Now the news for the East Midlands, good evening. First, one of the

region's biggest employers is being forced to pay its workers the living

It was a peaceful protest in Leicestershire this morning but

hours for people? Low pay, low hours has an impact on the communhties

that people live, so where the shops are, where the stores are, these

have a major impact on the communities that live there.

Campaigners from the Living Wage Foundation bought shares in Next so

they could attend today's AGM. We would like Next to become a

living`wage employer. There are 700 living`wage employers in this

country. Eight of them are on the FTSE 100 index. Next, though, is a

retailer, and there aren't `ny retailers. Across the East Midlands,

Next are employing apprentices up to and on ?4.80 per hour and there are

people in full`time work on about ?6.50, so only just above the

minimum wage. That's a long way from enough to get by to properly support

a family. It's a real struggle for many of those families. Next are a

fantastic company and this is many of those families. Next are a

Bombardier hopes jobs in Derby could be secure for at least the next 15

years. The company looked to the future as it celebrated 175 years of

train` making in the city. VIP guests were given a tour of the
