Good morning from the Ice Cube curling Center as the band strikes

:00:41.:00:48.

up and we get ready for day six of the curling competition. It is nine

:00:49.:00:54.

o'clock here in Sochi. It is well before dawn in yours. If you have

:00:55.:00:58.

set your alarm clock to coincide with our coverage of day six, we

:00:59.:01:04.

salute you. We reckon you have made the right decision. This is a

:01:05.:01:07.

critical morning for the medal hopes of Team GB. Eve Muirhead's team know

:01:08.:01:15.

what it is like to win a world title but they are walking on thin ice in

:01:16.:01:21.

their hopes for Olympic gold. They cannot afford any slip-ups against

:01:22.:01:27.

China. James Woods is a big noise in Freestyle Skiing. This is his big

:01:28.:01:34.

moment in free slopestyle. And there are not one but two medal hopes in

:01:35.:01:43.

skeleton for Team GB. Lizzy Yarnold is ranked number one in the world

:01:44.:01:48.

while Shelley Rudman won Silver eight years ago. We will see their

:01:49.:01:53.

opening two runs at the Sanki Sliding Centre today. And in the

:01:54.:02:00.

thick of things at the Ice Cube curling Center, David Murdoch's men

:02:01.:02:05.

will meet the USA at ten o'clock, your time. We have got the sleaze

:02:06.:02:13.

sculpts -- ski slopestyle after six. In the meantime, we're focusing on

:02:14.:02:18.

events here. It is getting a bit twitchy for Eve Muirhead and Great

:02:19.:02:24.

Britain team. With one win and two defeats against Sweden and Canada,

:02:25.:02:33.

they cannot afford to make too many more mistakes. Only the top four

:02:34.:02:37.

teams go through at the end of the round-robin phase next week. With

:02:38.:02:42.

Great Britain sitting seventh in the table, there is much work to be

:02:43.:02:47.

done. Jackie Lockhart is a four-time Olympian in curling. She has been

:02:48.:02:52.

living and breathing every moment. Let's talk first of all about that

:02:53.:02:56.

dramatic last stone conclusion against the Canadians last night.

:02:57.:03:02.

That was a ding-dong of a game last night. A lot of people will be

:03:03.:03:06.

talking about that shot for a long time to come. It was not the right

:03:07.:03:12.

shot to play. Eve supports the thought that the middle red would

:03:13.:03:16.

have stayed. Maybe in hindsight she should have gone for the draw. And

:03:17.:03:21.

taken the Canadians into an extra end. I saw the momentum changing.

:03:22.:03:26.

The Canadians were getting a bit twitchy. There were a couple of

:03:27.:03:30.

misses. If Eve had put the pressure on them, she may have stolen it.

:03:31.:03:37.

This game may come back to haunt us. There is not much wriggle room for

:03:38.:03:41.

Eve Muirhead. Realistically, how many more matches could Britain

:03:42.:03:46.

afford to lose? We really don't want to lose any more than one or two. If

:03:47.:03:54.

we lose two we could be relying on teams playing for us. These girls

:03:55.:04:00.

really have to remember what they have practised. They have done all

:04:01.:04:03.

the training, all the preparation. They have to go out there, believe

:04:04.:04:07.

they can do it and hopefully the wins will come. Be -- they are the

:04:08.:04:14.

world champions. What is missing from their performances so far? Eve

:04:15.:04:21.

Muirhead has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. Much more than she

:04:22.:04:25.

ever had in Vancouver. I always said before she came out here, it was how

:04:26.:04:29.

the girls were going to handle the pressure. She's not quite the Eve we

:04:30.:04:33.

are used to seeing. She is very confident. She just seems a little

:04:34.:04:41.

bit edgy. I am hoping the coach will have said to her, relax and enjoy

:04:42.:04:44.

the games, and hopefully the technical ability of throwing the

:04:45.:04:50.

stone will come for her. What have you made of the Chinese? The Chinese

:04:51.:04:58.

are not adverse to this level of competition. They have brought in a

:04:59.:05:05.

Canadian to help them. They have had a couple of slack years where they

:05:06.:05:09.

have not made the play-off stages. This Canadian guy is bringing their

:05:10.:05:14.

confidence back up. They should not be underestimated. We're going to

:05:15.:05:19.

get to this match. You are going to attempt a personal best to get into

:05:20.:05:23.

the commentary position to join Steve Cram. Steve, she is on her

:05:24.:05:28.

way! Letup for good things in this one, shall we? -- let us hope.

:05:29.:05:39.

Yes, I think obviously it is a scenario we are all saying this is a

:05:40.:05:46.

must win game. I think Jackie is right. You look at all of these

:05:47.:05:52.

matches and they are all tough. If you lose this one, you have lost

:05:53.:05:56.

three matches. You could still go through with five wins. It just

:05:57.:06:01.

means you are sleeping so much pressure on this young team to do

:06:02.:06:08.

well. They have shown, of course, in championships they cope well with

:06:09.:06:12.

pressure in the past. It is always easy when things are going for you.

:06:13.:06:16.

It is how you respond when things are not going for you. Eve takes all

:06:17.:06:23.

of that responsibility. She said after that loss that that is the way

:06:24.:06:29.

it is for the skip. You go for the big shots and you are the hero or

:06:30.:06:33.

you only person everybody questioning. She accepts that. Let

:06:34.:06:41.

us hope this morning they do as the men did against Switzerland. Play a

:06:42.:06:45.

tight game, control at all the way through. Switzerland are a good

:06:46.:06:58.

team. So are these Chinese. A lot of experience. And this team, the one

:06:59.:07:03.

that has come back together, with Betty Wang as skip. You playing the

:07:04.:07:16.

lead stones. Olympic bronze medallists last time around. The

:07:17.:07:19.

last couple of years have not been as successful. Signs that they are

:07:20.:07:24.

starting to play well again. They have had a couple of good tournament

:07:25.:07:28.

wins in preparing for these Olympics. They just needed to get

:07:29.:07:36.

off to a good start this morning. That is the key. Do not make any

:07:37.:07:41.

mistakes early on. Do not get behind. I was watching them about

:07:42.:07:50.

half an hour ago when they were practising. Both skips get to do

:07:51.:07:58.

their jaw to the button to determine who gets the hammer. Eve's was well

:07:59.:08:07.

short. In some ways that may be a good omen. Until this point she has

:08:08.:08:11.

been doing that very well in each match. That meant that China started

:08:12.:08:17.

this match with the hammer at the first end.

:08:18.:08:32.

Before the game started there were a few high-fives. Just trying to get

:08:33.:08:42.

themselves hyped up, psyched up, whichever you would like to call it.

:08:43.:08:49.

They certainly seemed as though they were coming out this morning

:08:50.:08:51.

understanding the situation they are in. Hopefully ready to play a little

:08:52.:09:01.

better than they have done so far. The first bit of real work for the

:09:02.:09:08.

sweepers. That is not bad. They have done well. Almost there.

:09:09.:09:18.

Generally a figure Vicki Adams has been playing pretty well at second.

:09:19.:09:29.

-- generally I think. And it has really been just some of the

:09:30.:09:36.

decision making, and some of the shots that have not come off, that

:09:37.:09:40.

have left Britain in the situation they are in. There were lots of big

:09:41.:09:44.

shots played against Canada. It always seemed as though it would go

:09:45.:09:52.

down to the wire. They were being made to react to Canada a little too

:09:53.:09:56.

much and were chasing the game, I think. So, Anna Sloan... I thought

:09:57.:10:06.

she was quite generous in her interview afterwards. The first

:10:07.:10:17.

stone she had sent down on the last end, she took responsibility for

:10:18.:10:22.

that. She said it was not just about Eve's. It was how they had built it

:10:23.:10:24.

up until that point. Not such a good shot from the left

:10:25.:10:44.

to begin with. A little tentative. This is the union. -- Liu Yan.

:10:45.:10:53.

Somebody Betty Wang has relied on a lot. Delighted to have her back in

:10:54.:11:04.

her team. That is a nice shot for her to begin with. Right behind the

:11:05.:11:16.

stone left there by Anna Sloan. Jackie has finally made it. It only

:11:17.:11:19.

took about half an hour to get down the stairs! Was not maybe 500 metres

:11:20.:11:31.

away and not 50 yards? ! Vicaut starting to come in. There is a fair

:11:32.:11:36.

bit of British support this morning as well. -- the crowd is starting to

:11:37.:11:41.

come in. Just three matches this morning. That is better. Canada are

:11:42.:11:55.

playing Denmark, and Switzerland against Sweden will be an

:11:56.:11:59.

interesting one. Switzerland and Canada with an unbeaten record so

:12:00.:12:08.

far of three wins. So Eve's and find themselves in equal seventh at the

:12:09.:12:15.

moment. It is still early. China with two wins and one loss.

:12:16.:12:32.

I'm not sure how much time they spend with the Chinese men's team.

:12:33.:12:40.

The men take this competition by surprise. They top the men's

:12:41.:12:46.

standings. I'm not sure most people would have predicted that after four

:12:47.:12:54.

matches. Yes, I think the fact they have got in a Canadian coach, Marcel

:12:55.:13:02.

Rock, multi-world champion himself, probably has made a huge difference.

:13:03.:13:07.

All of these countries now are definitely pulling in the cultures

:13:08.:13:11.

from all over the world to make any sort of improvement in the game.

:13:12.:13:26.

That stone, I am not sure whether it curled more than anticipated.

:13:27.:13:41.

She certainly wears her heart on her sleeve. You can definitely tell when

:13:42.:13:48.

Eve is not at all impressed by her shots.

:13:49.:14:00.

So, China here with the hammer. They are going to play and in-turn drawl

:14:01.:14:16.

-- draw to make it difficult for Eve to get to it. This Chinese team was

:14:17.:14:32.

put together a good few years ago. Betty Wang, everybody calls her

:14:33.:14:38.

Betty, she has been playing top-level curling for many years. So

:14:39.:14:44.

much experience. They pretty much base themselves in Canada,

:14:45.:14:51.

particularly leading up to'. -- leading up to the games in

:14:52.:14:56.

Vancouver. That has just not come round as much as she would have

:14:57.:15:04.

liked. No, it hasn't. Maybe it will give Eve the opportunity to play it

:15:05.:15:08.

down weight shot and get a little curl at the end, and maybe a flop in

:15:09.:15:20.

behind her on guard at the front. You get the feeling, I was saying

:15:21.:15:23.

and your weight down, it is so important to start well,

:15:24.:15:39.

particularly for Eve A nice shot here would be mission accomplished.

:15:40.:15:46.

She needs to get a couple of good stones early on to settle her down.

:15:47.:15:51.

We only have one game today. We really would like to finish this

:15:52.:16:06.

game on a win. She will have plenty of time to recover for the game

:16:07.:16:12.

tomorrow, but it is a lot of time to wait. I was saying, we cannot afford

:16:13.:16:19.

to have many more losses or we may end up in tie-break situations. This

:16:20.:16:27.

has left Betty for this straightforward shot to get her two

:16:28.:16:33.

here. Did not quite tucked in enough. What you said with Hazel,

:16:34.:16:40.

underlining the point that, given the way some of the results have

:16:41.:16:44.

gone, looking at matches to come, Japan and Korea to come. This is

:16:45.:16:51.

certainly a much they can win, but you have to actually get the wins on

:16:52.:16:58.

the board. Two for China in the first end. Fairly quiet start,

:16:59.:17:12.

really. One or two errant shots, particularly from Anna and Eve. They

:17:13.:17:18.

are going to have to tighten up and be on the game. You cannot come out

:17:19.:17:27.

cold. You cannot let China Spring out. The Chinese team are playing

:17:28.:17:32.

better than they have done over the last couple of years. Into the

:17:33.:17:46.

second end, Britain with the hammer now.

:17:47.:17:54.

This is the quietest we have seen probably in the arena because the

:17:55.:18:05.

Russian women are not playing this morning.

:18:06.:18:15.

That will be quite good for the girls on the ice. They will be able

:18:16.:18:22.

to hear the calls. When the Russian crowd get going, it is very noisy

:18:23.:18:28.

and here. A lot of the girls have to revert to hand signals to let the

:18:29.:18:32.

players know what they want. The calling of the shot. Claire

:18:33.:18:46.

Hamilton, she just wants to lie shy of the rings, short of the rings, to

:18:47.:18:57.

use has stone for cover. -- her stone.

:18:58.:19:18.

I was reading an article this morning about the growth of curling

:19:19.:19:25.

in Asia. We talked about Korea and Japan, the next two matches. Eve has

:19:26.:19:31.

a group of Asian matches here, China, in particular, after the

:19:32.:19:36.

world when and the Olympic bronze medal, you forget about the amount

:19:37.:19:42.

of people who they could call into the game. When you start getting

:19:43.:19:46.

more and more people playing, the standard is going to rise. In one or

:19:47.:19:52.

two provinces, curling is now part of the school programme as well. If

:19:53.:19:55.

you start getting them playing early, who knows where it can go.

:19:56.:20:07.

Without question, the sport that was a minority sport is growing,

:20:08.:20:11.

especially in many other countries. Girls are going to have to work this

:20:12.:20:19.

one hard. Slightly over curling there, came right out the other

:20:20.:20:22.

side. Yue Qingshuang. Just talking about

:20:23.:20:50.

this team that has been together for a while. They lost their third who

:20:51.:20:57.

went off, she got married and went away for a period and is back in

:20:58.:21:01.

this team and I was saying that this experience of -- the experience of

:21:02.:21:12.

these players, they accept that people have been looking at Canada

:21:13.:21:16.

and Sweden and Britain, but the Chinese quartet are well capable of

:21:17.:21:22.

getting any medals. They might fly under the radar, so to speak. Betty,

:21:23.:21:28.

after she lost her third player, main wing man, she did not quite

:21:29.:21:32.

complete as well as she had done. But now she is back, she definitely

:21:33.:21:39.

has strengthened the team again. They are going to have to sweep this

:21:40.:21:43.

very hard to get past the guard. It has passed.

:21:44.:21:50.

That was a nice shot. But it caught too much of it there. They work

:21:51.:21:59.

afraid it was going to catch the guard. It did not pass it by much.

:22:00.:22:06.

Even would have liked her shooter, the yellow stone, to stay in the

:22:07.:22:21.

house -- Eve. The girls desperately trying hard to score a two here if

:22:22.:22:26.

possible. I know we keep talking about a game

:22:27.:22:46.

of margins, already this morning, the Chinese team making the shots

:22:47.:22:55.

already, getting the stones anyplace they need to. From the British

:22:56.:23:02.

perspective, no need to panic, only the second end, for goodness sake

:23:03.:23:05.

but they will be aware that they are in for a game here. Vicki Adams

:23:06.:23:20.

trying to come in on the other side. Just over curled a little bit at the

:23:21.:23:24.

end. It is difficult at this stage in the game whether there is more

:23:25.:23:32.

curl on the ice today but that is a couple of shots that we have seen

:23:33.:23:35.

over curled. We saw it in the men's game last night. All of the finished

:23:36.:23:42.

definitely comes as the weight is coming off the stone at the end.

:23:43.:23:55.

This is coming down a similar line. They will just want to follow the

:23:56.:24:04.

stone in, sit right on top. Again, this looks like it is doing a

:24:05.:24:10.

similar shot to Vicki's. It is swinging a lot more.

:24:11.:24:17.

Yeah, that is not the best shot in the world. It has left the red open

:24:18.:24:30.

for us to try and tap back. Eve will not be disappointed if she can tap

:24:31.:24:33.

its back and roll across to the right hand side of the sheet and

:24:34.:24:34.

stay in the house. The line is looking good at the

:24:35.:24:57.

moment. They are playing on sheet C which is the best one for Jackie and

:24:58.:25:09.

I to look down. Very good. You can just tell that Eve has taken on the

:25:10.:25:18.

responsibility. There needs to be a little bit more of that. They will

:25:19.:25:22.

have to work with each other, encourage each other. Very much so.

:25:23.:25:26.

This is about building up the end. Nice shot. Great Britain still one.

:25:27.:26:11.

Marcel, we used to call him Marcel The Shot Rock. I think Eve was just

:26:12.:26:29.

asking Vicki to cup in on those -- to come in on those two. She knows

:26:30.:26:36.

she may well move around a little. I think she is looking to try and tap

:26:37.:26:44.

this. Anna not at all confident that she has the cold to come in. This is

:26:45.:26:46.

tight. That is what I mean. Anna knows it

:26:47.:27:09.

is not a good shot. Eve was crying saying, it's OK. -- was kind. Might

:27:10.:27:20.

have been better to play a more controlled weight, even if you just

:27:21.:27:26.

tap it. That unfortunately, the tighter ice took. Those are to the

:27:27.:27:32.

centre, it seems to be pulling a lot more. A decision here for China on

:27:33.:27:51.

how they try and remove that yellow stone. The top red is protecting

:27:52.:28:02.

it. And the other red at the right-hand side of the yellow stone

:28:03.:28:06.

there, is not the easiest hit in the world, if you're stone draws at all,

:28:07.:28:12.

you will hit the face and go out the back and still leave the yellow

:28:13.:28:20.

there. I think Betty has chosen to come down onto this shot here to try

:28:21.:28:23.

and tap this shot and take it back. It is obviously a good shot. There

:28:24.:28:42.

is or is the chance that if you get this a little bit wrong, it could

:28:43.:28:45.

knock her own back as well or instead of.

:28:46.:28:56.

This needs to come round. The stone is holding out at the moment. We

:28:57.:29:03.

have seen it all week. If you play with just a little bit of weight to

:29:04.:29:07.

the stones, you do not get the result. It stays really straight on

:29:08.:29:15.

the four foot lines. I think the skip said straightaway that it was

:29:16.:29:25.

wide. That has given Eve a bit of an opportunity. We keep repeating

:29:26.:29:30.

ourselves, but this is the sort of thing which did not grow quite their

:29:31.:29:37.

way against Canada even. They had chancers -- did not go quite their

:29:38.:29:43.

way. The women's coach there David Haigh. Eve looking to get as much of

:29:44.:30:07.

this stone on the face and a little role to the left-hand side of the

:30:08.:30:10.

picture. She does not want to leave a double on here. Catch the first

:30:11.:30:14.

one, she gets by. It has been a tentative start from

:30:15.:30:40.

Eve Muirhead. Still not a bad shot at the end of the day. We have three

:30:41.:30:48.

Great Britain stones in there. There is only one lonely Chinese stone at

:30:49.:30:52.

the top of the house. Betty having to make a decision.

:30:53.:31:06.

I am not actually sure what she is going to do here. I would have been

:31:07.:31:13.

attempting a hate on the shot. -- a hit. Looking down, I may have been

:31:14.:31:25.

attempting hitting this stone to roll across here. And sit in. I

:31:26.:31:34.

think at this stage you have two certainly remove one of the GB

:31:35.:31:42.

stones if you were China. She has obviously just checked before this.

:31:43.:31:49.

She is going to play the freeze on the other side. Great call at the

:31:50.:31:54.

start of this game. She does not get this right, it may really open the

:31:55.:32:02.

door for Eve Muirhead. It certainly will. She has to be right on this.

:32:03.:32:11.

That is a nice shot. Certainly gives a chance for a too. -- two. A fairly

:32:12.:32:18.

straightforward one for Eve. I guess anywhere in the house for

:32:19.:32:37.

Betty to out count the yellows was good. It should be a simple draw for

:32:38.:32:42.

a two here. A positive throw. Even trying to come down and take

:32:43.:33:12.

the second shot here. You can hear the girls calling. Hopefully when

:33:13.:33:14.

the weight comes off it. There we go. Very good. So Eve Muirhead

:33:15.:33:25.

responding well and taking a two. That will make her feel a lot

:33:26.:33:36.

better. So it is all tied after two. You probably just heard Eve say that

:33:37.:33:41.

that was a good end. I think she is trying to take this on this morning,

:33:42.:33:45.

trying to encourage the rest of the team. Being a bit more verbal. They

:33:46.:33:49.

have not played all of their shots as well as they would have liked.

:33:50.:34:01.

They are tied with China. So, a crucial match. I keep saying this.

:34:02.:34:07.

The next three games, China, Korea, Japan, you win three on the run, and

:34:08.:34:11.

all of a sudden everything looks a little better, a lot rosier. You

:34:12.:34:17.

lose this one and that will be three losses from the first four matches.

:34:18.:34:24.

That would not be a terminal situation for the British women yet

:34:25.:34:27.

but it would make life very difficult indeed. So, Claire

:34:28.:34:34.

Hamilton setting yourself in the third. China with the hammer. --

:34:35.:34:42.

setting us off. Julianne playing lead for China. --

:34:43.:35:17.

Zhou. This is the quietest it has been this morning. A couple of big

:35:18.:35:26.

Chinese flags hanging down the far end, the opposite end to which

:35:27.:35:38.

Jackie and I are sitting. -- to wear Jackie and I are sitting. There has

:35:39.:35:41.

been a great atmosphere in here generally. Neither of the Russian

:35:42.:35:48.

team is doing particularly well. The Russian women have played four games

:35:49.:35:54.

now. Most have played three. All ten teams cannot play at once. They have

:35:55.:35:58.

had two wins and two losses. It is funny, obviously, the impact

:35:59.:36:28.

curling is having, hopefully at home, but here as well. Wherever we

:36:29.:36:37.

went yesterday, people are asking about that shot by Eve Muirhead. It

:36:38.:36:41.

doesn't matter if they were curling fans or not, British or not. It was

:36:42.:36:51.

certainly a talking point. Yes, I think they will be speaking about

:36:52.:36:54.

that shot for a few weeks to come. It was not the right decision. I

:36:55.:37:01.

thought the shot was on and I guess Eve did. I spoke to some of the

:37:02.:37:06.

support staff this morning and they were not quite so sure. Maybe even

:37:07.:37:21.

rushed it slightly and laid it a tiny bit high. It never came. Nice

:37:22.:37:32.

shot. Vicki Adams doing well. Imagine if it had come off. It would

:37:33.:37:38.

have gone down as one of the great shots. Yes. And that would have been

:37:39.:37:43.

the boost the girls were needing to continue in this competition. But I

:37:44.:37:49.

am sure they will have put it behind them now.

:37:50.:38:01.

I definitely see a lot of swing in this center line. The stones are

:38:02.:38:09.

moving more than I have seen them moving.

:38:10.:38:32.

The girls choosing to come in behind these two. -- the two guards at the

:38:33.:38:53.

front of the house. Of course, we don't have the last stone here, so

:38:54.:38:57.

we have to try to utilise whatever is up front to give us some

:38:58.:39:02.

protection. Hopefully we will get a steel here.

:39:03.:39:27.

Betty happy to indicate to her team to play the double rape. -- double

:39:28.:39:33.

rape. Yue playing second. Takes the two

:39:34.:40:00.

away at the front. Eve just asking Anna Sloan to put the guard open in

:40:01.:40:07.

front again. -- to put the guard in front again.

:40:08.:40:11.

She is asking for an inch over the centre. They really need this one to

:40:12.:40:42.

sit. That is not bad. Pretty good. Yes, well left by the girls. They

:40:43.:40:45.

knew it had the weight. Liu Yan playing third. This is

:40:46.:41:03.

pretty straight. It stays in there. Anna Sloan looking to shift this

:41:04.:41:48.

stone and role in behind her own. That is a pity. Yes, the girls tried

:41:49.:41:57.

hard there to hold it, keep it on that side of the house. It will give

:41:58.:42:04.

China the opportunity to try and lift the two of them forget that hit

:42:05.:42:14.

low in behind their centre. Even if she hits on the nose here and

:42:15.:42:19.

slightly sits in front of the back yellow, that is also a good shot.

:42:20.:42:29.

That is what might happen here. Trying to get the two of them away.

:42:30.:42:31.

It did not quite work. So Eve Muirhead with the chance to

:42:32.:43:17.

make life a little difficult for Betty Wang here.

:43:18.:43:38.

Betty Wang just having a look. Just looking to come right in with this

:43:39.:44:00.

one. She has got that British stone to, operate -- she has got that

:44:01.:44:05.

British stone to come up against. China deciding to play the interim

:44:06.:44:32.

draw here. -- the in turn draw. Quite happy to forget about the two

:44:33.:44:36.

British stones in the house and tried to utilise that front garden.

:44:37.:44:39.

-- try. Yes, she has played this well. Very

:44:40.:45:10.

well. Just runs on a little. Yes, I think she would have liked that to

:45:11.:45:16.

have finished maybe just a stone's with higher. Eve Muirhead will

:45:17.:45:34.

follow this down. This is a chance for Eve to do what she had been

:45:35.:45:40.

doing pretty well. Eve just wants to come down here and sit at the top

:45:41.:45:42.

there. Anna Sloan having the line. She has

:45:43.:46:05.

just gone a little further out than the stone Betty Wang just played. If

:46:06.:46:11.

the weight is good, it will come in. This has certainly got a higher line

:46:12.:46:21.

than Betty's. But when the weight comes off, the poll comes. A little

:46:22.:46:28.

smile for the first time this morning from Eve Muirhead. It is

:46:29.:46:35.

interesting, the track of those two stones. They came out much wider.

:46:36.:46:48.

Eve's stone looked a lot wider. Ban Betty's. Eve's stones of finishing

:46:49.:46:57.

begat the end and that certainly did -- Eve's stones are finishing date

:46:58.:47:05.

at the end. The Chinese skip needs to be careful here. Great Britain

:47:06.:47:13.

lying shot. They have got two in there.

:47:14.:47:20.

The last stone of this third end. Again, much tighter line here from

:47:21.:47:27.

Betty Wang. These stones are taking the finish

:47:28.:47:41.

at the end. She catches the inside of this, she could get a two out of

:47:42.:47:48.

it. Almost. They are all having a look. Maybe. Is that a steal? I

:47:49.:47:54.

think China have got the one. They might have to measure this. That was

:47:55.:48:01.

almost a good shot there from the girls. They are having a close look.

:48:02.:48:09.

Moving that went away, it is definitely between the two. It is

:48:10.:48:17.

not two shots for China. It is obvious that one is not counted.

:48:18.:48:25.

That is what Anna is saying. She is just going to leave them all in. I

:48:26.:48:38.

can understand measuring between, as we look at it, the one above the

:48:39.:48:45.

rings and the yellow. The back one is not counting. Might as well move

:48:46.:48:49.

that out of the way. This could be critical. Either way, a decent

:48:50.:48:55.

result just to give one away. Do they have a steal here? Finally the

:48:56.:49:01.

measuring device is on its way. He is being very polite and taking

:49:02.:49:22.

his time. It is very difficult. It looks like one for China to me. It

:49:23.:49:29.

is very, very close. That swings round without touching

:49:30.:49:51.

the witty stone, it is a shot for China -- the British stone. Might

:49:52.:49:55.

have to measure it a couple of times.

:49:56.:50:01.

His head is in the way. We cannot see what he is doing. There is a

:50:02.:50:11.

dial at the top which will move and he will then spin the measure around

:50:12.:50:17.

to see if any of the stones are in. He is going to take the Chinese

:50:18.:50:22.

stone away, I think. He will come round now to see whether the Chinese

:50:23.:50:27.

stone... He has moved that one which we thought... I think this is going

:50:28.:50:36.

to be a shot for China. Yes, China have one. As we thought. It was very

:50:37.:50:42.

close. That is still not bad, giving just the one away. That will mean

:50:43.:50:50.

China lead 3-2 as we move into the next end. Britain will have the

:50:51.:50:56.

hammer. A good end from Eve Muirhead and her team, starting to warm to

:50:57.:51:05.

this match. Just waiting for official confirmation to go on the

:51:06.:51:10.

scoreboard. I can confirm it for you though.

:51:11.:51:16.

Definitely a shot to China. There it is. The hammer goes to

:51:17.:51:36.

Great Britain as we move into the fourth end.

:51:37.:51:44.

Some nice shots played there. That will make Eve play a lot better. You

:51:45.:51:54.

could tell she was happy with a couple of shots she played as well.

:51:55.:51:59.

It was almost a moral victory in that end. She cut Betty down to one.

:52:00.:52:12.

China almost took two. But Eve put the pressure on.

:52:13.:52:20.

Two other matches out there at the moment. Sweden have taken a 4-1 lead

:52:21.:52:30.

against Switzerland. Don't forget that Switzerland are undefeated so

:52:31.:52:35.

far. Canada are tied up with Denmark. Canada also are undefeated

:52:36.:52:44.

so far. They are 3-3 in their match. We have to keep an eye on all of the

:52:45.:52:48.

other matches. It has a bearing of course on Great Britain. They will

:52:49.:52:55.

want to take care of business and make sure they are not relying on

:52:56.:53:00.

other teams losing to get into at least a tie-break scenario or

:53:01.:53:03.

hopefully into the top four without having to worry about tie-breaks.

:53:04.:53:22.

Both leads playing good shots here. Corner guard initially put up by

:53:23.:53:33.

Claire Hamilton. She has now got to try and utilise the corner guard to

:53:34.:53:40.

put her stack and -- her second stone around behind it.

:53:41.:53:52.

This looks good. Just turning a bit more. Yes, I think the ice is

:53:53.:54:02.

definitely moving more today. That was almost coming out the other

:54:03.:54:10.

side. They do get the chance to practice. They were in here for 30,

:54:11.:54:18.

40 minutes before the match started. Both teams got ten minutes to try

:54:19.:54:25.

and get used to the ice today. It is not the same as playing though. They

:54:26.:54:35.

like to keep themselves in the match. That was almost left too late

:54:36.:54:41.

there, I thought. Eve is going to have to try and

:54:42.:55:03.

clear the front here. We have the hammer in this end and we want to

:55:04.:55:11.

try and keep the front open. Vicki Adams coming down, plenty of weight

:55:12.:55:13.

here. She wanted to push that back onto

:55:14.:55:24.

the other Chinese stone and take both of them out. But she has taken

:55:25.:55:27.

one. She has to put that back in place. A

:55:28.:56:00.

little short, this. Working it well to bring it across.

:56:01.:56:14.

That stone did not quite finished as much as they were hoping it would.

:56:15.:56:22.

It has left half of the red that our GB girls can see. Vicki is being

:56:23.:56:30.

asked to come down here to try and hit it and roll across to the other

:56:31.:56:32.

side of the house. Just a little unlucky. But it is

:56:33.:56:51.

good, sitting there. Vicki Adams has again started well this morning.

:56:52.:57:05.

The Chinese third has been the one who has not been firing on all

:57:06.:57:13.

cylinders so far this morning and has not helped out the skip to much.

:57:14.:57:26.

-- too much. Just going to try and come around the front guard.

:57:27.:57:32.

I would have to say, the Chinese girls here are sticking to their

:57:33.:57:40.

game plan. Other teams, you may well have seen them trying to hit or chip

:57:41.:57:46.

one of the GB yellow stone is out there. But no. These girls must have

:57:47.:57:52.

been happy with the draw weight and happy to guard the one shot they

:57:53.:57:57.

have in the house. They have to be careful they do not leave us small

:57:58.:58:01.

chips and roles and it would just take one mistake from China and GB

:58:02.:58:07.

would then capitalise. We do have last stone here.

:58:08.:58:17.

Anna Sloan having to hold this, try and hold the line, try and get

:58:18.:58:26.

past. That cleans it out of the front and Eve will be trying to get

:58:27.:58:43.

a two here. Still every opportunity. HAZEL IRVINE: We will have to turn

:58:44.:58:48.

ourselves away from the curling with the promise it continues on the red

:58:49.:58:52.

button. If you want to follow this, the our guests. But we have got such

:58:53.:58:59.

a lot to get through today. One of the most exciting mornings from a

:59:00.:59:03.

British perspective of these Olympic Games. If ever there was a morning

:59:04.:59:08.

to take a slightly later train, even a lot later, it could be today. We

:59:09.:59:13.

have three British medal prospects in action.

:59:14.:59:51.

Women's skeleton is raised over four runs. To this morning, to tomorrow.

:59:52.:59:57.

We will be seeing Lizzie Yarnold and Shelley Rudman going for medals in

:59:58.:00:02.

that. This is also the morning ski slopes of Foreman makes its Olympic

:00:03.:00:13.

debut -- skis slopestyle for men. James Woods has been moves and the

:00:14.:00:16.

podium pedigree, but does he have the fitness right now? Lizzy Yarnold

:00:17.:00:27.

is a red-hot favourite for gold in the women's skeleton. She loves the

:00:28.:00:37.

Sankey track. Shelley Rudman is firmly in the reckoning as well. The

:00:38.:00:40.

pace may be slower but the tension levels are pretty high in the ice

:00:41.:00:46.

cube curling Centre. Great Britain men meet the US today. And Elise

:00:47.:00:55.

Christie joins Charlotte Gilmartin in the quarterfinals of the women's

:00:56.:01:01.

500 metres in the short schedule. So much going on this morning. Plenty

:01:02.:01:03.

of options for you as well. Our plan is to keep an eye on

:01:04.:01:26.

everything and bring you the best bits. If you want to do your own

:01:27.:01:27.

thing, you can. We are heading straight up the

:01:28.:01:57.

mountain to the Sanki Sliding Centre. It is they we will find two

:01:58.:02:02.

Olympic champions with five gold medals between them. One, a summer

:02:03.:02:10.

Olympian, and won a winter Olympian. We have got Matthew Pinsent and Amy

:02:11.:02:16.

Williams. Matt, I get the feeling that Amy would rather be competing

:02:17.:02:20.

today. Do not let her anywhere near a sled!

:02:21.:02:26.

It has been a difficult morning for Amy. You have been a bag of nerves

:02:27.:02:32.

all morning? I literally feel physically sick with nerves, with

:02:33.:02:36.

excitement, with this kind of feeling that this was me four years

:02:37.:02:40.

ago about to try to win gold. I sympathise. I know exactly what

:02:41.:02:47.

every athlete is feeling, as you do. They will be gathering in the next

:02:48.:02:52.

ten or 20 minutes. Are we going to see them visualising the course and

:02:53.:03:02.

stuff like that? Yes. They do their final preparations on the sled

:03:03.:03:05.

before they are not allowed to touch them any more. They will do their

:03:06.:03:10.

warm up and preparations. Going through the track in their head.

:03:11.:03:15.

Visualising it all. Going through every single corner. Then relaxing

:03:16.:03:20.

and getting ready. Lizzy Yarnold has been blistering in training. You

:03:21.:03:25.

have been watching a few of the training runs. What kind of shape is

:03:26.:03:32.

she in? She is in all some shape. She is one of the best in the world

:03:33.:03:37.

at the start. She has been doing so well with her line. She is doing

:03:38.:03:45.

well with her coach, Andi Schmid. I spoke to her last night. I tried to

:03:46.:03:51.

stay together, keep calm, keep cool, keep confident. She is in a good

:03:52.:03:56.

place. Do not look at any of the other athletes. We just have to hope

:03:57.:04:04.

that is enough. She gets the choice of what start slot to go for. She

:04:05.:04:11.

has chosen two. Why two in particular? Ella macro you want to

:04:12.:04:17.

go the first off. It is fast. Most people do not opt for number one.

:04:18.:04:23.

They like to see the time of another person, the condition of the track.

:04:24.:04:28.

She was quite tempted by five because that was my number. I told

:04:29.:04:37.

she had to go two. Shelley Rudman is number three. They have got the

:04:38.:04:41.

perfect ice. Shelley Rudman, not quite as good in training, it is

:04:42.:04:48.

fair to say. What do we think about her chances? Yes, Shelley has taken

:04:49.:04:53.

out little bit longer to get used the track. A little bit tricky for

:04:54.:04:59.

her. But she is a very experienced slider. Really good technical. With

:05:00.:05:07.

her equipment, I think she could come shining through. She always

:05:08.:05:11.

does well in the big events. She has got a silver medal already. This is

:05:12.:05:17.

her third Olympics. Keep an eye on her. She could get a medal. Thank

:05:18.:05:22.

you for your views. The first run is less than 90 minutes away.

:05:23.:05:30.

Looking forward to it very much. It is great to get the impression is of

:05:31.:05:34.

Amy. You can feel the nerves. I'm sure that our girls are feeling the

:05:35.:05:38.

same kind of experiences and emotions as they get ready for that

:05:39.:05:42.

run. It is such a big morning. We are looking forward to use ski

:05:43.:05:49.

slopestyle. Ed Leigh joins me. There was talk about the possibility of

:05:50.:05:53.

perhaps bringing this event forward by a few minutes because of the

:05:54.:05:56.

temperatures. I guess there is a slight concern about the integrity

:05:57.:06:01.

of the course. Very warm again. How will the landing areas hold up?

:06:02.:06:08.

Well, as you say, it is fantastic weather for sunbathing but not quite

:06:09.:06:12.

so good for slopestyle. They would be perfect training conditions. But

:06:13.:06:19.

in three or four hours, these landings will probably be six inches

:06:20.:06:24.

deep in slush. The riders leave armholes if they leave -- have a

:06:25.:06:31.

heavy landing. If somebody lands in that whole afterwords, they could

:06:32.:06:38.

get caught up. They are staying with the scheduled at the moment and we

:06:39.:06:43.

will kick off in ten minutes with the first of the qualifying runs.

:06:44.:06:47.

Many looking forward to the appearance of James Woods this

:06:48.:06:51.

morning. What do you understand is the level of fitness he has at the

:06:52.:06:57.

moment? Well, I have been watching training this morning, and he is in

:06:58.:07:02.

there. He is laying down his runs. He does not look quite as fluid as

:07:03.:07:09.

he usually does. He has bruised the socket of his hip joint by pushing

:07:10.:07:14.

the femur into it. There is a little lack of mobility. Once he gets into

:07:15.:07:18.

it, once he settles down, I think we will see him riding to his full

:07:19.:07:22.

potential. There is a nagging doubt for him. A few of the riders have

:07:23.:07:33.

been playing the top echelon of the tricks we are going to see. That was

:07:34.:07:38.

how he injured himself. Whether we will see him attempting that, I am

:07:39.:07:43.

not sure. It is going to be tense. There has been talk about the

:07:44.:07:47.

possibility of a US clean sweep. What about their chances? Nicola

:07:48.:07:59.

Scope is so confident. -- Nicholas Goepper. He was laying it on thick

:08:00.:08:08.

on Twitter yesterday. Gus Kenworthy is in there as well. There are a few

:08:09.:08:13.

other hopefuls. You have got the Australian Russell Henshaw. He is a

:08:14.:08:20.

good all-rounder. At 23 already considered a veteran. And then the

:08:21.:08:30.

three Wells brothers. Two of them could do very well. You talk to

:08:31.:08:34.

anyone here and there are probably 12 skiers who could all podium. It

:08:35.:08:45.

is wide open. Looking forward to hearing you with Tim in the

:08:46.:08:49.

commentary box. We will leave you to get ready. Those of you at home have

:08:50.:08:53.

no doubt heard of James Woods. He has been one of the most talked

:08:54.:08:56.

about British athletes in the run-up to the games. He has the podium

:08:57.:09:02.

pedigree. He has won world championship medals and X Games. He

:09:03.:09:10.

is a real character. He is a real free spirit. Helen Skelton took him

:09:11.:09:13.

back to Sheffield where it all began.

:09:14.:09:19.

I have always been a bit of a dreaming sort of person. I suppose

:09:20.:09:26.

other people watching me and being inspired by what I do, if one person

:09:27.:09:31.

looks at it and says, you know what, I am going to good -- I am going to

:09:32.:09:37.

go out there and get what I want, that is what fires me up. Just being

:09:38.:09:47.

here is nice. It is kind of cool to just enjoy being back on the streets

:09:48.:09:50.

that I know. How are you doing, dude? Do you miss Sheffield? Of

:09:51.:10:00.

course. It is your city. People clearly love seeing you. It is just

:10:01.:10:08.

friends. All my friends from school and the skiing community. What was

:10:09.:10:13.

James Lagat school? He was great. Always very active. Crewe he was

:10:14.:10:26.

always doing tricks and things. Was it hard to your parents, I want to

:10:27.:10:34.

be a skier? Think very initially. Once they realised what it was all

:10:35.:10:40.

about and kindred competitions, it was obviously what I wanted to do

:10:41.:10:44.

and what I was dying to do. So yes, they were fully on board. It was all

:10:45.:10:49.

organised. I stayed in my fair share of sofas. How did James get into it?

:10:50.:10:57.

He was doing all sports to start with. We took him for his ninth

:10:58.:11:03.

birthday to a toboggan party at Sheffield Ski Village. We always

:11:04.:11:07.

said that when he went over the top of the hill, that was the last time

:11:08.:11:13.

we ever seen him. It was skiing from then on. This is where I started. It

:11:14.:11:23.

is not exactly the same. This was my second home, really. This is the

:11:24.:11:27.

first time I have ever seen these gates shut. I have been through here

:11:28.:11:31.

summoning times, that it is pretty sad. It chokes you up a bit. And I

:11:32.:11:36.

am not just putting it on! This was a huge deal. Thousands of people

:11:37.:11:44.

must have learned to ski your? British skiing emanated from here

:11:45.:11:47.

three years. This was where it happened. It is fairly

:11:48.:11:52.

heart-wrenching, if I am completely honest. We have got some good

:11:53.:11:59.

footage and stuff, probably stuff I would rather not show you, being

:12:00.:12:04.

such a chump, skiing around here when I was younger. Some familiar

:12:05.:12:09.

faces down here. You guys are used to hang out in different continents.

:12:10.:12:15.

A lot of people probably don't appreciate what it is you do. Can

:12:16.:12:20.

you explain it? It is a mixture of rails and kickers. It is like

:12:21.:12:25.

skateboarding. You get marked on tricks. It is like a course... It is

:12:26.:12:31.

fun to watch. You have done great things for slopestyle in the UK.

:12:32.:12:38.

What have they achieved? They have achieved the impossible. They have

:12:39.:12:42.

taken it to a whole new level. They have also shown what is possible in

:12:43.:12:47.

the UK. They have shown you can come from places like this and become one

:12:48.:12:51.

of the world's best. The most important thing is making myself, my

:12:52.:12:56.

family, my friends, the country, if they will have me for it, making

:12:57.:13:00.

them proud. That would be the greatest thing.

:13:01.:13:05.

We watched Katie Summerhayes the other day in the women's slopestyle.

:13:06.:13:12.

She took seventh place. James just getting ready as we look down this

:13:13.:13:16.

pretty fearsome slopestyle course. It is his moment of truth. And

:13:17.:13:22.

indeed it is for all 32 starters in the very first Olympic men's ski

:13:23.:13:29.

slopestyle event. History beckons. It is over to Tim Warwood and Ed

:13:30.:13:31.

Leigh. Thank you, Hazel. Joining us as well

:13:32.:13:46.

is Murray Buchan, halfpipe skier. Just running through the start list

:13:47.:13:47.

at the moment. Nicholas Goepper is the name on most

:13:48.:14:10.

people's lips. Russell Henshaw carrying a bit of a knee injury. He

:14:11.:14:15.

is quite happy. It is not ideal to ride with pain but it does not seem

:14:16.:14:16.

to be slowing him down. 32 riders. The slopestyle course, if

:14:17.:14:50.

you have never come across it, is made up of six elements. You can see

:14:51.:15:00.

the rail elements at the top. Re-creations of urban legends. Then

:15:01.:15:03.

you have got three jobs getting progressively bigger as you move

:15:04.:15:06.

down the course. The first rider getting ready to drop is the

:15:07.:15:20.

Norwegian Aleksander Aurdal. I am excited about this. I am sure a

:15:21.:15:22.

Norwegian Aleksander Aurdal. I am excited about this. I am sure lot of

:15:23.:15:27.

viewers will be just as excited Azmi to know what is going to be thrown

:15:28.:15:31.

down on this course. The thing about freestyle skiing is that there is a

:15:32.:15:37.

form guide but still there are 12 riders in the final who all can

:15:38.:15:44.

podium. The standard is so close. Just a little bit of a catch their

:15:45.:15:50.

there. You would think by now that they would have gone in a little

:15:51.:16:03.

bit. Spending two and a half times there. Lovely. Looking very, very

:16:04.:16:13.

smooth so far. Landing really deep. That was a good run. Really good. He

:16:14.:16:21.

caught up on one of the rails, but the jumps were pretty solid. It

:16:22.:16:27.

looks like he missed a grab. But he should come in with a good store

:16:28.:16:35.

score. The judges do not have the luxury of reviewing the run as we

:16:36.:16:41.

do. What a great angle off that. A lot of people asking about the rail,

:16:42.:16:45.

when the snowboarders were coming through the course. It is so bigger

:16:46.:16:50.

than it looks. There are very few riders attacking the rail. He just

:16:51.:17:00.

missed it slightly. The landing is still in really good shape. Their

:17:01.:17:04.

temperature is six degrees at the moment and it will only warm up.

:17:05.:17:08.

Even in training this morning, the landing, you could see how much snow

:17:09.:17:16.

kicked up. The judges will have been watching training very, very closely

:17:17.:17:22.

to get their Ryan and make sure they have somewhere left to go. There is

:17:23.:17:28.

nothing more embarrassing. You fancy this guy, don't you? You fancy his

:17:29.:17:34.

chances, I should say. I think he has an outside shot. What are we

:17:35.:17:40.

looking for? I am not sure. I only caught him on the last jump. The

:17:41.:17:43.

curse of Murray begins. Lovely! Just sat back but got a good

:17:44.:18:05.

tap. We have seen big spins already, straightout the blocks. He couldn't

:18:06.:18:18.

hold on. It was like he had Geoff capes on his shoulders. He could not

:18:19.:18:23.

stand up. The left ski was giving him so much trouble. He could not

:18:24.:18:29.

get it under control. Seemed to just fall out of the sky onto the rail.

:18:30.:18:36.

His ski just catching up. He did not get both skis off at the same time

:18:37.:18:41.

and that can be fatal. How much does it play into their minds, you make a

:18:42.:18:45.

mistake on the top rail, are you constantly thinking about that for

:18:46.:18:49.

the rest of the run? Yeah. It puts the pressure on. Everything has to

:18:50.:18:54.

be on point to come close to getting a decent score. That is a throwaway

:18:55.:19:00.

run for him. It is quite impressive how long he managed to survive

:19:01.:19:08.

compressed on one ski at full speed. He has a lot of work to do on his

:19:09.:19:20.

second run. This man is very technical on the rails. That is

:19:21.:19:32.

true. He did not mess around. We did not see that from the snowboarders

:19:33.:19:38.

too much, using the hitching post. Yes! But was enormous.

:19:39.:19:46.

Beautiful. Spinning three times and the opposite way. Into the final

:19:47.:20:01.

bottom jump, big double 12. That has got to be a good score. That is a

:20:02.:20:13.

really nice run from Jesper. So important to have all of the

:20:14.:20:17.

elements. You need to be the whole package in slopestyle. We are also

:20:18.:20:24.

seeing from the judges and what we have seen in previous slopestyle

:20:25.:20:28.

events, they penalise mistakes from the entire run, as opposed to the X

:20:29.:20:34.

Games work perhaps a trick would be judged down. It seems here that the

:20:35.:20:42.

whole run is being penalised. They are really looking at landings as

:20:43.:20:46.

well. On his first jump, it was a little scrappy. He will be looking

:20:47.:21:00.

to improve on that on the next run. He will not be very happy with that.

:21:01.:21:04.

This is really interesting. The judges, I think, really hedging

:21:05.:21:09.

their bets. They are expecting big things and they do not want to over

:21:10.:21:16.

score too early. The 16-year-old Luca Schuler. From the home of Roger

:21:17.:21:25.

Moore. Whether we will see any James Bond skiing remains to be seen.

:21:26.:21:30.

Basic on the rail. Getting caught up on the hitching post. Hit it with

:21:31.:21:35.

too much gusto. The pressure is on for second run. We talk about how

:21:36.:21:42.

important it is to put a rundown and maybe you can back us up here. You

:21:43.:21:46.

just want to get a score on the board. But a fairly good run down, a

:21:47.:21:54.

score on the board, then you can relax in your second run. Relax and

:21:55.:21:59.

really go for it. That is what you want. You want a safer run that you

:22:00.:22:03.

know you can land to make sure you have got some points. Then with your

:22:04.:22:07.

second run, you want a tougher run so you can push for higher up

:22:08.:22:16.

sports. Luca Schuler only started Olympic qualifying, training and

:22:17.:22:19.

trying to qualify for this Olympics, in the summer. He left it quite late

:22:20.:22:23.

but he has made it into the Swiss team. He has got his older brother.

:22:24.:22:31.

I think he damaged his knee in the qualifying campaign for this. So

:22:32.:22:34.

Luca Schuler at the last minute decided the family needed an Olympic

:22:35.:22:39.

representative and stepped up to the plate. How kind of him! Invaluable

:22:40.:22:46.

experience, getting to come to a Games at this age. It would have

:22:47.:22:51.

been the same for you, Murray, if they had opened up free skiing in

:22:52.:22:56.

2010. You obviously want to send people to meddle and do well but

:22:57.:23:01.

experiences equally as valuable -- send people to medal. The man who

:23:02.:23:06.

everyone is talking about, Nick Goepper, the India under -- the

:23:07.:23:17.

Indiana kit. He laid down a perfect triple at the X Games. I doubt we

:23:18.:23:23.

will see that in qualifying. But I have been proved wrong many times

:23:24.:23:33.

before. A big topic for debate. No polls. I think he has an injured

:23:34.:23:42.

hand or rest so it is difficult for him to hold the polls. Equally as

:23:43.:23:48.

good on the jumps. My goodness! Did not have enough speed there. That

:23:49.:23:54.

was a surprise. Well, it seems that ski slopestyle is going exactly the

:23:55.:23:59.

same way as women's ski slopestyle, women's snowboard slopestyle and

:24:00.:24:03.

men's snowboard slopestyle. Does not matter who you think the favourite

:24:04.:24:12.

is, it is just all about treasure. So many mistakes. I think you have

:24:13.:24:15.

got to be sure and land the run because you never know what the

:24:16.:24:19.

other guys will do. There might be double fall is all the way down the

:24:20.:24:25.

course. There has been a feeling for me that Nick Goepper has been

:24:26.:24:28.

playing mind games and he is as worried about everyone else as his

:24:29.:24:36.

own run. Did he lacks speed or ditty think he had more time -- did he

:24:37.:24:40.

lacks speed or think he had more time? Proof then that potentially

:24:41.:24:50.

the day before does not matter one single bit. It is how you feel on

:24:51.:24:56.

the day of the event. The build up may be important but there is far

:24:57.:25:03.

more to it than just that. The 18-year-old from Sweden. Lives in

:25:04.:25:16.

stock, now. -- Stockholm. Sweden had a good show in the snowboard

:25:17.:25:23.

slopestyle. Very technical. He stopped the inertia and spins out

:25:24.:25:26.

the opposite way. Tail tap on the barrel. The hitching post, as we

:25:27.:25:35.

call it. Seems like that is quite a common line. Everyone seems to be

:25:36.:25:39.

going for that. In these conditions, it is really slushy and there.

:25:40.:25:44.

Things are slowing down and that is probably one of the lines that

:25:45.:25:47.

allows you to maintain the most speed. Super Tech. Land is so deep

:25:48.:26:01.

on that third one. Really nice. 1260 double at the bottom. That has got

:26:02.:26:13.

to take top spot, surely. Plans and spinning the opposite way -- comes

:26:14.:26:23.

out. Lovely bit of style coming off. Did not have purchase on the

:26:24.:26:30.

right leg. But he still managed to get the spring he wanted. Double

:26:31.:26:36.

flat spin nine was that and a switch 1260. They are quite rare. You will

:26:37.:26:42.

not see many of them. Beautiful style on the grabs. Contorting

:26:43.:26:49.

himself. People have been asking what tweaking means and as soon as

:26:50.:26:52.

you get a grab on something and you have three points of contact, you

:26:53.:26:56.

can start to really stretch the shapes with your body and that is

:26:57.:27:06.

tweaking something. Only 72.8 for him. The judges leaving themselves

:27:07.:27:11.

somewhere to go. They are expecting big things. The second Swiss rider

:27:12.:27:17.

we have seen. He missed the tap there.

:27:18.:27:24.

First rider of the canon that we have seen. You are not going to get

:27:25.:27:31.

away with anything on these landings. When they are this slushy,

:27:32.:27:37.

if you are not really nicely centred on the landing, it is curtains. Wave

:27:38.:27:47.

goodbye to the run. Men's ski slopestyle, the best of two runs

:27:48.:27:53.

here. Interesting seeing him go for the box. There are rails which are

:27:54.:27:58.

just like a scaffold Pike and then you have got the box which is six to

:27:59.:28:03.

eight inches wide, piece of marble or granite. The boxes are classed as

:28:04.:28:12.

much easier. That one is quite low and easy to get onto. The level of

:28:13.:28:19.

risk means that the judges mark them down slightly. The 16-year-old from

:28:20.:28:27.

Switzerland. Just 11.8, he will mark that one down to experience. Bobby

:28:28.:28:33.

Brown, the American. The first man to land a triple in the big air

:28:34.:28:37.

contest will stop people have said he is not as good under pressure.

:28:38.:28:41.

You could not have time that any better, Ed! He has had a couple of

:28:42.:28:48.

big chances, certainly around 2010, he was looking like one of the

:28:49.:28:53.

strongest skiers in the world. In recent years, he has had the

:28:54.:28:58.

opportunity to cement that reputation and he has not really

:28:59.:29:03.

taken advantage of it. What on earth has he done there? He has just put

:29:04.:29:11.

all of the pressure in the world on himself for the second run. He is a

:29:12.:29:16.

medal contender and he has had a good season and he has put it all on

:29:17.:29:21.

him. Look how good he is on the jumps. Absolutely amazing. There was

:29:22.:29:28.

the triple. My goodness! That easy. He made it look so easy. Bemused

:29:29.:29:35.

faces down in the crowd. Cannot believe it. Cannot believe it. It

:29:36.:29:44.

looked like there was a little bit of. Dot. A couple of little bomb

:29:45.:29:53.

holes from people before. Landed a bit short and he got stuck on his

:29:54.:29:57.

edges. There you go. There is the catch. Winds up into this. Goes

:29:58.:30:08.

under and looks over his shoulder to really whip it around. So square. He

:30:09.:30:15.

has fallen victim to the snow stakes. They are catching everyone

:30:16.:30:22.

-- snow snakes. I would not have thought he would have got a 3.4. He

:30:23.:30:28.

continued on the jumps. You lay a triple and you do not get a 3.4.

:30:29.:30:34.

Yeah. Let us hope this is not a precursor to some contentious

:30:35.:30:38.

judging calls. Definitely not what we want to see at this age. 21 years

:30:39.:30:46.

old from Switzerland. A man who can also boast the triple in his bag of

:30:47.:31:04.

tricks. He manages to get it around. Beautiful control. Double 12. Yes,

:31:05.:31:13.

right side. Switched left side. I think Israel section will lead him

:31:14.:31:31.

down slightly. That was a fairly solid run. He has landed. He has put

:31:32.:31:40.

a run down. I am going to put you on the spot, Murray. The judges have

:31:41.:31:44.

made some interesting decisions already. Where are you going to

:31:45.:31:49.

place this? I think if you're going to take the same lead as in the

:31:50.:31:54.

snowboarding, they are looking for immaculate execution. To I would

:31:55.:32:03.

maybe say third or fourth. -- I would maybe say third or fourth.

:32:04.:32:14.

They are very tight at the moment. Oscar Wester is leading. Equal

:32:15.:32:37.

fourth. Kai Mahler. No shortage of Swiss in the first ten. That rail

:32:38.:32:46.

looks a little bit sticky today. Nobody looks that smooth on it. He

:32:47.:33:00.

kept it very simple up top. Lovely! Nice alternative line from Kai

:33:01.:33:02.

Mahler. Big stuff. Ankles locked tightly

:33:03.:33:38.

together. I think it is the first person I have seen hit the wall

:33:39.:33:42.

right like that. I cannot remember anybody else hitting that. Left side

:33:43.:34:01.

nine. Double misty. Going forward off the job. I think is top section

:34:02.:34:09.

will let him down. Sorry, double misty nine, not 12.

:34:10.:34:20.

That is very interesting. I would've thought it would slightly lower due

:34:21.:34:30.

to his top section. I think again we are looking really clean execution.

:34:31.:34:34.

They do not want to see sketching on the landings. Antti Ollila host

:34:35.:34:52.

Finland. -- of Finland. He has only done five World Cup events. Lovely.

:34:53.:35:18.

He knew he was putting that down solid. Into an absolutely lazy 99.

:35:19.:35:35.

We will see our theory on the priority of the judges proved right

:35:36.:35:42.

now. To me, that was clean as a whistle. They will struggle to pull

:35:43.:35:48.

this one apart, I think. Really nice. He used the rail feature well

:35:49.:35:58.

without risking everything. Technically that was a 540. Oh, the

:35:59.:36:10.

style. Do you see any faults with this? All of his landings are

:36:11.:36:20.

perfect. And solid grabs as well. What makes a good landing? You do

:36:21.:36:29.

not put your hands down. Skis straight. No scrubbing around. We

:36:30.:36:38.

saw that with Katie the other day. Exactly that. The judges are looking

:36:39.:36:43.

for execution. That is what they are prioritising at the moment. It paid

:36:44.:36:51.

off Jenny on Sunday. She went Baeck and clean rather than going super

:36:52.:36:57.

technical. Russell Henshaw, at 23, he is considered a veteran at slope

:36:58.:37:06.

skiing. He has been around for so long. He says it is not ideal skiing

:37:07.:37:11.

in pain but that is how it has got to be. Very nice top two elements.

:37:12.:37:21.

He got a hand dragged on the doll. Perfect.

:37:22.:37:34.

The first nose but we have seen. -- knows butter.

:37:35.:37:45.

I think he is just happy to get a run down. He has seen how many

:37:46.:37:50.

people have struggled and fallen over. To get a good score on the

:37:51.:37:59.

board will be relieving. Barrel rolled tag over the barrel. The same

:38:00.:38:03.

with the Russian doll. He has got the grab. This is where

:38:04.:38:33.

he just spins around on take-off. The judges all over that. He has

:38:34.:38:42.

done so many contests now. He seems really relaxed. He is now that he

:38:43.:38:49.

has got a good score. Andreas Hatveit. Always happy to be skiing.

:38:50.:39:00.

One of the oldest competitors as well.

:39:01.:39:09.

Some big spins off the rails. He got a tale tap on the Russian doll.

:39:10.:39:38.

Oh, my goodness. That was amazing. Just the last landing, it looked

:39:39.:39:49.

like he sat back a touch. Just a touch. The standard the judges are

:39:50.:39:55.

expecting to see today, there has been ten days of practice for these

:39:56.:40:01.

guys. The judges have had so long to gather all the information they need

:40:02.:40:03.

about the standard of writing they are expecting to see. They are being

:40:04.:40:12.

as harsh as they possibly can. -- the standard of riding.

:40:13.:40:25.

He looked so relaxed through the middle. Look how much that means to

:40:26.:40:38.

him. Yes, the Norwegian enjoying that one. 3.4 points clear at the

:40:39.:40:44.

top of the table. This man as the pressure of the

:40:45.:41:08.

whole of the USA on his sore shoulders -- on his shoulders, I

:41:09.:41:13.

would say. You described this man, Murray, as a robot. He was born in

:41:14.:41:24.

Essex. He lives in Telluride. We should claim him for us!

:41:25.:41:52.

Oh, my goodness! Switch double court nine on the last jump. This will be

:41:53.:42:13.

interesting to see. I think this is a rangefinder. He sent this one out

:42:14.:42:21.

there. It is not the operation on his repertoire. I think he will uses

:42:22.:42:27.

second run as a practice run. You may see a triple on the last run.

:42:28.:42:34.

His switch double nine will probably turn into a switch double if he

:42:35.:42:39.

qualifies, which I suspect he will. Looking so clean on the landings as

:42:40.:42:47.

well. Beautiful bit of kung fu being channelled through that area. --

:42:48.:42:57.

through that area. Kenworthy had to play bridesmaid to Nicolas Cooper at

:42:58.:43:04.

X Games. He has got the upper hand here. Do you know much about the

:43:05.:43:14.

politics between the two? No. Friendly rivalry or arch nemesis?

:43:15.:43:26.

Friendly rivalry. The first of the three brothers from New Zealand.

:43:27.:43:38.

Sorry, two brothers. Beau-James Wells and just sire here. -- Josiah

:43:39.:43:48.

Wells. Going all the way through the double kink. I saw him in training

:43:49.:44:05.

warming up without poles. He suffers from patellar tendon gnosis. But he

:44:06.:44:10.

has got it under control in recent years. I like your description of

:44:11.:44:24.

his knees. He has got knees of cottage cheese! A really solid run.

:44:25.:44:32.

Another one who could be considered a veteran of the sport, I suppose.

:44:33.:44:38.

He broke in when he was so young. He broke on when it was 14. Amazingly,

:44:39.:44:48.

he had a couple of X Games medals and did not really get recognised in

:44:49.:44:51.

New Zealand until three skiing made it into the Olympics, and suddenly

:44:52.:44:57.

it dawned on people that they had a potential Olympic medallist on the

:44:58.:45:10.

doorstep. Should be a good score. Spinning three and a half times. If

:45:11.:45:16.

you take off forwards, you land backwards. Double means you go

:45:17.:45:23.

upside down twice during the trip. It is a corkscrew spin. You mix the

:45:24.:45:32.

horizontal and vertical access and spin like a corkscrew. -- axis. For

:45:33.:45:45.

a 23-year-old, he is rocking a man's beard. Come on, Woodsy. You

:45:46.:45:58.

are allowed to be biased, we can't. Pat has done a good job with this

:45:59.:46:03.

guy. He has been instrumental. You have been in the camp, how affected

:46:04.:46:09.

has Woodsy been by the hip brews? He has been having a tough time of it.

:46:10.:46:16.

Coming out through the bottom kink, that would really jolt the system.

:46:17.:46:22.

Super technical. The only rider opting to go down through the kink

:46:23.:46:29.

rail. Sitting back a tiny bit there. Winding up for the first kicker.

:46:30.:46:36.

Left side ten. Spinning the opposite way and into right side. Look at

:46:37.:46:43.

that grabs. Beautiful. He has spanned both ways already. Good

:46:44.:46:51.

man! A beautiful run. One slight mistake of the third rail element,

:46:52.:46:57.

potentially sitting back a bit. But that is all the judges have to pick

:46:58.:47:02.

on. His grabs were solid, he was technical through the top section.

:47:03.:47:06.

Look at that, so hard to go through a pic like that. It gave him the

:47:07.:47:14.

kick he needed to get the 450 off. A lot of different grabs as well,

:47:15.:47:19.

Woodsy. He missed the grab on the tip. Look at the tweak on this grab.

:47:20.:47:29.

His leg is pointing the opposite way! And then the October grab. That

:47:30.:47:44.

is almost his signature grab the macro octo he is basically twisting

:47:45.:47:47.

his legs the opposite way. So square on landing. It has been accused X

:47:48.:47:53.

Games judges did not recognise he was spinning his unnatural way

:47:54.:47:57.

because he is so good at it. We should perhaps explain that everyone

:47:58.:48:04.

has a natural way to spend. Good score. -- natural way to spin. Can

:48:05.:48:10.

he improve on that, Spears? I think so. Woodsy is in second place.

:48:11.:48:20.

Exactly half the field. Looking very comfortable there. Henrik Harlaut is

:48:21.:48:35.

the skier's skier. Coming off a win at the X Games. Former skier, you

:48:36.:48:40.

would say probably. How has he got on in training? He looked like he

:48:41.:48:46.

was chilling a bit. He did not do anything to technical. He has got a

:48:47.:48:52.

really technical top section already! Spinning different ways

:48:53.:48:58.

onto and off the rails. He looks like he has got an octopus in his

:48:59.:49:04.

helmet! Nose butter. Oh, my goodness. I think his trousers are

:49:05.:49:16.

coming down, actually. Oh, my goodness. Double ejector. Is he all

:49:17.:49:23.

right? Straight up. Got tangled up in that. Looks like he just

:49:24.:49:33.

overstretched that grab. The Swedes will not be happy about that. There

:49:34.:49:39.

is a lot of expectation. Really technical top section. On the rail.

:49:40.:49:52.

Span one way and then the other. But is called pretzel, tying yourself

:49:53.:50:02.

up. Love the slow Mo -- slow motion when you get to see that. You are

:50:03.:50:10.

right. His trousers were incredibly... I think his trousers

:50:11.:50:14.

actually tangled him up! That is quite phenomenal. It looks like he

:50:15.:50:19.

almost got stuck in the rotation there and couldn't figure out if he

:50:20.:50:25.

was going forwards back woods. -- forwards or backwards. Just getting

:50:26.:50:35.

down the landing lights like a rag doll. Good ice burn. Never far from

:50:36.:50:46.

a smile. One of the nicest dudes around. Everybody loves him. Back at

:50:47.:50:54.

the top. Luca Tribondeau. Lives in Austria. Two on, two off. Some

:50:55.:51:04.

people have been questioning his style a little bit. Quite stand-up

:51:05.:51:10.

kind of style. Telegraph pole, some people call it. But he does have a

:51:11.:51:19.

triple 14 on Loch. Is he going to use it now? Is he going to lay down

:51:20.:51:25.

something safe? Common sense would suggest you get a score on the

:51:26.:51:30.

board. Sat back a touch on that landing. There is the triple. And he

:51:31.:51:39.

has got it on Loch. But we have got a couple of mistakes in there. We

:51:40.:51:43.

have seen this throughout all of the slopestyle contests. The judges will

:51:44.:51:48.

not reward a big bash brash trick over execution. If you are going to

:51:49.:51:54.

stick your neck out and say, I have a triple, you have got to be able to

:51:55.:52:00.

do it cleanly. They will not reward sketchier temps. I am not saying

:52:01.:52:05.

that was sketchy -- sketchy attempts. The landing was not quite

:52:06.:52:19.

there. Double misty nine. It is the third time and, dipping your head

:52:20.:52:22.

when you are so close to the landing. Got to get that right. He

:52:23.:52:28.

looks stoked with it and rightly so. I think we will see a pregnant pause

:52:29.:52:33.

from the judges now. The longer they wait, the better the score, but they

:52:34.:52:38.

want to get this right. They are setting a precedent when they give

:52:39.:52:46.

this score out. We have got a full house here as well for ski

:52:47.:52:50.

slopestyle. It has really filled up. Apart from those seats! I think a

:52:51.:52:57.

lot of people are opting to go for the standing room at the front. A

:52:58.:53:01.

bit more atmosphere. Like a concert. Even though you have your tickets in

:53:02.:53:05.

the seat, you want to get in the mix. Who wants to sit down when you

:53:06.:53:10.

can get up and dance? They are taking a good while here. In my

:53:11.:53:16.

opinion at the moment, this is one of the most open events. If you had

:53:17.:53:22.

to pick a podium, is it possible? Would you even put your reputation

:53:23.:53:26.

on the line for that? After watching those runs, I have no idea who could

:53:27.:53:29.

take it. You still have the Americans, so... A triple and he is

:53:30.:53:38.

still just under eight points off the pace. I think he has been

:53:39.:53:43.

punished for his landings. The message is coming through loud and

:53:44.:53:51.

clear. Do it big, do it clean. French rider coming out of Annecy.

:53:52.:54:01.

Jeremy Pancras. A bit of an unknown quantity in the commentary booth,

:54:02.:54:04.

we're not going to lie to you. Solid first three elements. " early

:54:05.:54:25.

to slow that down. -- opened up. Really clean on the landing. A

:54:26.:54:31.

little bit of a pop off his tales even. Was that a double grab? I

:54:32.:54:36.

think it was. We'll have to wait for the replay. Putting it down switch,

:54:37.:54:43.

landing it backwards. That was nice. He will be happy with that. He is.

:54:44.:54:49.

Look. Nasty knee injury in April, 2013. He was out for five months.

:54:50.:54:56.

Managed to come back at the New Zealand end of the season. The seven

:54:57.:55:04.

off the canon rail. Let us take a look at these. See if you are right.

:55:05.:55:13.

This was his first. The first 900. He has gone left side. There is one

:55:14.:55:24.

grab. Two. Almost two. Safety. Bit of a boot grab there. Quite clean.

:55:25.:55:33.

The landings are clean. Again we get another indication of whether they

:55:34.:55:37.

are picking up most on landings or form in the air. How much does style

:55:38.:55:45.

play in this? Interesting celebration! Definitely got a few

:55:46.:55:50.

laughs down in the gallery as well. Interesting. We have a woman stood

:55:51.:55:58.

in front of the booth at the moment in rabbit ears. 68. Maybe not quite

:55:59.:56:09.

the technicality the judges were looking for. The aerial shot of this

:56:10.:56:13.

course is stunning. It looks like a computer game. Another big-name in

:56:14.:56:26.

the world of free skiing. Norwegian. Has not had the most

:56:27.:56:32.

decorated season in the last year, but his reputation should be enough

:56:33.:56:36.

to strike fear into the hearts of the other competitors.

:56:37.:56:50.

Overcooked that a bit. He threw so hard, didn't he? Interesting. He was

:56:51.:57:02.

obviously pre-empting slowing the rotation down by adding a bit more

:57:03.:57:06.

style or tweak into the middle. I think he just missed the grab

:57:07.:57:12.

slightly. Then he was not able to tweak it and slow the rotation. He

:57:13.:57:18.

was accelerating through it. Yeah. That was lovely. My mistake. He got

:57:19.:57:30.

it on there. Skis and poles everywhere on the landing. The walk

:57:31.:57:35.

of shame back up to get his skiing pole. He is one of the riders who

:57:36.:57:45.

has a reputation for going big or going home, you might say. He has

:57:46.:57:51.

spent a lot of time out for injury. On this kind of stage, the Olympics,

:57:52.:57:55.

he will not be doing half measures. No, he is not doing anything to

:57:56.:58:05.

dispel that nickname, either. Antoine Adelisse of France. Comes

:58:06.:58:14.

from one of the resorts that hosted the Olympics in 92 or 94. 94 it

:58:15.:58:21.

would have been. The year after they took the and picks out of sync with

:58:22.:58:31.

the Summer Games. Lili Hammer, 92. Certainly looking tidy at the

:58:32.:58:36.

moment. Got a fifth at the World Championships last year.

:58:37.:58:44.

Big 1260. Little hand down on the landing. Switch 99. He was going to

:58:45.:58:57.

over rotate that slightly. When we talk about switch, just as in

:58:58.:59:01.

snowboarding, the skier is travelling backwards. In comparison

:59:02.:59:04.

to snowboarding, it is more obvious with the freestyle skiing when you

:59:05.:59:11.

are going back woods. Antoine Adelisse getting a lot more purchase

:59:12.:59:22.

of the canon rail. It is interesting watching the freestyle skiing. You

:59:23.:59:26.

have got so many elements. Instead of one snowboard, you have to skis

:59:27.:59:31.

and two poles. When it looks good, it looks like an Apache helicopter.

:59:32.:59:37.

When it is bad, it looks like someone throwing a model aeroplane

:59:38.:59:39.

into a ceiling fan. It's just flying everywhere. Difficult landing there.

:59:40.:59:48.

The judges being so fussy this morning. There is no room for error.

:59:49.:59:56.

Punished. Essentially he landed on the skis and rode away from every

:59:57.:00:04.

jump. My goodness. First runs, about three quarters of the way through.

:00:05.:00:10.

Great Britain's James Woods is in second. The Australian is just

:00:11.:00:17.

outside top three, Russell Henshaw. Very close schools up there. Three

:00:18.:00:24.

points separating the top four -- very close schools. The younger

:00:25.:00:34.

brother of the snowboarder we saw in the men's slopestyle. Just catching

:00:35.:00:42.

his ski. Can you imagine the sibling rivalry after this? If he gets a

:00:43.:00:48.

medal... Into the compression and onto the wall ride. Nice little flip

:00:49.:00:56.

out of the wall ride. Big ten. Right side... Going for the left side.

:00:57.:00:59.

Unnatural. 12. A switch 12 to finish. It says he

:01:00.:01:19.

does soften nerves occasionally on the big stage. He seems to have

:01:20.:01:27.

built with it fairly well there. -- dealt with it. You are not wrong,

:01:28.:01:36.

look has dealt with it there. A big tail grab. He puts the landing gear

:01:37.:01:46.

down. It is nice. Then there is the switch 12. Clean as you like. The

:01:47.:01:55.

grab is grabbing the opposite ski with your hand... Your arm crosses

:01:56.:02:05.

your body to grab the opposite ski. That is what I meant to say! That

:02:06.:02:13.

has got to be top three. It is brave, doing that, with these

:02:14.:02:20.

judges. They have made me and Ed look foolish more often than not.

:02:21.:02:23.

They haven't needed a lot of help, mind you! Oh, we are waiting a long

:02:24.:02:35.

time. His heart will be racing, waiting for that score. I think the

:02:36.:02:43.

one constant we have seen across-the-board in slopestyle is

:02:44.:02:46.

that it is wise heads, people who have stayed calm and mature. He is

:02:47.:02:58.

eighth! Take that from the judges. I am baffled by that. I think they

:02:59.:03:09.

listen to our commentary. Marcus Eder from Italy, following in the

:03:10.:03:13.

long tradition of Italian skiers with very Austrian names.

:03:14.:03:23.

450 on the gap rail, 270 out. He has come off early. He couldn't hold it.

:03:24.:03:37.

He has only made six World Cup starts. He won the 2010 big air

:03:38.:03:46.

contest. He has gone down. Marcus has won a free ride world tour. To

:03:47.:03:54.

be a big Mountain skier and also to try and get amongst it with the

:03:55.:03:59.

slopestyle, they are kind of ying and yang in the ski world as far as

:04:00.:04:08.

discipline goes. The free ride world tour stuff usually comes after a

:04:09.:04:18.

slopestyle career. You have to do so -- spent so long perfecting the

:04:19.:04:22.

tricks. It is usually when you are after some softer landings. He was

:04:23.:04:27.

just looking to cross the skis up in the grab. Is it fair to say as a

:04:28.:04:39.

freestyle skier, pretty much the moment you leave the lift, you know

:04:40.:04:44.

if you are going to land or not. Yes, if the speed is difficult, you

:04:45.:04:48.

don't know if it will stick up on you. 20th for Eder of Italy.

:04:49.:05:04.

Interesting seeing Goepper down in 19th. The top 12 riders will advance

:05:05.:05:16.

to the final. The highest score from their two runs will count. Bryson

:05:17.:05:20.

and from Finland, the second finish here we have seen --

:05:21.:05:29.

he got caught up again out of the first rail. I wrote on the chairlift

:05:30.:05:39.

with this guy, all of his family were coming to watch him, they were

:05:40.:05:43.

saying how the media are starting to pick up on it in Finland. We had a

:05:44.:05:49.

long chat about the fact that Finland is now delivering summary

:05:50.:05:53.

strong freestyle skiers. It's snowboarding reputation has perhaps

:05:54.:06:00.

fallen off a bit. The first two jump tricks looking really nice. Switch

:06:01.:06:03.

12 to finish. Left side as well. I think he did a switch flat ten on

:06:04.:06:18.

the second jump, I have not seen any of those so far. Riding backwards,

:06:19.:06:23.

doing three spins and landing backwards. Not going upside down. We

:06:24.:06:33.

have seen a lot of double Cork tens and switch double Cork tens but not

:06:34.:06:39.

so many flat ones. We really were expecting the doubles and the

:06:40.:06:42.

Troubles to come to the top and that would be the trick of the day. --

:06:43.:06:49.

doubles and triples to come to the top. They are going to be looking

:06:50.:06:59.

for flat spins and a demonstration of corks. If your whole run is

:07:00.:07:07.

corked all the way down... Technical difficulty is one of the main thing

:07:08.:07:10.

is the judges are looking for. When you slow you are going -- when you

:07:11.:07:14.

show your going upside down and you can do flat spins and rails, that is

:07:15.:07:20.

when you will plant the points. I think this could be up there. I am

:07:21.:07:25.

putting my neck out. I am not quite convinced. Really? No. I will eat my

:07:26.:07:39.

words again. Thanks, judges! I think that is the end of your speculation

:07:40.:07:40.

career... Good enough for 14th for Raisanen, a

:07:41.:07:53.

lot of work to do for him. Pat Joe has not got any goals on. -- Patja

:07:54.:08:10.

has not got any goggles on. You are going to be hitting the kickers at

:08:11.:08:17.

35 miles an hour, surely his eyes will be watering. He actually face

:08:18.:08:23.

planted them, with no goggles on. There is a good chance he has got

:08:24.:08:30.

snow burn on his nose. Goggles protect your face a bit. I had a

:08:31.:08:35.

friend, the only time I have seen it... His goggle lens was

:08:36.:08:41.

cracked... We shouldn't start talking about horrible injuries. A

:08:42.:08:49.

big move. It looked like he was heavy on the nose of his ski and

:08:50.:08:54.

they shot out behind him. Getting an amazing follow cam shot there.

:08:55.:09:07.

Let's see this landing. They just shoot out. He looked on point until

:09:08.:09:21.

then. 10.84 Patja, the judges are impatient, waiting for him to come

:09:22.:09:32.

to the bottom. -- 10.8 for Patja. You can hear the amount of calls

:09:33.:09:46.

going out for Kristiansen, Christensen, a very popular guy.

:09:47.:09:54.

Lovely, so delicate and precise with his contact. Just to initiate the

:09:55.:10:01.

rotation. Really big, and combined with the rail section up top, a big

:10:02.:10:12.

double ten. A bit over the nose, didn't seem to upset his rhythm.

:10:13.:10:20.

Back-to-back tens. Very tight from Christensen. In the second jumping

:10:21.:10:29.

at the double Cork 1080. Both switch double tens. It is like left and

:10:30.:10:37.

right. Just showing variation for the judges. He will be happy with

:10:38.:10:44.

the run. It will be like writing Ulysses with your left and right

:10:45.:10:51.

hand at the same time... How long is it? 3000 pages. There is the double

:10:52.:11:02.

grab, the truck driver. You just saw a little flecks. It is one of the

:11:03.:11:10.

few mistakes. One of the few mistakes you could latch onto. A

:11:11.:11:19.

slightly early let go of the grab. I can't believe the detail we are

:11:20.:11:23.

having to go into. It is huge from Christensen. They really, really are

:11:24.:11:32.

looking for execution. He went really big, he sent it so deep into

:11:33.:11:39.

the landings. He left it really, really late coming into this event.

:11:40.:11:44.

The other thing to remember, he had a really strong rail section. The

:11:45.:11:51.

youngest of the Wells brothers. His dad is standing next to him, he has

:11:52.:11:56.

three sons here at the Olympics. It is pretty clear, he said, I don't

:11:57.:12:03.

put any punches with the boys, I don't give them false hope. I am

:12:04.:12:09.

pretty sure he would have told him...

:12:10.:12:15.

Very nice! He will have to try to get some speed from somewhere. The

:12:16.:12:25.

speed was sucked out of the trip but he has found speed for the kick and

:12:26.:12:31.

he has got the landing down. The right side double 1080, he learned

:12:32.:12:34.

that in training a couple of days ago. He got caught up in the snow.

:12:35.:12:43.

That is such a shame. It was going really well. There was a feeling in

:12:44.:12:49.

the Wells camp that they were happy to talk about, that Beau-James was

:12:50.:13:01.

gaining experience for PyeongChang, a final place would be seen as a

:13:02.:13:06.

victory for him. We have been calling that the butter box and he

:13:07.:13:10.

was the first person to butter on and get amongst it on the Canon

:13:11.:13:14.

rail. If you are wondering what we are talking about, a butter comes

:13:15.:13:18.

from the feeling you get from buttering a piece of toast so you

:13:19.:13:23.

are using the skis in the same way, you're getting onto the tips of the

:13:24.:13:26.

tail and trying to wash through them. 36 for Beau-James Wells. One

:13:27.:13:35.

of four brothers, Jackson is the youngest, he is the only one not at

:13:36.:13:39.

these Games. The hope is he will be there in 2018. Now Mayr of Germany.

:13:40.:13:54.

He got in last minute, I think there was a problem with qualification but

:13:55.:14:00.

he is here and he is a good rider. He lives in in Brook, one of the

:14:01.:14:04.

best cities that has direct at first two mountains. -- that has direct

:14:05.:14:08.

access to Mountain 's. Right side double ten, solid. In two

:14:09.:14:34.

double Mr E ten. -- into double misty ten. He went dead straight up

:14:35.:14:44.

the face. We have not seen many of them, I think he was the first to do

:14:45.:14:57.

the double. Switch 270 on, 270. I think he will be punished for that.

:14:58.:15:02.

They were to be simple trick without a grab. He is left hanging

:15:03.:15:13.

there.... A big switch 99. He switched off the grab. Here is the

:15:14.:15:22.

double misty, the safety grab. He puts it down solid. The judges are

:15:23.:15:32.

being so fussy, they are not getting the benefit of these slow-mo replays

:15:33.:15:35.

so they have got to make the right call. Well, he is happy. He is

:15:36.:15:45.

stoked. He has got an extra layer of padding, it looks packed tight. The

:15:46.:15:54.

fourth of the Finland skiers, he lives in Helsinki. We are waiting a

:15:55.:16:05.

long time for the score. It will be interesting to see what comes in.

:16:06.:16:15.

They are having a good thing. I am going out on a limb,

:16:16.:16:38.

They are having a good thing. I am sport. We should be able to have an

:16:39.:16:42.

educated guess, but it has been so difficult, and the judges do not

:16:43.:16:47.

have the luxury of the replays, they have got to make a call.

:16:48.:16:50.

Straightaway, the message they have sent is, is it clean? Every landing

:16:51.:16:57.

has got to be clean, every grad has got to be intact. And, is it big? I

:16:58.:17:05.

am not going to go with a big score, I think you will struggle to

:17:06.:17:11.

make the top ten. It is only the first run of the qualifiers, 32

:17:12.:17:17.

skiers each get a run, and the top 12 advance to the final. Milk it,

:17:18.:17:27.

you have got plenty of time. Good call! Finally, we get something

:17:28.:17:38.

right! Another four skiers to drop. The next, the youngest of the

:17:39.:17:50.

Finland skiers. He sat back there. He has given up straightaway, did

:17:51.:17:56.

not bother with the second element. A nice backflip 180. That was

:17:57.:18:04.

awesome! If he can lay this rundown, that

:18:05.:18:27.

will look really nice. Impressive. Imagine how nice that fails, you

:18:28.:18:31.

took up into the second. That is completely blind, you get a glimpse

:18:32.:18:38.

of landing twice. But the moment you take off, you see the landing, then

:18:39.:18:44.

it disappears for a long time. You will not know you have landed it

:18:45.:18:53.

until you have landed it. Victory, the leap of faith. He talks it a bit

:18:54.:19:03.

to give himself a look. It takes a lot of bottle, you have to stop

:19:04.:19:07.

looking, and your head goes straight back. If you look over the shoulder,

:19:08.:19:14.

it affects how the trick reacts in the air. Your rotation will change.

:19:15.:19:20.

Next up, the 22-year-old from France. Oh, no! That is so

:19:21.:19:34.

humiliating. You know that all of your friends and family are

:19:35.:19:40.

watching. It is crushing in terms of confidence.

:19:41.:19:48.

Just going to practice his run now. Work is way through. That was

:19:49.:20:00.

massive. It was huge. He got the really laid-back tail grab on it as

:20:01.:20:06.

well. There is a lot of room for U2 go a lot bigger, there is no chance

:20:07.:20:12.

of overshooting. They are so steep, as well.

:20:13.:20:26.

Undoubtedly going to put this one down to experience. Very ragged.

:20:27.:20:37.

Using it as a training run for his second run. The slush eating riders

:20:38.:20:48.

up. When these landings were icy earlier in the week, it was bouncy,

:20:49.:20:54.

but now, the slush is grabbing hold of you. It is catching skis, poles,

:20:55.:21:00.

arms and legs, it makes for difficult conditions. When it starts

:21:01.:21:07.

to pull at body parts as well. 24 years old, from the Czech Republic.

:21:08.:21:20.

Off early. His results do not suggest that he will be threatening

:21:21.:21:25.

the finals, but you never know. If he can get a big, clean run out? He

:21:26.:21:36.

chose the jump option. He stood up on it quite a lot, very upright. He

:21:37.:21:40.

has not got enough speed. He just made it over. Nice and clean on the

:21:41.:21:55.

last jump. But it is almost the judges' mantra, it has got to be big

:21:56.:22:00.

and clean. The second jump was anything but big. He will be happy

:22:01.:22:05.

with that, though. He should have a score on the board which is

:22:06.:22:11.

reasonable. We only have one wider left to go, so we can start having a

:22:12.:22:16.

good look through the scores. If you are landing a run, top to bottom,

:22:17.:22:24.

you are 50 and above. But there is a threshold around the low 70s, which

:22:25.:22:30.

is 11th place currently, and that'll be the finals, when we look at the

:22:31.:22:36.

second runs. You will have to be site -- high 70s, many men, for a

:22:37.:22:46.

final place. The judges caving -- giving him a standard score for

:22:47.:22:50.

making it to the bottom and not falling over. The Russian. On home

:22:51.:22:58.

soil. You listen to the crowd for now. 20 weight -- 28 years old, the

:22:59.:23:04.

oldest rider in the men's slopestyle.

:23:05.:23:13.

The first time we have seen that. Fairly basic at the moment, though.

:23:14.:23:22.

He over rotates, but he does well to save it.

:23:23.:23:31.

It looked like he got caught up on the take-off. A big seven to finish.

:23:32.:23:41.

The Russians cheering him into the finish area. He will not be too

:23:42.:23:53.

happy with that. He managed to overshoot the landing on the

:23:54.:23:54.

hitching post. Currently sat in 50 Sixth Place on

:23:55.:24:12.

the World Cup. I love that angle, it gives you an idea of how long the

:24:13.:24:17.

take-off is. A big 360 on the last jump. Jumps can be built in so many

:24:18.:24:23.

different ways. It is called a kicker or a wedge, the start of the

:24:24.:24:28.

jump. The once they have built here are really long and smooth, they do

:24:29.:24:30.

not give you much pop. He has got to move up around 30

:24:31.:24:45.

points on his second run if he wants to have a sniff of the finals. James

:24:46.:24:49.

Woods in third place. The Frenchman on the bubble of

:24:50.:25:05.

qualification for the finals. James Woods in a good position with

:25:06.:25:18.

the second run to come. I understand that you have had a

:25:19.:25:30.

rotten night in the UK, hurricane force nights's wins, so we hope we

:25:31.:25:36.

can cheer up your day today on this Thursday morning. I have decent news

:25:37.:25:42.

from the curling, Great Britain's women are seven - five up in the

:25:43.:25:47.

ninth end against China. We are keeping our fingers crossed. And, it

:25:48.:25:52.

is a big morning for Rick -ish middle hopes, because we have got

:25:53.:25:56.

the start of the women's skeleton, Great Britain has always done well,

:25:57.:26:03.

achieving medals every time it has been held. Lizzy Yarnold and Shelley

:26:04.:26:11.

Rudman will be flying the flag for Great Britain today, they have to

:26:12.:26:14.

runs today, followed by two more tomorrow, to decide the gold medal

:26:15.:26:19.

places. Amy Williams 14 years ago in Vancouver. Let's get her to show us

:26:20.:26:23.

the Sanki Sliding Centre. Here we are at the Sanki Sliding

:26:24.:26:36.

Centre for the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge. 17 corners, it has been

:26:37.:26:42.

made beautifully, the best track I have ever seen. This start is

:26:43.:26:48.

beautiful, long, flat, the athletes will have to decide when to go on to

:26:49.:26:54.

the sled. It is designed for the Russians, they are very good

:26:55.:27:00.

starters. Especially the men. The push is really important, and

:27:01.:27:04.

continue that through the first few corners. They do not want to hit or

:27:05.:27:09.

skid, you just want to keep the power from the start. This is where

:27:10.:27:13.

the technical part of the track starts. Three uphill sections in

:27:14.:27:22.

this track, really unique, no track has had that before. One of them

:27:23.:27:28.

comes out of this corner. You do not notice it when the athletes go down,

:27:29.:27:33.

has steep it is, but if they are lying on the ice, they will see the

:27:34.:27:38.

uphill. It is important they do not move around, because they will be

:27:39.:27:43.

skidding. If they hit a wall here, they will be wasting a lot of time.

:27:44.:27:52.

It is pretty steep on the way down, a 19% drop.

:27:53.:28:03.

A big corner, 4.5 G pressure. Three oscillations, three ways that they

:28:04.:28:12.

are going to steer out. It is really hard to see what the corner looks

:28:13.:28:19.

like. This is corner 12 and 13, into 14, vital, the athletes will

:28:20.:28:23.

probably take a clip on the left to find themselves up. But for corners

:28:24.:28:30.

left, and corners, keep the speed. Position is vital, aerodynamics

:28:31.:28:39.

really important now. Exit 17, finish line just there, hopefully,

:28:40.:28:45.

if everything has gone to plan, you get over in a really good time. The

:28:46.:28:50.

track is wonderful, the ice is wonderful, and I have high hopes for

:28:51.:28:52.

Team GB, the men and women. Here we go, 1500 metres of ice, four

:28:53.:29:06.

runs for gold, and it starts now. This is the scene in the Sanki

:29:07.:29:13.

Sliding Centre. Amy Williams is in the commentary box with Colin Bryce

:29:14.:29:16.

and Paul Dickenson. The British are going early. Describe the scene for

:29:17.:29:21.

us as we get ready for the crucial first run.

:29:22.:29:31.

COMMENTATORS: It is absolutely superb.

:29:32.:29:37.

Just watching one or two of the athletes at the moment. Generally

:29:38.:29:46.

speaking, the crowd at the finish are being very vocal. It certainly

:29:47.:29:55.

is a feast for sore eyes. There are some Russian hopefuls today. They

:29:56.:30:02.

could all get medals. We are hoping that the British girls will do

:30:03.:30:06.

particularly well. Lizzy Yarnold will go second down the hill,

:30:07.:30:10.

Shelley Rudman is third, they chose those positions. Lizzie had the

:30:11.:30:16.

chance to choose what ever position she wanted. Pikus-Pace chose first.

:30:17.:30:27.

We don't know what sort of form she is in, her training has been

:30:28.:30:33.

spasmodic. She is a former world champion, she was fourth in the last

:30:34.:30:40.

Olympic Games, she can slide. Amy, we know that Pikus-Pace is not the

:30:41.:30:44.

best of starters but she tends to make it up down the track. Yes, that

:30:45.:30:53.

was a great start from her. She has only been on this track a few times.

:30:54.:30:59.

So far a good, solid looking run. A tiny skid in the tricky section. The

:31:00.:31:06.

exit of nine through 210 is a tricky changeover. They don't have quite as

:31:07.:31:13.

much control of the skeletons as they do the

:31:14.:31:17.

you have to get your sled set up perfectly. She has had a few skids

:31:18.:31:29.

and think she will be more nervous from the lack of training runs. That

:31:30.:31:34.

is her husband, cheering her on at the bottom. I think she is pretty

:31:35.:31:40.

please, it is a track record to start off with. The old track record

:31:41.:31:51.

is 58 .98. The ice must be in tremendous condition. We knew that

:31:52.:31:56.

coming into this contest. That is half the battle, having perfect ice.

:31:57.:32:01.

The ice is amazing, this is the best track I have ever seen. It is really

:32:02.:32:09.

perfect conditions. The Russians have done proud. If any British

:32:10.:32:15.

spectators are wondering who this lady is, Elizabeth Yarnold, she has

:32:16.:32:22.

been around for a few years now. She has already won a world

:32:23.:32:26.

championship. She has already won four World Cups and now she's going

:32:27.:32:31.

for Olympic gold. She won the World Cup season this year. That is able

:32:32.:32:36.

power start, that is tremendous. It is even quicker than the old start

:32:37.:32:42.

record. Yarnold has powered it off, nothing conservative about that. No,

:32:43.:32:48.

she has given it all, she has gone for it. Her form is perfect, head

:32:49.:32:52.

down, shoulders down, feet together, so much more aerodynamic

:32:53.:32:59.

and clean lines so far. Over a quarter of a second up on her number

:33:00.:33:05.

one rival, this is phenomenal. Unbelievable, so exciting to watch,

:33:06.:33:09.

she has nailed her training, she has so much confidence and you can see

:33:10.:33:16.

that. She lost a little bit of time from 11 to 14. She is still over two

:33:17.:33:27.

tenths up. She has beaten it by a quarter of a second. Another track

:33:28.:33:35.

record. This competition has got off to a blistering start. First of all,

:33:36.:33:41.

a track record by Pikus-Pace. And secondly by Lizzy Yarnold. She is

:33:42.:33:48.

going to be happy, she took the clip out of 11. 12 and 13 is a wobbly

:33:49.:33:57.

straight. It is an uphill section so that is one area that could have

:33:58.:34:01.

lost her time. That little kink in there, the tap

:34:02.:34:07.

is probably better than trying to make any kind of steer. Sometimes it

:34:08.:34:12.

is easy to take the tap bunfight the steer. -- to take the tap than fight

:34:13.:34:24.

the steer. Shelley Rudman has been around for quite some time, she was

:34:25.:34:29.

six at the last Olympic Games. She was second in 2006. -- she

:34:30.:34:40.

she starts her Olympic campaign here, she gets away well. She is

:34:41.:34:48.

already giving away the best part of two tenths of a second to Yarnold.

:34:49.:34:52.

She is a lighter athlete, not as powerful in the start but this is a

:34:53.:34:57.

long track. It gives somebody of the experience of Shelley Rudman the

:34:58.:35:03.

chance to reel it back. She doesn't have the momentum, she will have to

:35:04.:35:08.

really work it down the bottom. Between corners five and 15 is

:35:09.:35:11.

written technical, you have got to nail those lines, that is where you

:35:12.:35:16.

will get your speed. Her run is looking solid. She has struggled in

:35:17.:35:20.

those major uphill sections in training but she is looking good so

:35:21.:35:26.

far. Around 14, back up the hill, she took a clip, she will have lost

:35:27.:35:31.

like a bit of speed, she will not trouble Yarnold now. Shelley Rudman

:35:32.:35:37.

is coming through and just finishing in third place. She is behind

:35:38.:35:46.

Pikus-Pace. And that really was a disappointing run for Shelley

:35:47.:35:52.

Rudman. Yes, she took the same clip as Lizzie but it affected her more,

:35:53.:35:57.

she hit it harder which pinged her across onto the other side of the

:35:58.:36:01.

wall and would have slowed her down. Unfortunate for Shelley, a bit of

:36:02.:36:07.

the wrong angle. She took that hit out of 14. Another big hit. Shelley

:36:08.:36:19.

Rudman, currently in third place. STUDIO: A blistering start from

:36:20.:36:25.

Lizzy Yarnold and Shelley Rudman also completing her first run. We

:36:26.:36:31.

are going straight, this is Goepper of the United States as we go to be

:36:32.:36:36.

second run of collar for the nation in the men's slopestyle. -- second

:36:37.:36:41.

run of qualification. COMMENTATORS: Goepper is on his

:36:42.:36:49.

second run. So important that he lands this. One of the few riders

:36:50.:36:55.

without poles, stylistically it is a brave new world. But he is claiming

:36:56.:37:02.

that one. Do you agree? I think it was an excellent run, his scraps

:37:03.:37:06.

were solid, his landings were perfect. I am going to put my neck

:37:07.:37:10.

on the line and say it could be first. We have all been humiliated

:37:11.:37:19.

by difficult judging decisions. It becomes really clear they want it

:37:20.:37:30.

clean and big. Goepper just inched ahead of Kenworthy at the X games to

:37:31.:37:38.

earn half weeks ago. He went big on every jump and he will get rewarded

:37:39.:37:45.

for that. A crossover in the skis, so much style. Ride side ten with a

:37:46.:37:53.

handful of grabs in there by the look of it. It was like pick and

:37:54.:38:02.

mix. Just pure elation. After a difficult first run, he gets an 87

:38:03.:38:07.

for his second run. It slots him in just behind James Woods. Woods is

:38:08.:38:21.

still in third. In second place, Haatveit and in third, Christensen.

:38:22.:38:29.

Everyone else in the top five still has their second run to go. -- in

:38:30.:38:37.

first, Christensen. Wester is one of the skiers we thought would score

:38:38.:38:40.

quite highly in his first run. But the judges did not agree. Let's see

:38:41.:38:46.

if he can find what they are looking for on this run. He has that double

:38:47.:38:56.

cork 1440. Going upside down twice, spinning around four times. Double

:38:57.:39:08.

flat spin nine. And a beautiful landing, really deep. Lost a bit of

:39:09.:39:13.

speed as he took off. Switch double 12, have not seen many of them.

:39:14.:39:19.

There is that double 12, he couldn't hold it! Did you see how wide his

:39:20.:39:26.

skis were as he took off? He took so much power into that. Just leaving

:39:27.:39:33.

the tip of the right ski down for the tap on the post. Two on,

:39:34.:39:47.

pretzel, two. The pretzel is when you use the rail and then you have

:39:48.:39:52.

to generate the opposite direction. Very technical. -- generate spin in

:39:53.:40:00.

the opposite direction. Was that a 1620? He got it down to his feet. It

:40:01.:40:11.

was four and a half spins. Unlucky for Wester. A good indication of how

:40:12.:40:16.

hot it has been here. Usually you don't get a tan until spring.

:40:17.:40:33.

A late 180 over the hitching post. He comes off early on the down box.

:40:34.:40:46.

That was nice, though. Took a lot of speed out of it, as well. Right

:40:47.:40:58.

side, double ten. Left side, double ten... No, double 12, nice! Into

:40:59.:41:09.

Switch double Misty. It was a blur of skis and polls. -- and ski poles.

:41:10.:41:21.

We always talk about style in the air and you have so much going on,

:41:22.:41:26.

if you get it right it looks beautiful. The moment it starts to

:41:27.:41:29.

look uncomfortable, all of the tell-tale signs are there. The ski

:41:30.:41:37.

poles start waving and it can look ugly. Nice and compose, the skis

:41:38.:41:46.

cost, a good landing. And then this, the high mute switch double Misty

:41:47.:41:54.

nine. Talk us through that, the high mute is the grab. Yes, he is taking

:41:55.:41:59.

off backwards. If you watched his pop off the jump, he pops up 180s

:42:00.:42:08.

into the double Misty and he does two flips and comes back out

:42:09.:42:14.

forward. The Misty is where you let the rotation drift off and get your

:42:15.:42:18.

weight into the jump. Bobby Brown, he is one of the best skiers in the

:42:19.:42:22.

world, but he suffers under pressure. He dropped his first trick

:42:23.:42:30.

there, he got a 3.4 despite carrying on his run and doing a triple. We

:42:31.:42:35.

have already seen his triple. If the top section of the course is clean,

:42:36.:42:40.

we should get to see it again on the third jump. 899. -- they --

:42:41.:42:58.

he is playing it safe. And that was very clean, very safe, very big. We

:42:59.:43:09.

can give you an idea of how big they are. What we are starting to see now

:43:10.:43:15.

is probably the nerves settling for a lot of riders, thinking, this is

:43:16.:43:22.

it, but also, we are just starting to see not crazy runs. They are

:43:23.:43:28.

thinking, actually, I don't have to go mad now. Just put a run down and

:43:29.:43:34.

get a score on the board. I don't think Bobby Brown had settled down,

:43:35.:43:38.

think it was relief on his face. He looked drawn, like he was under a

:43:39.:43:46.

lot of pressure. He was down on the panel to. And then this one... The

:43:47.:43:55.

left side. You are talking about double cork tens and they are

:43:56.:44:00.

slowing them down. It looks like a 720 of ten years ago, the amount of

:44:01.:44:04.

time they have in the air and the way they are styling these big

:44:05.:44:11.

rotations. We have just seen a 1620 and that is where they are working

:44:12.:44:12.

hard. Ninth place for Bobby Brown. That

:44:13.:44:17.

will be close for him. As it stands, we have got

:44:18.:44:36.

Christensen in first, James Woods of Great Britain in third. Dropping in

:44:37.:44:53.

now with Amnuehl of Switzerland. Looking really relaxed through these

:44:54.:45:03.

top elements. The weakness to this man's armour is said to be the

:45:04.:45:08.

rails. He helped that well. It looks like he is struggling for speed a

:45:09.:45:17.

bit. A switch 12. He has thrown hard into that. Look at that, claiming

:45:18.:45:25.

without looking where he is going. He set out really hard then slowed

:45:26.:45:27.

down on the last jump. You think that the rails could be

:45:28.:45:37.

his weakness. I do not think he has played it safe by any stretch, he is

:45:38.:45:42.

making it the full length of the rail, he has not come off early, OK,

:45:43.:45:51.

that was a slap rather than a grab, but he really starts to turn it on

:45:52.:45:57.

on the kickers. It will be the landing of his right side double

:45:58.:46:02.

ten, double 12, sorry, that will let him down. Once been, free spins, a

:46:03.:46:16.

half. He really put that down. On the trailing arm, beautiful, he had

:46:17.:46:18.

it under control. He will not be happy with that. I am

:46:19.:46:35.

really surprised. Is he getting punished that badly for a slight

:46:36.:46:44.

sketch on the landing? The Swiss just outside the finals positions, a

:46:45.:46:48.

lot of work to do. Really nice and stylish. He comes off a bit early on

:46:49.:47:01.

the top rail. He has been working at switching up his repertoire, he has

:47:02.:47:05.

always been known as a big Bear specialist. Putting three together

:47:06.:47:09.

has been the challenge. More technical on the top rails.

:47:10.:47:22.

He's used the left-hand side of the kicker and then switched it up.

:47:23.:47:32.

Drifting... They could not quite hold it! A bit of flip-flopping. The

:47:33.:47:42.

only consolation, even if he had saved that, the way the judges are

:47:43.:47:49.

marking people, like on the last run, even if he had saved the last

:47:50.:47:53.

landing, it would not have been a great score. Another big name with a

:47:54.:48:02.

decent reputation will not make the finals. He is not going to better

:48:03.:48:10.

his first score, which means he is sitting it out in 14th place. I

:48:11.:48:16.

thought we were going to get some ski ballet then. The end of his day,

:48:17.:48:22.

unfortunately. The Swiss not getting the role of

:48:23.:48:35.

the dice at the moment. Antti Ollila is right on the bubble. He only has

:48:36.:48:42.

one spot between him getting knocked out, so he is going to want to

:48:43.:48:49.

improve on his first run score. There are TVs at the top that they

:48:50.:48:53.

can watch, they must see what the judges are doing and think, what can

:48:54.:49:01.

I do? What can I change? It is pretty straightforward, really. He

:49:02.:49:09.

took the same strategy that we saw Jamie and Jenny adopt, he has gone

:49:10.:49:13.

big with a run that he can land very cleanly. A huge 900. Have you

:49:14.:49:20.

stopped that becoming 1080, I will never know. So unlucky to fall over

:49:21.:49:26.

there. He just got caught in the soft snow. When it is soft like

:49:27.:49:31.

that, do you want to land forwards or backwards? It does not matter, as

:49:32.:49:37.

long as you keep the skis straight. As soon as they veer off, you get

:49:38.:49:43.

caught. You going to get awarded more from the judges? They will know

:49:44.:49:48.

it is more difficult to land. Will you get more for a backwards

:49:49.:49:54.

landing? It is not so important, it is dependent on the trick you have

:49:55.:49:58.

done. The cleanliness of the trick and landing. He got caught, his

:49:59.:50:05.

right ski dropped him, in the soft snow, and that is what through him.

:50:06.:50:12.

The key is surface area. If you are landing on just the tip, the tip

:50:13.:50:16.

will sink. If you can get both skis down at the same time, you will not

:50:17.:50:17.

sink. James Woods still in third. Nick

:50:18.:50:34.

Garber has stepped it up again. Gus Kenworthy in fifth place. Russ

:50:35.:50:41.

Henshaw currently in seventh place, but we should see a good marker of

:50:42.:50:44.

what he has planned for the final say. He may want to improve that

:50:45.:50:54.

score a bit. The top 12 will be seeded in the final, so it is worth

:50:55.:51:01.

trying to get as high up as you can, going into the finals. Very

:51:02.:51:03.

nice. A double ten to finish. A 180 right

:51:04.:51:25.

at the start, the last ski length of the jump. How different is that from

:51:26.:51:32.

his first run? Since he missed the tap on the dole, I would say his

:51:33.:51:41.

first run was slightly better. What they should add is a blockbusters

:51:42.:51:47.

style hooter when you hit the barrel or the goal. It should light up!

:51:48.:51:53.

Fireworks go off! Or a decent haunt! Just a bit loose with the

:51:54.:52:09.

left ski. The landing was perfect. 23 years old, but still considered

:52:10.:52:18.

an elder statesman. The lack of the grab on the kitchen posed as he went

:52:19.:52:25.

over. Maybe a little drop of style seeped away on the last jump.

:52:26.:52:33.

Andreas Hatveit, second place at the moment. Getting a shout from

:52:34.:52:43.

somebody, getting some props before he started his run.

:52:44.:52:52.

540! Switch 540, with a little tap and a grab. Very nice. He has really

:52:53.:53:05.

settle down, he is really enjoying a second run, knowing that they have

:53:06.:53:12.

got a nice high score. What about a flat spin nine on his second jump? A

:53:13.:53:20.

really good, solid run again. A bit over the tips on the landing of the

:53:21.:53:25.

third jump, but he almost looked like he did that on purpose, the way

:53:26.:53:28.

he recovered. I think he is fairly safe. We will see him in the finals.

:53:29.:53:37.

Absolutely. The big question is whether it improves the existing

:53:38.:53:38.

score. It is a bit cleaner, perhaps. That set him up for the last jump.

:53:39.:53:58.

Really nice. One, two, three. Switch double ten. Nice! He really did not

:53:59.:54:05.

reply Keith through that hard into that, ever so gentle on take-off.

:54:06.:54:15.

Maybe he will go around again. Still an amazing score. I do not know

:54:16.:54:25.

where the judges will have pulled that away. Gus Kenworthy, just

:54:26.:54:34.

outside the top three. He can overtake Nick Gupta if he gets a

:54:35.:54:37.

good score. He can ride the pipe, one of a

:54:38.:54:56.

handful of crossover skiers. The only others I can think of are the

:54:57.:55:01.

Wells brothers. They re-elect Cork. Loads of time. Huge! That was

:55:02.:55:21.

beautiful! He is just testing the water for the finals, if he goes

:55:22.:55:27.

through. I am only used by the Americans, they look sober news.

:55:28.:55:31.

They are too afraid to celebrate, they do not know what the score is

:55:32.:55:40.

going to be. Nobody does! Gus Kenworthy, I think we are agreed,

:55:41.:55:43.

and the judges will be with us, a very clean run. He used that so

:55:44.:55:56.

well. The tail grab. Really solid. This is the left side 12. Huge. That

:55:57.:56:06.

might have been a 16. I think so. I stand corrected, I am the least

:56:07.:56:17.

experienced. Still, good run. A gently confident smile on his face.

:56:18.:56:27.

He will be happy with that. I would watch him in finals. It is not an

:56:28.:56:37.

improvement. Definitely a 16 on the second hit? 12! It was the 12, OK.

:56:38.:56:47.

Josiah Wells, riding in pipe and slopestyle, such a talented and

:56:48.:56:53.

experienced skier. If anybody has worked out what the judges are

:56:54.:56:58.

looking for, it will be him. He qualified for the slopestyle at the

:56:59.:57:03.

last World Cup in Switzerland. Currently in 10th place. He is in

:57:04.:57:06.

the finals at the moment, that he will want to improve on that, and

:57:07.:57:11.

secure his place, take the stress out of the last 16 riders. Very

:57:12.:57:19.

smooth. He just held the 270. Really nice. A hard landing, he did not get

:57:20.:57:26.

that much part of the kicker. A switch left double ten. When we

:57:27.:57:42.

were talking about the landings, you said the judges will look for the

:57:43.:57:49.

way you land, like having Geoff capes on your shoulders, you get

:57:50.:57:53.

pushed down towards your knees, your hands plunge the floor, you might

:57:54.:57:58.

not be trying to do it, but so much compression. Especially on such big

:57:59.:58:08.

jumps. It is another test. That landing was perfect, this one, it

:58:09.:58:16.

looks like there might be atheist down, right in front of the judges.

:58:17.:58:27.

Rocking the safety grab. He is on 82.8 at the moment. He needs only

:58:28.:58:35.

0.2 more to move up into ninth place. That would take Bobby Brown

:58:36.:58:39.

down a place. He looks a bit like Lion-O. He would

:58:40.:58:59.

have fitted in in the 70s, perfectly! There is a huge

:59:00.:59:09.

travelling Kiwi contingent. A strong showing in the women's slopestyle,

:59:10.:59:17.

women's free skiing. But now, it is the turn of James Woods. He is

:59:18.:59:21.

currently in third place. A really nice first run, what do you reckon?

:59:22.:59:28.

I am not sure whether he will try to increase his score, maybe a bit

:59:29.:59:33.

cleaner, but I am not sure what he can do. It was pretty solid. Is it

:59:34.:59:40.

safe to say that he is safe? I do not think so. I do not think anybody

:59:41.:59:46.

is safe at this point. Still a lot of big names to go. Look at the

:59:47.:59:57.

lovely 450 out of the down rail. He is arguably one of the best rail

:59:58.:00:03.

riders, like Katie Summerhayes. Into the jumps, nice style on the 1080.

:00:04.:00:12.

It is lovely to see that this injury we have been speculating over for

:00:13.:00:20.

the last week... He has hit. He was moaning the moment he landed. Oh,

:00:21.:00:26.

no, and I really thought after the first run, he looked so smooth and

:00:27.:00:31.

solid. That landing has obviously... He can hardly get up.

:00:32.:00:41.

Given him a big jolt. Such a shame. James Woods actually injured his hip

:00:42.:00:46.

in training a couple of weeks ago and he has been struggling with it.

:00:47.:00:51.

We see the 1260 and as he stretches out the right leg... It is the right

:00:52.:01:03.

hip. The left hip was the one he didn't extend. He will sit on the

:01:04.:01:12.

first run score. At the moment, he will be going third last in the

:01:13.:01:16.

finals. Which is a lovely position to be in, look at that course. Right

:01:17.:01:29.

now, it is a computer game style slopestyle course that will be

:01:30.:01:46.

attacked by Harle Harlaut. He is one of the big remaining threats to the

:01:47.:01:50.

top five places. A gold-medal at the X Games. He almost got hung up but

:01:51.:01:55.

he held on. Coming into the jumps. Backwards now, Switch. Switch

:01:56.:02:15.

butter, double ten. He needs something very special, having been

:02:16.:02:23.

so loose on the first jump. It is looking good. When they first

:02:24.:02:26.

arrived and started practising before the Olympics started, there

:02:27.:02:30.

was a lot of controversy about the course and how it is running, maybe

:02:31.:02:34.

it is dangerous. He came out on Twitter and he said, everyone needs

:02:35.:02:42.

to chill, let's have a good time. Enough of the negativity. It is the

:02:43.:02:47.

Olympics, look how lucky we are to be here. It is the landing on this

:02:48.:02:54.

one I think the judges will pull apart. We have seen them really

:02:55.:03:01.

punishing that. It would be such a shame to lose Henrik at this stage.

:03:02.:03:09.

Clare Balding will have a field day with his pants... Even by my

:03:10.:03:15.

standards, they are pretty ridiculous. He has even got a wing

:03:16.:03:28.

suit on! If you want to have a go at his pants, go for it! I think you

:03:29.:03:33.

have got solid ground! The judges are taking their time. I don't Inc

:03:34.:03:37.

is going to make it with that hand down. -- don't think. I think he is

:03:38.:03:48.

in. Really? I am going with Murray. Just because I prefer him to you! We

:03:49.:03:58.

missed his little message. He is one of the nicest guys, really

:03:59.:04:04.

respected. Friendly with everyone. As long as he is skiing, he is

:04:05.:04:09.

happy. A full house at the free skiing today. We have so much good

:04:10.:04:18.

action to come. That is embarking for his dogs... -- him barking.

:04:19.:04:30.

Really? ! That run will pick him up the field, whether it is going to

:04:31.:04:41.

put him in the field, we don't know. He is getting big laughs from

:04:42.:04:47.

everybody. We find the judges taking ages to get this go. You know there

:04:48.:04:55.

is a fairly heated debate going on in the judges' booth. I like it, he

:04:56.:05:05.

is always happy. This is your time in the spotlight.

:05:06.:05:13.

Apparently he is a big Harry Potter fan. There you go... It was enough!

:05:14.:05:29.

The judges have spoken. Harlaut makes it into 10th place. Tribondeau

:05:30.:05:43.

of Austria will be heartbroken, he has been pushed out. He has won last

:05:44.:05:48.

chance to better the bubble score which is now 81.4. He has a big bag

:05:49.:05:57.

of tricks. You could say he is perhaps lacking a bit of style. He

:05:58.:06:05.

got 80.2 on the first run. That might cost him. Seemingly judges do

:06:06.:06:11.

not qualify style in the judging category. Of course style comes with

:06:12.:06:16.

control and execution. They won't be marking him on the fact that he

:06:17.:06:20.

stands up through these spins, that he looks really upright on the

:06:21.:06:25.

rails. It comes down purely to the technicality of the tricks. Triple

:06:26.:06:34.

14 at the bottom, DGC that? -- did you see that? You have to say in

:06:35.:06:43.

comparison to Harlaut's run comedy didn't have the tee on the run but

:06:44.:06:49.

-- on the rails but on the kickers, he has gone to town. Just 17 years

:06:50.:06:51.

of age. A He has missed the grab and that will

:06:52.:07:10.

cost him. Not to their, though. -- not there, though. Maybe that is

:07:11.:07:17.

another strategy, fishing hooks on your gloves. No danger with the

:07:18.:07:24.

triple here, high mute grab, almost knows. -- almost

:07:25.:07:34.

He was really square on the landing. It is a cruel world committee did

:07:35.:07:47.

not make the cut. -- cruel world, he did not make the cut. You are

:07:48.:07:55.

incentivising good, stylish riding. Tribondeau misses out on the finals

:07:56.:08:02.

by 0.6. Just catching the front of the Royal... That is the last noise

:08:03.:08:08.

you want to hear as you jump onto a rail. It is the worst noise in the

:08:09.:08:13.

world when you are actually doing it. Pancreas of France, sitting on a

:08:14.:08:27.

68. He needs 81.4 to make top 12. Right side 800, Switch double 900,

:08:28.:08:31.

going massive. He had the judo wild kick. Really

:08:32.:08:49.

deep into the landing again. Talk us through the left and right side

:08:50.:08:56.

spins. All skiers have a preference. There is a preference. If you are

:08:57.:08:59.

standing on the spot and to jump in the air and do 360, everyone would

:09:00.:09:05.

have a common way, a preferred side. It is usually left side. But the

:09:06.:09:11.

judges want to see variation so they want to see spinning left and right.

:09:12.:09:16.

It is not necessarily natural and unnatural, because so many riders do

:09:17.:09:20.

both. They just want to see a variation. The left spin here,

:09:21.:09:29.

spinning anticlockwise into the Lui Kang. The landing switch, popped out

:09:30.:09:39.

on the left ski slightly. 69.4 for Pancras. He stays in 17th. No

:09:40.:09:58.

movement for him. Under Hunder is one of the big names, he has the

:09:59.:10:06.

firepower to move up. -- Hunder is one of the big names. No half

:10:07.:10:14.

measures with this lad. 270 off on the down bar. 450 off. Right side

:10:15.:10:31.

12. Switch now. Oh! Switch 12. A double cork would add a bit to the

:10:32.:10:39.

variety. And what a landing! He will be so happy and relieved to get

:10:40.:10:45.

that. He landed like he was on the parade ground, arms by his side,

:10:46.:10:49.

absolutely upright. He said, if the judges want it clean, that is what I

:10:50.:10:55.

will give them. This is where he just held on. He just comes off a

:10:56.:11:02.

little early. He held on as long as he could. A lot of people would have

:11:03.:11:07.

given up before that. He has the grab screwed and solid.

:11:08.:11:14.

-- the grab good and solid. He spends as much time in the panel

:11:15.:11:24.

beaters as he does on his skis. If you are prepared to risk it all, you

:11:25.:11:27.

can come up with runs like this. Look at that landing. It is one of

:11:28.:11:34.

the best we have seen. I reckon this is top five. He doesn't even bend

:11:35.:11:45.

his legs when he lands. The Norwegians need something to

:11:46.:11:54.

celebrate. 75.4... It is my turn to be humiliated! I thought that was a

:11:55.:11:57.

fantastic run. I am not agreeing with that at all. I am baffled. I

:11:58.:12:07.

could not see a fault. The judges are not doing their best to

:12:08.:12:12.

showcase... It was big, technical and clean. Adelisse from France

:12:13.:12:20.

steps up now. He is looking to make amends for his first run. Off the

:12:21.:12:32.

canon, 450, deckchair. A good phrase. Thanks. It comes from the

:12:33.:12:40.

old days of snowboarding weather was considered a good landing! -- where

:12:41.:12:44.

that was considered. Having dropped that third element of

:12:45.:12:58.

the rails, is it all over for Adelisse? He had that terrible crash

:12:59.:13:04.

of the first rail in the first run, you has a slightly better run and he

:13:05.:13:08.

will be able to leave the Olympics with some dignity, but he won't have

:13:09.:13:13.

made the finals. Disappointment for the Frenchman. Let's have a look

:13:14.:13:22.

through the top places. Christensen is in first.

:13:23.:13:30.

James Woods dropped his second run because of the hip injury, he landed

:13:31.:13:36.

relatively cleanly but it looked like he had a bit too much pressure

:13:37.:13:42.

on that hip. Hopefully he can settle it down. He is potentially one run

:13:43.:13:53.

from Olympic glory. Having a cereal box named after him! Exactly!

:13:54.:14:07.

Braaten should be next, is usually talented. As been said to suffer

:14:08.:14:13.

nervous but he put down a belter of a first run. We thought that score

:14:14.:14:20.

belied the run itself. He has got all the tricks, good on the rails.

:14:21.:14:27.

He is the complete package. Looking to best his brother. 650 on, wallop!

:14:28.:14:38.

An incredible first rail. So much jeopardy in going for that. You have

:14:39.:14:42.

to have so much confidence to know you have got that perfectly down.

:14:43.:14:53.

Lovely double. Tucked up into that one, wanted to hold his speed into

:14:54.:14:58.

the shadow of the kicker. Really nice, switch into this final jump.

:14:59.:15:07.

Switch double 12, great run! He stamps his fist down, so please to

:15:08.:15:12.

land that. After his first run ended in disappointment. He was one of the

:15:13.:15:21.

writers from the first run who we thought was unfairly judged, we

:15:22.:15:25.

thought he had had a strong run. Maybe the judges are seeing

:15:26.:15:30.

something, a lack of variety may be, that we are not. The three big

:15:31.:15:37.

ones, take, clean, technical, seem to be there with him. They will just

:15:38.:15:47.

wait and see what comes in. He is on 79.2, he will need 81.4 to get

:15:48.:15:55.

inside the top 12. If he gets any more than 83, he will have pushed

:15:56.:16:01.

Bobby Brown into the bubble spot. I think this will be enough. He has

:16:02.:16:08.

held the grab for at least 540. He is happy. It is normally an

:16:09.:16:15.

indication, if a rider comes down and they are screaming... It is

:16:16.:16:23.

enough. One of our big names, Bobby Brown, is on the bubble. He is in

:16:24.:16:31.

12th place. One more raider -- rider in, he will drop. James Woods. In

:16:32.:16:37.

serious pain, he did not like the feel, and he decided to save himself

:16:38.:16:42.

-- he was not in serious pain. He is still in good shape for the final. I

:16:43.:16:50.

cannot lie, that is a relief. I cannot hold it in! That is relief,

:16:51.:17:06.

big relief. The Italian. The winner of a freeride world tour, a big

:17:07.:17:10.

mountain come position, whereby it is right the peaks that you see on

:17:11.:17:21.

the top of those pictures. He is 24. He does not look that comfortable

:17:22.:17:29.

through the rails, or not strong. A double 12. Decent enough landing. A

:17:30.:17:43.

bit loose. Switch double ten. Switch double ten, the opposite way. That

:17:44.:17:49.

is really nice. They may not have been super technical. You compare

:17:50.:17:56.

him to the previous rider on the rails, you are nowhere near. But the

:17:57.:18:02.

moment he gets down into the kicker is, he is looking really dig and

:18:03.:18:11.

clean. He just seemed to come alive. He is currently in 20 Ninth Place on

:18:12.:18:19.

people move up a long way, but he will need 83 to displace Bobby Brown

:18:20.:18:26.

out of the top 12. He had a Switch double ten, the one-way, and then

:18:27.:18:34.

one the other way. And the rotational. He has no preference for

:18:35.:18:42.

which way he rotates! We talk about right side and left side, Switch, at

:18:43.:18:48.

this level, you would expect that most of them are quite comfortable

:18:49.:18:51.

going all four ways. It is interesting, you say the same in

:18:52.:18:56.

snowboarding, but there are tell-tale signs. Not quite enough.

:18:57.:19:03.

Is it fair to say that James Woods is one of those for whom it is

:19:04.:19:09.

almost impossible to see which way his natural rotational is? Yes, he

:19:10.:19:15.

is so consistent in every way. If you had for jumps, most skiers would

:19:16.:19:21.

switch left and right and go/and right. You would not be able to tell

:19:22.:19:31.

their natural way. James Woods is still in third place. We do not yet

:19:32.:19:42.

have a skier from Finland in the top 12. I do not think we are going to,

:19:43.:19:48.

that was a tap. He did not manage to slide it comfortable in. He will

:19:49.:19:54.

know that already. He will have that in the back of his mind. Such an

:19:55.:20:05.

amazing three jumps from his opponent, but the rails did let him

:20:06.:20:11.

down, you cannot get a solid score without a good rails score. Even

:20:12.:20:19.

though he missed the top rail, he gave it a good go on the jumps. It

:20:20.:20:33.

is a shame, that let him down. The judges are being so harsh, if you do

:20:34.:20:40.

not land them properly. Yes. Everybody is having a tough time

:20:41.:20:44.

with the judges, they are penalising any tiny mistake heavily.

:20:45.:20:54.

For full spin is. Disappointment. A lovely lad. He has enjoyed his

:20:55.:21:16.

Olympic experience, though. Seven riders left, including this one.

:21:17.:21:34.

He has dropped it, did not manage to hold on. Inkling about the judging

:21:35.:21:50.

and the way it is going, you get to the bottom, it is guesswork for us.

:21:51.:22:01.

If there ever a point as a rider that did get to the bottom, you look

:22:02.:22:05.

at the score board, and it flashes up 53.7, do you lose your

:22:06.:22:12.

composure? Do you want to shout at the judging booth? You are just

:22:13.:22:18.

happy to be at the bottom, and if you have landed your run, you take

:22:19.:22:23.

it on the chin. It is in the judges' hands, there is nothing more

:22:24.:22:29.

you can do. As many times as it does not go your way, it can go your way.

:22:30.:22:35.

Yes, it works both ways. If you fall over, there is nobody to blame but

:22:36.:22:46.

yourself. The American is currently in first place. This is going to be

:22:47.:22:57.

a really comfortable experiment with his line. Give us a good indication

:22:58.:23:04.

of what he has got planned for the finals. Looking at the top 12 at the

:23:05.:23:10.

moment, Bobby Brown has got six riders left, he knows that Josiah

:23:11.:23:16.

Wells is above him, James is the only name he will be worried about.

:23:17.:23:20.

So solid. Switch left double ten. Absolutely

:23:21.:23:37.

massive. Absolutely massive. Yet another perfect run. He has made

:23:38.:23:45.

this look very easy. His confidence will be flowing, going into the

:23:46.:23:58.

finals. Look at these replays. All of those wales dutifully locked in

:23:59.:24:08.

my through the middle of the skis. He switched it out and vote a kid at

:24:09.:24:12.

the other way, it is a masterclass in technical skiing. It puts him in

:24:13.:24:18.

a good position for the finals, they run it in reverse order, so he will

:24:19.:24:27.

drop last. He will undoubtedly retain his top spot, he improves his

:24:28.:24:28.

score. If you are just surfacing from the

:24:29.:24:42.

shower or from under the duvet, good morning, 8:25am in the UK, it is

:24:43.:24:49.

12:25pm here in Sochi, a beautiful day, and we have been enjoying the

:24:50.:24:54.

qualifying for the men's slopestyle, we have seen more than we can fall

:24:55.:25:00.

at times, Henrik Harlaut, that was interesting! James Woods, this was

:25:01.:25:04.

his second run. As you saw, he just perhaps tweaked

:25:05.:25:15.

the injury that he had been suffering from since last Friday.

:25:16.:25:20.

That was of the first big kicker. But he seems to be OK, from what we

:25:21.:25:24.

have been hearing from the commentary box. In fact, it was the

:25:25.:25:34.

second kicker. This is where we heard the yell. We wonder if that

:25:35.:25:42.

will inhibit him from the final, at 9:30am. Let's hear from him.

:25:43.:25:48.

Happy with the first run, the second run, it looks like you tweak your

:25:49.:25:56.

hip again. Yes, exactly. I wanted both runs, my first run was good, I

:25:57.:26:03.

am really happy, but I did not want to give up on the second run, I

:26:04.:26:06.

wanted to make the most of the experience, does hopefully I will be

:26:07.:26:11.

through to finals. On the second take-off, I set it a bit funny, so

:26:12.:26:20.

there was a little twang. When the trick was not executed perfectly...

:26:21.:26:24.

You are chasing perfection, you will not be rewarded for anything less.

:26:25.:26:29.

It was not the pain that pulled you out? It was more the fact that it

:26:30.:26:35.

was not spot-on? I had a twang of pain, it really hurts, so it was the

:26:36.:26:41.

pain, and once I realised that the trick was not perfect, that was the

:26:42.:26:45.

extra thing that said, do not risk it, do not make it worse, just take

:26:46.:26:50.

it for what it is. It looks like he will be in

:26:51.:26:55.

reasonable shape for the final, at 9:30am. In ten minutes, the second

:26:56.:27:01.

run of the women's skeleton, the competition got under way at 7:30am

:27:02.:27:06.

your time, we can show you what happened, because two of our chief

:27:07.:27:12.

medal hopes, not just in this event, but in the whole of the Olympics,

:27:13.:27:17.

are going, Lizzy Yarnold and Shelley Rudman, who won the silver medal

:27:18.:27:20.

eight years ago. This is what happened in the first run of the

:27:21.:27:22.

four. The number one American, the number

:27:23.:27:33.

two in the world. We do not know what sort of pace she is in, her

:27:34.:27:40.

training has been spasmodic, but she is a former world champion, she was

:27:41.:27:44.

in fourth in the last Olympic Games, she can slide. Amy, you were a great

:27:45.:27:52.

starter, you know that Noelle Pikus-Pace is not the best starter,

:27:53.:27:57.

but she can make it up. That was a great start from her, she will be

:27:58.:28:02.

really happy with that. Rumours that she has been really Elvis week, back

:28:03.:28:07.

problems, she has only gone on the track a few times. A solid run so

:28:08.:28:16.

far. This is a tricky changeover. Her feet flailing around. They do

:28:17.:28:21.

not have as much control as the luge. You have got to get the

:28:22.:28:29.

position right, get your setup perfect. She has had quite a few

:28:30.:28:33.

skits, a bit out of control, that she will be more nervous than the

:28:34.:28:38.

others, from her lack of training runs. She has set the target. That

:28:39.:28:48.

is her husband, cheering her on. She will be pretty pleased with that, it

:28:49.:28:52.

is a track record, to start off with. The old track record, 58.98,

:28:53.:29:01.

held by a fellow American. The ice must be in tremendous condition, we

:29:02.:29:06.

knew that. We saw it in the luge, and that is half the battle. The ice

:29:07.:29:13.

is amazing, this track is the best I have ever seen, you can see the

:29:14.:29:16.

shine on the ice, really perfect conditions. The Russians have done

:29:17.:29:25.

proud for the track. If any British spectators are wondering who this

:29:26.:29:30.

lady is, Lizzie Yarnold, she has been around for a few years, she has

:29:31.:29:35.

already won a World Championship, four world cups, and now she is

:29:36.:29:40.

going for Olympic gold. She won the World Cup season this year. That is

:29:41.:29:48.

tremendous. Even quicker than the old start record. She has powered it

:29:49.:29:53.

off, nothing conservative about that. She has given it all, she will

:29:54.:29:59.

be so pleased with that. Her form is perfect. Head down, shoulders down,

:30:00.:30:05.

fit together, so much more aerodynamic, clean lines. A she is

:30:06.:30:37.

13. Two tenths is lead. She has done it by a quarter of a second. 58.43,

:30:38.:30:45.

another track record. This competition has got off to a

:30:46.:30:51.

blistering start. First of all a track record by Pikus-Pace. And

:30:52.:30:58.

secondly by Lizzy Yarnold. She is going to be happy, she took a clip

:30:59.:31:04.

out of 11, 12-13 is wobbly. It is hard to get out there I get the

:31:05.:31:08.

correct angle. It is an uphill section so that is one area that

:31:09.:31:13.

could have lost her time. That little kink, they call it the

:31:14.:31:19.

chicane. The tap is probably better than trying to make any kind of

:31:20.:31:23.

steer. Sometimes it is easier to take the tap than fight the steer.

:31:24.:31:29.

Shelley Rudman, the best-known of the British sliders at the moment.

:31:30.:31:33.

She has been around for quite some time. She was six at the last

:31:34.:31:40.

Olympic Games. She gets a silver medal in 2006.

:31:41.:31:47.

She starts her Olympic campaign here. She gets away well. Anything

:31:48.:31:58.

close to 5.10 will be good, she is ready giving away two tenths of a

:31:59.:32:03.

second to Yarnold, she is a lighter athlete, not as powerful in the

:32:04.:32:08.

start that this is a long track and it gives someone of Shelley's

:32:09.:32:12.

experience a chance to reel back in Yarnold. She doesn't have the

:32:13.:32:16.

momentum from that start, she will have to work it down the bottom.

:32:17.:32:21.

Between five and 15 is the ready technical part, you have got to nail

:32:22.:32:28.

those lines. So far, her run is looking really solid. She has

:32:29.:32:31.

struggled in the major uphill sections in training but she is

:32:32.:32:38.

looking good so far. Back up the hill, she took a clip, her leg hit

:32:39.:32:42.

off the wall. She is not going to trouble Yarnold now. Shelley Rudman

:32:43.:32:49.

is coming through and just finishing in third place. It means she is

:32:50.:32:58.

behind Pikus-Pace. That really was a disappointing run for Shelley

:32:59.:33:04.

Rudman. She took the same clip as Lizzy out of 11 but she hit it

:33:05.:33:10.

harder. It pinned her a cross onto the other side of the wall and would

:33:11.:33:14.

have slowed her down. A little bit of the wrong angle. She took the hit

:33:15.:33:19.

out of 14, two big hits. Here we go with Nikitina. Wow, she

:33:20.:33:41.

has beaten Lizzy Yarnold's start, it is phenomenal. She is one of the

:33:42.:33:46.

Russian quick sprinters, it is a perfect start. It is long and flat

:33:47.:33:51.

and if you are a sprinter, you just go for it. She is the junior world

:33:52.:33:57.

champion and raining European Championship the bid has gone from

:33:58.:34:01.

green to White at that split. Three hundredths, it is a very small

:34:02.:34:08.

margin. It is touch and go. She is having a beautiful run. Lizzy

:34:09.:34:14.

Yarnold has got a lot of weight behind her and continues to have the

:34:15.:34:20.

speed down the bottom. Exciting to see how well she will do at the

:34:21.:34:27.

finish line. It is very close now. It is just outside, my goodness.

:34:28.:34:32.

Nikitina finishes within five hundredths of a second of Lizzy

:34:33.:34:37.

Yarnold. We know we have got a contest on our hands now. My heart

:34:38.:34:43.

is beating way too fast. The Russians didn't do at all the

:34:44.:34:48.

training runs, I think they have been keeping hidden steers up their

:34:49.:34:55.

sleeves. A great start. The start was phenomenal. So quick. Then she

:34:56.:35:09.

got down and tucked in nicely. Here is an athlete that excites, it is

:35:10.:35:17.

Katie Uhlaender from the United States, a pocket dynamo. She gets

:35:18.:35:25.

away quite well. She comes from a family of world-class athletes, her

:35:26.:35:28.

dad was a world-class baseball player. She had a nasty knock and

:35:29.:35:34.

was unconscious at the beginning of the season. It has caused certain

:35:35.:35:42.

problems this year. Two years ago she was the number one in the world.

:35:43.:35:48.

Katie Uhlaender has been up and down. She has had the results, been

:35:49.:35:53.

on the podium, then had a year that has been off. I hope this is the

:35:54.:35:58.

year she comes back. She has always wanted a medal so this is really

:35:59.:36:03.

important for her. A beautiful line in the steep uphill section. That

:36:04.:36:10.

was perfect. She can carry her weight, she almost qualified for the

:36:11.:36:15.

Olympics as a weightlifter in London, she is that powerful. She

:36:16.:36:19.

wanted to compete in summer and winter and she almost got her place

:36:20.:36:26.

in the weightlifting, but not quite. She's going to be thrilled with

:36:27.:36:32.

fourth place, she is really happy and let's hope she stays up there.

:36:33.:36:38.

That gives her a shot at a medal place. It is early doors yet as far

:36:39.:36:43.

as the overall positions are concerned. But it is possible.

:36:44.:36:50.

STUDIO: We are moments from the second run but let's remind you of

:36:51.:36:55.

the standings. Lizzy Yarnold has the slender advantage over Nikitina. The

:36:56.:37:03.

Russian crowds at the Sanki centre are thrilled. Katie Uhlaender is

:37:04.:37:17.

also one of the favourites. Lizzy Yarnold has been consistently

:37:18.:37:20.

fastest in the training runs in the build-up to this event. I wonder

:37:21.:37:23.

what has made her so dominant in this sport all season. We can ask

:37:24.:37:30.

Paul and Colin. At the Sanki sliding centre. What has been -- what

:37:31.:37:38.

pressure has been exerted after the first run? It is a surprising bit of

:37:39.:37:48.

pressure. Everybody expected Pikus-Pace and Uhlaender to be up

:37:49.:37:53.

there but not Nikitina. She is a very solid performer. She has a

:37:54.:38:02.

massive start and you have to be a great athlete in skeleton, you need

:38:03.:38:06.

the power start. The only person who has out started her is Nikitina but

:38:07.:38:12.

Lizzy Yarnold is in the lead at the moment.

:38:13.:38:19.

STUDIO: We have three Russians in the top six and you wonder... We saw

:38:20.:38:24.

this in Vancouver, the amount of practice that you get on it, do you

:38:25.:38:29.

think it accounts for the form that we have seen from the Russian

:38:30.:38:36.

athletes? To a certain extent. Nikitina in particular, she has held

:38:37.:38:48.

her own to say the least. Easing up on Lizzy Yarnold. I am not sure

:38:49.:38:56.

about the other Russians, we will have to wait and see. I would see

:38:57.:39:06.

Potylitsina moving downwards but that remains to be seen. We move on

:39:07.:39:14.

to round two of the four rounds of women's skeleton. Colin, it is all

:39:15.:39:28.

for Lizzy Yarnold to do. Yes, if Nikitina didn't

:39:29.:39:40.

Nikitina took the start from Yarnold but Yarnold has the track record.

:39:41.:39:47.

This is the aggregate of four runs. Lizzy Yarnold can soak up pressure,

:39:48.:39:51.

she really enjoys it. I think that is in her favour. Nikitina is

:39:52.:39:58.

playing to the crowd, she is enjoying the pressure. Pikus-Pace is

:39:59.:40:10.

very quiet, think it is due to illness. She is giving away so much

:40:11.:40:16.

to the other two. As for the rest outside the top three, they could

:40:17.:40:19.

all be battling because they still have three runs. We do not know who

:40:20.:40:28.

is going to get the medal yet. Here we go with the first competitor

:40:29.:40:35.

in round two, Pikus-Pace from Australia who took the heavy knock

:40:36.:40:39.

halfway down. She is going to have to really produce something to get

:40:40.:40:45.

in amongst the top 20 -- Chaffer from Australia. This start is

:40:46.:40:52.

identical to what she did in the first one. It is really hot at this

:40:53.:40:56.

track, have never been at such a warm skeleton track, it is maybe

:40:57.:41:02.

plus ten today. The refrigeration system is being put to the test.

:41:03.:41:07.

It'll be interesting to see if the track degrades. There are a lot of

:41:08.:41:09.

blinds up to try to protect the track on the sunny bed. Coming out

:41:10.:41:17.

into the changeover -- the sunny it. She is through 11, down this long

:41:18.:41:24.

straight and a big hit by Chaffer. We are going in reverse order is of

:41:25.:41:30.

their placings so we have to wait quite a while before we see Lizzy

:41:31.:41:33.

Yarnold, the Brit, who leads, she will be last.

:41:34.:41:44.

That is considerably faster than she achieved in the first round. She

:41:45.:41:52.

took some massive hits in the first run. She has managed to keep her

:41:53.:41:57.

cool and do a good second run. She will pack away as lead, go back to

:41:58.:42:03.

the village and try to come up tomorrow evening -- pack away her

:42:04.:42:09.

sled. She is a top 15 rider. When she nails it.

:42:10.:42:15.

Plenty of support and now we move on to the second athlete, Mazilu of

:42:16.:42:32.

Romania, just a shade under the one-minute area in the first round.

:42:33.:42:41.

-- barrier. They go in one of the bobsleigh spurs which makes it a bit

:42:42.:42:45.

trickier for the skeleton athletes. Occasionally they popped out of

:42:46.:42:48.

those at the start and they can smack off an early wall but luckily

:42:49.:42:57.

that has not happened so far. Mazilu was carrying an advantage of 15

:42:58.:43:01.

hundredths of a second. That is a horrible slide up the hill to six.

:43:02.:43:10.

Not too good at all and she will most caught it there. -- she almost.

:43:11.:43:17.

A bit too high off the exit and she's bouncing from right to left.

:43:18.:43:23.

She is too late of every exit at the moment, she needs to make her steer

:43:24.:43:31.

early. She did there, that was fine. You take an early steer and a second

:43:32.:43:36.

steer, my goodness... The second wave was up by the woodwork, failed

:43:37.:43:43.

to steer totally. Chaffer has run fast enough to stay ahead of Mazilu.

:43:44.:43:51.

Goodness me. Everybody's heart was in the mouth, watching this athlete

:43:52.:44:01.

come down on that occasion. Dear me. We still have 18 athletes to go.

:44:02.:44:07.

They will see someone with a slight time advantage over the next. That

:44:08.:44:11.

was a tricky part of the track and look at this. So close to the

:44:12.:44:18.

woodwork and she took a big wave and then the second centrifugal force

:44:19.:44:22.

sucks you back up again and if you don't steer through it, you will

:44:23.:44:28.

slam into the woodwork. Komuro of Japan.

:44:29.:44:35.

An interesting view... They have hundreds of little spikes on the

:44:36.:44:48.

ends of the issues to get a grip with the ice, it doesn't always

:44:49.:44:54.

guarantee ice, especially -- doesn't always guarantee grip especially of

:44:55.:44:58.

the ice is cold. The light has gone green, she was carrying an advantage

:44:59.:45:04.

of about two tenths of a second. Make it about a quarter of a second.

:45:05.:45:13.

It was a clean, simple tap. A lot of the athletes are deciding the tap is

:45:14.:45:18.

almost worth it. Just coming a bit late out of that one. She has lost a

:45:19.:45:29.

bit of speed. The Australian, it is no surprise she is taking the

:45:30.:45:35.

scalps. She is a top-10 slider. We could see her sitting in the leaders

:45:36.:45:45.

box for a while now. Once again, the Australian stays at the top.

:45:46.:45:55.

We still have the top 17 to come. That is not forget Lizzie Yarnold,

:45:56.:46:02.

coming down last. Shelley Rudman is in 12th place after the first run,

:46:03.:46:06.

roughly one second behind Lizzie Yarnold. To the bronze medal

:46:07.:46:12.

position she is three quarters of a second. It will be tough for her to

:46:13.:46:16.

pull it back and get towards the medals. Maybe top eight or top six

:46:17.:46:23.

is all she can expect. But we are in the prime position, with Lizzie

:46:24.:46:25.

Yarnold, she will be coming down last. She will have to sit and wait.

:46:26.:46:31.

Watch each one of these sliders come down.

:46:32.:46:46.

That was a good start. She is a brilliant starter. 4.96 is

:46:47.:46:59.

phenomenal, only 0.01 seconds away from Lizzie Yarnold. She choose to

:47:00.:47:04.

have the start record until Lizzie Yarnold took it away from her.

:47:05.:47:14.

Just staying ahead. She has dropped the lead. Her speed has dropped, she

:47:15.:47:23.

is banking off every upright she can lay her hands on. That is all right.

:47:24.:47:29.

Through the final colour, up the hill. Not great speed. She has lost

:47:30.:47:35.

it through the final couple of corners. The Australian cannot

:47:36.:47:42.

believe she is in the leaders box for so long. That is tough. She will

:47:43.:47:54.

not be thrilled with that. A magnificent start. One-handed. She

:47:55.:48:02.

died down with catlike dexterity, she gets her body onto the sled,

:48:03.:48:12.

beautiful. That is a regular touch. That was not so much a touch as a

:48:13.:48:21.

body slam. This is the Latvian who is aiming to take the Australian of

:48:22.:48:33.

the leaderboard. Five foot four, 130 L BS. Away we go. That is good

:48:34.:48:45.

loading. Just in the lead. A lot of that comes from the very first run,

:48:46.:48:49.

she is carrying forward a very good advantage on the Australian. It is a

:48:50.:48:53.

quick start than the Australian. You spot the end of the uphill

:48:54.:49:13.

corner as you go onto the apex. She is going well. A good, clean run.

:49:14.:49:24.

One of the first sliders we have seen Miss the left-hand wall out of

:49:25.:49:30.

corner in 11, shows -- so she will keep her lead up. She will go into

:49:31.:49:41.

the lead. The lead was dropped as she came over the line. It could

:49:42.:49:53.

have been even more. The Latvians are one of the nations who have had

:49:54.:49:56.

a bit more time here, there is all kinds of time training, the

:49:57.:50:02.

Canadians gave the Russians a bit of time four years ago, and they have

:50:03.:50:06.

been repaid the favour. The Russians and the Latvians always get on. It

:50:07.:50:12.

is not surprising they are doing well. You only get six official

:50:13.:50:17.

training runs leading into this, it is not easy to learn a track like

:50:18.:50:26.

that. Not very much indeed. Here is Melissa Hollandsworth, she won a

:50:27.:50:31.

bronze medal eight years ago. She finished in fifth place in 2010.

:50:32.:50:36.

Everybody is hoping she can get into a place for a medal. But she will

:50:37.:50:45.

have to do it this time. The time is just shy of watch achieved last

:50:46.:50:52.

time. It is not a brilliant start. But it is not bad, wetter than we

:50:53.:50:58.

have seen her do. She has had a pity poor season, but she has got better

:50:59.:51:00.

with every slide. Watch her comeback down the bottom.

:51:01.:51:15.

She gets great aerodynamics. Her speed can be exceptional, that is

:51:16.:51:21.

why she was favourite in Vancouver. She is not pulling this back, I am

:51:22.:51:28.

surprised. Straight down the middle, that is the important thing. She

:51:29.:51:34.

just touches on the right-hand side. She seems to be doing all right. She

:51:35.:51:43.

is doing all right. That is a big surprise. The place. -- second

:51:44.:51:53.

place. That is her father, with the cowboy hat on. She likes to ride

:51:54.:51:57.

rodeo in the summer. A real daredevil. With a bit of a

:51:58.:52:06.

retirement gap between 2010 and now, and trying out so many different

:52:07.:52:12.

sleds before returning to the old Olympics lead from four years ago,

:52:13.:52:16.

it has mucked around with her head a bit. That slowed her down quite a

:52:17.:52:21.

lot. Eyeballs out, she has a good lead

:52:22.:52:50.

already. Not a bad start, she carries forward an advantage over

:52:51.:52:58.

the Latvian of 0.21. It is not surprising she is in the lead. It

:52:59.:53:05.

was a similar start to the Latvian. Digging her left toe in. Working

:53:06.:53:15.

like a tiny anchor. It is looking good.

:53:16.:53:22.

She hit that hard. She is still in the lead, but I am not sure for how

:53:23.:53:33.

much longer. This is going to be tight. Has she done enough? Yes, she

:53:34.:53:42.

has. My goodness. That takes her ahead of the Latvian. That could

:53:43.:53:51.

easily be recovered, once the third round starts tomorrow. We will have

:53:52.:53:56.

to wait and see. That could have been better, but it is not bad. A

:53:57.:54:05.

solid start. She loads well. They have a good programme, in New

:54:06.:54:12.

Zealand and Australia, they have targeted skeleton as one of the

:54:13.:54:17.

events they could do, because you do not need that much money. Janine

:54:18.:54:27.

Flock puts her helmet on. Any minute now, away we go.

:54:28.:54:35.

The atmosphere at the start is far different than it is down here.

:54:36.:54:48.

Except when they get going. She is ahead, not bad. She was carrying

:54:49.:54:55.

forward an advantage over the New Zealander of 0.05.

:54:56.:55:04.

She has gained just a tiny amount. It is solid. That is good.

:55:05.:55:22.

A very similar speed to the kiwi. She is just pulling away. But that

:55:23.:55:32.

was a hard-hit. I am not sure she will keep this lead. Coming down,

:55:33.:55:42.

the lead has increased. The kiwi was be celebrating there. That was very

:55:43.:55:53.

good indeed. She is lucky that the Kiwi slapped that war as well. She

:55:54.:56:00.

lost less lead, she is a heavier woman, that helps, the momentum, you

:56:01.:56:07.

can get away with it a bit more. Let's have a look at it. A bit of

:56:08.:56:16.

ice being kicked away. She was lucky, there is hoarfrost, ice, if

:56:17.:56:23.

you click a chunk, it can slow you down or send you into a slide.

:56:24.:56:33.

Shelley Rudman, being supported by her husband. He designed the sledge.

:56:34.:56:47.

It is so crucial. She is usually a good starter. This time, she has

:56:48.:56:56.

started well. She is already doing little head movements. She has an

:56:57.:57:05.

advantage over the Austrian of 0.01 seconds. She has gone behind. Let me

:57:06.:57:15.

bring in Amy Williams. Shelley Rudman has just lost a bit too

:57:16.:57:21.

Janine Flock. She has been getting better and better, every run she has

:57:22.:57:24.

done, you only get a limited amount of time on the track. I am expecting

:57:25.:57:30.

her to creep up, but you never know, the conditions could be slowing

:57:31.:57:35.

down. She has just gone ahead. She cannot afford to make a mistake, she

:57:36.:57:39.

does not. She is keeping clean lines, she has just corrected the

:57:40.:57:45.

mistake from the first run, so she is learning. She has improved. One

:57:46.:57:56.

of the only athlete that has improved during the last part of the

:57:57.:58:06.

course, superb. She stays in exactly the same place, for the time being.

:58:07.:58:11.

That is great for her, you never want to be shifting down positions,

:58:12.:58:15.

you always want to be creeping up, so she will be happy with that. A

:58:16.:58:20.

fair target would be to get into the top ten after this run, try and take

:58:21.:58:26.

another scalp or two, and then advance forward tomorrow, and hope

:58:27.:58:30.

others make mistakes, which they will do, because there will be

:58:31.:58:35.

tiredness and nerves. The chance of getting a medal is slim, but she

:58:36.:58:42.

could be up in the top six. Yes. After the excitement of Shelley

:58:43.:58:48.

Rudman, what about the German? She is coming through, she has been on

:58:49.:58:52.

the World Cup this season for the first time, and she is shining

:58:53.:58:55.

through as one of the new German hopefuls. She had a 0.03 advantage

:58:56.:59:06.

over them. Her momentum will not be as good. Can she start to pull this

:59:07.:59:16.

back on Shelley Rudman? She looks good. It is hard to say how much

:59:17.:59:22.

speed you get through the corners, it is all about perfecting those

:59:23.:59:26.

centimetres here and there, different angles. Shelley Rudman

:59:27.:59:34.

fans will be delighted at this. The way the graph is looking, it is

:59:35.:59:41.

going Shelley Rudman's way. She is a heavier woman up the hill, she has

:59:42.:59:45.

got better top end speed! She certainly has. There is no doubt

:59:46.:59:53.

about that. She has gone into the lead, the head of Shelley Rudman,

:59:54.:59:57.

who she was down on for most of that course. She is just in the lead,

:59:58.:00:06.

ahead of Shelley Rudman. Amy, when you are heavier, the bigger you are,

:00:07.:00:13.

the faster you fall, that is an advantage. It is tricky, people say,

:00:14.:00:19.

do you want to be big and heavy or small and slim? There is not one

:00:20.:00:24.

rule, but if you are big and heavy, it is an advantage. But if you hit a

:00:25.:00:28.

wall and you are heavier, you will slow down quicker. The German is in

:00:29.:00:36.

the lead, ahead of Shelley Rudman and Janine

:00:37.:00:37.
