Are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin.

:00:42.:00:59.

Iouri Podladtchikov makes history! A clean sweep by the Dutch! Germany

:01:00.:01:09.

have won everything so far. Russia has a new superstar. The Olympic

:01:10.:01:16.

slalom title at 18! She has done it! A piece of history that will never

:01:17.:01:23.

be forgotten! Great Britain have won the bronze medal! It is gold again

:01:24.:01:27.

for the Lady of Norway! Zubkov is the champion! Well done, really well

:01:28.:01:36.

done! He becomes the greatest Winter Olympics in history! Eyes down!

:01:37.:01:46.

So, here we go, the sun is setting and we're going into the final hours

:01:47.:01:53.

of the 22nd Olympic Games in Sochi and all of the gold medals have been

:01:54.:01:57.

won down here on the coast of the Black Sea and up on the Caucasus

:01:58.:02:02.

mountains. We have seen in the victors and the vanquished united in

:02:03.:02:06.

this sport, and the host nation has finished at the top of the medals

:02:07.:02:10.

table and Britain have added the best ever Winter results, and over

:02:11.:02:14.

the programme we will look back at what happened over the last 16 days

:02:15.:02:20.

before the closing ceremony begins at four o'clock. As well as

:02:21.:02:27.

reviewing all of this sport, there were 12 sports that were brand-new,

:02:28.:02:31.

we will be sharing in, I guess, reflecting the slogan of these

:02:32.:02:36.

Olympics games, hot, hot competition, cool, cool because the

:02:37.:02:40.

climate and yours, because it was not just for them, because it with a

:02:41.:02:44.

game that was for everyone. As the build-up to the closing ceremony, we

:02:45.:02:48.

will also be looking at the daftness, and it is great fun, the

:02:49.:02:53.

daftness of the ice skating gala where everyone lets loose, no

:02:54.:02:57.

judges, no rules, they just go for it. We will also be talking to some

:02:58.:03:00.

of the experts that worked on the programme, and the of them was the

:03:01.:03:07.

only British medallist from Vancouver, it was Amy Williams. If

:03:08.:03:13.

you contrast to Vancouver to this, it was four medals, I know it is not

:03:14.:03:18.

20, but four is a lot of winter medals for a country that has not

:03:19.:03:22.

got a lot of these facilities, how successful was this for the team?

:03:23.:03:29.

Unbelievable. We have got the talent out there, but as you say, a lot of

:03:30.:03:33.

these athletes get no funding, they travel around the world during the

:03:34.:03:39.

winter, three dogs in the summer, they do not have the support of the

:03:40.:03:45.

summer athletes, but we can see with the performance is how much we can

:03:46.:03:51.

bring home more, so bring on the Olympics in four years time and we

:03:52.:03:54.

can top that tally again with the success we have got. How proud you

:03:55.:04:00.

that Lizzy Yarnold was inspired very much by you and the fact that she is

:04:01.:04:04.

carrying the flag, is that three skeleton athletes in a row carrying

:04:05.:04:08.

the flag at the closing ceremony? Yes, that is right, because think

:04:09.:04:13.

get with Shelley Rudman, than myself, and no Lizzy Yarnold. It is

:04:14.:04:17.

great to have a friend that is bringing home the gold medal, and I

:04:18.:04:20.

think it proves there is no reason why we cannot just continue this

:04:21.:04:25.

success and do the same kind of programme that Lizzy Yarnold

:04:26.:04:43.

states, with going for gold, and all of these schemes get the athletes

:04:44.:04:46.

into goals, and she was inspired by me four years ago, how many hundreds

:04:47.:04:48.

of thousands of people will be inspired by watching Lizzy Yarnold

:04:49.:04:51.

and are curlers and everyone else. How many more can we bring on in

:04:52.:04:54.

four years time? The last day of the games is a half-day, a lot of what

:04:55.:04:57.

happens happens in the morning, the Russians had a good start in the 50

:04:58.:04:59.

K freestyle cross-country and Canada won the ice hockey 3-0 against

:05:00.:05:06.

Sweden. We can see Canada getting their gold medal, a, they won in

:05:07.:05:10.

Vancouver in front of their home crowd to make a record 14 gold

:05:11.:05:14.

medals, and they have had another very, very good Winter Olympics

:05:15.:05:19.

games, but they were dominant in the men's ice hockey and many

:05:20.:05:23.

congratulations. But the four man bobsleigh offered an opportunity for

:05:24.:05:26.

Russia because of the one two, three in the cross country skiing, they

:05:27.:05:31.

assured their place at the top of the table, but Alexander Zubkov, he

:05:32.:05:36.

was the pilot for their four, they were the overnight leaders and Great

:05:37.:05:39.

Britain also had a chance of a medal, because going into the final

:05:40.:05:44.

run, John Jackson and his GB or team were in sixth place with GB or two

:05:45.:05:48.

piloted by Lamin Deen in 18th, as this is what happened in that final

:05:49.:05:53.

run. Welcome to the final day of

:05:54.:06:03.

bobsleigh, and what a final day it will be. GB won in striking distance

:06:04.:06:09.

of a bronze medal, but is difficult to look beyond the USA, Latvia and

:06:10.:06:18.

Russia at the moment. Here we go. Their best start time at the moment

:06:19.:06:21.

came right at the beginning of yesterday, and that is better. Great

:06:22.:06:31.

Britain are little bit off the pace, but they are 0.70 seconds off the

:06:32.:06:46.

lead. Great Britain is a force to be reckoned with. Up next, it is Great

:06:47.:06:54.

Britain won, come on, a big start is what you need. A magnificent start,

:06:55.:07:03.

truly world-class. Newly quarter of a second appear, a brilliant slide.

:07:04.:07:13.

-- nearly a quarter of a second up here. The best we have seen so far.

:07:14.:07:24.

That was remarkable. It has been a great race, sometimes being involved

:07:25.:07:30.

in such a close race, it makes it worthwhile and it is enjoyable. This

:07:31.:07:36.

is Russia two, can they get in with the medals?

:07:37.:07:44.

They had two hundredths of a second, they are as started by the Brits

:07:45.:07:53.

also. Great Britain are still in the lead. Have they overcome that starts

:07:54.:08:01.

deficit? Yes, is the answer. I think the Russians will go ahead of Great

:08:02.:08:05.

Britain and are chances of a medal are slipping away here. -- our

:08:06.:08:19.

chances. What can the USA do now? On fire, the Olympic champions, they

:08:20.:08:25.

want to hang on, they do not just want bronze, they want a gold-medal.

:08:26.:08:30.

This is going to be right down to the wire. A tab on the left-hand

:08:31.:08:35.

side. Has he done enough? Yes he has. 0.03 of a second, he absolutely

:08:36.:08:45.

livid. Two crews left to go, the Latvians are up next, can they do

:08:46.:08:54.

it? Dynamite pushing. A just start. 20 800s up on USA one. A new first

:08:55.:09:05.

place, that I am sure. They go into the lead, 0.03 of a second in the

:09:06.:09:10.

lead at the moment, and they have got it. John James Jackson and his

:09:11.:09:17.

crew... Here is the crew about to push with a gold-medal. Zubkov and

:09:18.:09:24.

his team, they have already won the two man. Here they go for the double

:09:25.:09:33.

entry history. A lovely little corrections steer. You can see the

:09:34.:09:39.

front runners twitching to avoid a top. This could be the gold medal

:09:40.:09:43.

winning performance. It looks like Russia is on for it. And it is

:09:44.:09:47.

Russia who have won the gold medal in the four man bobsleigh! This man,

:09:48.:09:52.

Alexander Zubkov, he is absolutely fantastic!

:09:53.:09:58.

I was watching it on Russian television, you can imagine the

:09:59.:10:03.

reaction of the Russian commentators, Alexander Dorozhko of

:10:04.:10:06.

who was persuaded out of retirement by President Putin, he has won two

:10:07.:10:12.

medals on the bobsleigh track, and he used to be a taxi driver, a taxi

:10:13.:10:17.

driver who would not hang around! If we look at how great John Jackson

:10:18.:10:24.

was, he has got you, he could not walk a few weeks ago! Yes, he had an

:10:25.:10:27.

Achilles tendon problem, he had pioneering surgery. The whole team

:10:28.:10:33.

joins together, they are such a unit. All of the teams, the other

:10:34.:10:37.

nations, they have noticed it, they've said, what is up with the

:10:38.:10:41.

boys, they do so well, they are pushed so hard, and to come in

:10:42.:10:47.

fifth, they are bowled over by this whole experience and what they

:10:48.:10:50.

managed to achieve. I think that shows you that is hard work and what

:10:51.:10:55.

they put into it behind-the-scenes. Do you think if they had been able

:10:56.:10:59.

to get more world ranking points of John Jackson had been fit throughout

:11:00.:11:03.

the season, they would have started in a different position, which is

:11:04.:11:07.

crucial, because they were 12th after that? Yes, it 12th world

:11:08.:11:14.

ranking, that is the start of four-year Olympic ranking, it is

:11:15.:11:18.

part of the sport, you all know that the conditions can change, it was a

:11:19.:11:22.

warm day, they kept a lot of the covers down which heated up the ice

:11:23.:11:28.

a little bit. But the run, when they go down, it deteriorates a little

:11:29.:11:34.

bit. But for Jacko, he would not been dealing with that, because you

:11:35.:11:38.

cannot control it, so considering that they pushed really well in

:11:39.:11:43.

those top bushes and actually, I think his four runs but so

:11:44.:11:47.

consistent, he was so consistent each time, that last run was one of

:11:48.:11:52.

the fastest out of the competition. -- those top bushes. The four of

:11:53.:11:59.

them are on a really great package altogether. Very nearly a fifth

:12:00.:12:05.

medal for Great Britain, but let us look at the final medal table and

:12:06.:12:10.

Russia, having had a very slow start hit the front yesterday and extended

:12:11.:12:12.

their lead over Norway today. Canada owning the podium in

:12:13.:12:27.

Vancouver and Russia have ruled the rostrum here in Sochi, and also,

:12:28.:12:32.

Norway very strong and Canada had a good games again, and the United

:12:33.:12:36.

States, it was OK for them, a few they will feel are missing, and the

:12:37.:12:40.

Netherlands was so strong in speed skating and they are right up there

:12:41.:12:46.

and Great Britain finishing in 19 position, thanks to these people.

:12:47.:12:58.

Every single on the position -- podium has been filled and many of

:12:59.:13:05.

them will be here for the closing ceremony. Lizzy Yarnold has come

:13:06.:13:10.

back, she is carrying the flag and the curlers will also be there. Last

:13:11.:13:16.

night had something special, no medals at stake and no judges but

:13:17.:13:20.

the ice caters like to round off by just getting out there and having a

:13:21.:13:25.

blast. Some of the routines are serious and some are just daft! Nick

:13:26.:13:31.

Buckland and Penny Coomes joined Sue Barker.

:13:32.:13:38.

This is the Gaelic getting underway. -- Galer. -- gala.

:13:39.:15:20.

It does not matter today. No judges, just enjoy it. That was the first

:15:21.:15:32.

time she had jumped! I had not noticed because skating was just so

:15:33.:15:33.

beautiful. -- her skating. Well, she has certainly made us

:15:34.:17:05.

smile! That was Mao Asada. And what might have been such a motion at the

:17:06.:17:10.

end of her free programme, she burst into tears because she wanted to

:17:11.:17:13.

give one last great performance, she had the silver medal four years ago

:17:14.:17:18.

and was sold as appointed after the short gram and all of that emotion

:17:19.:17:22.

just flooded out. But she nailed that programme. And she was under

:17:23.:17:27.

such pressure, the mark of a true champion to be able to come out and

:17:28.:17:32.

do that. She was criticised by the Federation because they were

:17:33.:17:36.

desperate for her to be on the podium. Here comes their

:17:37.:18:40.

combination, I think. There we are. One of the lasting memories. They

:18:41.:18:55.

have always had strong skills. And this season they have really pushed

:18:56.:18:58.

the boundaries. They have come up with exciting things. And they have

:18:59.:19:01.

done a great job. She is the face of Pantene here in

:19:02.:19:38.

Russia as well, I have seen all of those posters.

:19:39.:21:17.

Wasn't that nice as well? And they walk away from this Olympic Games

:21:18.:21:24.

with a gold medal and a bronze medal. So much to be proud of. These

:21:25.:21:36.

are going to be the two athletes that will be challenging. Yes, the

:21:37.:21:45.

ones for the future. Do you follow what they do and see what they be

:21:46.:21:52.

forming? I think, throughout the season, we always watch the

:21:53.:21:56.

performances at other competitions, just to see what our competitors are

:21:57.:22:01.

up to. I definitely recognise some pieces of the exhibition from their

:22:02.:22:13.

free dance. Some of the lifts. They won gold in the team event. That was

:22:14.:24:12.

hard music to skate two. -- to. The crowd always likes something

:24:13.:24:38.

lively that they can get behind. Yes, they like to get involved! And

:24:39.:24:42.

they love to see elements, just like that.

:24:43.:25:12.

Well, what a wonderful Olympic Games they have had, silver and gold. And

:25:13.:25:22.

we will see the gold medallist, Maxim Trankov, in the second half of

:25:23.:25:27.

this. They will be the last people to skate. 12,000 people here in this

:25:28.:25:34.

arena and the Russian skaters, needless to say, getting a huge

:25:35.:25:39.

ovation. And very nice that they are still trying those difficult moves,

:25:40.:25:45.

even though we see they can relax. Pulling out all of the stops. With

:25:46.:26:03.

music from Rolling Stones. She has been European champion so times.

:26:04.:26:11.

Carolina Kostner. And I am sure this will be very special.

:26:12.:27:07.

Very young, we should look better and how she the programme. Her

:27:08.:27:16.

component marks were absolutely huge. So expressive on the ice. --

:27:17.:27:26.

we should look at her. She was absolutely captivating. This

:27:27.:27:41.

is figure skating at its best. She has not put a foot wrong Seoul

:27:42.:29:21.

Olympics games, and this has been no different. -- this whole Olympic

:29:22.:29:32.

Games. Absolutely. It would be hard to beat that today here in this

:29:33.:29:39.

beautiful gala. She has done it all, world champion, European champion,

:29:40.:29:42.

now she has been on the Olympic podium, and that is what she wanted

:29:43.:29:47.

more than anything with her third attempt, and she will say goodbye at

:29:48.:29:52.

the end of this season, and boy, she has been a joy to watch over the

:29:53.:29:56.

years, and lovely to see her at her best here in Sochi.

:29:57.:30:05.

The grace and the beauty is second to none when she is on the ice. She

:30:06.:30:14.

is absolutely gorgeous, you cannot take your eyes off her. Next, this

:30:15.:30:26.

skater really let -- lit up this event.

:30:27.:31:47.

She makes those triple jumps look so easy. And I saw footage of from the

:31:48.:31:56.

age of ten landing triple jumps right the way through. She has been

:31:57.:32:01.

an amazing skater. Maybe felt a few nerves in the ladies Championships,

:32:02.:32:08.

but she looks rock-solid tonight. She has still got a lot of

:32:09.:32:12.

developments to do in terms of skating skills, still has got a lot

:32:13.:32:16.

of room to grow, so the next few years, we will see some special

:32:17.:32:21.

performances from this young girl. That is definitely something to look

:32:22.:32:23.

forward to. That is her trademark Spain. She can

:32:24.:33:20.

hold it for as long as she likes, she has got no time limit for this

:33:21.:33:28.

programme. -- that is her trademark spin.

:33:29.:33:45.

That is flexibility for you, and what a wonderful way to start this

:33:46.:33:52.

Olympic gala. All of the talk earlier on about the return of

:33:53.:33:59.

Yevgeny Pleshenko, but this girl is still the show, and electrifying

:34:00.:34:05.

performances. As we hear from Nick and Penny, she is one to watch, just

:34:06.:34:11.

15 years of age, another four years, the next Olympics, she will

:34:12.:34:18.

be heading for the gold medal. You can tell by the way that she carries

:34:19.:34:22.

herself on the eyes, she is very disciplined. -- carries herself on

:34:23.:34:27.

the ice rink. She has an amazing presence, the

:34:28.:34:36.

home crowd really enjoyed that, but we will bring you more highlights

:34:37.:34:40.

shortly, first, these are the scenes live in the Caucasus Mountains,

:34:41.:34:43.

earlier you saw the Caucasus Mountains, earlier use Saudi fished

:34:44.:34:51.

stadium where they are getting ready for the closing ceremony. -- earlier

:34:52.:34:55.

you Saudi Olympic Stadium Ribera getting ready. It will be converted

:34:56.:34:59.

into a football stadium, and this park will contain part of the

:35:00.:35:03.

Formula one track that will be here for the first-ever Russian Grand

:35:04.:35:07.

Prix in October, but the crowds are pouring in for the last time in

:35:08.:35:11.

terms of the Winter Olympics. If you think of the fears that people had

:35:12.:35:15.

coming here, the concerns about the host nation and that the athletes

:35:16.:35:18.

had that maybe things would not be quite as they had known. Well,

:35:19.:35:28.

Matthew Pinsent has been part of the team and you have been to ten

:35:29.:35:31.

Olympics, winter and summer, and what do you think about what you

:35:32.:35:33.

imagined it would be like and the reality of it? Yes, absolutely,

:35:34.:35:40.

there were worries about the logistics of putting it on, they

:35:41.:35:43.

spent billions of dollars on this, and I think there was a question

:35:44.:35:49.

about work and that money have gone with Mac how is it going to last?

:35:50.:35:53.

What is the legacy? But the experience of it all, the experience

:35:54.:36:02.

of being here. He will find his mate in a moment! Yes, the events have

:36:03.:36:07.

been stunning, the offence on the mountains, the weather has played

:36:08.:36:14.

ball, I think it is a big tick. -- the events on the mountains. These

:36:15.:36:21.

were concerns that this would be the opportunity for a President Putin to

:36:22.:36:24.

start the personal ethos honest, I am not sure that we have seen a lot

:36:25.:36:30.

of him, he has been to some event, the ice hockey did not work out as

:36:31.:36:35.

well as he helped, but the sport proving that it cannot be predicted

:36:36.:36:38.

and it cannot be used for political means. It was very interesting, the

:36:39.:36:46.

opening ceremony, when the IOC president said, do not use this as a

:36:47.:36:50.

pedestal for political manoeuvring, and I think broadly, the Russians

:36:51.:36:54.

have agreed to that, or certainly towed that line, as you say. Badaber

:36:55.:36:58.

Putin was certainly in evidence, but I do not think that he was

:36:59.:37:07.

grandstanding. -- President Putin. There was a rumour that he went to

:37:08.:37:11.

the bobsleigh, I did not CM, he might have been there. If we can

:37:12.:37:16.

imagine it, for the London Olympics, our Prime Minister was all

:37:17.:37:20.

over that a lot more than President Putin has been here, so we cannot be

:37:21.:37:24.

that judgemental about what he has done. The other issue has been drugs

:37:25.:37:27.

testing, six athletes tested positive today, do you think that

:37:28.:37:32.

the balance is changing? In the past, it was always the case that

:37:33.:37:35.

the cheaters were ahead of the testers. That was always the rumour.

:37:36.:37:43.

Do you think the testers are catching up? Well, by their very

:37:44.:37:49.

nature, the cheaters are invisible. I have been of the opinion that

:37:50.:37:52.

catching people is the good thing, even at the games having positive

:37:53.:37:57.

testing at high profile, that is a good thing. I think the testing is

:37:58.:38:02.

getting better. It is very difficult to say what the gap is. It's depends

:38:03.:38:06.

on budgets, if you look at the budget for Lance Armstrong, he was

:38:07.:38:10.

only an Olympic athlete for a tiny part of his career, but people with

:38:11.:38:14.

money to spend will usually find a way around and the saving grace

:38:15.:38:17.

again usually for Libby Catholics, is that they do not have a budget.

:38:18.:38:35.

There is not a standard. -- saving grace, usually for Olympic athletes.

:38:36.:38:43.

You cannot say. , sport is clean, that is that the idea that we were

:38:44.:38:50.

aiming for. Transport is normally a worry for athletes and people

:38:51.:38:55.

working in the games, that has been fantastic year, they invested in the

:38:56.:38:58.

road going up to the mountains which made it much more accessible than we

:38:59.:39:02.

have known in the past. You have been up and stand today. And unlike

:39:03.:39:08.

a normal Olympic city, normally you have the city downloader for the

:39:09.:39:13.

main venues, and then you have the mountains up-other events, but they

:39:14.:39:22.

are so closer here. And security slows people down, but they seem to

:39:23.:39:27.

be very efficient, I know they have a wall of steel, there are war ships

:39:28.:39:33.

out in the Black Sea, there are security, Army people up the

:39:34.:39:37.

mountains. They obviously were massively concerned about security.

:39:38.:39:43.

You're not securing a city which is a challenge in itself, like we were

:39:44.:39:47.

trying to do in London, in a Winter Olympics city, you have got

:39:48.:39:51.

thousands of acres to protect. They worried about people coming over the

:39:52.:39:55.

hills, and that was very difficult for them. But thankfully, there has

:39:56.:40:01.

been barely a flicker of that, and long may that last. We will be

:40:02.:40:05.

talking to Graham Bell and Ed Leigh shortly, but we're going to take you

:40:06.:40:10.

back now to the ice skating Gala and enjoy more of those routines in the

:40:11.:40:15.

company of Britain's number one ice dancing Koppel, Nick Buckland and

:40:16.:40:19.

Penny Coomes and also Sue Barker. -- ice dancing Coppell.

:40:20.:40:33.

This pair, they love to entertain, this is perfect for them.

:40:34.:41:09.

The crowd are clapping along already.

:41:10.:41:42.

They have chosen this music to say that they have had the time of their

:41:43.:42:08.

life dancing over the years, and they have loved it. They have

:42:09.:42:12.

innovative programmes and always deliver personality.

:42:13.:43:50.

Absolutely lovely. That is the way to do it in this gala. That is what

:43:51.:43:59.

the crowd has come here to see. They have always offered something

:44:00.:44:02.

different over the years and they have decided to call it a day. But,

:44:03.:44:07.

Nathalie Pechalat, it has been lovely watching you. So many

:44:08.:44:13.

different moods, spanning the old and the new system and making it

:44:14.:44:16.

work in both. Great champions over the years. Not only podium but so

:44:17.:44:24.

much to be proud of. They always offer something different to watch.

:44:25.:44:29.

That was really nice tonight. Such a nice routine. And those words meant

:44:30.:44:37.

a lot to them. They have had the time of their lives. Enjoying their

:44:38.:44:40.

skating over the years. Great champions. One of the most popular

:44:41.:44:46.

skaters. Fernandez. You can see why he is one of the

:44:47.:45:27.

favourites! Here's just fantastic! He is going to make himself busy! --

:45:28.:45:41.

dizzy. That is how to deliver a show! That

:45:42.:47:45.

is the best performance of the night. He had the crowd in his hand

:47:46.:47:52.

all the way through. So entertaining, Javier Fernandez. Such

:47:53.:47:58.

a disappointing Olympics for him, he was third after the short programme

:47:59.:48:01.

but he finished fourth. Great just to hear how popular he is. He has

:48:02.:48:07.

won the European Championships twice and I am sure he will be on the

:48:08.:48:12.

podium again soon. It has been disappointing for him but just look

:48:13.:48:17.

at how much he is progressing and he has moved up the ranks. Overall, he

:48:18.:48:21.

should be really pleased with himself. He has got plenty of time

:48:22.:48:26.

ahead of him. Even a medal at the next Olympic Games.

:48:27.:48:38.

The Queen, as she is known. So much controversy when she got the silver

:48:39.:49:26.

medal. And that rumbles on and on. # IMAGINE. She has certainly left her

:49:27.:49:37.

mark on figure skating and watching this, you can certainly see why.

:49:38.:51:42.

Well, another mesmerising performance from Kim Yuna. She might

:51:43.:51:53.

be taking home silver, but for many people watching that flawless

:51:54.:51:58.

programme, they gave her the gold and that controversy will rumble on.

:51:59.:52:02.

But she has a gold medal from four years ago. And she has been the

:52:03.:52:07.

greatest ladies cater for many years. It was great that she came

:52:08.:52:11.

back to compete one more time. It was not the medal she came for but

:52:12.:52:16.

she has certainly given us some lasting memories. And beautiful

:52:17.:52:21.

routines. That was an effortless quality. In everything she does on

:52:22.:52:31.

the ice. Next, two of the most pop skaters. Tessa Virtue and Scott

:52:32.:52:58.

Moir. They have been a huge inspiration to Penny Coomes and

:52:59.:53:01.

myself. You can just see the chemistry. They are certainly worth

:53:02.:53:06.

the Olympics over medallists. And the champions from Vancouver. --

:53:07.:53:20.

were the Olympic silver medallists. They have such a different style.

:53:21.:53:25.

Something so delicate, absolutely. They have the ability to draw you

:53:26.:54:49.

end with such simple movements. You cannot take your eyes off them, and

:54:50.:54:55.

they are not doing such difficult steps.

:54:56.:55:08.

They tell a story and they create their own little bubble and the

:55:09.:55:15.

passion between them just draws you in. And you are just mesmerised by

:55:16.:55:18.

their connection. There are beautiful routine in

:55:19.:55:55.

Vancouver will never be forgotten and after winning silver, Scott went

:55:56.:55:59.

back onto the ice afterwards and he kissed the Olympic rings. That was

:56:00.:56:05.

like saying goodbye. And we will be very sorry to see them going. Great

:56:06.:56:10.

chemistry, great quality in their skating always.

:56:11.:56:27.

Be forgotten Russian skater one week ago. She claimed the gold medal in

:56:28.:56:31.

the ladies Championship. She skated right before us in the

:56:32.:56:56.

European Championships and this is a very nice routine she has got.

:56:57.:58:26.

I am not sure that was supposed to happen, but she is improvising.

:58:27.:58:41.

It is nice that this programme has two parts to it, so at first, we see

:58:42.:58:48.

her with the silk creating some beautiful touches. And now, she's

:58:49.:58:56.

going to show offers -- of her skating skills as well.

:58:57.:00:00.

A lovely routine, and what she has shown a searing Suchy, she is

:00:01.:00:05.

athletic, she is super cool under pressure. And she made history being

:00:06.:00:12.

the first woman to win the ladies championship. They have been so

:00:13.:00:16.

dominant in all the other disciplines but never won the

:00:17.:00:21.

ladies, and she has done that here. She has been celebrated here by the

:00:22.:00:25.

crowds. So many flowers and cuddly toys being thrown onto the ice rink

:00:26.:00:28.

to say well done, we're proud of you. CHEERING

:00:29.:00:38.

That was a lovely farewell to Suchy from the Olympic champion. --

:00:39.:00:42.

farewell to this sliding crew finished fifth up

:00:43.:00:59.

at the Sanki Sliding Center, Jacko, it is incredible that you are back

:01:00.:01:04.

and fit and healthy, but how do you reflect on that performance? Is it

:01:05.:01:10.

great, or is it oh, so close? For the team, it is a great performance,

:01:11.:01:15.

we gelled and worked well as a team, and we almost got a medal, but we're

:01:16.:01:26.

disappointed at all. We put in a good performance for Great Britain.

:01:27.:01:28.

Ruse, how much admiration do you have for this pilot and how well did

:01:29.:01:34.

the team work together? Absolutely, it is testament to his dedication

:01:35.:01:37.

and his rehab that we are all here today, and it is just incredible. We

:01:38.:01:45.

were or appearance to Jacko. What was it like, with the Russians in

:01:46.:01:48.

front, it must have been manic with the crowd? It was, it was very

:01:49.:01:56.

loud, I missed the queue to get into the start position because of the

:01:57.:01:59.

noise, but luckily, I was saved and I managed to start really well. That

:02:00.:02:06.

is what he does! And much of a pleasure has it been in getting out

:02:07.:02:12.

there and racing? By far, the best thing I have ever done in my life, I

:02:13.:02:16.

am so happy to be here with my crew and we have done so far, so many

:02:17.:02:24.

people helped us to get here. What happens now, do you go back and race

:02:25.:02:30.

again soon or do you have a break? Myself and John have the

:02:31.:02:33.

inter-services military competition that we will compete in, but then we

:02:34.:02:39.

will have a break. You're getting better and stronger and in the end,

:02:40.:02:43.

you were very close to a medal, that final run was right up there, do you

:02:44.:02:48.

think you can build on this for 2018? You thinking four years ahead

:02:49.:02:54.

or are you thinking, oh, God is no more? ! I am thinking year by year,

:02:55.:02:59.

one or two years ahead I would like to stay in the sport, but I need to

:03:00.:03:05.

pass on the rings to Bruce or one of the other guys here, so 2018, that

:03:06.:03:09.

would be for one of these guys, if I am still here in 2018, then bruises

:03:10.:03:16.

and is doing his job! -- then Bruce is not doing his job! You would like

:03:17.:03:21.

to see more young people come through? Yes, I would like to stay

:03:22.:03:26.

for a few years to bring more funding in and to help with the

:03:27.:03:29.

development, but at some point, I have got to pass it over and

:03:30.:03:32.

hopefully these guys will do the job. To rhetoric watching you, so

:03:33.:03:40.

exciting, congratulations, and specifically, Jacko, congratulations

:03:41.:03:44.

are coming back after a serious injury! -- to rhetoric watching you.

:03:45.:03:51.

Now, I wonder how the games have looked from afar, here is a review

:03:52.:03:52.

from Eddie Butler. Suchy, so Olympic Lee temperature

:03:53.:04:31.

control at its finest. As these first Winter games in

:04:32.:04:51.

Russia, being first wasn't what it seemed. To be the first champion is

:04:52.:05:01.

Olympic immortality. A first for Slopestyle, being the first to get

:05:02.:05:08.

on the rails. A fantastic finish to a fantastic day. A first for the

:05:09.:05:15.

women who do not twist and turn and cut the air with their skis as

:05:16.:05:19.

knives, but to float on turning boards as cushion. This will never,

:05:20.:05:30.

never be forgotten. And floating men also, so how much drama and grace of

:05:31.:05:39.

this. From Belarus, the highest mountain is just over 1100 feet

:05:40.:05:45.

high, 1100 feet on which to rehearse the aerial excellence. In the

:05:46.:05:52.

halfpipe, one American stood not just for excellence but for

:05:53.:05:58.

supremacy. He was his sport. But not here. Oh, no, Shaun White is human

:05:59.:06:08.

after all. It became a trend, the surprise winner. The husband and

:06:09.:06:21.

wife double medal combination. Can he steal the gold from Miller? Yes

:06:22.:06:26.

he can! Was a time when the Nordic nations frowned on alpine

:06:27.:06:37.

frivolity. In Nordic skiing, it is all about distance and then more

:06:38.:06:44.

distance. But the Norwegians still go the extra mile, but they seem to

:06:45.:06:49.

have embraced the emotions of one man. The are Lady, lovingly turning

wonderfully to last place. There are still a place with those that do not

:07:25.:07:29.

sit on top of the leaderboard. There is always appreciation for those who

:07:30.:07:34.

do not sit on the winner 's heels. But nothing beats the Olympian who

:07:35.:07:43.

will not be beaten. The tight finishers of the Olympics. These

:07:44.:07:54.

last gasp effort raised the temperature so high that all of the

:07:55.:08:04.

icy conditions girlie men -- the icy conditions nearly melted.

:08:05.:08:12.

Wonder. Four. Lots more later in the programme. The sunshine has left,

:08:13.:08:23.

all of the lights are coming on in the Olympic Park as we are building

:08:24.:08:27.

towards the closing ceremony which starts at 4pm. Eddie mentioned the

:08:28.:08:31.

young sportsmen, there were 12 deadly sports here, but it was a

:08:37.:08:39.

its first medal. Jenny Jones has been winning X Games titles for the

:08:40.:08:42.

past decade to little or no acclaim at home, but this time, she got a

chance, a shot at an Olympic medal, and when she won it, the whole of
