There is an area of low pressure working its way down the North Sea.

That is dragging cold air across the UK. It will bring a spell of strong

winds and producing heavy rain in the south. It will be a cold, wet

and windy day across England and Wales for late May. The low are

feeding wet weather into the north-east of England and the east

of Scotland. The winds are picking up. Inland areas will have a fine

night. Coastal showers to the west.

As we get into Friday, proper, here is the low digging its way across

the east of England. As you can see it takes most of the day to work to

the south. It keeps the wet and windy weather feeting to -- feeding

into England and Wales. Later in the afternoon, brighter spells, for the

south-west and for the west of Wales, but feeling cold in the areas

with rain. In the rain the temperatures hovering at five to six

Celsius. What a difference for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Here

with a ridge of high pressure. Lighter winds and sunshine and highs

of 16 Celsius. A pleasant day in contrast to today. If you are

heading out on Friday, rain to come in the central and eastern areas of

England. Most of that clearing into the early hours of Saturday.

Breezy in the south, but to the north lighter winds and clear skies,

mean a chance of grass frost to start us off on Saturday. More

frosty night nights this weekend but by day better prospects. Saturday a

chilly start, but a lot of sunshine to come. Rain into the far

north-west and healthy temperatures away from the North Sea coasts. The

east is struggling with the cloud on Sunday. A chilly breeze along the
