An 88-year-old woman who died after being found with unexplained

injuries in a Cynon Valley hospital has been described

Tegwen Roderick's death is being investigated by police.

Four members of staff at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon in Mountain Ash

Tegwen Roderick had lived in Abercanaid all her life. A

well-known member of the community, she lived on the street with her

husband John and was well liked by her neighbours. Today the family

were in mourning. A week ago she was found with serious and unexplained

injuries at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon. She was transferred to Prince Charles

Jos Buttler but she yesterday died. Now an investigation has been

launched into her death. Jasper -- Prince Charles Hospital. A beautiful

lady. Very gentle, lovely lady. Unfortunately she did not have any

children but they were a devoted couple. And that was a view shared

by many who lived in this village. I spent the day speaking to people who

knew Tegwen Roderick. They said she had lived her whole life here and

was a teacher right up to her retirement. She had been suffering

from ill health recently but they were still shocked to hear the news

that her death has resulted in a police investigation. Police have

said at this stage there is no confirmed link between the injuries

and the death but four people are helping them with their enquiries.

As a precaution, ten members of staff were initially suspended but

six have now been lifted. In a statement, Cwm Taf Health Board said

it takes the care and safety of its patients extremely safety. As soon

as staff identified that there was a problem with the patient concerned,

they acted quickly and appropriately. The investigation is

ongoing and I have reassured me that they feel no other patient is at

risk but we need to find out what happened. We need to do justice to

this investigation. When charity is concerned about the knock-on effect

this will have on the perception of elderly care in our hospitals.

People make it about the quality of care overall or the services they

may receive. The vast majority of what we hear are very good

experiences at hospitals, good experiences of the way people are

treated by staff. But with failings do occur, it is vital that they are

investigated. The police and health boards say they are continuing to

together to work out what caused the death of this well-respected

pensioner. A mine manager has denied convincing

himself that he had checked the correct area for underground

water before an in-rush killed four Giving evidence for a fourth day,

Malcolm Fyfield once again insisted Asked if he should have carried out

another inspection behind the coalface on the morning of the

disaster, Mr Fyfield replied that He and the mine operators

deny manslaughter charges. A ?280 million race track planned

for Blaenau Gwent could get a Welsh government loan to help attract more

funding. The Heads of the Valleys Development

Company wants to build the Circuit of Wales track near Ebbw Vale to

host major motor racing events. It was granted planning

permission last July. Four men from Newport who ran a car

off the road and then shot at the passengers inside have been found

guilty of conspiracy to murder. Lewis Bridge, Brogan Hooper,

Gary Rabjohns and Ryan Battersby carried out the attempted revenge

killings last September. What was left of the red Ford car

after the three people inside were round of the road and shot twice

with a shotgun. Today, Lewis Bridge, Brogan Hooper, Gary Rabjohns

and Glasgow -- Ryan Battersby were found guilty of two counts of

conspiracy to murder. The court heard these were attempted revenge

killings to get back to men who in the days came here and allegedly

robbed Brogan Hooper at gunpoint of drugs and money. His friends wanted

retribution and a series of mobile phone messages were sent, one

saying, get your scraps ready. The court was told scraps meant guns.

Then on the evening of September three, they all followed the

victim's red car out of the estate and into Newport. The victim's Ford

was heading into a violent ambush. Shortly afterwards, the two vehicles

made their way up this road, the Jeep ramming the victim's R. Two

shots were fired from a shotgun and the victim's car crashed into the

side wall of this car park. Two of the victims had gunshot wounds, one

to the head, the other was treated for a minor spinal injury. Reacting

to the verdict, the Crown Prosecution Service said these four

defendants took part in a reckless criminal act and it is a pure chance

that their lawlessness did not lead to a more serious outcome for the

victims all other members of the public. The men said nothing as they

left the dock and all four will be sentenced at the end of this month.

Pen y Cymoedd near the Rhondda will become the biggest onshore

Today, multi-million pound contracts were

awarded to two companies, one based in Neath and the other in Wrexham.

They'll be supplying steel and cabling.

We have got about 100 people working in Neath so it is sustaining those

jobs. About 5000 tonnes of steel. There are two different types of

turbine. One is 65 tonnes, the other about 80 tonnes. ?2 million worth of

work for us. Parts of North Wales will benefit

from ?36 million The money is being spent in Wrexham,

Flintshire, Anglesey and Conwy to improve town centres,

create housing and modernise homes. Councils

and community groups won the grants from a Welsh government scheme

which will see many long-derelict Rugby, and Wales have left for

their summer tour to South Africa. The 32-man squad, which includes
