After another night of violent unrest in Ferguson, Missouri. Police | :01:06. | :01:08.
have told reporters they came under violent attack from protestors. Ron | :01:09. | :01:13.
Johnson, the police officer in charge of operations, said some of | :01:14. | :01:15.
those arrested overnight were from as far away as New York and | :01:16. | :01:22.
California. At a press conference in the past couple of hours, he said | :01:23. | :01:25.
criminals have infiltrated the crowds of protesters and are intent | :01:26. | :01:37.
The violence can be bottles thrown and shots fired. Protesters are | :01:38. | :02:02.
peaceful and respectful. Protesters don't clash with police. It is | :02:03. | :02:14.

and the National Guard sent in to help keep order. | :02:44. | :02:47.
They were deployed on Monday, following nights of rioting | :02:48. | :02:49.
and looting, the process spurred by the fatal shooting of a black, | :02:50. | :02:55.
unarmed teenager, Michael Brown, by a white policeman ten days ago. | :02:56. | :03:00.

To a community in Ferguson that is rightly hurting | :03:06. | :03:07.
and looking for answers, let me call once again for us to | :03:08. | :03:10.
seek some understanding, rather than simply holler at each other. | :03:11. | :03:18.
Let us seek to heal, rather than to wound each other. | :03:19. | :03:23.
As Americans, we have to use this moment to seek | :03:24. | :03:26.
out our shared humanity that has been laid bare by this moment. | :03:27. | :03:30.
The US Attorney General Eric Holder will travel to Ferguson later this | :03:31. | :03:33.

In response, the Pew Research Center has conducted a poll to gauge how | :03:59. | :04:08.
It shows a country divided along racial and political lines. | :04:09. | :05:29.
An Australian businessman and federal Member of Parliament | :05:30. | :05:30.
has launched an extraordinary attack on the Chinese government live | :05:31. | :05:33.
Clive Palmer called them mongrels who shoot their own people. | :05:34. | :05:36.
Mr Palmer's outburst happened during a panel discussion when he was asked | :05:37. | :05:39.
about his legal battle against a Chinese state-owned company. | :05:40. | :06:04.
Our correspondent, Phil Mercer, is in Sydney. | :06:05. | :06:09.
A big faux pas there on live television but what prompted him to | :06:10. | :06:22.
make those disparaging comments? As far as Australia's political | :06:23. | :06:27.
discourse goes, this has to be a new low. In the past, Australian | :06:28. | :06:32.
politicians have said ruthless things about each other and Clive | :06:33. | :06:42.
Palmer's remarks... The Chinese embassy in Canberra has issued a | :06:43. | :06:46.
statement saying his comments were both offensive and irresponsible and | :06:47. | :06:52.
the statement went on to say that Mr Palmer's remarks were loaded with | :06:53. | :06:58.
ignorance and prejudice. That is the story taken up by Australian | :06:59. | :07:02.
government ministers as well who are aghast at his behaviour live on | :07:03. | :07:07.
television last night. The Federal Treasurer said his comments could | :07:08. | :07:12.
inflict huge damage on the Australian economy, given that | :07:13. | :07:15.
Australia's biggest trading partner is China. China is a big trading | :07:16. | :07:21.
partner with Australia. They could take this badly. They could and that | :07:22. | :07:29.
is the fear of industry leaders here in Australia. They worry that | :07:30. | :07:34.
Australia's long-term commercial ties with China might take a | :07:35. | :07:40.
battering because of the Clive Palmer affect. He is a mining | :07:41. | :07:46.
magnate and federal MP and his comments have caused a large amount | :07:47. | :07:50.
of dismay in the business and political communities. Some of his | :07:51. | :07:55.
supporters to say he is a breath of fresh air but one thing is for | :07:56. | :08:00.
certain, since he was elected to Federal Parliament in September, | :08:01. | :08:05.
Clive Palmer has become a walking human headline. I would imagine he | :08:06. | :08:10.
has more things to say when it comes to his relationship with China in | :08:11. | :08:11.
the future. Kenya Airways is suspending | :08:12. | :08:22.
commercial flights to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to try to | :08:23. | :08:24.
halt the spread of Ebola. No passengers from those affected | :08:25. | :08:26.
countries will be allowed into Kenya Flights to Ghana and Nigeria | :08:27. | :08:29.
have not been affected, despite The BBC's Dennis Okari, in Nairobi, | :08:30. | :08:32.
says Kenya Airway's decision will The threat of Ebola is from west | :08:33. | :08:49.
African travellers and the government says it is not turning a | :08:50. | :08:55.
blind eye to this reality. There has been pressure since the World Health | :08:56. | :09:01.
Organisation said Kenyon was classified as a high risk country | :09:02. | :09:06.
for the spread of this virus. This decision does not affect passengers | :09:07. | :09:13.
who had flights because Kenyan airlines says some of them will get | :09:14. | :09:20.
refunds. No passengers from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone will be | :09:21. | :09:23.
allowed to come into the country. This does not affect just | :09:24. | :09:28.
passengers. Ethiopian airlines have also been affected because they use | :09:29. | :09:34.
Nairobi as a transit point to other destinations. In terms of business, | :09:35. | :09:40.
when you look at numbers, 60% of West Africans who use Nairobi as a | :09:41. | :09:45.
transit point to other destinations, in terms of business, | :09:46. | :09:52.
a big blow. Are there any plans to compensate the airline industry? | :09:53. | :10:02.
After all, it is they who will be affected. They are planning to | :10:03. | :10:18.
capitalise on huge numbers using the Kenyan airlines flight but | :10:19. | :10:27.
politicians, practitioners and the general public are putting pressure | :10:28. | :10:32.
to stop the flights. There is a court case going on by a lobby | :10:33. | :10:39.
group, saying they want Kenyan airlines to suspend flights to West | :10:40. | :10:44.
African countries in total. This gives you the scale of what this | :10:45. | :11:02.
means to the industry. China has 380 million strong fear the organisers. | :11:03. | :11:36.
-- theatre goers. This is the hero of the famous National here to hit | :11:37. | :11:43.
show warhorse and he has been brought to life by three Chinese | :11:44. | :11:49.
puppeteers. The show doesn't go into Chinese theatres for a whole year. | :11:50. | :11:57.
But the puppetry is the big challenge here. China has shadow | :11:58. | :12:02.
puppetry but it has never had this kind of huge complex puppet to work | :12:03. | :12:09.
with. He has got to be brought to life in mind and body and getting | :12:10. | :12:14.
inside the head of a horse as well as its body is hugely challenging. | :12:15. | :12:18.
These puppeteers had been recruited and have spent two weeks in a | :12:19. | :12:23.
stables, feeding and grooming and washing horses. We have got a team | :12:24. | :12:39.
from the National Theatre in London here. They are here to work with the | :12:40. | :12:48.
Chinese puppeteers. They have been doing this job for seven years now. | :12:49. | :12:59.
But it will take a whole year of hard work for all of these | :13:00. | :13:02.
puppeteers to get fully into the role and get the stage show ready | :13:03. | :13:12.
for China and those enormous audiences. Everywhere in the world, | :13:13. | :13:17.
it is the year of the horse, but in this rehearsal room, it is the year | :13:18. | :13:19.
of the warhorse. It's rare to see ANYONE cycling in | :13:20. | :13:27.

A new study suggests the number of Africa's elephants has declined | :16:07. | :16:09.
It says around 35,000 elephants are killed for their ivory each year, | :16:10. | :16:13.
and that if the rate of poaching doesn't slow down, the species could | :16:14. | :16:16.
The demand for ivory products in Asia is blamed | :16:17. | :16:19.
With me is our science correspondent Rebecca Morelle. | :16:20. | :16:29.
The critical point as we are hearing. What is causing this? | :16:30. | :16:42.
Scientists have known for several years that there is a growing | :16:43. | :16:59.
hearing. What is causing this? problem in Africa, and the issue is | :17:00. | :17:25.
putting. It has been soaring in recent years. Elephant ivory is now | :17:26. | :17:32.
worth thousands of dollars for every single kilo and that is being | :17:33. | :17:38.
fuelled by this demand in newer economies within Asia. This study | :17:39. | :17:41.
has put some numbers on the problem for the first time and the | :17:42. | :17:44.
scientists have found that since 2010, elephants in Africa, there | :17:45. | :17:47.
have been about 35,000 of them killed every single year so that | :17:48. | :17:51.
means manually 7% of Africa's entire elephant population is being wiped | :17:52. | :17:54.
out. These are enormous numbers and it also means that basically for the | :17:55. | :17:58.
first time the situation has reached a tipping point where more animals | :17:59. | :18:02.
are being killed than being born so the population is in overall net | :18:03. | :18:06.
decline. It doesn't feel like a new problem because we have known | :18:07. | :18:08.
poaching has been around for years, people wanting to get ivory. What is | :18:09. | :18:11.
being done to conserve that species? The issue with poaching is that it | :18:12. | :18:14.
is a multilayered problem. There is a lot of talk about how to stop it | :18:15. | :18:19.
but you have got to address it on several layers. There is protecting | :18:20. | :18:22.
the elephants on the ground, that requires money, people, Rangers. | :18:23. | :18:24.
There are tougher penalties for the people doing the poaching. This is | :18:25. | :18:27.
done by big organised crime syndicates, so tougher penalties, | :18:28. | :18:29.
and tougher laws. Then there is addressing the demand for the | :18:30. | :18:31.
problem. How can you stop people from wanting ivory products? You can | :18:32. | :18:34.
say it is harming the animals but that doesn't seem to be making any | :18:35. | :18:41.
difference at the moment. Thank you. Fighting is taking place in eastern | :18:42. | :18:48.
Ukraine between government forces and separatist rebels. The rebels | :18:49. | :18:52.
have held the town since April, but reports are also coming in of a | :18:53. | :18:57.
leading Ukrainian commander who has been wounded during fighting in a | :18:58. | :19:10.
town in the Donetsk region. One of the two main towns in the area, | :19:11. | :19:17.
Lugansk, which has a population of about quarter of a million, fighting | :19:18. | :19:25.
is going on there. Fighters seem to be advancing to the centre of the | :19:26. | :19:33.
city. It is regular army but also some volunteer battalions, a new | :19:34. | :19:46.
formation which relies heavily on volunteers. There are mutual | :19:47. | :19:56.
allegations from Ukraine, and Russia denies that, that there is more | :19:57. | :20:01.
infiltration of fighters. Ukrainian The son of Hollywood actor Jackie | :20:02. | :20:47.
Chan has been arrested for alleged drug-related charges. The younger Mr | :20:48. | :20:51.

tested positive for marijuana. In Myanmar a new search has begun | :20:54. | :21:04.
for what's thought to be The Dhammazedi Bell is estimated | :21:05. | :21:06.
to weigh nearly 300 tonnes. In 1608, | :21:07. | :21:10.
it's said to have fallen into Despite numerous attempts to find | :21:11. | :21:12.
it, the bell has so far eluded The crowds have gathered to watch | :21:13. | :21:24.
this latest attempt to find the biggest bell the world has ever | :21:25. | :21:29.
seen. Cast in the 15th century and weighing nearly 300 tonnes, the | :21:30. | :21:39.
Dhammazedi Bell once stood here alongside this Buddhist pagoda. Six | :21:40. | :21:42.
times larger than this one, legend has it that the bell was seized in | :21:43. | :21:51.
1608 and put on a raft which promptly sank, sending it hurtling | :21:52. | :21:56.
into the river floor. The fate of the Dhammazedi Bell is one of the | :21:57. | :22:04.
great Hermes mysteries. There have been countless efforts in the past | :22:05. | :22:09.
to find it. So far no one has even managed to prove that it is down | :22:10. | :22:15.
there. Many believe the surge is cursed. At the launch of the latest | :22:16. | :22:21.
attempt, the team leader said supernatural forces were stopping | :22:22. | :22:25.
the bell from being discovered. If we just rely on modern technology, | :22:26. | :22:30.
we will face more problems. We must take this bell from the Dragons that | :22:31. | :22:36.
have got it. We need to use our traditional ways so that the dragon | :22:37. | :22:41.
spirit does not keep hold of the bell. We watched as work got under | :22:42. | :22:48.
way. A team of divers equipped only with masks lowered themselves into | :22:49. | :22:53.
the fast moving water. There was no sign of metal detectors or sonar | :22:54. | :22:58.
being used, just one month issuing orders from the top of the vote. Let | :22:59. | :23:04.
me give you a sense of how difficult it is for these divers searching | :23:05. | :23:11.
with the naked eye in this river. You can hardly see anything. For | :23:12. | :23:22.
many Hermes, like this historian, this latest surge is an | :23:23. | :23:27.
embarrassment and a waste of the public's goodwill and money. Having | :23:28. | :23:33.
watched numerous teams, both high and low tech fail, he is starting to | :23:34. | :23:38.
think the unthinkable. Maybe there is no Dhammazedi Bell. I really hope | :23:39. | :23:47.
the bell is real, it would make me so proud of my country, but if we | :23:48. | :23:51.
look at the three main Burnley 's history books, none of them mentions | :23:52. | :23:57.
it. This team say they will keep diving for another two weeks. They | :23:58. | :24:03.
have no doubt that somewhere in the Holy Grail. | :24:04. | :24:11.
All this week we're looking at the growing popularity | :24:12. | :24:13.
Now it's time to stop off in Beijing and Cairo to see what it's like to | :24:14. | :24:20.
My bike makes me feel free, it is an extension to my arms and legs. I | :24:21. | :24:50.
cycle across Cairo every day to work. Actually it takes me with the | :24:51. | :24:57.
car about three hours or two and a half hours, but with my bicycle it | :24:58. | :25:04.
is only one hour. TRANSLATION: I started to ride fixed gear bikes | :25:05. | :25:14.
since 2010. In my childhood every household was proud to have a bike. | :25:15. | :25:28.
As a woman, cycling in Cairo, I have faced so much criticism. Sometimes | :25:29. | :25:33.
people make bad comments to me. Look at this woman, why is she cycling? | :25:34. | :25:46.
Things like that. She is crazy. China has gone through some | :25:47. | :25:50.
ground-breaking changes, there are more cars on the road and the air | :25:51. | :25:55.
pollution is bad. These streets are not planned for cycling. There are | :25:56. | :26:04.
no lanes specialised for cycling so it is so dangerous. More people see | :26:05. | :26:14.
the glamour of cycling now. Bikes are more attractive to young people | :26:15. | :26:18.
because we take better care of our health and the environment. However, | :26:19. | :26:25.
there is a lack of safety awareness. People tend to think it is a cool | :26:26. | :26:29.
thing and take it to the streets without practice. It would be so | :26:30. | :26:38.
good to use bikes in Cairo streets. It would be the solution to so many | :26:39. | :26:45.
problems. So I wish to wake up one day to see people all over Cairo | :26:46. | :26:51.
using bikes for their transportation and no cars. Don't forget, you can | :26:52. | :26:57.
keep in touch with me via Twitter. | :26:58. | :27:00. |
