It is another cold one at the Winter Olympics. Remember Sesame Street,

:00:42.:00:47.

the kids' show, slightly weird animals like the Cookie Monster, Big

:00:48.:00:50.

Bird, Kermit the frog? Well, they started each show by saying, today's

:00:51.:00:54.

programme is brought to you by the letter... Well, we hope that today's

:00:55.:00:59.

coverage from Sochi is brought to you by the letter G for gold.

:01:00.:01:09.

Lizzie Yarnold sitting in first place. In Sydney, five of our gold

:01:10.:01:20.

medals were won by a combined time differential of just over 0.5

:01:21.:01:29.

seconds. We will be live from 3:30pm with Lizzy Yarnold that the 40 PM.

:01:30.:01:38.

-- at 3:40pm. We are heading back up to the mountains. To decide who is

:01:39.:01:45.

the best all-round skier. Mauro Caviezel looking good out of

:01:46.:02:10.

the start. He is carving well and creating good angles. This might be

:02:11.:02:22.

good enough to give Switzerland provisional one, two. He is

:02:23.:02:29.

struggling, boxing his way back into a balanced position, but the damage

:02:30.:02:40.

is done. Again, same mistake. Just caught on the inside ski, could not

:02:41.:02:48.

release the skis from underneath him. The skis too close together.

:02:49.:03:08.

There is the leader. Sandro Viletta. The next is the Olympic super

:03:09.:03:21.

combined champion, Bode Miller. He will have to attack, it is the only

:03:22.:03:24.

chance he has of defending his title. He is in big trouble early

:03:25.:03:31.

on. It is not working and when it does not work it happens pretty

:03:32.:03:36.

fast. He can still ski boots slalom but he needs to have the right

:03:37.:03:41.

conditions and he is not coping with this course at all well today. As he

:03:42.:03:51.

managed to find any time in the middle part of the course -- has he?

:03:52.:04:00.

We will have a new super come on and Olympic champion. The gold medallist

:04:01.:04:07.

from four years ago has found the whole thing a little too tough.

:04:08.:04:13.

Third for the moment. Sandro Viletta leads. Bode Miller does not like the

:04:14.:04:20.

slushy conditions. He prefers it when it is icy so he can feel his

:04:21.:04:29.

way onto the course. His feeling for the skis does not help him at all

:04:30.:04:58.

when you have frozen/ / slush. Imagine if you were stood on

:04:59.:05:02.

bathroom Scales and you dropped down your weight, that is under waiting.

:05:03.:05:12.

He will turn his attention to the super-G on Sunday.

:05:13.:05:26.

The leader is Sandro Viletta from Switzerland. Adam Zampa is second

:05:27.:05:33.

with Bode Miller third. Beat Feuz on the hill. It is looking

:05:34.:05:55.

a little sluggish. His slalom days are behind him. He is good at high

:05:56.:06:02.

speed downhill racing. He is going to finish. Adam Zampa still in

:06:03.:06:12.

second and he put down a thunderous slalom challenge and Bode Miller has

:06:13.:06:19.

skied into third. No luck today for Beat Feuz. Action for him on Sunday.

:06:20.:06:37.

Dominik Paris is next to fight his way through the early stages of this

:06:38.:06:45.

slalom course. He has already got them sideways and climbing back

:06:46.:06:59.

uphill. Not a good start. We were comparing the physiology of the

:07:00.:07:03.

skiers to rugby players, very powerful athletes, and this is kind

:07:04.:07:08.

of like watching a front row forward finding the ball and trying to run

:07:09.:07:17.

down the wing at speed. It is not working for him.

:07:18.:07:26.

Sandro Viletta in the lead. They will be happy to see Dominik Paris

:07:27.:07:34.

ski like this because there is no danger to Sandro Viletta. The gold

:07:35.:07:40.

is whether Sandro Viletta, the silver is with Adam Zampa. He

:07:41.:07:54.

punched the air when he made it to the finish. Look at his recovery. He

:07:55.:08:04.

is smiling about it. This is the man who won called four years ago. He is

:08:05.:08:15.

struggling with the deteriorating course at the top. Having to deal

:08:16.:08:27.

with a lot of slush. He skis like a giant slalom skier. He lacks the

:08:28.:08:39.

explores of -- explosiveness needed. If we did not have the restriction

:08:40.:08:42.

of the fact that it is such a steep hill, then it would have favoured

:08:43.:08:53.

him. He is not quick enough on his feet. He will defend his Olympic

:08:54.:09:04.

giant slalom next week. Sandro Viletta leads. Adam Zampa could be

:09:05.:09:19.

end for a podium finish. -- could be in.

:09:20.:09:29.

The fastest eight men have still to come. It is the time difference. It

:09:30.:09:49.

is 1.14 the difference between Sandro Viletta and Adam Zampa. I can

:09:50.:09:58.

see that Sandro Viletta has a good chance of ending up on the podium

:09:59.:10:03.

full is the there are only two or three good slalom skiers left to ski

:10:04.:10:12.

of the seven left to ski. Including Ivica Kostelic. Ivica Kostelic has

:10:13.:10:22.

never won an Olympic gold. This could be his last chance before he

:10:23.:10:29.

bows out. Silver medallist in the Olympic downhill. Christof

:10:30.:10:42.

Innerhofer will ski the slalom in a similar quality to what we just saw

:10:43.:10:50.

from Dominik Paris, his compatriot. Hopefully he will ski better than

:10:51.:11:06.

them. Getting himself psyched up. Everything has changed, different

:11:07.:11:12.

boots, different skis, different poles.

:11:13.:11:25.

This is not bad. He is quick on his feet. Creating good angles. He is

:11:26.:11:38.

really going for it. He has done well in super combined in the past.

:11:39.:11:45.

Some tricky parts of the course approaching. Nice. He is just in

:11:46.:12:04.

front. Come on! He might have skidded himself out of contention.

:12:05.:12:20.

He is second. That was a very good slalom ski from Christof

:12:21.:12:25.

Innerhofer. He can be very happy with that. He is an out and out

:12:26.:12:30.

downhill specialist but he has maintained some slalom technique. He

:12:31.:12:35.

probably only trains half a dozen days of slalom every year. He will

:12:36.:12:42.

not train much in slalom. He is a downhill specialist. A parody of the

:12:43.:12:54.

ski flip. That is Bode Miller's wife. Christof Innerhofer has just

:12:55.:13:09.

skied into second. Ivica Kostelic's dad designed the course. It is cruel

:13:10.:13:27.

attack right from the start. -- full attack. He is losing time. He did

:13:28.:13:35.

not really attack. He has not had a great season, Ivica Kostelic. It is

:13:36.:13:44.

all a little cautious and stiff, maybe there is too pressure on him.

:13:45.:13:52.

Supporters are dumbfounded by what they have seen. Sandro Viletta knows

:13:53.:13:59.

that is a very important moment, he holds onto first, Ivica Kostelic is

:14:00.:14:13.

second. Christof Innerhofer is third. No podium for Adam Zampa.

:14:14.:14:23.

Christof Innerhofer Steed exactly the same time as Ivica Kostelic in a

:14:24.:14:31.

slalom. Ivica Kostelic is going to have to look at that and say, I

:14:32.:14:38.

could have done better. That is his school report. Probably his final

:14:39.:14:44.

chance of securing an Olympic gold medal. Matthias Mayer the Olympic

:14:45.:14:49.

downhill champion still to come. Aksel Lund Svindal is less practised

:14:50.:15:15.

than he was in 2008-2009. He is also heavier, having bulked up in the gym

:15:16.:15:21.

to be faster in downhill. It is not helping in slalom.

:15:22.:15:33.

Unable to make the most of this opportunity. He will have a really

:15:34.:15:41.

good chance in Sunday's men's Super-G. Let us not forget the other

:15:42.:15:46.

Norwegian, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. We don't know how well he skis

:15:47.:15:53.

slalom. He has had some good results in the Europa cup in slalom. The two

:15:54.:15:59.

established sections, Bode Miller and Aksel Lunk Svindal, failing to

:16:00.:16:03.

make an impact. Sandro Viletta is getting closer to

:16:04.:16:08.

a medal. The Swiss still leads the way. Ivica Kostelic is in second. We

:16:09.:16:17.

have the five fastest man after the downhill to come. Max Franz of

:16:18.:16:23.

Austria. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, an all-rounder. Matthias Mayer, the

:16:24.:16:33.

all-rounder. Kjetil Jansrud is an unknown quantity in slalom committee

:16:34.:16:42.

is the to ski. -- in slalom, he is the last to ski.

:16:43.:16:54.

Max Franz is a good downhill skier, but you see he lacks the skills of

:16:55.:17:02.

slalom to make an impact. His lead is just under a second. This is a

:17:03.:17:09.

scrap from Max Franz. It really is, it doesn't have the same flow.

:17:10.:17:16.

He is hacking the edges, hoping they will grip. So hard it is making him

:17:17.:17:21.

slow. And unrefined slalom technique from

:17:22.:17:26.

the Austrian. He now finds himself more than one second behind. Oh! A

:17:27.:17:38.

pirouette out of the course. 360 from Max Franz. No damage done.

:17:39.:17:44.

He managed to straddle that gate, I thought he was going to do a front

:17:45.:17:50.

row. He ended up doing a pirouette, as you say. A pretty good recovery

:17:51.:17:55.

from Max Franz. The letter macro is getting closer

:17:56.:18:01.

to a medal for Switzerland. -- Sandro Viletta.

:18:02.:18:09.

It is worth doing a bit of a warm up.

:18:10.:18:16.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is next to go, no relation to the great Kjetil

:18:17.:18:28.

Andre. But he was given his name, in his honour. Here is the young

:18:29.:18:37.

Norwegian. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, he is fourth fastest after the

:18:38.:18:42.

downhill from this morning. And he is down. Oh, dear me. He did start

:18:43.:18:50.

well for three gates. Looking for a way back in. With Matthias Mayer

:18:51.:18:57.

next, you would think... As he comes down... He whips the snow but that

:18:58.:19:07.

ski pole and goes chasing after the errant ski. I would suggest the

:19:08.:19:10.

letter macro is now guaranteed a medal. It -- Viletta.

:19:11.:19:26.

All ending rather unfortunately for Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, he never

:19:27.:19:29.

really got going. Ondrej Bank is a good slalom skier.

:19:30.:19:54.

You say that could be the first Czech mail medal. It could be gold.

:19:55.:20:00.

The way we have seen almost half the field crash out, it could equally be

:20:01.:20:05.

a trip into the nets. Three more to go. Matthias Mayer is the Olympic

:20:06.:20:15.

downhill champion. His lead coming into the slalom section is 1.27

:20:16.:20:20.

seconds. He has started OK, he clearly knows his way through a

:20:21.:20:26.

slalom course. This reminds me of Christof Innerhofer. He is trying to

:20:27.:20:34.

stay clean, over the ski. But he is not as quick off his edges. I think

:20:35.:20:42.

Viletta is guaranteed a medal now. The course has been chewed up, this

:20:43.:20:55.

soft, springlike snow. Viletta will be among the medals. That is

:20:56.:21:01.

guaranteed. With just Ondrej Bank and Kjetil Jansrud to come. The

:21:02.:21:05.

Olympic downhill champion has given it a really good attempt but ends up

:21:06.:21:12.

in 11th. He knows he has an Olympic medal now, Viletta of Switzerland.

:21:13.:21:19.

His biggest threat is the man next to ski, Ondrej Bank.

:21:20.:21:26.

Ondrej Bank. No Czech male has won a gold. We saw a cross-country gold

:21:27.:21:49.

for the women in Turin. Ondrej Bank has an excellent opportunity to

:21:50.:21:54.

rewrite the Czech sporting record books. Look at his lead. 1.5 seconds

:21:55.:22:02.

over Viletta. We know he is a good slalom skier. He needs to be

:22:03.:22:06.

somewhere near his best on this tough, deteriorating course. This is

:22:07.:22:13.

a nice, smooth, relaxing start. He has lost a couple of tenths on the

:22:14.:22:18.

first part of the course. He is going to be about 7/10... Oh, no, he

:22:19.:22:29.

has lost a lot of time. Viletta might be heading for the silver

:22:30.:22:38.

metal -- medal. He is skiing cautious. He could end up

:22:39.:22:44.

empty-handed here. It could be that Ivica Kostelic will be guaranteed a

:22:45.:22:50.

medal with one to go. Innerhofer is third, he could be heading for his

:22:51.:22:55.

second hurdle. Ondrej Bank has blown it, he is sick. -- his second medal.

:22:56.:23:07.

Ondrej Bank really did not take any risk at all. You have got to take

:23:08.:23:12.

risks in the skin otherwise you are not going to be up there. -- in

:23:13.:23:19.

skiing. A disappointing run. You can't be

:23:20.:23:27.

throwing your pole up like that, you could hit somebody. He did. He is

:23:28.:23:34.

apologising. One more to come, Kjetil Jansrud.

:23:35.:23:36.

He already has a medal from the Olympic downhill. He takes his turn

:23:37.:23:47.

now. Starting 30th in the slalom stage of the super combined. Viletta

:23:48.:23:52.

preparing for Switzerland's second gold medal.

:23:53.:24:05.

Kjetil Jansrud, last to go. Not a bad slalom skier, has he got what it

:24:06.:24:17.

takes to dethrone Viletta officers learned in gold medal position? Not

:24:18.:24:31.

good. -- Viletta of Switzerland. The gold has gone. It is a question

:24:32.:24:37.

of whether he can end up on the podium. Christof Innerhofer will be

:24:38.:24:41.

waiting nervously, in third position.

:24:42.:24:46.

I don't think it is going to happen now, I don't think there'll be any

:24:47.:24:53.

change in the medals now. Ivica Kostelic is poised to take another

:24:54.:24:59.

Olympic silver. Kjetil Jansrud finishes in fourth, outside of the

:25:00.:25:05.

medals. The Olympic combined champion is Viletta, of Switzerland.

:25:06.:25:09.

Christof Innerhofer adds another medal, bronze this time, to his

:25:10.:25:15.

downhill silver. Ivica Kostelic takes the Olympic silver, as he did

:25:16.:25:24.

four years ago in Vancouver. I think Innerhofer can be very happy with

:25:25.:25:30.

his slalom performance, in the slalom. That is why he is so over

:25:31.:25:36.

the moon, he can't believe it. Kjetil Jansrud was so close, bronze

:25:37.:25:41.

in the downhill. But the worst possible position, forth today,

:25:42.:25:46.

having led in the downhill stage. There is the man who will be

:25:47.:25:50.

collecting a gold medal in Sochi. He came from a long way behind to do

:25:51.:25:56.

it. Ivica Kostelic didn't think he would get anything after his

:25:57.:26:00.

cautious slalom run. Innerhofer probably never even dream he would

:26:01.:26:04.

be among the medals when he woke up this morning. It is Viletta's day in

:26:05.:26:09.

the men's super combined. Celebrations for the Swiss. Another

:26:10.:26:25.

gold medal to add to Gisin's gold medal. And another for Innerhofer.

:26:26.:26:34.

What an Olympic Games. A bronze, a Silver, who knows he will complete

:26:35.:26:38.

the set possibly with a gold in the Super-G on Sunday.

:26:39.:26:48.

So, time for Viletta to start his round of interviews. Viletta is the

:26:49.:26:56.

Olympic super combined champion, he takes the gold. Silver to Ivica

:26:57.:26:59.

Kostelic, the same as four years ago.

:27:00.:27:06.

Emma Carrick Anderson, what a shock. Absolutely. Not the outcome

:27:07.:27:16.

we expected. Good to see Ivica Kostelic with the silver. Slightly

:27:17.:27:20.

disappointed maybe because he already has two silver medals. An

:27:21.:27:26.

unlikely podium. Where did Viletta win that? He went in the middle of

:27:27.:27:34.

the field. He thought, I have an advantage. It's not chopped up too

:27:35.:27:38.

much, and he went for it. Some of the guys held back. But he blew it

:27:39.:27:46.

away. Ivica Kostelic, his dad provided the course. What will his

:27:47.:27:51.

emotions be? A Silver is amazing. Deep down, when he watches the

:27:52.:27:55.

replay, he might think he could have given it a little more. He looked

:27:56.:28:03.

like he had a little in reserve. Skiing the course so much better

:28:04.:28:06.

than everyone else. He put them to shame. He did. He is not the best

:28:07.:28:14.

slalom skier so it is a surprise. He has had two top tens in the combined

:28:15.:28:20.

this year so he had it in him. He must have thought, anything is

:28:21.:28:26.

possible. Another medal for Innerhofer, after silver in the

:28:27.:28:31.

downhill. Lovely, seeing him ecstatic. He has had a great Games

:28:32.:28:37.

so far. Big questions in the American camp, Ted Ligety has been

:28:38.:28:41.

skiing well in the World Cup circuit. And Bode Miller. What has

:28:42.:28:48.

happened? Really disappointing. Bodie especially, I really wanted

:28:49.:28:52.

him to do well. He has been so strong. It is a shame. It has not

:28:53.:29:02.

gone his way. Both will be hugely disappointed. They both held back to

:29:03.:29:07.

match. Bodie in the downhill made the same mistake as in the actual

:29:08.:29:14.

men's downhill. Conditions playing a big part?

:29:15.:29:17.

Massively, especially today. Until now, it has not played that much.

:29:18.:29:25.

But, today, big time. It is very soft on the bottom section. A nasty

:29:26.:29:30.

hole but luckily nobody fell in. The slalom, the top direction -- the top

:29:31.:29:38.

section was really bumpy. Let us get ready for tomorrow, our

:29:39.:29:43.

next action from the Rosa Khutor Alpine Centre will be the women's

:29:44.:29:44.

Super-G. It is 30 years since Torvill and

:29:45.:31:42.

Dean won gold in 1984. Since figure skating became an Olympic sport, and

:31:43.:31:49.

before you ask if the Winter Olympics started earlier, figure

:31:50.:31:56.

skating started in the Summer Olympics. Torvill and Dean got a

:31:57.:32:02.

perfect score. They have speaking it again today in Sarajevo -- skating.

:32:03.:32:11.

This is what it looks like 30 years later.

:32:12.:32:35.

Beautiful images. Here is Jane's reflections on a day that changed

:32:36.:32:47.

their lives. As a child, I was quite shy. I think

:32:48.:32:53.

when I was on the ice I felt like somebody different, someone else.

:32:54.:32:59.

You were in your own little world, your own space. I think over the

:33:00.:33:04.

years it brought out a different personality in me and lots of

:33:05.:33:10.

confidence. The first time I went to the Irish drink was on a school trip

:33:11.:33:14.

when I was about eight or nine -- I went to the ice rink. I loved the

:33:15.:33:20.

feeling of the glide and the speed you could get and the different ways

:33:21.:33:26.

you could do things on skates. The ice rink where I started skating was

:33:27.:33:33.

quite an old building and a little bit run down but for me it was a

:33:34.:33:38.

magical place, even though there were lots of mice and rats. After I

:33:39.:33:44.

do not know how many weeks I pestered my parents for my own

:33:45.:33:49.

skates and they bought me a second-hand pair and I was allowed

:33:50.:33:53.

to have one lesson a week which I absolutely loved. After so many

:33:54.:34:05.

years skating quickly became my priority and certainly when I

:34:06.:34:08.

started skating with Chris it was my life, even though at that time Chris

:34:09.:34:22.

and I both had full-time jobs. For us to find the time to skate, it was

:34:23.:34:34.

out of 9-5 hours, there was not a lot of time available to us. We were

:34:35.:34:39.

in our early 20s when we realised we had a chance possibly all the gold

:34:40.:34:46.

medal, so we made a decision to give up our jobs and concentrate so that

:34:47.:34:58.

we could skate full-time. Each year we had to come up with something new

:34:59.:35:03.

and push ourselves and we started to get very creative in the routines we

:35:04.:35:12.

were doing. Everything was geared around leading up to 1984 because

:35:13.:35:18.

this was our Olympics, this was our chance. It is hard to describe the

:35:19.:35:32.

feeling of that performance. It feels like a dream sequence. It

:35:33.:35:35.

feels like I was looking down on someone else doing that. Luckily for

:35:36.:35:48.

us, on that evening it went well. We have our own feeling of how it went

:35:49.:35:52.

and it is when you watch it back that you see it for what it is or

:35:53.:35:58.

what it was, but the feeling you had performing it was completely

:35:59.:36:08.

different. I remember the moment when all of the sixes went up, there

:36:09.:36:20.

was a massive roar. I remember looking up at the scoreboard and

:36:21.:36:24.

seeing all of the sixes and thinking, wow, I think we have done

:36:25.:36:36.

it. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have won the gold medal. I did

:36:37.:36:40.

not think I young girls from Clifton would ever be an Olympic champion

:36:41.:36:46.

but it goes to show that you should never stop dreaming. My dream

:36:47.:36:51.

started small and got bigger and bigger.

:36:52.:36:57.

It was a dream for the whole nation. One of the all-time greatest British

:36:58.:37:05.

sporting moments. The British men will be up against Denmark later in

:37:06.:37:11.

the curling. Eve Muirhead and the girls have been playing against

:37:12.:37:12.

Japan. Let us look at the table. We are going to join this match in

:37:13.:37:32.

the sixth end. Partial success. It is important to

:37:33.:38:06.

keep the route through clear. The Japanese skip will try to replace

:38:07.:38:13.

that I am sure. This came about because of one error from Anna

:38:14.:38:20.

Sloan. We have last stone here so Eve

:38:21.:38:38.

should not panic too much and I am sure she will not be.

:38:39.:38:52.

This is the route down every time that they have had difficulty with

:38:53.:39:01.

that is starting to come round now. A little long. She has covered

:39:02.:39:10.

enough of the stone to prevent what is an easy 44 -- double for Eve. She

:39:11.:39:36.

wants to come round and tap back to score a one. A little bit

:39:37.:39:42.

unfortunate for Great Britain because we had set up what was

:39:43.:39:45.

looking to be a very nice end, but it shows you how one stone can

:39:46.:39:54.

change the whole end. We made a mistake but the Japanese girls did

:39:55.:40:01.

capitalise on that by putting on these successful guards.

:40:02.:40:12.

We have to watch this line. We have seen it a few times. It stays in and

:40:13.:40:27.

gets the two. What a great shot from Eve Muirhead, she is playing a great

:40:28.:40:34.

match leading from the front. Taking the opportunity with an excellent

:40:35.:40:39.

shot. She was asked the question and she came up with a definite reply.

:40:40.:40:44.

Despite the efforts of the Japanese skip, and that was a much better end

:40:45.:40:52.

for them, they still find themselves down. It is still tied in the match

:40:53.:41:03.

between Russia and Switzerland. If Russia were to lose that they would

:41:04.:41:08.

find themselves in a precarious position with four losses and

:41:09.:41:15.

Switzerland lose that would be three in a row. Denmark have been head

:41:16.:41:27.

back a little by the USA, leading 4-2. China leading Korea 6-3.

:41:28.:41:51.

Claire Hamilton being asked to draw this one in.

:41:52.:42:01.

We have watched enough Games that you would look at the table and it

:42:02.:42:11.

would have a familiar look about it with Canada and Sweden at the top

:42:12.:42:15.

and Britain and Switzerland and China below that.

:42:16.:42:34.

The two teams considered to be the big rivals before we arrived. I

:42:35.:42:44.

suppose it is as expected up until this point. Qualification in the top

:42:45.:42:51.

four is what we are looking for. That is the first order of the day

:42:52.:43:00.

and then after it is a new competition, it is not outstayed

:43:01.:43:12.

after that. -- knockout stage. You have to make sure you get

:43:13.:43:18.

qualification. Finishing in the top four will give you a semifinal

:43:19.:43:37.

place. The top four will play. I guess there's something about

:43:38.:43:39.

finishing top because then should face what is a weaker team but the

:43:40.:43:45.

top four who qualify there should be no weak teams. You will not have to

:43:46.:43:53.

go back to what happened in 2002, their record was five wins, four

:43:54.:44:06.

losses. It was either five and four or four and five. The point is, they

:44:07.:44:11.

were not top of the table and they ended up with a gold medal. They

:44:12.:44:23.

only had one game yesterday and Eve was making the point it would have

:44:24.:44:27.

been good to be in here in the evening yesterday when you are

:44:28.:44:32.

playing well and full of confidence. Going back to the idea of the

:44:33.:44:35.

tie-breaks, if you finish top, there is a break and you could be in the

:44:36.:44:41.

second semifinal and if you played on Monday morning you have got

:44:42.:44:46.

yourself through and you're not going to be back until Wednesday

:44:47.:44:50.

evening. So you have to take a break when you are playing well, and it is

:44:51.:44:55.

almost like starting again full is so however well you have played,

:44:56.:44:58.

particularly if you have unwell in the Round Robin -- if you have done

:44:59.:45:07.

well, there is going to be that break. It is always difficult to

:45:08.:45:13.

know if that break is a benefit or not. They will get the opportunity

:45:14.:45:21.

to come in and have a practice but that is not the same as match

:45:22.:45:25.

practice before you are playing. That was one of the benefits for

:45:26.:45:31.

Rhona Martin. The dynamic is a little bit

:45:32.:45:51.

different. Even in these round robin stages, you will hear teams saying,

:45:52.:45:57.

we are playing well. There is nothing worse when you have a game

:45:58.:46:05.

off. Downtime can often, I don't know, you get fed up or board. It is

:46:06.:46:15.

often good in the conditions, you just want to play.

:46:16.:46:24.

-- in the competitions. That is the role of the team

:46:25.:46:26.

manager, to help them relax, That is the role of the team

:46:27.:46:52.

us. But, hugely important to continue your concentration. For

:46:53.:47:01.

those of you who are not so familiar with the rules of the game, we are

:47:02.:47:05.

trying to take off these corner guards which could be utilised by

:47:06.:47:10.

the Japanese team to try to come round behind. To create some cover

:47:11.:47:13.

for them. Working as hard as they could to get

:47:14.:47:26.

it around that guard, but just clipping it. Sitting out there. You

:47:27.:47:32.

can see the shot that Eve is calling.

:47:33.:47:38.

Yumie Funayama has been playing reasonably well, tried to give the

:47:39.:47:44.

skip as many opportunities as she can. But she has been picking up the

:47:45.:47:50.

debris of the front two. Anna Sloan just needs to compose herself and

:47:51.:47:52.

find her shots. On her takeouts before that, she was

:47:53.:47:58.

shooting at 42%. It has been quite quiet in here. It

:47:59.:48:33.

is a real tight match Russia are playing with Switzerland. It has

:48:34.:48:39.

been very quiet, they haven't had much to cheer, a low scoring game

:48:40.:48:47.

there. 2-2. I think they have just woken up.

:48:48.:48:55.

Looking to try and sneak in behind these three. Which is just going to

:48:56.:49:04.

catch the first one again. They are doing their best. I told you they

:49:05.:49:07.

had broken up. -- woken up. This is proving to be another

:49:08.:49:29.

difficult end for Japan here. Yumie Funayama, playing third. Two shots

:49:30.:49:40.

have curled into much. Not getting past that corner guards. -- guard.

:49:41.:49:51.

Russia had picked up two on that end which is why the John King is going

:49:52.:49:56.

on. A clear view of this Japanese stone.

:49:57.:50:09.

That is looking pretty good at the moment.

:50:10.:50:20.

Becoming draining for the Japanese skip, the pressure has never been

:50:21.:50:22.

taken off. Obviously, they only have four ends

:50:23.:50:41.

left and they fall down. Taking a one will not help their case. What

:50:42.:50:47.

would you do here, Jackie? At what point do you start to get desperate?

:50:48.:50:55.

Maybe a helicopter shot to bring a yellow stone into the one foot.

:50:56.:51:03.

A potential problem for the draw in here. Eve's stones, or bundled

:51:04.:51:20.

together. Just above the four foot. Making it very difficult to get in

:51:21.:51:26.

behind. That is really tight. There still is a line. But she had

:51:27.:51:31.

to Mitchell she gets past that guard at the top and, hopefully, it will,

:51:32.:51:36.

for their sake, pull in. A really good effort.

:51:37.:51:42.

Once again, she has played a very good stone. Under a lot of pressure

:51:43.:51:52.

here. She is doing well. She has done

:51:53.:51:56.

everything she can, to be honest. She has been left with so few

:51:57.:52:01.

options. Keeps trying to make these big shots. Eve has a chance to tap

:52:02.:52:06.

her own against that one. Trying to promote this. So,

:52:07.:52:25.

controlled, that is a firm hit. Eve just wanting to catch that stone

:52:26.:52:29.

sitting on the centre line. To promote it back onto the yellow.

:52:30.:52:37.

If she gets this right, at best, it would be one to Japan.

:52:38.:52:45.

A great shot. Yet another great shot from Eve Muirhead.

:52:46.:52:53.

And, right from the onset of this match, she has been playing very

:52:54.:53:03.

well indeed. And, even when her team-mates have had the odd errant

:53:04.:53:07.

shot, Anna Sloan suddenly had one in this end, we keep having this

:53:08.:53:13.

situation where, unfortunately for the Japanese skip, the best she can

:53:14.:53:17.

do here is repeat another great shot and take another one. But, if she

:53:18.:53:25.

gets this wrong, we could all be going for an early bath, as they

:53:26.:53:29.

say. Five British stones in there.

:53:30.:53:39.

A well executed end by Great Britain. Eve Muirhead and Anna

:53:40.:53:47.

looking a lot more relaxed today. She played this shot a couple of

:53:48.:53:51.

minutes ago but it doesn't mean she will play it as well this time. It

:53:52.:53:57.

was almost perfect last time. Again, they are working that really hard. A

:53:58.:54:02.

small gap to come through, it is turning. And that is going to be

:54:03.:54:11.

five. We have had a seven for Great Britain in a previous match. That is

:54:12.:54:16.

the end of the game. Handshakes. Eve Muirhead has done it again. And her

:54:17.:54:20.

team have played really, really well in this second session. And that is

:54:21.:54:27.

another win, which will give them three wins and two losses. It was

:54:28.:54:32.

never in question, Japan struggled from the beginning, particularly

:54:33.:54:36.

their two youngsters playing lead and second. Claire Hamilton, Vicki

:54:37.:54:40.

Adams, Anna Sloan and Eve Muirhead, a job well done. Running out of 12-3

:54:41.:54:49.

victors against Japan. STUDIO: Good news for Eve Muirhead

:54:50.:54:55.

and the team. Another victory. That means the table makes much better

:54:56.:54:58.

reading for Great Britain. After a sticky start, things are

:54:59.:55:13.

looking up. In terms of the overall medal table, let's have a little

:55:14.:55:17.

look. Germany still proud at the top, they

:55:18.:55:22.

have had a really good Games, particularly in the Luge where they

:55:23.:55:24.

have taken all the gold medals on offer.

:55:25.:55:33.

Great Britain is in 20 Third Place. Just the one bronze medal for Jenny

:55:34.:55:39.

Jones. In the snowboard slopestyle. But that could be about to change.

:55:40.:55:46.

That third run for Lizzy Yarnold, 3:30pm on BBC Two. The actual run is

:55:47.:56:24.

at 3:40pm. Lizzy Yarnold is in a fantastic position to repeat success

:56:25.:56:30.

of Amy Williams in Vancouver four years ago.

:56:31.:56:36.

Stand on the start line, final day, legs shaking so much. I took a deep

:56:37.:56:47.

breath. I knew this was it. Power. Think of the things you have to do.

:56:48.:56:55.

Keep it together, Amy Williams could be Olympic champion. It is hanging

:56:56.:57:00.

in there. Amy Williams really is going for gold. The last turn,

:57:01.:57:04.

surely it is gold for Great Britain? Oh, yes! Amy Williams is

:57:05.:57:12.

the queen of speed in Canada. Being told I had one, someone telling you

:57:13.:57:18.

you are Olympic champion. There was a sense of relief. Finally

:57:19.:57:21.

I have done it, I knew I could always win. Lizzy Yarnold has

:57:22.:57:27.

already won a World Championship. Now she is going for Olympic gold.

:57:28.:57:31.

Half a second up. Coming up to the line.

:57:32.:57:39.

Lizzy Yarnold has a similar story to me, I see myself reflected in her.

:57:40.:57:44.

She watched me win gold and she knew she had for years to do the same.

:57:45.:57:52.

She has to go away, keep calm, be consistent, the consistency will win

:57:53.:57:56.

medals. To know your neighbours in the history book is a strange

:57:57.:58:00.

feeling. It is always going to be there. I am here for years later

:58:01.:58:05.

knowing someone will take my title and I really hope Lizzy Yarnold can

:58:06.:58:09.

do that and keep it in Great Britain. Any medals you bring home

:58:10.:58:12.

and you know you have the notion behind you. 14th of February 20 14th

:58:13.:58:20.

in Sochi, if she can win gold, it will be amazing. I can't wait to see

:58:21.:58:22.

what she can do. Amy Williams, very much in the

:58:23.:58:31.

Olympic books as Olympic champion. Lizzy Yarnold could be joining her

:58:32.:58:39.

later today. We will be back on BBC Two almost immediately. These other

:58:40.:58:46.

things to watch out for. -- are the things.

:58:47.:58:51.

That's it from me here on BBC One. Switch over channels and we will see

:58:52.:58:58.

you on BBC Two very shortly. Goodbye.

:58:59.:58:59.
