there is a change on the way. I will | 0:01:41 | 0:01:45

Good morning. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:49
First, our main story. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:50
Detectives in Dorset say
they believe they've found the body | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
of missing teenager, Gaia Pope. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:54
The discovery was made by search
teams close to a coastal | 0:01:54 | 0:01:57
path near Swanage. | 0:01:57 | 0:01:58
The 19-year-old was last seen alive

Ian Palmer reports. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:11
Daughter, sister, friend. A search
for Gaia Pope is over. Sheet is, I'm | 0:02:11 | 0:02:16
not going to say was and I never
will, she is the absolute life of my | 0:02:16 | 0:02:23
life -- light of my life. So
beautiful, so emotionally wise and | 0:02:23 | 0:02:28
intelligent and... So passionate and
artistic and creative and | 0:02:28 | 0:02:35
understanding. Her body was found
yesterday afternoon. She had been | 0:02:35 | 0:02:42
missing since November the seventh.
She was discovered in their fields | 0:02:42 | 0:02:46
where some of her clothes were found
a few days ago. Before her body was | 0:02:46 | 0:02:51
located, hundreds of volunteers took
part in a massive search in the town | 0:02:51 | 0:02:59
Swanage. We want to thank each and
every one of you for everything you | 0:02:59 | 0:03:03
have done. If there is one ray of
light in this nightmare, it is the | 0:03:03 | 0:03:07
compassion, humanity and community
spirit you have shown over the last | 0:03:07 | 0:03:11
ten days. Your dedication and
selflessness for a girl that many of | 0:03:11 | 0:03:15
you don't even know has been
staggering and one of the few things | 0:03:15 | 0:03:19
that kept us going. Earlier, three
people arrested on suspicion of | 0:03:19 | 0:03:24
murder were released under
investigation. Police say at the | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
moment, the group won -- Gaia Pope's
death is being treated as an | 0:03:27 | 0:03:37

Zimbabwe's president,
Robert Mugabe is expected to meet | 0:03:42 | 0:03:45
military commanders this morning,
a day after tens of thousands | 0:03:45 | 0:03:47
of protestors called
for his resignation. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:49
Mr Mugabe has so far
resisted calls to step down. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:52
His party, Zanu-PF is expected
to begin the formal process | 0:03:52 | 0:03:54
of stripping him of his role. | 0:03:54 | 0:03:56
Shingai Nyoka reports from Zimbabwe. | 0:03:56 | 0:03:59
It was the most significant event
since the country's independence in | 0:03:59 | 0:04:04
1980. This in public defence force
has told the nation that they would | 0:04:04 | 0:04:08
be free to March Saturday and so
they did. Previously, we were never | 0:04:08 | 0:04:12
allowed to walk on the street but
today it is a different day | 0:04:12 | 0:04:17
altogether. The dawn of a new Irra.
The military often feared here, | 0:04:17 | 0:04:22
received a rapturous welcome as they
monitored the protest against | 0:04:22 | 0:04:26
President Robert Mugabe's 37 years
in power. After being silenced so | 0:04:26 | 0:04:32
long, Zimbabweans can finally raised
their voice. They have poured out | 0:04:32 | 0:04:38
onto the streets. They are calling
for President Mugabe to go. He | 0:04:38 | 0:04:43
hasn't spoken for days but his
nephew says he is prepared to die | 0:04:43 | 0:04:47
and will not be pushed out of power
through a coup. The party's | 0:04:47 | 0:04:52
supporters are ready desert in him
and are expected to meet Sunday to | 0:04:52 | 0:04:56
strip him of his party position and
later in the week to remove him as | 0:04:56 | 0:05:00
head of state if he continues to
refuse to resign. Critics say this | 0:05:00 | 0:05:04
is essentially a military coup,
dressed up as a people 's revolution | 0:05:04 | 0:05:08
but the opposition leader disagrees.
In the interests of the people of | 0:05:08 | 0:05:14
Zimbabwe. Mr Robert Mugabe must
resign, step down immediately in | 0:05:14 | 0:05:20
line with the National sentiment and
expectation, taking full regard of | 0:05:20 | 0:05:25
his legacy and contribution to
Zimbabwe. No one knows where the | 0:05:25 | 0:05:36
President Mugabe has been watching
the television broadcasts of the | 0:05:36 | 0:05:41
protests that he also said it is
that people wanted him gone, he | 0:05:41 | 0:05:45
would go. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:46
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has
pledged to use Wednesday's budget | 0:05:46 | 0:05:49
to help build 300-thousand
new homes a year. | 0:05:49 | 0:05:51
Philip Hammond has told
the Sunday Times he'll invest | 0:05:51 | 0:05:53
billions and fix planning
regulations to get builders | 0:05:53 | 0:05:55
building. | 0:05:55 | 0:05:56
He'll also announce funding to get
driverless cars on the road | 0:05:56 | 0:05:59
within four years. | 0:05:59 | 0:05:59
Our political
correspondent Emma Vardy | 0:05:59 | 0:06:01
is in our London newsroom. | 0:06:01 | 0:06:02
What else can we expect
from Mr Hammond's budget? | 0:06:02 | 0:06:14
It's really clear that housing is
going to be right up there with the | 0:06:14 | 0:06:18
Chancellor really reaching out to
the younger generation who | 0:06:18 | 0:06:21
absolutely feel that they don't have
the same opportunity to get onto the | 0:06:21 | 0:06:25
housing ladder as their parents did.
Today in the Sunday Times, Hammond | 0:06:25 | 0:06:30
said he is staging an intervention
on housing where there is planning | 0:06:30 | 0:06:35
permission but no building is going
on. He has got a really strong | 0:06:35 | 0:06:40
message for constructing firms
saying if you are hoarding land, if | 0:06:40 | 0:06:44
you are speculating, places that
have planning permission, you need | 0:06:44 | 0:06:47
to get on and build on it. Away from
housing, as you say, yes, a package | 0:06:47 | 0:06:54
of measures for artificial
intelligence and driverless cars. | 0:06:54 | 0:06:56
Something other countries in the
world are really forging ahead on. | 0:06:56 | 0:07:00
He will introduce new regulation
that will allow developers to start | 0:07:00 | 0:07:04
testing these driverless vehicles
sank what was once an inventor's | 0:07:04 | 0:07:09
drink will now become a reality but
make no mistake, this will be a | 0:07:09 | 0:07:13
difficult budget and he can't afford
any controversial measures because | 0:07:13 | 0:07:16
of course the government only has a
very fragile hold on power without | 0:07:16 | 0:07:20
slim majority. MR, thank you very
much. -- Emma. | 0:07:20 | 0:07:27
After 34 years at the helm,
the Sinn Fein leader, | 0:07:27 | 0:07:30
Gerry Adams, says he
plans to step down. | 0:07:30 | 0:07:32
During this time, he
persuaded the IRA to call | 0:07:32 | 0:07:34
a ceasefire and pursued a political
settlement in the form | 0:07:34 | 0:07:37
of the Good Friday Agreement. | 0:07:37 | 0:07:39
His decision to resign brings
to an end the longest party | 0:07:39 | 0:07:41
leadership in Britain or Ireland. | 0:07:41 | 0:07:46
We have never been stronger. This is
our time will stop leadership means | 0:07:46 | 0:07:51
knowing when it's time for change.
That time is now. I will not be | 0:07:51 | 0:07:58
standing in the next election. | 0:07:58 | 0:08:01

New advice on how to recognise
and tackle sexual harassment | 0:08:46 | 0:08:48
in the workplace is published today. | 0:08:48 | 0:08:50
The advisory and conciliation
service ACAS has released guidelines | 0:08:50 | 0:08:52
for employers and employees
which outlines the kind of behaviour | 0:08:52 | 0:08:55
which could be considered
inappropriate and how to report it. | 0:08:55 | 0:08:58
Sophie Long Reports. | 0:08:58 | 0:09:07
Allegations of inappropriate

Hollywood greats and high-profile
politicians at Westminster started | 0:09:09 | 0:09:15
conversation about what sexual
harassment is and what needs to be | 0:09:15 | 0:09:18
done to tackle it. Now the
conciliation service says it wants | 0:09:18 | 0:09:22
to help people identify sexual
harassment at work and to give tips | 0:09:22 | 0:09:26
on how to handle it. The advice
includes examples of the forms that | 0:09:26 | 0:09:31
sexual harassment can take such is

Displaying explicit images or

harassment can happen anywhere, at
any time, to anybody. There are | 0:09:42 | 0:09:47
things that people can do to help
manage the risk but nevertheless, it | 0:09:47 | 0:09:52
is a possibility and people need to
be ready to identify if it happens, | 0:09:52 | 0:09:56
they need to know what to do if it
happened and they need to have a | 0:09:56 | 0:10:00
safe place and a to report that and
possibly resolve it or take action | 0:10:00 | 0:10:04
around the matter as well. ACAS says
if someone feels they are | 0:10:04 | 0:10:10
experiencing sexual harassment,
there are a number of people within | 0:10:10 | 0:10:13

Let's take a look at the weather
forecast. It looks like a cold start | 0:11:17 | 0:11:24
down a large part of the country
this morning. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:27
down a large part of the country
this morning. | 0:11:27 | 0:11:29
I would have put some numbers on
this to give you a sense of how | 0:11:32 | 0:11:36
Chile to start is. A different story
out of the south-west. It is as warm | 0:11:36 | 0:11:40
as 10- 11- 12 in some parts because
you never lost the cloud overnight. | 0:11:40 | 0:11:44
Other spots certainly did and that
is leading to that Breitbart frosty | 0:11:44 | 0:11:48
start to the new day on Sunday.
There still is some speck of rings | 0:11:48 | 0:11:53
of showers across the far north-east
of Scotland but wind nowhere near as | 0:11:53 | 0:11:59
strong here on land at least as it
has been for the past few days. | 0:11:59 | 0:12:03
Still fairly blowing across the
North Sea. Here we are, mid | 0:12:03 | 0:12:09
afternoon, quite a bit of clout
coming back into the western side | 0:12:09 | 0:12:13
and I suspect that by this stage,
the sunshine will be really rather | 0:12:13 | 0:12:17
hazy across central and eastern
parts and there is no escaping the | 0:12:17 | 0:12:21
fact that across Northern Ireland,
the western parts of Scotland, they | 0:12:21 | 0:12:24
may be enough clout to that be the
odd piece of rain. Despite the | 0:12:24 | 0:12:28
sunshine, I should point out, in the
east, as was the case yesterday, | 0:12:28 | 0:12:32
live, six common set of degrees will
be the best. --7. We will push the | 0:12:32 | 0:12:41
rain into the cold air and initially
we could see snow down to 200 metres | 0:12:41 | 0:12:45
as more mild air comes in from the
Atlantic, we will lift the snow | 0:12:45 | 0:12:49
level of onto the highest roots so
it stays pretty cold across the | 0:12:49 | 0:12:53
North. It comes the flood of mild
air across the South and as many of | 0:12:53 | 0:12:57
you start the new day on Monday
rate, yes, pretty wet, gas, but it | 0:12:57 | 0:13:01
will be very mild as we get through
the door. Bits and pieces left | 0:13:01 | 0:13:07
behind. I'm afraid it's one of
those. The plus is, Scotland, you | 0:13:07 | 0:13:13
never really get into the mild air.
It's not close enough. I'm afraid it | 0:13:13 | 0:13:19
is go to the one of those days for a
good part of Scotland, really rather | 0:13:19 | 0:13:24
grey. As the country the week, more
mild air from the Atlantic but a | 0:13:24 | 0:13:31
price to say. No more the bright,
frosty sparkling start to the day, | 0:13:31 | 0:13:36
it is pretty wet and windy fare and
I could break it to you gently but | 0:13:36 | 0:13:41
I'm not going to, that's going to be
the way that a good many of us are a | 0:13:41 | 0:13:46
good part of the week. | 0:13:46 | 0:13:48

Now, a group of enthusiasts | 0:14:06 | 0:14:07
are hoping to see her
set sail again. | 0:14:07 | 0:14:09
Our Scotland correspondent,
Lorna Gordon, | 0:14:09 | 0:14:11
has been aboard to take a look. | 0:14:11 | 0:14:14
In the grey drizzle of an autumnal
day, the last paddle steamer to be | 0:14:14 | 0:14:19
built in Britain. She's not sailed
for more than 35 years, moored up | 0:14:19 | 0:14:23
and, for part of that time, left to
rot - until steam-ship enthusiasts | 0:14:23 | 0:14:29
saved her from sinking. It's a thing
of beauty, but it needs a bit of | 0:14:29 | 0:14:33
work. Absolutely, it sure does. It
needs a lot of work, and a lot of | 0:14:33 | 0:14:38
money spent on it. The obvious
things are that the paintwork and | 0:14:38 | 0:14:41
all that kind of thing... Bit of
rotten wood there? Rotten wood. All | 0:14:41 | 0:14:45
of that will be replaced or renewed.
The paddle boxes will be bright and | 0:14:45 | 0:14:52
sparkling again. In her 30 years of
service, royalty and heads of state | 0:14:52 | 0:14:57
were amongst the millions of
passengers who graced her decks. On | 0:14:57 | 0:15:01
a Saturday night, there'd be
entertainment. And on a summer's | 0:15:01 | 0:15:04
day, it would be full of families
who'd come from Glasgow to see Loch | 0:15:04 | 0:15:09
Lomond. In its heyday, The Maid Of
The Loch would have been packed with | 0:15:09 | 0:15:14
passengers enjoying a day out on the
water. Many of those who are helping | 0:15:14 | 0:15:18
to restore it have fond memories of
this ship, and want a new generation | 0:15:18 | 0:15:23
to enjoy it too. Was it exciting, as
a boy? Oh, yes, fantastic. Never | 0:15:23 | 0:15:28
seen anything like it in my life.
There's a wonderful feeling about | 0:15:28 | 0:15:32
watching the power - I mean, this is
power. This is raw power. All these | 0:15:32 | 0:15:37
pistons - the two pistons going
backwards and forwards, turning the | 0:15:37 | 0:15:42
shafts, making the paddles go
through their cycle, making her go | 0:15:42 | 0:15:46
through the water... It's just - I
mean, "magic"'s the only word there | 0:15:46 | 0:15:51
is to it. Hard work by volunteers
has erased some of the damage caused | 0:15:51 | 0:15:55
by the years of neglect. But with
anything of value stolen, any metals | 0:15:55 | 0:16:00
that could be melted down sold as
scrap, they now need help in | 0:16:00 | 0:16:04
tracking down any artefacts that
still exist, like this recently | 0:16:04 | 0:16:08
returned ship's wheel. The ship was
stripped bare before we took it on. | 0:16:08 | 0:16:12
But over the years, we've had one or
two things back. The most important | 0:16:12 | 0:16:16
one is the ship's bell. You want to
hear it? Yeah, go on, then... You | 0:16:16 | 0:16:20
need to give me a hand...! If I lift
it, you can give it a ding... Bell | 0:16:20 | 0:16:25
dings
There's lots of other ones that | 0:16:25 | 0:16:27
people have taken off. No
recriminations, we just need to know | 0:16:27 | 0:16:31
that, if they're safe, would people
please give them back? Securing the | 0:16:31 | 0:16:35
heritage of this historic ship, and
moving one step closer to seeing The | 0:16:35 | 0:16:40
Maid Of The Loch raising steam and
sailing once again. | 0:16:40 | 0:16:47
That'll be a landmark moment, when
she gets a full head of steam once | 0:16:47 | 0:16:51
again. | 0:16:51 | 0:16:52
Time now for the Film Review. | 0:16:52 | 0:16:54
Mark Kermode joins Jane Hill | 0:16:54 | 0:16:55
for a look at the latest
cinema releases. | 0:16:55 | 0:16:58
It is good to see you. | 0:17:12 | 0:17:19
Mark joins us. What have you been
watching? | 0:17:19 | 0:17:23
We have Film Stars Don't Die
in Liverpool. | 0:17:23 | 0:17:27
An awards-level performance by
Annette Bening. | 0:17:27 | 0:17:32
Justice League -
Batman and Wonder Woman are back. | 0:17:32 | 0:17:34
And Mudbound - a drama set
in 1940s Mississippi. | 0:17:34 | 0:17:37
It is an interesting week. | 0:17:39 | 0:17:41
I'm dying to know what you think
of our first film. | 0:17:41 | 0:17:44
Set in the '70s. | 0:17:44 | 0:17:46
Yes. | 0:17:46 | 0:17:46 | |
Based on the memoir by Peter Turner. | 0:17:46 | 0:17:53
Bening is superb as Gloria Grahame. | 0:17:53 | 0:17:57
Jamie Bell's character, | 0:17:57 | 0:17:59
a twentysomething actor becomes
infatuated in the late '70s. | 0:17:59 | 0:18:03
He discovers they are sharing digs
in this house | 0:18:03 | 0:18:07
and he is bewitched
by her presence, as we all are. | 0:18:07 | 0:18:11
Here's a clip. | 0:18:11 | 0:18:13
Hey.
You're the next-door guy, right? | 0:18:20 | 0:18:25
Which makes you the girl next door. | 0:18:25 | 0:18:28
Have you seen the movie
Saturday Night Fever? | 0:18:28 | 0:18:35
Yeah, actually, three times. | 0:18:35 | 0:18:40
So, you like disco dancing? | 0:18:40 | 0:18:42
Oh, God. | 0:18:42 | 0:18:44
I like drunk dancing. | 0:18:44 | 0:18:47
So, if I make you a drink, | 0:18:47 | 0:18:49
do you want to be my partner
for my dance class? | 0:18:49 | 0:18:55
If you fetch me a drink,
I will clean your bathroom. | 0:18:55 | 0:19:00
I already love it. | 0:19:04 | 0:19:06
You can see there is real
chemistry between them. | 0:19:06 | 0:19:09
The film divides its time
between the story | 0:19:09 | 0:19:12
of the rise and fall
of their relationship. | 0:19:12 | 0:19:14
And a few years later on, | 0:19:14 | 0:19:16
when she falls ill and calls on him
to bring him back to Liverpool, | 0:19:16 | 0:19:21
when she falls ill and calls on him
to bring her back to Liverpool, | 0:19:21 | 0:19:25
she feels she can get better
in Liverpool, | 0:19:25 | 0:19:27
it was directed
with warmth and passion. | 0:19:27 | 0:19:29
Paul McGuigan made a film called
Gangster Number One | 0:19:29 | 0:19:31
at the turn of the century
which was exciting. | 0:19:31 | 0:19:34
I love the slipping back and forth
through time. | 0:19:34 | 0:19:37
The performances were wonderful. | 0:19:37 | 0:19:41
Bening is transfixing. | 0:19:41 | 0:19:43
You believe in her as someone
with a real film star past. | 0:19:43 | 0:19:51
the voice that she has adopted,
the rest a touch of Marilyn Monroe. | 0:19:51 | 0:19:54
Referred to as the other blonde. | 0:19:54 | 0:19:56
She was a movie star and had
a movie star presence. | 0:19:56 | 0:20:01
What the film does is it makes them
feel like they are genuinely in love | 0:20:01 | 0:20:07
with each other. | 0:20:07 | 0:20:08
Despite a very big age gap. | 0:20:08 | 0:20:09
Interestingly enough,
what the film does is invert | 0:20:09 | 0:20:11
the usual age and
gender relationship. | 0:20:11 | 0:20:13
It does not make
a big deal out of it. | 0:20:13 | 0:20:16
There is a time when she says
I want to play Juliet and he says do | 0:20:16 | 0:20:20
you mean the maid? | 0:20:20 | 0:20:21
She says to you see
me as an old woman? | 0:20:21 | 0:20:24
And the lovely thing is he doesn't
and editors the film | 0:20:24 | 0:20:30
and neither do we. | 0:20:30 | 0:20:32
I feel like her
performance is brilliant. | 0:20:32 | 0:20:34
And there is a joke about that. | 0:20:34 | 0:20:36
I feel like the performance
is brilliant. | 0:20:36 | 0:20:38
It is Oscar time. | 0:20:38 | 0:20:39
A lot of it is to do
with the attention to detail. | 0:20:39 | 0:20:42
It is really well done. | 0:20:42 | 0:20:43
If you have a period setting
and people get things wrong, | 0:20:43 | 0:20:46
it takes you out. | 0:20:46 | 0:20:48
It is charming and sweet
and I was moved by it. | 0:20:48 | 0:20:50
It is touching. | 0:20:50 | 0:20:51
A love story beautifully told. | 0:20:51 | 0:20:55
It reminded me of the film
making of Terence Davies, | 0:20:55 | 0:20:58
and I don't say that lightly. | 0:20:58 | 0:20:59
I do not say that likely
because I love him. | 0:20:59 | 0:21:02
Yes. | 0:21:02 | 0:21:02 | |
Praise indeed. | 0:21:02 | 0:21:03
I think you will like it. | 0:21:03 | 0:21:05
It has everything. | 0:21:05 | 0:21:08
Justice League. | 0:21:08 | 0:21:13
I live with someone
who wants to see this. | 0:21:13 | 0:21:16
It is big in our house. | 0:21:16 | 0:21:17
Superman is dead and
everyone is in mourning. | 0:21:17 | 0:21:19
Batman needs a new team. | 0:21:19 | 0:21:21
They need to fight
the villainous Steppenwolf. | 0:21:21 | 0:21:23
Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg. | 0:21:23 | 0:21:24
This had a troubled history. | 0:21:24 | 0:21:26
Personal tragedy meant
the director had to step down | 0:21:26 | 0:21:29
and Joss Whedon stepped in. | 0:21:29 | 0:21:31
I think they did two
months of free shoots. | 0:21:31 | 0:21:41
Halfway through, | 0:21:41 | 0:21:44
the producers ecided they had
to make it less dark | 0:21:44 | 0:21:47
and more funny because Wonder Woman
was doing well and dark ones | 0:21:47 | 0:21:50
were not doing well. | 0:21:50 | 0:21:51
It is a total mess. | 0:21:51 | 0:21:52
This makes Batman and Robin look
positively Shakespearean. | 0:21:52 | 0:21:55
Before the screening started, | 0:21:55 | 0:21:58
I read on the internet it was two
hours and 15 minutes. | 0:21:58 | 0:22:01
Someone said that is a mistake. | 0:22:01 | 0:22:03
It felt like four hours. | 0:22:03 | 0:22:04
It felt like a directors cut
without beautiful scenery. | 0:22:04 | 0:22:07
It has too little characters
and nothing for them to do. | 0:22:07 | 0:22:10
There is no reason to care
about these indestructible people | 0:22:10 | 0:22:13
who can do anything. | 0:22:13 | 0:22:17
who can do anything. | 0:22:17 | 0:22:18
It is a complete hodgepodge. | 0:22:18 | 0:22:25
they can fly or at least,
as they said in toy story, | 0:22:25 | 0:22:28
the full with style. | 0:22:28 | 0:22:30
Amazingly, for a film
with so much stuff in it, | 0:22:30 | 0:22:32
it is stunningly dull. | 0:22:32 | 0:22:34
It is really, really
turgid and boring. | 0:22:34 | 0:22:35
At no point does the film
making lift itself. | 0:22:35 | 0:22:38
You want to be engaged and absorbed
in the fantasy and I spent the whole | 0:22:38 | 0:22:42
time thinking "Are we there?" | 0:22:42 | 0:22:43
It started and then it
stopped and I left. | 0:22:43 | 0:22:46
You have to wait
until the end credits. | 0:22:46 | 0:22:48
There was one character
I was thrilled was not in the film | 0:22:48 | 0:22:52
and at the end they were. | 0:22:52 | 0:22:57
That is two hours of your life
you will never get back. | 0:22:57 | 0:23:00
Would you say the same for Mudbound? | 0:23:00 | 0:23:02
I liked it. | 0:23:02 | 0:23:04
A very powerful drama set
in 1940s Mississippi. | 0:23:04 | 0:23:06
Based on the novel
by Hillary Jordan. | 0:23:06 | 0:23:10
Directed by Hillary Jordan. | 0:23:10 | 0:23:11
It follows two families whose lives
and fortunes intertwine. | 0:23:11 | 0:23:14
One is Jason Mitchell. | 0:23:14 | 0:23:15
He goes off to fight
in World War Two. | 0:23:15 | 0:23:17
He returns to Mississippi
after the war to discover that | 0:23:17 | 0:23:20
nothing has changed. | 0:23:20 | 0:23:23
Here is a clip. | 0:23:23 | 0:23:26
You used the back door. | 0:23:29 | 0:23:34
Son, we don't want no trouble here. | 0:23:35 | 0:23:37
Go on. | 0:23:37 | 0:23:39 | |
You know what, you are right. | 0:23:41 | 0:23:43
When we were overseas, | 0:23:43 | 0:23:50
they did not make us use
the back door. | 0:23:50 | 0:23:52
General Patton put
us on the frontline. | 0:23:52 | 0:23:54
Yes, sir. | 0:23:54 | 0:23:55
Do you know what we did? | 0:23:55 | 0:23:57
He kicked the hell out of Hitler. | 0:23:57 | 0:23:58
You are all safe and
sound because of that. | 0:23:58 | 0:24:04
What I like about this,
you can tell from the scene, | 0:24:04 | 0:24:08
the tension in that scene
is really, really well done. | 0:24:08 | 0:24:10
The film covers events and actions
which are really horrible | 0:24:10 | 0:24:13
and really tough. | 0:24:13 | 0:24:14
But it has a genuine poetry to it. | 0:24:14 | 0:24:16
We hear the voices of several
different characters | 0:24:16 | 0:24:18
telling their story. | 0:24:18 | 0:24:39
The movie is keen to tell the story
from different angles. | 0:24:39 | 0:24:42
Beautifully shot by Rachel Morrison. | 0:24:42 | 0:24:43
She does a great job
with the cinematography. | 0:24:43 | 0:24:45
You can feel the land
and the environment and the mud | 0:24:45 | 0:24:48
of the title. | 0:24:48 | 0:24:49
The entire ensemble,
not a foot is put wrong. | 0:24:49 | 0:24:52
The film manages to bring
you into the world and intertwine | 0:24:52 | 0:24:55
personal and political stories
about racial and economic tension, | 0:24:55 | 0:24:57
but always making it feel
like it is a personal story. | 0:24:57 | 0:25:00
And it is very difficult
to do that without... | 0:25:00 | 0:25:03
You know, without feeling
like you are doing it. | 0:25:03 | 0:25:05
With this, you really are involved
in the lives of the characters | 0:25:05 | 0:25:08
and you feel the personal and
political completely intertwined. | 0:25:08 | 0:25:11
as I said, it has a poetry to it. | 0:25:11 | 0:25:13
Yeah, the people who say
it is remarkable but actually too | 0:25:13 | 0:25:16
bleak, is that fair? | 0:25:16 | 0:25:17
I don't agree. | 0:25:17 | 0:25:18
There is genuine poetry. | 0:25:18 | 0:25:19
Not just in the lyricism
of the visuals but in the way | 0:25:19 | 0:25:22
that the form is constructed. | 0:25:22 | 0:25:24
that the film is constructed. | 0:25:24 | 0:25:25
Obviously I know a lot
of people will sit | 0:25:25 | 0:25:28
with the Netflix release. | 0:25:28 | 0:25:29
But I think you need to see it
on the big screen if you can | 0:25:29 | 0:25:33
because it has real cinematic scope. | 0:25:33 | 0:25:34
And I don't think it is too bleak. | 0:25:34 | 0:25:37
It has heart and tenderness. | 0:25:37 | 0:25:38
It has a poetic quality
which is key to the films. | 0:25:38 | 0:25:43
Interesting. | 0:25:43 | 0:25:43
See it on the big screen. | 0:25:43 | 0:25:45
if you can. | 0:25:45 | 0:25:46
And next is Florida Project. | 0:25:46 | 0:25:47
You will love it. | 0:25:47 | 0:25:50
Have you seen this yet? | 0:25:50 | 0:25:52
I have been away. | 0:25:52 | 0:25:53
I am a bit behind,
it is fair to say. | 0:25:53 | 0:25:55
A great story about a family living
on the poverty line in these motels | 0:25:55 | 0:25:59
beyond the walls of Disneyland. | 0:25:59 | 0:26:02
It is like East of Eden. | 0:26:02 | 0:26:03
It has naturalistic performances. | 0:26:03 | 0:26:05
The whole world is seen
through the view of a six-year-old. | 0:26:05 | 0:26:09
The film manages to capture that
child's prospective. | 0:26:09 | 0:26:14
Yes, it is poverty in a themed hotel
which is now a motel for those | 0:26:14 | 0:26:20
on minimum wage. | 0:26:20 | 0:26:23
And yet, it is summer break. | 0:26:23 | 0:26:26
These children are running around
and to them, it is like Wonderland. | 0:26:26 | 0:26:29
The film mixes economics
with a child's eyes. | 0:26:29 | 0:26:38
Some people did not get it at all
and I am surprised. | 0:26:38 | 0:26:42
I think it is one of the best films
this year and many people feel | 0:26:42 | 0:26:46
the same way. | 0:26:46 | 0:26:47
Yes. | 0:26:47 | 0:26:48 | |
If people want to stay at home
they can watch this. | 0:26:48 | 0:26:52
One of the big hits of the summer. | 0:26:52 | 0:26:54
The Big Sick. | 0:26:54 | 0:26:55
It is a really lovely film. | 0:26:55 | 0:26:57
It is stirring and written
by Kumail Nanjiani. | 0:26:57 | 0:27:00
It is inspired by a real-life story
of him being unable to commit | 0:27:00 | 0:27:03
to his girlfriend until a mystery
illness landed her in | 0:27:03 | 0:27:06
a medically-induced coma. | 0:27:06 | 0:27:09
It doesn't sell my perfect
subject matter is a comedy. | 0:27:09 | 0:27:12
It is really funny and deals
with subjects like commitment | 0:27:12 | 0:27:15
and racism and racial prejudice
and arranged marriages. | 0:27:15 | 0:27:20
To do it all through these
characters as well, | 0:27:20 | 0:27:26
who you get to like
and love, | 0:27:26 | 0:27:35
I mean, it is genuinely
laugh-out-loud funny. | 0:27:35 | 0:27:36
It is a movie where the comedy
is born from the fact you recognise | 0:27:36 | 0:27:40
the characters and you are not
living in a completely unbelievable | 0:27:40 | 0:27:43
environment. | 0:27:43 | 0:27:43
You believe in the
situation they are in. | 0:27:43 | 0:27:46
I laughed all the way
through but was also moved | 0:27:46 | 0:27:48
by the melancholic edge to it. | 0:27:48 | 0:27:50
It is all given another layer
by the fact there is a certain | 0:27:50 | 0:27:54
amount of poetic licence to say
it is based on a true story. | 0:27:54 | 0:27:57
He is telling his own story
and doing it really well | 0:27:57 | 0:28:00
that is an interesting week. | 0:28:00 | 0:28:01
A really interesting week. | 0:28:01 | 0:28:03
And going now with your
review of Justice league. | 0:28:03 | 0:28:05
I have a domestic battle on my hands
now with Justice League, though. | 0:28:05 | 0:28:09
See you next week. | 0:28:09 | 0:28:10

Thank you for joining us. | 0:28:18 | 0:28:19
Goodbye. | 0:28:19 | 0:28:20
Hello, this is Breakfast
with Roger Johnson and Naga | 0:29:28 | 0:29:31
Munchetty. | 0:29:31 | 0:29:31
Good Morning, here's a summary
of this morning's main stories | 0:29:31 | 0:29:34
from BBC News. | 0:29:34 | 0:29:39
After 34 years at the helm,
the Sinn Fein leader, | 0:29:39 | 0:29:40
Police in it feels like they have
found the body of Gaia Pope force to | 0:29:46 | 0:29:52
specialist search teams later
discovery on Saturday close look | 0:29:52 | 0:29:55
coastal part in Swanage. But is
being treated as unexplained and the | 0:29:55 | 0:30:01
family absolutely devastated. We
want to thank each and every one of | 0:30:01 | 0:30:11
you for all that you have done. Your
dedication and selflessness for a | 0:30:11 | 0:30:18
girl that many of you don't even
know has been staggering and one of | 0:30:18 | 0:30:23
the few things that kept us going.
Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe | 0:30:23 | 0:30:36
is expected to meet military
commanders this morning at day after | 0:30:36 | 0:30:39
tens of thousands of protesters
called for his resignation. Mr | 0:30:39 | 0:30:43
Mugabe has resisted calls to step
down for his party that is expected | 0:30:43 | 0:30:47
to become the province -- formal
process of stripping him of his | 0:30:47 | 0:30:51
role. | 0:30:51 | 0:30:57 | |
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has
pledged to use Wednesday's budget | 0:30:57 | 0:31:00
to help build 300-thousand
new homes a year. | 0:31:00 | 0:31:03
Philip Hammond has told
the Sunday Times he'll invest | 0:31:03 | 0:31:05
billions and fix planning
regulations to get builders | 0:31:05 | 0:31:07
building. | 0:31:07 | 0:31:07
He'll also announce funding to get
driverless cars on the road | 0:31:07 | 0:31:10
within four years. | 0:31:10 | 0:31:11
After 34 years at the helm,
the Sinn Fein leader, | 0:31:11 | 0:31:14
Gerry Adams, says he
plans to step down. | 0:31:14 | 0:31:16
During his time as leader,
he persuaded the IRA to call | 0:31:16 | 0:31:19
a ceasefire and pursued a political
settlement in the form | 0:31:19 | 0:31:22
of the Good Friday Agreement. | 0:31:22 | 0:31:23
His decision to resign brings
to an end the longest party | 0:31:23 | 0:31:26
leadership in Britain or Ireland. | 0:31:26 | 0:31:30
Republicanism has never been
stronger. This is our time. We will | 0:31:30 | 0:31:34
grow even stronger in the future,
not leadership -- but leadership | 0:31:34 | 0:31:41
means knowing when it is time to
change. That time is now. I will not | 0:31:41 | 0:31:48
be standing in the next election. | 0:31:48 | 0:32:00
The Argentine navy says it has
detected signals from a submarine | 0:32:00 | 0:32:03
which has been missing
since Wednesday with 44 | 0:32:03 | 0:32:05
crew on board. | 0:32:05 | 0:32:06
The San Juan was on a
routine mission off | 0:32:06 | 0:32:09
the southern tip of Argentina
when it lost contact with naval | 0:32:09 | 0:32:12
command on Wednesday. | 0:32:12 | 0:32:12
The defence ministry is now working
with a US company to trace | 0:32:12 | 0:32:16
the location of the seven
failed satellite calls | 0:32:16 | 0:32:18
received on Saturday. | 0:32:18 | 0:32:19
The actor and singer, David Cassidy,
is being treated in a Florida | 0:32:19 | 0:32:22
hospital for multiple organ failure. | 0:32:22 | 0:32:23
The 67-year-old who first found
fame in the TV sitcom, | 0:32:23 | 0:32:26
'The Partridge Family',
was rushed to hospital three days | 0:32:26 | 0:32:28
ago and requires a liver transplant. | 0:32:28 | 0:32:30
He is believed to be conscious
and surrounded by his family, | 0:32:30 | 0:32:33
following reports he had been
put in an induced coma. | 0:32:33 | 0:32:36
The Queen and Prince Philip
will celebrate their 70th | 0:32:36 | 0:32:38
wedding anniversary tomorrow. | 0:32:38 | 0:32:39
To mark the milestone,
Buckingham Palace has released | 0:32:39 | 0:32:41
this new portrait. | 0:32:41 | 0:32:42
A set of six commemorative stamps
have also been issued by Royal Mail, | 0:32:42 | 0:32:46
they feature the couple's
engagement and wedding. | 0:32:46 | 0:32:47
They are the first royal couple
to celebrate their platinum | 0:32:47 | 0:32:50
anniversary. | 0:32:50 | 0:32:57
This that's catch up with the sport.
Big rugby league game going on. Has | 0:32:57 | 0:33:02
it finished? Going on still even
though, well, we can't jinx it, | 0:33:02 | 0:33:10
there is maybe ten or 15 minutes
left. They have a good lead and if | 0:33:10 | 0:33:16
they beat Papua New Guinea, they
will face colour. Some big matches | 0:33:16 | 0:33:22
to come but this one looks like it
is going to plan. England has | 0:33:22 | 0:33:25
dominated this match in Melbourne. | 0:33:25 | 0:33:27
Well England have dominated this
match in Melbourne and they did | 0:33:31 | 0:33:34
so from the off. | 0:33:34 | 0:33:35
Jermaine McGillvary has
been their best performer | 0:33:35 | 0:33:37
in the tournament so far
and he added another try there, | 0:33:37 | 0:33:40
before he and Kallum Watkins
combined for another shortly | 0:33:40 | 0:33:42
after as well. | 0:33:42 | 0:33:43
England have scored four tries
in total, Alex Walmsley | 0:33:43 | 0:33:45
and Ben Currie with the others. | 0:33:45 | 0:33:47
20 points to six the
score after an hour. | 0:33:47 | 0:33:50
And these are the live
pictures of that match. | 0:33:50 | 0:33:52
You can follow the closing
stages over on BBC Two. | 0:33:52 | 0:34:05
We will keep you updated throughout
the morning. | 0:34:05 | 0:34:07
In rugby union, England
continued their dominance | 0:34:07 | 0:34:09
against Australia under
head coach Eddie Jones. | 0:34:09 | 0:34:11
They got their fifth straight win
over the Wallabies at Twickenham | 0:34:11 | 0:34:14
scoring three tries in the final ten
minutes of the game. | 0:34:14 | 0:34:17
Danny Care going over for the final
score to seal a record win by 30 | 0:34:17 | 0:34:21
points to six. | 0:34:21 | 0:34:21
England face Samoa next weekend. | 0:34:21 | 0:34:28
Well, you know, I thought early on
that we were probably a little bit | 0:34:28 | 0:34:33
sloppy in our attacking situation.
We hit some wrong options. | 0:34:33 | 0:34:37
Defensively we were good most of the
game and dropped off a bit at the | 0:34:37 | 0:34:41
end. Having had so many players come
in and out of the side, I was really | 0:34:41 | 0:34:46
pleased with the performance. | 0:34:46 | 0:34:47
The game of the day
though was in Scotland - | 0:34:47 | 0:34:50
they came within one converted try
of a first ever win over | 0:34:50 | 0:34:53
New Zealand, but they were beaten
22-17 in a thriller at Murrayfield. | 0:34:53 | 0:34:56
Fly-half Beauden Barret scored this
breath-taking try for the All Blacks | 0:34:56 | 0:34:59
to put them into what
looked like a commanding | 0:34:59 | 0:35:02
lead, but Scotland pushed the world
champions all the way. | 0:35:02 | 0:35:05
In the final minute of the match
Stuart Hogg thought he might've | 0:35:05 | 0:35:08
broken through to win the game,
but he was just forced out of play | 0:35:08 | 0:35:12
as the clocked hit full-time. | 0:35:12 | 0:35:19
We spoke in the week, you don't get
too many chances because of | 0:35:19 | 0:35:23
scheduling and injury and non-
selection. This is one of the best | 0:35:23 | 0:35:27
teams in world sport, not just
rugby. Let's not forget that. What | 0:35:27 | 0:35:31
we have done is pretty good but we
are very proud with the effort. | 0:35:31 | 0:35:39
An experimental Welsh side hung
on to beat Georgia 13-6 | 0:35:39 | 0:35:42
at the Principality Stadium. | 0:35:42 | 0:35:43
Wales made 14 changes to the side
that lost to Australia | 0:35:43 | 0:35:46
last time out. | 0:35:46 | 0:35:47
Young winger Hallam Amos got
the only try of the game. | 0:35:47 | 0:35:56
And a below-strength Ireland
beat Fiji in Dublin - | 0:35:56 | 0:35:58
but only just. | 0:35:58 | 0:35:59
They started well and were 14
points ahead at one stage, | 0:35:59 | 0:36:02
but needed a late Ian Kearney
penalty to finish the match off, | 0:36:02 | 0:36:05
23 points to 20. | 0:36:05 | 0:36:08
Manchester City still look
unbeatable as they preserved | 0:36:08 | 0:36:10
their big lead at the top
of the Premier League. | 0:36:10 | 0:36:13
They beat Leicester 2-0
with a couple of special goals | 0:36:13 | 0:36:16
in the process. | 0:36:16 | 0:36:17
Manchester United, Chelsea,
Liverpool and Arsenal | 0:36:17 | 0:36:18
all won as well. | 0:36:18 | 0:36:20
Ben Croucher has the pick
of Saturday's action... | 0:36:20 | 0:36:27
Sitting constantly, it is as cosy as
it gets for Manchester City at the | 0:36:27 | 0:36:31
top of the table, playing the kind
of football that you can live with. | 0:36:31 | 0:36:35
With the latest to come up against
the side having their own goal of | 0:36:35 | 0:36:39
the season competition, Gabriele
finished off a flowing team move. | 0:36:39 | 0:36:43
Provided the individual resinous --
Williams. -- brilliance. Rola to | 0:36:43 | 0:36:52
give more distance from three
contenders and they were going to | 0:36:52 | 0:36:58
keep going. Still a point clear of
Manchester United who rediscovered | 0:36:58 | 0:37:02
their swagger against Newcastle. Man
of the match Paul Pogba back from | 0:37:02 | 0:37:09
injury, back on the scoresheet.
Still daylight between the | 0:37:09 | 0:37:14
Manchester clubs, just a point
between those in North -- north | 0:37:14 | 0:37:17
London. Chelsea have jumped above
Spurs. They thrashed West Brom 4-0. | 0:37:17 | 0:37:26
Their fans made an early exit. The
manager followed. The important | 0:37:26 | 0:37:32
thing is doing the right thing for
the football club. Whether that is | 0:37:32 | 0:37:35
me staying and -- or whether it is a
change. They will have to make that | 0:37:35 | 0:37:42
decision but the decision should be
made to the benefit of the football | 0:37:42 | 0:37:46
club, not the benefit of any
individual. What West Brom wouldn't | 0:37:46 | 0:37:49
give for a win. Liverpool now have
three in a row. Muhammad scored | 0:37:49 | 0:37:59
three in a row. It is equally sweet
for Burnley. Three straight wins as | 0:37:59 | 0:38:05
well. It keeps on seventh and keeps
Swansea sitting Leicester Treaty in | 0:38:05 | 0:38:11
the bottom three. | 0:38:11 | 0:38:14
In Scotland Celtic
look unbeatable too. | 0:38:14 | 0:38:16
64 games it's now been
since their last league defeat | 0:38:16 | 0:38:18
But they had to wait until 12
minutes from time to beat | 0:38:18 | 0:38:22
Ross County - Leigh Griffiths'
free kick the difference | 0:38:22 | 0:38:24
between the sides. | 0:38:24 | 0:38:25
Hamilton, St. | 0:38:25 | 0:38:25
Johnstone and Motherwell also won | 0:38:25 | 0:38:32
England's women have lost the Ashes
- but they've won their penultimate | 0:38:32 | 0:38:35
T20 of the series in Australia
to save a bit of face. | 0:38:35 | 0:38:39
England set the Aussies a total
of 153 to win in Canberra | 0:38:39 | 0:38:42
and then bowled them all out
for 112 to win by 40 runs, | 0:38:42 | 0:38:45
with Jenny Gunn taking four wickets | 0:38:45 | 0:38:50
There'll be a straight shoot out
between two Englishman | 0:38:50 | 0:38:52
for golf's Race To Dubai title. | 0:38:52 | 0:38:54
Olympic champion Justin Rose has
a two shot lead over | 0:38:54 | 0:38:56
Tommy Fleetwood going
into today's final round. | 0:38:56 | 0:38:58
Should either of them go
on to win the tournament, | 0:38:58 | 0:39:01
they will top the money list
for the year on the European Tour. | 0:39:01 | 0:39:10
You could have scripted a much
better. The last two rounds have | 0:39:10 | 0:39:14
been incredible for Tommy. He is
right there, he has dubbed | 0:39:14 | 0:39:19
everything he needs to do and I have
done everything I need to do. We are | 0:39:19 | 0:39:24
setting up one final day. | 0:39:24 | 0:39:25
Who would have predicted this final
of the ATP World Tour Finals | 0:39:25 | 0:39:28
at the start of the week? | 0:39:28 | 0:39:30
Grigor Dimitrov
against David Goffin. | 0:39:30 | 0:39:31
Belgian Goffin sprung the biggest
surprise of the finals by beating | 0:39:31 | 0:39:34
Roger Federer in three sets. | 0:39:34 | 0:39:36
He said the win gave him so much
happiness while Federer suffered | 0:39:36 | 0:39:39
only a fifth defeat this year | 0:39:39 | 0:39:48
Maybe never reached my best level.
The first set was all right. He | 0:39:48 | 0:39:52
didn't play very well in that set.
So it's pretty disappointing but at | 0:39:52 | 0:39:59
the end he did play extremely well
and he was the better player on the | 0:39:59 | 0:40:04
court so I feel like it's OK like
this. | 0:40:04 | 0:40:07 | |
Dimitrov beat the American Jack Sock
in three sets for a shot | 0:40:07 | 0:40:10
at the biggest title of his career. | 0:40:10 | 0:40:12
The Bulgarian faces Goffin
in London later this evening. | 0:40:12 | 0:40:14
The match is live on BBC Two,
coverage starts at 6am. | 0:40:14 | 0:40:24
Carl Frampton's homecoming fight
in Belfast was a successful one | 0:40:24 | 0:40:27
after a points victory over
Mexican Horacio Garcia | 0:40:27 | 0:40:29
Frampton did go to the canvas
in the seventh round but his solid | 0:40:29 | 0:40:33
work at close range throughout
the contest gave him the edge | 0:40:33 | 0:40:36
of the judge's scorecards. | 0:40:36 | 0:40:37
He's now targeting another attempt
to win back a world title | 0:40:37 | 0:40:42
British speed skater Elise Christie
has won the first World Cup short | 0:40:42 | 0:40:47
track event of the season,
taking gold in the 500 metres | 0:40:47 | 0:40:49
in Seoul after she
made a false start. | 0:40:49 | 0:40:52
Earlier this year, Christie became
the first British woman to win | 0:40:52 | 0:40:55
a World Championship gold,
she's now one of Britain's best | 0:40:55 | 0:40:58
medal hopes at next
year's Winter Olympics. | 0:40:58 | 0:41:06
What a busy morning in sport! Let's
look at the Rugby union. It is 24- | 0:41:06 | 0:41:11
six at the moment. They look safe
now. Papua New Guinea has been a | 0:41:11 | 0:41:17
surprise package. Stronger than what
most people would have had them done | 0:41:17 | 0:41:21
for. Home and dry, into the
semifinals. After Rugby League World | 0:41:21 | 0:41:26
Cup. Don't jinx it! | 0:41:26 | 0:41:32
Robert Mugabe, the President
of Zimbabwe, will this morning meet | 0:41:32 | 0:41:35
with the military leaders who have
taken control of the country, | 0:41:35 | 0:41:38
it is expected that that they will
try to persuade Mr Mugabe | 0:41:38 | 0:41:41
to stand down. | 0:41:41 | 0:41:42
His Zanu-PF Party, will
also meet to discuss | 0:41:42 | 0:41:44
stripping him of his title. | 0:41:44 | 0:41:46
Let's speak now to Alex Magaisa,
a former adviser to the country's | 0:41:46 | 0:41:49
opposition leader. | 0:41:49 | 0:41:55
Thank you for taking the time to
join us this morning. We are very | 0:41:55 | 0:42:00
grateful to you. Is this the end of
Robert Mugabe today? I think this is | 0:42:00 | 0:42:05
the end of an era. The pressure
against Mr Mugabe is just relentless | 0:42:05 | 0:42:12
and if he does not understand it, I
think he will end up being pushed | 0:42:12 | 0:42:16
out and it will be quite disgraceful
for him. We saw the scenes yesterday | 0:42:16 | 0:42:21
with so many people out on the
street. Is it just the sentiment | 0:42:21 | 0:42:26
finally allowed to express itself
after so many years when people were | 0:42:26 | 0:42:30
afraid to speak out? Absolutely.
Yesterday, we saw the convergence of | 0:42:30 | 0:42:37
many forces. It doesn't mean that
all of these people agree on all of | 0:42:37 | 0:42:41
the things that they certainly
agreed that it is time for Mr Mugabe | 0:42:41 | 0:42:45
to go. And what the vendor for the
future? You know more can change | 0:42:45 | 0:42:51
arrive, he was part of the
government for a period of time. | 0:42:51 | 0:42:58
Zimbabwe has a lot of potential and
talent. There is a lot of potential | 0:42:58 | 0:43:09
and it is important to be used to
create space for democracy. -- | 0:43:09 | 0:43:17
Morgan Tsvangirai. Is there that
Robert Mugabe can hang on? He is a | 0:43:17 | 0:43:22
very stubborn man. He will try to
fight until the last but the | 0:43:22 | 0:43:28
pressure on him is just too much. He
cannot stop the tide. Presumably, | 0:43:28 | 0:43:33
when you say he will try and fight
and hang on, the army have gone | 0:43:33 | 0:43:37
against him now so how can he hang
on? He has lost the army, he has | 0:43:37 | 0:43:43
survived because of the army, he
survived because the military powers | 0:43:43 | 0:43:48
has been behind him especially since
2008 when he almost lost an election | 0:43:48 | 0:43:54
to Mr Morgan Tsvangirai. He will try
to use all of the tricks in the book | 0:43:54 | 0:44:00
to survive but on this occasion,
those supporting him have taken over | 0:44:00 | 0:44:05
the power and that a big bet is any
potential to survive. Where will he | 0:44:05 | 0:44:10
go? What will happen to him? I would
like to think he would not leave the | 0:44:10 | 0:44:16
country. He is a very power -- proud
man. If you'll is that he is | 0:44:16 | 0:44:20
entitled to Zimbabwe and feels as he
is entitled to do as he wishes. I | 0:44:20 | 0:44:25
think the longer he stays and love
he tries to resist, he is reducing | 0:44:25 | 0:44:37
his options to stay in Zimbabwe.
Whoever takes over, will they be | 0:44:37 | 0:44:43
happy for Robert Mugabe to live
safely in Zimbabwe in the future? | 0:44:43 | 0:44:46
Icho said even those behind this
military -- option do have sympathy | 0:44:46 | 0:44:53
and respect for him. These are
people that have been together for | 0:44:53 | 0:44:57
more than 50 years. I suspect that
some of them might want to give him | 0:44:57 | 0:45:04
that dignified exit and have the
continued negotiation. They think | 0:45:04 | 0:45:09
maybe they will keep him inside the
country that he is reducing his | 0:45:09 | 0:45:13
opportunities that because of the
stubbornness he is exhibiting. | 0:45:13 | 0:45:18
It's 6:45am, and you're watching
Breakfast from BBC News. | 0:45:19 | 0:45:25
Here's Philip with a look
at this morning's weather. | 0:45:25 | 0:45:27
What a beautiful night's sky. Clear
sky for us | 0:45:27 | 0:45:31
What a beautiful night's sky. Clear
sky for us to get clear skies like | 0:45:31 | 0:45:32
that? Indeed so. This was the scene
across one part of Cumbria. Quite | 0:45:32 | 0:45:37
widely, I suspect, last night, once
the overnight rain had gone. It's | 0:45:37 | 0:45:43
led to that sort of temperature
profile first up - minus 5 in | 0:45:43 | 0:45:48
Cumbria but, out west, a bit of a
different tale. More in the way of | 0:45:48 | 0:45:52
cloud here, because that weather
front is not a million miles away. | 0:45:52 | 0:45:56
The mist and fog is not a widespread
problem, but worth thinking about | 0:45:58 | 0:46:02
for the next hour or two if you're
on the roads. Through the day, this | 0:46:02 | 0:46:07
veil of cloud will creep further
towards the east. Ever-present, and | 0:46:07 | 0:46:10
in fact it's thick enough in one or
two spots across the south-west | 0:46:10 | 0:46:14
already that there'll be the odd
spot of rain. Never amounting to | 0:46:14 | 0:46:18
very much on its southern extremity.
You're going to have hazy sunshine, | 0:46:18 | 0:46:22
I would have thought, across central
and eastern parts of England and | 0:46:22 | 0:46:26
Wales. Further north, there is a bit
more about the cloud and, | 0:46:26 | 0:46:30
consequently, the rain here as well
for the south-west of Scotland into | 0:46:30 | 0:46:34
Northern Ireland too. Further north
and east in Scotland, you are the | 0:46:34 | 0:46:39
drier -- the drier your day will be
until you get to the Northern Isles | 0:46:39 | 0:46:43
and far north-east, a breeze and one
or two showers. Overnight, this | 0:46:43 | 0:46:47
relatively mild air will push into
the cold air across Scotland. As a | 0:46:47 | 0:46:51
consequence, the snow will fall to
about 200m initially, then rise, as | 0:46:51 | 0:46:54
more mild air comes in. Well, that
doesn't look very mild but, compared | 0:46:54 | 0:47:00
to where we've been last night, it
is much milder, and very much milder | 0:47:00 | 0:47:03
across the far south-west. As we get
on through Monday, much of the bulk | 0:47:03 | 0:47:09
of the rain will gradually drift
away, but it will leave behind one | 0:47:09 | 0:47:13
of those days - lots of cloud, bits
and pieces of rain and drizzle. The | 0:47:13 | 0:47:17
good news is - it will be mild for
many. For Scotland, it will be one | 0:47:17 | 0:47:21
of those raw, grey sort of days,
because the mild air doesn't quite | 0:47:21 | 0:47:25
make it in towards the northern
parts of Scotland. So it's a mild, | 0:47:25 | 0:47:29
grey day for many, and that's the
way it stays as we get into the | 0:47:29 | 0:47:33
middle part of the week - frontal
systems coming in from the Atlantic. | 0:47:33 | 0:47:37
Wet and windy for many Tuesday and,
indeed, on into the middle part of | 0:47:37 | 0:47:42
the week. See you later. Oh, dear.
Not what we want! Philip, thank you | 0:47:42 | 0:47:46
Not what we want! Philip, thank you
very much indeed. Not too bad. Wet | 0:47:46 | 0:47:49
and windy. It's winter. Actually,
no, it's autumn. | 0:47:49 | 0:47:54
We'll bring you the
headlines at 7:00am. | 0:47:54 | 0:47:55
Time now for this week's Click. | 0:47:55 | 0:47:57
Just across the water
from Hong Kong, | 0:48:14 | 0:48:17
on the Chinese mainland, | 0:48:17 | 0:48:19
lies a city at the heart
of the country's | 0:48:19 | 0:48:22
technological revolution. | 0:48:22 | 0:48:25
Welcome back to Shenzhen. | 0:48:25 | 0:48:27
This is where stuff gets made. | 0:48:29 | 0:48:33
More than 70% of the world's mobile
phones are manufactured in China. | 0:48:34 | 0:48:41
But all that industry
is taking its toll on the city. | 0:48:41 | 0:48:46
As the buildings go up
to accommodate the influx | 0:48:46 | 0:48:48
of businesses, the smog has come
down to remind everyone of the price | 0:48:48 | 0:48:52
you pay for a rapidly
expanding industrial economy. | 0:48:52 | 0:48:59
The middle-class here is also
consuming more power, | 0:48:59 | 0:49:02
as well as demanding something else
- good quality home-grown products. | 0:49:02 | 0:49:05
And Chinese brands are rising
to the challenge, with names | 0:49:05 | 0:49:07
like ZTE, Xiaomi and Huawei even
breaking out of China and becoming | 0:49:07 | 0:49:11
recognised and desired worldwide. | 0:49:11 | 0:49:18
One such brand is OnePlus. | 0:49:22 | 0:49:27
Now, despite only being four years
old, it's already turned out | 0:49:27 | 0:49:30
a number of phones that have been
compared favourably to the top end | 0:49:30 | 0:49:34
Samsungs and iPhones and this week
it unveiled a brand-new handset, | 0:49:34 | 0:49:37
the 5T, with all the fanfare that
a big phone launch gets these days. | 0:49:37 | 0:49:43
Are you all excited? | 0:49:43 | 0:49:46
The secrecy that surrounds these
new phones' prelaunch is intense | 0:49:46 | 0:49:50
and, let's be honest,
it's part of the hype. | 0:49:50 | 0:49:53
Look, it's another black rectangle! | 0:49:53 | 0:49:56
But as such it's really rare to get
a look behind the scenes | 0:49:56 | 0:49:59
at the design, the manufacture
and the launch of a new device. | 0:49:59 | 0:50:06
But in Shenzhen, two weeks
before the unveiling, | 0:50:06 | 0:50:08
we were given exclusive access
to the inner workings | 0:50:08 | 0:50:12
of the production line
on the run-up to D-Day. | 0:50:12 | 0:50:14
Now I'm qualified to
serve you pastries. | 0:50:14 | 0:50:20
They make loads of different types
of phones in this factory, | 0:50:20 | 0:50:23
so to keep the 5T as secret
from all the other workers, | 0:50:23 | 0:50:26
everything happens behind
the blue shroud of secrecy. | 0:50:26 | 0:50:28
Are you ready? | 0:50:28 | 0:50:29
Thank you. | 0:50:29 | 0:50:31
Come in. | 0:50:31 | 0:50:33
Welcome to production line 27. | 0:50:37 | 0:50:42
The phone starts life as just a tiny
camera there and then it's gradually | 0:50:42 | 0:50:47
assembled around this U
shaped production line, | 0:50:47 | 0:50:50
which means by the time it gets
to the end it's a fully featured | 0:50:50 | 0:50:54
phone, just about there. | 0:50:54 | 0:50:57
This is the reason China has come to
dominate electronics manufacturing. | 0:50:58 | 0:51:03
A ready supply of a disciplined,
relatively low-cost workforce. | 0:51:03 | 0:51:07
Each person here has one unique job
which requires concentration, | 0:51:07 | 0:51:12
speed and precision. | 0:51:12 | 0:51:14
A single speck of dust caught
in the camera lens and the finished | 0:51:14 | 0:51:17
phone will be rejected. | 0:51:17 | 0:51:23
What I found most surprising
about this is it's all people. | 0:51:23 | 0:51:27
I would have thought with this kind
of high precision job, | 0:51:27 | 0:51:30
these phones would have been
built solely by machines, | 0:51:30 | 0:51:34
but it's pretty much all humans. | 0:51:34 | 0:51:38
Each line can produce more
than 90 phones an hour. | 0:51:38 | 0:51:41
It's exhausting just watching this. | 0:51:41 | 0:51:45
Fortunately, the staff get
a two-hour lunch break and also, | 0:51:48 | 0:51:52
suddenly at 3pm... | 0:51:52 | 0:51:56
BELL RINGS | 0:51:56 | 0:51:58
This might look weird,
but having seen how intense this job | 0:51:58 | 0:52:02
is and how much concentration
you need, this ten minute eye | 0:52:02 | 0:52:05
break is invaluable. | 0:52:05 | 0:52:10
I think if I was doing this job I'd
just want ten minutes to get my head | 0:52:10 | 0:52:14
down and close my eyes
and reset my brain too. | 0:52:14 | 0:52:17
Wow! | 0:52:17 | 0:52:19 | |
Now, these people are bringing
to life a design that has been | 0:52:20 | 0:52:23
anguished over, squeezed
for efficiency and ultimately | 0:52:23 | 0:52:25
compromised to keep costs down. | 0:52:25 | 0:52:30
I'm meeting with one
of the designers to get | 0:52:30 | 0:52:33
the inside track on how he's made
this black rectangle ever | 0:52:33 | 0:52:37
so slightly different
from all the others. | 0:52:37 | 0:52:38
For every new phone,
you come up with lots of different | 0:52:38 | 0:52:41
designs, like this. | 0:52:41 | 0:52:45
200. | 0:52:45 | 0:52:46 | |
Oh, my word! | 0:52:46 | 0:52:48
Do you think we've
achieved peak design now? | 0:52:48 | 0:52:50
We are still making some choices,
some sacrifices, in favour | 0:52:50 | 0:52:53
of the beauty of the exterior,
still a little bit. | 0:52:53 | 0:52:58
Such as? | 0:52:58 | 0:52:59
Well, such as, actually the best
place for this would be leaning | 0:52:59 | 0:53:03
directly on the corner. | 0:53:03 | 0:53:05
In our design, we have this angle
here, so that doesn't allow us | 0:53:05 | 0:53:10
to put this directly here. | 0:53:10 | 0:53:13
Back at the factory,
Simon would be horrified | 0:53:13 | 0:53:16
by what happens to his design. | 0:53:16 | 0:53:19
DRAMATIC SCREAMING | 0:53:22 | 0:53:26
This is where an unlucky few phones
are pulled off the production line | 0:53:26 | 0:53:30
to check extreme tolerance. | 0:53:30 | 0:53:32
Elsewhere, other test phones
escape that big plunge, | 0:53:32 | 0:53:34
but instead are dropped
5,000 times each. | 0:53:34 | 0:53:44
Others have their charging
ports wiggled and buttons | 0:53:44 | 0:53:46
pressed 10,000 times. | 0:53:46 | 0:53:47
And then there's the tumble dryer. | 0:53:47 | 0:53:49
Only when about 70% of the sample
phones start surviving this vigorous | 0:53:49 | 0:53:52
testing will a build
be deemed successful. | 0:53:52 | 0:53:59
For me this is a fascinating look
at how a phone is born and now that | 0:53:59 | 0:54:03
it's being launched this small
preproduction line can expand, | 0:54:03 | 0:54:06
once the company has an indication
of how many orders it will get. | 0:54:06 | 0:54:09
And that's the secret. | 0:54:09 | 0:54:11
Not to produce more
than you can sell. | 0:54:11 | 0:54:15
So when OnePlus decided
to take on the big brands, | 0:54:15 | 0:54:18
which can all afford to fail,
it decided to sell its first phone | 0:54:18 | 0:54:22
by invitation only. | 0:54:22 | 0:54:24
What was the thinking behind that? | 0:54:24 | 0:54:26
'Cause I would have tried to make it
as available as possible. | 0:54:26 | 0:54:30
So being a brand-new company and not
making such a complicated product | 0:54:30 | 0:54:35
as a smartphone and being based
here, we didn't really | 0:54:35 | 0:54:38
have the opportunity to test
the product in all the countries | 0:54:38 | 0:54:41
where we sold it and adding
to that we didn't know how many | 0:54:41 | 0:54:44
phones to make. | 0:54:44 | 0:54:46
If you end up having too many phones
in your warehouse that you can't | 0:54:46 | 0:54:50
sell, it's over. | 0:54:50 | 0:54:51
With the launch over,
OnePlus will nervously await | 0:54:51 | 0:54:53
the first reviews and, more
importantly, the advance orders. | 0:54:53 | 0:54:55
And they will decide whether these
people will be joined by hundreds | 0:54:55 | 0:55:00
more or not. | 0:55:00 | 0:55:05
The UK's anti-bullying week
is now coming to an end, | 0:55:19 | 0:55:23
but behind closed doors,
computer screens and even smart | 0:55:23 | 0:55:26
phones, the bullying that some
encounter in the school playground | 0:55:26 | 0:55:28
still lives on after-hours. | 0:55:28 | 0:55:36
After I did come out,
I then received online anonymous | 0:55:36 | 0:55:39
messages from an account
set up to message me, | 0:55:39 | 0:55:41
telling me I should kill myself,
because obviously they didn't agree | 0:55:41 | 0:55:44
with my sexuality. | 0:55:44 | 0:55:49
It destroyed me because not only
was the bullying happening | 0:55:49 | 0:55:53
at school, it had
followed me to my home. | 0:55:53 | 0:55:57
It followed me to my room,
my safe space where I feel happy | 0:55:57 | 0:56:00
and I am myself, I suddenly
couldn't be any more. | 0:56:00 | 0:56:07
Thomas moved schools and went
on to become one of Facebook's | 0:56:07 | 0:56:10
anti-bullying ambassadors,
a scheme funded by the social | 0:56:10 | 0:56:12
network to train up pupils
to provide peer-to-peer support | 0:56:12 | 0:56:14
within secondary schools. | 0:56:14 | 0:56:19
It's really important to have
someone there because it's someone | 0:56:19 | 0:56:22
they know they can come to as well. | 0:56:22 | 0:56:25
And with the ambassadors
being their generation, | 0:56:25 | 0:56:28
children are more likely to come
to us and know that they're | 0:56:28 | 0:56:32
there for them. | 0:56:32 | 0:56:33
Because we are their age,
we have similar interests | 0:56:33 | 0:56:36
so they can come to us much easier. | 0:56:36 | 0:56:38
But with so many different
places to communicate, | 0:56:38 | 0:56:41
the problem is hard to police,
hard to monitor and hard to solve, | 0:56:41 | 0:56:44
as those at the frontline of dealing
with cyber bullying attest. | 0:56:44 | 0:56:52
Our concern is just how awful
the things are that people write. | 0:56:52 | 0:56:55
It's very sad, but we do regularly
see those sorts of comments | 0:56:55 | 0:56:58
about "everybody hates
you, go kill yourself". | 0:56:58 | 0:57:01
Those sorts of things,
which I can't imagine would happen | 0:57:01 | 0:57:04
in a face-to-face environment. | 0:57:04 | 0:57:08
As the big and small players
try to overcome the issue, | 0:57:08 | 0:57:11
one British company
has big ambitions. | 0:57:11 | 0:57:13
They want to get their software
on every single child's device | 0:57:13 | 0:57:16
before they use it
for the first time. | 0:57:16 | 0:57:23
SafeToNet don't like to refer
to their software as parental | 0:57:23 | 0:57:26
control because they feel that
could put people off. | 0:57:26 | 0:57:29
Some of the functions, though,
could be considered that. | 0:57:29 | 0:57:43
For example, monitoring the amount
of time that your children | 0:57:43 | 0:57:47
are online and limiting that
however you see fit. | 0:57:47 | 0:57:50
You can block devices and websites,
but it also is planning on upping | 0:57:50 | 0:57:53
the game of what these sorts
of products can do by adding a bit | 0:57:53 | 0:57:57
of artificial intelligence. | 0:57:57 | 0:57:58
By later this year, it's going to be
aiming to track the behavioural | 0:57:58 | 0:58:01
changes, so they can pre-empt any
bullying before it actually happens. | 0:58:01 | 0:58:04
It aims to understand context,
providing triggered alerts | 0:58:04 | 0:58:06
for parents, rather
than letting them actually spy. | 0:58:06 | 0:58:09
One of the ways that we identify
when children are trending sad | 0:58:09 | 0:58:12
and maybe even depressed
is they stop posting selfies | 0:58:12 | 0:58:14
of themselves because they've lost
that self-confidence. | 0:58:14 | 0:58:17
So our software is designed to be
able to pick up those trends | 0:58:17 | 0:58:20
and recognised, again, there's
a change in behavioural patterns. | 0:58:20 | 0:58:23
So we are identifying
cyber bullying, abuse, | 0:58:23 | 0:58:24
aggression, sextortion,
grooming and other predatory risks. | 0:58:24 | 0:58:31
Great if it works,
but of course it's all really | 0:58:31 | 0:58:34
about human behaviour. | 0:58:34 | 0:58:35
Culturally we obviously do
have an issue that young people | 0:58:35 | 0:58:37
believe that you can
behave this way online. | 0:58:37 | 0:58:49
We need to send a clear message,
you don't, and I think it takes | 0:58:49 | 0:58:53
all of us to work together,
educators, parents and tech | 0:58:53 | 0:58:56
companies, to make sure
children understand that. | 0:58:56 | 0:58:58
So whilst none of the solutions may
be foolproof, maybe these ideas | 0:58:58 | 0:59:01
together could make cyber bullying
a lesser problem in the future | 0:59:01 | 0:59:04
than it is today. | 0:59:04 | 0:59:05
That's it for the short cut
of Click in China this week. | 0:59:05 | 0:59:08
The full-length version
is on iPlayer right now. | 0:59:08 | 0:59:10
I promise we will be back
in this fascinating country | 0:59:10 | 0:59:13

Hello, this is Breakfast, with
Roger Johnson and Naga Munchetty. | 1:00:11 | 1:00:15
A woman's body is found
in the search for missing | 1:00:15 | 1:00:18
teenager Gaia Pope. | 1:00:18 | 1:00:19
The 19-year-old has been
missing for 12 days - | 1:00:19 | 1:00:22
family members say they're
devastated. | 1:00:22 | 1:00:30
She is the absolute light of my
life. So beautiful, so emotionally | 1:00:30 | 1:00:36
wise and intelligent. | 1:00:36 | 1:00:38
Good morning, it's Sunday,
the 19th of November. | 1:00:48 | 1:00:51
Also this morning... | 1:00:51 | 1:00:53
After thousands
of people in Zimbabwe | 1:00:53 | 1:00:54
take to the streets,
President Mugabe will meet | 1:00:54 | 1:00:56
with army chiefs this
morning to decide his fate. | 1:00:56 | 1:01:00
A promise of 300,000 new homes
a year, as the Chancellor says he'll | 1:01:00 | 1:01:03
do "whatever it takes" to fix
the housing market. | 1:01:03 | 1:01:07
After 34 years of leading Sinn Fein,
Gerry Adams announces | 1:01:07 | 1:01:09
he's standing
down as president of the party. | 1:01:09 | 1:01:19
In sport, England are into the rugby
league World Cup semifinals. They | 1:01:19 | 1:01:25
have beaten Papua New Guinea 36-6. | 1:01:25 | 1:01:31
How volunteers hope to restore
the last paddle steamer | 1:01:31 | 1:01:33
to be built in Britain. | 1:01:33 | 1:01:34
And Philip has the weather. | 1:01:34 | 1:01:35
Good morning. There is a fine and
adverts on a frosty start to Sunday. | 1:01:35 | 1:01:42
A decent day in prospect from any
part of the British Isle. But there | 1:01:42 | 1:01:46
is a change on the way.
Details in a few minutes. | 1:01:46 | 1:01:50
Good morning.
First, our main story. | 1:01:50 | 1:01:52
Police in Dorset say they're
confident they've found the body | 1:01:52 | 1:01:54
of missing teenager Gaia Pope. | 1:01:54 | 1:01:55
The 19 year-old had not
been seen for 11 days. | 1:01:55 | 1:01:59
Specialist teams made
the discovery on Saturday, close | 1:01:59 | 1:02:01
to a coastal path near Swanage. | 1:02:01 | 1:02:03
Her family have said
they are "absolutely devastated". | 1:02:03 | 1:02:07
She is... | 1:02:07 | 1:02:09
I'm not go on to say
"was", and I never will. | 1:02:09 | 1:02:14
She is the absolute
light of my life. | 1:02:14 | 1:02:18
So beautiful, so emotionally
wise and intelligent. | 1:02:18 | 1:02:23
And so passionate, and artistic,
and creative, and understanding. | 1:02:23 | 1:02:31
James Ingham is in
Swanage with the latest. | 1:02:31 | 1:02:40
This is the news that everybody who
has been involved, the whole | 1:02:40 | 1:02:45
community, the news that everybody
was dreading. What is the mood like | 1:02:45 | 1:02:49
there this morning? One would
imagine it is very sombre? I think | 1:02:49 | 1:02:54
it will be as many people will wake
up to hear this news this morning. | 1:02:54 | 1:02:58
This was only confirmed late last
night. Some people will not have | 1:02:58 | 1:03:02
heard. This town has been rocked by
Gaia's disappearance. The community | 1:03:02 | 1:03:09
has come together to search for
Gaia. You can move from seeing | 1:03:09 | 1:03:13
posters and leaflets of her face.
But included yesterday when many | 1:03:13 | 1:03:17
volunteers were out searching in
three different locations. Hundreds | 1:03:17 | 1:03:22
of people turned up to help Gaia's
family and friends. But as they were | 1:03:22 | 1:03:28
doing that, police discovered her
body on clifftops close to wear | 1:03:28 | 1:03:33
clothing a purse was found. They
will carry out forensic tests on | 1:03:33 | 1:03:38
that area and on her body, as well
as a postmortem, to try to establish | 1:03:38 | 1:03:43
how she died. At the moment her
death remains unexplained. Police | 1:03:43 | 1:03:47
have until now been treated --
protruding this is a murder | 1:03:47 | 1:03:51
investigation.
They will want more answers soon. | 1:03:51 | 1:03:54
Thank you. | 1:03:54 | 1:03:57
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has
pledged to use Wednesday's budget, | 1:03:57 | 1:04:00
to help build 300,000
new homes a year. | 1:04:00 | 1:04:02
Philip Hammond has told
the Sunday Times he'll invest | 1:04:02 | 1:04:04
billions and fix planning
regulations to get | 1:04:04 | 1:04:06
builders building. | 1:04:06 | 1:04:07
He'll also announce funding
to get driverless cars | 1:04:07 | 1:04:11
on the road within four years. | 1:04:11 | 1:04:12
Emma Vardy is in our
London newsroom. | 1:04:12 | 1:04:22
The weekend before the budget we
start getting the leaks, don't we? | 1:04:22 | 1:04:26
That is right. We have than having
them all this week. There would be a | 1:04:26 | 1:04:30
range of measures aimed at tackling
the issues which contributed to the | 1:04:30 | 1:04:34
Conservatives losing seats at the
last election. Housing is emerging | 1:04:34 | 1:04:37
as one of the big headlines. That
the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, put | 1:04:37 | 1:04:42
it in the Sunday Times today is, he
is, he says he will stage an | 1:04:42 | 1:04:46
intervention on housing. He is
pointing the finger at all of these | 1:04:46 | 1:04:50
sites were he says there is planning
promotion -- permission but not a | 1:04:50 | 1:04:54
lot is going on. He is targeting
these speculative investors hoarding | 1:04:54 | 1:04:59
pieces of land. He has a strong
message. He says, construction | 1:04:59 | 1:05:03
companies, if you have got places,
if they have got planning | 1:05:03 | 1:05:08
permission, you need to start
building. Away from housing there is | 1:05:08 | 1:05:12
something for the tech fans. There
will be new rules introduced to help | 1:05:12 | 1:05:18
developers do more on road testing
on driverless vehicles. But make no | 1:05:18 | 1:05:24
mistake, the backdrop to all of this
is that it is a difficult budget for | 1:05:24 | 1:05:29
Philip Hammond. The Brexit arguments
are dominating. And after that snap | 1:05:29 | 1:05:33
election which went wrong, there is
pressure to get things back on track | 1:05:33 | 1:05:37
for the Tories.
Thank you. We will keep in touch. | 1:05:37 | 1:05:42
Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe
is expected to meet | 1:05:42 | 1:05:44
military commanders this morning,
a day after tens of thousands | 1:05:44 | 1:05:47
of protestors called
for his resignation. | 1:05:47 | 1:05:48
Mr Mugabe has so far
resisted calls to step down. | 1:05:48 | 1:05:51
His party, Zanu-PF, is expected
to begin the formal process | 1:05:51 | 1:05:53
of stripping him of his role. | 1:05:53 | 1:06:00
Ben Brown is in Zimbabwe for us. | 1:06:00 | 1:06:05
Good morning. It could be a
monumental day for that country | 1:06:05 | 1:06:10
today? Yeah, another crucial day for
Zimbabwe. Yesterday we saw tens of | 1:06:10 | 1:06:19
thousands on the streets in Harare,
the capital. A real sea change in | 1:06:19 | 1:06:24
this country's history. People no
longer prepared to put up with the | 1:06:24 | 1:06:30
dictator, Robert Mugabe, who has
ruled them for 37 years. Still it is | 1:06:30 | 1:06:34
a question of how he is removed
constitutionally. That is what the | 1:06:34 | 1:06:39
Army want. They don't want this to
looked like a coup d'etat. They want | 1:06:39 | 1:06:42
him to go of his own free will,
where he resigns, or to | 1:06:42 | 1:06:48
constitutionally get rid of him.
That could mean impeaching him in | 1:06:48 | 1:06:50
parliament in the next few days.
Also what is crucial today is that | 1:06:50 | 1:06:55
there is a meeting of Zanu-PF, the
ruling party, who are expected to | 1:06:55 | 1:07:00
dismiss him as party leader. He
would no longer be party leader of | 1:07:00 | 1:07:05
Zanu-PF. There are negotiations
today between the military and Mr | 1:07:05 | 1:07:09
Mugabe, where they will try once
again to persuade him to step down. | 1:07:09 | 1:07:13
The signs so far are that he is
being stubborn. As he always has | 1:07:13 | 1:07:18
been. He's refusing to leave office.
We were talking to an expert who | 1:07:18 | 1:07:23
used to work on part of the
Zimbabwean government. He was saying | 1:07:23 | 1:07:27
that Robert Mugabe's future, as to
whether or not he is allowed to stay | 1:07:27 | 1:07:31
in Zimbabwe, depends on whether he
accepts what seems to be the | 1:07:31 | 1:07:36
inevitable. Those scenes yesterday
show the outpouring of relief almost | 1:07:36 | 1:07:41
from the people. What was that like
to experience? There were scenes of | 1:07:41 | 1:07:47
joy, celebration. Long into the
night people were tooting their | 1:07:47 | 1:07:52
horns, there were still cheering
through the evening. We have been | 1:07:52 | 1:07:55
talking to some of the people there.
In years gone by they have gone onto | 1:07:55 | 1:08:00
the street and criticised Robert
McGarvey, are demonstrated. They | 1:08:00 | 1:08:04
have been beaten by the police. They
have faced water cannon and tear | 1:08:04 | 1:08:10
gas. They couldn't believe they had
this freedom to roam around curare, | 1:08:10 | 1:08:15
to go to key government offices and
demand the president to stand down. | 1:08:15 | 1:08:19
-- Harare. People will not accept
anything less than the ousting of | 1:08:19 | 1:08:24
Robert Mugabe.
Thank you. | 1:08:24 | 1:08:29
After 34 years at the helm,
the Sinn Fein leader, Gerry Adams | 1:08:29 | 1:08:32
says he plans to step down. | 1:08:32 | 1:08:33
During his time as leader,
he persuaded the IRA to call | 1:08:33 | 1:08:36
a ceasefire, and pursued a political
settlement in the form | 1:08:36 | 1:08:38
of the Good Friday Agreement. | 1:08:38 | 1:08:40
His decision to resign brings
to an end the longest party | 1:08:40 | 1:08:42
leadership in Britain or Ireland. | 1:08:42 | 1:08:45
Republicanism has
never been stronger. | 1:08:45 | 1:08:48
This is our time. | 1:08:48 | 1:08:50
We will grow even
stronger in the future. | 1:08:50 | 1:08:53
But leadership means knowing
when it's time for change. | 1:08:53 | 1:09:03
And that time is now. I will not be
standing at the next election. | 1:09:05 | 1:09:07
Investigators are continuing to look
into the causes of a mid-air | 1:09:07 | 1:09:10
collision between a helicopter
and a plane, after the bodies of the | 1:09:10 | 1:09:13
four men who died were recovered. | 1:09:13 | 1:09:15
Police and air accident experts
remain at the scene of the wreckage | 1:09:15 | 1:09:18
in woodland near Buckinghamshire,
as the families wait to formally | 1:09:18 | 1:09:20
identify their loved ones. | 1:09:20 | 1:09:29
The Argentine navy has detected
signals likely to be that of a | 1:09:29 | 1:09:33
submarine which disappeared on
Wednesday. | 1:09:33 | 1:09:35
The San Juan was on a routine
mission off the southern tip | 1:09:35 | 1:09:37
of Argentina, when it lost contact
with naval command on Wednesday. | 1:09:37 | 1:09:40
The Defence Ministry is now working
with a US company to trace | 1:09:40 | 1:09:43
the location of the seven failed
satellite calls | 1:09:43 | 1:09:45
received on Saturday. | 1:09:45 | 1:09:46
New advice on how to recognise
and tackle sexual harassment | 1:09:46 | 1:09:48
in the workplace,
is published today. | 1:09:48 | 1:09:51
The advisory and conciliation
service, Acas, has | 1:09:51 | 1:09:54
released guidelines
for employers and employees | 1:09:54 | 1:09:57
which outlines the kind of behaviour
which could be considered | 1:09:57 | 1:10:00
inappropriate and how to report it.
Sophie Long Reports. | 1:10:00 | 1:10:04
Allegations of inappropriate
behaviour by men considered to be | 1:10:04 | 1:10:08
Hollywood greats and high profile
politicians at Westminster started | 1:10:08 | 1:10:10
a conversation about what sexual
harassment is and what needs to be | 1:10:10 | 1:10:14
done to tackle it. | 1:10:14 | 1:10:18
Now the conciliation service ACAS
says it wants to help people | 1:10:18 | 1:10:21
identify sexual harassment at work
and to give tips | 1:10:21 | 1:10:23
on how to handle it. | 1:10:23 | 1:10:25
The advice includes examples
of the forms that sexual | 1:10:25 | 1:10:27
harassment can take,
such as written or verbal comments, | 1:10:27 | 1:10:29
displaying explicit images
or unwanted physical contact. | 1:10:29 | 1:10:39
Sexual harassment can happen
anywhere, at any time, to anybody. | 1:10:39 | 1:10:44
There are things that employers can
do that will help manage that risk. | 1:10:44 | 1:10:48
But, nevertheless,
it is a possibility and people need | 1:10:48 | 1:10:51
to be ready to identify it when it
happens, they need to know | 1:10:51 | 1:10:55
what to do if it happens
and they need to have a safe place | 1:10:55 | 1:10:58
and a safe way to report that,
and possibly resolve it will take | 1:10:58 | 1:11:03
action around the matter as well. | 1:11:03 | 1:11:06
ACAS says if someone feels
they are experiencing harassment, | 1:11:06 | 1:11:10
there are a number of people
within an organisation that can help | 1:11:10 | 1:11:13
deal with complaints -
like members of the human resources | 1:11:13 | 1:11:16
team, or union representatives. | 1:11:16 | 1:11:19
Any kind of harassment that
includes sexual assault | 1:11:19 | 1:11:21
or physical threats,
it says, is a criminal act and | 1:11:21 | 1:11:24
should be reported to the police. | 1:11:24 | 1:11:26
Sophie Long, BBC News. | 1:11:26 | 1:11:30
The actor and singer, David Cassidy,
is being treated in a Florida | 1:11:30 | 1:11:33
hospital for multiple organ failure. | 1:11:33 | 1:11:36
The 67 year-old who first found
fame in the TV sitcom, | 1:11:36 | 1:11:41
The Partridge Family,
was rushed to hospital three days | 1:11:41 | 1:11:44
ago, and requires
a liver transplant. | 1:11:44 | 1:11:47
He is believed to be conscious
and surrounded by his family, | 1:11:47 | 1:11:50
following reports he had been put
in an induced coma. | 1:11:50 | 1:11:54
The Queen and Prince Philip
will celebrate their 70th wedding | 1:11:54 | 1:11:56
anniversary tomorrow. | 1:11:56 | 1:11:58
To mark the milestone,
Buckingham Palace has | 1:11:58 | 1:12:01
released this new portrait. | 1:12:01 | 1:12:03
A set of six commemorative stamps
have also been issued by Royal Mail. | 1:12:03 | 1:12:07
They feature the couple's
engagement and wedding. | 1:12:07 | 1:12:09
They are the first royal
couple to celebrate their | 1:12:09 | 1:12:11
platinum anniversary. | 1:12:11 | 1:12:17
Many congratulations. | 1:12:17 | 1:12:19
Driverless cars, new homes
and disposable plastic containers | 1:12:19 | 1:12:21
will be on Phillip Hammond's
agenda, when he delivers | 1:12:21 | 1:12:23
his budget this week. | 1:12:23 | 1:12:26
Westminster watchers say
he'll also be concerned | 1:12:26 | 1:12:28
with presenting
a positive vision for | 1:12:28 | 1:12:31
post-Brexit Britain,
and creating a moment | 1:12:31 | 1:12:33
of unity for his party. | 1:12:33 | 1:12:35
Henry Mance is the political
correspondent for the Financial | 1:12:35 | 1:12:37
Times, and joins us
from our London newsroom. | 1:12:37 | 1:12:43
Good morning. We were talking to our
political correspondent earlier and | 1:12:43 | 1:12:47
this is the weekend when the leaks
started to come out ahead of the | 1:12:47 | 1:12:50
budget. Anything surprise you? We
have seen Philip Hammond talk | 1:12:50 | 1:12:55
positive about housing. It is not
really surprising because we know | 1:12:55 | 1:12:59
the Conservatives and Labour leave
this is an area where young people | 1:12:59 | 1:13:03
are being squeezed out of the
housing market. Homes costing too | 1:13:03 | 1:13:06
much. He is trying to be as bold as
he can be without annoying | 1:13:06 | 1:13:11
traditional Conservative voters who
don't want homes built on the green | 1:13:11 | 1:13:15
belt. How positive is this budget
going to be? We were saying with | 1:13:15 | 1:13:20
Brexit negotiations going on, he is
determined to give a positive | 1:13:20 | 1:13:23
outlook for the UK post Brexit? I
remember the time when budgetss were | 1:13:23 | 1:13:30
giveaways. At the moment that is not
possible. There is still a budget | 1:13:30 | 1:13:36
deficit. We are spending more than
we are bringing in. Philip Hammond | 1:13:36 | 1:13:41
doesn't think you can keep doing
that forever. The Labour Party | 1:13:41 | 1:13:45
wanted to loosen the purse strings
of it. I think you will try to | 1:13:45 | 1:13:49
present a positive message but the
underlying picture is a bit grim. | 1:13:49 | 1:13:52
What do you mean? Brexit has not
helped the public finances. If you | 1:13:52 | 1:13:59
are Philip Hammond, who supported
Remain, you are thinking, I can't be | 1:13:59 | 1:14:04
upbeat and talk about the
opportunities because I am looking | 1:14:04 | 1:14:06
at the numbers and they are not so
good. There are calls from the party | 1:14:06 | 1:14:12
for him to relax austerity following
the election. Do you think you will | 1:14:12 | 1:14:15
not do that? I think you will not
really do very much in that | 1:14:15 | 1:14:20
direction. The indications are that
he will be cautious and that he is | 1:14:20 | 1:14:24
actually a believer in the basics of
austerity. On his plans there would | 1:14:24 | 1:14:29
still be a budget deficit. There
would still -- we would still spend | 1:14:29 | 1:14:33
more than we receive until the
middle of 2020. That is still quite | 1:14:33 | 1:14:39
away, if you think about the
recession and the financial crisis, | 1:14:39 | 1:14:43
that is a long time with a budget
deficit. He doesn't think we can | 1:14:43 | 1:14:48
wait any longer. If you are
expecting a big radical plan, if you | 1:14:48 | 1:14:52
are expecting him to completely
change what this comment is about, | 1:14:52 | 1:14:55
you will be disappointed. What about
the place to build more houses? That | 1:14:55 | 1:14:59
is likely to be seen as positive. It
is a cross-party demand? | 1:14:59 | 1:15:06
Yes, but look at the scale. Sajid
Javid, the Cabinet minister in | 1:15:06 | 1:15:10
charge of housing, he wanted the
government to borrow 50 billion to | 1:15:10 | 1:15:14
spend on these things. What Philip
Hammond is talking about is 5 | 1:15:14 | 1:15:17
billion. So, it is a lot of money, a
big figure. It is not the scale that | 1:15:17 | 1:15:23
one of his own colleagues thought
was necessary. I think you can be | 1:15:23 | 1:15:28
attacked by Labour on that point.
The difficulty with being really | 1:15:28 | 1:15:33
bold is that you create enemies come
often. You leave yourself open. We | 1:15:33 | 1:15:37
saw in Philip Hammond's only other
budget that he tried to do something | 1:15:37 | 1:15:42
radical on national insurance, what
self-employed people pay in tax, and | 1:15:42 | 1:15:46
he fell flat on his face. He doesn't
want to do that. The way of not | 1:15:46 | 1:15:49
doing that is don't take any big
risks. I think that will be his | 1:15:49 | 1:15:53
overriding principle on Wednesday.
What do you make of the relationship | 1:15:53 | 1:15:59
between number 11 and Number 10
Downing Street? There have been | 1:15:59 | 1:16:03
reported tensions between Philip
Hammond and the Prime Minister. It | 1:16:03 | 1:16:07
is a pretty extraordinary situation.
At Theresa May done better in the | 1:16:07 | 1:16:10
election, she would have sacked this
guy. He would not be in a job | 1:16:10 | 1:16:14
delivering the budget this week. It
must make Philip Hammond feel uneasy | 1:16:14 | 1:16:21
about his position, or at least
resentful. Having said that, Theresa | 1:16:21 | 1:16:24
May has changed her advisers, so the
relationship is a little better as a | 1:16:24 | 1:16:29
result. I think there is still a
marriage of convenience, rather than | 1:16:29 | 1:16:34
a really close partnership. David
Cameron and George Osborne, whatever | 1:16:34 | 1:16:37
you felt about them, you had to
think they were pretty close. They | 1:16:37 | 1:16:40
didn't come out into public with
their disagreements and you felt | 1:16:40 | 1:16:43
they were on the same page. It's not
quite the same with these two. It | 1:16:43 | 1:16:46
will be interesting this week. Thank
you for joining us. | 1:16:46 | 1:16:55
Good morning, if you are just
getting up. A cold start in many | 1:16:55 | 1:16:59
parts of the country. | 1:16:59 | 1:17:05
A rather beautiful sunrise? | 1:17:05 | 1:17:07
Southend-on-Sea. The weather
watchers are beginning to get out | 1:17:11 | 1:17:13
and about. We are always very
grateful because they keep us in | 1:17:13 | 1:17:16
touch with what is going on with the
weather across the British Isles. As | 1:17:16 | 1:17:20
you say, it was a pretty chilly
start under the clear skies. That is | 1:17:20 | 1:17:24
certainly the case through central
and eastern parts, a bit of rust | 1:17:24 | 1:17:27
around and mist and fog. Further
west, the clouds stuck around for a | 1:17:27 | 1:17:32
good part of the night, particularly
in the far west of Cornwall, the | 1:17:32 | 1:17:35
Scilly Isles and into Northern
Ireland. It has produced the odd | 1:17:35 | 1:17:38
spot of rain here and there. That is
the likelihood as far ahead as | 1:17:38 | 1:17:42
mid-afternoon. Increasing amounts of
cloud coming in across much of the | 1:17:42 | 1:17:45
south-west, up across much of
western Wales as well. Generally | 1:17:45 | 1:17:49
speaking, the further east you are,
cool throughout the day. I think the | 1:17:49 | 1:17:53
thing you will notice is that as the
clear skies get a bit more hazy with | 1:17:53 | 1:17:57
time, more in the way of cloud for
Northern Ireland, the western side | 1:17:57 | 1:18:01
of Scotland, and a greater chance of
a bit of rain. That is just a taste | 1:18:01 | 1:18:05
of what is to come overnight. Chilly
throughout the central and eastern | 1:18:05 | 1:18:10
parts. This is part of the problem
overnight, because we will bring | 1:18:10 | 1:18:13
mild air from the Atlantic. That's
no initially in Scotland will fall | 1:18:13 | 1:18:16
to as low as 200 metres or so.
Gradually, it will rise to the | 1:18:16 | 1:18:20
course of the night as increasing
amounts of mild air comes in from | 1:18:20 | 1:18:24
the Atlantic. The same mild air,
five or 6 degrees, as opposed to -5 | 1:18:24 | 1:18:29
last night, the really mild stuff
towards the south-west quarter. | 1:18:29 | 1:18:33
Eventually, it wins out across the
greater part of the British Isles, | 1:18:33 | 1:18:35
save for Scotland. Quite a dank
started a day. Not a lot of sunshine | 1:18:35 | 1:18:45
for sun-worshippers. 11, 12 or 13
degrees. Further north, one of those | 1:18:45 | 1:18:49
days. Never better than five, six,
seven or 8 degrees. It stays dank | 1:18:49 | 1:18:54
and murky, and a bit grizzly. That
is the sort of pattern for the | 1:18:54 | 1:18:59
middle part of the week, where we
have the high-pressure down to the | 1:18:59 | 1:19:03
western Mediterranean and we have
low pressure. Quite a number of | 1:19:03 | 1:19:06
isobars there. We have this
combination of wet and windy fair. | 1:19:06 | 1:19:11
But mild, given the flow that is
going to come up and at us from way | 1:19:11 | 1:19:15
down in the mid-Atlantic. This week
is certainly wet and windy at times. | 1:19:15 | 1:19:20
Some of that rain is really quite
heavy as well. It will be mild and | 1:19:20 | 1:19:24
then later in the week, around about
Friday, into the forthcoming | 1:19:24 | 1:19:30
weekend, we suspect it will turn a
lot colder and brighter as a | 1:19:30 | 1:19:34
consequence. No longer that mild
feel of midweek. | 1:19:34 | 1:19:37
Mild, dank and murky, or cold and
bright? Yes, that is often the way | 1:19:40 | 1:19:47
at this time of year. Orton, not
winter, not quite yet. Which do you | 1:19:47 | 1:19:54
prefer? I am an optimist, I like the
cheery skies, I am happy to put on a | 1:19:54 | 1:19:59
fewer layers. Well, nature has given
me a few layers. It is not fat, you | 1:19:59 | 1:20:04
understand! Of course! You are not
alone. I have never heard that. Wide | 1:20:04 | 1:20:13
skin? A natural duvet! Stop it! You
have nothing of the sought. | 1:20:13 | 1:20:20
Volunteers restoring the last
paddle steamer to be built | 1:20:25 | 1:20:27
in Britain are appealing
for help | 1:20:27 | 1:20:29
in tracking down artifacts
and equipment from the ship. | 1:20:29 | 1:20:32
The Maid of the Loch was left
derelict on the banks | 1:20:32 | 1:20:35
of Loch Lomond over 35 years ago
and | 1:20:35 | 1:20:36 | |
the group are now on the final push
of a fundraising campaign | 1:20:36 | 1:20:39
to get her sailing once again. | 1:20:39 | 1:20:41
Lorna Gordon has
been to take a look. | 1:20:41 | 1:20:43
In the grey drizzle of an autumnal
day, the last paddle steamer | 1:20:45 | 1:20:48
to be built in Britain. | 1:20:48 | 1:20:51
She's not sailed for more than 35
years, moored up and, | 1:20:51 | 1:20:54
for part of that time,
left to rot - until steam-ship | 1:20:54 | 1:20:56
enthusiasts saved her from sinking. | 1:20:56 | 1:21:01
It's a thing of beauty,
but it needs a bit of work. | 1:21:01 | 1:21:04
Absolutely, it sure does. | 1:21:06 | 1:21:07
It needs a lot of work,
and a lot of money spent on it. | 1:21:07 | 1:21:11
The obvious things
are that the paintwork | 1:21:11 | 1:21:12
and all that kind of thing... | 1:21:12 | 1:21:14
Bit of rotten wood there? | 1:21:14 | 1:21:15
Rotten wood. | 1:21:15 | 1:21:16
All of that will be
replaced or renewed. | 1:21:16 | 1:21:18
The paddle boxes will be bright
and sparkling again. | 1:21:18 | 1:21:21
In her 30 years of service,
royalty and heads of state | 1:21:24 | 1:21:26
were amongst the millions
of passengers who graced her decks. | 1:21:26 | 1:21:32
On a Saturday night,
there'd be entertainment. | 1:21:32 | 1:21:36
And on a summer's day,
it would be full of families who'd | 1:21:36 | 1:21:39
come from Glasgow to see Loch
Lomond. | 1:21:39 | 1:21:41
In its heyday, The Maid Of The Loch
would have been packed | 1:21:41 | 1:21:44
with passengers enjoying a day out
on the water. | 1:21:44 | 1:21:48
Many of those who are helping
to restore it have fond | 1:21:48 | 1:21:51
memories of this ship,
and want a new generation | 1:21:51 | 1:21:53
to enjoy it too. | 1:21:53 | 1:21:54
Was it exciting, as a boy? | 1:21:54 | 1:21:56
Oh, yes, fantastic. | 1:21:56 | 1:21:58
Never seen anything
like it in my life. | 1:21:58 | 1:22:01
There's a wonderful feeling
about watching the power - | 1:22:01 | 1:22:03
I mean, this is power. | 1:22:03 | 1:22:04
This is raw power. | 1:22:04 | 1:22:09
All these pistons -
the two pistons going backwards | 1:22:09 | 1:22:11
and forwards, turning the shafts,
making the paddles go | 1:22:11 | 1:22:14
through their cycle,
making her go through the water... | 1:22:14 | 1:22:19
It's just - I mean, "magic"
is the only word there is to it. | 1:22:19 | 1:22:24
Hard work by volunteers has erased
some of the damage caused | 1:22:24 | 1:22:27
by the years of neglect. | 1:22:27 | 1:22:29
But with anything of value stolen,
any metals that could be | 1:22:29 | 1:22:32
melted down sold as scrap,
they now need help in tracking | 1:22:32 | 1:22:35
down any artefacts that
still exist, like this recently | 1:22:35 | 1:22:37
returned ship's wheel. | 1:22:37 | 1:22:41
The ship was stripped bare
before we took it on. | 1:22:41 | 1:22:43
But over the years, we've had
one or two things back. | 1:22:43 | 1:22:46
The most important one
is the ship's bell. | 1:22:46 | 1:22:48
You want to hear it? | 1:22:48 | 1:22:49
Yeah, go on, then... | 1:22:49 | 1:22:51
You need to give me a hand...! | 1:22:51 | 1:22:53
If I lift it, you can
give it a ding... | 1:22:53 | 1:22:56
There's lots of other ones that
people have taken off. | 1:22:56 | 1:22:59
No recriminations, we just need
to know that, if they're safe, | 1:22:59 | 1:23:01
would people please give them back? | 1:23:01 | 1:23:05
Securing the heritage
of this historic ship, | 1:23:05 | 1:23:08
and moving one step closer to seeing
The Maid Of The Loch raising steam | 1:23:08 | 1:23:11
and sailing once again. | 1:23:11 | 1:23:13
It will be fantastic when she set
sail again. A phenomenal effort when | 1:23:24 | 1:23:28
they restore these wonderful old
boats, paddle steamers. I've never | 1:23:28 | 1:23:32
been on a paddle steamer. Never.
We're going to be on the BBC News | 1:23:32 | 1:23:39
Channel until nine o'clock. At the
very end of the programme we will be | 1:23:39 | 1:23:42
talking about Windermere, a similar
kind of thing. But the nature of the | 1:23:42 | 1:23:46
way that the ecology is changing, on
Windermere. Oh, Lake Windermere? | 1:23:46 | 1:23:52
Yes, but interestingly it is not a
lake. Well remembered! People tell | 1:23:52 | 1:23:58
off when we get it wrong. | 1:23:58 | 1:24:01
We're here on the BBC
News Channel until nine this | 1:24:01 | 1:24:04
morning, still to come... | 1:24:04 | 1:24:05
Only a few months ago,
Andy Cole was so gripped | 1:24:05 | 1:24:07
by depression he couldn't bear
to leave his home. | 1:24:07 | 1:24:09
Now, after climbing Ben Nevis every
day for a month, he'll join us | 1:24:09 | 1:24:12
to explain why the outdoors
has saved his life. | 1:24:12 | 1:24:17
Fascinating story. | 1:24:17 | 1:24:19
All aboard for a trip along
Japan's prettiest railways | 1:24:19 | 1:24:21
as The Travel Show finds out why
part of it now lies abandoned. | 1:24:21 | 1:24:28
I've been to Japan recently, there
are some amazing views. | 1:24:28 | 1:24:32
Eight-year-old Lily suffered
shrapnel wounds and a bruised lung | 1:24:32 | 1:24:34
when she was injured
in the Manchester arena | 1:24:34 | 1:24:36
bombing earlier this year. | 1:24:36 | 1:24:37
We've been speaking to her
as she returned to her karate club | 1:24:37 | 1:24:40
to prove she's fighting fit. | 1:24:40 | 1:24:45
A young lady not to be trifled with! | 1:24:45 | 1:24:47
All that to come on
the BBC News Channel. | 1:24:47 | 1:24:49
But this is where we say goodbye
to viewers on BBC One. | 1:24:49 | 1:24:52
Bye for now. | 1:24:52 | 1:24:53 |
