02.

him move. Hard to do it with Rosol. Whoa! Now there's trouble. It has

:08:03.:09:02.

shifted to Rosol. I don't know why he just guided this. He would have

:09:03.:09:06.

gone off it more regardless of where he hit it. He gave Rosol too good a

:09:07.:09:10.

look. Yes. He realises it.

:09:11.:09:26.

Wow, he is going to challenge. I don't think that was in, he should

:09:27.:09:35.

challenge at this stage, at love 30. Rum UMPIRE:

:09:36.:09:41.

Mr Rosol is challenging. It was called in as Rosol is challenging.

:09:42.:09:48.

It's in. You see that same type of serve this

:09:49.:10:30.

next point. See how far his left Rosol goes to cut it off. It look

:10:31.:10:35.

like there is an opening if he slices it short.

:10:36.:10:39.

Just missed. Oh! Here is Rosol with two break

:10:40.:11:04.

points. One he will be serving for the set.

:11:05.:11:34.

As big a forehand as he has hit. The fact he could find that, attack that

:11:35.:11:44.

is amazing. Especially when you are down double break point.

:11:45.:12:11.

Is he going to go wide again? That is brave. Rosol was hoping double

:12:12.:12:34.

again. Of course he was going wide, he should have stepped in and ripped

:12:35.:12:43.

it. Gone for it. That is his style. Tight there himself.

:12:44.:13:01.

So that return has earned him a third chance.

:13:02.:13:11.

Now where is he going to stand? He upset Rafa a bit from all this

:13:12.:13:15.

movement. In his receiving position. But he has got the break.

:13:16.:13:34.

Could lightning possibly strike twice in the same place.

:13:35.:13:48.

Well, we continue to be amazed, but the way he has picked it up, he

:13:49.:13:56.

settled in. I think Rafa's sense in the beginning, clearly this guy was

:13:57.:14:01.

more wound up, but he count take advantage, when it got to be two

:14:02.:14:06.

allish, suddenly he started making impact, with that power. Height and

:14:07.:14:13.

weight of shot, and that was a big time game, to break the new balls

:14:14.:14:19.

really seemed to help him off his serve, he just, he bummed Nadal out.

:14:20.:14:27.

God, this guy's good, man. "I don't like this: Now I'm having

:14:28.:14:35.

nightmares." Memories coming back Why just against me? That is what he

:14:36.:14:38.

is thinking. "Why do I get these draws?" If any

:14:39.:14:47.

guy will figure a way out of it, it will be Nadal. He had the chance to

:14:48.:14:53.

take set lead which didn't happen last time. Serving for the set,

:14:54.:14:57.

after half an hour, just... Rosol is starting to love it out

:14:58.:15:44.

here. He can't stop having winner. It is like the fifth set last time

:15:45.:15:46.

round. By the way, as we lock at triple set

:15:47.:16:01.

point, his career Grand Slam record, coming to this match is eight wins,

:16:02.:16:05.

12 losses. -- look. And he has just won the

:16:06.:16:11.

first set. And looking frighteningly good by

:16:12.:16:15.

the end of it. First set in 33 minutes.

:16:16.:16:31.

It was in the last ten minutes that he suddenly stepped it up. You can

:16:32.:16:36.

see what happens when a guy relaxes and finds himself and settles down,

:16:37.:16:44.

and if you are 6'5. These are the type of guys, when you lock at John

:16:45.:16:54.

Isner, I know, I tell you the guys in a draw, Isner, Raonic, to a

:16:55.:17:00.

lesser degree, obviously much lesser, Rosol. Where you are not in

:17:01.:17:04.

charge, where you are assuming, and they do most of the time, the better

:17:05.:17:12.

guys less, beat themselves. Stepanek, the guy just, he is

:17:13.:17:19.

annoying to play. He knows how to compete, and get the crowd worked

:17:20.:17:25.

up, and, I would rather not deal with that. Let someone else beat

:17:26.:17:30.

him. Save my energy for when I really need it, but now all of a

:17:31.:17:35.

sudden, Nadal. If you look at his draw, he has to have the toughest.

:17:36.:17:39.

Klizan came to play, there is another guy, a big guy, you have

:17:40.:17:47.

Rosol, you have got... Janowicz. He is not, he, that would be the semis

:17:48.:17:56.

but he has like a guy like Raonic is his quarter. Kei Nishikori, Gasquet

:17:57.:18:05.

has pedigree on grass, Monfils is out there. He is the winner of that

:18:06.:18:10.

match. That is just to get to the semis.

:18:11.:18:17.

This is tense times for Nadal. He puts so much effort into winning the

:18:18.:18:20.

French. I wondered whether getting bundled

:18:21.:18:29.

out early on might have been a blessing in disguise. At the moment

:18:30.:18:30.

it is not looking like that. Two years ago when he lost to Rosol,

:18:31.:19:02.

he didn't pick up a racket for seven month, the knee was a problem. I

:19:03.:19:06.

don't know if that was coincidence, but that was it.

:19:07.:19:10.

Two years ago he went to see the knee doctor, tomorrow if he loses

:19:11.:19:15.

this, he will be seeing a psychiatrist! Psychiatrist! If he

:19:16.:19:49.

loses to this guy again. Talk about luck of the draw.

:19:50.:20:17.

Just leaned on that front leg and away it went. It is well timed.

:20:18.:20:32.

Nadal second serve is hittable. He is really taking advantage.

:20:33.:20:54.

Rosol is on a high at the moment. The first unforced error for a

:20:55.:21:26.

little while. He has been smacking winners left,

:21:27.:21:29.

right and centre. SUE BARKER: Here on two we are

:21:30.:21:59.

leaving Centre Court, if you want to watch this, you can, it continues

:22:00.:22:08.

now over on BBC One. We head over to another number one, Serena Williams

:22:09.:22:13.

is on Court Number One against Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa.

:22:14.:22:17.

Serena in control here, no problems for her, 6-1, 3-0 up. We can join

:22:18.:22:24.

our commentators out there. Martina Navratilova is alongside

:22:25.:22:25.

our commentators out there. Martina Navratilova Chris Brad Haddin. In

:22:26.:22:30.

devastating form Serena Williams as she was in the. 16 aces from the

:22:31.:22:39.

greatest server. Many say of all time.

:22:40.:22:44.

No joy for Scheepers. Broken in her first service game. It set the scene

:22:45.:22:49.

in this match. From the beginning.

:22:50.:22:54.

For all of that, Serena has her match face on, she is so focussed on

:22:55.:22:59.

getting this job done. She has had one expression on her face the whole

:23:00.:23:02.

match. You would not know when she won the point, lost the point, after

:23:03.:23:08.

she won the first set 6-1 she sat that stone faced. She closed her

:23:09.:23:13.

eyes or read noerts. She has been very work man like today.

:23:14.:23:25.

A very comfortable lead. She is on cruise control today.

:23:26.:23:30.

Beaten early at the French, asked when she got here how long she had

:23:31.:23:35.

taken to get over it. She shot back "Who says I was over it?" Some

:23:36.:23:44.

losses you never get over, but at least that one you arrange quickly,

:23:45.:23:49.

so Wimbledon is so quickly after the French Open, that is great for

:23:50.:23:52.

Serena she has this opportunity on her favourite surface.

:23:53.:24:02.

You can turn an iffy year into a great year by winning here. It

:24:03.:24:05.

happened in 2012. Lost the first round, the first time she has gone

:24:06.:24:10.

out first round in a major and lost three matches only in the next 12

:24:11.:24:18.

months. Won her fifth Wimbledon here.

:24:19.:24:22.

Singles and doubles. Stanford, Olympic Gold, singles and doubles.

:24:23.:24:27.

Season ends championships. Got the number one ranking back after making

:24:28.:24:34.

semis in Doha last year. Oldest world number one on record. So watch

:24:35.:24:36.

out. Nice. The ninth time she has won

:24:37.:24:53.

just about all the points there in very aggressive from the ground,

:24:54.:25:01.

moll allows Scheepers to get shots for her. When the opportunity comes

:25:02.:25:05.

moving forward very well. Doubles her account. Half a smile.

:25:06.:25:23.

Big cheer from the number one court crowd.

:25:24.:25:39.

We talked earlier, Serena, her biggest opponent the mirror. Can you

:25:40.:25:46.

understand, with how great she, she sometimes beats herself? When you

:25:47.:25:50.

get older you get more nervous, your time is coming to an end, and you

:25:51.:25:55.

don't have that many opportunities so you stress about that. Your

:25:56.:25:58.

appreciation for the game grows, your passion for it, so it means

:25:59.:26:04.

more, and then as Serena is going through it, I went through it, for

:26:05.:26:07.

the most part you were in control. You are the best player out there,

:26:08.:26:12.

it is up to you, you get the glory when you win, you get the blame when

:26:13.:26:18.

you lose, good news, bad news, you are so good that anything but

:26:19.:26:22.

winning is a failure, so, it puts a lot of pressure on you, you never

:26:23.:26:27.

get away from the pressure until you retire, because even if you win a

:26:28.:26:32.

tournament, there is a next one. You are expected to win that too.

:26:33.:26:38.

Everywhere she goes. Expectations are self imposed as well as world

:26:39.:26:42.

imposed. To become world number one, they are all Gunning for you. Serena

:26:43.:26:47.

Williams makes headlines when she loses, more so than when she wins.

:26:48.:26:53.

Scheepers is out very early to resume. With a bit a breeze. Serena

:26:54.:27:00.

Williams set and 4-1. Backhand has been in good form. That

:27:01.:27:13.

is the best shot of the match for Scheepers throughout. The only time

:27:14.:27:17.

she has been able to get the ball past Serena Williams, that was the

:27:18.:27:20.

only time she was set for the shot, took the pace off, rolled it

:27:21.:27:24.

crosscourt. That is her best shot. Her backhand. It has been going well

:27:25.:27:29.

today. Forehand not so much but the backhand has been there.

:27:30.:27:42.

That was her coach, I would tell her to tighten up her destroyings a bit.

:27:43.:27:53.

But nice overhead from Serena Williams. That is an uncomfortable

:27:54.:27:59.

shot. Hit it up in the air like that.

:28:00.:28:02.

-- her strings a bit. Everything has been so well

:28:03.:28:16.

controlled by Serena's day. She has only used the left hand once to calm

:28:17.:28:22.

herself down. A spread left hand? A couple of gaming a. I missed that, I

:28:23.:28:27.

have seen the fist pump but I didn't see the spread hand. It cracks me up

:28:28.:28:32.

when she does that. It says so much, doesn't it. That her vet. That

:28:33.:28:40.

should be and ace. Yes, it is. The umpire making the correct

:28:41.:28:44.

correction and call, in that the ball was passed. Scheepers had no

:28:45.:28:50.

bearing on her being able to get the ball back, so eighth ace for Serena

:28:51.:28:51.

Williams. That would have been a 123mph first

:28:52.:29:05.

serve, if she missed it. Quite a variety on that first serve, in

:29:06.:29:10.

pace. See that one slice out wide, 96.

:29:11.:29:21.

That is a 25mph difference. You don't know if it is is a bullet

:29:22.:29:31.

coming at you or a big spinner. So just 47 minutes Scheepers serving

:29:32.:29:36.

to stay in the match. It is her fifth Wimbledon main draw,

:29:37.:29:41.

the first time she had won a main draw match. It was a huge day.

:29:42.:29:56.

They are both listed at 5'nine. They looked the same -- 5'9. Serena is

:29:57.:30:06.

hitting her second serve as hard as Scheepers is hitting her first

:30:07.:30:09.

serve. What I am impressed with, Serena has

:30:10.:30:31.

been very controlled emotionally, but also her game is well balanced

:30:32.:30:38.

today. She has been disciplined with her

:30:39.:30:42.

shots. Putting the ball cleanly in the middle. She was looking to see,

:30:43.:30:46.

Serena was looking to see if the ball came in, thought maybe she

:30:47.:30:50.

missed it out, stayed in the corner and able to hit a winner

:30:51.:30:52.

down-the-line. Too good. We said it would be about

:30:53.:31:17.

50 minutes. We are at 49 minutes now, first match point for Serena

:31:18.:31:28.

Williams. That will do it! UMPIRE: Game, set and match Miss

:31:29.:31:30.

Williams. Chanelle Scheepers' big day ends in

:31:31.:31:45.

disappointment. She is still very much the one to beat. A lot of

:31:46.:31:55.

players have been holding one finger up in the air, but she really can do

:31:56.:32:00.

it, because she is number one. A matter-of-fact performance. Never

:32:01.:32:08.

close to break point, the closest she got to losing her serve was

:32:09.:32:12.

15-30, once. A comprehensive win at every level. Confident. Chanelle

:32:13.:32:22.

Scheepers just happy that she won a game in each set.

:32:23.:32:23.

APPLAUSE Finished her doubles at nine o'clock

:32:24.:32:36.

last night, a quick turnaround. But it made no difference whatsoever. 49

:32:37.:32:43.

minutes to back-up the 61 minutes on Tuesday, third on Centre Court,

:32:44.:32:50.

sending out very good messages after the earlier departure in Paris.

:32:51.:32:54.

Absolutely. Hitting all the shot is well, well-balanced in every which

:32:55.:32:59.

way, emotionally, mentally, physically. 26 winners, seven

:33:00.:33:04.

unforced error is, that is a clean match. She will be happy to have the

:33:05.:33:11.

afternoon off and reset for another day. Two years ago when she won

:33:12.:33:15.

here, her fifth title, she hit more aces in the tournament than any man

:33:16.:33:23.

throughout Championships. That is amazing. Present company excluded,

:33:24.:33:32.

the greatest server of all time. No, she is the best, even including me.

:33:33.:33:41.

A quick match for the number one Court crowd. But they have a chance

:33:42.:33:46.

to see one of the all-time great in action. It is always a thrill for so

:33:47.:33:57.

many. 17 majors, five here, the only thing she hasn't done, she has done

:33:58.:34:04.

the Serena slammed, holding all four majors at one time, is to do the

:34:05.:34:15.

Grand Slam. It is a beautiful day again here in NSW 19. -- S W 19. And

:34:16.:34:30.

here she is with Phil Jones. Serena, well played. You out Court lace last

:34:31.:34:36.

night -- late last night in a doubles match. It was a super fun

:34:37.:34:43.

doubles match last night, I love doubles here, it is so much fun. I'm

:34:44.:34:49.

sure the whole world saw the pictures where you went careering

:34:50.:34:54.

into the crowd. No harm done. Some wonderful gents caught me yesterday,

:34:55.:35:00.

it was so funny, I just started laughing. It was so embarrassing, I

:35:01.:35:07.

just had to laugh about it. It is great to see you having fun here and

:35:08.:35:10.

to see you playing so well. What is it like for you when people are

:35:11.:35:16.

already putting you week two is a five-time, you're expected to win.

:35:17.:35:26.

How does that feel for you? It is tough, because it is every week for

:35:27.:35:30.

the past two and a half years. To be favourite can be a pressure, but I

:35:31.:35:33.

have learned to deal with it, and I would rather look at it that way

:35:34.:35:38.

than any other. And you get to enjoy the moment when you come off court,

:35:39.:35:43.

and you like to give your crowd your time back. I have been coming here

:35:44.:35:50.

over a decade, and it is so great to see my fans and supporters,

:35:51.:35:54.

especially the kids. It makes me feel really good. It is great to see

:35:55.:35:59.

you here, keep up the good form, and no more falls in the crowd! Thank

:36:00.:36:02.

you. SUE BARKER: She was only on court

:36:03.:36:09.

for 49 minutes there, but a super performance from Serena, who has

:36:10.:36:15.

come here on a mission. You would be brave to bet against her winning her

:36:16.:36:20.

18th Grand Slam title. What a champion she has been, and a

:36:21.:36:24.

champion's performance today. So, the world number one safely through

:36:25.:36:25.

to round three. And she will face in the next round

:36:26.:36:36.

Alize Cornet of France, who went through in three sets against Petra

:36:37.:36:47.

Cetkovska. You can bet she will be on a big show caught by her next

:36:48.:36:50.

match as she takes on the world number one.

:36:51.:36:56.

While Serena has been going safely through, look at this. Rafael

:36:57.:37:02.

Nadal, the men's world number one, is struggling. He has lost the first

:37:03.:37:09.

set to Lukas Rosol, and is a break down in the second, against the man

:37:10.:37:12.

who would imagine the Championships two years ago. That match Oberon BBC

:37:13.:37:19.

One. On the red button, you can see which a gas -- Richard Gasquet

:37:20.:37:34.

against Nick Kyrgios, and on court 17, Philipp Kohlschreiber is into

:37:35.:37:41.

the fifth and final set with Simone Bolelli of Italy, you can follow

:37:42.:37:45.

that match online. The struggle for the 22nd seed. But here on two,

:37:46.:37:51.

we're going to head out to court 12 to see Gael Monfils who is

:37:52.:38:01.

struggling against Jiri Vesely. He has served the biggest serve of the

:38:02.:38:09.

tournament so far, hundred and 43 mph. -- 143 mph. Your commentators

:38:10.:38:19.

are Mark Sellers and Ronald McIntosh.

:38:20.:38:30.

Producing a forehand winner after that 12 stroke rally.

:38:31.:38:51.

He has been pulled all corners of the court by Monfils.

:38:52.:39:12.

He has reduced the number of unforced errors as the match has

:39:13.:39:17.

progressed. A clever serve thereby Monfils,

:39:18.:39:55.

taking the pace off, opening up the court. It remains on serve here in

:39:56.:39:59.

set number four. First court. It remains on serve here in

:40:00.:40:03.

set number four. free set were decided by tie-break, but that

:40:04.:40:06.

doesn't begin to tell the story, because in the first two, the effort

:40:07.:40:12.

and application of this man was inconsistent to say the least. Some

:40:13.:40:16.

strokes didn't even appear to try, playing shots by hind his back in

:40:17.:40:22.

the middle of around a when the game was still up for grabs, constant

:40:23.:40:25.

conversation with the umpire and the crowd, tossed his racket into the

:40:26.:40:32.

crowd in frustration at one point. All of his problems appear to be

:40:33.:40:34.

behind him. We have mentioned the problems that

:40:35.:41:23.

Monfils appears to be having. Vasely, just 20 years of age, did

:41:24.:41:27.

very well to remain focused and remain in the match. He has fought

:41:28.:41:30.

back to take it tie-break. Evasive action taken by spectators

:41:31.:41:46.

here on court 12! Monfils has raised his game to a different level now.

:41:47.:41:50.

The sort of play that we're used to seeing from him, a fine return.

:41:51.:42:04.

The trusty serve coming to his aid, it has been a feature of the match.

:42:05.:42:17.

A typical left-handed slice, this time down the middle. You can see

:42:18.:42:24.

Monfils really ruling that he missed that opportunity there. He is

:42:25.:42:31.

seriously competitive now. He wasn't in the early part of the match.

:42:32.:43:19.

What a return! A blistering crosscourt forehand from Monfils.

:43:20.:43:27.

This looked as though it was going to be a difficult shot by Vasely,

:43:28.:43:32.

but the shot Monfils plays there really is a rabbit out of the hat.

:43:33.:43:40.

Well done, excellent serve, that one. He has served well. He is a big

:43:41.:43:51.

server, six foot six in height. The power of the serve, the variation of

:43:52.:43:56.

it, moved through the air, so much slice.

:43:57.:44:18.

UMPIRE: Vasely leaves five games to fall, fourth set. He overcame a 0-30

:44:19.:44:34.

deficit, ultimately a very impressive hold to remain on serve

:44:35.:44:44.

here in the fourth set. That was the moment where the serve was held in

:44:45.:44:50.

the ninth game. He has only lost his serve once in the match, in actual

:44:51.:44:54.

fact, and that was in the third set. He was in the enviable position of a

:44:55.:45:05.

set and 3-1 up. He had 0-40 on Monfils's serve. And Monfils

:45:06.:45:10.

produced an extraordinarily good shot, he was in command at that

:45:11.:45:13.

stage. UMPIRE: Time.

:45:14.:45:21.

His game was raised. He looked in the doldrums, didn't look as if it

:45:22.:45:25.

really mattered at all. And then suddenly he caught fire, and all of

:45:26.:45:30.

a sudden he has taken the third set, and it is a hugely important match

:45:31.:45:35.

now. It is terrifically exciting. It really is difficult to overstate

:45:36.:45:40.

just how disinterested Monfils appeared at times during the opening

:45:41.:45:46.

set. Circus shots were attempted. Completely devoid of intent. But all

:45:47.:45:51.

of his troubles seem to be behind him now.

:45:52.:46:00.

Monfils needs to hold to stay in the match here.

:46:01.:46:14.

You would anticipate that this return was going to be a winner.

:46:15.:46:20.

Monfils takes extra big strides to get to it.

:46:21.:46:29.

In double quick time, Monfils hold serve. He is just taking time to sit

:46:30.:47:15.

in an official's chair is the new balls are moved from the canisters.

:47:16.:47:24.

They have been on court for more than two and a half hours now. 11th

:47:25.:47:29.

game, fourth set, Vasely to serve. So, the new balls likely to add a

:47:30.:47:56.

little bit more pop to the serve of Vasely. He has already served 143

:47:57.:48:00.

miles an hour today. UMPIRE: Tech Mac one leads by six

:48:01.:49:14.

games to five, fourth set, and by two sets to one.

:49:15.:49:27.

He is climbing rapidly, 65 places in terms of his computer ranking, not

:49:28.:49:30.

so long out of the junior game, Vasely. He got to the finals of the

:49:31.:49:36.

US Junior Championships, played well in other junior championships, but

:49:37.:49:39.

this is a real back has no experience for him today, -- a

:49:40.:49:45.

baptism of experience. He really should have won the early set, but

:49:46.:49:55.

then Monfils caught fire, and he needs to respond to that, and he is

:49:56.:50:02.

doing so admirably. Monfils perhaps finding a tougher opponent than he

:50:03.:50:06.

anticipated. Given the manner in which he played

:50:07.:50:09.

the opening two sets of this match, he didn't appear to have much

:50:10.:50:12.

interest in going deep into the tournament at all. His sixth

:50:13.:50:18.

appearance at Wimbledon the Monfils, the first Vasely. Monfils attempting

:50:19.:50:23.

to better progress. Vasely is asking the question,

:50:24.:51:14.

nonverbally. It was called out. He immediately looked at the umpire and

:51:15.:51:15.

the officials. Monfils is making the game look

:51:16.:51:32.

incredibly easy at the moment. UMPIRE: Tie-break.

:51:33.:51:40.

So, for the fourth successive set, we enter the lottery of the

:51:41.:51:45.

tie-break. And in the last one, Monfils really caught fire, he won

:51:46.:51:47.

it 7-1. Well, that is an expensive error,

:51:48.:52:16.

really. The crowd very much in support of Monfils. He is an

:52:17.:52:21.

entertaining player. He tries eccentric shop, and they come off.

:52:22.:52:25.

-- eccentric shots. That was an important point for

:52:26.:53:24.

Vasely to win. Somewhat angry that he didn't hold those two points on

:53:25.:53:26.

his serve, Monfils. He is into double figures on the ace

:53:27.:53:50.

count now, Vasely. So much variety is his primary weapon.

:53:51.:54:18.

Well, it was very close, very close indeed, but I think it was just

:54:19.:54:22.

wide. An excellent rally, both players

:54:23.:54:31.

hitting ferocious ground strokes. Vasely has bounced back to 3-2. Ace

:54:32.:54:45.

number 18 Monfils. Encouraging applause for both

:54:46.:55:24.

players now, two hours and 40 minutes.

:55:25.:55:37.

Yes, what a pity. This may cost in the set, that shot. -- cost him the

:55:38.:56:26.

set. So, set point the Monfils as helix

:56:27.:56:55.

to force the decider. -- as he looks to force a decider.

:56:56.:57:14.

UMPIRE: Seven games to six, two sets all.

:57:15.:57:24.

SUE BARKER: We will keep you up-to-date with this, it is going

:57:25.:57:29.

the distance. You can watch the fifth set on the red button. If you

:57:30.:57:34.

want to continue watching, watch it on the red button. This is currently

:57:35.:57:39.

over and BBC One, Rafael Nadal in trouble. He lost the opening set to

:57:40.:57:46.

Lukas Rosol, was a break of serve down, but it is heading to a

:57:47.:57:53.

tie-break. That is on BBC One. On Court number three, Ana Ivanovic,

:57:54.:57:56.

former world number one, up against Jie Zheng who has won the doubles

:57:57.:58:04.

here at Wimbledon. She has taken the first set, Ivanovic. That is online.

:58:05.:58:13.

On Court 17, Philipp Kohlschreiber up against Simone Bolelli, and that

:58:14.:58:19.

is 4-3 in the fifth and final set, a real battle out on court of Dean.

:58:20.:58:25.

You can follow that online. -- court 17. But we are going to head to

:58:26.:58:33.

Court Number Two to see Richard Gasquet up against Nick Kiri -- Nick

:58:34.:59:01.

Virg -- Kyrgios. A host of green and gold clad young men and women here,

:59:02.:59:08.

making more and more noise is Kyrgios has forced his way back into

:59:09.:59:17.

contention. It was all Gasquet for the first hour and a half as he took

:59:18.:59:22.

the first two sets, but then Kyrgios began to find his stride. He served

:59:23.:59:29.

for the fourth set, we are in set five, two hours and 42 minutes of

:59:30.:59:41.

compelling tennis. Richard Gasquet, waiting for the crowd to settle.

:59:42.:00:00.

It only seems fitting that this match is going into a third set. --

:00:01.:00:08.

a fifth set. Tremendous serving. Some fantastic play. And on show has

:00:09.:00:18.

been the Richard Gasquet backhand. He has also delivered 19 aces.

:00:19.:00:35.

this year's Championship draw, just 19 years of age, really trying to

:00:36.:00:41.

make a name for himself at the Grand Slams.

:00:42.:00:52.

Gasquet gets off the mark in the final set.

:00:53.:01:03.

So that is where we are at the southern end of the court. It is

:01:04.:01:08.

called the wok, because it is sunken, and it is hot. Any other

:01:09.:01:15.

occasion they plays each other was the Davis Cup tie. France beat

:01:16.:01:21.

Australia 5-0 but these two played. Gasquet won in three sets. Kyrgios

:01:22.:01:27.

to serve, the wild card. Oh, wild shot there.

:01:28.:01:44.

Needs to maintain his intensity and his focus and concentration here.

:01:45.:02:23.

Big hitting from Kyrgios. Gasquet doing everything to stay with him

:02:24.:02:29.

here, in this point, eventually is forced into a backhand error.

:02:30.:03:02.

Jtsds the fob hand let him down. -- the forehand let him down. His 11th

:03:03.:03:14.

unforced error on that. Gentle backhand, keeping it low and

:03:15.:03:17.

flat. Giving Gasquet no chance.

:03:18.:03:20.

An importantly not overplaying the backhand there, Kyrgios. Shot

:03:21.:03:25.

selection has been vital to him in this match. He has many options.

:03:26.:03:46.

Ace number 13 from Kyrgios, the second on his second serve. Two sets

:03:47.:04:07.

is aller one game all in the fifth. -- two sets is all.

:04:08.:04:13.

-- two sets all. Oh yes, there is it -- it is. One of

:04:14.:04:25.

the great shots in world tennis at the moment.

:04:26.:04:30.

Gasquet single-handed backhander. The idea was right, from Kyrgios,

:04:31.:04:34.

but just not anywhere near enough intensity and Hustle, to get into a

:04:35.:04:38.

good volley position, not against a backhand like that.

:04:39.:04:49.

Gasquet reached the final at Eastbourne last week. Loves to Lopez

:04:50.:04:56.

on the Saturday afternoon -- lost. He has a good run on grass.

:04:57.:05:02.

Kyrgios plays a challenger in Nottingham and won the tournament,

:05:03.:05:10.

lower level event. -- played.

:05:11.:05:12.

So both men came into Wimbledon with good grass court warm up matches

:05:13.:05:20.

behind them. Good work from Gasquet. Back

:05:21.:05:45.

peddling, trying to get his body away from the ball.

:05:46.:05:50.

Fired the forehand down-the-line. Nice to see Richard Gasquet bag

:05:51.:06:00.

playing again, he didn't play at all between Indian Wells this year and

:06:01.:06:04.

the French. So that is quite a time off. He had a back injury. Even

:06:05.:06:10.

right up until his first round at the French was undecided about

:06:11.:06:14.

whether he was going to play or not. But he has obviously recovered well

:06:15.:06:18.

from it. Also Nick Kyrgios had his problems

:06:19.:06:22.

with injuries this year, he was out for a couple of months after the

:06:23.:06:27.

Australian circuit. Kyrgios has had a visit from the trainer, the

:06:28.:06:32.

physiotherapist was out at the start of the match. Looking after his left

:06:33.:06:37.

knee. He seems to have run through that problem quite well now, looking

:06:38.:06:41.

pretty comfortable round the court. Moving nicely, both men have down

:06:42.:06:46.

plenty of running out here. And they play at a ferocious pace.

:06:47.:06:57.

Kyrgios. Behind in the final set. One-2 -- 1-2.

:06:58.:07:01.

Sebastien Grosjean, the former tour player himself and the coach of

:07:02.:07:30.

Gasquet. Good tennis. Great depth. Good use

:07:31.:07:52.

of the court. Body serve. Pet I quick as well.

:07:53.:08:24.

124mph, not far short of his quickest. Pretty quick as well.

:08:25.:08:40.

129. She is a big man but at times, he

:08:41.:09:01.

has a gentle touch. Well held. -- he is a big man.

:09:02.:09:11.

19-year-old Nick Kyrgios holding his own against the experienced Richard

:09:12.:09:18.

Gasquet, 28 years of age. Celebrated his birthday just last week.

:09:19.:09:29.

All square. Two sets is all. Two games all.

:09:30.:09:41.

A little bit of a shout of celebration there from Kyrgios.

:09:42.:10:11.

Gasquet 20th ace. He is look for the same ball again. It is one of his

:10:12.:10:21.

mannerisms. He if serves is an ace, he will seek out the same ball and

:10:22.:10:23.

hope for another. That was a chance for Kyrgios.

:10:24.:10:38.

The right idea, wasn't it, Kyrgios just went after that forehand, just

:10:39.:10:56.

hitting the tape. Well left. That was close.

:10:57.:11:17.

So they are racing through the early part of this final set.

:11:18.:11:23.

No brains of serve, no break points yet.

:11:24.:11:29.

-- breaks of serve. Duration of the match approaching

:11:30.:11:35.

three hours. Richard Gasquet won an lip pick

:11:36.:11:42.

medal here at Wimbledon in 2012. In the men's doubles alongside Julian

:11:43.:11:47.

Benneteau, defeated the Spanish pair of Ferrer and Lopez to win that

:11:48.:11:52.

medal. He has gone for a fresh racket here, hot afternoon.

:11:53.:11:59.

Hardly any breeze as wellful the flags round the court flying limply

:12:00.:12:05.

at the moment. Nick Kyrgios is standing up. He has done that for

:12:06.:12:11.

the last few seconds. He stand up, has a banana and has a drink, then

:12:12.:12:16.

keep on going. Possibly something do with his knee perhaps? He doesn't

:12:17.:12:28.

want to sit down and strain it. We have had a fantastic atmosphere

:12:29.:12:33.

out here, since the match kicked off just after 11.30. The crowds have

:12:34.:12:41.

groan. No-one is going in I where -- grown. No-one is going in I where

:12:42.:12:46.

now. That is an ace. To kick things off in the sixth game of the final

:12:47.:12:48.

set. Kyrgios needs top tread carefully,

:12:49.:13:27.

taking the time to towel down at 15-30. Gasquet is beginning to

:13:28.:13:35.

prowl. Frenchman is dancing. Ready to

:13:36.:13:39.

receive here. The second serve, can Gasquet do

:13:40.:13:44.

some damage here and create a break point?

:13:45.:13:59.

Thumping forehand from the Australian! Gasquet just doing

:14:00.:14:05.

everything he could to stay in this point, the backhand, the first one

:14:06.:14:09.

and then the next one and couldn't get anywhere near that huge forehand

:14:10.:14:14.

from Kyrgios. Tremendous hitting. Did you hear what Nick said? "I have

:14:15.:14:36.

no idea what I am doing out here." He not that wrong. It is the second

:14:37.:14:39.

serve. -- he got that wrong.

:14:40.:14:59.

It's out. He is going to challenge again. I think it is out though. I

:15:00.:15:10.

think it just misses from Kerrs you His second visit upstairs in quick

:15:11.:15:13.

succession. -- Kyrgios. The first one wrong, we

:15:14.:15:16.

think he has this one. It's in! Wow. Thank goodness for the review

:15:17.:15:37.

system. Yes.

:15:38.:15:46.

Oh, what a backhand, Gasquet apologises for the fact it clipped

:15:47.:15:50.

the net, but it made no difference, it was a winner all the way.

:15:51.:15:55.

UMPIRE: Deuce, Mr Kyrgios has two challenges remaining.

:15:56.:16:05.

There is not much support for Richard Gasquet out here, they are

:16:06.:16:11.

appreciative of his backhand when it is in full flow, but the majority of

:16:12.:16:16.

the Court Two spectators are behind the Australian.

:16:17.:16:28.

What a pass from Gasquet. I think Kyrgios thought he was going

:16:29.:16:39.

to get away with this here it was a serve volley off temperature second,

:16:40.:16:42.

he couldn't get enough on the volley, to get itia from that man

:16:43.:16:45.

there, who whipped the forehand up the line.

:16:46.:16:48.

Didn't have much space there, but he found it.

:16:49.:16:56.

He is catching Gasquet on the ace counts. 15 for Kyrgios.

:16:57.:17:13.

Gasquet on 20. He has been troublesome for the

:17:14.:17:25.

Australian. Gasquet is there.

:17:26.:17:33.

We talked about it throughout this match. And that wasn't a good shot

:17:34.:17:38.

for Kyrgios to hit here, certainly not to that man's backhand side.

:17:39.:17:45.

Just thought he would catch him by surprise but Gasquet was ready for

:17:46.:17:48.

it. Great stuff. Down the centre.

:17:49.:18:34.

Gasquet had no idea where that was going.

:18:35.:18:41.

I can't split them in this final set. Three games all. Two sets all.

:18:42.:18:49.

Three hours and three minutes of fabulous

:18:50.:18:49.

Three hours and three minutes of grass court tennis.

:18:50.:19:03.

Right on the centre line from Gasquet. Number 21.

:19:04.:19:30.

A terrific return that was, to shorten the back swing, Kyrgios

:19:31.:19:37.

almost got jammed and created the angle. Took the pace off the shot.

:19:38.:19:59.

There it is in again. Yet another glorious single band hand from the

:20:00.:20:06.

Frenchman -- backhand from the Tremendous preparation with that

:20:07.:20:10.

backhand, just technically perfect. UMPIRE: Ball is called out. This is

:20:11.:20:46.

definitely worth a channel. It will be more out than in but I think it

:20:47.:20:52.

got a piece -- a challenge. . He got it right last time in this zone. He

:20:53.:20:54.

has got it right again. Another call is overturned. Richard

:20:55.:21:10.

Gasquet is under a little bit of pressure here on serve.

:21:11.:21:21.

We haven't heard much from Gasquet, but he followed ace up with a cry of

:21:22.:21:23.

celebration. He seeks out the same ball. Hoping

:21:24.:21:35.

for more of the same at 40-30. His 22nd ace.

:21:36.:21:53.

Nafrgets is nowhere near. Gasquet is back ahead, four games to

:21:54.:22:02.

three in the fifth. -- That is nowhere near.

:22:03.:22:21.

So a change of ballboys here. There is Sebastien Grosjean, twice a

:22:22.:22:29.

semifinalist here. He has coached Richard Gasquet by

:22:30.:22:35.

the double Roland Garros champion, who was with him in Eastbourne but

:22:36.:22:41.

isn't here this week at Wimbledon. He may join in the fun if Richard

:22:42.:22:46.

progresses through to the second week. Gasquet once again regripping

:22:47.:22:52.

his racket, and we have a variety of hats on show. Some shop bought, some

:22:53.:22:58.

home-made. Gasquet does this regularly throughout the matches.

:22:59.:23:02.

Grips his racket. Reyip grips it. Half way up the handle. You can see

:23:03.:23:10.

the flared butt of the racket. More like a baseball bat. It must be

:23:11.:23:12.

custom made for him. If it makes you hit a backhand like

:23:13.:23:22.

Richard Gasquet even would have a big butt on the end of their racket.

:23:23.:23:26.

Wouldn't that. Kyrgios to Pace of shot.

:23:27.:23:50.

# There has been 28 winners off that side, to Kyrgios.

:23:51.:24:00.

That too far from Gasquet. The umpire called not out. That is why

:24:01.:24:16.

Gasquet looked at him. It looked good to me.

:24:17.:24:25.

Just wide. Right shot from the Australian, because Gasquet was

:24:26.:24:31.

stranded on the other side of the court, but he missed it by a couple

:24:32.:24:33.

of inches. 117mph down the middle of the court.

:24:34.:25:09.

Four games all in the final set. No tie-break in the final set. Open

:25:10.:25:15.

ended possible fifth set here. Nick Kyrgios, he has only played one

:25:16.:25:20.

five set match and that was at the Australian Open in the second round,

:25:21.:25:25.

when he was up two sets to love and he lost in five, to Paire. He has

:25:26.:25:32.

never come from two love down to win a five set match. If he achieved it

:25:33.:25:38.

-- achieves it today it would be a first. New balls coming out for

:25:39.:25:41.

Richard Gasquet. Four games all. Final set, where

:25:42.:25:44.

will it take us now? That is a lovely shot from Gasquet.

:25:45.:26:46.

Wonderful control. Pressure here after this change of

:26:47.:27:43.

end for Nick Kyrgios, he will be serving to stay in this second round

:27:44.:27:48.

match. Staying on his feet again during the change over.

:27:49.:28:09.

Nick Kyrgios involved in some light hearted conversation with the

:28:10.:28:12.

umpire. He doesn't want to loiter by his chair at all. He hasn't sat down

:28:13.:28:17.

for a long time now, on the change of end, Nick Kyrgios, happier to

:28:18.:28:22.

munch on a banana standing up and having a sip of water, tail off and

:28:23.:28:28.

he is ready to get into it again. The match has been played at a brisk

:28:29.:28:30.

pace throughout. Good to see. fantastics and his connections

:28:31.:28:54.

wanted. Love 15. 4-5, final set. He need a big serve

:28:55.:28:57.

here. Love 30. A bit of afters from

:28:58.:29:12.

Richard Gasquet as he played the overhead. Two points from victory

:29:13.:29:17.

the Frenchman. A bit cautious here Kyrgios. Doesn't have the same pace

:29:18.:29:22.

of shot off either side. three match points.

:29:23.:29:52.

The fanatics in their green and gold, doing their very best to

:29:53.:29:55.

motivate their man. Is it too late. That was well played by Nicky reels.

:29:56.:38:05.

By Nick Kyrgios. He has missed that. Now that is something for Nick

:38:06.:38:06.

Kyrgios to think about. 15-0. That is horribly short. Another much

:38:07.:39:25.

point. -- match point. Nick Kyrgios has already saved three match points

:39:26.:39:33.

but can he said another one? -- can he save another one? Yes, he can.

:39:34.:40:10.

way that Richard Gasquet could have won that point. That opened up the

:40:11.:40:27.

door. Match point neighbour five. -- number five. It is a double fault.

:40:28.:40:37.

It is being challenged. This would be a dreadful way for this riveting

:40:38.:40:42.

match to end. But it will be checked by the Hawk-eye system. And it is

:40:43.:40:46.

in! I am not too sure of what Prichard

:40:47.:40:58.

Gascony is complaining about. There is nothing that he can do. --

:40:59.:41:09.

Reichard cascade. It will be a first serve. It is still match point. We

:41:10.:41:14.

go again. Goodness me! For a split second, I

:41:15.:42:06.

thought that he had not given it enough power. There are not too many

:42:07.:42:16.

free seats in the house now. It is a white knuckle ride now.

:42:17.:42:35.

That is a great shot. It was varied deep in the shot. -- in the court. A

:42:36.:42:49.

great way to respond to those people in the crowd who were winding him

:42:50.:42:51.

up. Richard Gasquet has another match

:42:52.:43:12.

point. UMPIRE: Nick Kyrgios challenging the

:43:13.:43:46.

call. I would not do this between Serbs. -- between Serbs.

:43:47.:43:58.

The trademark shot let him down. Nine can -- times out of ten you

:43:59.:44:18.

would bang on him to make that shot. -- bank on him.

:44:19.:44:29.

Goodness me. That was brave and it was lucky. He hit a tough shot. It

:44:30.:44:42.

hit the net cord. What a game this one is! We have had a little bit of

:44:43.:44:47.

everything in this game. He has overcooked the backhand once

:44:48.:45:02.

again and Nick Kyrgios survives. That was tremendous. This young

:45:03.:45:13.

boy, he is only 19 years of age. He really is. He is up against a former

:45:14.:45:19.

semifinalist here at Wimbledon. The backhand is on display

:45:20.:45:27.

immediately. Richard Gasquet is going to the ball

:45:28.:45:57.

boys who are at the net. It is very tense all there. -- out there. That

:45:58.:46:03.

is his 25th ace. Nick Kyrgios is just a little bit in

:46:04.:46:58.

patient. He wants to trade a fume or ground strokes with his opponent. --

:46:59.:47:04.

a few more ground strokes. SUE BARKER:. What a match this is! We

:47:05.:47:11.

will join it again shortly. Ana Ivanovic is through. Simone Bolelli

:47:12.:47:35.

come of what a story this is! He has beaten Philipp Kohlschreiber. That

:47:36.:47:45.

matched took over three hours. That -- that match lasted.

:47:46.:47:54.

COMMENTATOR: the players are coming back onto Court Number Two. Nick

:47:55.:48:01.

Kyrgios to serve to stay in the match. The final set.

:48:02.:48:16.

That is wide. Richard Gasquet has played 20 five set matches over the

:48:17.:48:33.

course of his career. He has got lucky again. They said these things

:48:34.:48:38.

even out, but that has not been the case today. It has mostly been in

:48:39.:48:49.

the favour of Nick Kyrgios today. He has been doubly lucky.

:48:50.:49:01.

Nick Kyrgios played that straight back to his opponent. That was an

:49:02.:49:12.

absolute gift. Just a little bit cautious, wasn't he?

:49:13.:49:32.

He made sure about that. That was a great tactic. We had not seen that

:49:33.:49:44.

too many times in this match. But that was an important shop. -- and

:49:45.:50:03.

important shot. That was tricky. Straight off the top of the court

:50:04.:50:13.

surface. Richard Gasquet has his seventh match point.

:50:14.:50:24.

Nick Kyrgios was just hanging in there. Eventually he was able to

:50:25.:51:22.

attack. That was in -- an absolutely lovely

:51:23.:51:40.

return! Plenty of movement through the a on

:51:41.:52:12.

that second serve. And Nick Kyrgios has said seven

:52:13.:52:53.

match points along the way. -- has saved.

:52:54.:53:33.

Richard Gasquet is prowling. He is taking his time to prepare.

:53:34.:54:05.

It is long. Nick Kyrgios can sense a real opportunity here.

:54:06.:54:15.

It is long. Nick Kyrgios can sense a He has been under so much pressure

:54:16.:54:19.

with his own serve, he has not had that any opportunities on the serve

:54:20.:54:21.

up his opponent. -- of his opponent. That hurt, is what he said. I will

:54:22.:54:49.

bet that it did. That is great work! Absolutely

:54:50.:55:24.

wonderful. That is really appreciated by this crowd on Court

:55:25.:55:34.

Number Two. An excellent drop shot. He puts that barley away and there

:55:35.:55:35.

is the response. Break point. You could hear a pin drop is that

:55:36.:56:09.

point was played. There was far too much on that from the Australian

:56:10.:56:10.

player. That was his signature shot to the

:56:11.:57:00.

rescue. He is back in front. The cameras are here trying to capture

:57:01.:57:11.

an important moment. COMMENTATOR: what a match this is! Let's show you

:57:12.:57:18.

what is happening on Centre Court. Rabe Nadal is in the driving seat.

:57:19.:57:24.

He is already up a break of serve in the fourth set. -- Rafael Nadal.

:57:25.:57:35.

That match is live over on BBC1 now. Here is what is happening on Court

:57:36.:57:42.

16. Tommy Robredo is out there. He is two sets up against his French

:57:43.:57:46.

opponent. You can follow that match online. And Stanislas Wawrinka is on

:57:47.:57:58.

Court Number One at the moment. He is ranked number three in the world.

:57:59.:58:06.

He has taken the first set but it is a real battle all. -- real battle

:58:07.:58:15.

out there. Sabine Lisicki is out on Court Number Three. That is online.

:58:16.:58:26.

You are up-to-date. Now we will go back to Court Number Two.

:58:27.:58:33.

COMMENTATOR: serving to stay in this match once again.

:58:34.:58:43.

Ray Shah cascade is making his opponent run and run in the late

:58:44.:58:51.

stages of this match. -- Richard Gasquet.

:58:52.:59:40.

Nick Kyrgios is forcing his way back into this game. His opponent got

:59:41.:59:47.

somewhat defensive there. Just a little bit curveball. Yes,

:59:48.:00:21.

caution was required. He is in trouble again. An eighth match

:00:22.:00:23.

point. None of these match point have been

:00:24.:00:37.

on the serve of Richard Gasquet. number nine. Is Nick Kyrgios running

:00:38.:01:07.

out of luck? just loving it. This man has his

:01:08.:01:33.

back to the wall. That serve reached 124 miles an hour.

:01:34.:01:54.

How was that for a second serve? It was courageous.

:01:55.:02:19.

A change of direction. Nick Kyrgios did not see that one coming. The

:02:20.:02:33.

third use of the game. 25th backhand winner of the match.

:02:34.:02:54.

For anyone else, it backhand shot like that is risky.

:02:55.:03:21.

It is long. It is 8-8 in the final set. All these match point is, they

:03:22.:03:35.

have to be starting to play on the mind of Richard Gasquet. Three hours

:03:36.:03:49.

and 48 minutes. It has been a compelling match.

:03:50.:04:10.

Nick Kyrgios got back in behind that. Well played!

:04:11.:04:20.

He took a little bit of the case of the forehand. He thought that across

:04:21.:04:25.

the court. Richard Gasquet is showing some

:04:26.:04:43.

signs of frailty. What an amazing point from Nick

:04:44.:05:37.

Kyrgios. First he played that backhand slice. Then he played that

:05:38.:05:45.

forehand shot and it landed on the baseline. Each year coming up from

:05:46.:05:50.

the crowd. Three break points. Kyrgios will serve for it.

:05:51.:06:05.

UMPIRE: New balls, please. If things could get any worse for

:06:06.:06:33.

Richard Gasquet, Nick Kyrgios will be serving with new balls.

:06:34.:06:48.

He is like a marathon runner getting himself a shower with the water

:06:49.:06:55.

bottle. This is the hottest ticket in tennis this afternoon.

:06:56.:07:24.

Kyrgios was begging, no way that is out. And he was right.

:07:25.:07:44.

It is a belter! It gives them a little bit of breathing space.

:07:45.:08:05.

The Australian fanatics are dancing to joy already. It is not over yet.

:08:06.:08:19.

He has done it! An epic fightback from Nick Kyrgios.

:08:20.:08:39.

From two set to love down, he was in an charted waters. Listen to this.

:08:40.:08:52.

He is pointing to the fanatics, pumping his heart. The youngest man

:08:53.:08:57.

in the draw, Nick Kyrgios. He has only ever played one other five set

:08:58.:09:03.

match at a Grand Slam. He was up two sets to love. He lost it in five.

:09:04.:09:10.

Playing against the man who has played 20 five set matches. What a

:09:11.:09:19.

performance. Of course, Richard Gasquet made a massive contribution

:09:20.:09:25.

to this battle on Court Two. He can leave with his head held high. They

:09:26.:09:33.

were always behind the underdog, the 19-year-old Australian has made a

:09:34.:09:35.

serious breakthrough this afternoon. Kyrgios in no rush to leave the

:09:36.:09:54.

scene of his greatest triumph. He is just going to soak it up for a

:09:55.:10:00.

little longer. He has earned some fans here today, Nick Kyrgios. What

:10:01.:10:07.

a spectacular performance. We saw it all out on Court Two. Big serving,

:10:08.:10:13.

good use of the court, tremendous court coverage. He saved nine match

:10:14.:10:22.

points along the way. What a win for Nick Kyrgios.

:10:23.:10:33.

SUE BARKER: What a story and a real star of the future, Nick Kyrgios

:10:34.:10:41.

putting at the very experienced Richard Gasquet. The Australian fans

:10:42.:10:45.

will not be getting far from that court because Lleyton Hewitt will be

:10:46.:10:49.

on much later this afternoon. Aussie tennis really on the up. Let's show

:10:50.:10:58.

you what is happening elsewhere. It is going well for Tommy Robredo, the

:10:59.:11:00.

23rd seed. Over on Court Three, Sabine Lisicki,

:11:01.:11:13.

last year's runner-up, she has taken the opening set on serve. That

:11:14.:11:15.

matches on the red button. Let's take you further around to

:11:16.:11:32.

court number 12. One of the new young stars rising in the game, she

:11:33.:11:38.

has a break of serve in her match out on court 12. And Stan were in

:11:39.:11:45.

car has taken the first set in his match. -- Stanislas Wawrinka. But

:11:46.:11:53.

there is a problem with his back and the trainer is standing by. We will

:11:54.:11:58.

keep an eye on that. Let's stay with this one and we will join our

:11:59.:12:02.

commentators Peter Fleming and Mark Petchey.

:12:03.:12:11.

Lu will be delighted with that service game.

:12:12.:12:20.

They looked as if things were looking a bit bleak once again for

:12:21.:12:28.

the man from Chinese Taipei. He had to save break points the opening

:12:29.:12:35.

game of the second set. It looked as if Wawrinka was starting to get

:12:36.:12:41.

traction on his return. He has struggled enormously in that

:12:42.:12:45.

department in this match. He struggled with success in the

:12:46.:12:51.

opening set. He came back from 5-1 down, his opponent having served for

:12:52.:12:58.

the set at 5-4. There is still work to be done in this match. Oh, yes.

:12:59.:13:05.

Wawrinka has to be thrilled that he is up a set and on serve here, even

:13:06.:13:14.

though he could quite easily have been up a break couple of times.

:13:15.:13:23.

He has not really looked himself thus far in this match. He slipped

:13:24.:13:27.

quite drastically early on. There was definitely a little puff

:13:28.:13:44.

of white but it looked behind the line, to be fair.

:13:45.:13:54.

He has had some quick ones in the match. That is right up there. 35

:13:55.:15:01.

seconds was his quickest. He heats the pressure back on Lu who

:15:02.:15:08.

has struggled but so far survived. He has been quite vocal in this

:15:09.:15:34.

match, or Wawrinka. He tries to stay positive throughout the troubles he

:15:35.:15:37.

has had. He hasn't figured out a plan at all.

:15:38.:16:08.

Sometimes ripping the forehand, and others chipping it.

:16:09.:16:28.

that period where he was playing so strongly. It is not as if he has

:16:29.:16:35.

gone away completely. You felt he could see what the opponent was

:16:36.:16:38.

going to do and he had the finesse in the hands.

:16:39.:17:13.

A week ago he said he was not Stanislas Wawrinka any more, he was

:17:14.:17:17.

down. -- Stan Wawrinka. And an inch or two inside the

:17:18.:17:55.

baseline. You are right, it is hard work. A

:17:56.:18:21.

lot of hard work to play the way this game is played. But it is also

:18:22.:18:28.

his ability to come up with moments of inspiration like that backhand

:18:29.:18:32.

that allows him to play with the very best players in the world. Such

:18:33.:18:40.

a dominant player when things go his way.

:18:41.:19:14.

2010 was the year that Lu was having his greatest ever run to the

:19:15.:19:20.

quarterfinals. suddenly finds himself trailing by a

:19:21.:20:26.

set and a break. Trying to press a little bit.

:20:27.:20:35.

He has looked to the over the course of his career. He broke into the top

:20:36.:20:44.

100 back in 2004. He has not looked as resilient in this match is he

:20:45.:20:45.

perhaps should have been. He carries the weight of

:20:46.:21:50.

expectations in two Grand Slams now. In this match it is his weight

:21:51.:21:58.

of shot which is proving too much for Lu at times.

:21:59.:22:17.

That was an interesting play. He soft bald Lu.

:22:18.:22:50.

Nicely played. Perhaps just a bit of desperation in that shot.

:22:51.:24:55.

It was a slip like that back in the first set that really seemed to set

:24:56.:25:04.

Wawrinka on edge. It was quite a nasty fall. It appeared as though we

:25:05.:25:13.

he might have jammed his heel or hurt his back.

:25:14.:25:25.

We wondered if it might have repercussions but it does not seem

:25:26.:25:34.

to have. He seems to have settled into a reasonable frame of mind.

:25:35.:25:48.

Lu, you feel has get off to a good start in this third set. He has lost

:25:49.:26:02.

a couple of times from two sets to love up. Fernando Gonzalez in the

:26:03.:26:14.

2000 French Open, came back after dropping the opening two sets

:26:15.:26:15.

against Wawrinka. That is pretty clearly a first

:26:16.:27:45.

serve. Lu was the one who should feel hard done by here.

:27:46.:28:41.

Wawrinka's first serve percentage has improved greatly from set number

:28:42.:28:43.

one. It is hovering around the 50% mark

:28:44.:28:54.

but it was in the 30s. He is just a bludgeon at times,

:28:55.:29:36.

isn't he? Not a lot you can do to take him off the ball. You can't

:29:37.:29:42.

expect an awful lot from the point where -- when you put it on his

:29:43.:29:43.

backhand. sitting up nicely. He hits that

:29:44.:30:18.

return at shoulder height. would have been more difficult

:30:19.:31:09.

Hattie Dean once set up. You feel Lu's opportunity came and went after

:31:10.:31:16.

45 minutes. -- had he been one set up. He served and he found himself

:31:17.:31:23.

5-up in the tie-break. Wawrinka can play with more freedom, even though

:31:24.:31:27.

he was one set down. Lu started running. While the ball

:31:28.:31:57.

was still sitting there! It is as though Stan must have changed his

:31:58.:32:03.

mind, but he did not. A shocking error!

:32:04.:33:32.

A confident overhead. He warmed up for these Wimbledon Championships by

:33:33.:33:47.

reaching the quarterfinals. He had to pull out against Roger Federer in

:33:48.:33:52.

the quarterfinals. He went at Eastbourne but lost out in the

:33:53.:34:01.

opening round. -- to Eastbourne. If this were to go the distance... But

:34:02.:34:07.

he has never pulled back a situation like this this far down, his career.

:34:08.:34:22.

-- like this, this far down. That was a nice ball to hit.

:34:23.:34:56.

That was a graceful move from Wawrinka but not especially

:34:57.:35:03.

powerful. It would not surprise me if his body was not feeling in

:35:04.:35:05.

condition right now. He can handle a bit of pain, we know

:35:06.:35:28.

about his tattoo. Wawrinka. His trainer has been there the entire

:35:29.:35:31.

match. Yet to make an appearance on to the grass. And a to refit return

:35:32.:35:40.

from Lu. -- a great return. A number of those in the opening set. And he

:35:41.:35:47.

has a tattoo of his daughter's name, Alexia.

:35:48.:36:01.

He is looking for his second rate of serve in this match, Lu. -- break.

:36:02.:37:02.

It has been gifted to him. His Italian coach. He is delighted with

:37:03.:37:17.

that. He played very briefly on the tour in 1992.

:37:18.:37:27.

A journey such as this begins with little steps. But one of the more

:37:28.:37:36.

unusual moments in the match was the good cat chat -- catch. But the

:37:37.:37:44.

throw was not quite so opportune. Lu knew exactly what would happen. You

:37:45.:37:49.

can see the serve from Wawrinka was coming down. He was not entirely

:37:50.:37:57.

sure so -- that he was going to get a first serve again. He was

:37:58.:38:04.

checking, and that is what happened. He got himself out of a hole from

:38:05.:38:09.

the first game. Not so in the third. You could be excused. This guy had a

:38:10.:38:17.

yellow card. Now he has the red. He is on the phone! Injected from the

:38:18.:38:23.

building! How many sins for a spectator? That is at least two

:38:24.:38:30.

serious crimes committed by that man. He will be on Crimewatch. You

:38:31.:38:40.

could be excused for thinking Wawrinka was two sets to love down

:38:41.:38:42.

the way he started this third. Lu serving with the new balls. At

:38:43.:38:59.

super -- at two sets to love up, you must be thinking, let's get out of

:39:00.:39:03.

here. Wawrinka has done anything but.

:39:04.:39:25.

That is the problem for him. He was so good in that segment from the US

:39:26.:39:47.

Open to his crowning glory down under in Australia. He just seems to

:39:48.:39:51.

have lost a bit of rhythm. And it was always going to be a

:39:52.:40:08.

period of adjustment for the current World Number 3 after winning that

:40:09.:40:14.

title. It has been amazing how easily the big four have seemingly

:40:15.:40:19.

won major titles and handled the pressure to win multiple grand slam

:40:20.:40:22.

titles. It is who they are. They are serial

:40:23.:40:39.

winners. What is the big deal? I have always won, I am still always

:40:40.:40:44.

winning, so nothing has changed. For somebody like Stan who has had to

:40:45.:40:51.

fight his way up, you get vertigo. You think, this is a little

:40:52.:41:00.

uncomfortable. It takes time. That was the type of instinctive return

:41:01.:41:05.

we were seeing when he was playing at his absolute best. A nice change

:41:06.:41:11.

of play from Lu. If you are analysing the weight Wawrinka

:41:12.:41:14.

returns, you would think it was not a bad time to go for the serve and

:41:15.:41:20.

volley -- the way. He has seen him and he has picked him off. It is the

:41:21.:41:26.

second time Lu has broken the Wawrinka serve and dropped away

:41:27.:41:27.

straightaway. Difficult to pinpoint why that would

:41:28.:41:55.

be. Was it Lu choking? Did Wawrinka get a wake-up call and say, I need

:41:56.:42:00.

to play my best tennis now because if I do not, he will get away from

:42:01.:42:02.

me? Probably more the latter. A simplistic service game for

:42:03.:42:50.

Wawrinka. Maybe once in a while, Lu has shown

:42:51.:43:09.

a frailty. That last point, that return back. Wawrinka's forehand was

:43:10.:43:16.

not especially powerful. You would have thought Lu would be there but

:43:17.:43:22.

he had given up the ghost. So perhaps something is not quite right

:43:23.:43:26.

or he is a bit tired at the moment. He has had injury problems reading

:43:27.:43:32.

into this tournament. He is struggling just a little bit

:43:33.:43:37.

physically. Ash going into. He has not handled adversity in this match.

:43:38.:43:45.

-- going into this tournament. You can see how still stand keeps his

:43:46.:43:48.

head. -- Stan. He did deal with that massive

:43:49.:44:26.

adversity early in his life when he was 17. His Father passed away with

:44:27.:44:33.

a sudden heart attack. He left the game for a bit and he did not want

:44:34.:44:36.

to play, that is completely understandable. Then he decided it

:44:37.:44:41.

was his Father's dream to see his son break the top 100, which he did,

:44:42.:44:44.

in 2004. His dad used to chase chickens as a

:44:45.:45:09.

living and his son is trying to chase Wawrinka. I think his Father

:45:10.:45:12.

was a little more successful! He has had a good match, the umpire.

:45:13.:45:31.

He has had awkward moments he has handled very nicely.

:45:32.:45:55.

I wonder if Magnus Norman is warming his shoulder up in that box, waiting

:45:56.:46:06.

for the serving he will be doing over the next couple of days, to try

:46:07.:46:10.

to hone in his return that has been somewhat problematic for Wawrinka

:46:11.:46:13.

today. He has not timed it well. You can see those words on his

:46:14.:46:26.

T-shirt, the academy he has in Sweden. Sweden have been back on

:46:27.:46:29.

tour. Stephane Edberg. Who is he with?

:46:30.:46:48.

Some nobody, I think! I can't remember. So many great players

:46:49.:47:03.

coming back into tennis and he has proved to be one of the great

:47:04.:47:06.

players with his championship down under.

:47:07.:47:15.

UMPIRE: Mr Lu has two challenges. This is a man with such great foot

:47:16.:47:51.

speed but there has not been a priority to utilise that as best he

:47:52.:47:54.

can. He has much awaited dramatically

:47:55.:47:59.

from going for it, it seems he has had a clear game plan. There was a

:48:00.:48:04.

chance Wawrinka could have beaten himself. Absolutely, I am with you.

:48:05.:48:10.

I am not sure how well Lu has competed today.

:48:11.:48:55.

It is a good return. A pretty poor serve. Poorly placed, certainly.

:48:56.:49:21.

Wobbling again on serve. Wawrinka has had to hit over his ground

:49:22.:49:34.

strokes. Most of them. From difficult situations.

:49:35.:49:39.

Surprised he has not sometimes chosen to slide them back.

:49:40.:49:56.

Trying to stand his ground, Wawrinka. Did not retreat at all. Lu

:49:57.:50:03.

is very much on the advance. Make point. -- break point.

:50:04.:50:27.

Lu is hanging in mentally. Another visual illustration that for getting

:50:28.:50:36.

balls in court, Wawrinka is self destruct in. A gentle throw of the

:50:37.:50:43.

racket, it will not come with a warning. A lot of frustration for

:50:44.:50:47.

the Australian PM champion at his I wonder if Lu understands the

:50:48.:50:57.

Gravity. He is competing well and he wants to win this set, but it feels

:50:58.:51:03.

as though he could swing this match. Right now, if you somehow manages --

:51:04.:51:10.

if he somehow manages to maintain his advantage here. Wawrinka is not

:51:11.:51:16.

at all comfortable. He does not really appear to be having much fun

:51:17.:51:22.

at all and not timing the ball well at all, he is really struggling.

:51:23.:51:27.

Perhaps physically as well as emotionally. You can see, he is

:51:28.:51:33.

shaking his head, I do not know what is going on here. He has managed his

:51:34.:51:38.

tennis all right, 40 winners and 27 unforced errors. That has

:51:39.:51:43.

contributed to the situation he finds himself in, down a break in

:51:44.:51:45.

this third set. That is another unforced error.

:51:46.:52:20.

Talking about managing tennis, that is where Lu has not been so great.

:52:21.:52:25.

19 winners but 23 unforced errors. Four less than Wawrinka. You do not

:52:26.:52:35.

feel as though Lu, you feel he could have been in a more advantageous

:52:36.:52:46.

position. He is not quite in turmoil as yet, Wawrinka. But there is

:52:47.:52:50.

certainly a great deal of confusion within his mind.

:52:51.:53:50.

As a top player yourself, I am sure you have been in that situation. The

:53:51.:53:59.

expectation you put on yourself, how much does it hinder your performance

:54:00.:54:03.

when you do not hit the highs you are capable of? It is frustrating.

:54:04.:54:22.

And let's face it, Wawrinka is normally such a great athlete and it

:54:23.:54:32.

looks as though he is somewhat inhibited. And that in itself will

:54:33.:54:38.

be of great frustration, playing in front of all these people. He will

:54:39.:54:43.

want to show them what he can do. Viewing key maybe 70%, 80% of that.

:54:44.:54:53.

-- feeling he maybe. He is going through a down period right now. He

:54:54.:54:57.

is struggling just to hang in. Lu is buoyed by the success he has

:54:58.:55:15.

had in this third set and he suddenly finds himself with a couple

:55:16.:55:21.

of set points. That is a bit of a collapse from Wawrinka. Lu

:55:22.:55:31.

capitalises on it. We are going to leave this match on

:55:32.:55:35.

BBC Two but if you want to continue watching, it continues on the red

:55:36.:55:40.

button. One result, a match that was held

:55:41.:55:45.

over from yesterday. They finished at nine games all in the final set

:55:46.:55:49.

yesterday. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Sam Querrey. Jo-Wilfried

:55:50.:55:55.

Tsonga came through it 14 games against 12. They were on court three

:55:56.:56:03.

hours and 49 minutes. The crowd enjoying great entertainment, but

:56:04.:56:07.

that is what this man is about. He loves to entertain during and after

:56:08.:56:13.

the match. Popular around the world. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He is into the

:56:14.:56:19.

next round. So we are heading to Centre Court

:56:20.:56:24.

now to see the British number one Heather Watson in action against the

:56:25.:56:29.

ninth seed Angelique Kerber. Breaks of serve so far. Lindsay Davenport

:56:30.:56:33.

is alongside Nick Mullins. That is the best return we have seen

:56:34.:57:13.

from Heather, taking her chances. She has to do that when she sees

:57:14.:57:17.

second serves today. That is the first time either of

:57:18.:57:36.

these women has hung on to serve. Opening up just a little bit of

:57:37.:57:37.

daylight. It is tough to imagine Bastia when

:57:38.:58:12.

she was dealing with glandular fever, her dad was getting her out

:58:13.:58:21.

of bed each day. -- last year. Hard to imagine she would be here on

:58:22.:58:23.

Centre Court, centrestage. forehand. So tough to play against

:58:24.:59:27.

Kerber because she hits the ball is so close to the line and so low over

:59:28.:59:32.

the net. She does not miss often so you have to go for more on your own

:59:33.:59:36.

and ground strokes -- ground strokes.

:59:37.:59:45.

How well did she get over that? On her tip toes. It is the best

:59:46.:59:53.

backhand Watson has hit this match. She steps into the court and she

:59:54.:59:59.

transfers her weight inside, following the path of the ball. A

:00:00.:00:03.

bit more power on that backhand to get it passed Kerber.

:00:04.:01:00.

The air is pretty thin at this altitude. The German establishes a

:01:01.:01:07.

double break of serve. I know one of the things Heather

:01:08.:01:24.

Watson was saying to herself last week was that playing this new,

:01:25.:01:28.

aggressive game, adding more power to the shots, means you will hit

:01:29.:01:32.

more unforced errors, it is part of the deal she signed with herself.

:01:33.:01:36.

She just had to get used to that idea. Absolutely. You definitely

:01:37.:01:42.

incur more risk when you go for more on your shots. But you always want

:01:43.:01:46.

to try to make your weaknesses better. One of Heather's weaknesses

:01:47.:01:51.

was not being able to put a lot of pace on the shots, not putting them

:01:52.:01:57.

away. It is no different to a player that is not very quick. To do well,

:01:58.:02:02.

these days in women's tennis, you need to have some sort of finish, I

:02:03.:02:09.

have to applaud Heather Watson for coming out this year with a

:02:10.:02:12.

different mindset, trying to be a bit more aggressive.

:02:13.:02:17.

She needs to dig back at this Kerber serve fairly quickly. It is one of

:02:18.:02:25.

the German's weaknesses. Watson is colluding, that Kerber is

:02:26.:02:52.

not running to the open court, she is trying to cover behind herself

:02:53.:02:56.

and therefore an easy forehand for Watson to put away.

:02:57.:03:07.

It is a great mix from Kerber, she is so consistent with his shots, but

:03:08.:03:14.

as you said, she will unload on that forehand when she has time.

:03:15.:04:02.

Watson, the Argentinian. He helped inspire her to go big.

:04:03.:04:19.

From a German perspective... Ambitious Heather Watson is being

:04:20.:04:33.

handled very well. By their charge. Benjamin Ibrahim Zadie, her coach.

:04:34.:04:40.

APPLAUSE A nice first serve from Heather

:04:41.:04:51.

Watson. She has got to try to make more first serves in. She does not

:04:52.:04:57.

want to be caught trying to defend her second serve the majority of the

:04:58.:04:58.

time. UMPIRE: The ball was she looked up

:04:59.:05:23.

to her coach, he was not entirely sure. -- UMPIRE: The ball was called

:05:24.:05:29.

out. APPLAUSE

:05:30.:06:08.

There was that backhand at the line. Great job. With her left wrist in

:06:09.:06:15.

this last one. Just enough Kok to get that ball to curve in. -- just

:06:16.:06:22.

enough hook. APPLAUSE

:06:23.:07:03.

Much-needed morale boost. UMPIRE: New balls please. SUE

:07:04.:07:21.

BARKER: we are back to see Kerber serve for the first set. We saw

:07:22.:07:27.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga win his match against Sam Querrey. It took in

:07:28.:07:32.

three hours and 49 minutes, held over from last night, an absolute

:07:33.:07:40.

thriller. Jimmy Wang next, how much do you know about you would draw?

:07:41.:07:45.

Have you played him before? Yes, when we were 14! It will be nice to

:07:46.:07:49.

play against him again. I want a chance to play a round of

:07:50.:08:05.

16 and we will see. The last year and a half or so, it seems like you

:08:06.:08:10.

are struggling to maintain a position you held, how tiring has it

:08:11.:08:13.

been to chase Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Djokovic and Nadal? It it

:08:14.:08:22.

is difficult. We do the same job but we do not really have the same

:08:23.:08:30.

rewards. They are just too good. We work hard. I hope I will have the

:08:31.:08:38.

chance to go through, but anyway, I will continue to play tennis, and

:08:39.:08:45.

give the best of myself. You certainly worked hard this week,

:08:46.:08:49.

congratulations. Thank you. SUE BARKER: we rejoin this with Kerber

:08:50.:08:55.

serving for the set. LINDSAY DAVENPORT: this is great

:08:56.:09:41.

hitting from Kerber, a similar player to Watson in terms of her

:09:42.:09:46.

consistency. But she has developed that weapon with the forehand and a

:09:47.:09:50.

few years ago, she did not have that finishing shot. She worked hard to

:09:51.:09:54.

get it. It is such a big weapon in her game.

:09:55.:10:19.

She did not accelerate there. Kerber has given her two double faults in

:10:20.:10:28.

this game and two easy unforced errors from Watson.

:10:29.:10:54.

Germany's number one strikes first against Britain's number one. SUE

:10:55.:11:02.

BARKER: looking very strong on Centre Court. One result to bring

:11:03.:11:07.

you from the ladies championship is that of last year's runner-up,

:11:08.:11:19.

seeded 19, this year, Lisicki is through and goes through to face Ana

:11:20.:11:20.

Ivanovic. seeded 19, this year, Lisicki is

:11:21.:11:27.

through and goes Tommy Robredo, so much experience, seeded 23, he is

:11:28.:11:34.

through against Adrian Mannarino. A straight sets victory but a tough

:11:35.:11:38.

one looms for him, either Lleyton Hewitt on last year's semifinalists,

:11:39.:11:47.

Jerzy Janowicz. Robredo, such battle on court and he through to the third

:11:48.:11:59.

round. Over on court 12, Andrea Petkovic has had a slip which is a

:12:00.:12:03.

shame and she has got the train on the court. 20th seed, 1-1. That

:12:04.:12:14.

happening on court 12. 6-4 to Petkovic and Begu taking the second.

:12:15.:12:19.

Let's rejoin Centre Court. UMPIRE: Second set, Miss Watson to

:12:20.:12:32.

serve. UMPIRE: Miss Watson put in a call,

:12:33.:12:40.

the ball was called out. Why a segment! -- by a segment.

:12:41.:13:22.

Great way to start the second set of, not just with an ace but her

:13:23.:13:24.

fastest serve of the match. UMPIRE: The ball was called in. It

:13:25.:13:45.

was initially called out. Overruled by the umpire. Heather Watson thinks

:13:46.:13:55.

it was out, hence the challenge. UMPIRE: Replay points. Miss Watson

:13:56.:13:58.

has two challenges remaining. Again, just pulling off her shots,

:13:59.:14:56.

Heather. Just wants to try finish going forward, not sideways, before

:14:57.:15:01.

you have made contact, before you have finished your follow-through.

:15:02.:15:21.

That is good hitting from Kerber. She has such a great sense of when

:15:22.:15:31.

she can go for more, when the right time is to make balls. And that big

:15:32.:15:34.

weapon, the forehand up the line. Again, the first serve, sets Watson

:15:35.:15:57.

up for the easy second shot and that is the shot that will have to

:15:58.:16:02.

improve today for her to have a chance. That

:16:03.:16:03.
