where we live. We moved to the countryside and now it will be only

half a mile up from us. It'll be good at all the politicians voted

against it. But we have not had much help from our one. There we go. You

know, these people want to protect their jobs, don't they? This debate

will go on well into the evening. What are we expecting? It certainly

will. One MP suggested they sit carry on until midnight. It is true

to say that many MPs want to have their say on this crucial debate.

Including one leading rebel from this area. I afraid I will always be

a sceptic about this project, but if it is going to go ahead and that is

what democracy and Parliamentary democracy is about, then I want the

best yield for our environment. The debate is going on as we speak. We

expect MPs to vote around 11pm. The vote is expected to be in favour.

After all, this bill does have cross`party support, despite the

rebels, and it will probably go through. The scrutiny process will

be expected to last for several months.

Wiltshire Police say they're talking to Swindon Town footballer Nile

Ranger after being shown CCTV pictures which appear to include

footage of a woman being assaulted outside his home. The footage was

given to police by a Sunday newspaper. The player has been

summoned to a disciplinary hearing later this week. Scott Ellis

reports. The 6'2" striker signed up with Swindon Town last year.

The former Premiership player moved into a penthouse flat in this

apartment block in the centre of Swindon. A security camera video

handed to the police shows a man trying to break down a communal door

in the early hours of Sunday, April 13 at the apartment block. He can be

seen taking the door. The footage also shows the man hitting a woman

twice with his right hand, before a third blow. Police have confirmed

tonight that Nile Ranger has handed himself in to the police station in

Swindon and is currently being questioned in connection with the

alleged assault. And ?2000 worth of criminal damage to a lift door, a

wall and a glass panel at the apartment block. Police officers are

also appealing for the women to get into contact. There has not been any

statement today from Swindon Town football club, but they said they

deplore any acts of violence and are appalled that this latest incident.

Senior officials at the club have met today to discuss the incident

and is due to be discussions tonight and tomorrow about Nile Ranger's

future at the club. A man is wanted for questioning by

police over the attempted abduction of a woman in Milton Keynes. An

e`fit image has been released. It's claimed the man drove his car

alongside her as the woman walked along the pavement in New Bradwell.

He repeatedly asked her to get into his car before grabbing her by the

waist and attempting to pull her inside. She screamed and, as people

came out from a nearby pub, the man drove off. His car is described is

dark blue, and may have been a Ford Mondeo.

The Green Party has launched its European and local election

campaigns and manifesto today. The party's leader, Natalie Bennett,

said the Greens were serious contenders, with their largest ever

number of candidates standing to be local councillors. The party is also

confident it can increase its current tally of two MEPs. The

Greens are fielding a candidate for every available UK seat.

A vote for the Greens in this election is a thought for an economy

that works for everyone, not just the richest. It is a vote for jobs

to build a life on and a cap on bankers' bonuses. Rather than a race

to the bottom on wages and tax breaks for the wealthiest.

Meanwhile, the UKIP leader Nigel Farage will outline his party's

ambitions for the South East region at a political rally tonight. TV

crews have come from across the continent to hear him speaking on

his home turf. It's likely to be one of the largest political rallies to

be held at Portsmouth's Guildhall for years. Up to 800 people are

expected to attend, with the UKIP leader suggesting it's because

attitudes toward Europe are changing.

It is looking like it is a lot more of a protest `` a lot more than the

protest vote. If you ask people why they vote for UKIP, yes, it is

true, they are contemptuous of free political parties that are a lot to

this country without asking opinions. But it is not just that.

They agree with what we stand for. And over the coming days, we expect

to hear from more of the main political parties as they launch

their European and local election campaigns.

It's a type of fraud that's become known as "crash for cash" ` the act

of deliberately causing road accidents in order to claim

compensation from insurance companies. Three years ago, an

attempted scam in Buckinghamshire led to an innocent woman being

killed. Thames Valley Police this month became the first force to lead

a successful prosecution over that case. Tonight, the investigation is

being featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme. As Stuart

Tinworth reports, although justice has been done, the victim's family

are still struggling to come to terms with what happened.

She was a lovely daughter and she was full of life. But she is gone

now. Avtar Lalli paying tribute to his

daughter, an innocent driver caught up in a crash for cash scam on the

A40, just outside London. It was June 2011 when the Polish gang used

two cars to engineer a collision. Baljinder Gill, driving behind them,

crashed as a consequence. As she got out to inspect the damage to her

car, she was struck by another motorist ` not part of the gang `

who was driving this van. The moment was witnessed by passengers on a

passing coach. Their horror all too clear.

For me, there is no life without her. When a person is gone, they

never come back. It is only memories with us. I miss her a lot. Seven

people have now been brought to justice in connection with

Baljinder's death. Three gang members were sentenced earlier this

year. One of the men appearing at Reading Crown Court this month was

handed nine years in prison. As the police service, it is really

important to make sure that we leave no stone unturned in trying to

investigate such serious matters as these. We will investigate it, we

will find you and we will bring you to justice. It is thought crash for

cash incidents cost nearly ?400 million a year, with one in seven

insurance claims linked to such scams. This is the first time

somebody has died as a result, but officers warn it may not be the

last. And you can see much more on this

story in the full Crimewatch programme on BBC One tonight at nine

o'clock. Work started on converting part of Bicester the UK's first

eco`town. Developers have begun digging up land on the outskirts of

the town. Part of the site will initially be turned into a temporary

work base for staff including Portakabins and a canteen. Once the

project is complete ` due to be by 2019 ` councillors say it will be an

energy`efficient community with thousands of new homes. But some

campaigners claim Bicester isn't ready for such a big increase in

housing. It is based on eco`credentials, so

very much in line with the ambitions for Bicester. It should create a

committee that people will want to work and live in. We are looking for

economic development such as jobs, so people will commute in and they

season ` the Surrey Storm blows out. The BBC wildlife presenter Chris

Packham, who lives in the New Forest, has been talking about his

questioning by police in Malta while he was making a documentary about

the killing of migratory birds on the island. It followed complaints

by a group of hunters that the Springwatch presenter and his crew

had trespassed and breached their privacy when they began to film

them. James Ingham reports. Confronting the hunters head on. In

Malta, it is legal to shoot limited numbers of certain birds in the

spring. But it is a practice Chris Pack wants to stop. `` Chris Packham

wants to stop. He says it is wiping out populations of migrating birds.

Listen. You can hear a robin, a Wren. It is springtime, these foods

are alive `` these woodlands are alive. I did not hear a cuckoo last

year for the first time in my life. They are being shot in Malta as we

speak. Chris was questioned by Maltese police after complaints from

the shooting lobby. He was released without charge and has continued his

campaign. He commented on a particular low point of his trip.

The worst point of all was when I had to help a vet euthanise a

Montagu's Harrier. They are national treasures when they are here. I help

this bird and looked into its size. It was beautiful. Valuable. I had to

hold it whilst this that put it down. It was heartbreaking. I shed a

tear. Maltese authorities do not deny that illegal shooting is

happening but they insist it is being controlled better than ever

before. The situation has improved dramatically over the last few

years. We have the highest ratio of deployment of enforcement personnel

per square kilometre of countryside in Europe. Chris Packham remains

unconvinced. He is working with MEPs to put pressure on the island to end

what he calls its massacre on migration.

The trial of a Weymouth councillor accused of several sexual offences

against a child has begun. Ryan Hope, who's 22, was a Liberal

Democrat councillor in the Dorset town. He's currently an independent.

He denies all the charges. Ed Sherry was in Bournemouth Crown Court.

The trial began here Bournemouth Crown Court earlier this morning.

Ryan Hope arrived wearing sunglasses to face nine charges, including

those of rape and sexual assault against a child aged under 30. The

alleged incident took race between 2004 and 2011, when the victim was

aged between nine and 16. The alleged victim said how he would

come to his room at night before taking him to another part of the

house where he was made to watch pornography and the assaults took

place. He said to him, get off me, leave me alone. The court heard of

another incident where the victim was driven to a promoter area

between Weymouth and another town. The prosecution told the court that

the alleged that did not complain about the incident at the time

because she was scared his mother would not believe him. He also said

he thought people would think you were stupid and he was concerned

about Ryan Hope's position as a councillor. Ryan Hope denies all the

charges against him. The case is expected to last until next week.

Police in Sussex are making a fresh appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch

programme for information about the suspected murder of a woman in West

Sussex. The body of Valerie Graves was found at a property in Bosham in

December. She had been house sitting over the Christmas period. One

person arrested on suspicion of her murder was released last month.

No`one has been charged. A little earlier, I spoke to Detective

Superintendent Nick May of Sussex Police and began by asking him what

the thrust of the appeal would be tonight.

What we are appealing for tonight is that we have found a hammer that was

responsible for was involved in the murder of Valerie Graves. What we're

looking for his assistance from numbers of the public who may have

lost or had stolen a hammer immediately before the 29th of

December. It is very distinctive, it is black and red and can be brought

widely `` board widely via Screwfix. Where is the investigation at the

moment? I still have a large team of detectives working on the

investigation. We are working closely with the family. We have

taken a huge number of statements, spoken to a large number of

witnesses and people living in the area. We are making good progress.

What I am looking for tonight is some specific help around the hammer

and some specific help around people who have suspicions about someone

they know. Something more on that last part, be want help on the

hammer. You have explained that. What else are you looking for this

evening? We believe that the person who was responsible for the murder

of Valerie Graves is likely to have a history of violence and we are

looking for help from members of the public who may know that person or

may know a person that they suspect, either in a personal capacity for in

a professional capacity. We are looking for them to come forward to

us tonight in order for us to help Valerie's family. Thank you for

offers for two of their players. there is pressure to keep players

like that. Fingers crossed that they can keep them.

Southampton's Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw have both been named in the

Premier League team of the year. The pair become the first Saints players

to be named in the team, which is chosen by fellow professionals,

since Wayne Bridge 12 years ago. Meanwhile, both helped saints to a

2`0 win over Everton on Saturday. Two own goals proved the difference.

It means the club has now equalled its highest`ever Premier League

points tally of 52. Those fans are happy.

Reading moved up to fifth place in the Championship after coming from

behind to win at Doncaster. A penalty from Adam Le Fondre and

lead and that was the decisive goal. Ryan Williams pulled one back for

United but there was to equalise. There was brewing for that air one

Despite the numerical disadvantage, it became 2`0 with 11 minutes to

play. The defence then went AWOL. The Millers got a share of the

spoils. hoping Wigan drop points when they

play away at Birmingham tomorrow. Just one point now separating all

three teams as we head into the final week of the league season.

In cricket, Hampshire batsman James Vince continues to stake his claim

for an England call`up, with another century. With day two largely

affected by the rain, Vince still managed to move on to 118 not out.

Hampshire ended on 289 for three as they aim to maintain their unbeaten

start to the season. The rain is affecting the early stages of the

cricket season. In Division One, at Hove, Somerset posted a first

innings score of 372 against Sussex. Marcus Trescothick with a century

and Chris Jordan taking five wickets. Surrey were 25 for one at

the close. Surrey Storm lost Netball's

Superleague title in heartbreaking fashion, losing out to Manchester

Thunder in the last few seconds. Storm were favourites to claim the

silverware after an impressive unbeaten season and were ahead with

under a minute to go. But, after drawing level, Helen Housby then won

it for Thunder, the ball dropping in as the clock struck zero, leaving

Storm no time to respond. 49`48 the final score. A great disappointment

there stop but they have had a great season.

A broken finger proved no problem for Hayling Island's Eilidh McIntyre

as she and Weymouth's Sophie Weguelin won a silver medal at the

Sailing World Cup. McIntyre was competing only a week after having a

pin removed following a training accident. The pair won silver in the

470 class on the final day of the event in France.

Dorset's Olympic show`jumper, William Fox`Pitt, won the first

major of the year in Kentucky, his third title there in five years.

Riding Bay My Hero, the Sturminster Newton based eventer HAD to jump the

final phase clear to win. And he did just that ` Fox`Pitt, nicknamed Mr

Cool, left the fences untouched to take the title. We mentioned Late

This week, we look at heavy rain at times thunder and lightning. There

is some sunshine but colder by Friday with a northerly wind setting

in for the bank holiday weekend. We're looking at some more rain

tonight initially, then patchy mist and fog will develop in the early

hours of the morning. That will reduce visibility on the road. A few

storms lifting in from the south`east but once mist and fog

forms, the showers will fade away. Temperatures dropped to around

between 7`10d. A muddy start to tomorrow. That mist and fog will

lift. We will see a few showers triggered by the sunshine and we

will see the cloud break in places. There is the risk of thunderstorms.

They are rolling in for supper most areas. The dry conditions are

further north, with highs of 15, potentially up to 17 Celsius. Today,

we saw a high of 17 degrees. Tomorrow night will be much like

tonight, the showers will fade away. Some mist and fog again. More dense

than tonight, with temperatures between seven and nine Celsius. The

winds are like, which is why that mist and fog is forming with the

moisture in the air. We start Wednesday on a dry note. We are

respecting further showers. They could be heavy and thundery.

Wednesday night, we see another weather feature pushing in. They

will join together. A messy day on Thursday. Low pressure is in charge.

By Friday, high pressure starts to build in. At the moment, the weekend

is looking fairly settled. Stay tuned because things can change. We

are looking at some rain tomorrow, heavy and thundery in places was the

bounds of showers most together to longer spells of showers. Further

sunshine and showers on Wednesday. A similar scenario on Thursday. By
