with Nick Miller. Hello, as winter becomes spring, the

atmosphere contains more energy. The shower clouds grow taller. If

conditions are right, you get thunder storms. There have been some

today. Bob took this picture near London this afternoon. The spring

flowers will appreciate the re turn return of warmth. Until then big

showers to come, pushing in across south-west England - some hail and

thunder. Sleet and snow on to the top of the moors.

From Norfolk to coastal England into Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, one or

two showers around. Where you are clear for a time, you will see a

touch of frost here and there. Patchy mist and fog all in the mix

as Friday begins. From the word go, we are dodging downpours in

south-west England, increasingly so into Wales as well. Hail and thunder

with these. The day is starting starting largely dry weather. Still

this area of cloud and outbreaks of rain. Some heavy across England. At

times fringing Scotland. The bulk of Scotland though dry. The best of any

warmth in the west. Where you have cloud, rain, showers and have this

easterly wind, it will feel chilly. Into the afternoon the showers break

out more widely. Parts of the Midlands, for example. Avoiding most

of the showers and helped by sunshine, temperatures head up a few

degrees. It is a subtle change in the weather pattern. The isobars, we

have followed them, pointing out towards the North Sea, but they tilt

around down towards continental Europe - a south-easterly flow. It

will bring warmer weather - the warmer colours spreading across the

UK as the weekend goes on. It will feel quite different. Saturday

though, the further west you are, still threatens some rain.

Especially to Northern Ireland. Throughout the weekend north-east

England, low cloud, mist and drizzle, holding the temperature

down. It is similar into Sunday. Elsewhere, given variable cloud and

sunshine, it will be hazy at times. Warm spots getting to near 20

Celsius. That is a trend for the weekend - warming up. Whatever the

temperature, lots of dry weather to get out and about. Still breezy.
