This is the outlook: Bright enough for Friday and the weekend but much

colder and some of the showers could have a wintry nature.

Cloud coming in from the Atlantic. When it moves through we will get

cooler conditions with lively showers. But mild overnight with the

south-westerly breeze dragging cloud across England and Wales. As you can

see the heaviest rain and strongest winds overnight are confined to

Scotland and northern Ireland. Wet and windy here but it is an mild

night with the cloud cover and breeze. But, a miserable start to

the day in Scotland. Wet and windy, gusty wind through the central

lowlands in the morning. Up to 0 miles an hour and maybe more than

that over some of the hills. Not pleasant in the morning rush-hour

and not pleasant in Northern Ireland either. In England and Wales, a lot

of cloud around but maybe a few breaks to the east of the Pennines.

Cloudy skies elsewhere and drips and drops of rain out towards the West

but the North Wales Northwest of England, gusts of up to 50 or 6

miles an. Those winds eased down in the South East. Might see something

brighter in the south-east corner. The main band of rain, slow to move

away from Scotland and Northern Ireland but it will push into the

north and west of England and Wales in the afternoon. But following on

behind its heavy showers, hail and thunder. But some much colder air.

Temperatures into single figures but ahead of the band of rain, still

quite mild, 15, 16, 17 degrees in one or two places. But I think the

cold air will win out late in the day on Thursday and into Friday

Expect a cooler field to things by the end of the week. On Friday, it

starts cold and there will be a cooler feeling with sunny spells and

a scattering of showers. Showers turning to snow over modest hills.

We are stuck in single figures. Unsettled into the weekend. Wintry

showers through Saturday and Sunday but as pressure builds from the
