Tuesday. Now the National forecast. Hello, good evening. A mainly quiet

weekend of whether coming up but on the other side of the Atlantic, a

major weather story is developing. Hurricane Harvey has been

strengthening. This has really developed. The eye of the storm

becoming visible as this storm approach of land for now across the

coast of Texas. It will bring strong winds, a storm surge which could

inundate coastal areas with floodwater. The rain will be the

main feature. 900 millimetres is possible in places which could bring

catastrophic flooding. Back home, thankfully it

is quieter. Some warm sunshine to come with just a few showers,

particularly in the North. Northern Ireland drying out all the while

overnight. Scotland and northern England will keep some showery rain.

Tomorrow will bring plenty of fine weather, some patchy cloud, some

sunny spells. Still a chance for some showers, particularly for

northern and eastern Scotland and North East England. Some showers

could be heavy and possibly thundery. At four o'clock in the

afternoon, that odd hefty shower across north-east Scotland. The

Northern Ireland, much drier day than we have been used to of late.

19 degrees in the sunny spells in Belfast. Then through parts of

north-west England into Wales and the south-west, we will see some

sunny spells. 22 degrees in Exeter. Parts of the south-east could get to

25 or 26 degrees on Saturday afternoon. Looking ahead to Sunday,

a dry day for the vast majority. We will have lost the showers in

north-eastern areas. Some areas of sunshine and cloud. A split in our

fortunes as we get into Monday. A bank holiday for most areas.

High-pressure holds on to the south-east but this frontal system

pushing in from the West will bring outbreaks of rain for western

Scotland and Northern Ireland. Heavy rain with blustery winds. Feeling

cool here that further south and east there will be a good deal of

sunshine. In south-east England it could get to 27 or 28 degrees. A
