Protestors from across Britain have set up camp near the Ffos y Fran

The climate change activists have been welcomed by local people

who are fighting plans to extend the site.

The company which operates the mine, Miller Argent, says it

provides well paid jobs and supports the steel industry.

activists called reclaim the power, have arrived to call for a ban on

opencast mining across Wales. Their presence is welcomed by local

welcomed the establishment of this camp, which they say they hope will

bring public attention to their cause. What you see is basically the

only untouched marshland in the upper valley. There is a raised bog.

minds of politicians and the public ahead of the election on Thursday.

A suspicious fire which damaged a school classroom in Torfaen

and Infants school in Cwmbran just after eight o'clock last night.

The school is due to reopen on Tuesday.

Wales could have 50 vineyards in 20 years time!

That's according to one grower who has doubled his operation this

week and has just started selling Welsh wine to France.

It's been made since Roman times - and now in 17 commercial

20,000 bottles of wine a year from this field alone.

It's not cheap, needing ?3 million of investment in land and equipment.

But the owners predict a boom in Welsh winemaking.

50 vineyards will be operating here in 20 years time.

That is based on the growth of the wine industry

climate is virtually identical to the Welsh climate.

This site gets 3,000 visitors each year for wine now sold

to perhaps the most demanding of customers of all.
