We are back at 10.00pm tonight. Time for the news now where you are. | :00:00. | :00:18.
Good evening. The number of billionaires living in Britain has | :00:19. | :00:23.
risen to more than 100, according to the Sunday Times Super`Rich List, | :00:24. | :00:26.
with nearly two`thirds of them in London. The paper says there are now | :00:27. | :00:30.
more billionaires here ` per head of population ` than any other city in | :00:31. | :00:33.
the world. Here's Sarah Harris. London, according to the latest rich | :00:34. | :00:36.
list, is home to more billionaires than any other city in the world. | :00:37. | :00:38.
Businessmen Goprichand and Srichand Hinduja are now Britain's richest | :00:39. | :00:43.
men, together worth ?11.9 billion. Russian tycoon, Alisher Usmanov, who | :00:44. | :00:45.
owns one`third of Arsenal Football Club, has been knocked off the top | :00:46. | :00:49.
spot but still has more than ?10 billion. Roman Abramovich, whose | :00:50. | :00:56.
Chelsea team missed out on the league title this year, has slipped | :00:57. | :00:59.
to ninth and now has a mere ?8.5 billion fortune. The man whose | :01:00. | :01:03.
life's work has been studying the super rich says London has become | :01:04. | :01:07.
the place to live for those at the top of the premier league of wealth. | :01:08. | :01:13.
They love the culture here. The fact that there is rule of law, property | :01:14. | :01:17.
rights are protected. They won't be chucked in prison or have their | :01:18. | :01:22.
fortune seized. Two out of the top five on the list live here on this | :01:23. | :01:25.
street in Kensington, known as Billionaires Row, where the average | :01:26. | :01:28.
price of a house is around ?40 million. 72 London residents are | :01:29. | :01:33.
said to have a fortune worth more than ?1 billion, compared to 48 in | :01:34. | :01:40.
Moscow and 43 in New York. Those behind a new London Data Website say | :01:41. | :01:43.
the injection of superwealth doesn't affect house prices everywhere in | :01:44. | :01:51.
the capital. In Westminster, an increase of ?150,000 over the last | :01:52. | :01:54.
year but in somewhere like Barking and Dagenham, the increase has been | :01:55. | :02:00.
?6,000. So much less. But for the dozens of billionaires in London, | :02:01. | :02:02.
record price tags like the ?140 million paid for a flat here, are | :02:03. | :02:07.
easily affordable. The full rich list is published next week. | :02:08. | :02:17.
A 44`year`old man has been charged with the murder of a woman who was | :02:18. | :02:21.
found dead at her home in north London on Friday morning. Tamara | :02:22. | :02:24.
Holboll, believed to be aged in her 60s, was found with stab wounds at | :02:25. | :02:27.
her flat in Kentish Town, which had been set on fire. Peter Holboll is | :02:28. | :02:33.
due before magistrates tomorrow. An investigation is under way after | :02:34. | :02:36.
two new tube trains collided when the tracks moved. It happened on the | :02:37. | :02:39.
District Line between East Putney and Southfields earlier this month, | :02:40. | :02:41.
causing minor damage to the carriages. The RMT Union says it | :02:42. | :02:45.
highlights the impact of cuts to track inspections. London | :02:46. | :02:50.
Underground says they're working to ensure it doesn't happen again. As | :02:51. | :02:54.
well as council elections this month, four London boroughs will | :02:55. | :02:59.
also elect a local mayor. One of them is Tower Hamlets, which has | :03:00. | :03:02.
been facing serious questions about their current mayor's spending. | :03:03. | :03:05.
Lutfur Rahman denies any wrongdoing, but this particular contest is being | :03:06. | :03:07.
closely watched. Here's our Political Editor, Tim Donovan. | :03:08. | :03:12.
Lutfar Rahman was elected the independent Mayor of Tower Hamlet | :03:13. | :03:14.
after the national Labour Party rejected him as its candidate. His | :03:15. | :03:19.
victory owed much to strong support from Tower Hamlets' Bangladeshies, | :03:20. | :03:21.
who slightly outnumber white British people in the borough. Four years | :03:22. | :03:27.
on, according to the Lib Dems, this is still about a Labour civil war. | :03:28. | :03:33.
Tower Hamlets splinter group of the Labour Party call the Labour MPs in | :03:34. | :03:36.
the House of Commons, their colleagues and brothers and sisters. | :03:37. | :03:40.
So, clearly, that's what is happening. Maybe there are | :03:41. | :03:42.
characteristics within the local Labour Party that somehow put | :03:43. | :03:47.
people's backs up. The Labour candidate is John Biggs, currently a | :03:48. | :03:50.
London Assembly Member, who was joined by the party leader this | :03:51. | :03:53.
week. He insists there are clear differences between him and Mr | :03:54. | :03:58.
Rahman. Luftar Rahman will tell you he lives by Labour values but the | :03:59. | :04:02.
evidence is that he is too much of a separatist, not part of the | :04:03. | :04:05.
mainstream any more and we offer a very real choice ` which is about a | :04:06. | :04:09.
leadership which is broadly based in the borough and which respects all | :04:10. | :04:12.
communities and which is going to take our borough forwards at a time | :04:13. | :04:18.
of enormous change and pressure. The Conservatives say the two | :04:19. | :04:21.
frontrunners don't provide a clear choice. Tower Hamlets needs a mayor | :04:22. | :04:26.
open to all of the community, open to engaging and has that commitment | :04:27. | :04:31.
and energy. But according to the current mayor, the differences | :04:32. | :04:34.
between him and his old party are about policy and portraying him as | :04:35. | :04:37.
being governed by and governing for Bangladeshies is racist. Free home | :04:38. | :04:43.
care, we are the only group of people, under my administration, and | :04:44. | :04:46.
myself, that we have continued to deliver free home care. We don't | :04:47. | :04:51.
charge for the care we give to vulnerable elderly residents in the | :04:52. | :04:56.
community. I'm the only group that will continue free home care. It is | :04:57. | :05:01.
certainly an outcome hard to predict. And the address on your | :05:02. | :05:09.
screen is where you can see a full list of candidates standing for | :05:10. | :05:14.
election in Tower Hamlets. Let's get a check on the weather now with | :05:15. | :05:16.
Kate. An unsettled weekend. The good news | :05:17. | :05:28.
is the wind is starting to ease. It doesn't disappear completely. A | :05:29. | :05:32.
similar day tomorrow, temperatures similar, still feeling fresh but | :05:33. | :05:36.
heavy showers in the afternoon, slower`moving because the wind is | :05:37. | :05:39.
lighter. Through Tuesday, a similar day but by Wednesday, high pressure | :05:40. | :05:43.
starts to build. We should see more in the way of sunshine and the | :05:44. | :05:46.
temperature gradually starting to climb. That's all for now. I will be | :05:47. | :05:53.
back at 10.15pm. Until then, good evening. | :05:54. | :06:05.
Good evening. We have still got some very heavy showers out there. For | :06:06. | :06:12.
ors we are finishing the day on a more positive note. Clearer skies to | :06:13. | :06:15.
the south indicating sunshine but the cloud still streaming in further | :06:16. | :06:22.
north. Tomorrow's forecast brings a similar mixture, sunshine and | :06:23. | :06:24.
showers although the winds will start to be lighter. That process | :06:25. | :06:27.
begins through the night tonight. A shattering of showers still | :06:28. | :06:31.
possible. Clearer skies across northern Scotland probably our | :06:32. | :06:34.
lowest temperatures here. For many temperatures will begin Monday | :06:35. | :06:38.
morning at around 8 or 9 degrees already with a few showers around. I | :06:39. | :06:43.
think be drier spells in between, as with the nature of showers, they are | :06:44. | :06:47.
not everywhere all of the time. Cloudy with brighter spells mixed in | :06:48. | :06:52.
across parts of northern England and southern Scotland already with the | :06:53. | :06:56.
potential of one or two to be heavy. On northern Scotland on balance | :06:57. | :06:58.
through the day on Monday while there could be a few showers, a | :06:59. | :07:00.
slight | :07:01. | :07:01. |
