Welcome to snooker extra. If the 2014 World Snooker Championship. We

are focusing on England versus Wales. Your commentators are here

now. It will be interesting to see how

prompt performs in this match. There is a lot of expectation on him. --

for the black to the same pocket. That's the shot you would play, but

you need to take the cue ball back up to the bulk end.

Both longshots attempted have been a long way off, perhaps not settled

yet. He's got the data issues on again, haven't you? Those have got

impressive so far, Judd Trump. Relaxed, composed, everything you

need to be. He is up for it. He played so poorly in his first round

match against Tom, they have not been talking about him a winning

this tournament. But with this kind of form, he could be a runner. He

will not be scared of playing a O'Sullivan. Only two of three

players left in this tournament where that is the case.

Just about high enough to see the red. Now the frame is safe, possibly

making a century in this visit. In the first round, the highest was 72

in the world but the positional shots, sometimes, he let them sleep

and that is why he does not compete with someone like Sullivan on a more

regular basis. Not nice on the yellow, not nice on the blue. The

yellow as the cue ball travelling loose. He needs to get the pace

right here. He generated just about enough. The black is not available.

(APPLAUSE) . 28. Getting a bit more difficult

now. Nothing available of this blue to the right-hand corner. He may

need to leave the cue where it is now. He needs to be a press it. Yes,

he is playing to the half ball pot. -- he needs to be aggressive. That

is the first time he has missed a shot by a long way in this match.

(APPLAUSE) .

He missed the brown. Oh, dear, that is all you need, isn't it? An easy

shot. A couple of long ones he has missed. Now he has to face a tough

safety. Behind in the points. That is an excellent safety shot

from Ryan Day. You cannot live a longer pot on. OK, you might miss

. It is just a beautiful shot. He should get the upper hand now, just

roll in behind the green. As tight as possible. Try to cut the side

cushions out. But it is very hard. Especially in this situation, you

want to make sure you get the snooker. After you have played a few

frames, you have a better feel. You do not want to, wide pass this

thread. You will have to pay the red next to the centre. That may be easy

shot to play. He cannot be straight. He fancies of this. This is Ryan

Day's first real chance. A very poor lad so he does not need the rest for

this. I do not think he hit that as well

as he was hoping but he is still on the black. A decent chance to get

back into this frame. The black only points to one corner. It has made it

frames. It is amazing, both players have been in and that problem led to

A long, long away with that pot. The blue has disappeared as well. A good

chance for Judd Trump to get a few points. One.

He has got a red to the centre, he can get a nice angle on the blue to

smash it back. That is what he is looking for here.

Six. He can straighten the red and playful blue. He has an angle to go

on this. He will be looking to leave himself high on the black. It is

better to come to this pack. It is not want to be low. Sometimes, if

you hit too much bottom, it is a while before the spin takes effect.

See if he stuns it. That was a great shot. He is stunned it. That was the

way to play that. Where is the green going? Foul. He would be reasonably

pleased about the cue ball would be need the cushion. This red, passes

the other red into the corner. He would have to play at pace to hit

the cushion but it is difficult to get the desired amount of spin.

to go 2-1. It opens those other to read into

this corner. -- those other two reds.

A decent pot on the yellow. He is starting to feel more confident, I

think. Nice bounce. That cue ball has travelled almost put more than

it was supposed to. It just seems this table, that side of black, that

cushion... It's the same shot all the time. That's not bounced at all,

just a little bit further in. When you play topspin shots, or backspin

on the cue ball, it doesn't seem to bounce as much. He is playing on the

second red there. You can run through all three reds in the

opposite corner, but... That was just as easy as anything else.

This is the key positional shot. He just pushed those to read together.

This one is going to drop onto the cushion when his elbows. -- those

two reds. A couple of pots away from taking a

2-1 lead. He Okada still put the red in the middle. -- is OK to. That's

the reason. If you're straight on it you can't miss it. The frame is

still alive. Attacking shot here, read to the green pocket. -- red.

It's not bad. If it had hit the joint of the two

reds they both would have been in place. A little bit tricky on the

right-hand side. He may try to hit powerfully to want to get bring both

those reds into play. If he was a right-handed player he wouldn't play

to kiss the reds. He really wants to play it. He is going to have to play

with a trace of left-hand side. He has to play with some pace.

Otherwise it will adopt tight on the side cushion. That was unlucky.

Tried to use the topspin, almost banana cue ball. -- bananaed a cue

ball. I don't think the black or the black

or pink is any good now. He's got an angle on the black, though. In a 25

frame match, you get so many psychological times in the match we

need to pinch frames. This was a chance for the first. -- where you.

The read clearly plotted past the yellow, I can't believe it. -- red.

It was a chance to deliver the first blow in the match. A poor safety

Yes, that's the only shot he could have been playing. A great shot.

It's a bonus that he's hit the pink full ball.

Black not available in the corner. I don't know whether the pink is going

to be available. It might be. That could help.

Too much pace on the cue ball. These are tough.

He always likes to play every shot with a bit of pace. It's gone too

far up the table. Yes, he's got the wrong angle on the blue to go over

to the red in the red and black. That gap in between pink and black,

he's got to get the pace exactly right. Now he's missed the pot.

Didn't expect him to miss the spur, it looks straightforward, doesn't

it? Absolutely expected to get that. He is more comfortable punching

balls and dropping them in. It looked as if it was tight but in

fairness his artistic so... -- are too thick. If your property on other

lovely angle on the blue just smashing into the pack. -- he pots

it. It's not so easy to control the direction of the cue ball. We can

only presume that he thought it was at least two or three inches away

from the cushion but just lost that Kubot fraction. There is the angle

there. He's missed the pack by a fraction. If the cueball bores away

from the site cushion its on missable. -- side cushion, it's

unmissable. The Cuba path going back to the other end of the table. He is

going to have to get it. -- cueball.

Look very tough. That was an excellent pot.

He is looking to get further up the table so you can drop in the black.

That's what he's played. The red at the top of the bunch pots

to the right corner. You can just follow through to the black. Nice.

It's a more exact position. You've got all your eggs in one basket

playing for this one. Good recovery. You just want to play

kiss this time. Maybe a bit then from that. Looking at the deep

yellow, both of these players are blessed with an abundance of cue

power. Look how good that is. You just can't strike a ball that than

you believe it? He played the most brilliant shot from yellow to red?

It bounced 100 miles high. If you don't time that absolutely

perfectly, you always get kicked. I just wonder... It happens a lot. I

just hope it doesn't cost him the frame at this visit so he can go

one of these shots in the middle pocket. 17 points in front, both

reds needed. Just the last red needed. In the last frame with

senior miss a red and he's done it again. Not good for the confidence

when you keep missing pressure shots. There will be a lot more

He got mighty close. Where is it going to wind up? Not too bad. But

Judd will be taking this on. He got very close. Judd's turn to have a go

at a long one. There is a shock. What a good safety shot he has

. That is another good safety shot. I

think he can just see the edge of the red. That is unlucky. The red is

going to be going out to the left-hand corner. He needs to cover

the red hard. So that it does not go on the cushion. Good shot. Very

to the red. Thinking black and blue again. Just took the pace of the cue

ball when it hit. That is a good shot. He left a pot on. -- that is a

four frames. Ryan Day needed three chances to win that frame. They go

to the interval all square. Frame five. Judd Trump to break.

Could not be more evenly poised. In fairness, Ryan Day could probably

have led 3-1. On reflection, that is just about a fair score.

(APPLAUSE) . One. Ryan Day getting a faster

bounce off the cushion then he was ten. This is such a pace. It is

guaranteed to be on a colour. A nice confident pot. Three. He

needs to make sure he is high on this black to get rid of the red to

the right of the black. Just a little bit low. He is going to be

disappointed with that little shot there.

Phenomenal cue power. The cue ball comes out of the cushion. Come back

to wards the red. Neither black. Pupil will -- cueball will be going

to safety. That was the plan. It was not expecting to hit the bump in the

middle pocket. -- he. He played that well. Little bounce

of the cushion gives them a chance to play the two reds and the pink.

It appears the only things available on the left-hand side of the pack.

He needs to make something happen. He does not necessarily have to go

for the pink. He may go for the red. Unfortunately that him, he missed

the blue. It did not see that coming. The only good thing as far

as Judd is concerned, he hit the red he wanted to. More red to become

available in the left-hand corner. He appears to have got away with it.

The less -- unless he plays off the cushion, I do not see how he can get

to the ball. I can only presume he's trying to hit the pink on the half

ball but he is almost bound to leave the red on. Even if he hits that...

It is going towards the brown and yellow so there's no way can get the

red out of pocket. Foul. The opportunity of a red to the left

corner. Two or three years ago he would not have hesitated to take

that on. Brian gets away with a safety shot but he will regret that.

The blue is off the middle. -- Ryan. Fail and a miss. Judd Trump, four.

-- foul. It is easy to take it on but even if it takes the red, I just

cannot see how we can get the white without kissing the brown. He has

hit its quarter ball. Foul. It might not be a bad result with where the

red was hit. Yes, if he can play the one over the

corner pocket, he has the blue available in the corner. If he plays

it hard, try to get the cue ball back into the top end of the table,

it is tough. He has played it hard. And at doing that, he is leaving

eight pot red. I can understand him taking the red on but I cannot

understand leading it where the red is. This is my argument when he

missed the snooker the first time. He left Judd medium-range pot to the

red Corner. If he played the shot correctly, he would have to play a

more difficult shot. Perhaps a missed opportunity. One.

He did well. It is always hard to screw back because you are virtually

bouncing into the blue. He still managed to get the screw. A very

good shot. If he can get on to the pink nicely, he has a chance of

getting a sizeable lead in this frame. Very soon he will be able to

get onto the black in the left corner as well. A good chance. The

pink is the obvious ball to playful but he is tempted to screw up with

the blue. To clear the spot. But he is playing for the pink. Seven.

13. (APPLAUSE)

. The reason a red available in the

middle. That was dangerous. Ryan Day, 13. I think many had the shot

on the rest, it was easy to play for the pink in the middle but I think

for the purposes of winning a frame it was a better shot to go for the

blue. He is going to get another chance at it. That is a let off.

That is very unlucky. He still has a pot on but, as you can see, it is

very difficult. If the white was a couple of inches further in play,

you would fancy ten out of ten but this is not one of those

situations. It might have been tight on the cushion. He cannot hold it

for the blue. Decided to play for a colour. A good shot, that. Seven.

(APPLAUSE) .

Well controlled. He has done enough. You can see, the black is

available in the same pocket. He has to finish low on the black. Great

chance now to take the lead for the first time in this match. He has

been playing catch up every time. The break goes to 31. Getting closer

to the winning line now in this frame. Lots of good pots but

Melbourne is a winning frames the first visit. -- but no one is

winning frames. The kick on the shot similar to this

in the previous frame but did not cost him the frame. I thought he

played on and off the cushion. That would have been the obvious shot.

Again, he has missed frame ball. That is three frames in a row. Not

playing the black off the cushion, Stephen. I can only presume he is

playing the percentage shot. Not risking bouncing off the cushion or

hitting it too hard. That is a poor miss. At the World Championship, you

have to take advantage of your opponents's misses. At least 70%

-80% of the time, if you want to win this tournament.

(APPLAUSE) . That was the frame ball. 51 point

in front now. They obviously could tie but he will be pushing the

colour safe here. It looks perfect, just to push the brown safe but he

is thinking of putting the black safe. White? I do not know. It is

amazing. At times like these, players tend to outthink

themselves. I agree with you, really. Push the brown on the side.

And the black is not safe so there is no advantage in that shot

whatsoever. I am not too sure whether Judge can

miss the red on the pink spot taking the spot on. -- Judd. Excellent

shot. He probably wishes he put it safe now because even if he hits it,

he will do well not to leave a pot. The brown being safe on the brown

cushion now would have been a real bonus. Would you risk playing this

red? At think you pick an angle of two cushions, near the pink. It is

almost impossible to miss them both if they come off to cushions. What

Stephen is that, he could leave this thread on, and he has done and he

can get to the black with power but thread on, and he has done and he

it makes the red a lot tougher, look thread on, and he has done and he

at the angle. It is not fancy it. -- he does not fancy it.

It is tough to get on the black from the angle he has on the red.

This is one of those where you have to hit and hope. I do not think you

can hit this to save the start. In our hazard the four points. He

pace to play the pink. Ideally, he would have liked to get onto the

to get on the pink. You would play for the black, Stephen? I think that

pink is OK. You can play it into the middle which is not too difficult to

get on the yellow but if you finish straight, it could create problems.

I think pink is not a bad ball to playful. -- playing for. This is

too much attention to the school the time. You've got to look at the

scoreboard, but maybe sometimes you want to take the pressure off by not

looking for a while. We were saying how talented Ryan Day is, but he is

not perhaps the success his talent deserves. That's what separates the

great from the good, you have to be able to deal with pressure. He just

lacking that little bit of killer instinct.

It's not on from the right-hand side is the Raiders the way. -- because

a little bit raw at times. Two more reds, two killers, and he

will lead 4-2. The Dan at 76. Once again, Ryan Day

has missed easy balls. -- broke down. The final frame of this

he missed that. Look where the cueball is, perfect.

Another most safety shot from Ryan Day. His got the black in the

corner, and the way he is at the moment I expect him to take it on.

Trying to hit the red half ball there, not the black, but... The

blacks going to be tied up after it spotted. Chances of screwing quite

heavily. He is looking exceptional now. That's more like the Judd Trump

this afternoon with some amazing shots.
