process, more so we realise it by

process, more so we realise it by
Sunday, but it comes with lots of | 0:00:01 | 0:00:03
cloud. What's happening across the
rest | 0:00:03 | 0:00:04 | |
cloud. What's happening across the
rest of the UK? Here's Phil Avery. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:10
Meteorologists start their winter on
the 1st of December, a shame nobody | 0:00:10 | 0:00:13
told the weather because it is ahead
of the game. As you will have | 0:00:13 | 0:00:17
experienced across many eastern
parts over the past few days, snow | 0:00:17 | 0:00:20
to very low levels, as you see here.
The other face of winter out West | 0:00:20 | 0:00:27
are just a frosty start of the day,
but gloriously sunny days. We have | 0:00:27 | 0:00:32
the west and east demarcation. We've
had it over the past few hours. That | 0:00:32 | 0:00:36
was the rain and snow radar. This is
what we expect to come into the | 0:00:36 | 0:00:40
small hours of Friday. Still quite a
peppering of showers across many | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
eastern parts. Further west, the
skies stay clear and as a | 0:00:43 | 0:00:47
consequence away from the towns and
cities there will be pockets of | 0:00:47 | 0:00:50
frost to start the new day. But it's
towards the east that will have the | 0:00:50 | 0:00:55
greatest concerns in the first part
of Friday. Where you have had the | 0:00:55 | 0:01:00
showers overnight and the
temperatures have dipped away, ice | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
on untreated surfaces could be a
real issue. It won't take very long | 0:01:03 | 0:01:07
into the day before that becomes
less of an issue in that neck of the | 0:01:07 | 0:01:11
woods and we see the first signs of
a change across the north-western | 0:01:11 | 0:01:14
quarter of Scotland. Away from that
neck of the woods, widely across | 0:01:14 | 0:01:18
Scotland, the eastern side of
Northern Ireland, Central and | 0:01:18 | 0:01:21
western parts of England and Wales,
it will be that bright, crisp, | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
frosty sort of start of the day.
Further east, you will still have a | 0:01:24 | 0:01:28
supply of showers. The thing you
will notice is I'm showing you may | 0:01:28 | 0:01:32
be a degree or two higher on the
temperatures than was the case this | 0:01:32 | 0:01:36
morning and that will be important,
because it converts many more of | 0:01:36 | 0:01:38
those showers into something wintry,
as in the case of the last couple of | 0:01:38 | 0:01:44
days, to something more watery.
There will be not as many in the | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
afternoon. Always the best of the
sunshine further towards the West. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
Further north, the crowd filling in
all the while temperatures beginning | 0:01:51 | 0:01:54
to prop up by a degree or two, but
there will be arraigned -- there | 0:01:54 | 0:01:58
will be rain in the mix. We continue
the process of bringing relatively | 0:01:58 | 0:02:04
mild air in from the Atlantic,
rather than the screaming northerly | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
that some of you have enjoyed over
the past couple of days, and that | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
gives the possibility of the cold
air to be nudged aside into the | 0:02:10 | 0:02:14
continent and here comes that flow
of milder air during the course of | 0:02:14 | 0:02:20
the weekend. So no crisp start for
Saturday. We suspect a lot of cloud | 0:02:20 | 0:02:24
around, bits and pieces of rain, but
those temperatures beginning to | 0:02:24 | 0:02:28
ratchet up by | 0:02:28 | 0:02:28 |
