The family of a five-year-old girl from Newport,

who died of an asthma attack two years ago, are calling

Ellie-May Clark was taken to the local surgery by her mother,

but her doctor refused to see her because she was late.

The General Medical Council found that the GP's failure to see

and assess the child did NOT meet with standards required of a doctor.

Mum Shanice brought the five-year-old to their doctor's

surgery in the Malpas area of Newport after she was sent home

from school early because teachers were concerned about her breathing.

Now the health board has carried out a serious concern report

into the actions of Doctor Joanne Rowe at the Grange clinic

and confirmed Ellie-May had a history of severe asthma

The confidential report confirmed that Doctor Rowe refused to see

the child because she was late for the appointment and did not make

If she just said sorry, at least that would be something.

But Doctor Rowe continues to practice, now in Cardiff.

A General Medical Council investigation resulted in a warning

which will stay on her record for five years.
