With temperatures only a few degrees above freezing, there was a

definite feel of autumn first thing this morning. Tomorrow, elements of

autumn but the very different reasons. Temperatures will be

higher, but there will be a strong wind blowing. The key element will

be those winds, they have been picking up through the day across

Scotland. With more cloud, temperatures are not falling very

far. A much milder night for some places. So it will not be as cold,

but we will not have the sparkling sunshine many places had this

morning. A rather drab start across south-west England and Wales, like

drizzly rain across the Home Counties and East Anglia, but it

will brighten up here. Further north, very gusty winds across a

Wales to stop also gusty across Northern Ireland, and very strong

winds blowing across western Scotland bringing in frequent

showers. Through the central belt of Scotland across northern England,

gusts of up 40 or 50 miles an hour. Not great travelling conditions

during Friday morning. Slowly, those winds will ease a touch, but

it is a blustery day. Apart from a few scattered showers in north-west

England and northern Scotland, it is a bright afternoon, with sunny

spells. But of course, it will feel a bit cooler because of those winds.

The winds died down into the weekend, this area of high pressure

starts to influence things. Not anything like as windy on Saturday,

enough for a breeze to bring some cloud. For most, Saturday looks

like a pretty good day. It will feel a bit warmer by the afternoon.
