Welcome back. That is if you were watching on BBC Two. If you are new

:00:40.:00:52.

to us, good afternoon. It is a bit overcast here. There is nothing dull

:00:53.:01:02.

about what is happening in the Ice Cube curling centre. It is a crucial

:01:03.:01:06.

match for the British team who had he makes day yesterday, winning

:01:07.:01:12.

against Russia and losing against Sweden.

:01:13.:01:25.

It has improved since you are with us a few minutes ago. We were 5-3

:01:26.:01:34.

down, but a mistake from the man who has been playing so well for Germany

:01:35.:01:41.

gave David Murdoch the opportunity to take the two and square the match

:01:42.:01:50.

at 5-5. That is a real bonus for the British team. Felix Schulze had been

:01:51.:02:03.

playing well up until that point. Dave Murdoch played a blinder. That

:02:04.:02:23.

gave him the opportunity to take his two and tie the game. It is amazing,

:02:24.:02:38.

it can be an odd shot. That will have raised their shoulders.

:02:39.:02:43.

Sometimes it takes one little change in the end and the control will flip

:02:44.:02:52.

to the other side. This has been a tight match and it is a match in

:02:53.:03:00.

which Germany have the last stone advantage. Germany shooting 79%,

:03:01.:03:13.

Britain 78%. The boys have been putting a lot of pressure on the

:03:14.:03:18.

German boys. They were coming up with the answers time and again and

:03:19.:03:22.

that is the first mistake we have seen from Germany. I do not expect

:03:23.:03:29.

it will be happening all the time because they are still playing very

:03:30.:03:34.

well. It will go right down to the wire. If you were at the German

:03:35.:03:45.

skip, to wrestle momentum, would you think about carrying through until

:03:46.:03:53.

the next day and, or do you take advantage and hope you do well in

:03:54.:03:57.

the next two ends? The German team have the hammer in this end, but

:03:58.:04:05.

unfortunately we have two, unfortunately for them, we have two

:04:06.:04:12.

stones in here and if it continues like this even will have done a good

:04:13.:04:20.

end -- David Murdoch. F they are not going to score two or more, they

:04:21.:04:29.

would preferred to carry the end over. I have seen the momentum

:04:30.:04:41.

change. He looks quite perplexed. Their shots were coming off every

:04:42.:04:53.

time earlier in the match. That has balanced out. It can be a game of

:04:54.:05:04.

patience. These guys, albeit they were trying hard, they have waited

:05:05.:05:13.

patiently and not change their game plan. In the second half of the game

:05:14.:05:19.

we have seen a couple of twos being scored. Another good shot from Greg

:05:20.:05:32.

Drummond. We have to make sure we keep enough distance between them to

:05:33.:05:35.

stop Germany playing a double as that would be to their advantage and

:05:36.:05:39.

they would try to run the end out and not score and take the hammer

:05:40.:05:50.

over to the next end. We talk about the hammer which means having the

:05:51.:06:00.

last stone. It is a great atmosphere as Russia are playing next to the

:06:01.:06:10.

British match and are currently down 7-5 to Norway. China leading USA by

:06:11.:06:26.

three. Sweden leading Canada by two. Just needs Tuesday in here. If there

:06:27.:06:35.

is anybody out there who has any questions for us, send them in to

:06:36.:06:54.

the BBC. Do not make men -- mine hard. Away from the ice he is a very

:06:55.:07:03.

successful businessman who decided he wanted to resurrect his Olympic

:07:04.:07:12.

dream and he has been away from the scored for -- the spot for 15 years.

:07:13.:07:26.

Playing third. Felix Schulze until the previous end had been doing very

:07:27.:07:35.

well. That is David Murdoch's mum and dad. Not paying attention! That

:07:36.:07:57.

is quiet confidence. You might think they are cheering for David Murdoch,

:07:58.:08:03.

they are not. The atmosphere in here has been pretty good, they have been

:08:04.:08:06.

respectful of the other matches. I think Germany are happy to come

:08:07.:08:37.

down and catch the stone and roll across to the other side. It was

:08:38.:08:54.

such a poor shot that he played at the end of the previous end and that

:08:55.:09:01.

is going to nag at him. It is a shame because it is one shot out of

:09:02.:09:04.

many so far. He is asking for a freeze. A freeze

:09:05.:09:22.

at this stage in the game is not a bad call, he has last stone, it is

:09:23.:09:32.

almost a get out of jail free card. He can freeze down to the red on the

:09:33.:09:40.

left-hand side. He has to freeze with no space between them or David

:09:41.:09:44.

Murdoch will be able to spend both of them out, but it is worth a try

:09:45.:09:50.

because he has last stone to pull out of anything that gets

:09:51.:10:00.

difficult. He has asked him to move the brush out another couple of

:10:01.:10:09.

inches. He looks nervous having looked confident earlier. Turning

:10:10.:10:18.

the curling stone clockwise. It should rotate. Across to the right.

:10:19.:10:34.

This needs to, round Arlott. -- come round. They are saying OK, but it is

:10:35.:10:46.

not really. He is saying he thought the line was right but I am sitting

:10:47.:10:53.

behind it. I think he was just too heavy. If he had played later, the

:10:54.:11:04.

boys could maybe have swept it in. This will be an easy chip out for

:11:05.:11:15.

David Murdoch. If they can force the one, this will be a result

:11:16.:11:19.

considering the position they were in.

:11:20.:11:30.

I think they are going to see Felix play a similar shot. His last couple

:11:31.:11:45.

of shots have been particularly poor. There are two red stones which

:11:46.:11:53.

should act as backing. The way things are going for him, he would

:11:54.:12:02.

slide right between those two. Sometimes it can be the biggest

:12:03.:12:07.

space in the world. He has to remember how he was playing

:12:08.:12:15.

earlier. His mannerisms, you can see him breathing. They have taken more

:12:16.:12:26.

eyes because he wants to come into the blue circles in the centre of

:12:27.:12:38.

the house. This looks as if it is going to come nicely. I think he was

:12:39.:12:46.

a little nervous, but he takes the one and that puts Germany back in

:12:47.:12:59.

the lead. Germany with two ends to go lead by 6-5. Blank, we heard.

:13:00.:13:13.

David Murdoch will be happy to blank this end and take the hammer going

:13:14.:13:23.

down the 10th. I think they have done well to get themselves into

:13:24.:13:27.

this position because modelling them was definitely with Germany

:13:28.:13:35.

earlier. -- momentum. Got a bonus two in the seventh end and now a

:13:36.:13:42.

chance to maintain that sort of control, even though they are one

:13:43.:13:49.

down, it is not a bad decision. It is easier said than done to say, get

:13:50.:13:58.

your two in the 10th. I think Felix Schulze is the man they will want to

:13:59.:14:10.

put pressure on. Sven Goldemann getting things underway for

:14:11.:14:11.

Germany. The German lead playing a shot that

:14:12.:14:34.

sits just outside of the house which is a good shot for the lead to use

:14:35.:14:40.

as protection as the game goes on. Sitting in what we call the Freegard

:14:41.:14:50.

zone, the opposition are not allowed to remove the stones out of play

:14:51.:14:53.

until after the first two players have played, the lead on either

:14:54.:15:06.

team. Michael Goodfellow did not quite get out to the stick to get

:15:07.:15:12.

the right line to comment behind that and he had tapped it full.

:15:13.:15:28.

Sven being asked to play a takeout. He will still want to sit high of

:15:29.:15:39.

the rings. Once again, that is out of the house, and David cannot

:15:40.:15:45.

remove these stones from play. He will ask Michael Goodfellow to try

:15:46.:15:47.

to come round, in behind them. If Germany, they know that Britain,

:15:48.:16:05.

I am sure with a third, they wanted to blank the end. What is the

:16:06.:16:09.

strategy for the team, is there anything you can do to try to negate

:16:10.:16:17.

that? Germany will try to get as many stones upfront and into the

:16:18.:16:21.

centre of the house. To blank the end, Great Britain will have to play

:16:22.:16:29.

some big doubles and some raised takeouts. It isn't always as easy as

:16:30.:16:31.

they say. Christopher Bartsch, he started the

:16:32.:16:52.

game while. Similarly, the last couple of friends, not quite as

:16:53.:16:58.

accurate. This should be fairly straightforward. -- the last couple

:16:59.:17:05.

of ends. David, now, going to ask to clear

:17:06.:17:27.

these two German stones at the front of the house, the ones that were not

:17:28.:17:33.

allowed to be hit out of play until after the second player comes into

:17:34.:17:44.

play. Scott Andrews can hopefully lift both these stones. A nice shot.

:17:45.:17:53.

Rolling to the top of the house. A good shot.

:17:54.:18:11.

I have seen instances, Steve, where a team may have a shot at the house

:18:12.:18:18.

and the potential to draw another one in, and they would should -- hit

:18:19.:18:33.

someone out. -- hit that one out. That is when tactics come into play.

:18:34.:18:37.

You must have been reading my mind, I was going to ask you to explain

:18:38.:18:46.

that. As you say, then you are on the flip side of the coin, because

:18:47.:18:52.

you go into last end but given the hammer back. These teams are so

:18:53.:19:07.

good. It is like the end of a 1500m, don't hit the front too early, time

:19:08.:19:12.

your run right. It is about patients. -- patience. I haven't

:19:13.:19:26.

seen too many European teams doing that, but a lot of Canadian teams

:19:27.:19:28.

would call that shot. They are having to work that hard.

:19:29.:19:42.

I'm not sure it has enough legs. Just clipped the front stone but it

:19:43.:20:04.

has finished in not too bad a position. Sven Goldemann is 44, he

:20:05.:20:15.

will not be thanking them for making him sweep that hard. And they had to

:20:16.:20:22.

leave it for the momentum, to come in.

:20:23.:20:31.

Greg Drummond, being asked to do a similar shot. Again, our guys are

:20:32.:20:42.

having to dig in really hard. This is pulling all the time.

:20:43.:20:49.

It caught the top, that is really disappointing. These two shots are

:20:50.:20:57.

sitting pretty level but that gives the Germans an opportunity to catch

:20:58.:21:01.

the inside of one of the Reds, and roll across.

:21:02.:21:08.

Watching that, the British stone almost seemed to come in even more

:21:09.:21:14.

than the German one had done previously. It is up to how fast the

:21:15.:21:27.

player releases the stones at the other end.

:21:28.:21:33.

The skip here, John Jahr, trying to take these two at. To sit behind the

:21:34.:21:39.

front stone. Trying hard to hold the shot.

:21:40.:21:46.

It tapped that red. I have to say, I don't think we are going to be

:21:47.:21:58.

blanking this end now. They have done well. If you know the

:21:59.:22:05.

opposition, what they are trying to do. It is OK having a guy -- a game

:22:06.:22:17.

plan, but they have played their shots. Strategy or the tactics of

:22:18.:22:25.

the game, unless you are executing the shots to that strategy you are

:22:26.:22:32.

playing, it sometimes doesn't always work. Trying to move these rocks

:22:33.:22:39.

around, it only takes one. That was unfortunate. They would have liked

:22:40.:22:46.

to shift another of those yellow stones in there. He knows, he is

:22:47.:22:52.

annoyed with himself. What they definitely do not want is

:22:53.:23:07.

Germany getting a steel here. -- steal. Greg Drummond saying the good

:23:08.:23:15.

thing is the German team are coming in. They are going to try and

:23:16.:23:23.

actually remove this red stone. Remove it out of the house. Maybe

:23:24.:23:31.

not quite like that. But that gives the opportunity of Great Britain,

:23:32.:23:36.

because the stones are all in the house, to throw some heavy granite

:23:37.:23:40.

at it and removed two or three shots. You could potentially call

:23:41.:23:46.

their bluff and put another close guard. It feels like they may be

:23:47.:23:51.

playing into our boys's hands at the minute.

:23:52.:23:59.

A couple of critical shots coming up for both teams. He did well there

:24:00.:24:07.

again. David Murdoch has some difficult choices to make now.

:24:08.:24:14.

It is not going to be easy to move them more the round. Not at all.

:24:15.:24:29.

The question is, can he get them all going? I was going to say, he will

:24:30.:24:38.

have to come in with a lot of weight. He has two more stones.

:24:39.:24:52.

I think, the way the angles are, one of them is going to stay, or jam.

:24:53.:25:02.

We really would have to be throwing some granite at that. As Greg said

:25:03.:25:11.

that, whatever the result is, they will maybe have two open up this

:25:12.:25:22.

forfeit -- four foot now. Move the top two, that has to be the

:25:23.:25:27.

minimum. They are causing the bother. The boys were looking at

:25:28.:25:32.

trying to lift all three. They would have to hit the right-hand side of

:25:33.:25:37.

the top stone. Then you will roll out the house and have no

:25:38.:25:43.

advantage. They have made the decision to hit, hopefully, the

:25:44.:25:47.

stone will sit just where the brush is sitting at the top of the house,

:25:48.:25:54.

and remove the top two. Really coming down to the wire. Of

:25:55.:26:00.

course, every match is important. You set your target at the beginning

:26:01.:26:04.

of the week. To get into the top four. This is a match that Great

:26:05.:26:08.

Britain desperately wants to win. They are in with a chance. Murdoch

:26:09.:26:14.

with his penultimate stone. Needing to move those German stones outcome

:26:15.:26:16.

he did well there. That is a great result for him. And

:26:17.:26:32.

he has left the shooter at the top of the house which was even more

:26:33.:26:33.

important. It would have been really nice if

:26:34.:26:47.

that stone near the T9 had gone out. Just hanging on. -- stone near

:26:48.:26:58.

the T-line. It depends what Schulze plays here.

:26:59.:27:05.

He will try to run this red back onto the back bread. And lift the

:27:06.:27:08.

two shots -- on to the back red. He will want to lie in the house as

:27:09.:27:25.

well. Actually... Unlucky, there. He still

:27:26.:27:40.

leaves himself lying to shots, and he is going to make us have 2... --

:27:41.:27:53.

have to... Forced them to take the one here. We were hoping either to

:27:54.:28:01.

score a two, or blank the end. Now we have been forced to a one. If

:28:02.:28:07.

Dave makes this without the hammer...

:28:08.:28:14.

This end, not quite turning out as intended. That is as much down to

:28:15.:28:22.

good play from Germany as anything else. So, Dave Murdoch, the British

:28:23.:28:27.

skip, doing what he has been doing very well yesterday and today,

:28:28.:28:29.

playing a nice draw. Doing just enough to take the one

:28:30.:28:40.

shot. That is really unfortunate for us. Dave played a cracker of a shot,

:28:41.:28:44.

only to have it followed up by Felix who once again played another good

:28:45.:28:52.

shot, forcing us to take a one. So, it is all tied after nine ends.

:28:53.:29:00.

Germany, crucially, have the hammer going into the 10th and final end.

:29:01.:29:05.

The British quartet are really up against it here. But, as we have

:29:06.:29:10.

just seen, they are playing well. They might have a chance.

:29:11.:29:14.

These boys know what they have to do. Leave a lot of short stones in

:29:15.:29:21.

play, make it difficult for the German team to remove them. Then

:29:22.:29:26.

bring some round behind it and steal the end. Not the easiest thing to do

:29:27.:29:30.

but they have practised this time and again. They just have to see if

:29:31.:29:37.

it is going to come off in this end.

:29:38.:29:45.

There the school. The percentages, 80% for both teams, shooting exactly

:29:46.:29:49.

the same. It has been a tight match all the way through. A little error

:29:50.:29:56.

on each side. Occasionally letting the opposition in. By and large,

:29:57.:30:04.

they have been very well matched. We spoke about everybody's position

:30:05.:30:08.

in the team. Michael Goodfellow here, he may well be the lead in the

:30:09.:30:15.

first -- and the first player to throw, but it is Kiki places these

:30:16.:30:19.

stones in the right position in order for the boys to follow their

:30:20.:30:20.

game plan. That is a great shot from Michael. A

:30:21.:30:49.

tip is where they want to tip it over the edge. This does not look as

:30:50.:30:55.

if it is pulling in after. They will not be too disappointed with that.

:30:56.:31:02.

You have to make sure you are playing heavy enough that you are

:31:03.:31:08.

not going to be left lying out. Is a barrier to them to get to it. They

:31:09.:31:19.

have to give it a go. We need another short stone from Michael. We

:31:20.:31:28.

wanted to be Street in line with another space. That is two excellent

:31:29.:31:45.

stones if we want to have a steel here -- steal. It is a bit like

:31:46.:31:57.

chess. The opposition know exactly what you are doing as well. I am not

:31:58.:32:06.

a big chess player, but maybe it is like checkmate. They are going to

:32:07.:32:18.

put it in the house and that is another good shot. There has been

:32:19.:32:30.

the odd slack shot during the game but it has been a good game. Without

:32:31.:32:38.

re-entering anything, this game could go either way, there is every

:32:39.:32:49.

prospect of a win, if it is a defeat, they will have played Russia

:32:50.:32:56.

and Germany who they would have thought they would have. There is an

:32:57.:33:02.

interesting much going on between Canada and Sweden which is tied at

:33:03.:33:09.

6-6 and Sweden have the hammer in the final end so that would put to

:33:10.:33:24.

-- Canada in a position they would not expect to be end. All of the

:33:25.:33:32.

hard work building towards this disappears.

:33:33.:33:46.

John asking Christopher to come down. Played a little bit tight but

:33:47.:33:55.

I do not think he will be too disappointed because this winter

:33:56.:33:59.

stone is the one that is going to cause him trouble -- the centre

:34:00.:34:14.

stone. Scott being asked to replace that once again.

:34:15.:34:23.

That is a nice shot. That is acting as a protector for us. It makes it

:34:24.:34:40.

much more difficult for the German team to remove our shots in the

:34:41.:34:57.

house. Christopher Bartsch is going to come around the first guard. It

:34:58.:35:16.

is holding pretty straight. We will try to replace that again. This is

:35:17.:35:27.

where nerves start to tell and experience is really important. Greg

:35:28.:35:33.

Drummond has been playing really well and looked calm. It comes down

:35:34.:35:55.

to this, one slip and you let the opposition in. It just swung a

:35:56.:36:12.

little bit too much. Asking John to remove it.

:36:13.:36:20.

Even if Germany managed to remove that stone it gives Great Britain

:36:21.:36:29.

the opportunity to play an even better one behind it, because we

:36:30.:36:36.

still have those two at the front. The game was very well set up why

:36:37.:36:42.

Michael playing two very good shots. Greg has been playing really

:36:43.:36:52.

good takeouts. It is when he has been asked to draw he has not been

:36:53.:36:56.

doing as well. Indicating he might have been a

:36:57.:37:23.

little bit heavy in weight. This has given Great Britain the opportunity

:37:24.:37:33.

to play and out-turn draw and place it even better than we had before,

:37:34.:37:43.

but as you said Greg has not been drawing as well as he has been

:37:44.:37:52.

hitting. He has to give Dave Murdoch something to work to. This looks

:37:53.:38:05.

like a very good shot. Almost, just not tucking in, but not a bad effort

:38:06.:38:10.

from Greg Drummond. This is still a difficult shot they

:38:11.:38:32.

have asked the German skip who plays third stone to come down here at

:38:33.:38:39.

Hack weight, which is a stone that is travelling heavy enough that it

:38:40.:38:44.

will go right out through the house and hit the hack at the back. It is

:38:45.:39:14.

coming. Another good shot. They are trying to use that storage is that

:39:15.:39:21.

it's behind those front to -- use that stone and sit it behind those

:39:22.:39:34.

front two. Asking for time-out? Yes. Soren Gran the coach will come down.

:39:35.:39:50.

If we go round, we are nice. He is going to chase. We cannot leave that

:39:51.:40:04.

because we go perfect year or there, he is going to freeze it. You

:40:05.:40:14.

can see the clock being put in, plenty of time left. Soren Gran is

:40:15.:40:27.

making his way down. If I got here on my first, he had anything -- he

:40:28.:40:54.

has anything. If you just tuck... I like that call. He knows the shot he

:40:55.:41:08.

wants to play. It is interesting to hear what the boys are going to say.

:41:09.:41:30.

Who won? I think Dave Murdoch. It was not a bad call from Soren Gran.

:41:31.:41:41.

David had the gut instinct. He wants to move the shot. He needs to have

:41:42.:41:53.

the right roll in. A crucial stone for Dave Murdoch. If that's does not

:41:54.:42:01.

go well, it will open the way for Germany. That is excellent.

:42:02.:42:10.

Fantastic. He is saving his best until the end. Good shot, good

:42:11.:42:24.

call. Sweden have beaten Canada. They use their hammer with the last

:42:25.:42:33.

stone to win 7-6. We are hoping for a different outcome here. A big

:42:34.:42:48.

discussion going on. Saying, play the same, cut down on the same

:42:49.:42:55.

line, so the stone that has just been removed. These guys really do

:42:56.:43:03.

not need to panic. They just have to move two or three further back. They

:43:04.:43:13.

do not have to remove it out of play, they just have to push it to

:43:14.:43:22.

the back. Felix Schulze has to play a shot he is happy with. It has to

:43:23.:43:30.

figure a little bit with them. He has to play the shot he is

:43:31.:43:36.

comfortable with. That does seem the sensible one to do. What is the

:43:37.:43:49.

crucial thing for him? Move that and live -- lie shot. Dave could not

:43:50.:44:02.

have placed it any better if he tried.

:44:03.:44:12.

Felix Schulze's penultimate stone. They have to be careful. That makes

:44:13.:44:36.

his job a little bit harder. Pressure, its whole demeanour, the

:44:37.:44:44.

last few ends, he has been taking those deep breaths. They maybe had

:44:45.:44:52.

to be on that a little bit earlier, but you are frightened you do not

:44:53.:44:59.

get the finish at the end. There really is no holding it. A great

:45:00.:45:09.

opportunity for Dave Murdoch. He is going to try to protect this. And

:45:10.:45:15.

make the last shot for Felix Schulze as hard as possible. It is difficult

:45:16.:45:23.

cause Germany still have the yellow stone on the right-hand side which

:45:24.:45:31.

they could drive in. They have the yellow sitting at the back of the

:45:32.:45:37.

ring. He does not want to bring it in too far and leave a double but he

:45:38.:45:44.

does not want to leave it too far out. That has picked up.

:45:45.:46:01.

That is really unfortunate. That has made the job easier for Felix

:46:02.:46:14.

Schulze. That is not what you want to see, that usually disappointing

:46:15.:46:21.

-- is really disappointing. Nothing you can do. The rubber sole under

:46:22.:46:33.

the slider shoe, possibly something to do with that. Felix still has to

:46:34.:46:43.

play the shot. You would fancy this, wouldn't you? Yes, although he

:46:44.:46:55.

looks nervous. The chance to take the final end. He just needs to

:46:56.:47:07.

replace the British stone. This one is not taking the pool at all. A

:47:08.:47:22.

steal for Great Britain. Defeat looked the only possibility. Felix

:47:23.:47:31.

Schulze has to apologise to his team because in the last three ends he

:47:32.:47:39.

has played three terrible shots. He was put under pressure and Britain

:47:40.:47:46.

somehow have, we were a 7-6 victory and they will have a huge sigh of

:47:47.:47:55.

relief. That was close. He is the best snowboarder on earth.

:47:56.:48:53.

How tense was that? The appearance of the biggest name in the Winter

:48:54.:49:05.

Olympics. Shaun White can do the impossible.

:49:06.:49:18.

The big headline is that the halfpipe is in dire shape. There

:49:19.:49:28.

have been crisis meetings and talks of possible warning and the opted

:49:29.:49:40.

not to -- and they decided not to postpone.

:49:41.:50:04.

He generates so much speed, his technique is so immaculate. It is

:50:05.:50:15.

absolutely massive. Front side 1080, first hit. Switch ten. There is that

:50:16.:50:27.

signature 540. You know it is in bad condition when even Shaun White is

:50:28.:50:32.

struggling through the middle. And a rodeo to finish. A stock standard

:50:33.:50:41.

run by Shaun. You can just tell how powerful he is. Really strong in the

:50:42.:50:46.

flat bottom, and he keeps his speed. I know you will be focusing on your

:50:47.:50:51.

own game. But Shaun is a ferocious competitor. What would he have made

:50:52.:50:58.

of Ayumu Hirano? He would have been watching some of

:50:59.:51:01.

our runs before his heat. It must be quite liberating for him.

:51:02.:51:14.

After all the controversy over the slopestyle last week, all of the

:51:15.:51:19.

talk about what condition it was in. To strap in and get a score down

:51:20.:51:27.

has probably calmed him down. He will be feeling a lot better now.

:51:28.:51:34.

He has a pet dog called Steve as well!

:51:35.:51:45.

95.75! A big smile finally cracks across Shaun White's face. He has

:51:46.:51:50.

been shouldering a lot of pressure. But he will watch one of his arch

:51:51.:51:54.

rivals on the pipe now. Iouri Podladtchikov. He developed the

:51:55.:52:05.

yo-lo flip. Backside there. Like-for-like so far

:52:06.:52:36.

with Shaw. Oh! If you make any mistake on your edges, it can throw

:52:37.:52:43.

you like that. What did he do that? Too much heel edge pressure? There

:52:44.:52:47.

is a little bump all the way down that ridge. That is what it does to

:52:48.:52:52.

you, it throws you out of sync. Shaun, we can see him getting mobbed

:52:53.:53:12.

by the volunteers who are running the lift on the side of the park. He

:53:13.:53:19.

has been really good with signing and doing photos. He was in training

:53:20.:53:23.

at the top and there must have been 50 people. He was happy to sign

:53:24.:53:25.

anything. And backwards, to switch. Double

:53:26.:53:37.

ten. A crazy mactwist. That was a good

:53:38.:54:15.

run. The first time we have seen the Chinese men compete in an Olympics.

:54:16.:54:21.

We had the women in Vancouver. I personally don't know much about

:54:22.:54:26.

them, we haven't seen them in any of the world snowboard tournaments.

:54:27.:54:34.

They were first very much to themselves, but they have learned

:54:35.:54:38.

the language. They are really cool guys, they are good fun. They enjoy

:54:39.:54:43.

snowboarding. They are killing it at the moment.

:54:44.:54:58.

Looking at the replays, Yiwei Zhang. He missed most of the grabs

:54:59.:55:04.

but the judges did not seem to be marking him down.

:55:05.:55:14.

90 points! There is a real lack of consistency for me. That wasn't

:55:15.:55:20.

better than Taylor Gold's run but there was ten points difference.

:55:21.:55:37.

18 years old will stop I saw him take a whopper of a slam yesterday.

:55:38.:55:49.

-- 18 years old. All of the Japanese riders can take slams like no one

:55:50.:55:56.

you have ever seen. I swear they breed them hard.

:55:57.:56:04.

It is hardening up. You can see it throw him up. The edge got snagged

:56:05.:56:10.

on, he did well to hold on. Normally it is an advantage... That was the

:56:11.:56:17.

big double. He generated a lot of speed at the bottom of the pipe. A

:56:18.:56:25.

good run. He seemed to explode off the lip. It is quite entertaining.

:56:26.:56:30.

The Japanese commentators in the room next to us. They are very happy

:56:31.:56:38.

about that. They are going wild, it is like a pack of baby dogs in their

:56:39.:56:43.

-- rabid dogs. These slow Mo replays showing how he

:56:44.:56:48.

sprang out. Let us see if we can get some

:56:49.:57:05.

consistency from the judges. Well, we are already in a much higher

:57:06.:57:10.

scoring heat. That is a quarter of a point less than Ayumu Hirano. Shaun

:57:11.:57:21.

White, with the highest score so far. Confirmation of these results.

:57:22.:57:26.

Shaun White is predictably at the top.

:57:27.:57:40.
