10 degrees but if you want the
national outlook Louise Lear is here | 0:00:01 | 0:00:03
in just a second. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:05
Good evening, it's been an
interesting week of it wintry | 0:00:08 | 0:00:12
weather. We started off with
pictures like this, some heavy snow, | 0:00:12 | 0:00:16
some freezing weather conditions,
but I suspect, as we move into the | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
week ahead it will be somewhat
different, we will see cloudy skies, | 0:00:19 | 0:00:25
milder conditions but pretty great,
but not that much in the way of | 0:00:25 | 0:00:29
rain. For the here and now it looks
like we have one more day of cold | 0:00:29 | 0:00:32
weather before the mild air pushes
in from the south-west but | 0:00:32 | 0:00:38
unfortunately most air bringing rain
for all of us at some point during | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
Sunday. Ahead of that Saturday
morning will start rather cold and | 0:00:41 | 0:00:45
frosty for some of us, particularly
in the central and eastern part of | 0:00:45 | 0:00:49
the country. Some showery outbreaks
of rain in Northern Ireland and | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
temperatures will hold up above
freezing but though showers are a | 0:00:52 | 0:00:56
nuisance starting Saturday morning.
Showers frequent in the run down the | 0:00:56 | 0:01:00
Irish Sea into Wales but in Central
and eastern areas the frost will | 0:01:00 | 0:01:05
lift as the sunshine comes through.
Into the middle of the afternoon we | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
keep the risk of showers moving in
through the south and west, across | 0:01:07 | 0:01:12
Cornwall and into Wales, making it
feel pretty miserable, despite highs | 0:01:12 | 0:01:17
of 6-8d. Through the Midlands,
eastern England will see sunshine | 0:01:17 | 0:01:21
despite the frosty start, the sun
will come through and temperatures | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
will struggle, two or three degrees
at the best. Showers across | 0:01:24 | 0:01:28
north-west England, one or two into
Northern Ireland but easing into the | 0:01:28 | 0:01:31
afternoon. Not a bad day for
Scotland, clear skies, sunshine but | 0:01:31 | 0:01:35
cold and one or 2 degrees. As we
move out of Saturday into Sunday | 0:01:35 | 0:01:40
here is the change, the weather
front pushing in from the Atlantic, | 0:01:40 | 0:01:44
the isobars squeezing together and a
south easterly flow bringing in this | 0:01:44 | 0:01:48
mild air. Some of the rain heavy for
a time across west facing coasts, | 0:01:48 | 0:01:52
somewhat erratic pushing across
eastern England, but rainfall of us | 0:01:52 | 0:01:56
at some point on Sunday, double
digits out to the west, ten or 11 | 0:01:56 | 0:02:02
degrees. That front will clear away
and we will see a ridge of high | 0:02:02 | 0:02:05
pressure building as we start the
new working week, which basically | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
means it will be relatively quiet.
Perhaps a little bit cooler on | 0:02:08 | 0:02:13
Monday but not much. A lot of cloud
around but the cloudy mild theme is | 0:02:13 | 0:02:17
really set to continue as we move
into Monday and Tuesday. So, if you | 0:02:17 | 0:02:21
have not enjoyed the cold wintry
weather you will be pleased with the | 0:02:21 | 0:02:26
theme into next week, mainly dry,
mild | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28 |
