Good evening. A triple murderer has been awarded more than ?800 after

some of his personal items were lost as he was transferred to Woodhill

prison in Milton Keynes. Kevan Thakrar was convicted of gunning

down three people in Hertfordshire in 2007. His compensation pay out

includes damage to an alarm clock and a pair of nose hair clippers.

The Prison Officers Association say the award is an insult. Neil

Bradford reports. He is serving three life sentences,

with a history of violence in prison. Keven Thakrar had served

time in some of the country's toughest jails, after stabbing three

officers in prison in County Durham he was transferred to Milton Keynes.

It was during this transfer a number of his possessions were damaged or

lost. He is awarded compensation totalling ?815. One of his victims

says it's an insult. It's quite shocking really, yeah, it's quite

hurtful. I haven't received an apology, I haven't received any

compensation. I have had to move back in to my parents' house, so my

` so we can financial support, the fact my life is in tatters and he is

there with a smile on his face getting this publicity and ?800 of

taxpayers' money. Thakrar refused an initial offer and

took the case to the small claims court. After winning his case, the

price service were ordered to pay him 815. .97.

And ?500 for the loss of personal possessions including photographs,

toiletries and a carton of juice. Thakrar was jailed for the murder of

three people in in 2007. Keven Thakrar is still protesting his

innocence. He claims he is the victim of a miscarriage of justice.

For the prison officers who suffered at his hands, the only injustice is

Ranger's been arrested tonight on suspicion of assault and criminal

damage. The 23 yoorld handed himself in to police earlier. An assault

allegation has been dropped. The striker from Gordon Gardens in

Swindon has been remanded in custody. He will appear at

Magistrates tomorrow. Tonight, MPs are taking part in a

critical vote about HS2 ` a critical stage in the journey from ambitious

idea to concrete and steel reality. Hundreds of campaigners demonstrated

outside Parliament earlier. If approved, HS2 would carve through

Buckinghamshire and North Oxfordshire. The Government's facing

a backbench rebellion when they vote in the next half an hour. The

legislation is expected to pass because it has Labour's support.

Protestors say they'll keep fighting. I have said to the

hundreds gathered outside who are against this project there is a long

way to go. We have a hybrid bill and report stage and third reading in

this House. We then have a process in the House of Lords. Then, of

course, the Chancellor has to find that money.

Thames Valley Police say a four`year`old girl knocked down by a

car in Oxford on Saturday remains in a serious but stable condition in

hospital. It's thought the child was cycling

along the pavement in Cowley at the time. She was struck by a red car

pulling out from a car park and was airlifted to the John Radcliffe

Hospital. A man's wanted by police after the

attempted abduction of a woman in Milton Keynes. An e`fit image has

been released. It's claimed the man drove his car alongside the woman as

she was walking in New Bradwell. He repeatedly asked her to get into his

car, then tried to pull her inside. She screamed and, as people came out

of nearby pub, the man drove off. Work's started on turning part of

Bicester into the UK's first eco`town. Developers have begun

digging up land on the outskirts of the town. The idea is to create an

energy efficient community with thousands of homes. But there are

worries about how Bicester will deal with a big increase in housing.

Adina Campbell reports. It's been five years in the making

and finally we are at this point where we are seeing the digger over

there doing some work. Tell us what's going to happen over the next

two to three months? The digger is starting the preparation work for

the infrastructure that will bring roads in, allow workmen on site. You

will see to the right is where the show homes will be. That will be the

first homes coming out of the ground and the public being able to see

what they'll look like. This is part of turning north`west Bicester into

the country's first eco`town costing millions of pounds. In about 20

years', this site will include 6,000 new homes, a primary school, and an

eco`pub. The first phase is expected to be finished by 2019 with hundreds

of zero`carbon homes. Some of the features include triple glazing and

solar panels. Before any of that access roads need to be put down as

well as offices for staff. Behind us is the compound for the workers.

This is the welfare area. The office for the technical staff, canteen

facilities. Some campaigners claim that Bicester isn't ready for this

level of housing growth and are concerned about the knock`on effects

of extra traffic. This may be acres of green space at the moment but by

2019 the hope is this area will be completely transformed into a

top`class environmentally friendly community.

Oxfordshire highways engineers are considering proposals to raise the

level of Playhatch Road near Reading to avoid future flooding. The

stretch leading to Sonning Bridge has been closed for several weeks

this year. It remains at reduced capacity with temporary traffic

lights in place while carriageway repairs are carried out. You can
