Good evening. Coastal areas of Wales are preparing

for the possibility of further flooding after high tides and strong

winds over the next 24 hours. Officials have warned that coastal

flooding could be as severe as at the start of the year. Tonight,

there are 49 flood warnings in place as well as 19 flood alerts.

Charlotte Dubenski reports. It is only a few weeks since much of

Wales was hit by severe storms but yet again towns and villages across

the country are being hit by more poor weather. In Aberystwyth, these

students probably expected to be having a lot more fun on a Friday.

waves onshore and low-pressure system that goes through at the same

time, if those three things happen at the same time, sea levels will

rise, and the effects will be more dramatic. This is just the calm

before the storm. High tides and strong winds are due to batter

coastlines across Wales over the weekend once again. Across Wales

preparations have been made for this weekend. In Gwynedd, 500 giant

sandbags have blocked a gap in the sea defences and in Fishguard eight

110 bags have been placed in the lower town to protect properties.

The deputy head of a Cardiff comprehensive school has pleaded

guilty to three charges of voyeurism. 47-year-old Gareth

Williams has been remanded in custody. He'll be sentenced next

month. Nick Palit reports. 47-year-old Gareth Williams arrived

at Cardiff Magistrates Court today to face three charges of voyeurism.

He's been in custody since his arrest last week. He is the debris

head of Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf in Cardiff. These offences did not take

place at the school where he worked but he was suspended from that

teaching post after being arrested. During the brief hearing, Gareth

Williams spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. He pleaded

guilty to three charges of recording of a private act without their

consent for the purpose of sexual gratification. The court heard how

South Wales Police recovered a camera concealed in a toilet and

memory sticks with recordings of five children. He was remanded in

custody and will appear in Cardiff Crown Court to be sentenced on the

21st of February. A week after the announcement that

Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire is to lose specialist baby care

services, the health board has now confirmed 24 hour paediatric cover

will also be withdrawn. It'll be replaced with a 12 hour walk-in

service during the day. Chemicals which imitate cannabis and

Gwent, which says there's a growing problem with so-called 'legal

highs'. Now a unique scheme in Wales is analysing samples of the

substances, sent to anonymously, and publishing the

politicians. But Public Health Wales says the scheme helps to treat

users. Council leaders are calling for

urgent talks with the First Minister, Carwyn Jones, in order to

put forward alternative proposals for council re-organisation. All 22

councils met for the first time today to discuss proposals to halve

the number of authorities. We ourselves would like to put a

compelling case to the first Minister for change in local

government and we'd like that to be considered. It will flow from an

analysis that local government itself will undertake looking at

costs and looking at boundaries but also looking at the best fit for our

communities across Wales. One of the last dairies to process

milk in Wales has closed, with the loss of 26 jobs. The Dairy Crest

site at Whitland shut its doors two years after it was taken over by the

company Proper Welsh. From now on, Dairy Crest will process its Welsh

milk at its site near Stroud in Gloucestershire. It says the site

was too small to justify the investment needed, but it's still

committed to producing Welsh milk. We definitely won't be walking away

from Wales. We would like to have more Welsh Mick in our business --

Welsh milk. We see a positive future for Welsh dairy farmers supplying to

our business. Tomorrow, Wales welcome Italy in the

Six Nations Championship opener. Wales have won the competition for

the last two years and they're aiming to become the first team in

history to win it three times in a row. Whether it's the autumn or the

six Nations, we tend to start slow and get stronger as the tournament

goes on. It is something we have spoken about.

off in the early hours of Sunday morning. Then finally we get a brief

break as we going to Sunday and there will be some bright this

around. They were showers competed this Saturday. A bit easy but

nothing as windy as what we are going to see tomorrow. Monday, the

return of the very wet and windy conditions. That is a yellow warning

in place for the rain yet again on Monday. A risk of further flooding.

The best day of the weekend on Sunday and things going downhill for
