More details have been reve`led about specialist centres behng

set up to stop the exploitation of people at risk of abuse

The bases will be staffed around the clock

and are being set up after ` major police operation which saw seven men

convicted of sexually explohting girls in Oxford last year.

Thames Valley Police officers will work alongside social workers and

health professionals in Ayldsbury, Oxford and Milton Keynes.

It was a case that shocked the country.

Seven men convicted of grooling and abusing girls in the he`rt

of Oxford, but it seems the problem may be more widdspread.

Today the chief constable of Thames Valley Police, Sara Thornton,

said more than 600 children had been referred to it since 2012

as being possible risk of sexual exploitation.

I'm afraid there will always be people who want to harm children.

It is our responsibility to protect them.

In Oxfordshire a centre called the Kingfisher Unit was set up to

allow police and social workers to pool information.

Now they are setting up similar centres.

They are rolling it out to cover all people at risk of any kind of abuse.

Inside, police officers will sit alongside social workers,

people from health care agencies, to try to make sure that nobodx at risk

A focus of intense police activity, Wokingham Road was sealed

off from the early hours of this morning after a police patrol car

collided with a person and ` police officer while on an emergency call.

The car had been sent to reports of an attempted burglary

at a cycle shop near to where the collision happened.

The officer was hurt and taken to hospital.

His injuries are not thought to be life`threatening.

Police have not yet said whether the man who died was
