And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Dominic Heale.

:00:11.:00:13.

The 2,500-strong workforce at Derbyshire's Toyota plant

:00:14.:00:19.

received a massive vote of confidence today as the company

:00:20.:00:22.

It's injecting a quarter of a ?1 billion into modernising

:00:23.:00:28.

The government is also investing millions for

:00:29.:00:33.

Our reporter Sarah Teale can tell us more.

:00:34.:00:38.

More than four million vehicles have rolled off the production line

:00:39.:00:40.

at Toyota in Derbyshire since production began in 1992,

:00:41.:00:44.

but the future of the plant has been far from secure since Brexit.

:00:45.:00:49.

Today, though, Toyota threw its support behind Burnaston

:00:50.:00:52.

by announcing a ?240 million upgrade of manufacturing facilities.

:00:53.:00:58.

Does it guarantee the future of car production here for Burnaston?

:00:59.:01:02.

We always have to be competitive and that means

:01:03.:01:06.

building cars with quality, high productivity, low-cost,

:01:07.:01:11.

but what this investment does do is it significantly supports that.

:01:12.:01:16.

But finally, that is down to our members' skills and energy.

:01:17.:01:20.

This is a huge demonstration of the faith and confidence

:01:21.:01:24.

in the workforce here and that we can achieve the

:01:25.:01:26.

Toyota's investment is being backed up with ?21 million of government

:01:27.:01:32.

On a tour of the plant today, Business Secretary Greg Clark called

:01:33.:01:38.

Toyota's investment a boost to the UK car industry.

:01:39.:01:43.

How significant is this investment in securing jobs and future car

:01:44.:01:47.

A quarter of a billion pounds is a lot of money

:01:48.:01:53.

And for Toyota globally to commit that here in Derbyshire,

:01:54.:01:58.

Since Brexit, there has been widespread caution in the UK car

:01:59.:02:05.

manufacturing industry, with fears over possible

:02:06.:02:08.

This investment is being seen as a huge vote of confidence

:02:09.:02:13.

And it will also reassure some of the 2,600 staff who work here.

:02:14.:02:27.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of committing a series

:02:28.:02:32.

of sexual attacks in the Spondon and Darley Abbey areas of Derby.

:02:33.:02:37.

Earlier this week detectives began a major appeal to find an attacker

:02:38.:02:40.

who seriously assaulted four women over two and a half years.

:02:41.:02:45.

A 23-year-old man from Chaddesden has been arrested and is being

:02:46.:02:48.

A driver who crashed while being pursued by police,

:02:49.:02:53.

killing two people, has been jailed for nine years.

:02:54.:02:57.

It happened last year on Fosse Road South in Leicester.

:02:58.:03:00.

Two passengers in a Peugeot car died at the scene.

:03:01.:03:04.

A truck, hit by the car, ended up embedded in a shopfront.

:03:05.:03:08.

The Peugeot driver, 37-year-old Guy Tomlinson,

:03:09.:03:11.

admitted causing death by dangerous driving and driving while uninsured.

:03:12.:03:16.

He was jailed for nine years and banned for fifteen.

:03:17.:03:21.

A GP has told an inquest how he mistakenly prescribed ten times

:03:22.:03:25.

the dose of a strong painkiller to a young woman who later died.

:03:26.:03:30.

Dr Lawrence Axten also apologised to the family of 27-year-old

:03:31.:03:35.

Dr Lawrence Axten who today apologised to the grieving family

:03:36.:03:46.

In November 2014, in the hours before her death, Kymberley Holden

:03:47.:03:52.

from Codnor in Derbyshire suffered three bouts of severe pain in her

:03:53.:03:55.

She had lost use of the leg months earlier and used a

:03:56.:04:00.

wheelchair after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

:04:01.:04:04.

For each painful attack she took a dose of

:04:05.:04:08.

In the middle of the night, she was found by her boyfriend

:04:09.:04:12.

collapsed, lying unconscious on the floor and died

:04:13.:04:15.

At the inquest into her death today Kymberley's GP, Dr Axten,

:04:16.:04:20.

explained how he made the error of prescribing ten times the dosage

:04:21.:04:24.

He explained he had not realised he was prescribing a

:04:25.:04:30.

He said, while using the computer prescription system at his surgery

:04:31.:04:36.

in Ripley, he thought he was prescribing the correct dosage.

:04:37.:04:41.

The postmortem report found one of the causes of Kymberley's death

:04:42.:04:44.

was oxycodone intoxication, the generic name for the drug.

:04:45.:04:48.

Dr Axten's last words at the inquest were directed to Kymberley's

:04:49.:04:52.

He told them, "I am very, very sorry. I truly am."

:04:53.:04:58.

The inquest is expected to conclude tomorrow.

:04:59.:05:01.

:05:02.:05:05.

The owners of a children's nursery say plans to site a recovery centre

:05:06.:05:12.

for street alcoholics next door means they may have to close down.

:05:13.:05:16.

The controversial decision by Leicester City Council

:05:17.:05:19.

Councillors say the current centre near Humberstone Gate is no longer

:05:20.:05:24.

fit for purpose and there's an urgent need for such a facility.

:05:25.:05:28.

Getting street drinkers off the streets and into treatment.

:05:29.:05:35.

The Anchor Centre has been helping alcoholics

:05:36.:05:38.

The building is so run down it is no longer fit for purpose.

:05:39.:05:45.

Last night, Leicester City Council approved plans to move the service

:05:46.:05:48.

here to this building just off Humberstone Gate but it has

:05:49.:05:51.

proved controversial, nearly 400 people signed a petition

:05:52.:05:54.

This shutter is the only thing that separates the treatment centre

:05:55.:06:00.

What we can say is, where we have been in this current location,

:06:01.:06:06.

we have worked really hard to address the problems which have been

:06:07.:06:10.

here and we feel we can take that forward to this new location and

:06:11.:06:15.

help that area to reduce down the levels of drinking on the streets

:06:16.:06:18.

and the anti-social behaviour associated with it.

:06:19.:06:21.

But bosses at Little Angels nursery next to the hub say now that

:06:22.:06:25.

plans have been approved, they are seriously

:06:26.:06:29.

concerned about the future and they can't afford

:06:30.:06:31.

If we lose anywhere between three and five children

:06:32.:06:35.

We are the nursery where every money we make goes back into the children.

:06:36.:06:42.

So when children start leaving and we are losing that kind of money

:06:43.:06:46.

we're not going to be able to run the overall bills and the staff

:06:47.:06:50.

expenses, they are not going to be paid.

:06:51.:06:51.

What is important is it is a problem we acknowledge and a problem

:06:52.:06:55.

Investing ?600,000 in this recovery hub is a real important

:06:56.:06:59.

centrepiece to our efforts to do that.

:07:00.:07:02.

Work to transform this building into a hub for street drinkers

Leicester's first Asian film festival has kicked off tonight.

:07:17.:07:20.

The four day event will showcase a range of South Asian independent

:07:21.:07:24.

cinema, starting tonight with the UK premiere of Wrong Side Raju.

:07:25.:07:28.

Rolling out the red carpets for a very special screening at

:07:29.:07:46.

Leicester's cinema. This UK premiere of Wrong Side Raju opens the city's

:07:47.:07:50.

first-ever Asian film Festival, attracting cast, crew and movie

:07:51.:07:51.

fans. It is one of the most diverse cities

:07:52.:07:52.

in Europe if not the world. So for it not to have an Asian film

:07:53.:07:55.

festival already is silly. It is wonderful that it

:07:56.:07:58.

has finally arrived. Over the last decade,

:07:59.:08:02.

films from and about South Asia have been making a name

:08:03.:08:04.

on the international circuit as well as garnering

:08:05.:08:07.

praise at festivals. Through showing them

:08:08.:08:10.

here in Leicetser they are hoping to provide a better understanding

:08:11.:08:12.

of the region. We wanted to showcase

:08:13.:08:17.

South Asian cinema at its best. There is a cinema beyond

:08:18.:08:19.

Bollywood and we wanted to capture the beautiful

:08:20.:08:22.

stories that really touch the heart Films that are relevant

:08:23.:08:25.

to society, that is The festival boasts are varied menu

:08:26.:08:47.

of independent films. Tonight is my opening film is a thriller.

:08:48.:08:55.

Like many of the screen is, after was there was a chance to meet those

:08:56.:09:02.

involved. Beneficial, they say, for everyone.

:09:03.:09:05.

As a maker, a film-maker, getting the audience

:09:06.:09:07.

to know what they think after the film is what matters to me.

:09:08.:09:10.

I get to know what things and what stories, how I

:09:11.:09:12.

The film Festival runs until Sunday. It is equivalent in London has been

:09:13.:09:21.

going for 19 years and they helped the Leicester one will be just as

:09:22.:09:25.

successful. So, it's goodbye from me

:09:26.:09:26.

but with your weather now. As we go through the next few days

:09:27.:09:39.

we had expecting an unsettled spell of weather. This is the scene early

:09:40.:09:43.

on. We did have some bright and sunny spell but some ominous clouds

:09:44.:09:47.

as well. As we go through the course of the weekend we are expecting to

:09:48.:09:50.

have to look towards the flowers for brightness rather than the skies. As

:09:51.:09:54.

we have a look at the charts, high pressure that has been bringing in

:09:55.:09:58.

the settled weather is moving out of the way and then expecting this low

:09:59.:10:02.

pressure. That trend starting to bring in some rain as we go through

:10:03.:10:07.

the day tomorrow. As we have a look at the charts for tonight, we've got

:10:08.:10:11.

a clear their spell for a time. If you shout was in the early hours,

:10:12.:10:15.

cloud building in places with loads of 4 degrees. As we go through the

:10:16.:10:21.

course of the day tomorrow, we will start again on a relatively bright

:10:22.:10:25.

notes but that cloud will come down from the north-west. Rain on. That

:10:26.:10:34.

following on. Highs of around 10 Celsius. As we had to us the

:10:35.:10:41.

weekend, it is a mixture of brighter spells here and there but showers.

:10:42.:10:48.

Template is recovering on Saturday. Then, as he had to Sunday, we have

:10:49.:10:52.

got another front coming in our direction likely to bring in patchy

:10:53.:10:57.

rain as well. A mixture of brightness and showers. I will leave

:10:58.:10:58.

you with the outlook. there will be rain around, most

:10:59.:11:00.

occurring overnight. Good evening, quite a range of

:11:01.:11:10.

whether an offer earlier today in the north and north-west of the UK

:11:11.:11:14.

quite a lot of showers around, lively ones, little bit of sunshine

:11:15.:11:17.

in between. The best of the sunshine to be found at the other end of the

:11:18.:11:20.

country towards the south-east in Kent, lovely picture here from one

:11:21.:11:25.

of our weather watchers. A range of temperatures, too. 17 degrees for a

:11:26.:11:28.

few, on the other side of the weather front, only seven or 8

:11:29.:11:32.

degrees. Showers in the north and west. The fresh air will win out

:11:33.:11:36.

over tonight coming in behind the cold front, which isn't bringing

:11:37.:11:39.

much rain but it will bring

:11:40.:11:40.
