Day 6 World Championship Snooker Extra

Hello again. Thursday at the Crucible in Sheffield, in this 2017

Betfred World Championship, was the start of the second round. The first

of those last 16 matches to get going featured the world above three

and the 2015 world champion here, Stuart Bingham. You might recall in

round one he saw off the challenge of another former winner here, Peter

Ebdon. Peter Ebdon is on record as saying he fancies Kyren Wilson, from

Kettering, to become a world champion here within the next three

years. Peter has a good eye for talent. In fact, it was he who first

spotted Kyren Wilson's talent, when he was only six years of age. But

with that potential translates into quality on the table today -- but

will that potential? In this best of 25 frames match played over three

sessions we'll be seeing eight frames in the company of the

aforementioned Peter Ebdon and Willie Thorne.

COMMENTATOR: My co-commentator will be breaking

up the first frame, remember now, it's the best of 25. This is eight

frames in this first session. Peter, I know you are a big fan of Kyren

Wilson and I think it's 50-50, this game. It's a fascinating battle in

prospect. One of the game's great ambassadors and champions, former

world champion in Stuart Bingham, one of the hardest workers on the

circuit. Deserves absolutely everything he gets from the game,

against one of the game's great young talent and a future champion,

for sure. That's not a bad way to start. It's

the first shot you play, if you get them you get a boost and think,

that's handy, I'm cueing well. Like all of the good players these days,

rather than play a shot for nothing, they play a shot for something.

Yellow or brown, it doesn't matter which.

He's playing the brown. He's played this nicely, trying to get to the

left of the black so he can pot that and flick the Reddaway. He could

have done with that coming down another six inches for that to be a

certainty. I'm not too sure he can do that, without moving the black.

If that was another foot further down it would have been a very easy

shot to flick the red away from the black. As it is now, safety shot

coming up. I know, Peter, you were practising

with Kyren before the World Championship. In practice, he must

be a really heavy scorer, I should imagine? Yes, he's a wonderful

player, great all-round player. Excellent safety player. His long

game is tremendous. Scores very heavily in amongst the balls. One of

the best players with the rest I've ever seen. And also very central

striking. Being able to play an excellent playing ball games are to

be perfectly honest, he really doesn't have any weaknesses in his

game, and in my honest professional opinion he just needs a little bit

more experience. But he's certainly capable of winning this tournament.

He's good enough, that's for sure. Has a very, very tough opponent here

in Stuart Bingham though. It's a fascinating match in

progress, that's for sure. That's one of the things I like

about Kyren Wilson, he always plays the attacking shot. I don't think

he's got the angle to get onto the black. Never afraid to play the

right shot. A slight chance he could just run through and play the black,

but that's going to be very difficult, so I doubt whether he'll

play that. He played it in off the left-hand

jaw, actually. This is really tough, if he decides to take this on. He's

very aggressive, very attacking. These are really tough.

Very interesting to see Stuart Bingham, actually. He's had a new

waistcoat made for today's match and he has a Ruby back on his way and of

course that is the 40th anniversary of the Crucible. I think it's a nice

touch. Celebrating 40 years at the Crucible

with a Ruby back. I must admit, I thought it was a

green backed waistcoat. There's the badge the players have,

40th anniversary of the championship and we've got at least another ten

years to come. That squared up a little bit off the

second question, actually. I thought that was going to be perfect.

Doesn't seem to be sliding off the second cushion the way they normally

do, Peter. Well, they've only been recrossed recently as well, so he

should be getting some slip and slide from the questions -- they

have been recovered. That time, there was lots of slide.

If this red goes, he certainly won't be having the cue ball replaced.

Obviously very tight. But from Stuart's body language, this does

go. That's really tight. You can certainly see the left-hand jaw, as

we can see from that picture there, but we talk about players pinching

the pocket sometimes. He's going to have to pinch the pocket to pot

this. And he has done, nicely. Well done.

He escaped from the snooker. May decide to go into that cluster of

six reds here just to open them up. He can play at a pretty pace as well

if you wanted to. He's not even played to go into them, but he may

regret that in a moment. Stuart played that very well. Never

easy when you are digging down. Onto the cue ball. With the butt of the

cue raised in the air. It's very easy to put some unintentional and

unwanted side on. He's not in prime position. Simply

because he's having to stretch on the screen, may end up playing the

shot with the rest. He'll be standing around off two cushions and

hopefully avoiding the yellow and blue.

He avoided the yellow. Didn't avoid the blue, but that's OK. Well

played. It's in your eye line when you are playing that shot, you want

to finish anywhere around the blue and that's why he got very close to

the blue, as Peter thought he might do. This was the reason I thought he

may have played into the bunch, he may have a slight angle here. If

not, he's going to have to play for the red on the side cushion.

This is where the work starts. He has to finish low on this next

black. Always interesting to see how

players play this particular shot. To get it absolutely perfect

community to hit the joint of the red Kamouna three reds in front, the

joint on one of the right-hand side in the middle one, hit the joint of

those two, that will spread them far and wide. If you hit it full ball,

you won't get a lot of movement. That's the problem, you can't get

the movement. If he'd caught either of those half ball, they'd have

moved a lot better. Watch how he hits it full ball.

I think he'll consider himself a little unfortunate, because he

played with 90 of pace and got plenty of action on the cue ball,

but as you say, didn't quite get the correct cannon. This is tough. Wow.

I thought that was in for a second. It was a very good effort. And

there's a gap. There's always a gap. As JB says, there's always a gap. So

that was the first real chance of Stuart Bingham. Ina May not get

another one in this frame. Kyren has finished a bit straight on

the black. If he does have plenty of cue power.

He may be playing the deep screw for the left red into the centre. That's

what is played for and he's got into it too well. I think he's just OK.

Interesting to watch the white bear, because it's a brand-new cloth, it

skidded and the side spin took and the screw back, excellent.

Playing for the bottom red of the four. He played a cannon. Don't

blame him for that. Just watch this black he played in the previous tie.

Because it is a brand-new cloth, sometimes they skip through. It

seemed to stop for a while, then speed up. A brilliant shot. To be

the perfectly honest it's a good job he didn't get any sort of bounce off

the side cushion otherwise he would have snooker himself behind the

blue, but it was a wonderful shot. It was a very good indication of

just how much cue power Kyren Wilson possesses. This is an excellent

chance now to take this first frame of the morning. Afternoon, rather.

This really is a fascinating clash, because both of these top players

score very heavily in amongst the balls when they are playing well. I

really fascinating encounter. That wasn't the greatest positional shot

in the world from Kyren there. But he's very good with the rest,

normally. This shouldn't be too much of a problem.

And that's a nice little cannon to hold perfect position for the pink

into the left centre. Well played. Maybe perhaps should have had a look

at the black there. The only reason I'm saying that his age will need

the brown at the moment. If he'd got two blacks he'd have been 22 infant

by the time it came to the brown. -- 22 in front.

The way up the brown and the way these pockets play, it's a lot

easier playing off the black cushion along the cushion, but you'd

probably want to move the brown into play, rather than drop behind it,

wouldn't you? Yes, because if you get right behind the brown, you have

to play at a dead weight, really, to give the pocket a chance of

accepting the ball. And at least if the cannon goes wrong, you can then

play a good safety shot. It doesn't look like he has the angle to bring

the brownout. You may be able to play off the side cushion. I think

he's come an inch too far. May have to play this with a lot of side. He

will be playing the cannon here, make no mistake.

Whenever you play this side with power, it's a tricky shot. There's

the side, that was the cannon. Missed it. Now then, absolutely no

value at all in going for the pot, but how does he get safe? Well,

knowing Kyren and the fact that he's very aggressive and a very attacking

player, I wouldn't be surprised if he took Chris brown on. I'm not

saying it's the right shot but he's got a tough safety shot. I can't see

a safety shot, can you? Unless he played it cushion first and tried to

get the brown very thin, but the Brownies coming into open play, so

that's not a good choice. No. Yes, faced with a dilemma here. An

incredibly tough pot on an equally difficult -- or an equally difficult

safety shot. I think he was thinking about pushing the brown onto the

green side cushion for a second, but that would leave a very simple

safety shot. I think he's going for this.

That was tough. He's been very, very fortunate there. I didn't think

there was any in the world he could play the slow pot and not leave it

on should he miss it, but that's exactly what's happened. Stuart has

to make sure the brown comes to at least behind the brown spot again.

This is very good, this is tight. Just drifted a little bit too much.

This is certainly a thin neck if he decides to take this on. -- snick.

And although it's not easy, this is a chance for Stuart.

I think he slightly erred on the side Wood side of caution. Yes, it's

always better thin than thick, because the cue ball stays around if

you get it fixed. This is three shots on the trot, very similar.

Looking at the potting angle again. You'd like to get the white where it

is now, he has have a chance of getting away with it. If it goes in

you have a long blue. He's played in and out of baulk. Has

he got a good kiss, or a bad one? A bad one.

23 points ahead, with only 18 on the table.

Half chance for Stuart Bingham here, the regular shot to nothing.

It's quite a long way away. I'm sure this red will pass the green.

I think he can screw directly back, but he could overscrew this. He's

playing for the red that's free on the left-hand side of the pink. He

was so concerned about overscrewing it, he's slightly overscrewed it. --

he's slightly underscrewed it. It's not an ideal angle. Whichever

of these two reds he decides to take on, one on each side of the table.

As I mentioned previously, he is normally a very good rest player.

He caught that red half ball rather than pottable, he'd have been

perfect on the black. That's the reason Peter says he's unlucky and I

agree with him. Foul and a miss. And possibly thought that, ...

Clever that, didn't want to hit it on the right-hand side obviously

because that would have left an easy red. Got it wrong first time, got it

perfect the second. A good opportunity here for Stuart

to get the cue ball behind the green on the baulk cushion.

He's not judged the angle very well where.

This is quite a thin snick woman needs to be careful with the in off.

-- this is quite a thin snick will stop he needs to be careful with the

in off. Is a tendency on those safety shots

to go slightly too thin, because if you go to thick, OK, the in off is

not too much of a problem but if the cue ball rattles in the jaws of the

pockets it's very easy to leave your opponent an easy opportunity.

Meanwhile Stuart Bingham has played a much better safety shot. That's

where the cue ball should have been on his previous safety shots. That's

much better. Now, if his red was dead straight

along the baulk cushion, it's a good safety shot but he's left a slight

angle. He could take it on and go for the black but it's too straight

for that. It looks like it's possible to put this red in. But

it's as fine as you like, isn't it? I don't blame him for playing it

like this. It's a difficult pot, but he's unlucky to have brought that

red back into play. Very easy for Kyren.

We've already mentioned that Kyren is a very attacking and very

aggressive player. I think he'll be taking the opportunity here to play

hard stone screw shot into the pink, scatter the reds.

I certainly don't think that's how he played it. He missed the intended

cannon. So that looks like end of break.

Needs to put the disappointment of that opportunity wasted, really, out

of his mind and play good safety shot.

He's less Stuart Bingham something tempting.

Not quite settled yet, this morning, Stuart Bingham.

Just came around to see if the potting angle is OK on this right.

He virtually screw it near the white because his virtual impossible for

the colours are going, that is what he has done and played it very

nicely. About the kiss on the brown it was perfect. What a break! He has

a nice angle on the green. To go into the rates, should he choose to

do that. There is the possibility of a plant that can be made at the

bottom of the attack. He may well be on that plant and be

able to make this pot to be honest he was very fortunate to finish on

this plants like this? The green would have been easier shot to play.

He doesn't have to do anything with the cue ball because a half ball

will take him nicely onto the black. There is a gap between the two rates

directly above the black and if he hits the red in between those two

rates he will be plumb on to read and so this is a good chance now.

The brown was rather fortunate, but that is the kiss we were talking

about and now this is a frame-winning opportunity. It was

interesting to see before the previous shot by Kyren Wilson held

up his hand to apologise to Stuart Bingham, he realised he was very

fortunate to finish up on that plant there. This is not absolutely

straightforward because you have got the difficulty of the usage of the

spider and he also needs to avoid the cannon on the red and the black.

That is really well played. He could not have played that better.

Once again there is an angle because all of the reds are in the way of

one another and there is just the one made in the middle of the six

that will be left that will pass into the right-hand corner pocket

but I think you will play Another cannon here. There may even

be another plant there. Just offset into the corner black pocket. That

was nicely played, he left himself read in middle. After this bread,

all of the reds are available, he doesn't have to play anymore

cannons. I am a little bit concerned for his supporters because he hasn't

settled yet, his pace of play, or his pace of cue ball and his safety

at his break-building has been a stray so far this afternoon. He used

to play morning sessions but we have not started until 1pm today. The

break goes to 36 and the lead goes to 43, so two more rates and to

colours and Kyren Wilson will lead 2-0.

59. The frame is now safe. Can he get the first century of this match?

Played for the slightly more difficult red, played to get around

the back of that and get the red into the corner pocket. A very

apprehensive steward there, not looking in total control of his

emotions at the moment, try to get his concentration right. That is not

a bad case, he can drop right behind the red for the choice of middle

pocket or corner. What a shame. No century but an

excellent break of 71 and Stuart Bingham as something to think about

in the opening session as he trails 2-0.

Why is it that the same role of cloth can be playing slower today

than it was yesterday? It is not something that you can account for

and explain logically, it is just the way it is, sometimes it can be

atmospherics but this table is certainly playing slower and at the

moment Stuart Bingham is all at sea. He is really struggling out there.

Could it be the fact that the role of cloth has been kept in a place

that is damp, which obviously until they post on the table, it has not

had a chance to dry the table out to get, it is 45 degrees. Maybe it will

play better tonight. There is a very good chance that. Meanwhile, well,

what a shop that is. That was very, very thin. That is really thin. It

just flicks the blue there. That as a result because the blue the pink.

-- the blue passes the pink. Not much reaction from the cloth. Kyren

absolutely hammered that into the left hand back pocket. This is a

tough pot. It is overcut. Six, Kyren Wilson. This is possible. Stuart

needs to play a slight swerve here with right-hand side. He played it

very well. Yes, we actually saw the white move there and all of a sudden

it starts to bend. He controlled it nicely. Love to play the kiss on and

off the cushioning, to reds above the black would give position on

both of the other two words. He cannot believe he has missed that

case. I am surprised he didn't play the cider kiss there because

whatever happens it will kiss one of them even if it doesn't kiss the

other one. Yes. Stuart is absolutely distraught there.

Stuart Bingham, eight. That was a poor shot. He has been fortunate to

leave this autumn for Kyren Wilson. It is quite a big swerve as well so

it is possible that he could just as easily missed the red. Interesting

to see if this cloth takes a swerve, it seems to take a swerve quite

easily, doesn't it? You know yourself that sometimes it takes an

age for the cue ball to turn. This may once again be the fact that it's

running a little slow and maybe a little damp.

This is a really huge frame for Stuart Bingham. You will be

disappointed going into the mid-session interval, no matter what

happens, he will certainly be feeling a bit better if he can go

into that mid-session interval 3-1 down instead of 4-0 down. He would

have any idea what is happening to the cue ball. He is looking at the

red to the extreme left hand side of the pack. Is that comfortable? He

can't get through to it. I looked a bit dangerous. He was

pushing the boat out there. That wasn't a shot you would like to

play under run-through around the back of the black. You need to get

nicely on the red to get a bit of confidence. He hasn't made any

breaks yet, his highest was 28 in the first three frames that he would

just like to get something happening. He is straight on this

red and it is no good. There is a slight angle and the black is only

available into one corner at the moment.

That is another thing. When you know the table is playing well it is

amazing how sometimes you over here just tried to get the right angle.

Yes, Stuart is doing his best to readjust here. Really struggling to

control the cue ball. One thing that we do know is that Kyren can't

continue giving him chancing because sooner or later Stuart Bingham will

click. His positional play will come back, but not with shots like that.

He will be absolutely disgusted with himself, he will be furious. The cue

ball should have been at least a foot further to the left than that

but once again, I hate to keep going over it, but when a table is playing

a little bit damp it is so hard to get the cue ball moving. That would

have become a lot wider on the old cloth, as it was. Well done, good

recovery. Pink is clearly available but I

don't know if the pink is going to be tied up. Colin Humphries gives

him a little glance, the pink is obviously covered. Upon the brown

spot, the highest pot available. You can sense a distinct change in

Stuart Bingham 's body language now. I think he has really had enough

with the way things have gone so far. He has run out of position, not

in position anyway. You just sense that he has really had enough and

the fires are burning now. There is a feeling of aggression from Stuart

Bingham. It is necessary at the moment to make something happen.

That was a very good pot and not an ideal position. All of a sudden he

is looking better around the table. You would love the pink on the spot

but it is probably not the right way to play time because it may tell you

red up and it is easier to play the yellow and have the choice of two

red but in the pink, if he doesn't play perfectly it will cover a red.

Interesting to see what he plays, I think the yellow was definitely the

choice. That was not too bad at all. It is a good

shot. He has two more shots to play that is an aggressive is shot

because he needs to get rid of the red that is nearest the pocket. That

is why he is plain that one now are not the other one. Look at where the

cue ball is. Nowhere. It needed to be six or seven inches harder than

that. I don't know whether he has the power at the moment to get

around the table. The way the table display.

30. Keep our needed again. He needs to get this around two positions of

screw around the top side of the blue. Just wiped its feet. This side

is is -- this time it is top side of the blue. He will have to play the

yellow or pink. 32 points in front. He is bemused, isn't he? That is

what happens under pressure. Stuart Bingham, 33. He just went to

the well one too many times. 34 point lead is not enough whether

balls are. It was missable because he had to

play with pace, especially with the cloth playing a little bit slower.

He was fortunate not to leave Stuart something easier than this.

It is decision time for Stuart Bingham, does he try to protect his

lead? Does he push the boat out? He could do an attacking shot. I think

it is the former. Trying to keep the pressure on. Well, he has left a

long red here into the back left-hand pocket and it is just the

sort of shot that Kyren Wilson wants to take on. It is fraught with

danger obviously, and he needs to get this.

He was a long, long way away from that. It was one of those, he was 34

points in front and there was no way in the world who would have played

it like that but at 34 behind he felt he had a chance to pinch the

frame so I don't blame you for having a go at that but missing it

by so far could have cost him the frame.

I have never seen anything like this in terms of both players overheating

or underhitting shots. You can play this delicately, this pink into the

middle because it will go back onto its own spot. If you play the slow

stun into the middle it will still be on the opposite corner. I

wouldn't even be surprised if he decided to play the snooker behind

the brown and off the commission. -- cushion. Foul. Ramis. Free ball,

Kyren Wilson. You have got to remember to reach the brown.

Relying on good fortune, has he got any? Not too bad, but it will be

interesting to see if the rest percentage stays the same. 12 out of

five at the moment and can it be six out of six and he can reach it with

the extension is cue? How is the cannon? Pretty good. Well

done. Six. Seven. Just bringing that red two or

three inches of the commission has given Cairo an excellent chance to

clear. With the red where it was it was definitely second favourite. --

has given Kyren an excellent chance to clear.

12. It is not just about getting onto the next colour but getting

onto the next colour with a chance of dropping the final red. There is

another example of how this table is played. Back cue ball we would have

expected to be two feet further in the middle of the table than that.

A good pot. This table is playing very slow because the previous stunt

show that Kyren plate trying it on the black, he played with plenty of

pace but the cue ball just went nowhere. That black was really

missable and it was a very good pot underneath the circumstances.

It is another example of just how good Kyren Wilson is with the rest.

This was a red that Peter was talking about, look at how hard he

played it and just look at the White, it seemed to sink into that

top condition. He has retrieved the situation and has every chance now

of pinching the frame. This will really hurt Stuart Bingham. He could

have won the previous frame and he certainly was the strong favourite

to win this frame. Barring accidents, it is going to be 4-0.

29. The match has just come to the interval on the other table so there

is a little bit of movement which doesn't help the players.

Again, he seems to get into the cue ball there but he didn't get the

reaction all spin that he was looking for.

He will have to play this quite firm. It will be interesting to see

what sort of pacey event. He the pink. I am afraid that top cushion

just looks like a sponge at the moment. Hardly any reaction off that

top cushion. You have to take these on, don't you? If you want to play

safe. Game ball. He will be taking this into the

green pocket and he has the possibility of screwing this in with

the left hand side, of three conditions, possibly trying to get

the cue ball behind the black so there is an element of safety in

this shot as well. Very thin. That is an excellent shot. He dominated

this session and Bingham will be horrified and he is just sitting

there at the moment. He is going to play the black, but the frame is

over. Could quite easily have been 2-2 but it is not an Kyren Wilson

has played and won the opening four games and is in a strong position in

this match. Most players would be playing the

safety shot here but Kyren has taken this on the table has been playing

this morning he will have it is very hard. -- hit this very hard. Well,

he has not got away with it this time.

That is a nice opening red from Stuart Bingham.

It's a decent pot, this first red into the middle. But the red into

the middle again now. Really needs to make a sizeable break, just to

calm himself down. 33 is still his highest break. It's not that Kyren

is outplaying him at the moment, it's just that Stuart is missing.

We may get a chance to seal it in slow motion, he got a kick there.

The white did bounce when it hit the cue ball.

That was not lyrically horrendous kick. -- that was an absolutely

horrendous kick. When you are behind, that's just what you don't

want. That was by no fault of his own. And worse still, the red is

available and I think the black may be as well. We'll know after this

shot whether the black is available. Yes, he feels it is, so it must be.

With his shot on the Blackie brings both reds away from the black shot.

The fact that the pink at the moment has gone on to the black spot means

he doesn't have to go for the blue and bring the reds into play.

Somebody's earpieces a bit loud, can you please check them and turn them

down. Deep screw shot there with lots of

right-hand side. You see the side taking effect off

the cushion. As a red into the centre after this

pic. -- pink. Looks as if he's going for the blue,

after the red in the centre. Slightly underhit and has finished

straight on the red than he would like to.

This was the red that was stopping it going on the spot, I think.

Sometimes we talk about these tables, the cloth being so very

quick. We've known it's not so quick today. They talk about the Greens at

Augusta being very quick, very fast, I'll show you a gentleman in the

audience in a minute that's come back from Augusta.

Playing in the Masters, that's Brendan Taylor and his son next to

him. He manages Andy. He's a great, great player, and has come to watch

the snooker live at the Crucible. I presume the black pots, he'll take

the brown. He could even play the yellow, Peter, that's not a bad

choice. Yes. It will be a question of how the

cannon turns out. That will do very nicely. I red into the left corner.

Or the left centre. Going up for the blue here. This has

all come from that bit of an fortunate, Stuart Bingham's last

visit to the table. It will hurt him more than anything,

that these could and should have been all his. And horrendous kick,

that let Kyren in for this chance. That was another huge kick. It's

taken all the pace out of the cue ball. You see the cue ball jump.

Another example of how slow the table as again. He doesn't have to

do an awful lot with the cue ball, he's 51 points in front. Just the

red needed. Taking these well. Unlucky to have

had that and left Kyren this chance. He's had to sit there and suffer

now, and he knows he is somehow going to have to win at least tit of

the remaining three frames, if not all three. -- he has to win at least

two of the remaining three frames. He can't let someone of Kyren

Wilson's class get a 7-8 lead. Another excellent pot. The angle he

has on the pink, he could bring the two reds into play. No century, but

Kyren Wilson will be absolutely delighted. He's started playing very

well indeed. He now leads by 5-0. Kyren Wilson breaks off in frame

six. The match has come to an early end on the other table. They've got

this wonderful arena to themselves now. Stuart has been left the shot

to nothing. Under normal circumstances it would

have been difficult to hold for the blue from a cut like that. But

because this cloth is obviously playing considerably slower than the

previous cloth, he was able to hold for the blue there and played it

very well. What you tend to find when the cloth

is playing slower like this, just to move the cue ball around the table

the players end up having to play a series of either stun or very hard

stun shots when normally they would prefer to stroke the ball is as

smoothly as they could. These costs do throw and awful lot

with side, so you come through the cue ball off line and miss anything.

So it's challenging for both players, when the table is playing

slower. The other important aspects with

regard to that is the fact that when you hit the ball harder, obviously

the object balls are reaching the pockets with more pace, and that

makes the pockets play smaller. Slightly out of position, but played

that well. APPLAUSE

Very shortly, Kyren Wilson will be looking to leave himself an angle on

a colour to open up the pack of reds.

When the pink is just that in shots the pack, like it is now, would you

rather going to wait from the green or yellow, Peter? Definitely,

because there are also saw things that could happen. You could be

really lucky and hit the pink and the pink could slide off the pack if

you don't get a full contact on the pink. So even though the green here

is a little bit thinner than he would have liked.

He's taking the brown, he will have to hit this hard with lots of

right-hand side. Didn't quite... He would have preferred to have been on

the nice angle on the green, because the angle that he left himself on

the brown, he had to hit that really hard. Lots of right-hand side,

probably got too much side. So he'll be disappointed with that.

How on earth has he found the gap there between the pack of reds and

the pink? When things are going bad, you can only smile, can't you? It's

everything going wrong at the moment. Played the safety shot, red

into the pack and look at the red, straight through the gap and over

the corner pocket. It's not fair sometimes.

No real advantage in playing the pot on the blue here, purely because he

can't get onto a red. He may play the snooker behind the green.

Stewart is that it two points behind, so he'll be playing an

aggressive safety here, trying to bring back into play. The way his

luck is going at the moment, he wants to make sure red isn't over

the left-hand corner at the same time.

It's just not happening, just not happening. He can't enter shot

right. -- he can't hit a shot right. Another excellent pot. We keep

saying, when things are going right, but the pink into play. I suppose in

fairness, if you can cut them back into checks I don't come down this

play the pink. Maybe just plan to leave the cue

ball somewhere near the pink spot, so he has the reds in the middle.

This red obviously passes the pink, the bottom red of the three. You can

see it clearly it does. He's opened up the two reds to the

opposite corner. He has to be careful not to do

anything silly. This frame is here for the taking.

Just lost the cue ball touch there. It's a bit thinner than he would

have liked. The problem Stuart has got here is

he's got to go round the back of the black, I think and the way things

are going, he doesn't want to go anywhere near the black. He doesn't

want to risk playing into the black to get on the two reds. The pink has

to go on to its own spot, so maybe the red he can get onto is the one

he is nearest to now. He's just about got there, another

three or four inches of pace, very straightforward. All of a sudden

from being in prime position, he's having to do a few things with the

cue ball. That's a good shot. Choice of three

colours, yellow, blue or brown. This is the key shot, needs to go

round the back of the black. That was the problem. He never really in

the last 20 points off that break had the cue ball under control.

I know the balls were there for the taking but considering their way

things have gone for Stuart Bingham in this match, he did well to make

52. That's not a very good shot at all.

Perhaps fortunate that the red didn't end up in the pottable

position for Kyren into the right centre. Didn't get very good cue

ball where, Stuart. There may be some value in taking on

the cross table double here. Yes, a great effort, but this time

it's worked in Stuart Bingham's favour. You can see this red. I

don't blame Kyren at all for playing that shot the way he did. That was

about the only way it could have jawed Peter and left a pop on, the

way it finished. Yes, the reason I suggested that shot, it's almost

like a shot to nothing unless you get the result he did. It's very

rare you get that sort of outcome. Still, that's what happened.

Stuart Bingham will be mightily relieved.

Well, he'll be very relieved, knowing he needed two chances to win

this frame and luckily for him he got a second chance.

So Stuart Bingham made the highest break of the match for him so far,

the break of 52. He'll be a very relieved man to get a frame on the

board. Still two more to go, he trails 5-1.

It is great when you are in this position where you can play for a

choice of three reds out of one shot. That is after even thinking of

making a maximum, always leave yourself with a choice of shots, the

maximum, finish low on the next black and plain to the cluster of

five and you will still be on the red at the bottom of the pack. He is

thinking of the 147. 48. 49. The problem, should he decide to go into

the little cluster of five now, he hasn't got a red that can come to

his rescue. He may play for the loose one.

He may decide to play the thin red into the right centre but it is very

difficult. Taking the red into the left setter and he will be beyond

the black if this goes in. He has overcut it. Stuart Bingham, 56. He

He is trying to decide if he will leave the white anywhere near the

left-hand corner pocket and whether Stuart can cut this in.

He has got to be careful here. Stuart is 56 points in front and he

doesn't want the referee to say in a couple of shots time that this is

going nowhere and they have a couple of shots each to play an aggressive

shot otherwise it will be a re-rack. Kyren Wilson will want a re-rack

because he is 56 points behind. That happened to me once when I was ahead

against Andy Hicks and in the evening session we were warned after

a few bits of tip tapping I ended up losing the frame. I was very

pleased. Yes, it is not the sort of thing that happens very often, but

it can do. It is a very big risk for Stuart to play the aggressive safety

shot. Whether he is prepared to do that will remain to be seen. This is

a huge frame. The difference between 6-1 and 5-2. As John Parrott quite

rightly said in the studio if Stuart Bingham can finish this session only

5-3 down, he really would feel that he had had a tremendous results,

given the way he has played so far. And you feel that it may well have

to be Stuart Bingham that plays the aggressive safety shot because

trailing by 56 points, Kyren Wilson will just keep rolling into the

reds, he will want there to be a re-rack and that is the last thing

in the world that Stuart once. -- wants. Stuart Cleverley took the

opportunity to push a red onto the side cushion there. That was a bit

of insurance. It was insurance against Cairo and getting a good

opportunity in this frame. -- against Kyren getting a good

opportunity in this frame. Kyren has left a pot on but it is

fraught with danger. Stuart has to be careful of pushing another red to

the commission but this is going nowhere at the moment.

Kyren is had a look to see if he can play a shot here and pop the red in

the middle. He needs to be very careful not to play a push-up. I

think that may well have been a push. He called one himself and that

was very kind of Kyren. He made the referee 's decision very easy by

calling the foul upon himself, well done to Kyren Wilson. The reason was

definitely a push-shot was because the white didn't even try to come

having had a great chance for a maximum a few moments ago, the key

thing was to win the frame and after one more red and colour he has done

the chance to get out of this session 5-3, and he will feel as

though he has won the session, trust me, because he was struggling as

much as we have ever seen him struggle here at the Crucible in the

and he trails now by 5-2. This really should be 5-3 now. Yes,

I was about to say, it is amazing how many times and interval changes

matches, but I just looked at the scoreboard and of course Kyren

Wilson came out after the interval made a break of 70 to do five in

front. The highest break for being at that particular time was 33 and

he has since made a break of 50 in each of the two frames and he has

every chance of making a sizeable contribution here, although the

black is out of play but the pink is available in all four high-scoring

pockets, the two middles and the four corners. That is what he will

be working on, just pink and blue and a great chance, as Peter just

said, to make it 5-3. 15. Ideally off the next two or

three reds you would like to play the green, just to get the green out

of the way. He is itching to play the green now,

isn't he, but working or not? He is playing it. It just makes it easier

and those reds there, having the green out of the way. Isn't it

strange, the peculiarities of the psychology of snooker? Kyren Wilson

will be very, very disappointed. If he only leads 5-3 at the end of this

session, and yet if you had given him 5-3 at the start, you would've

been delighted. Before a ball was patted, he would have taken it in a

heartbeat, wouldn't he. He you are quite right, this is a mind game

here and when you have 21 days ear of the utmost pressure you have to

go through little spells like this. Stuart Bingham now, as Stephen

Hendry and John Parrott were saying in the studio, if you have a bad

session, making a 5-3 session. He has had his bad session here and he

is going to come out 5-3. He will have to take his medicine

and play a good safety shot. So... He will be absolutely delighted if

don't think so. Just tried to make sure he was getting on roads and he

misjudged it. But whether the black relatives and the reds where they

are he is still a massive favourite to win this frame. But he is going

to have to go through the ringer for a little while now rather than it be

plain sailing. Another very good shot with the rest

from Kyren Wilson, very, very strong in that apartment. 11 out of 11,

100%. Wow. You see the stats. Is is tough because he will have to play

this with pace. Wow, what a shot. Unfortunately he has finished

straight though. He would have loved an angle on this last red. The

second to last red, so he could just roll the red in come out for the

pink. I don't think there is any mileage in taking the red on but he

will play the snooker behind a red or the brown and probably behind the

green and there is every chance he could snooker Stuart on both reds.

You must make sure that you cover the red with the blue and a green

when he is moving Kyren Wilson, seven. That is not a good shot, you

can take the song, Stuart. 35 points in it. He will not be kissing the

red of the commission here what ever bad he hits this. -- he will not be

kissing the red off the cushion here however bad he hits this. He made

sure he was then and he gave himself absolutely no chance of dislodging

the other red from the commission. This is quite a tough safety shot

here, he is playing with a lot of right side. He has played that

really well. It is an excellent safety shot. Slightly short. On

pace. But very good. A good line. He would love to have a go at this,

Stuart, by the added problem is if he plays a ten Tors the red then the

red could scoot along the cushion and bring the other red into play so

I think this is one of the shots, even though it is frame ball, I

would refuse this one. Yes, refused it, for that reason probably. Does

Kyren play to plot the right and move it? He is a very attacking

player and he has just looked at it. The only problem with that shot is

that there is a possibility playing with this with pace that the cue

ball could stay where the readies. That is brilliant. That is

absolutely brilliant. He has been very, very unlucky. A wonderful pot,

taking the opportunity to move the red off the black cushion OK, he has

got a straight forward safety shot but he will be disappointed not to

be on a colour there. He has to play the brown full ball the brown on and

off the cushion and snooker him between the green and blue. The any

problem is he will need the last red. He better hope he misses the

snooker. He does have the opportunity to just bring the black

off the cushion and leave the snooker behind the pink. He is

looking at that now. I think that would be a very good shot the course

Stuart not only has to hit the red, he then has to leave it safe. He

just needs to avoid the double-kiss on the black here. Kyren Wilson,

one. Unfortunately for him he didn't avoid the double-kiss, but I still

think he is just got the snooker well, there is just a bit sneaking

out there. It wasn't a very good shot. Stuart can just click this

red. If he does clip it he will have to

play it pay silly because the red will be heading towards the middle

pocket and the fact that Kyren has brought the black of the cushion,

whatever happens he doesn't want to leave the red on in such a way that

is is possible to get a position on the black. He may even play the pot

here and bring it back into baulk. That is what he is doing, he has

played at across to the pocket but he better cover it up. Has he

covered it? It appears so. There is a possibility here, if

Kyren hits the cushion first he may be able to hit the back side of the

red and send the cue ball towards the green and brown. Hopefully for

him behind the brown. Yes, key to get the object ball

safe, it isn't here though. That's not bad. Obviously from that

shot he wasn't quite snookered, we didn't realise that he could

actually see the red. Under the circumstances it was a very good

shot, played with a lot of left side. He played to get the cue ball

behind the brown off of either three or four questions with depending on

whether the cue ball made contact with the baulk cushion. A tough

safety shot for Stuart here but he could play this was left inside and

send the right behind the black and the cue ball behind the brown. That

is what he has tried. It is a great effort, it is a great effort. Kyren

is in one of those situations where I don't know if he can hit this hard

enough to be able to stun the red and play the snooker behind the

black. If he can't do that he may have to be forced to playing the pot

which is on his side. The reason I say that is he is bound to get some

sort of shot on the black. Can he popped it? The White will be someone

in the blue spot if he plays tap pace but this is going to be tough

to get safe if he doesn't hit in full in the face. He could be

playing the snooker behind the black here. I don't think he's hit that

quite hard enough. He has left an easy snooker and the

red may pass up black into the Green pocket but almost certainly. Would

you play the pot or the snooker? I would play the snooker. It looks

like he is playing the pot. And it is there. For a delighted Stuart

Bingham that should be frame ball. Perhaps that is one of the reasons

that Stuart beat me 10-5 in first round. To negative! That is very

well done barring snooker Stuart Bingham has done the miracle and he

has got out of the session trailing 5-3. Are fighting performance on

Stuart Bingham and he finds himself only two frames behind going into

the second section at 10am this morning. They will also finish that
