Hello, welcome back to our Winter Olympic coverage on the BBC, we are | :00:44. | :01:39.
-- we are live in Sochi, a stones throw from the of the Black Sea. It | :01:40. | :01:45.
is chilly, crisp, and the air is burning bright with anticipation and | :01:46. | :01:49.
excitement. The flame is looking magnificent. In the distance, the | :01:50. | :01:55.
stage, where there is a concert on, and every night, medals will be | :01:56. | :02:00.
presented. We have had a feud today, hung around the necks of the chosen | :02:01. | :02:07.
fruit -- the chosen few. Here is what is coming up this evening. We | :02:08. | :02:13.
are sliding fast, with the legend of luge. Staying on ice, figure | :02:14. | :02:21.
skating's team event reaches a crucial stage. And, we are live | :02:22. | :02:27.
under the floodlights for the women's moguls final. So, plenty | :02:28. | :02:34.
still to come, but first, the men's slopestyle, a new event, the | :02:35. | :02:39.
snowboarders got their chance this morning, it was full of big tricks | :02:40. | :02:44.
and funky falls. We had two British competitors, Jamie Nicholls and | :02:45. | :02:49.
Billy Morgan, and here is a round-up of what happened. | :02:50. | :02:53.
It will be the best school from the two runs that counts. The American, | :02:54. | :03:00.
one of the most creative, stylish riders. He has laid down the run he | :03:01. | :03:12.
was looking for. Billy Morgan, the boy from Southampton. Oh, no! The | :03:13. | :03:24.
next rider, Jamie Nicholls. One two, three, four, yes! He puts it down! | :03:25. | :03:37.
And absolutely stonking run! Clean, clinical through the rails. Really | :03:38. | :03:49.
deep, really clean. Now, Billy Morgan's second run. Oh, no! It is | :03:50. | :04:03.
not over for Great Britain. He has slipped off the side of the rail. | :04:04. | :04:08.
Can he complete the whole run this time? He is in danger of melting if | :04:09. | :04:17.
he gets any smoother. Second place! It is the first gold medal of Sochi | :04:18. | :04:26.
2014, it goes to America. Jamie Nicholls in sixth, Billy Morgan | :04:27. | :04:28.
intent. Can we breathe now? Slopestyle a huge hit with the | :04:29. | :04:36.
viewers, the commentary going down very well. Two historic points to | :04:37. | :04:43.
make, for the USA, because this is the first time they have competed on | :04:44. | :04:47.
Russian soil, that is the first gold medal but have one on Russian soil, | :04:48. | :04:51.
and then medal ceremony took place a short while ago. For Jamie Nicholls, | :04:52. | :04:57.
Britain's best result on snow since 1968, but you will know that Alan | :04:58. | :05:02.
Baxter had a short lived bronze medal in 2002. Let's have a look at | :05:03. | :05:07.
the other headline makers on the first day. It has been a great day | :05:08. | :05:19.
for Norway, at 40 years of age, a to become the joint most decorated | :05:20. | :05:23.
Winter Olympian ever. He won the ten K biathlon sprint, and earlier, the | :05:24. | :05:29.
fellow Norwegian won her fourth Olympic gold, with the women's 50 | :05:30. | :05:35.
K. She is known as the iron Lady. She got the better of her Swedish | :05:36. | :05:44.
opponent in the closing stages. A gold medal in a new Olympic record. | :05:45. | :05:51.
The flying Dutchman led the way for a Netherlands clean sweep of the | :05:52. | :05:54.
medals. The head of the men's downhill tomorrow, the five-time | :05:55. | :05:57.
Olympic medallist has said that the Sochi twig's pieced is treacherous | :05:58. | :06:06.
and could kill you if you do not pay attention. He was shaken after | :06:07. | :06:09.
seeing his team-mate narrowly escaped a serious crash. We will get | :06:10. | :06:14.
more on that course with Graham Bell, who has gone down it, with a | :06:15. | :06:19.
camera on his helmet. We will ask him about the reaction of the other | :06:20. | :06:24.
big-name skiers. We will concentrate now on luge. We will mind you what | :06:25. | :06:29.
happens. First staged in 1964, it is one of | :06:30. | :07:05.
the fastest and most exciting of the Olympic sports. Similar to skeleton, | :07:06. | :07:09.
the sleds are lightning quick and can reach speeds of 90 mph. With the | :07:10. | :07:15.
sport timed to 1000th of a second, a power. Is crucial. Lucius begin | :07:16. | :07:22.
their burn sat upright, paddling the ice with spiked gloves to build up | :07:23. | :07:27.
speed. Woods in an ever dynamic position, they controlled direction | :07:28. | :07:29.
by manoeuvring their shoulders and legs. The men's and women's singles | :07:30. | :07:35.
competitions are held over two days, with four runs in total. The | :07:36. | :07:44.
lowest overall time wins. Georg hackle dominated in the 90s, with | :07:45. | :07:47.
three consecutive gold medals. This is where the sliding centre | :07:48. | :08:03.
is, in the Mountain Cluster, 40 minutes away. The favourite is the | :08:04. | :08:09.
German, Felix Loch, the former double gold medallist. Armin | :08:10. | :08:14.
Zoeggeler aiming for a place in history, because he would be the | :08:15. | :08:19.
first athlete to win a medal in six different Winter Olympics. No | :08:20. | :08:21.
British competitors involved, but we have our commentary team. | :08:22. | :08:27.
Biochem to the Sanki Sliding Centre. -- welcome. Way above the rest of | :08:28. | :08:38.
the Olympic Village. The first of two runs of the men's luge. The | :08:39. | :08:47.
fifth corner is one of the trickiest. It is an S-bend. The 10th | :08:48. | :08:58.
corner, uphill, and a third uphill sexton -- section. The speeds here, | :08:59. | :09:13.
136.8 kilometres per hour, 85 mph. Having a look at the first | :09:14. | :09:19.
competitor, Dominik Fischnaller, the former World Junior Championship. 20 | :09:20. | :09:24.
years old, this is a big moment in his life. His mental is Armin | :09:25. | :09:32.
Zoeggeler, who will be going later on. It is not a flat spot or a steep | :09:33. | :09:42.
start, somewhere in between. He is going faster than he did in | :09:43. | :09:45.
training, the ice is primed and ready. Dominik Fischnaller flying | :09:46. | :09:53.
down this hill. He looks pretty good so far. That is the first of the | :09:54. | :10:02.
uphill sections. The little widening is the eighth corner, then a big | :10:03. | :10:07.
left-hander. We have seen crash there in the bobsleigh. Corner ten | :10:08. | :10:17.
is the trickiest bit of the track. Through the final two right-handers, | :10:18. | :10:25.
it is not great speed. He has got it up to 135. That is a decent time. | :10:26. | :10:35.
Looking good. A very good run from Dominik Fischnaller. Wolfgang Kindl | :10:36. | :10:42.
is up next. Let's see how many paddles he does. Five. Very close to | :10:43. | :10:52.
the left-hand upright. He gets away well. He is not a big man, one metre | :10:53. | :11:01.
66, 70 kilograms, one of the lightest men in the competition, but | :11:02. | :11:05.
he seems to get good top end speed, which is surprising. He was always | :11:06. | :11:12.
going to be behind Dominik Fischnaller at the start. He has | :11:13. | :11:16.
gone into the lead, he has gone ahead of Dominik Fischnaller. | :11:17. | :11:25.
Wolfgang Kindl is going well. He is flying. Not one touch either side. | :11:26. | :11:32.
Very good. He has pulled it out in the big one, | :11:33. | :11:51.
0.4 faster than training. A bit sloppy at the start, but he is in | :11:52. | :11:56.
the league, a great start. Reinhard Egger next ago. It is interesting | :11:57. | :12:04.
that he has got a face mask with the line on it. That is for his view. If | :12:05. | :12:11.
he can look under the line, he knows his head is right back, it is to | :12:12. | :12:17.
keep aerodynamic form. A good start, he is one of the big surprises from | :12:18. | :12:24.
training, he is a big man, 98 kilos. In luge, the bigger you are, the | :12:25. | :12:29.
faster you fall, you have momentum. He is in the lead. Trying to stay in | :12:30. | :12:35.
the middle, that is the important thing. He is doing it well. He is | :12:36. | :12:43.
losing time over Wolfgang Kindl. Can he stay in front? Still in the lead, | :12:44. | :12:56.
just. Goodness me, even faster than Felix Loch managed in training. | :12:57. | :13:02.
Reinhard Egger has nailed that. That is the fastest run we have seen down | :13:03. | :13:05.
this track ever. That is quite something. The eyes of the Siberian | :13:06. | :13:12.
tiger! The local hero, the Russian hero. Albert Demchenko. This Russian | :13:13. | :13:27.
giant. For so long, he has been top of the leaderboard. He gets away | :13:28. | :13:40.
well. He will take that. He is 42 years old. He will be behind here. | :13:41. | :13:50.
But there is lots of track here. It was almost built for him, this | :13:51. | :13:56.
track, maybe it was! He is an Olympic silver medallist from 2006, | :13:57. | :14:00.
a big hero, and he has gone into the lead. The fastest we have seen so | :14:01. | :14:10.
far. He is flying here. He has increased his lead. He is going | :14:11. | :14:20.
well. 139.1 kilometres per hour, that is phenomenal. 87 mph. A track | :14:21. | :14:30.
record. Look at the margin, almost 0.4 seconds. He has laid down the | :14:31. | :14:34.
law, but his phenomenal. The Russians are enjoying this. There is | :14:35. | :14:41.
only one man in the world who can do better than that, the Olympic | :14:42. | :14:47.
champion himself. Unless Armin Zoeggeler can spin his magic. The | :14:48. | :14:57.
Olympic champion in 2002 and 2006, what can Armin Zoeggeler produce | :14:58. | :15:00.
here? The way goes one of the old man. It could be good. It is good. A | :15:01. | :15:11.
tremendous start from Zoeggeler but has has gone green because it has | :15:12. | :15:16.
been compared to Demchenko who is not a great starter but has put down | :15:17. | :15:20.
a great run so compared to the best so far. Remember, Zoeggeler has won | :15:21. | :15:28.
five medals over the past five Olympics. If he were to do it again | :15:29. | :15:32.
here, he would become the most decorated Olympian of all time | :15:33. | :15:37.
across six games. He is losing time here. | :15:38. | :15:43.
A decent speed and it leaves him in second place, he might be a country | :15:44. | :16:00.
mile behind Demchenko but he is ahead of the rest of the world. That | :16:01. | :16:05.
is true. He must be very disappointed though, and Felix Loch | :16:06. | :16:11.
is the elliptic champion from four years ago. -- the Olympic champion. | :16:12. | :16:19.
What can this rate man do? -- this great man. | :16:20. | :16:25.
He is so tall, long arms and big paddles. And he has gone into the | :16:26. | :16:32.
lead by over six hundredths of a second. He is about six foot four | :16:33. | :16:44.
and a big, bulky man like Demchenko. Demchenko add such good speed. | :16:45. | :16:50.
Demchenko will be sweating just waiting at the bottom but Felix Loch | :16:51. | :16:56.
is flying at the moment, and even quicker than Demchenko. If you can | :16:57. | :17:02.
hold this league, the next bit will be crucial. | :17:03. | :17:10.
Felix Loch is coming through the line now. Look at that, goodness | :17:11. | :17:18.
me, there is his dad, head of the German federation, I have not seen a | :17:19. | :17:24.
face like that for years from him. He was a favourite for the Germans | :17:25. | :17:27.
but not at the moment after the first run, he is behind Demchenko. | :17:28. | :17:45.
22 years old, Peretyagin, hopefully the occasion would overwhelm him. 20 | :17:46. | :17:56.
years younger than Demchenko, the third Russian to get the nod for | :17:57. | :18:00.
this Olympics. Let's not forget the Russians have had a lot of extra | :18:01. | :18:03.
sliding time on this track that others have not had. If the others | :18:04. | :18:09.
have had 30 or 40 runs down the track, they have had about 400 | :18:10. | :18:15.
runs. Put them in good stead. Lots of people have been saying that | :18:16. | :18:19.
Demchenko had this track built for him. In order to win the gold medal. | :18:20. | :18:26.
That is some way away yet but there are lots of people who believe that | :18:27. | :18:33.
Demchenko is destined to win. Age and this speed here. Peretyagin only | :18:34. | :18:42.
half a second behind Demchenko, a massive margin but for the rest of | :18:43. | :18:46.
the world, to third place in the podium behind Zoeggeler, he is | :18:47. | :18:51.
exactly 11 hundredths of a second behind so he is in with a shout here | :18:52. | :18:57.
and in the mix. There are the standings at the moment. Demchenko | :18:58. | :19:05.
ahead of Felix Loch and Zoeggeler, and that is fantastic. | :19:06. | :19:10.
Many thanks to Paul and Colin Bryce, the second run is under way and you | :19:11. | :19:16.
can watch it live on the red button and we will update you later on in | :19:17. | :19:19.
the highlights programme but I want to take you over here because that | :19:20. | :19:24.
beautiful view Dylan McGeouch blue building is the Iceberg Skating | :19:25. | :19:28.
Palace and is home to the figure skating and Sue Barker and Robin | :19:29. | :19:32.
Cousins will stop we have a new competition at the Winter Olympics | :19:33. | :19:35.
this year, called the team competition and not surprisingly, | :19:36. | :19:39.
Russia are among the favourites to win the gold. Let's look at how it | :19:40. | :19:43.
works. The team event is a new addition to | :19:44. | :19:48.
the Olympic Games. Teams are made up of one man, one woman, one pair and | :19:49. | :19:57.
one ice dance couple. As in the other figure skating events, the | :19:58. | :20:00.
competition is split into two segments, a short programme and a | :20:01. | :20:05.
free programme. Ten teams take part in the short programme where each | :20:06. | :20:08.
routine must contain a set list of moves. A panel of nine judges score | :20:09. | :20:17.
on choreography and technique. Their marks are converted into points and | :20:18. | :20:20.
the four scores for each team are added together. The top five teams | :20:21. | :20:26.
from the first segment then qualify for the free programme. That is | :20:27. | :20:29.
where skaters are allowed to show more creative licence. The team with | :20:30. | :20:34.
the most points after the two segments wins gold. | :20:35. | :20:40.
And this is how the standings is looked after the pairs in the men's | :20:41. | :20:46.
short programme, Russia lead with Canada and China completing the | :20:47. | :20:50.
medal places. The USA, surprisingly down in seventh place. We'll now see | :20:51. | :20:53.
highlights from this afternoon's competition, the ice dance and the | :20:54. | :20:58.
women's short programmes and first up are Britain's Penny Coomes and | :20:59. | :21:02.
Nick Buckland. Sue Barker and Robin Cousins describe the action. | :21:03. | :21:10.
Here they are, Penny Coomes, Nicolas Buckland. Doesn't she look | :21:11. | :21:15.
exquisite? Nice through the testing section. -- | :21:16. | :21:22.
twisting. This is a copy what I was just | :21:23. | :22:09.
saying, nice and light and lots of little lifts between the elements | :22:10. | :22:12.
and be jumping, it is nice and tight. | :22:13. | :23:27.
Lovely lightness through the circular steps sequence. This is | :23:28. | :23:31.
pretty special. Very nice, they were so good in | :23:32. | :24:11.
practice, they brought that through to competition with a fantastic | :24:12. | :24:14.
performance, rate reception from the crowd here, well done to Penny and | :24:15. | :24:20.
Nick. Beautiful, nice and smooth, not rushed, everything just slightly | :24:21. | :24:22.
laid-back but exactly on the beat where it needed to be. Good through | :24:23. | :24:31.
the twists, nice timing. Heals up, lovely, lifting so you can see | :24:32. | :24:36.
there's air between the blades on the movement in the footwork. | :24:37. | :24:42.
What will be judges reward them with? One deduction there but | :24:43. | :24:50.
52.93. What do you think the deduction was four, the extended | :24:51. | :24:55.
lead? Possibly in the extended left. It is not obvious that they | :24:56. | :25:00.
try to figure it out but it must be the lift. | :25:01. | :25:04.
Meryl Davis and Charlie White, they have been a powerhouse in ice | :25:05. | :25:12.
dancing, favourites to become the first Americans to win ice dancing | :25:13. | :25:16.
gold, that will be later on in the week. | :25:17. | :25:21.
MUSIC: "I Could Have Danced All Night". | :25:22. | :26:57.
Very nice, the extended twizzle exit. | :26:58. | :28:22.
Oh, yes, indeed! They could have danced all night and we would have | :28:23. | :28:28.
loved watching them carry on. It just was not long enough, beautiful | :28:29. | :28:36.
to watch. Nice light and airy through the step sequence. | :28:37. | :28:43.
Doesn't get deep into the eyes, they don't get down and drive, it's just | :28:44. | :28:52.
schemes, Twizell, one, two is two. It is lovely. | :28:53. | :28:59.
75.98, great technical presentation, wonderful performance | :29:00. | :29:07.
from them. America are back in this team competition. They win this ice | :29:08. | :29:14.
dance, short dance and they win ten points, so that puts the United | :29:15. | :29:18.
States into third place overall behind Canada and Russia. So here | :29:19. | :29:29.
are the scores from the short dance, the Americans first, the Canadian | :29:30. | :29:35.
second and the Russians third. Disappointing for the British | :29:36. | :29:38.
couple, Penny Coomes and Nicolas Buckland, not so much the placement | :29:39. | :29:40.
but more the score. So that win for the USA sees them | :29:41. | :29:49.
jump to third place overall after three events, Russia are still on | :29:50. | :29:52.
top, one point ahead of Canada going into the women's short programme | :29:53. | :29:56.
which will now join starting with Britain's Jenna McCorkell. | :29:57. | :30:01.
So, Jenna McCorkell, she will retire at the end of this season and really | :30:02. | :30:06.
wants to take some happy memories away from here. | :30:07. | :30:28.
She wants the triple flip. Lovely, very nice. | :30:29. | :30:49.
A really nice double axel, very strong. | :30:50. | :32:53.
Well done, Jenna McCorkell! She celebrates, she has done Northern | :32:54. | :33:00.
Ireland proud with that, fantastic. Everything delivered, you can take a | :33:01. | :33:05.
bow, fantastic performance. She is coming from the old school. You can | :33:06. | :33:15.
see that it did not get to a full position. The spin is a level two, | :33:16. | :33:23.
but we have to look at this as an overall picture. She could not have | :33:24. | :33:32.
done it any better. So, the marks. Surely, a season's best. By some | :33:33. | :33:40.
way, we hope. By a long way! A season's best for her, wonderful | :33:41. | :33:45.
scores in the technical and the components cool. Great smiles from | :33:46. | :33:51.
the British camp. They may not play any further part in the team event, | :33:52. | :33:55.
which it can look forward to the ladies event, a super programme, | :33:56. | :34:01.
well done. So many people have been waiting to see this young lady, the | :34:02. | :34:10.
Russian. The European champion, the youngest winner of the European | :34:11. | :34:17.
Championships ever. At the European Championships, things have not gone | :34:18. | :34:21.
well in practice, but for the competition, she delivered, and that | :34:22. | :34:26.
is what makes her a champion. She has youth, fearlessness, and she is | :34:27. | :34:28.
on home ice. Russian champion. A forward inside edge on the | :34:29. | :35:03.
inverted Biellmann. Third jump from steps is a triple | :35:04. | :36:21.
flip. Everybody standing around this | :36:22. | :37:29.
auditorium, 15 years of age, we said she may be a superstar in the | :37:30. | :37:34.
making, but she is a superstar now. Applause from the commentary box, | :37:35. | :37:38.
you do not often see that. From all around us. Super jumps, exquisite | :37:39. | :37:45.
spins, she is a ballerina on the ice. Her first Olympic Games, no | :37:46. | :37:53.
sign of nerves. Her debut year, at her home, at the Olympics, much | :37:54. | :38:06.
pressure? A triple toe loop. The double axel has a terrible take-off, | :38:07. | :38:14.
the leg does not even pass the left leg on the take-off, so that will | :38:15. | :38:23.
not triple axel very easily. There is not much to say about the spins, | :38:24. | :38:25.
because you can see it. The foot is not touching. The right | :38:26. | :38:39.
foot is lifted off the ice to make sure she does not get any | :38:40. | :38:49.
deduction, it is clean. A new season's best, look at those | :38:50. | :38:50.
scores! She can still improve on the | :38:51. | :39:06.
technical. They are the favourites for the gold medal. Now, onto the | :39:07. | :39:15.
ice, the birthday girl, from Italy. She has had two miserable Olympic | :39:16. | :39:23.
experiences, ninth in curing, and this gives her a chance to get used | :39:24. | :39:27.
to the ice. She has changed her routine, who are they the rear, -- | :39:28. | :39:38.
to Ave Maria. She is a beautiful skater to watch, enjoy. | :39:39. | :40:10.
She has got the triple toe loop. Very nice, light and easy. | :40:11. | :40:30.
Absolutely exquisite. She is a skater that oozes class. She may not | :40:31. | :42:40.
be the most consistent on the ice, but when she gets it right, it is | :42:41. | :42:44.
breathtaking, and that piece of music is perfect for her. That is | :42:45. | :42:49.
the best I have seen her skate in a very long time. This loop was | :42:50. | :42:57.
exquisite. Lovely. Really nicely rotated, the double axel does not | :42:58. | :43:05.
normally fly that much, bigger than I have normally seen, a very nice | :43:06. | :43:12.
extension out. They of the Swatch from the Italian team. Yes! A new | :43:13. | :43:21.
season's best, well-deserved. That puts Italy ahead of France, they | :43:22. | :43:29.
will qualify in the top five. Their pairs team will be preparing, they | :43:30. | :43:32.
will be on the ice later today. A beautiful way to end this | :43:33. | :43:33.
competition. The second round gets under way just | :43:34. | :43:40.
after 6:05pm. Yulia Lipnitskaya taking the victory | :43:41. | :43:51.
in the short programme, and Carolina Kostner moved Italy into the final | :43:52. | :43:54.
qualifying spot. Jenna McCorkell finished in 10th place, Redbridge | :43:55. | :43:59.
and did not qualify for the final rounds. We will update this in our | :44:00. | :44:05.
highlights programme, which starts at 7pm. | :44:06. | :44:09.
I have made some friends here. They are over here as medical volunteers. | :44:10. | :44:17.
We are loving Sochi, we went to London, we volunteered there, we had | :44:18. | :44:21.
such a good experience, we thought we would try Russia. Is it better | :44:22. | :44:30.
than you thought's --? Yes, there is no problem with security, the food | :44:31. | :44:33.
is lovely, we are having a great time. The outfits suit you! Thank | :44:34. | :44:40.
you so much, good luck with the rest of the Winter Olympics. Time to head | :44:41. | :44:46.
away from this loud music, for more loud music, and this. | :44:47. | :44:54.
her home, at the Olympics, much pressure? A triple toe loop. It is | :44:55. | :45:17.
fast and furious, combination of speed and style and it happens here | :45:18. | :45:20.
at the freestyle centre, part of the extreme part. A family from Canada | :45:21. | :45:28.
will be hoping to pack the podium, the Russians have always celebrated | :45:29. | :45:35.
the play the three cities Berlin macro sisters by Anton Chekhov but | :45:36. | :45:38.
we have three sisters who are more successful, let's meet them. | :45:39. | :45:43.
COMMENTATOR: Maxine, first of three sisters bidding for a place in the | :45:44. | :45:46.
Olympic final, this is just Dean. This is the meddling sister, Chloe. | :45:47. | :45:56.
It will be busy and loud and could yet be a family affair, we will see, | :45:57. | :46:19.
here's a guide the moguls. A mogul course is made up of a | :46:20. | :46:29.
series of snow bumps on a steep slope. The key to a smooth ride is | :46:30. | :46:34.
to pick your line through the whole course, not focus solely on the next | :46:35. | :46:39.
bump. It is also important to control your speed and get into a | :46:40. | :46:43.
good rhythm. There are two significant jumps on the course and | :46:44. | :46:46.
skiers must perform to different manoeuvres. The jumps account for | :46:47. | :46:54.
25% of the score. Half of the marks are for turning technique, and the | :46:55. | :46:59.
rest of the markets for speed. The top 20 from qualifying make it | :47:00. | :47:00.
through to the final. You need good knees, you really do, | :47:01. | :47:10.
for this sport. It is the women's mogul final and let's head straight | :47:11. | :47:16.
to our commentators will stop, , there is a macro three phases of | :47:17. | :47:25.
this final on this ten metre wide course. | :47:26. | :47:28.
It is a black run, peppered with these moguls or bumps, you would | :47:29. | :47:40.
avoid them if you were skiing recreationally. Over three phases, | :47:41. | :47:47.
20 to start with. They will be whittled down to 12, the 12 best | :47:48. | :47:50.
going through to go again and then six will go through for the medals. | :47:51. | :47:56.
Any score they picked up in the first two rounds are discarded, it | :47:57. | :48:01.
is a fresh canvas for the next two rounds. And here is the line-up, | :48:02. | :48:06.
plenty of Russians, three Australians, two Japanese and three | :48:07. | :48:12.
Americans including Hannah Carney, the defending champion who will be | :48:13. | :48:19.
last to go. And the three sisters, Dufour-Lapointe, just Dean who is | :48:20. | :48:25.
19, and Chloe who is 22. The last time there were three sisters in an | :48:26. | :48:32.
Olympic event was back in 1960 when they competed for France in the | :48:33. | :48:38.
women's slalom. We hope for better luck for the ten two sisters tonight | :48:39. | :48:43.
and judging by recent form, there is every chance that we will see one, | :48:44. | :48:47.
possibly two of them, maybe even three of them on the Olympic podium | :48:48. | :48:50.
tonight. The judges are lined up tonight and it will be one of the | :48:51. | :48:57.
Russians to get things going so a combination of terms, jumps and | :48:58. | :49:04.
speed, the pace time, 30.12 seconds. And the first compulsory click here | :49:05. | :49:08.
you can see, at the top of the course and then the main bulk of the | :49:09. | :49:13.
course between the two jumps, accounting for 50% of the score. 20 | :49:14. | :49:23.
metres wide, 240 metres in length. 20 athletes about to go bidding for | :49:24. | :49:29.
12 places in the second round of the final. Gloves going on for the | :49:30. | :49:38.
Russian, Pertakhiya. She can't help but smile with all the noise below, | :49:39. | :49:44.
the only Italian in the final pacing up and down. They have had a long | :49:45. | :49:50.
wait since the second qualifying round earlier this afternoon but now | :49:51. | :49:55.
in pitch black with the floodlights illuminating this course. | :49:56. | :50:02.
The Olympic final will be opened by Pertakhiya from Russia. She gets the | :50:03. | :50:13.
count under way she goes. Straight into the rhythm of because, nine | :50:14. | :50:19.
turns and before the first kicker, a 300 cc, good landing and back into | :50:20. | :50:20.
the rhythm. She is maintaining control, a | :50:21. | :50:42.
backflip and solid landing, just about recovered, I thought she would | :50:43. | :50:48.
exit through the front door. That could prove costly, the only thing | :50:49. | :50:53.
in her favour is that the jumps only account for 25% of the mark. The | :50:54. | :50:57.
terms which account for 50% were pretty solid. She takes a seat and | :50:58. | :51:01.
is joined by the Russian coach will be busy tonight with three Russians | :51:02. | :51:05.
in this final, this was the first jump, . It will not take along to | :51:06. | :51:13.
re-establish her rhythm. Look at the knees working. The skis needed to be | :51:14. | :51:16.
locked together and they were separated by about a foot at times. | :51:17. | :51:20.
That will not work in her favour. The second job, the backflip. Nice | :51:21. | :51:27.
and straight but then she got pitched forward and she was lucky to | :51:28. | :51:31.
stand and ski away. She might be lucky to make the top 12 who | :51:32. | :51:37.
advanced to the next round of this final of the moguls. Maria | :51:38. | :51:43.
Pertakhiya unlikely to score more than 20 points with that. 17.58. | :51:44. | :51:53.
That will be a long and nervous wait now. | :51:54. | :51:57.
A good crowd here this evening, they are crammed in. We had to the top | :51:58. | :52:04.
for the only Chinese representative in this competition it is the second | :52:05. | :52:15.
is to go, Ning Qin who gets the three, two, one call and she comes | :52:16. | :52:20.
off by curvy little ledge at the top, and she has to recover and a | :52:21. | :52:28.
couple of seconds when she was a passenger there. Rather than being | :52:29. | :52:34.
in full control. Now she is settled but it wasn't at the top, not a | :52:35. | :52:41.
solid enough middle section to put pressure on the best in the world. | :52:42. | :52:48.
It is a full twisting backflip, lands it and skis home and a mixed | :52:49. | :52:54.
bag therefore the Chinese bump skier. Decent aerials, the degree of | :52:55. | :53:00.
difficulty was quite high on second job as well. A full twisting back | :53:01. | :53:08.
somersault. This is the first, 360. It is to be called a helicopter but | :53:09. | :53:14.
a 360 is a fickle it these days. And then it was good and slide -- a 360 | :53:15. | :53:17.
is what they call it these days. The second job, taking her time -- | :53:18. | :53:33.
jump. Full twisting back somersault. And the landing was OK. She lent | :53:34. | :53:38.
slightly over the tales of her skis on touchdown but pretty solid. | :53:39. | :53:43.
She is likely to be under 20 points again for Ning Qin of China. And she | :53:44. | :53:57.
has got 17.26. Only good enough for second at the moment, she will have | :53:58. | :54:00.
to see if that is good enough to see her through to the top 12, I doubt | :54:01. | :54:05.
it. First of the Australians, this is Nicole Parks from New South | :54:06. | :54:11.
Wales. A look of concentration on her face. She has skied cautiously | :54:12. | :54:17.
so far I know is the time to let them go. | :54:18. | :54:25.
She is starting to really accelerate through the money turns, she has got | :54:26. | :54:30.
a good line and she looks good, good work so far from Nicole Parks. | :54:31. | :54:37.
Spectacular skiing from the first of the trio of Australians to go. She | :54:38. | :54:43.
set up for the second jump, full back somersault and home and dry, | :54:44. | :54:50.
that will be good enough for first position provisionally for Nicole | :54:51. | :54:55.
Parks from Australia. Skiing in her first Olympic Winter Games. Things | :54:56. | :55:02.
started pretty well, this was the first jump, 360. There is a little | :55:03. | :55:06.
gap before the moguls reappear, a soft landing which has been softened | :55:07. | :55:11.
even further by the coursework is this evening, these were good | :55:12. | :55:19.
turns. The knees and skis locked together, took back somersault. That | :55:20. | :55:26.
will be good enough for first position for Nicole Parks, surely. | :55:27. | :55:30.
Her coach is looking on in passively. | :55:31. | :55:37.
High marks and low marks from the terms judges discarded, Nicole Parks | :55:38. | :55:45.
takes it away from the Russian, Pertakhiya. We have another | :55:46. | :55:51.
Australian coming, straightaway it is O'Neill from Sydney. Her first | :55:52. | :56:06.
the big aims, -- a place in the top 12 of four stakes -- up for grabs. | :56:07. | :56:24.
Couple of scrappy moments here from Taylah O'Neill, these are good | :56:25. | :56:33.
turns. The skis are locked together like they are glued together and the | :56:34. | :56:36.
knees absorbing thrusting up to the chest as she pummels through the | :56:37. | :56:40.
turns. A back somersault, lands it, the skis and completes. Beyond the | :56:41. | :56:49.
pace time of 30 point 12. Looks like we will have an Australian one, two. | :56:50. | :56:54.
Dufour-Lapointe, the second of the three Australians to go. And the | :56:55. | :56:59.
third of them coming shortly will be Brittany Cox. Slightly unsteady on | :57:00. | :57:08.
landing but managed to regain her balance by the time the moguls | :57:09. | :57:13.
reappeared after this flat section on landing. Slightly off-putting for | :57:14. | :57:18.
the skiers really although it is there because the men will get so | :57:19. | :57:23.
much greater distance and they will fly the entirely of that landing | :57:24. | :57:28.
area and beyond. The men's competition on Monday. That should | :57:29. | :57:32.
be good enough for second place for Taylah O'Neill. And yes, it is, | :57:33. | :57:38.
18.18. So the Aussies are holding first and second. Next to go, the | :57:39. | :57:46.
first of the Americans, Heather McPhie from Park City in Utah. She | :57:47. | :57:56.
just breathes deeply and looks down the hill. | :57:57. | :58:04.
18th last time out in Vancouver. She did well with her first landing, | :58:05. | :58:13.
managed to get back in control and this is solid from Heather McPhie. | :58:14. | :58:19.
Now we are seeing the top skiers go to work here. Beautiful work from | :58:20. | :58:26.
Heather McPhie. A full twisting back, pretty good. 30.24. Quickest | :58:27. | :58:36.
of the lot of the clock and that, I think, will probably be good enough | :58:37. | :58:41.
for the provisional lead. She is happy with that, the American, | :58:42. | :58:45.
Heather McPhie. They have got the defending champion last to go in | :58:46. | :58:54.
this first phase of the women's bumps final. It did not take long, | :58:55. | :58:58.
just absorb the first mogul after landing, the central turns were | :58:59. | :59:05.
great to watch, wonderful control and flair from Heather McPhie and | :59:06. | :59:10.
that will surely be good enough for first position provisionally. Full | :59:11. | :59:17.
twisting back somersault and a little cross of the skis mid-flight | :59:18. | :59:22.
as well, could be the first to break the 20 point mark tonight. And yes | :59:23. | :59:29.
she has, just, 20.05. First position, new leader, Heather McPhie | :59:30. | :59:36.
for the USA. Things warming up nicely here on the Rosa mogul field. | :59:37. | :59:42.
A busy day at the extreme Park with the inaugural men's slopestyle and | :59:43. | :59:46.
now the bumps. A hot ticket to have here. The last of the Australian | :59:47. | :59:52.
trio, Brittany Cox. Clear lenses in her goggles, nine turns before she | :59:53. | :00:01.
hits the first kicker and it is a straight 364 Cox. Right back into | :00:02. | :00:02.
the rhythm. Really enjoying this run, looked | :00:03. | :00:14.
good in the first qualification round earlier. This is even better. | :00:15. | :00:23.
A straight back somersault, full control all the way down, the speed | :00:24. | :00:29.
is good as well. She will be close to Heather McPhie's lead. It will be | :00:30. | :00:33.
first or second, provisionally, at the moment, for the last of the | :00:34. | :00:36.
Australians. He do not want the scheme is coming | :00:37. | :00:50.
off! Lots to enjoy, high, floated 360, pretty straightforward. The | :00:51. | :00:57.
landing was OK. The terms in the central part of the course, they | :00:58. | :01:03.
were generally solid enough, one or two little mistakes. Enough to take | :01:04. | :01:05.
the lead? Possibly. One for the line, as it first or | :01:06. | :01:21.
second? It is first. The top 12 go through to the next phase, and then | :01:22. | :01:27.
the numbers are half a game, six to battle for the medals in the final | :01:28. | :01:28.
stage. Now, from the Czech Republic. She | :01:29. | :01:46.
skied really well earlier today to qualify, I was really impressed by | :01:47. | :01:51.
the way she attacked the course. She has started in a similar vein here. | :01:52. | :02:00.
360 with a spread halfway round. Wonderful confidence, this is | :02:01. | :02:06.
excellent. If she nails the last few terms and the second kicker, this is | :02:07. | :02:12.
surely good enough for the lead in the Olympic final first stage. | :02:13. | :02:16.
Nothing wrong with this Tom at the speed is good as well. As far as I | :02:17. | :02:23.
am concerned, that is surely good enough for first place. The standard | :02:24. | :02:30.
rising all the time. Putting one down here tonight. Spread Eagle | :02:31. | :02:41.
halfway. Back into the rhythm of the course. It is worth seeing again. | :02:42. | :02:48.
Look at how quickly she got back into absorption on landing. Got to | :02:49. | :02:55.
be worthy of a school in the early 20s. Yes, that was really good. No | :02:56. | :03:03.
wonder the courage is pleased. A lot of work to do, because this score | :03:04. | :03:08.
will be discarded for the second stage. She takes it away. A new | :03:09. | :03:24.
leader. Next, the Italian. In her third Olympic Games. She finished | :03:25. | :03:30.
ninth in 2006. She finished 10th in Vancouver 2010. Here we go. She | :03:31. | :03:38.
needs to move it up a notch or two, following her performance in | :03:39. | :03:42.
qualifying earlier. She is a passenger there. She gathers it back | :03:43. | :03:51.
under her control. It looks spectacular for the crowd, but it | :03:52. | :03:55.
will not impress the judges. She is looking pretty confident now. A | :03:56. | :04:04.
backflip of the first, and she skis with the fastest time of the night | :04:05. | :04:10.
so far. Inside the pace time, 30.12 seconds. The first one to go under | :04:11. | :04:19.
30 seconds. A top three place, I would think, certain. One or two | :04:20. | :04:25.
moments with the skis in the middle part of the course, that the judges | :04:26. | :04:30.
would have frowned upon, we will see it here, the flared out right ski. | :04:31. | :04:37.
Packet came. The damage done, how much damage? Top three, surely, | :04:38. | :04:44.
still merited. A chance of progressing through to the group of | :04:45. | :04:51.
12 who will move around to the second stage of the final. Is it | :04:52. | :05:02.
first, second or third? It is third. She will have to sweat it out for a | :05:03. | :05:09.
while yet. Number 19. The next of the Russians. From Moscow | :05:10. | :05:20.
originally. Trying to block out the noise and colours at the bottom of | :05:21. | :05:27.
the course and go to work. She can celebrate later. Now is the time to | :05:28. | :05:35.
focus. 360. A good landing. The best landing we have seen from her so far | :05:36. | :05:45.
today. She is going nicely. Listen to the noise now. She attacks the | :05:46. | :05:51.
bottom part of the course. A backflip. She has hit the deck hard. | :05:52. | :06:01.
That will be that. It is pretty cut-throat, this process, only 12 | :06:02. | :06:07.
will go through, and she will not be one of them. Hopefully, she is OK, | :06:08. | :06:17.
but it will be a lonely time in the kiss and cry area. A 360 of the | :06:18. | :06:24.
first jump, back into the rhythm straightaway. The central terms were | :06:25. | :06:33.
terrific. But then, trouble arrived at the second compulsory kicker. She | :06:34. | :06:38.
went high and round, but too far around, she landed on the tales. | :06:39. | :06:48.
Whiplash. So, the school coming through. | :06:49. | :06:55.
The damage is done. She will be lucky to feature in amongst the top | :06:56. | :07:09.
eight. She is trying to smile through the pain. Heavily penalised | :07:10. | :07:17.
by the finish and Canadian judges, but the Russians get another grow -- | :07:18. | :07:28.
another go straightaway. She gripped the poles. Here we go. She is ready | :07:29. | :07:35.
to go. The best of the Russians currently in seventh place. The | :07:36. | :07:42.
landing is OK. Back into the rhythm. She took a couple of seconds to move | :07:43. | :07:45.
through the bumps, but now she is motoring. This is good. A nice line. | :07:46. | :07:55.
Not too much width with the arms. The second kicker coming. Up she | :07:56. | :08:01.
goes, backflip, down she goes, lands safely. The Russians celebrate | :08:02. | :08:11.
another good run. They can forget about the disappointment suffered by | :08:12. | :08:17.
the previous skier. She has given them something to get excited about. | :08:18. | :08:26.
The leading school belongs to the Czech Republic skier. 21.82. The | :08:27. | :08:34.
Russian will be lucky to beat that, but she might just get in amongst | :08:35. | :08:38.
the top four, maybe the top three places. A score above 20 is | :08:39. | :08:46.
guaranteed. The second jump, straight, moved the knees towards | :08:47. | :08:54.
the body for the second part. It has got to be in the top four. It is | :08:55. | :08:56.
second. With nine to go, she is guaranteed a | :08:57. | :09:08.
place in the next phase of the final. Now, the Canadian attack | :09:09. | :09:16.
begins. We have four Canadians in this final, including the three | :09:17. | :09:22.
sisters. The first of those will come next. First, their compatriot, | :09:23. | :09:31.
from Quebec, Audrey Robichaud. Eighth in 2006, she is back for | :09:32. | :09:36.
another Olympics. Here she goes. She skied beautifully in qualification | :09:37. | :09:41.
on Thursday. A 360, pretty solid, just a little mistake post landing. | :09:42. | :09:46.
But now she seems to have settled. Coming down the centre line. She is | :09:47. | :09:51.
going nicely. Not as fast as we have seen from some will stop the turns | :09:52. | :09:58.
are textbook. She is carving beautifully. It is a backflip, it is | :09:59. | :10:05.
a good landing, it is a good run, it is slow. It is one of the slowest of | :10:06. | :10:10.
the evenings so far. She shakes her head, I am not sure she is happy, | :10:11. | :10:17.
but there were elements to enjoy for Audrey Robichaud. The first of four | :10:18. | :10:20.
Canadians. Here is the first kicker. Leaning | :10:21. | :10:33.
with her right arm, rotating her head to help turn the body through | :10:34. | :10:38.
the 360. Nice turns, nice and relaxed. Audrey Robichaud suddenly | :10:39. | :10:45.
on course for a top five. That will not be enough to guarantee a place | :10:46. | :10:50.
in the next phase of the final. Because we still have eight skiers | :10:51. | :10:58.
to come, including the 360 's. Chloe, Justine and Maxime | :10:59. | :11:04.
Dufour-Lapointe. Audrey Robichaud scoring 20 plus. Top five merited | :11:05. | :11:13.
after that performance. Here we go. Fourth place. She will have to sweat | :11:14. | :11:21.
it out for a while, and hope that some of the others fall over. Now, | :11:22. | :11:29.
the oldest of the three Canadian sisters, this is Maxime | :11:30. | :11:36.
Dufour-Lapointe, 24 years old. She is ready to go. Maxime | :11:37. | :11:45.
Dufour-Lapointe on her way. She qualify directly for her final, like | :11:46. | :11:50.
her sisters, a 360 of the first kicker. This is fast. This is good | :11:51. | :11:59.
work from Maxime Dufour-Lapointe. Not as pretty as Audrey Robichaud in | :12:00. | :12:04.
terms of style, but it is effective. She is fighting her way through the | :12:05. | :12:08.
middle part of the course. Heading towards the second of the kickers. | :12:09. | :12:14.
It is high and far. The landing was OK, the speed is all right. I am not | :12:15. | :12:18.
sure it will be good enough to take the lead, but at the moment, the | :12:19. | :12:23.
target for Maxime Dufour-Lapointe and her sisters is a place in the | :12:24. | :12:27.
top 12 and a position in the second phase of this final. Leading with | :12:28. | :12:36.
her left arm. She went clockwise. Most of them, right-handed, lead | :12:37. | :12:43.
with their right side and go anticlockwise on the 360. Here is | :12:44. | :12:49.
the second one, went quite a long way up and a long way forward, but | :12:50. | :12:54.
she spotted and controlled the landing pretty softly. It is going | :12:55. | :13:00.
to be a score of 20 plus, I am not sure it is going to trouble the top | :13:01. | :13:03.
three at this stage. The oldest of the sisters, she is in fifth place. | :13:04. | :13:17.
A nervous wait for her now. I echo boom aura is next to go for Japan, | :13:18. | :13:24.
and exciting skier to watch. The Japanese skier one in their canola | :13:25. | :13:37.
in 1998. Aiko Uemura, in her fifth Winter Olympics. Yet to win a medal. | :13:38. | :13:50.
This is great skiing. She is taking them on and showing who is boss. | :13:51. | :13:55.
This is fabulous from Aiko Uemura. Absolutely flying through the money | :13:56. | :14:00.
terms. Setting up for the second kicker. The landing is good, the | :14:01. | :14:04.
finish is fast, it is all very good indeed for Aiko Uemura. Fabulous. | :14:05. | :14:13.
She has been seventh, sixth, fifth and fourth in her previous Olympics. | :14:14. | :14:20.
That was the best we have seen tonight. Just missed the start with | :14:21. | :14:26.
her left poll, but she does not stop the time until a couple of feet at | :14:27. | :14:31.
about. She should not be penalised for that. It should not count. It | :14:32. | :14:39.
was not a turn or a jump. To reflect, especially after the first | :14:40. | :14:46.
kicker. Surely it will be a top five. It depends if they decided to | :14:47. | :14:56.
penalised her for the start. It is in fourth place. That is harsh. The | :14:57. | :15:07.
top three hold onto their places. Aiko Uemura in fourth. We move on, | :15:08. | :15:13.
back to the top, for Julia Galer Shiva for Kazakhstan. She qualify | :15:14. | :15:22.
directly for the final. Here we go. 11th four years ago in Vancouver. | :15:23. | :15:34.
She has landed solidly, the skis are tied together. This is good work. -- | :15:35. | :15:45.
tight together. Not as fast as we have seen, skiing a little | :15:46. | :15:49.
cautiously here, I was surprised by the fact she qualified directly for | :15:50. | :15:52.
the final after Thursday's performance. Going for the front | :15:53. | :15:57.
flip and transit, the only skier in the competition tonight to go for | :15:58. | :16:01.
the front flip. The speed is not bad, actually. Just over 30 seconds | :16:02. | :16:06.
so she is not far away from the pace time of 30.12. Let's see what the | :16:07. | :16:11.
judges make of this, both of the aerials were good. That is the first | :16:12. | :16:17.
backflip with an iron Cross. The turns were pretty solid. This got to | :16:18. | :16:26.
be is 21.82. -- the score to beat is. A tough manoeuvre to pull off at | :16:27. | :16:32.
full speed down a moguls course, the front flip, and any sort of course | :16:33. | :16:40.
actually. Kazakhstan coaches and the connections enjoyed that. | :16:41. | :16:47.
How close will then three macro go, close enough for second at the | :16:48. | :16:56.
moment, 21.26 which means she will definitely appear in the next stage | :16:57. | :16:59.
of the final when the top 12 go again. | :17:00. | :17:12.
This is Perrine Laffont, just 15 years of age. The French teenager, | :17:13. | :17:17.
on her way. She slightly over rotated there but | :17:18. | :17:26.
it did not seem to matter because she was able to point their skis | :17:27. | :17:30.
straight towards the first mogul in the middle section of the course. | :17:31. | :17:36.
Nice work here. Nice and loose with the lower body. The upper body is | :17:37. | :17:40.
nice and straight, shoulders and head pointing right down the | :17:41. | :17:46.
mountain, backflip in the second jump a bit scruffy, she is home and | :17:47. | :17:52.
dry. The 15-year-old Perrine Laffont from France is skiing well, I don't | :17:53. | :17:58.
think it will tackle the top 12 scores which are led at the moment I | :17:59. | :18:08.
Sudova and then next is Yulia Galysheva and third is Regina | :18:09. | :18:14.
Rakhimova. Another performance worthy of a score of plus 20, which | :18:15. | :18:21.
way will it go? Slightly over rotated on the first landing and | :18:22. | :18:26.
this was a scruffy-looking second jump for Perrine Laffont. 15 years | :18:27. | :18:33.
old, my word, what a skier she is and what a prospect for the once | :18:34. | :18:38.
mighty French freestyle team. She is there any representative here this | :18:39. | :18:42.
evening. And it is time for Perrine Laffont. With just four to go, four | :18:43. | :18:50.
good ones as well, she is unlikely to be in the next phase of the final | :18:51. | :18:56.
with only the top 12 progressing. And now it is the turn of Eliza | :18:57. | :18:59.
Outtrim. She is ready to progress. She is | :19:00. | :19:01.
from Colorado. Fast and furious at the top, the | :19:02. | :19:13.
first nine turns dealt with in a matter of seconds. Solid white on | :19:14. | :19:19.
the first jump, landed it beautifully. Wonderful skiing here. | :19:20. | :19:25.
She is going about her work in a really relaxed frame of mind here. | :19:26. | :19:29.
Eliza Outtrim from the United States of America, they have got the | :19:30. | :19:33.
defending Olympic champion, Hannah Kearney, to come. She has to land | :19:34. | :19:37.
the second jump, backflip, iron cross, beautiful execution, | :19:38. | :19:41.
wonderful run from Eliza Outtrim. That will push for a top three | :19:42. | :19:44.
position. She barely had a breath and made it | :19:45. | :19:58.
look very straightforward. Floated the 360 around. Beta for landing, | :19:59. | :20:04.
set up the pole plant -- beautiful landing. Going through the rot | :20:05. | :20:10.
between them, in the moguls, absorbing all the impacts | :20:11. | :20:14.
beautifully all the way down. Head and shoulders down the line, that | :20:15. | :20:19.
must be a top three for Eliza Outtrim. A nervous wait for her... | :20:20. | :20:24.
She has got second at the moment and goes through to the second phase of | :20:25. | :20:29.
the final, her medal hopes are still alive. Three to go, the remaining | :20:30. | :20:38.
Dufour-Lapointes and then Hannah Kearney. Justine Dufour-Lapointe | :20:39. | :20:44.
getting ready to go at the top. The youngest of the three at 19 years | :20:45. | :20:47.
old. She is ready to go. Her sister | :20:48. | :21:01.
Maxine is guaranteed a place in the next phase. Justin hit the first | :21:02. | :21:10.
kicker, lands the 360 and then skips through the turns and now she is | :21:11. | :21:14.
skiing correctly, down the centre line, nice and relaxed, explosive | :21:15. | :21:20.
technique from Justine Dufour-Lapointe. Her sister Chloe | :21:21. | :21:23.
will be next and then the defending champion, Hannah Kearney. Justin is | :21:24. | :21:28.
a bit scruffy coming towards the final kicker but straight in her | :21:29. | :21:32.
body beautifully during the second jump and the backflip landed, skis | :21:33. | :21:36.
away in good shape and I would suggest that is enough to take the | :21:37. | :21:42.
second of the three sisters through to the second round of the final. | :21:43. | :21:47.
Nervous moments for all the Canadian team. Sudova leads but Eliza Outtrim | :21:48. | :21:56.
is second, and the Kazakhstan skier is third, Yulia Galysheva. Not the | :21:57. | :22:04.
best run we have ever seen their but it will surely be enough to see her | :22:05. | :22:14.
through to the next phase. Beautiful second jump and straight and true | :22:15. | :22:17.
all the way through, perfect rotation round. Just one of the | :22:18. | :22:24.
sisters to come as Justine goes third for the moment, Sudova leads, | :22:25. | :22:30.
with Eliza Outtrim second, and two to go in round one of the final and | :22:31. | :22:34.
the last of the sisters, can they make it three out of 12 in the next | :22:35. | :22:40.
round? Chloe, the middle sister, is ready to go. | :22:41. | :22:45.
22 years of age, and aggressive start. | :22:46. | :23:02.
She goes through the rhythm of the middle section without any mistake | :23:03. | :23:08.
so far, knees and skis locked together, it is beautiful skiing | :23:09. | :23:14.
from Chloe Dufour-Lapointe. Round she goes with the final jump, home | :23:15. | :23:20.
and dry and that is fast, we will see all three of the Canadian | :23:21. | :23:24.
sisters in the next stage and they will be joined by their team-mate, | :23:25. | :23:34.
as well. The skier in 12 at the moment is the 15-year-old, Perrine | :23:35. | :23:43.
Laffont, if Hannah Kearney does what she can do, she will push them two | :23:44. | :23:49.
at two of the final. -- she will push Perrine Laffont out of the | :23:50. | :23:55.
final. Wet for the score for Chloe Dufour-Lapointe, it has to be good | :23:56. | :24:01.
enough for a top five again. Her sister Justine has scored 21.54. Can | :24:02. | :24:09.
Chloe improve? The second jump backflip with an iron cross and a | :24:10. | :24:16.
sweet landing as well. Third for Chloe Dufour-Lapointe, the sisters | :24:17. | :24:22.
holding third, fourth and 10th, they will all be in round two. One more | :24:23. | :24:27.
to come, the Olympic champion from 2010, no skier has ever successfully | :24:28. | :24:32.
defended their Olympic moguls title, male or female. Hannah Kearney | :24:33. | :24:37.
aiding to become the first to achieve back-to-back Olympic | :24:38. | :24:40.
titles, she won in Vancouver in 2010. | :24:41. | :24:49.
Let's see if it goes according to plan, so far so good for Hannah | :24:50. | :24:56.
Kearney. Not too clever on the landing on the first jump and she | :24:57. | :24:59.
was a passenger for a couple of seconds there but now she is back in | :25:00. | :25:03.
control, not the best we have ever seen from Kearney, she will be | :25:04. | :25:07.
marked down for an errant landing but the little turns are solid. | :25:08. | :25:16.
A threesome and 60 with iron cross on the second jump -- a 360. I don't | :25:17. | :25:27.
think that will be enough to overtake Sudova unless they go on | :25:28. | :25:30.
the protection. The coach looks a bit nonplussed. She will surely make | :25:31. | :25:34.
the best 12 and progress through to the next round but the landing here | :25:35. | :25:40.
was a little shaky. Just got left behind for three terms, four or five | :25:41. | :25:46.
or six even before she was back over her skis and doing the right thing. | :25:47. | :25:52.
The second jump, she went for the grab, the hands going down to the | :25:53. | :25:58.
ski. A touch rather than a grab of the right ski for Hannah Kearney. | :25:59. | :26:06.
360 iron cross grab, , and incomplete grab. She has probably | :26:07. | :26:14.
done enough. The middle section is the part where she needs to work, | :26:15. | :26:18.
that was the discussion with the coach but she is in the next phase, | :26:19. | :26:22.
she skis into seventh position with a score of 20.95. So we know who the | :26:23. | :26:33.
top 12 R. And they include all three of the Dufour-Lapointe sisters based | :26:34. | :26:41.
in Montreal in Canada. A good start to the final, Sudova leads the way, | :26:42. | :26:56.
qualifying along with Liz Outram. -- Eliza Outtrim. These scores are | :26:57. | :27:00.
scrubbed and they start afresh in the second phase. These ten plus two | :27:01. | :27:04.
more, Maxine Dufour-Lapointe and Deborah Scanzio are through, several | :27:05. | :27:17.
will play no further part. It is all set up for an exciting second phase. | :27:18. | :27:23.
Many thanks to Matt Chilton and would be back shortly for the second | :27:24. | :27:29.
part of the moguls final but if you want to watch live figure skating, | :27:30. | :27:32.
press the red button, it is the pairs free routine with Sue Barker | :27:33. | :27:36.
and Robin Cousins giving new commentary on that and that they | :27:37. | :27:39.
get, highlights from the first day in Today at the Games here at seven | :27:40. | :27:44.
o'clock and in that programme we will see the women's moguls gold | :27:45. | :27:48.
medal decided but let's head out there and talk to two men who know | :27:49. | :27:53.
exactly what it is like to perform and in Graham Bell's case, to ski | :27:54. | :27:58.
fast and under pressure and in deadly's case to perform tricks and | :27:59. | :28:02.
all sorts on his snowboard -- in Edgeley's case. This combines both | :28:03. | :28:06.
of those, in the moguls, doesn't it? Yes, the transition ground where you | :28:07. | :28:16.
have much more in the freestyle and Alpine racing because you have got | :28:17. | :28:22.
elements of speed and carving. My brother is a coach and he uses mogul | :28:23. | :28:28.
skiing to test Alpine skiers, he sets them all off and the quickest | :28:29. | :28:33.
ones down the mogul field, kids aged between 8-12 but they go into the | :28:34. | :28:39.
top group. You get a real sense from the side camera in particular how | :28:40. | :28:44.
fast they are going down and I watch it, to be able to ski like that | :28:45. | :28:48.
would be an amazing thing. Talk to me about the my macro sisters. You | :28:49. | :28:57.
competed for a long time on the competition -- about the | :28:58. | :28:59.
Dufour-Lapointe sisters. How helpful as it to be a family together on the | :29:00. | :29:08.
tour? It is definitely useful to have a sibling with you but it is | :29:09. | :29:13.
not like the Alpine triathlon in the Lee McCulloch the Brownlee brothers. | :29:14. | :29:18.
With mogul skiing, the same with Alpine skiing, it is a confidence | :29:19. | :29:22.
thing. If you're sibling does well and you are still stood at the top, | :29:23. | :29:26.
you are thinking, "if they can do it, I can as well" and it is a | :29:27. | :29:31.
confidence thing. And if you get that spiral of confidence, it lifts | :29:32. | :29:43.
you up. Ed, we are seeing good mogul skiing from Kazakhstan, USA, Canada. | :29:44. | :29:48.
What hope is there fraud were to skiers -- what hope is there for | :29:49. | :29:57.
reddish skiers? -- British skiers. You have to go where the snow is, | :29:58. | :30:04.
you cannot learn in doors. Exactly. Jamie was already a visible talent | :30:05. | :30:08.
by the age of 11. We don't have domestic facilities where people can | :30:09. | :30:13.
forge early mogul skills and then move away so they have to move away | :30:14. | :30:16.
early. Ironically, there is one skier, Ben Cavett, Sussex born who | :30:17. | :30:23.
is now 20 and in 2011, he was second in the junior world champions and he | :30:24. | :30:29.
is here in Sochi but he will ski for France, because he took on French | :30:30. | :30:33.
nationality in 2012 and UK sport refused to fund him so we have got a | :30:34. | :30:37.
mogul talent but he is not going to ski for the UK will stop --. Having | :30:38. | :30:45.
watched them all go through and you know that the scores are wiped out | :30:46. | :30:50.
in the second round they start again, what do you see that | :30:51. | :30:56.
impressed you? What's did not impress me was Hannah Kearney's run, | :30:57. | :31:01.
she looked really nervous, she has been much better than that but this | :31:02. | :31:05.
is like a clean slate in the second round, the 12 that come through and | :31:06. | :31:13.
go on to the next round, Kearney made a lot of mistakes. Just after | :31:14. | :31:18.
the landing of the first kicker, she was out of control for about four | :31:19. | :31:22.
bumps and then in the back-seat so sitting on the turns. They account | :31:23. | :31:27.
for 50% of this and they say in mogul skiing, you jump for show but | :31:28. | :31:36.
you turn for though, I borrowed it from golf and it is about carving it | :31:37. | :31:42.
down the runs and having good ski comptroller and having good carving | :31:43. | :31:43.
skills. What is the snow like? Is it a | :31:44. | :31:56.
mixture of real and artificial? It is all artificial, but they break | :31:57. | :32:07.
up the landing after the kickers, so you need something to absorb the | :32:08. | :32:14.
landing. We called them to death cookies, it is actually solid ice. | :32:15. | :32:21.
That puts even more pressure on the knees are. Here we go with his | :32:22. | :32:22.
second run. It has not gone completely according | :32:23. | :32:37.
to plan. She made a mess of the landing on the first kicker. She | :32:38. | :32:39.
seems to have got control. She is across the line with a fast | :32:40. | :32:55.
time. It was probably that fast because, shortly after the first | :32:56. | :33:00.
kicker, she spent a good deal of time out of control, trying to catch | :33:01. | :33:03.
up her skis on the bottom part of the course. She said, I do not think | :33:04. | :33:09.
it is as good as the first run. The first kicker, straight back | :33:10. | :33:16.
somersault. Got tipped over the tales of her ski slightly, she was | :33:17. | :33:20.
fighting for control for a few seconds. | :33:21. | :33:32.
Second kicker pretty solid. Off axis backflip, and back into the groove. | :33:33. | :33:42.
The top 12 going now. Only the six will go further. The six best will | :33:43. | :33:48.
battle for medals. I am not sure if the Italian will be one of them. She | :33:49. | :33:54.
might just hold on, but it is the first of the sisters now, the | :33:55. | :33:59.
oldest, Maxime Dufour-Lapointe, the first to tackle round two of the | :34:00. | :34:05.
final. On her way, Maxime Dufour-Lapointe, the oldest and | :34:06. | :34:08.
tallest of the three. This is a good start. Straight back into the | :34:09. | :34:14.
rhythm, nice work. The best skiing we have seen so far from her, she is | :34:15. | :34:18.
getting better and better with every run. She is ripping it up through | :34:19. | :34:24.
the middle part of the course. She has not put a foot wrong so far, she | :34:25. | :34:31.
has to nail the final kicker. She is a passenger, she has got it back | :34:32. | :34:37.
under control. It is a good time. Just one mistake. One obvious | :34:38. | :34:42.
mistake. The judges will have spotted it. Immediately prior to the | :34:43. | :34:49.
second kicker. Top six required, she is going to be in the top half will | :34:50. | :34:56.
stop --. Leading with her left hand, and spinning clockwise. These were | :34:57. | :35:00.
good turns from Maxime Dufour-Lapointe. Lost control just | :35:01. | :35:10.
to before the second kicker, but bravely took it on. When for the | :35:11. | :35:17.
backflip. Good presence of mind to be able to pull the trick. Not | :35:18. | :35:23.
entering the jump in full control. But it was an obvious mistake, and | :35:24. | :35:26.
it will be scored down by the judges. They have been quite brutal. | :35:27. | :35:33.
That could be the end of the road for the oldest of the three sisters. | :35:34. | :35:38.
She is in trouble of that second kicker. Another Canadian, Audrey | :35:39. | :35:41.
Robichaud. She gets the call, she is on her | :35:42. | :35:52.
way, she skied beautifully on her first run. Second round of the | :35:53. | :35:58.
final. First kicker, 360, lands smartly. If you flex of powder into | :35:59. | :36:10.
her face. The knees go up to her chest, locked together, beautiful | :36:11. | :36:16.
skiing. A wonderful rhythm. This is great to watch. If she holds this | :36:17. | :36:21.
second job, this will surely be enough for the lead. The landing is | :36:22. | :36:26.
good, it is not the quickest, it was not in the first round either. She | :36:27. | :36:31.
apologises to the cameramen for a shower of snow, that is what will | :36:32. | :36:34.
happen if they position themselves their! The school to beat is the | :36:35. | :36:45.
Italian, 20.07. I think Audrey Robichaud has done enough to go | :36:46. | :36:48.
close, she will be second at least. She will be ahead her compatriot | :36:49. | :36:55.
Maxime Dufour-Lapointe. Good turns in the middle. Nice and relaxed, | :36:56. | :37:02.
flowing from turn to turn. Great skills. Look at the height on the | :37:03. | :37:10.
second jump with the iron Cross back scratcher silhouetted against the | :37:11. | :37:15.
night sky. Lots to enjoy from Audrey Robichaud from Canada. That should | :37:16. | :37:25.
be enough for the lead. It is. She raises the bar. 12 involved in the | :37:26. | :37:33.
second round, only six will go for medals. Three of them will be | :37:34. | :37:43.
disappointed. Aiko Uemura now, she has been seventh, sixth, fifth and | :37:44. | :37:48.
fourth in her previous Winter Olympics. 34 years of age. Well done | :37:49. | :37:58.
so far. Some of these turns a bit wide, now she is starting to attack | :37:59. | :38:06.
and let them run. She is in full control all the way down. Her knees | :38:07. | :38:15.
absorbing, her arms moving quickly. Slightly toppled over details of her | :38:16. | :38:21.
skis on landing, but that was fast. Just nine hundredths of a second | :38:22. | :38:27.
outside of pace time. With one Olympic title to celebrate, Japan, | :38:28. | :38:38.
in 1998, Aiko Uemura keeps herself in the hunt for the medals here. It | :38:39. | :38:42.
was not without mistakes. A bit of giant slalom here. Not quite giant | :38:43. | :38:51.
slalom, but wide turns. The school to beat, 20.35, Audrey Robichaud. | :38:52. | :38:57.
The second job was high and controlled. A perfect landing. That | :38:58. | :39:04.
should be good enough for first or second. It is first, new leader. | :39:05. | :39:14.
Aiko Uemura hoping to finish in the top six. | :39:15. | :39:21.
The Australian bid next ago. Three Australians started the final, Cox | :39:22. | :39:33.
the only one to survive to round two. Here she goes. Looking for a | :39:34. | :39:39.
place in the top six and the chance to ski for an Olympic hurdle. Nice | :39:40. | :39:49.
work. Real flair and creativity. Back and head and shoulders solid | :39:50. | :39:54.
and stable, hand moving from Baumber to bump. Good skiing, growing in | :39:55. | :39:59.
confidence, and that was a beautiful backflip. The speed is good as well. | :40:00. | :40:06.
The Australian supporters are happy with what they have seen so far. She | :40:07. | :40:13.
lives in Victoria. Up in the mountains. She did not have a great | :40:14. | :40:25.
season in terms of snow in 2013. But enough for the moguls skier is to | :40:26. | :40:33.
get plenty of training. Now, she is chasing the current leading school, | :40:34. | :40:45.
which belongs to the Japanese, 21.15. She might have done enough to | :40:46. | :40:53.
come close to taking the lead. 21.15, the school to beat. It might | :40:54. | :41:00.
give her a chance of a medal. She is leading. Well done. So, five have | :41:01. | :41:15.
been, there are seven to go. Only six will booth into the final phase | :41:16. | :41:22.
of the contest, and the chance to go for medals. Hannah Kearney is the | :41:23. | :41:27.
next ago, the defending champion. Very poor first final run from | :41:28. | :41:30.
Hannah Kearney. Room for improvement. We expect to see some | :41:31. | :41:36.
here. A nice start, beautiful backflip. A little trouble post | :41:37. | :41:45.
landing of the first kicker. She is fighting for control, she is back | :41:46. | :41:51.
over them now, she has two make the second kicker count. The turns to | :41:52. | :42:04.
beat, 21.59. 360, with a grab. Better, but not her best. | :42:05. | :42:10.
Absolutely, better than her run of ten minutes ago. She has not had | :42:11. | :42:14.
long to recover between the two descents of the course, but it is a | :42:15. | :42:19.
step in the right direction for Hannah Kearney. This was the first | :42:20. | :42:26.
jump. Straightening her arms above her head, then out to the side, then | :42:27. | :42:33.
by her side, the skis were crossed for a couple of seconds post first | :42:34. | :42:41.
kicker. Hannah Kearney needs a place in the top six. Did she get the | :42:42. | :43:01.
grab? Just about. 360 cross grab. The best we have seen on the second | :43:02. | :43:04.
kicker for Hannah Kearney. It was not perfect. It is good enough for | :43:05. | :43:12.
first. She is back in it. Hannah Kearney in first position. Six to | :43:13. | :43:24.
go. Nobody get guaranteed a place in the final phase. The Russian on her | :43:25. | :43:39.
way. Quite a stiff looking start, did not look particularly relaxed. | :43:40. | :43:43.
She has to start to make them work here. It is improving all the time. | :43:44. | :43:52.
The noise level is rising at the foot of the hill. Backflip produced. | :43:53. | :44:02.
A slight wobble on landing, but it is OK. Top three, I would suggest. | :44:03. | :44:18.
A shaky start. She did not relax immediately. She landed OK. These | :44:19. | :44:27.
turns were tight at times. The second jump was well executed. | :44:28. | :44:45.
Straight body. Certainly a score in the 20s. Top three, possibly. She is | :44:46. | :44:52.
forth at the moment. She just loses her smile, there is a nervous wait | :44:53. | :44:58.
to see if she returns as part of the final six. | :44:59. | :45:09.
Next, Yulia Galysheva from Kazakhstan. The world number six on | :45:10. | :45:21.
her way. Nine turns and then the first kicker. She threw that around | :45:22. | :45:30.
fast. This is where her best work is generally done, the middle part of | :45:31. | :45:34.
the course. Her knees are pumping like pistons. She is really letting | :45:35. | :45:40.
it all hang out tonight. Will this be her last run or will she have one | :45:41. | :45:48.
more clack at a medal? She lands sweetly, beautifully done on the | :45:49. | :45:54.
second kicker. The front flip her trademark, the only one of the | :45:55. | :45:58.
finalists to try that move. The Kazakhstan supporters enjoying what | :45:59. | :46:09.
they are seeing. A backflip, a Cross of iron on the first, and a couple | :46:10. | :46:18.
of seconds of incomplete control. But she was back to business by the | :46:19. | :46:22.
time she hit the second kicker. She floated the front flip around. She | :46:23. | :46:32.
deserves a score of 21 plus. Will it be enough to go ahead of Hannah | :46:33. | :46:38.
Kearney? No. It is getting tight up there. There are still some talented | :46:39. | :46:44.
skiers to come, we have got four more to come. She could be bumped | :46:45. | :46:50.
out of the top six by the time the second round of the final is | :46:51. | :46:58.
complete. The second of the sisters, it is just deemed to fall point's | :46:59. | :47:07.
turn. Her sister already out of the third phase of the final. Justine is | :47:08. | :47:17.
on her way. A 360, white back into the rhythm, wasted no time in | :47:18. | :47:26.
settling down. A little flick of the wrist to make the pole plant. Good | :47:27. | :47:34.
control. Just Dufour-Lapointe, her sister Chloe is still to come. The | :47:35. | :47:43.
beautiful second jump, not too many terms at the second kicker, but she | :47:44. | :47:49.
enjoyed it. The cut-off score is 20.35. Audrey Robichaud is in sixth | :47:50. | :47:58.
place, with 20.35. That is the cut-off point at this stage. The | :47:59. | :48:04.
first kicker, a nice 360 from Justine Dufour-Lapointe. Maximum ski | :48:05. | :48:14.
is no contact, carving her way down. Steady and still, with her upper | :48:15. | :48:24.
body, shoulders and head. Mogul skiers have a light hold on their | :48:25. | :48:29.
ski poles. They do not equip them to firmly. That was a great second | :48:30. | :48:35.
jump, practised in the gymnasium, on the Champa Lanes -- on the | :48:36. | :48:41.
trampolines. Second place, she goes through to the next phase. Her | :48:42. | :48:51.
sister Chloe is the next ago. Chloe Dufour-Lapointe, one of the last | :48:52. | :49:00.
three to go in the second phase of the final, when 12 will become sex. | :49:01. | :49:15.
-- six. 360, just like her sisters. Explosive skiing again. Nothing left | :49:16. | :49:26.
behind here. She is laying it all down. Beautiful skiing, good speed | :49:27. | :49:30.
as well, it has got to be a backflip. She lands solidly, one of | :49:31. | :49:36.
the best of the night so far. Chloe Dufour-Lapointe. The middle sister, | :49:37. | :49:47.
22 years of age. We are definitely not having all three of them in the | :49:48. | :49:52.
third round of the final, the oldest sister has missed out, but just been | :49:53. | :49:56.
is already there. She looks set to be joined by Chloe Dufour-Lapointe, | :49:57. | :50:01.
she has had a really good second round run. Wonderful in the middle | :50:02. | :50:06.
part of the course. Just a little twitch with the right ski. The | :50:07. | :50:12.
ecologic is well have spotted it. But it is good enough for a top | :50:13. | :50:25.
three position. A big smile. She is second at the moment, she will | :50:26. | :50:30.
continue on to the medal round. Hannah Kearney lead. | :50:31. | :50:41.
Eliza Outtrim is the next ago. The cut-off point now, a score of 21.12. | :50:42. | :50:53.
Yulia Galysheva is currently in sixth place. | :50:54. | :51:07.
She is tearing through, leaving nothing behind. From Colorado, a | :51:08. | :51:16.
hotbed of freestyle skiing, freestyle snowboarding. Very similar | :51:17. | :51:26.
to the one we just saw from Chloe Dufour-Lapointe. Deserving of a | :51:27. | :51:33.
similar score. Will that put her in the final? | :51:34. | :51:40.
I think it will. Pretty good from top to bottom. The top six at the | :51:41. | :51:49.
moment are Hannah Kearney, the two Dufour-Lapointes, Cox, Yulia | :51:50. | :51:56.
Galysheva and Aiko Uemura, I think we might lose Yulia Galysheva. | :51:57. | :52:02.
Good jumps, wonderful turns. And they are really tightly bunched at | :52:03. | :52:17.
the top now, 21.93, the top score, down to Yulia Galysheva's 21.12. | :52:18. | :52:23.
21.50 fifth for Eliza Outtrim. She has got fifth. And with just one to | :52:24. | :52:30.
come, she is in the final phase. So the last skier to go is Nikola | :52:31. | :52:36.
Sudova, incredibly impressive in the first round of the final. So | :52:37. | :52:41.
relaxed. A joy to see her cruise through the bumps, Sudova is ready | :52:42. | :52:50.
to go again. 31 years old from the Czech Republic, she is away and | :52:51. | :52:52.
skiing beautifully. Her trademark jump on the first | :52:53. | :53:02.
jump, the crowd and the judges like it and these terms are beautifully | :53:03. | :53:06.
executed so far. One little mistake, barely noticeable. | :53:07. | :53:13.
Sudova on a mission here, great skiing, the second kicker, going in | :53:14. | :53:21.
burden, backflip, not totally smooth but a great run. Sudova from the | :53:22. | :53:29.
Czech Republic in sixth at the moment, the Japanese skier Aiko | :53:30. | :53:35.
Uemura will be worried. Her score of 21.15 is the target now for Nikola | :53:36. | :53:43.
Sudova. That is that beautiful 360 when she seemingly stops halfway. | :53:44. | :53:50.
She pulls the spread Eagle, there was a mistake, just one, hardly | :53:51. | :53:56.
noticeable. The skis and knees were locked together, apart from that. | :53:57. | :54:05.
The second jump was a little scruffy and the standard of the second | :54:06. | :54:09.
kicker has been solid here. A bit ropey, this. The backflip and no | :54:10. | :54:19.
real terms afterwards but she skied well. Oh, my goodness, she is out, | :54:20. | :54:25.
Sudova goes no further. She has been treated very harshly there. Sudova | :54:26. | :54:31.
is eliminated, in the second phase. It is pretty cut-throat. She has | :54:32. | :54:34.
skied beautifully but when it matters most, she does not get a | :54:35. | :54:40.
chance to ski for the medals. So we know that the six going through will | :54:41. | :54:44.
be Hannah Kearney, the defending champion, Chloe Dufour-Lapointe, | :54:45. | :54:47.
Justin Dufour-Lapointe, Britteny Cox, Eliza Gudrun and Aiko Uemura | :54:48. | :54:54.
who will be breathing a massive sigh of relief, -- Eliza Outtrim. The | :54:55. | :55:03.
scores are now scrubbed, they go again starting from scratch. The six | :55:04. | :55:09.
going for three available medals. One round to come in the Olympic | :55:10. | :55:15.
women's mogul is final and these are the six who will play no further | :55:16. | :55:16.
part. between four coaches, we will show | :55:17. | :55:32.
you that live and I have moved around the park now, this is called | :55:33. | :55:35.
the Bolshoy and will be the venue for the eye socket as the Games | :55:36. | :55:38.
continue, one of the biggest sport in Russia and they are hoping that | :55:39. | :55:41.
they will win the gold medal although Canada will be trying to | :55:42. | :55:44.
prevent them and USA will have a chance. The highlights programme | :55:45. | :55:49.
every night on BBC Two will give you a chance to see the best of the live | :55:50. | :55:52.
action where that is continuing and catch up on everything that has | :55:53. | :55:55.
happened so far, that is what is coming your way in just about one | :55:56. | :56:00.
minute here on BBC Two, I will also be talking live to the two new stars | :56:01. | :56:05.
of the Winter Olympics as far as Great Britain are concerned, Jamie | :56:06. | :56:07.
Nicholls and Billy Morgan because they have set the social media world | :56:08. | :56:11.
alight with their performances this morning. Jamie Nicholls has been | :56:12. | :56:15.
getting marriage proposals, they are coming to the park to join me and we | :56:16. | :56:18.
will find a nice comfortable and slightly warmer place to store to 's | :56:19. | :56:21.
talk to them. For now, goodbye. The Six Nations | :56:22. | :56:29.
continues on Saturday with Ireland's massive | :56:30. | :56:31.
clash with holders Wales, followed by Scotland against | :56:32. | :56:34.
England in the Calcutta Cup. On Sunday, France | :56:35. | :56:37.
play host to Italy. The Six Nations - our fiercest | :56:38. | :56:40.
rivals are those who are closest. | :56:41. | :56:45. |
