Good evening. A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of

attempted murder after a 28-year-old man was stabbed in North Belfast

this morning. A local councillor says the incident has caused concern

in the local community. Kevin Sharkey reports.

Glenbryn Park this morning, and no sign of what happened earlier. Hours

after an incident which left one man in hospital and another in police

custody. The exact details are not clear but it happened early in the

morning. The victim was stabbed in the chest and taken to hospital. The

police say his life is not in danger. A city councillor who lives

on the streets as the community is concerned. It is an area we want to

regenerate. There is some new housing. Every time I is pulled,

you're risking death. You are also risking very long prison sentences.

It is both carrot and stick, the police have to be firm, but also,

the dangers and education of people of what life culture will lead to.

Detectives are still try to find out more about what led to the stabbing.

They want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

A call for the Prime Minister to meet the Ballymurphy families has

been backed by the Shadow Secretary of State. Eleven people were killed

in Ballymurphy by soldiers from the Parachute Regiment in August 1971.

Ivan Lewis told Sunday Politics he's due to meet the relatives himself in

Belfast this week. There are questions to answer, I

will certainly be meeting with them, engaging with them, and clarifying

what our position is on the nature of any enquiry. But of course, if

they have requested a meeting with the Prime Minister, of course he

shuts down and meet them. -- he should.

Gardai in Dublin have launched a murder investigation after the death

of a man in his 60s. It's understood a group of people had gathered to

watch the Ireland-Wales rugby match at a flat in Terenure, when the

emergency services were called shortly before 6pm last night. The

man had suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital. A

man in his 30s is being questioned and a forensic examination of the

flat is being carried out. Detectives are appealing for

information after an aggravated burglary in Antrim. It happened

yesterday morning in the Kilgreel Road area. Two masked men forced

their way into the house and assaulted a man with what's believed

to be a metal bar. His injuries aren't thought to be life

threatening. A second man in the house wasn't injured.

MPs in Westminster are to vote tomorrow on legislation to ban

smoking in cars with children. The proposal has already been passed by

the House of Lords. Any ban would only apply in England initially, but

Northern Ireland Chest, Heart Stroke is calling on the Assembly to

take action as well. There could be 18 months before we get on the

starting block for legislation. So I would make a plea, if this does go

through in Parliament, that our road Northern Ireland Assembly members

put the shoulder to the wheel and make sure that every effort is made

to have similar protection in Northern Ireland for Northern

Ireland children. There was disappointment at the

Winter Olympics on the slopes in Sochi this morning, for local

snowboarder Aimee Fuller. The 21-year-old from Bangor was

competing for a place in the Slopestyle finals. But despite high

hopes, she failed to land her double backflip for the second time and

missed out. I am smiling, unfortunately I didn't land. Like I

said in the first run, I thought I might as well put all my cards on

the table and go for it. If I had gone down we would have been on the

money. But it is a great experience, the first time I have competed in

the Olympics. A building block for the next one.

GAA now and in today's national league matches, there were wins for

Derry over Kerry, Tyrone over Mayo, Donegal defeated Galway, Monaghan

beat Meath, Cavan beat Offaly and Wicklow defeated Antrim.

In ice hockey, the Belfast Giants have moved 22 points clear at the

top of the Elite League. The Giants defeated the Fife Flyers at the

Odyssey Arena last night. The 6-4 victory over the visitors was their

second win of the weekend after Friday night's 3-0 win at home to

the Hull Stingrays. If we would have thought we would

have this could lead, 12 games into the season, I think to be in this

position is exceptional. It just shows our consistency this year. It

shows the level of commitment from our players. The play hard every

night and do whatever it ticks to win.

Fans of Irish traditional music flocked to Londonderry this weekend

as the first legacy event from the All-Ireland Fleadh got underway

yesterday. More than 400,000 people attended the Fleadh when it was

staged in Derry during the summer. This weekend, a number of sessions

and special workshops were hosted in various venues across the city to

build on its success. It is all about bringing people who have gone

to the level in their careers, aspiring musicians, I think it is

really important that we let people know there is a process to get

there. It is a journey between getting there and where you are now.

It is going to be a chilly night, because of those clear skies. The

Met Office has issued a weather warning for ice forming on untreated

surfaces. If you're out and about tonight, or tomorrow morning, there

that are mine. A widespread frost. Most towns and cities should manage

to stay above freezing. In the countryside, it will be colder than

that with temperatures falling below zero. Some wet weather over the high

ground, especially in the West. Monday will not be a bad start.

wet weather pushing East. Some of it will be wintry over the high

ground. Most should clear by lunchtime. Then it will be a pretty

and maybe into parts of the South West. Showers for the East of

England. In between, body of dry and sunny weather. Tomorrow afternoon,

you will not need an umbrella, it is going to be dry with plenty of

sunshine. Tomorrow evening, we had of a band of rain pushing him.

Tuesday will be falling as sleet or snow man with temperatures of just
